Very good! 2 thumbs up! Better than the buffet at Caesars Palace that we ate the night before! Much Better!

Cheap, wide selection of salad, soups and deserts that come free with any main course, which are of reasonable quality. Prices of main course range between $10 and $20. Certainly a worthwhile dinner place to consider if one is very hungry and not looking for fine cuisine.

I really do not even know how to review Hoss's. All in all, it was awful. You are forced to order as soon as you walk in the restaurant. Since the menu is fairly large, it was annoying to have to make a decision on the spot. The place is huge. It looks very tired. The salad bar stinks of mold. Our chicken sandwiches were bad-- the bread was not fresh, the chicken was bland. Thankfully, the fries were pretty tasty. The one thing this place has going for it is the service. The hostess and our server were both very friendly. The food is also very cheap, but it shows. Aside from tearing this place down and starting over, the only thing that would make Hoss's better is a bar. This would be a perfect dive bar... yet, they don't even serve alcohol here. My raspberry iced tea was crying because it desperately needed some vodka. Never again.

I was very disappointed I came up from Front Royal Virginia I come by this place all the time as I am a truck driver and the place is full and have heard good things about it did not like the fact that is soon as I came in the door I was forced to make a decision as I did I chose the vegetable of the day it was 330 in the afternoon and ordered steak tips for my 19 month old son he is like Mikey eat everything except for the steak tips you did not eat them because they were tough I ordered a steak that was medium well it was more medium than well did not learn the best of the day was out until my food came out to the table the service was very good maybe that's because she was an elderly lady so what this its your choice I might be willing to give it one more chance but I doubt I'd be coming all the way up here from Front Royal Virginia to do that again

The main attraction is the salad bar which is plentiful and includes soups, bread and dessert. A main entree must be ordered before being seated, but is not really necessary . In fact, if you go for the salad bar alone or with a sandwich you will not need more. Drinks are extra. Basic middle American food for a fair price.

First time here. Traveling to Pittsburgh with my husband, we decided to try a new place. The food was good for the price. The waitress was pleasant and attentive as expected. I am not a fan of public salad bars as the handles were somewhat slimy and could have been switched out maybe. Similar to the olde Ponderosa Steak House, order at the entrance.

You have to know what you are getting into when going to a Hoss's. I was in the mood for a giant salad while on the road traveling for work and this was the perfect place-right off the Turnpike exit in Carlisle. Be warned it is a trucker stop! As you walk in the door they take your order and a hostess seats you. For some reason I thought you paid up front but the waitress will take your form of payment at your table. It sometimes take a while for the waitress to bring your drink (only serve nonalcoholic drinks) but in the meantime you are then able to go right up to the salad bar which can be hit or mess. Usually it is fresh and fully stocked but not all the time. They also have 3-4 soups to pick from and a few kinds of fresh baked bread. I went with the chicken noodle soup which was very tasty and the cinnamon bread with white icing is delicious! You also have the option to add an entrée to your salad bar (yes this is the opposite of the normal adding a salad to your entre) but I feel the salad bar has enough to offer and usually do not order an entree. I do recommend the burgers if you do want to order an entrée. The salad bar also offers fruit and dessert-cookies, brownies and a soft serve ice cream machine with topping bar. I recommend this place for families or those on the road.

Hoss's has daily soup, salad and dessert specials. They invariably run out of the featured dessert on Thursday - Boston Cream Pie. I have spoken to the manager on several occasions and noted it on their surveys but they just don't seem to care. My conclusion is that if they don't care about me as a customer, why should I care about giving them my business

Historically I love Hoss's and so maybe I was up here on an off-night, or I just got a slacker, but the salad bar sadly had clumpy orange ceaser dressing. I ordered a stuffed chicken breast that arrived cold, and pink. Sadly with the lack of time I gobbled it down without getting sick. Having chowed down at Hoss's before, I usually love them, but not now, at least not this particular one.

Ate here once due to a meeting nearby. I can't say the food was bad but I can't say it was good either. I wasn't impressed with the buffet choices and the table and menu cleanliness left something to be desired. Service was prompt and attentive though!

This place has ALWAYS been packed in the 4 years I've been going to the Carlisle Fairgrounds. During my visit, no different. 1st. They do things a bit differently. They line you up at the door and then take your order right there at the cash register. 2nd. You get seated after that and can hit the HUGE salad bar 3rd. You now pay your server and not the person on the way out, although it's still setup that way. Anyways, the food was good. I ordered the chicken and tips along with a baked potato. Very nice, although the buffalo chicken didn't look tasty....it was though. Tips were a bit small, but properly done to my specs. Service was very good, as my drink never hit the bottom of the glass. Parking can be tight. Prices? WOW, this is where this place wins. My senior citizen friend had a couple $5 off coupons as well as his senior discount. Came to $18 for both of us. Incl drinks, taxes, etc. Was just short of a 4 star effort. Will have to come back again next year.

This place earns four stars because its a great overall value as a family restaurant. The salad and dessert bars were great and all food was very fresh!! I ate here twice during the same weekend and the experience was great each time. I'm looking forward to going back!
