No smoking!!!! Great beer selection and chill atmosphere and good bartenders. Great place to hangout.

This is the place that took over the old smoke-filled, filthy Plunket. They did an awesome renovation job and it's entirely non-smoking...what a relief! They've got a great selection of beers and make good cocktails. Their wine list is weak, though. The food has been hit or miss lately, but at least they are making a good attempt at serving up some local foods. Try their grilled cheese sandwich with cheese from Keswick Creamery. You've got a choice of wild (pepper cheese) or mild (jack cheese). The only thing that keeps me from giving them five stars are their waitresses. The bar tenders are great, but the gals doing the waitressing are really awful. The last time we were in for lunch, one played a video game on the bar as we sat there waiting to order. When we disturbed her game, she copped an attitude. Get some decent wait staff!

Fantastic service - seriously, wonderful. The crab dip starter was amazing, the burgers are fantastic (according to the meat eaters in my house) and I love, as a vegetarian, love the veggie sandwich. Beer menu was wonderful, as well. The desserts, however, are really awful. We got the cheesecake and the chocolate peanut butter chocolate cake and they were really, really bad (so bad that I took one bite and was done). My husband also said the prime rib sandwich wasn't great - something weird with the sauce. All-in-all it was a great time at a great place, with some of the food being less than great.

Alibis consistently serves good cocktails and has fun live music on the weekends (no cover, typically!). I'm usually really pleased with service, too, however last friday we had a less-than-stellar server. He just didn't seem interested in helping us. Oh well. Food was good as usual. Sweet potato fries are THE BOMB and I love the wild grilled cheese.

Way too crowded on the weekend nights. Can't even move around! Makes it impossible to enjoy.

I like this place. My girlfriend and I go there for dinner most Monday's and have become friendly with some of the people that work there. The menu is not awesome, that part is true. But it's OK. I personally usually get the Roasted Red Pepper sandwich which I think is pretty tasty. It comes with a side of Maui chips, which I also like. The beer selection is usually pretty good as well. Clean and comfortable and before the ban, it was the only smoke free place around to get a beer.

This place is so overrated. My boyfriend and I were in town visiting on a Saturday night in August, and decided to stop by Alibi's for a couple drinks. We arrived around 11 p.m., and the atmosphere was very laid-back. We sat at the bar, and chatted with the bar tender (there was only one on duty), and he told us they usually get a rush around midnight. The beer was fine, but really, how hard is it to serve beer? At one point, we ordered tequila shots and asked they be fully dressed. The bartender didn't know what that meant and served us tequila WITHOUT salt and a lime. Isn't that bartending 101? The bartender was right, and sure enough, a huge crowd of undergrads showed up around midnight. Some of these kids (and I really do mean kids) didn't even look 21. They were already obnoxiously drunk (obviously they had a lot to drink at whatever bar or party they were coming from), and the single bartender, obviously overwhelmed by the crowd, served them without even checking their IDs. (At one point, this very drunk frat boy, kept yelling "hey, hey, hey" to the bartender in order to get his attention. Apparently it worked, because after 10-15 minutes of the yelling he was served. He would have probably been kicked out of any other bar.) If management knows this kind of crowd appears at midnight, why did they only have one bartender on duty? Due to the rush, it probably took 30 minutes for us to order two more beers. At some point, two more bartneders (female) arrived as back-up. And boy was the service slow! All three bartenders moved like molasses--not like bartenders experienced with a busy crowd. The two female bartenders even got into an verbal argument with each other behind the bar--making service even slower! Completely unprofessional and inappropriate. We left within an hour of the crowd arriving. Next time we're in town, we don't plan on going back. Oh, check your bill when you go to this place--they gave us the wrong tab to close out, but luckily we caught this before leaving.

I go here as an after work happy hour stop once a week or so. They have a decent draft beer selection but there is better at market cross pub and decent food but there is better next door. It does combine decent beer with solid bar food and great service with great happy hour pricing. Chicken wings are very good some of the bette wings I have had and the sandwich/wraps hit the spot but again are just average. Nice overall local joint with a good feel and solid beer and good bar food.

Searched on Yelp for a new spot to enjoy and Alibis sounded good. Well, it was really good. Nice place for drinks, food, music. Jasmine was a perfect bartender; funny, personable, professional. Thanks to Dez for an alternative dessert option. I'll definitely be back.

Had I tried something off of the cool looking menu here, which included Rarebit which sounds super interesting and I want it, I would be able to decide whether to add another star but I just went in for a drink so I can only comment on draft list, service, and ambiance. Yay! I'm a fan! (yelp did not make me say that I would have said it anyways.) Nevin and I sauntered in out of the absolutely perfectly warm Carlisle weather to get our bearings and a few beers. It was dead inside, which is to be expected at noon on a Saturday with gorgeous weather like that, so we were served directly by the owner himself! He was super friendly and gave us all sorts of local tips, we talked about how the chef/owner of Cafe Bruges was getting married that day and which restaurants were closed as a result (extraordinarily helpful timesaver/lifesaver/daysaver) and directions to the Boiling Springs Tavern just a few miles away. He did plug the Alibi's menu which is why we took a look which is when I learned that there's a thing called Rarebit and decided I must one day try. I was glad to hear him in support of the food and chef at his establishment. You could tell he genuinely loved the kitchen industry. I saw a plate of hummus go out to a couple of ladies and it looked good. The chef has a knife tattoo on his inner forearm SO COOL. Draft list is decent, versatile, crafty. My victory was super creamy and deliciously cool. Admittedly I first suggested that we go in there to get a drink because I watch that show Shameless on Showtime and the bar they frequent (dare I say live at) is called The Alibi and I love that show. That said, I'm so glad we went in because we had such a pleasant time and got great local tips and had delicious beer! Next time I'm in Carlisle I will be sure to head back for a little something during lunch to try out the food and thank the owner for his spot on suggestions.

Over the past few months, I've been to Alibis many times for Tuesday night trivia and now our new boardgame nights on Mondays. Most of the food I've received here was good to really good. My favorite is the apple/brie grilled cheese sandwich, but last time I tried the fish and chips and was surprised. Good portion, crispy and tasty. Beer selection is good and the staff has always been great. The place is clean and spacious for boardgames and trivia.

Alibi's is now under new ownership. One of the new owners is British and this may have influenced the menu to include Welsh Rarebit, roasted potatoes and Fish & Chips. The menu on line is not the one they actually use, which is a lot smaller. Good selection of keg beer but no cask beer or cider. Despite a Friday night the place was not busy for dinner. I tried the fish (cod) and chips which at $10 is a good price but unfortunately the quality could be better. The chips are not fresh cut and twice cooked, real chips, but your typical frozen fries straight from freezer to fryer. Better chips (frites) are available next door. There was only one person behind the bar, but she hustled, and wait between drinks was not long. There is a comfortable couch against one wall which is nice to see and wished they had more. A good pub has some comfortable couch seating. Carlisle is still lacking a good 'gastro' pub, so far Alibi's has not claimed this title.

A really happening place by Carlisle standards. They almost ALWAYS have something going on. The place is pretty lively at all times, but gets CRAZY around and after midnight, especially Thurs-Sat. A good mix of locals, Dickinson College and War College students. It's a nice mix and you'll never feel out of place no matter who you are and what you look like. We've been here several times and have never had a problem with the waitstaff or bartenders (as mentioned in many reviews). In fact, our experiences have always been stellar! The menu is appetizer heavy. Sandwiches, burgers, wings...they've got it all. We've only tried the wings..which were delicious! They offer more than 100 different beer selections by the bottle and on draft. It's a full bar, so there's almost everything and anything you could possibly want to drink. Tuesday-Trivia night & $5 burgers Wednesday-Open Mic Night @8p, Jack Daniels Shots $2.50 Thursday-$1.50 Natty Bohs & 35 cent wings. DJ@10P Friday-$5 Long Islands and Band Night Saturday-DJ@10P alibispirits.com This is a great place with a friendly and lively vibe. We will definitely be back!
