After only my FIRST trip to Nuts About Ice Cream just yesterday, I can say with much confidence that my relationship with The Cup (Bethlehem Dairy store) has come to an abrupt finish. (Maybe not like that but they've definitely become my parlor on the side.) Nuts About Ice Cream is like the boyfriend who gives you everything you'd obviously expect (joyous laughter, flowers on your birthday) but has traits your ex just couldn't and wouldn't EVER possess (he's fluent in Russian, he's hung out with Questlove.) For example-- Nuts About Ice Cream (NAIC) features your everyday flavors like chocolate, strawberry, banana, etc. but also offers you exciting fresh choices such as kulfi, orange blossom, green tea, and rose, to name a few of the exotic flavors in their circulation. The layout of the shop is large and open with ample seating, and also a collection of v cool, healthy house plants living in one corner near the front of the store. Service was awesome (and prices were competitive!)-- the woman who served us was very kind and patiently offered samples. She also meticulously layered our scoops of ice cream in a fashion that would let us taste each flavor in the best way possible!!! Finally let's talk about the jukebox in this place... At just 25 CENTS PER SONG you can be the DJ of parlor! Selection features a range of music from the Backstreet Boys, to TLC, to Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai, and beyond. And it's worth noting that a portrait of Elvis Presley looks down graciously upon you while you make your selection of music. If you haven't made it to the end of this review I just assume it's because you are on your way to Nuts About Ice Cream.

Very friendly service(owners). All ice cream and sorbets are made in house in small batches. I had raspberry cabernet sorbet the husband had saffron pistachio ice cream. Both were absolutely amazing! We sampled a few others which made our decision very hard because they were all very good. Decided to go with something that we have never heard of or had before. I highly recommend

Visited Nuts About Ice Cream for first time last week after moving daughter into Lehigh. Had the fig ice cream. Wow!!! Out of this world. The ice creams all have higher fat content and are thus very smooth and creamy to the palate. They offer some very out of the box flavors such as lychee and kulfi, both of which (along with the fig) I have never seen in Boston! The owners are very friendly and very much passionate about their ice creams!

I am not nuts about this place. The gentlemen owner was very friendly, the woman did not even acknowledge my friend and I. When my friend asked to try a traditional flavor she was told that she already knows what it tastes like. Yes, chocolate may be chocolate to some but considering in their smores ice cream they had teddy grahams in the ice cream we both figured the taste might be different. But that didn't matter he was not letting us try a 1/4 of tsp of his ice cream. Kind of ridiulous and bad customer service if you ask me. truth be told the place looked like it needed a good cleaner and was a mis mosh of stuff they must have collected over the years. It was pretty clear why the line for the cup was wrapped around outside and we were the only ones in nuts about ice cream.

After going nuts about this place for 8 years, this is my long overdue review! Let me begin with a story. One October evening, my fiance and I were walking down locust street (right adjacent to the shop), enjoying our delicious icecream. A group of men sitting at a porch on one of the houses there called out to us and said "Hey you know where you can get better icecream? Right down the street at the "cup". We looked at him and his friends, rolled our eyes and said "No you can't, it doesn't even come close to this". The story settles a popular debate (I fail to understand why people even try to debate this). Which of the two icecream parlours on Linden Street are better? Answe :Nuts about Icecream, by a long, long way. Nuts about Icecream is owned by a wonderful family who make the freshest, most delicious icecream on premises. For those who love their favorite simple flavors like chocolate, you are in danger (in the best possible way) of not only loving what you eat there but also packing a tub to take home. For those (and I stongly urge you too) willing to try out new flavors try a whole host of flavors unknown to most. Try their rose, mango, chikoo, saffron pistachio. Or their seasonal favorites like pumpkin, rum n raisins, eggnog (all made fresh and from real ingredients). Try their sundaes on a summer afternoon and melt away into orgasmic deliciousness. They also make custom icecream cakes! So for those of you who wants icecream and more icecream for their birthday, how about trying one here! The place was once a pharmacy and it still has the mid century bar stools, countertops and even a working juke box. People of the lehigh Valley, for those who have never been here, shame on you! Do not settle for just a "cup"! Go nuts about icecream at "Nuts about Icecream"!

A seriously serious ice cream joint run by the sweetest couple of folks. Salted caramel, peanut butter chocolate, butter brickel combo was wonderful...playing well with each other in my sundae cup. My partner had saffron pistachio, cardamom, and rose water. He liked it. The signature Indian flavors were fantastic. The decor could have used some sprucing up...but here it's all about what's in your cup or cone. Absolutely stop here if you're around.

I had the salted caramel ice cream and cookies and cream this past weekend. The ice cream itself was delicious, however, I was a little disappointed when I asked for a sample of the chocolate peanut butter and was told "you know what that tastes like". Definitely some unique flavors offered.

Great ice creams and sorbets made right on the premises. Unique collections of flavours too like pistachio and mango.

The Cup better watch out. Nuts About Ice Cream has now taken over as my go-to place for ice cream in the LV. I stopped by on a friend's recommendation the other day and wow was it good. I got a single dip of cake batter in a waffle cone. The pieces of cake used were huge and the ice cream was simply delicious. The family who owns it is also really friendly. The owner took a short class at Penn State on making ice cream. Keep this place in mind next time you're thinking about getting ice cream.

Nuts About Ice Cream deserves every bit of the 5 stars I gave it, and if I could hack into Yelp's server and somehow give them more, I would! This. Is. The Best. Ice. Cream. Let me count the reasons why I love Nuts About Ice Cream. 1. The ice cream is hand made by the owners 2. They use the highest quality of products 3. They have a huge variety of flavors, and always surprise me with new ones 4. They have non-traditional flavors, such as Rose, Ginger, etc. They also have a bunch of traditionally Indian flavors, such as Saffron Pistachio, Kulfi, Thandai, etc. 5. The owners are friendly, and know their stuff 6. This place has PLENTY of room to sit down and enjoy your ice cream The following flavors are so good, that you should go try them immediately, lest you leave this earth without completing something that should be on your bucket list: Chocolate Hazelnut (this is like Nutella, only better) Saffron Pistachio Rose Resist your urges to go to The Cup down the street. Trust me, doesn't come close.

Did I walk into the same place the other viewers did? I am an ice cream aficionado and will travel to the far ends of the earth for the cold stuff, so when I saw my fellow Yelpers' amazing reviews, I went right away to this supposed dairy pantheon. In the car on the way there, I was grinning like a kid while doing a cool 80 mph through a residential area to make it there before the 10 PM closing time. (I told you. I'm. Serious. About. Ice. Cream.) When I arrived, there was no menu boasting exotic and unique flavors. No saffron pistachio. No yummy creations spiked with cardamom--just chocolate and her friends boring and bland. I ordered pumpkin ice cream and I got this weird melange of something not pumpkin--it tasted like the ice cream scoop wasn't rinsed off so I got all of the night's ice cream blended into my scoop. I would have rather picked up a pint of Haagen-Dazs and made it a Blockbuster night. Fail.

Me and my boys love icecream! I was excited when I saw a Groupon for an icecream place I've never tried. Since it was 100 degrees today we thought it was a perfect day to give it a try. This is my first yelp review so I feel bad being negative. The place was easy to get to. It was clean and the woman working there was very friendly. one often boys and myself ordered a sundae and my other son ordered a vanilla milkshake. My icecream flavors were raspberry and coffee. My son got cookie dough and cotton candy. They were a nice size. We both got pineapple toppings. I was not impressed at all. The coffee icecream was not very flavorful and all of it just had a weird taste. Kind of sour. Since we were the only ones in the place it was quiet and I didn't want to be ride and ask my kids what they thought. We ate half of our stuff and were done. When we got out my son with the milkshake said it was very good, but the other said he did not like it at all. I've had a stomach ache ever since. They did have many flavors but I just did not like the taste. I also thought it was a but pricey. 18 for 2 sundae and a milkshake. I will not be back as there are many other yummy places in the Lehigh Valley.

I yelped this 3 years ago -- and in the intervening time 'Nuts about Ice Cream' has done the impossible: it has gotten EVEN BETTER!!!!!!! The fig remains superb; green tea is a delight; coconut makes you feel like you're sitting under a coconut palm; and if you see the chocolate hazelnut ... grab it and eat it immediately. Rub it on your face. Do whatever makes you happy with it. It is an exquisitely balanced delight. The last time I was in, yet another new flavor had appeared in the Pantheon of exotics ... called Lucuma ... ooh la la! It tastes like the top crunchy caramelized part of a creme brulee. DO NOT let your children eat this: they will be ruined for life. Keep this for yourself. And for that matter -- why am I even mentioning it to you? It will sell out and then I won't get any. There is no such flavor ... forget I mentioned it ... do not ask for it.

If you are an ice cream aficionado, do yourself a favor and try the Saffron Pistachio. Your tastebuds will thank you!!

This is possibly the best ice cream I've ever eaten in the US. It's grown up ice cream, with flavors you're unlikely to find elsewhere. As a confirmed chocoholic, I must commend the dark chocolate. They don't make it all the time but when they do, it's a must have. So rich, so delicious, so amazing! The owners & staff are very nice & accommodating.

Ice Cream is ice cream right? I think so... My boyfriend brought me here b/c he typically stops to pick up an order for work. I got chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate marshmallow in a cup. NO CONE, b/c I'm on a so-called diet.. :-) lol. Well it was very yummy. I really don't care for the 'exotic' flavors... But there were a few weird ones if that's your cup of tea. I remember a saffron pistachio and Rose. I think the boyfriend got a chance to try one said it was pretty amazing. Went to school right across the street, dont' know why it has taken me so long to try their delectable treats.

I'm so old school. I loved NAIC when it was located at Greenwich & Chelsea Aves a few blocks away in a smaller shop, especially because there was a patio area to enjoy your scoops of delicious COCONUT ALMOND JOY ice cream (my absolute favorite. Sometimes they don't have it and the guy says, "just have one dip of chocolate almond, and one of coconut!" not exactly the same but my second favorite flavor combo.) Their ice cream is the richest and best tasting around. I've tried some of the exotic flavours and they're not my taste but if you're into lychee, you won't be disappointed. In this "new" (it's been like 10 years) location in the former Kostas drug store, across from the high school, the atmosphere is not as friendly and inviting. In fact, there are waaaaaay too many signs with rules on them, because of their location across from the high school. So you're greeted by "No Public Bathrooms!!" and "No Loitering" and "This line for orders!!!" signs everywhere and that makes a difference for me. Plenty of inside seating, and the jukebox has been fun to play, but we usually pick up the ice cream to go.

  • L K.

This is THE best ice cream in the Lehigh Valley. Owner trained at Penn State, and the ice cream is competitive with The creamery in State College. The Cup is old school, and they BUY alot of their ice creams now... this place, all made by the owners. Do NOT Be afraid....

    (5)
  • Elizabeth K.

The BEST ice cream in area! This is the ONLY place we go for ice cream. The flavors are amazing and real. No fake flavorings or want to be flavors only the real thing! The Chocolate Hazelnut, Pineapple, Mint Chocolate Chip, Peach, Strawberry Cheese Cake....all amazing!!! If Nuts About Ice Cream is not open, we go with out ice cream.

Best ice cream ever. Best people ever. Ya gotta go!!! Over and over and over. Then go again!!!

  • Katie M.

This is the best ice cream in the Lehigh Valley! If you've never been there, make it a priority to get there soon! Their unique flavors are really something special. I haven't seen many (if any) of their fun flavors anywhere else. Their Bailey's ice cream around St. Patty's Day was FANTASTIC!

  • Bob B.

You have to drive to State College (or my place) to get better ice cream. I've been coming here for over 10 years. My favorite flavor is Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. The sorbets are awesome too. I like the exotic flavors, but I still have to have the CRT. Atmosphere is something I appreciate, and this place has barely changed since I first went in long ago. The people that own the place go out of their way to serve a quality product with a smile.

Some of the best ice cream I have ever had. They have very different flavors that they try to make taste like the flavor should. Its really interesting. They also have great customer service and the staff was very friendly.

this place is awesome. they left in the lunch counter from when it used to be kosta's (costa's?) and sort of centered the decor around it. my fave flav is chocolate raspberry truffle!

I struggled between a 3 and a 4, but hey, I'm feeling generous today. The shining star here in the ice cream. It's more of a custard than the ice cream you'll find at The Cup or Inside Scoop, but it's very good in its own way. Plus, if you like adventurous ice cream, I don't think anyone else in the Valley has the oddball selection that NAIC does...I saw pistachio saffron and green tea before deciding to go with my standard choice of chocolate. Their chocolate is more of a dutch process...very smooth! The single adult scoop was just under $3...but a very generous portion. I'd love to rate them higher but there's the whole issue with atmosphere. There's no outside seating whatsoever. The inside seating area seems to be trying to go for kitschy, but in reality, they've definitely not spent any money trying to keep the place up. The cabinets are starting to decay...and there's junk everywhere. It's just not my preferred environment for ice cream. I'd definitely go back, but I'd take it to go and go on a walk in the neighborhood. Also, credit cards only with a $10 minimum...technically against their credit card processing agreement, but they're not the only show in town to do so.

So, I'm a Bethlehemite, and when you think "gotta grab some ice cream" you inherently think The Cup. I was once amongst you, oh jaded many of Bethlehem, but I've changed, and so will you. So, the first time I went there, it was a late night (somewhere around 11?), and we walked in on a friends request. It was empty, with the owner sitting at the end of a 50s-esque soda bar.Empty place usually signals a 'bummer' waiting to unfold. I waltzed down the aisle and read the names. Chocolate this, coffee that, kulfi, and.... wait what? Kulfi? I had to ask, I tried a sample. Warm flavors of toasted cardamom pods washed over my tongue. Was there anise? Cinnamon? Or was it a dream? Absolutely wonderful. They had some stuff called Chikoo (an Indian Fruit? Radical), tried that, loved it. Then we moved on to the Saffron Pistachio. Chefs of the valley, you have to get on this. Not for the faint of heart. If you like Coldstone Creamery, and the lot, do the world a favor and don't get it. Epicurians, you are in for a real delight. Pollen-y saffron richness with this awesome roasted nut taste, a real winner. Very Persian in taste spectrum. So tonight I had the run of the mill Chocolate Hazelnut for my second go. You've got to try the entire spectrum before you can say "SOLD!". Creamy, delicious, super rich, and almost custard-like. Nutella lovers, get on this fast. Tonight it was smooth, no nuts chunks, but the owner informed me they often have whole Hazelnuts inside. Maybe an added plus for next time?

  • Avi R.

The ice cream was really novel and unique, especially the ginger. The owners were nice, but not as generous with the samples compared to my experiences elsewhere. It would have been five stars if not for the fact that two cones with a total of five scoops cost $10.

This is a rather large ice cream parlor directly across the street from Liberty High School. Ice cream is excellent. It is made in house and they have several unusual flavors like saffron and lychee. The owners are very nice and have a very interesting life story. Take the time to talk to them. Great place! Can't believe I didn't hear about it earlier!

I heard about this place from a friend of mine. I was itching to go there ever since I heard about it. This place surely did not disappoint. I tried the Saffron Pistachio and my wife tried the custard apple. Saffron Pistachio was really awesome. I am not an ice cream person but this one is different. I will surely go back again to try more exotic flavors at this place. The owners were great and welcoming

This is by far the best ice cream in the valley and probably anywhere!! It is homemade, handmade, and made on the premises. They not only have traditional flavors but also exotic flavors like saffron pistachio and rose. Taste them first and you'll find a new favorite! The family who owns it is so sweet and it is nice to support a small business who have nice owners too! The Cup? No more! You will go nuts over Nuts about Ice Cream!

The tagline Yelp provides for its five-star rating is quite appropriate for Nuts About Ice Cream: "As good as it gets!" I visited about 2.5 weeks ago - it's never too cold for ice cream. Nuts About Ice Cream is a quaint parlor offering unique and simple homemade ice cream creations. As a frequent dipper, pumpkin is one of my most sought after flavors, and theirs is great. I was also particularly interested in their culturally transcendent flavors of Pistachio Saffron and Cardamom Kulfi. They too were delicious! I plan to stop by whenever I'm in town.

Somehow I missed this place in the previous few years of living in Bethlehem. I will admit that someone recommended it and I dismissed the recommendation (to my wife's annoyance i gotta add!) because of its outward appearance and its location. It looks pretty rundown and while I usually gravitate towards hole-in-the-wall establishments the fact that it sits across from the high school led me to assume the worst (industrial product dished out fast for 17 year olds...) Then I read somewhere that they had homemade Saffron Pistachio and I realized that I had potentially made a tremendous error. And did I ever. This may be the best ice cream I have ever tasted. I have gone twice now with my boys so have had the opportunity of sampling several different flavors. Saffron Pistachio is GREAT, but for my money Kulfi is maybe the finest ice cream I have ever consumed outside of a cinnamon variety from Eismanufaktur in Berlin (a review for another day.) With subtle but persuasive notes of cardamon it hints at a good Chai (which I am a fan of) and hits another 3-4 spice flavors without any one overwhelming. I have had some 'crazy' flavors before, this isn't one of them. Instead of bombarding the palate this is light and refreshing and I feel like I could write ode after ode to it. Salty Caramel is very good, although I have to admit I have had better elsewhere... I would be remiss here if I didn't note that both my boys would rather go to Bethlehem Diary Store. They like the 'stuff' there and my 7 year old complained bitterly that there was no gumball ice cream available at Nuts About Ice Cream. I guess compromises will have to be made, but I will sneak in a trip here as often as possible going forward!

Yelp brought us here. More 5-stars, justifiably so. Excellent chocolate almond. This was a quick decision as they were near closing time. Many interesting homemade choices. We will go again and sample. The setting was not fancy being, reportedly, an old drug store but we weren't there for the decor. The scoops were sizable. Bethlehem certainly has many gemstones.

With all of the opportunities for partaking in some ice cream (and now frozen yogurt) in and around Bethlehem, this is definitely our default location. First and most importantly, their flavor options are the most varied and can't be beat. While I find it hard to stray from my usual scoop of Saffron Pistachio in a sugar cone, I am sometimes tempted by new and seasonal varieties such as Fig, Kulfi, and Custard Apple. My husband is quite the fan of their extra thick shakes, as is my 2 year old daughter. They have fabulous sorbets as well, with Passion Fruit being my personal favorite and one you should not pass up. What also needs to be noted is how incredibly friendly and accommodating the owners, the Joshi family, are when you are there. We are greeted by friendly "hellos" every time we enter the shop. A stop at this ice cream shop should be made any time you are in Bethlehem. They have sundaes, cones, shakes, and most definitely the best ice cream in town. One helpful thing to note, they do accept credit cards, but it must be for a charge over $10.

  • Daniel H.

Amazing ice cream. Their flavors are best described as a mix between ethnic flavors and non-traditional takes on the usual. Try the Kulfi, Thandal, and Rose flavors. You'll throttle people to get a second serving. Actually just get the largest size and ask for multiple flavors. Also their take on pistachio with Indian flavors is outstanding. The service is also really good. The owner was real nice and ran my credit card when I was out of cash but wasn't going to be buying $10 worth of ice cream! Lightyears beyond the Cup. Much more complex flavors and textures compared to Coldstone. It's just DIFFERENT. Trust me go and try it you won't regret it. Only caveat is that the parking on that block is awful especially if you are southbound on Linden Street.

Great ice cream and i love the family that owns it =] But for real, so super good and they have the most variety of unique flavors I have ever encountered (ginger, fig, pistachio, etc). It is in a convenient location and there is always plenty of seating. You def need to come here!

Best ice cream in Bethlehem! I (usually) only eat Butter Pecan and there's is the BEST I've ever had! The owners are incredible and passionate. There is no comparison in town!

Great ice cream and i love the family that owns it =] But for real, so super good and they have the most variety of unique flavors I have ever encountered (ginger, fig, pistachio, etc). It is in a convenient location and there is always plenty of seating. You def need to come here!

I had the salted caramel ice cream and cookies and cream this past weekend. The ice cream itself was delicious, however, I was a little disappointed when I asked for a sample of the chocolate peanut butter and was told "you know what that tastes like". Definitely some unique flavors offered.

Just found this place tonight. Good service, great ice cream. I recommend the chocolate almond or the butter pecan. We will be back

Fail.

This is THE best ice cream in the Lehigh Valley. Owner trained at Penn State, and the ice cream is competitive with The creamery in State College. The Cup is old school, and they BUY alot of their ice creams now... this place, all made by the owners. Do NOT Be afraid....

Some of the best ice cream I have ever had. They have very different flavors that they try to make taste like the flavor should. Its really interesting. They also have great customer service and the staff was very friendly.

This is a rather large ice cream parlor directly across the street from Liberty High School. Ice cream is excellent. It is made in house and they have several unusual flavors like saffron and lychee. The owners are very nice and have a very interesting life story. Take the time to talk to them. Great place! Can't believe I didn't hear about it earlier!

this place is awesome. they left in the lunch counter from when it used to be kosta's (costa's?) and sort of centered the decor around it. my fave flav is chocolate raspberry truffle!
