We recently moved to the Philadelphia area but prefer to make the hour trip back to Southern Chester County for what we believe is the best sushi around! They have a huge menu and their rolls are larger than your average sushi joint. Don't let the strip mall or the mushroom smell fool you- Sake Hana has a very modern/trendy atmosphere and can even accommodate large parties in their own private room.

Last night I went for the third time and had the best experience yet. I'm not super into raw sushi and I absolutely love how they separate the menu between "raw" and "cooked." Sometimes I avoid sushi because I'm not sure what I'm really getting, but here that's not the case and I love it. I had the double happiness roll last night- delish. I've also has the general tsaos chicken which was amazing, too. Last night my server, Melissa, was excellent and lovely. It was a great experience all around, and if you're into Asian food, definitely give this place a shot!

Wow!!!!! This place does not disappoint! My friend and I were looking for some yummy sushi after visiting VaLa vineyards and we stumbled on this gem. At first it looked a little shady, the front is VERY unassuming, but as you walk in it looks like a place in the city! Super cute and sheik! The food was friggin EXCELLENT!!!! The soup was delicious, the veggie Gyoza was perfect and the rolls were put of this world!!!! I had the avocado roll and the ( jeez, I forget the name of it) but it was the roll with shrimp tempura and steak( filet) on top. Outstanding! The prices are right and I was impressed. My only complaint is that I live 40 minutes away, haha:) I hope they open one in Newtown square! A girl can dream, right?!

The only thing shocking about this place is that it is located in avondale, pa. This place is so good they have like 4 or 5 sushi chefs working on tuesday nights. We get sushi, kids get chicken teriyaki, everyone is happy. I wouldn't say it is cheap, and it's not always the fastest of places, but you can not complain at this place. Service, food, decor they get it all right!!!! I am here once a week, minimum....

I typically go to NYC or Philly for good Asian food. However, this place is a gem. Every meal I've eaten here has been good. From the Kani salad to the Glaciel Point Oysters to the Cashew Lovers. Friendly and helpful staff.

I went in to order take out the other day and waited almost an hour for my food. I only ordered two special rolls and a Hibachi steak but it took what seemed like forever for them to prepare my food. They only had a couple tables in dining and a few people at the bar. I saw a couple take outs come out ready but they were not mine even though the people were still not here to pick it up yet. On the other hand, I was waiting there with my friend for our food and they didn't try to speed up our order at all. This just shows how they are bad at time management and had no better sense of priority. The people whose not there had their food prepared and sit there going cold while my friend and I were made to wait for our food. I don't think that is smart management or good judgment in play. So, that's my rant on being made to wait for that long. Now going on to the food I ordered. The two sushi rolls were pretty good and fresh, but not worth the price I paid. The hibachi steak was made the way I like and tasted good but again not worth the price they charge. I was surprised it did not come with soup or salad. There was no choice of steam rice or fried rice either. Again, considering the hibachi steak costs $19, I think it should come with at least a choice of soup or salad. It only came with a small container of white rice and that's it. Maybe I am a little too pampered by the Japanese steakhouses I used to go to that this place is overall way overpriced for the quality of the food they served and the service they give. I'm sorry for having to give them only two stars as I know there are people that really gave this place 5 star reviews. This was my second time ordering take out from this place and both times we waited for our food. First time wasn't that bad so we thought we should give it another try. Well, now we don't think we are in a hurry to return. Maybe we will give it a third try some time again.

I love the chicken teriyaki dish here as well as the chicken and broccoli. My boyfriend raves about the sushi and has never complained. We just love to make a date night out of Sake Hana when we can. The staff is usually very friendly and the owner is almost always around to check on customers.

Very disappointed! I've been here at least two other times and continue to think the next time will be better. When will I learn! Just had appetizers and calamari. If I wanted boxed frozen seafood, I could've went to traded Joe's and bought it myself! The appetizer was okay but what you pay doesn't reflect the quality you would expect. Save your money and head to lily's for great sushi.

The sushi here is awesome. They also have cooked and non-sushi items for those who are less adventurous. The atmosphere is a little odd (modern, maybe?) with the white walls, colored lights, and big tv's in the front (bar) part. They are great about customer service (have comped us or given us free dessert for mistakes) and accommodate large parties well. It does get kinda loud and they are really busy on the weekends.

I have eaten here many times. Their special rolls are the best around. I love the Mango Tango and the Double Happiness. So many to choose from and I have never been disappointed. My kids 8 and 10 love the bento boxes off the kids menu. There are several choices even for my picky eater. It is also one of their favorite places to eat. Win, win.

I had dinner here with 3 other people on a Saturday night. The dim lighting in this place reminded me of Sushi Sumo in Delaware. My group sat at the sushi bar, which was unoccupied. It was fun watching the 5 sushi chefs behind the bar, whipping up yummy masterpieces. This place was packed by the way, but our waitress was still checking in with us as we waited. Also we were all made a free little appetizer for sitting at the sushi bar. The specialty rolls were on par, price wise, with my other favorite sushi place, Sushi Sumo. The thing is that Sake Hana's rolls are larger. I ordered the Fisherman's Wharf (Salmon tempura, mango, avocado, topped with lobster salad, honey wasabi and chili sauce) and Spicy Girl (Shrimp tempura, mango, topped with spicy Salmon, seaweed salad, spicy mayo.) The Fisherman's was really good. Even though this place was packed, the manager made it a point to come over and speak with my group; asking us how everything was. This was my first time here and it will not be my last. This rating is after trying Kyoto, Okura, Hibachi Sushi and Supreme Buffet, and Sushi Sumo in Delaware.

This place is nice, but not my favorite. The atmosphere is weird, the colored lights on the ceiling and behind the sushi bar are not my idea of great lighting and are actually really distracting. Service isn't great. The first time I came in I ordered the sushi lunch entree or sushi dinner entree, can't remember how late it was. What came out was really beautiful, piled high with all kinds of fantastic fish; because it was the sushi boat special for two. And I paid for it. The second time I came in I waited two whole hours (a friend timed it) for food beyond edamame and it took my friend complaining to get two drinks comped. When it came out though, everything was delicious. I know a lot of people that really like this place, so I'm willing to give it another chance, and I have been since then and had nothing wrong, but nothing spectacular enough to make me forget the first two times. For me, this place is hit or miss, and would never be my choice on Friday night.

Very good food and nice decor. But a bit expensive. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. The bar drinks are expensive. I liked the wonton soup. The noodles were thin and they had the enoki mushrooms which added a nice unique touch. I don't eat raw fish or meat sushi so I can't tell you how that is, but the vegitarian rolls were excellent and the cooked food is great.

I was disappointed by the way the manager handled the fact the we found a very large piece of glass in my husband's drink.

We are sushi snobs and have eaten in some of the best rated sushi restaraunts around the US (NY, Vegas, Baltimore, Toronto, Chicago). This place is right up there. It has some of the best sushi I have ever had. Rice is perfect, Ingrediants are very fresh. It is good enough that it is starting to attract patrons from further away which creates a good crowd on weekend nights. They did expand into the shop next door so they have more tables but expect a wait on Sat night at 7pm. They seem to have problems with holding on to staff. There is a lot of turnover. THe manager/owner seems stern and might be a bit much for some staff but he very responsive to customers. The atmosphere is a little odd for the location (strip mall near mushrrom farms and horse farms) with its trendy lighting and dark furniture. If you are stumped on the menu try a Sake Hana roll and a Mango Tango roll with a iced glass of Diamond sake. Oh and try the calamari app.... it is great.

This place is really nice and well decorated. Everything was fresh! If you're looking for a little more upscale sushi place this is your place. They have very friendly workers.

Best sushi in the area. Their calamari is great along with all of their specialty rolls. Can be a little pricey depending on what you order but you're paying for the quality. Service has always been good except for once. We had a blonde server with a ponytail who was the rudest waitress I've ever met. Accused us of under tipping but the two of us counted it so she must of counted wrong. We always leave at least 20% but even so that's besides the point. It's not her place to make a huge scene even if she gets a bad tip. Since then we've avoided going because of how offended we were. Other than her the foods great, atmosphere is great, and they have good beer and sake. Also the owner or manager is always walking around which is nice to see.

Sushi is the best around. Customer service was always great, and I've been here a lot. I like the atmosphere of the place. The ladies who work the bar are super sweet.

Best sushi in the area. We will never go back to Okura, Kyoto or Padi. My husband and I have brought several other couples over the past 6 months and they all feel the same way! Lots of options of specialty rolls on the menu. Some of our favorites are Land and Sea, Sake Hana, Supreme Tuna, Rock and Roll and Spicy Mama. Thai Basil Stir Fry with Chicken is awesome. I'm not a fan of the Amazing Shrimp, too sweet for me. Atmosphere is cool with all the changing colors of lights. It definitely doesn't feel like you're in Avondale! Sake Hana is definitely worth trying, you will be hooked!

I'd say about 2.5 stars. We were here the end of November. I wouldn't make an effort to return, but that doesn't mean I want them to fail either (it wasn't that bad). I thought some of the rolls were decent, and some were pretty meh (very mayonnaise-y). Some of the other appetizers were probably better than the sushi. Service was ok, but huge pet peeve of mine... the waitress took it upon herself to fill our glasses of wine very full and she emptied the bottle on the first go round (there were only 4 of us). She also couldn't judge very well and filled one glass very full and the others less so... very silly. Would prefer if they just put one finger full in the bottom of everyone's glass, and leave it at that... (or, if it's a really nice restaurant, they may keep returning and refilling glasses to 1-2 finger level). The manager was very earnest seeming. Decor is ok; kind of wanna-be hip; blue lighting (but this is a sushi place in a strip mall in semi-rural PA that we're talking about here...).

We both had the salads with ginger dressing-- very gingery but tasty and refreshing. I had the Rainbow Roll and the Spicy Yellowtail Roll, my bf had the Dynamite Roll and the Spicy Scallop Roll. Everything was delicious and we would definitely return. The manager checked on us to ask how everything was and thank us for coming-- a nice touch.

One of the best Sushi places in the area. My wife and I started going here shortly after it opened and we have never been disappointed. Their sushi has always tasted very fresh, full of flavor, and prepared beautifully. I have also recently become a huge fan of their Drunken Noodle dish. Very flavorful and not greasy at all. The seasoning that they use for their spices also has a fresh flavor and the levels are pretty consistent each time you order. We also found that our 3 year old daughter is a huge fan as well. Their fried rice is amazing. The chicken that they put in there is also very fresh and the dish itself is not greasy like some that you get from other Asian restaurants. We have also had great experiences with their waiting staff. Everyone has been very pleasant, attentive, and made our dining experience very enjoyable!
