All was okay until my son found a long hair between the bun and meat of his burger. GROSS

I came to Allentown on business for a couple weeks, and our team has been there twice so far. The first time was a Thursday night and it happens to be karaoke night. NO I did not sing, but the beers were cold and the shots were good. The second night we went for food and drinks. Tex Mex food and nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was tasty. We ordered a couple Mini nachos for apps, which were decently size, but when our main dishes came they were same size as the mini apps. The food was still good and service was friendly both nights. If I lived here in PA I would definitely consider this a main place to go with friends and coworkers.

    The food was Delish!

Decent place with a good selection of tex-mex food. Food was well priced and of sufficient quantity. Beer selection was average and appropriately priced. Staff was OK. Bartender had some friends sitting at the corner of the bar so she spent most of her time hanging out with them and wasn't really paying attention. Average place, wouldn't go out of my way to hit it up again, but would stop by if I was in the area.

I called to ask if they have a lunch menu, the person who answered the phone explained they don't have a lunch menu or lunch specials. On to the next one...

Went here on saturday. Our server was good. She was probably upset she had to serve such garbage food. This place sucks. So sad. 10 years ago you couldn't get in this place on a Friday night. My girlfriend and I love supporting the local places, but I can't give this place another chance. I want to curse in this post...that's how bad this place has become. P.S. girlfriends quote "new menu, same shit food"

The food at the Sunset Grille is not very good. All processed food that is simply heated. Recommend stopping in for a drink but not the food. Would like to see an improvement to the quality.

Ate here for my birthday a few weeks ago. Food and service and drink disappointing. The appetizer was okay, therefore a second star. I wouldn't go back here. The atmosphere/decor suggested it should be a cool hangout but it is lacking something, probably a combination of all of the above.

Ordered the Mango Jalapeño Margarita - I do love pepper infused tequila. But this tasted like they dumped the pepper juice out of the jar into the glass. We asked for more mango, which they gave us, but did not help. All 4 of us felt the same way. Then we ordered Cheese and Green Chili Nachos. Could be tied for worst nachos ever - there was only a sprinkle of cheese on them. When we complained, the waitress took them away, then brought them back and said "I put more cheese on them and put them in the microwave." Yes she did - complete with the lettuce and fresh veggies which were originally on there - making them hot and limp. Can't say that we will ever go back.

Stopped in for the first time tonight for dinner. Sat on the patio since it was so nice out! I had the Shrimp Fajitas and my Husband had the Cobb Salad- Shrimp were large and had good flavor- salad came with a piece of cornbread which was yummy. Good selection of draft beers- no complaints!

I was specifically wanted to eat at a restaurant with outdoor seating due to the gorgeous weather over the weekend so when we pulled up we looked to see if there were available tables outside and there were quite a few empty. When we asked the host to eat outside he said there was nothing available but after I asked how long the wait will be he went out and checked and there was a table available. The waitress came over right away wanting to take our drink and app order but we didn't even get a chance to look at the menu. After we ordered a water and two margaritas it took a long time to get the margaritas and when we got then it tasted as if there was no alcohol in them. My daughter's soup came out lukewarm and when our entrees came out they were barely warm. Too bad we had to ask for utensils so by the time we got silverware our food was even colder. The hot wings were super dry and crispy, not good at all. My ribs were not tasty and cold and it looked like BBQ sauce was thrown on as they were getting delivered to me. The BBQ shrimp wrapped in bacon looked like they were microwaved. The pork fajitas were somewhat edible but again cold. I ordered a glass of wine which the server never brought to me, even after bringing things 3 times to the table next to us. We normally don't complain about a bad meal, we just won't ever return but when the manager asked how it was we told him. They did end up taking off rib and shrimp combo but we had to tell waitress not to bother bringing the wine since the meal was done. We won't be back. Next time I want outdoor seating there are a lot of other places to go.

Love this place. Of course, my opinion is probably skewed being that I live right down the street but we visit quite often. The food is good but not great. The beer selection is good and the margaritas kick ass. It's a local tex-mex bar with an awesome bartender named Rick.

The food is usually good here, but the service leaves something to be desired. Last month my family and I ate here. Our appetizer order was wrong and so were two of our entrees. Tonight I stopped over by myself for a bite to eat. After being shown my table, I waited over ten minutes for a server to acknowledge me. Several waiters walked past me and said nothing. I got tired of waiting and left. I headed over to Liu House for some good Chinese food.

Been going here for over 15 years, tonight we were treated so rudely we got up and left. We were seated quickly then promptly ignored for 20 minutes, there were hardly any people there too. They actually started waiting on people who were seated after us!! no one seemed to care even when we got up and left. This place used to be my favorite place by far, I'll never go back. Too many other places with good service to waste your time here.

Great wings and bar food. I would avoide the house margaritas an stick with the could-poured draft beers. Their staff was very attentive. Try the SUNSET GOLD wings. xoxo - see you next timeQ

My first visit to the Sunset Grille will definitely not be my last. Although our table for 4 was quite small and extremely close to others, our waitress was very accommodating when we asked to be moved to a larger table not far away. Service was prompt and friendly and there was no short supply of drinks on our table. We had several apps and each of us had the Sunset Sizzlin Fajita entree with a combination of beef and chicken and they were quite good. All of them came out of the kitchen sizzling on an iron skillet and we were afforded the opportunity to "build our own". All told this was a positive experience and one that encourages me to visit again soon.

I've been here several times. Good food, good prices. Full bar service. The staff is friendly. Good Tex-Mex dishes as well as American food. Definitely check it out!

I've been coming to Sunset Grille for at least 5-6 years now. I've always loved their mixed drinks and specifically their Buffalo Chicken Salad in the taco shell bowl. I haven't found a single place in the Valley who could make a salad with that simple, yet delicious, combination of ingredients like Sunset Grille. So you can imagine how absolutely dispirited I felt to find out that they (must have) changed management and the menu. We had ordered their Chile con Queso as an appetizer. It was so watery and tasted as if it was left in the kitchen for hours. The Chipotle Burrito my boyfriend got was way too sweet, instead of the bite it was supposed to have, the rice was dry, the beans were watered down and the lettuce was brown. My salad was made up of the cheapest ingredients I've ever seen; the taco shell was not the same (tasted almost like stale chips), the lettuce was only a spring green mix (very stringy; no actual leaves) and the buffalo chicken was beyond hot that it wasn't even enjoyable. The whole experience has completely turned me off from Sunset Grille, which is so disheartening to me since I've been a loyal customer for years now. Such an absolute shame.

Sunset Grille is located within minutes of a major Industrial park in Allentown PA. The restaurant sits by itself and has its own parking lot. It is a great place to visit after work and enjoy the happy hour and perhaps some great bar food and dinner. The menu is heavy on the tex-mex side however it maintains its unique spin on the dishes. We had some chicken winds ordered and they came with some robust flavors. The wings themselves were meaty and not the kind that you see elsewhere there is barely any meat on the bones. I have tried several items on the menu and the quality of the food is good. Service is on par with average but the bar ambiance steals the show.

Alcohol is probably the only thing that if good here. Today I thought to myself how many times before I have had bad food at a restaurant. After today all others that I may have had seem to be good. I have never in my life been so disappointed after eating out. The service hear is so so. If you are in the area and want to go to a bar for drinks and food go to PJ Whelihams.

When they redid the menu, they ruined Mexican Fiesta Night along the way. What was once the best thing they offered, and our primary reason for heading there on a Wednesday night, is no longer worth the trip.

we were a group of 8. About 10 minutes after being seated the room slowly became incredibly warm. We asked someone to turn on the air and it was bearable. The food was very good but the service was bland and slow. Our server had no personality. Another 20 minutes in and it gets warm again! We're sweating! We asked for ketchup and get handed an empty bottle so we track down another server for another bottle. The ladies room was very dirty. This was old dirt too, not just from yesterday. I had a portabella wrap and it was very good but maybe I will wait to go again till winter.

Probably Shannon (wife) and my favorite casual place to eat and have a drink in Breinigsville. It's very close to our home and we always have a good experience there. The food is classic bar food, with a mexi-style. Personally, I love the fajita salad, served in a taco shell, but their Fresno burger is also top-notch. Sunset Grille's wings are probably what their known for with their famous Sunset Gold sauce. The sauce is combines some heat with a little tang and sweet flavors. Whatever it is, it works and it's the house specialty. Besides the good food, the wait staff is very attentive and friendly. You never have an empty glass for long and they are always nearby if you need anything. The only negative I can think of is the outdoor seating, while comfortable on a warm day, is very close to a somewhat highly-traveled road which leads to some unwanted outside noise. Other than that, it's a pretty fun place to have lunch or spend a couple hours at night. The bar area can get pretty full on the weekends, but the bartenders move pretty quick and it's usually a pretty fun place. Overall, I'd give it a B+/A-

Seems like quality is slipping. My draft beer tasted like the lines are in desperate need of a cleaning. Seafood enchilada was bland. Beans are still good!

Wow. This place is really subpar. THe service was good but that's where it ends. THe beer selection is below average but maybe meets the needs of the clientele. The food was not good. The Mexican Rice was very mushy and didn't even seem like rice. The burrito was small and overall unappealing. The Chipolte pulled pork that filled the burrito is tasty but everything that surrounds it is bad. I would not waste my time coming back to this place. THis is not good Tex Mex.

I came with my husband to try out Sunset Grille for the first time. I am not a fan of Mexican cuisine, but I thought I would give it a try because I have heard great things about this place. Oh My Gosh, was my mind totally blown! I never thought that I would like anything on the menu, but I do! We got the enchilada and chimichangas and they were awesome! Also had a drink special, which was too strong for me, but I am a lightweight so don't believe me on that lol. I will definitely go for a Margarita the next time we visit.

Not sure what has happened at the Sunset - Beer and mixed drinks still good. Food bland, service sub-par, attitude of the hostess was that of " You are bothering me by asking to be seated" It's a shame; use to be a place to enjoy a good meal. Chef Ramsey where are you?

We had a late dinner here after being on the road all day. The place was packed; we had a wait of about a half hour. The food and service were good, but nothing exceptional.

We ordered nachos as an app. Small portion compared to many places. That is not as much an issue as the dish itself was made cheaply and it was obvious. There were few chips to even scoop up the lettuce and tomatoes. We did get a combo meaning there should have been pork , beef, and chicken in the mix. The meat was barely noticeable as well as the lack of cheese etc. For $7.95 we were expecting more. I got a burger for an entree. No issue. My wife got a chicken cheessteak wrap, no complaints. There are some great bar and grills in the area. Please try a little harder.

Ambiance is a more refined higher endish sports pub/tex Mex place. Whatever that means, I cannot really put my finger on it, but it is a decent place. The patio is nice, however during higher traffic times is very hard to hear since there are a lot of large trucks that cross that particular intersection. . It faces east so the only sunset you will actually ever see is in the parking lot. There food is slightly above average and priced fairly. Some items like the nachos run way to salty for me. There is one standout which I do go back for. The chipotle pork in any of there texmex dishes. Excellente, give it a try if you go. The service is hit or miss though, the last time i went they could not even find the channel the phillies game was on in a restaurant filled with TVs. The manager swore the game did not start yet, however blackberry with live updates said 2 to 0. It is worth a try if you are in that area of West Allentown but it is definitely not a destination restaurant.

Unimpressive menu offerings and uncomfortable seating. Ambiance was ok, but our server seemed more interested in chatting with his friends at another table than taking care of his other tables, including us. When our meals arrived the salad had spoiled and slimy lettuce and the chicken had an unusual and unpleasant flavor that was likely associated with a lack of freshness as opposed to Tex-Mex seasonings. The flies in the dining room didn't help the experience. This restaurant had a lot of potential but the lack of attention to simple and basic details left us not interested in a return trip.

The Sunset's wings and shrimp cannot be beat, and their fajitas are amazing. I love their portabella burger too, and their sweet potato fries? To *die* for. I don't think there's a single menu item I DON'T like! The staff is always very attentive when I'm there. My one gripe about this place is the drink menu. The margaritas are pre-made and come out of a machine, so they're disturbingly sweet and taste nothing like a real margarita. Their martinis are good, but pricey. A great beer selection, but again, a little pricey for this area. I would LOVE to see a better happy hour here. Why not do half-price REAL margaritas and martinis, etc? I'm aware that they already do different drink specials on different days of the week for a few hours in the evening, but those of us who work late are never around to enjoy them! I'm already a big fan of this place so if they upped the ante on the happy hour, the Sunset would truly be golden in my eyes.

8 people dining, bill under $160! amazing food, environment and service! i'm from NY and took a trip down to PA with my boyfriend and his family. We stayed in a hotel in Allentown and there was literally nothing to eat anywhere by the time it hit 11pm. Trusty ol' Yelp informed me that there was a place named Sunset Grille about 2 miles away that was open and had good reviews so we went and boy were we in for a treat. It was really late so there were only 2 people at the bar and the bartender was also our server. I forgot his name (and feel awful about it!) but his service was spectacular. He was friendly, helpful and just a great person to be around. There were 9 of us at the table, most of us got salads to start (I got Italian dressing and it was the best I've ever had). Their wings are great, really crisp on the outside. I had their cheeseburger medium well and it was juicy and flavorful. My boyfriend had ribs and chicken, perfectly seasoned with their homemade BBQ sauce on top. Overall, great experience! If you're in the area and are hungry on a late-night or anytime really, swing by Sunset Grille!

This place has really gone downhill in recent years. The service is so-so, the decor shows signs of age, and the beer selection is sub par for the area. The food is generally fair; the salads--cobb and buffalo chicken--are the best things on the menu. Decent enough if you're in the neighborhood, but not worth going out of the way for.

My husband and I headed over here on Friday for a an inexpensive night out after it was recommended to us. It wasn't exactly where I pictured it - we took the Kulpsville exit off 22. Felt like nowheresville. The place was packed - and LOUD! No worries about kids here. They had an outside patio, which had a 20 minute wait so we opted for inside instead. I got a margherita, which I thought was tasty. Parents went here and said theirs was terrible. Maybe it has to do with the bartender? The food is Tex-Mex. Read sorta like Chili's only local and not as expensive. Overall I thought the food was good. The Quesadillas were yummy. But I thought it was also a bit bland. For two alcoholic beverages, an appetizer, and two meals it was $32 so not bad. Would I go running back? No. Is is a good option if you're in the area? Sure.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
