If you ain't Dutch you ain't much applies here. Most people outside the local PA Dutch/ Hungarian culture have not a clue what it is. A Kiffle is a cookie/pastry with flavored jelly in the middle. These are a Christmas tradition but are great as a treat any time of year! The Kiffle Kitchen also makes other great baked goods like the cream cheese chocolate cupcakes. They had a t shirt they sell that says "Got Kiffles?" If you are smart you do! Yes they are expensive but worth every penny!

Every Christmas my mother in law sends us a box of homemade kiffles, but this year she wasn't able to do so because of an injury and instead mailed us a a small box from the Kiffle Kitchen. WOW! These are really, really good kiffles! Fresh, flaky, and all around delicious. The fact that they taste like they were made that morning despite being flown across the country is a huge A-plus in my book! Now that I know about this place, I'm no longer waiting until Christmas time to get my kiffle fix - this is going to be a year long treat. In fact my husband is thinking of telling his mom to injure herself more often so we can keep getting Kiffle Kitchen pastries....sshhh!

These kiffles are amazing!!! They are almost as good as my German Oma's (Grandma's). Almost. Since my grandma is now in her late 80's, and she's not doing much baking anymore, these are certainly the next best thing. We picked up 2 dozen of the walnut kiffles, which are my favorite, but there were a ton of other flavors on offer as well - raspberry, apricot, chocolate, and more! They also had black bottom cupcakes and some other types of cupcakes for sale in both regular and mini sizes. I did not pick any of these up this time, but I know from prior visits that they are also pretty delicious. I will say that the kiffles are a little pricey, but having helped make them in the past, I know it's kind of a lot of work, so that kind of validates that price and, of course, the taste makes them well worth it.

NOT the Real Hungarian Kiffles, a tender cream cheese and butter cookie with jam or nut filling. They are closer to a cannoli and made to Ship Well! Not to be authentic. Just like a hothouse tomato. At .69 a piece or almost $9/dozen, WAY Overpriced. In what universe, does butter, cream cheese, sugar, flour, vanilla & intermediate baking experience cost 2+times filet mignon or lobster? Buy yourself the Surf and Turf dinner, and make the kiffles yourself. NOTHING beats the smell or taste of freshly baked cream cheese kiffles. Hungarian Kiffles are closer to Ruglach. The only difference between the two, is kiffle filling is sealed into a pouch before rolling into a crescent. The Ruglach filing is spread on then rolled. Life's too short to not learn to make your own kiffles! They are SO much more tender, flakey, & scrumptious!

Yep, baked goods are tasty but expensive. Worth it if you really like certain items like kiffles or shoo fly pie.
