Can't really go wrong with dollar beers! The staff here is friendly and the service is quick. Always pretty clean and pretty decent food.

Well my whole family got sick after eating here yesterday. The service was terrible. I had to ask for my drink twice. The server seemed in too much of a hurry to even take our order. The rice was old and crunchy. The atmosphere is awful. The fortune was the best part.

Best chinese food I've ever had. Sesame chicken was perfectly crispy and tender, Mongolian beef so flavorful and just done right. Service was excellent. Best food I've had in salem was oregon.

yeah one of the best, again these guys sell more Chinese food of exceptional quality than anyone else in town. just look at the checkout line. and the dining room is usually at least 70 percent filled

It was the husband's birthday so I decided to get him more Chinese food then he could possibly handle in one evening. For $40 I got: crab puffs; egg rolls; fried shrimp; sweet and sour chicken; diced almond chicken; beef and pea pods; house yakisoba; and, of course, fried rice. This is the third evening in a row that we will be having Chinese again. Although I detest most Chinese, I was pleasantly surprised to find yakisoba on their menu. That's not all that common and although they were overdone for my taste, the flavor was quite good. The best part about this place, aside from the super low prices, is the friendliness of the staff. I ordered to go and was offered water for my wait. They provided my whole huge order in a big box and even provided extra hot mustard and red sauce--and I didn't even ask for it. I LOOOOVE the hot mustard and red sauce. This place was able to (slightly) change my opinion of Chinese. I will return for a dine in experience and when I do I'm going to try those Singapore fried noodles.

The server washed condiment in the hand washing sink. I never saw her was her hands after cleaning a table. She filled water pitchers in the hand washing sink also. The food did not taste like I expected, it was blah. I don't believe I will go back.

Well I have eaten here twice. First time I ordered chicken yakisoba, second time got that again non crispy this time since I had no idea they make crouton like noodles..and 10 crab puffs. The food is bland has an uninteresting flavor if it even has some at all and tasted better cold? The crab puffs were plenty but were dry and had barely any filling..ugh waste of money! Can't believe I gave them a second shot! Won't be back..just head on over to yummy bowl down commercial away from here and get you some good food!

We just ate here tonight. The food is really fresh. Sometimes when you eat at other Chinese Restaurants the food seems recycled but this place its not! I had the shrimp fried rice and it was the best here in Salem. The sweet and sour chicken was really good too! If you want some Chinese food come here and the prices are not that bad.

We just had take out from this place last night. It was awesome! Great portions for a small price. My roommate got some egg flower soup to go and they gave her a huge container of it. We will definitely be going back.

Beware they won't accept coupons on your phone. Food is good and large portions. Call ahead for take out as it is a 15 to 20 minute wait

It really pains me to write this review, because I have been a fan of Gold Dragon since I was in high school and it was Eng's. It never disappointed either for eating in or takeout, however the last few times I've been there it's been way worse that it ever used to be. We don't go here often because it's pretty far out south salem, and we don't live on that side of town, but my boyfriend and I used to like their food the best, so we'd go there every once in awhile. Friday when we went there we walked in, they were semi-busy and the waitress told us to just sit wherever we wanted. Waited a bit for water and menus, but no biggie. We ordered, and I asked for tea. Not something I normally would have noticed, but the last 2 times we had been before, we also didn't get any tea. When we got it, they served us vanilla oolong -- which I like, but not with dinner. The flavor was unexpected, and not what we had wanted. After we both ordered, neither of us were served soup either. Again, not a tragedy, but this happened the last time we had come here. I did see her bring out soup to other tables, but not all. I wasn't sure why we didn't get offered soup, because we always order the same thing and have gotten it before, so it seemed odd. When we finished, the server brought the check, and we asked for boxes. We waited for a while, and she took out some orders - again, no biggie - but then we saw her take boxes and checks to two other tables while we were still waiting, without any acknowledgement. Again, the food was good - large portions and super hot. Service is just inconsistent whether it will be great or not. Since it isn't close, it's extremely disappointing to come in on an "off day".

The food is always good but one server during their busiest times is a bit unnecessary, hire one or two servers to help the customers and it would be nicer

I've been coming to this place for YEARS! They started going down hill about a year ago. The 2 lady's up front are rude as can be, roll their eyes when asked something and just last week I found a fly in my sesame chicken (which I ordered all the time when dining here) and she rolled her eyes and walked away. I thought maybe she didn't hear me so when I went up to pay my bill I told her again, thinking I'd be reimbursed or compensated for the meal and the fly which I then showed her. She said "uh uh $25.98" at which point I paid and asked when the manager would be in. She told me "I have no idea." I'm so disgusted with how I've been treated there. I know of multiple under age people who gamble and drink there because they don't ID before going into the poker room. I would have recommended his place 2 years ago, but definitely not now. It's definitely gone down hill.

My wife and I have been going here for years, since before we were married and it was still Eng's. The food is as good as it ever was, large portions and decent prices. But the service has definitely taken a nose dive lately. The last few times I went in for take out, no effort was made to make eye contact with me. Nobody ever said please or thank you, and I felt very rushed and unimportant, as if I were in the way. I thought it was a pretty rude way to treat a customer. So I guess if service isn't important to you as long as the food is good, then this place is for you.

This is our all time go to Chinese place. Food is great and the price is even better. We have never had to wait for seating or service even when going in with a big group. Only draw back if you go play the poker machines in back, it smells horrible.

Awesome for take out!! We've gotten it twice so far since we moved to the area and were impressed both times. We both get pick your own combos and also use the coupon off their website for a free item. The veggies are fresh and it's not too salty tasting :) portions are huge and we get like 3-4 meals from it. This is our go to Chinese take out place from now on!

The food was great snd big portions. I was surprised at how busy it was, but once I saw the plate of foood and starting eating I totally understood. It is definitely a good value and worth going.

Ok place for a quick lunch that is inexpensive with large servings.... Not a wow for a foodie though...

Ate here a week or so ago. It was so non-good that I didn't really want to comment. But, what the heck. Hopefully it will save someone. Worst Hot and Sour soup ever. What in the heck was that?

Average Chinese food made for American tastes, clean and bland ambiance, cheap prices, and friendly fast service (though I've only been there midweek for late lunches when it's not looking buys). Definitely a perfectly good place to come for lunch from work sometimes. The hot and sour soup is better than most places in Salem, though on the salty side. The only nit I have is that while I was there last time, the waitress was watching a TV a show about c-sections. Not exactly what you want on TV while eating! But before I started to think about complaining she'd switched to home shopping.

OK!!!.....This place looked bad.....but was really awsome....besides the 99 cent bud lights, the food was good and fresh. I was surprised at the service and quality we had. Egg flower soup was great. Crisp tempora....modern indoor decore....friendly host and a all around family owned restaurant feel. I will for sure go back again.

Slightly above average Chinese food. Not the most inviting or appealing atmosphere & decor, but it wasn't dirty or messy either. Really don't have much else to say, haha. Very much what I'd call Salem-quality or Salem-standard.

Gold Dragon isn't my first choice when it comes to Chinese food in Salem, but when it's convenient I'll go here. The food I've tried (various combinations) has always been good, but sometimes a little bland. I'll have to try some other dishes to see if they have more flavorful options. The service has just been "ok", not overly friendly or helpful, but not really bad either. As long as the food remains decent I'll keep coming back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
