Super Cheap! Pros: Great tasting tacos and tamales and the price is right. Cons: Super slow, but I can deal with that if the tacos rock. Not that clean out front, dirty tables and floor. Also as others have stated you have to ask what is in each burrito. A description would be great. Over all a great little taco shop.

Very cheap, the mexican taco's are very good and have lots of flavor. The burrito's are a little more bland, but still pretty good. A couple of times I have been here the wait was longer than I would have expected, but it was certainly worth it. The best deal in town.

Stopped in after a midday hike nearby at Smith Rock in the winter (brrr...) We loaded up on some tacos and a couple of burritos. Tacos are very inexpensive and properly loaded. The carne asada was a little dry, but the carnitas was OK. Quality of the food was a little above average and the value was definitely above average. Nice person working there, but they screwed up on my request for no cilantro. Had to wait while they remade my tacos, but at least they didn't try to just pick off the little green death bombs (bleech). Nothing special, I'd say that they were a respectable place, possibly the best in town, but there are better taquerias in Bend.

This place is great and very reasonable. I'm so glad I stopped by a couple months ago. It's a pretty spare place when you drive up and walk in, but don't let that stop you. It's well worth it. My only gripe is that the burrito menu isn't very descriptive so you'll have to ask what's in each one.

The Great Taco Shop has a small menu: tacos, burritos, tamales, and a couple breakfast items. What is outstanding is that their tacos are only a dollar apiece. They have the usual variety of tacos - I had chorizo and carnitas, and they are as good as one finds for $1.75 - 2.00 and more at other places. Tamales are just $2.00 each - they have both chicken and pork. The tamales is topped with lettuce and cheese and sour cream. Although I've had better tamales, these ones are right up there. If you don't like Mexican food, they'll be happy to Americanize your tacos for you. That would be too bad, but each to his own..... Oh, and (though I didn't' try this), they also have vegetarian tacos.

I love this place. The food is simple, fresh and tasty. You get two basic choices for your tacos -- Mexican or American. I love Mexican style cause of the fresh cilantro. And it is so cheap at $1.25 per taco. The chorizo is my personal favorite. No there is no ambience here but they are super nice people and that's what matters to me!

Great tacos and burritos. Pretty standard offerings and flavors but they've never let me down. Wonderful taste and consistency make for a great taco shop.

No plans to go back. The food is pretty good and is consistant: 4 stars. The cleanliness is not as good as the food: 3 stars Speed of service- not so good: 2 stars at best. Usually takes about 5 minutes if no one else is in line. If there is a line, then expect 5 minutes per person in line before you. I can usually plan on waiting because of the quality of food, but the friendliness is what put the damper on. The staff are not outright mean, rude or profane, but... I noticed the last 3 times I've been in that it consistently takes 5 minutes for me to get my food (which is what I thought it was from previous experience). HOWEVER, if you speak spanish as a native language... your speed of service will consistently be ONE minute! After I first noticed that, I started to time the service and I found the disparity to be accurate. I guess I'll have to stick to Taco (H)ell.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
