A great throw-back to another era. The quaint, vintage decor and friendly, hustling waitstaff made breakfast fun. Two of us came about 9 am on a Saturday and the place was packed. Great coffee. Smooth, hot and a bottomless cup. Service was very fast and portions are generous. Blueberry pancakes were made with Krusties mix but were packed with juicy blueberries. Hash browns were large shred and crisped to perfection. Omelet was stuffed and very big. Good flavor combination. Toast was cardboard so skip it.

I give this place a good rating for it's food, as much as atmoshere. Why is it that Denny's is always busy, yet the food/service are below average. People should really support the independent businesses. Especially in a small town with few options. I can't really give a well-informed review of this place, being that I always order the same thing. It's the Chicken Quesadilla. The tortilla is sprinkled with parmesan before it is grilled. It makes such a difference! Served with sourcream and salsa, it's huge and a bargain.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. The place is cute, but the place is poorly run and food (with the exception of the milkshakes) is horrible. Our BLT and grilled cheese took 1.5 hours to finally arrive at our table. The BLT was soggy and flat. The grilled cheese barely had any cheese. We had to ask the server about our food order and she apologized saying the cool was slow and just horrible at cooking. Once the BLT arrived, I asked the older woman at the register about the BLT and if she was the owner, she offered the shredded lettuce with a piece of lettuce but that would not solve the problem of the substandard sandwich. She said I needed to talk to our server about any problems and not her nor the owner. Our server was a bright spot there, she did her best with what little control she had. This place needs a complete overhaul for its food and customer service.

Horrible. Everything is poorly executed. There is potential, but they are failing to realize it. Don't waste your money here.

This place leaves a lot to be desired. Below average food and something about our experience here tells me it is poorly run. Got one of our orders wrong and the rest of the food was not very good. Not many other options in Pendleton though.

Chicken fried steak was ok, but killed by the wet flour they called gravy. Eggs were rubbery. On omelet they used sliced processed cheese. Waitress was very friendly and service was good. Asked about corned beef, told it was canned. Should have took the hint.

So it was really good. Nice staff. Good food. Coffee wasn't so hot but a couple of good places nearby for that.

Service was friendly. Food was subpar. If corners can be cut, they cut them. Pre-packaged, canned food. Veggie omelet was ok, but The "swiss" cheese was the individually wrapped kind that doesn't melt and tastes like crap. Fried eggs were severely overcooked, gravy was from a can. Sausage was reheated from frozen. Coffee creamer is the shelf stable kind. But the waitress was nice and friendly. We wish we had gone to McDonald's.

Two words: Dehydrated eggs. See R.H.'s 7/22/2011 review.

Stopped by for lunch on the way from Portland to wallawa. It was a nice dinner meal. Clean dining room & bathroom. Looked like mostly locals, a good sign in a small town. Strolled the main street after the meal for a few minutes. A nice break from the usual highway stop.

I have dined at Main Street Diner on more than one occasion and have been very happy with the food each time. I will always recommend them for great diner fare.

Do not waster your money seriously, I don't give 2's very often. Where to start. We went as a party of 4 on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was busy which is usually a good sign. There were only two waitresses working and they were swamped. I was one of the lucky ones in my party of 4, my food was actually hot, but i think that's because i custom ordered a double cheese burger so they had to make it fresh..2 of our orders came out cold they were both omelets, we had to send those back. The waitress had a hard time remembering to refill our drinks and when she brought out the refills they were the wrong drinks! The food was bland, I wish we would have stopped somewhere else...and to top it off the waitress got extremely snobby with me after i asked for a glass of water because she brought me out a Dr pepper when i ordered a coke! WOW! Really? That's okay i will NEVER go back.

A "diner" in name only. Maybe "50s / early 60s nostalgia gallery that serves food" would be a better descriptor. Emphasis on the gallery part, because the food is frankly very, very mediocre. This is someone's idea of a diner for sure, but surely they have not seen many real diners. Too bad, because the location and historic building are great. I had a breakfast burrito ordered, and I knew things were going awry when the food service truck pulled up and brought in every kind of pre-cooked/-prepared item that would be put together in menu items. The other major warning sign was that no one else in the building was eating when we were there. The burrito was very marginal, but the killer was that the "salsa" and sour cream came in individual plastic containers. The hash browns came from a box much like the ones I saw being delivered. The coffee is weak as tea (okay, maybe THAT is diner coffee).

Great little diner! We brought a big crowd (24) and got quick and friendly service. Everyone liked the food and the prices were very reasonable. I recommend the Tuscan Soup.

Diabetic exchanges were easy with no added cost. Bacon is lacking but sausage omelet was great! Good for breakfast in a town that needs more options!

What a great diner. Friend pulled me off highway and knew about this place and we disregarded the negative reviews. Wonderful friendly service and a caramel milk shake to die for. I would have given 5 stars but I was not crazy about the grilled onions - I love grilled onions but these were different - but otherwise the burger was excellent. Fries were good and onions rings were particularly good. Price acceptable.

After seeing some 5-star reviews on another site (why did I leave you Yelp?) we decided to give Main Street a try. They make an effort to be a 50's Diner, but it misses the mark. My turkey bacon sandwich was less than ok. Very cheap turkey - you know the stuff that shines too much and tastes greasy, and the bacon wasn't much better. Service just OK. Restrooms get -5 stars, what a mess. Avoid this one and stop across the street at Sisters Cafe instead.

I've visited this place 3 times. The first out of curiosity (the 50's motif is welcoming). I was neither impressed by the food nor the service in that visit. I figured it might have been an off-day, so I visited again a few months later. Once again, the food was sub-par, and the service was lacking. My mind was pretty much made up, but I visited a third time when my gf and I were going to visit another restaurant (can't remember which), that happened to be closed that day. This was nearby so I figured I'd give it one final shot... and unfortunately yet another strike. Our waitress made us feel hurried, then vanished for some time, until delivering our food to the table; a burned sandwich and VERY stale fries. My water glass never was refilled (not the hugest disappointment, as it tasted off anyway). C.H.'s review is absolutely correct about "voted #1 diner".. I guess Denny's must've forgot to enter the election, cuz even they have a leg up on this establishment, lol. It's is only open 4 hours a day or so (during lunch "rush"... a misnomer as this place is NEVER busy). I generally enjoy kitch-ey joints, but this one misses the mark on every level. I'm not sure how they keep afloat, but it certainly won't be from any thing out of my pocket.

I had the breakfast burrito. NOT GOOD! They brought salsa in a plastic cup and it had no heat or spice to it all. Hashbrowns tasted like they came out of a box. This place doesn't even rank mediocre. The booth looked so worn like it was the original booth from the 1960's. the rest of the decor leaves a lot to be desired too. Too bad because considering the location and the name, if the cooking and quality of the food was good this place could be a little money maker.

We were searching for something on our way back to W. WA in Pendleton and of course I yelped for something great and came across Main Street Diner. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high, but I honestly doubt it. We ordered the chicken basket (which was the special of the day at exactly the same price it is offered on the menu), parmesan tacos, and a club sandwich. The chicken was try, their fries were overcooked, the tacos were by far the weirdest thing I've ever experienced in this type of establishment, and my safety net club was layered with kraft singles.... Oh and my salad dressing was so glutenous that I could have used it to glue a birdhouse together....

We always stop for gas in Pendleton on our way to & from Nampa. Usually we've stopped at Roosters (another good place to eat!) but they aren't open until 8am so of course we Yelp'd and tried Main St Diner for a change. This place is VERY clean (restrooms especially), service was superb and the food was better than average. We consumed (literally) a corned beef hash plate, German sausage with eggs & the kid had eggs, bacon & pancakes. All good although I thought the cakes were a bit dense : ) Overall I'd recommend this place as a very good alternate to the chains you find right off the freeway! Oh, there is also some fun wall trivia you can play while waiting fir your meal : ) Enjoy!

Good basic diner food. Much better fare than Denny's or IHOP. Worth the detour into downtown Pendleton.
