Really like this place a lot. The interior is awesome...lighting is unique and gives off a great vibe, different areas for seating that suit the space well. The foods as delicious...portions are generous too. Service was friendly and prompt. I ordered the pulled pork, which I'm usually hesitant to do because nothing has ever compared to mine. However, these came pretty darn close which was pleasantly surprising. It is a sauce base, not vinegar, which I like better and the meat was good quality, shredded well. The sandwich could have used a condiment like mayo, or something as an option, or just add a little more extra sauce to keep it juicy while eating. Fries were tasty too. My husband and his dad both ordered specialty sandwiches, which they loved, and my mother in law ordered the fish and chips which she was happy with. Beer selection was good...we'll go back again when we're in the area!

I'm not speaking to the food, but the beer is phenomenal. The farmhouse ipa in particular is really exceptional. The space is also really well converted, beautiful, and thoughtfully designed. The service is attentive, the server knew the beer, and substituted ciders in our flight when we didn't live two of the styles they offered.

Had to clean off our own table, ask for a rag to wipe it off.. Walked behind the wall to grab a booster seat for my 2 year old son... Waited 30 minutes to place an order.. Waited another 45 before the food even came. I will not be back!!! Advise everyone else to save their money. Stay away!

Nice atmosphere, decent beer and just "ok" food. Service was a bit slow too. I've eaten here a couple of times and each time the food was so-so. They do have an outdoor seating area that is dog friendly, which is nice.

Good beer and great atmosphere.... the weather was nice so they had yard games setup which was fun. The food was okay, I think it's a little overpriced. My daughter had the Mac and cheese and we were surprise at how whimpy the portion was. I had the fish & chips and they were good ....There was a band so that was fun. I'd go back just for the atmosphere and the Beer.

Stopped here for dinner on a warm Friday evening. The food was good. You have to try a pretzel... my wife, who normally doesn't much like either bread or salty foods, was the first to suggest ordering an extra to-go to be warmed later as a late night snack. The Reuben was good too; not Rose's good by any means of course, but better than most. The beer was better. The Nut Red is interesting, and their stout is full bodied without being overpowering. As for the service... some reviews say it's bad (you want bad service at a brewpub, try almost any Mcmenamins). Ours was so good I felt compelled to write this review. Like I said, we arrived at the peak dinner rush on a Friday evening. There were only one or two tables open when we got there; it was very busy. Nonetheless we were seated quickly, got our beer and our appetizer, and were happy. Then the kitchen apparently lost our dinner order. So, it took a while. I wasn't really all that upset. The appetizer had taken the edge off, and we were relaxing over our beers. Still, our waitress, Ally, was very apologetic. Without my asking, they ended up comping us both our appetizer and our beer for our patience. How many places have you been in that will do that just to make up for being slow? There aren't many, and when you find one, it's the sort of place you want to go back. Food, beer, service: all highly recommended.

Yummy fresh ingredient food. Kid friendly and our waitress was awesome. Would definitely come back next time we are in McMinnville

Food is ok. Service is ok. Prices little high for this type of business. Bands too loud. Crowd too loud, seems like a party place, there were lots of obnoxious people this evening. All they have is micro brew, need more choices. If they would quiet the music and crowd, this would be a nice relaxing place. There are small booths outside that are nice also, (Not part of brew works), it's quieter outside.

We stopped here Sept. 4th to try out their beer. We had the hounds with us which wasn't a problem since they have outdoor seating and are dog friendly. The outdoor seating area is pleasant. The interior of the brewery itself is really nice,... a real rustic beer hall vibe to it. Our server, who was also the bartender at the time, was very friendly and prompt, which is really outstanding on her part, since she was waiting on tables outside and inside as well. We ordered a flight, so we could try all their beers, the pretzel, and calamari. We both liked all the beers we tried, but the Nut Red was both our favorite of all. The pretzels were very tasty and perfectly baked and came with a cheese sauce and a whole grain mustard. The calamari was perfect, it was well seasoned and needed no dipping sauce of any type, even though it came with aioli. Great little spot for a brew and a snack!

This is a welcome addition to Mac's restaurant repertoire. The building is situated in the Granary District and has a rustic look and feel to it. I came here with a small group and the service left something to be desired- hopefully they can tighten things up in terms of payments as they establish themselves. Our server took our orders, asking beforehand if there'd be separate checks (yes) and I watched as she separated the orders based on people/couples. So it was perplexing when she later returned with our bill (one big bill), sighed in irritation and said she would have to go back and separate the checks, leaving us to mark down who got what and on which card. Um...okay? Guess she forgot. Even though that was a minor suck, we all seemed to enjoy our meals and my $13 fish and chips meal was quite good- flavorful beer battering and a tasty dipping sauce. I will definitely return and hope they figure out the small kinks.

Service so slow I felt ignored. 20 minutes to get someone to my table as I flagged down wait staff. Then a burger took 45inutes. Too much to pay when good alternatives are close by.

Food has always been good the 4 times I've been here. Ask for a refill of coke, so did my brother. Never got it. Both of our drinks were empty for a good 15 minutes until paid and left. The blonde is hot. Should of got her number. Doh!!! Ask for side of ranch. Came in like a shot glass. Lame.

We've always enjoyed the grain station in the past but had a negative experience recently. Waited 15 minutes without acknowledgment by wait staff. Noticed that there were others in the same predicament. Ended up just walking out.

A true gem. I can honestly say I love this place. The people are fun and friendly. The food is delicious and follows with traditional pub fare. Most importantly though: the beer is awesome. This is definitely a place to go for Happy Hour, dinner with your friends, parents, kids, or on a hot date. Food tip: anything on the menu is good but if you like beer and cheese, try the fried Brie appetizer. Yum.

This place is nice. I like the outdoor seating. I also liked that my dog could hang out with me while I drank a beer. The Fish Taco's were delicious. The beer was good too.

  • Dana M.

Yes the beer is good. Sure the ambiance is fun and comfortable. The food, on the other hand, left quite a bit to be desired. The pizza was on a whole grain cracker-like crust (which I didn't like) that wasn't mentioned on the menu. The '8" calzone conversion' was not an 8" pizza folded in half, but a 16" - it was huge. Any chicken on any dish was very dry. The fries were good. The pretzel was good but not extraordinary, served in the requisite mason jar. Very hip.

This is the second time that we have been here. Both times our waitress has been great. She is very friendly and professional. We have had the same waitress both times. The first time I had a Reuben, which tasted really good, but the bottom piece of bread was really soggy. We decided to try again. This second time around we both decided that we really like the atmosphere. The waitress recommended the Garlic bread, which was phenomenal. This time we brought our son, and our waitress brought him some goldfish crackers, which we really appreciated. We both ordered burgers, which were both really tasty. The fries were good. Our waitress recommended the nut red beer, which was great. Our son loved his chicken strips. The only drawback was that once again our bread was soggy.

This is a place where customer service is the priority. The food is very good and the beer. ..oh the beer...best in town and that is saying a lot given the number of breweries in the region. I am a permanent customer.

Been here three times. Great beer. Awesome atmosphere. Really cool building. The pizza is good. Wings suck. They were dry as shit. Had the steak salad which was 12 bucks and was pretty bad. Meat was tough even when cooked medium rare. Service is ok. When I got my ranch for wings they gave me a thimble full so I had to ask for more. Whatever. The guy with the shaved head looks like he's really depressed. Overall work on the service and upgrade some of the entrees.

Taster tray of 6 beers, all really, really good. 1 that I didn't care for was the O'fest,, but that was a guest tap. Great curry chicken sandwich and mac n cheese was creamy and delicious.

This place is wonderful. I went here for the first time with my parents over the weekend and we had a great time. I absolutely LOVED the atmosphere.. made me feel a little country which is always nice. The beer was excellent and the food was great! I had a chicken bacon avocado sandwich with fries and I wouldn't hesitate ordering it again! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because our server did forget about us and it took over an hour to get our food. He was extremely apologetic and did take care of things. We are all human.. mistakes happen! We were happy drinking our beers and in no hurry at all so it all worked out good!! I will definitely be going back!!!

We came here for dinner on the recommendation of a local couple we met at a wine tasting. We were looking for a place with great fish and chips and they told us the Grain Station uses fresh fish, not frozen. Glad we listened as we had a great meal! I particularly liked the aioli that came with the calamari appetizer. Ambience is fun and lively. Will definitely re-visit the next time we're down visiting Linfield College.

We have returned many times, and I have to say, the food and service has improved a lot. The burger is decent and we have liked other menu items as well. I have yet to try the pizza, but will do so soon. Good beer, and some great bartenders. As far as atmosphere, if the lights were dimmed a bit it would make a more pleasing environment. All in all, this is turning out to be a great little brewpub!

read all the reviews. Have to say I guess everyone does have a different opinion. Please don't let the negative reviews make your choice FOR you. We went anyway & OMG am so glad we did. Had a very nice & attentive waitress. The owner introduced himself & inquired about our food. My husband had fish & chips. He loved them. I had the Maple bacon cheeseburger. Was skeptical but tried it anyway. Good gracious! That was the best cheeseburger I have EVER had! Who would have thought maple on a cheeseburger. Bacon was thick strips which hung off the sides. Didn't bother eating my fries didn't want to waste stomach room! Husband also had 2 samples of their ale which he finally did have one. Can't comment there I'm not a drinker but he did enjoy it. We will be returning because fast food burgers have nothing on these burgers!

I was doing some work in the Lafayette area and had time to duck away for a quick pint. I remembered there was a new brewery in McMinnville, so I searched for this place. I parked right next to the entrance, which was a bit confusing as I walked around the entire barnlike structure to finally discover the entrance to the brewery. There seem to be other businesses inside: A dogwash, A coffee roaster....? Anyhow, the space was nice. Large, barn-like, high ceilings, a chili cabin feel. Most of the tables were occupied by retirees and there were a couple of middle class nerds at a large table. I was greeted pretty promptly, took awhile for them to ask my drink order, but the wait was no trouble. I ordered their Bet the Farm IPA----a very quenching, juicy, well-balanced IPA. The owner came up to me and introduced himself, nice touch. He allowed me to use their outlet behind their bar for my work computer. Very hospitable. The offer of food was made, I considered ordering a soup of the day, Chowder, but I ran low on time. Their pizzas looked really good. People seemed happy there. Would like to come back for a lunch. Also, had a view of the brewery and large HD TV to look at. Kid Friendly. It was cold inside, though.

Great LARGE 1/3 pound burgers! Good service, neat decor....sadly I did not like the brew... Coke Products.

Had a good experience. Had a grain station stout burger. Fries were excellent. The burger was a little tall for eating but it was tasty. Service was quite attentive. Good stop

Nicely done old barn, very good food and of course the beer was great. Will definitely stop in again next time we are passing through M-Ville.

The space and location are great, but.........the beer is just ok, and our appetizers were pretty marginal to the point where the server took off the hummus and pita bread, when I suggested the chef take a look at the veggies that they seved on the plate. The wings were tough but the hot sauce was good, typical of frozen precooked wings. Pita and hummus is one to stay away from as the hummus was lumpy and flavorless, as if they just mashed up some canned beans, the pita bread was stale., the veggies likely cut over a week ago and left in the cooler with the spoiled cherry tomatoes. The olives were great, but awkward to dip in hummus. I really want to like this place but they are not giving me much to work with.

Driving through town and we were hungry, found this brewery and we were definitely impressed. The drinks were great and the food was amazing. There was live music. The staff was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I would definitely come back if im in town.

Love this place for some beers and pub grub! My friends told us about this little hidden jem off the main drag in Mac..I used to come here when they held the farmer's market here a few years ago... It's an old, cool wooden building, think maybe an old grain barn or something... hell I was never a farmer...not sure what to call it! Lots of space and tables and they have these huge roll up doors to let the air in. It was the prefect end to a sunny day when we arrived. You must try the homemade pretzel with cheese sauce... the best I've ever had. Doughy and salty, hello! I also had the fish and chips that was very good to, not to greasy. These folks get all their fish from Blaine, the local seafood guy, so I knew it was good quality. My sweetie had the burger with jalapenos...spicy! You can add jalapenos, avocado and a few other things. The meat was fresh and not greasy either. I also saw some other patrons noshing on pizza that looked really really good, I think next time we will try one of those! As for beers... a great selection on tap and the prices are on the low end. They have a HH also that looks damn good. I can see myself hanging out here on the patio a lot this summer! Glad to see this addition in our wine country :)

Great new pub! Had a fun Saturday night listening to a band (great acoustics in the place!) and watching the two Oregon football games at this new brewery. Gotta love that they have two big tv screens behind the bar so that both Ducks and Beavers can be happy! I had a pulled pork sandwich and the husband had bangers and mash with our drinks, good stuff. They serve burgers, mac and cheese, pizza, a bit more, I forget what. Fun watching the chefs flip the pizza dough back in the kitchen. Service was good, I really liked the servers - genuine and nice, fun staff. They were kicking up their heels to the music a bit toward the end of the evening, gotta love it!

This place was delicious! Everything that we ordered was perfect, right down to the kids pizza! The fish tacos are the best I've ever had. Beer was yummy. Best of all, our waiter was extremely nice and very attentive. I would love to go to this place again!

This is a great local brewery. They are new to the neighborhood. They brew their own beer and sprits in house and you can see their brewing tanks through a window in the dinning. It is in a vaulted ceiling barn and has a certain rustic charm. The servers are very knowledgable about their house beers and are delighted to help you choose one that fits your taste, that is if you can even get the servers to pay attention to you. My first time I went here, you go in and seat yourself. It was about 15 mins before we were even acknowledged. Then finally after we got our menus it took them ages to get back to us to take our order, they always looked buys walking around. They were over staffed but never the less we still were neglected. Once the food arrived it was almost worth the wait. Great burgers. In my opinion, best burgers in town. But it could use a little more timely service on the servers end.

Good beer, service, food and live music after 8pm on Saturday. The food is fresh and unique. The beer has a spicy Belgium slant.

Over rated and horrible food. Such a letdown. The atmosphere is amazing, it's a great concept. But I've tried it three times, the fish tacos, Ruben and bangers and mash. All three I could not finish. The bangers and mash were bitter and rancid. This place has potential but get a better menu or better cooks. Clearly you have to be drinking, to enjoy the food.

Accompanied some coworkers to try this place out as we like to try new things for lunch. Wow...wish we had not. First, there were 7 of us and we sat towards the back away from the bar. 4 at one table and 3 right next to that table. The place itself is pretty cool looking. Definitely the rustic farm/brew house look. Tvs all around, 1 was on at the bar. Did some research online before and decided on a burger. Burger, plus bacon, plus grilled onions, medium, minus pickles. Other coworkers ordered chicken salad, another burger, chicken bacon sandwich...and another, soup and salad and a calzone. Great...order placed at 12...and then the wait... Table with 4 gets their food in about 30 minutes. Damn...was steady but not busy. Another 5 minutes...um, our food? 10 minutes...20 minutes...30 minutes...the table is now done and we have no food. Our Portland transient hipster keeps walking by...no eye contact...no "I'm sorry it's taking a bit, I'll keep checking on it"...nothing... 45 minutes later, good arrives. Was about 2 minutes from leaving. Coworkers leave cause they have been done for about 15 minutes. My burger is well done and has pickles...whatever...I'm starting to get that feeling I was literally dying of hunger. The food itself was above average. The burger is quite sizable (1/2 pound) but had a texture if meatloaf and was overcooked. The buns top half is great...toasted...the bottom is almost paper thin after everything is on the burger and falls apart after a few bites. All others were satisfied but nothing wow. Get our checks an hour and 30 after stepping in to the place. Again there was an opportunity to thank us for our patience and salvage this experience...our first. Nope...attitude was like HE was getting the bad service. He was lucky it was payday and I left him a tip. This place needs to look at their service...is there a manager there that can look at this place during the day? I'll try it again because I don't give a place one time...but unless the service changes...this place will be history...

I wouldn't rush back to eat here, but the fries are fresh cut, they give samples of the brew and our waiter was really good. The food was standard pub fare. Great looking on the inside, as you can imagine it's rustic. I'd say give it a try.

Here's the thing. The atmosphere - AMAZING. The food - YUMMY. The beer - GREAT. The service - Meh. The Grain Station is a classic example of having a few poor servers ruin the entire experience. This was my second visit and it was the same as the first - good food and beer, bad service. Both my husband and I ordered a sandwich. He got a pickle and peperoncini with his, I got none of those things. We had no silverware and no dressing to go with our salad. We had to point both out to the waitress, and then we got the dressing first, followed by her having to go get the silverware. The restaurant was not busy, but she was too busy to ever check on us. Too bad. I really want to like this place....

  • Vic K.

We had extravagant service. The food was great and the French fries were in my opinion the best in mac. The service we had was above and beyond the call of good advice. Thank you, Kim. We love the atmosphere its rustic and feels homey at the same time. We definitely will be back.

It pains me so much to have to give this place only 2 stars. The ambiance is super cool. The wait staff was super nice. The beer was pretty good and the food was pretty much what you'd expect in a pub, which was fine... But for the love of goats! The WAIT! The WAIT! It wasn't packed. We sat down immediately, two small kids in tow, ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees within 3 minutes and waited... and waited... and freakin waited for 45 minutes until I finally begged the waitress to bring us some crusts of bread, cracker crumbs, ANYTHING for my kids slumped over the table, listless, ready to meltdown at any moment. To the waitress's credit, she did bring out a couple of packets of Goldfish from their secret stash, which held them over for the next 10 minutes. Finally after an hour-long wait we got our appetizers and burgers at the same time. So it's a cool place to visit, but don't think I'd dare step foot in here with kids again and wait an hour for mediocre food.

Another visit to the Grain Station. I must admit up front that it was not my destination when I set out for lunch. I originally intended to take my wife to the Soup Shack which is located in the Grain Station's parking lot, but it is closed on Mondays. That turned out to be a fortunate disappointment. This visit was one of those memorable moments, without getting overly maudlin, that happen occasionally. The lunch crowd had not yet arrived, so it was seat yourself. Now, if the GS has one problem, it is the noise level, but since we were a little early, it was quite comfortable. The music that they were playing (The Old Crow Medicine Show, supplied by Pandora) was relaxing and enjoyable. Jocelyn, our server was very friendly and helpful and actually seemed to be happy talking to us. We ordered the chicken, bacon, avocado sandwich on sourdough w/fries (Linda's choice) and I had the Reuben on marbled rye with a cup, which turned out to be a bowl, of beer/cheese soup. I paired my sandwich, that sounds fairly elitist, with a BetTheFarm IPA - an excellent choice, I must say. I assume the chicken, bacon, avocado sandwich was good, because it was heartily consumed, as were most of the fries. But this is not an assumption: the Reuben is by far the very best I have ever had. I would give them an extra star on it alone. So how was my second visit? Great! Great atmosphere, great music, great company, great service and great food. I would say that the Grain Station is a must stop if you are in the McMinnville area.

Awesome atmosphere and enjoyed the craft beers!! Pizza and wings were very good and the friendly service was top notch. Especially liked the location surrounded by grain elevators etc. Don't miss this experience.

We came here after tasting some of their beer in a nearby bookstore. The beer is very good, and worth a visit by itself. I will probably venture back here just to sample more beer. My wife ordered the pulled pork, which I tried and we both agreed it was good. Not award-winning BBQ-joint good, but good. I ordered "the burger", which was ok. I asked for the dressing on the side because I just like a small amount, but the burger came with the dressing on the burger. I also asked for medium-rare. I decided to send the burger back because of the dressing. It was returned to me just about 60 seconds later with a new bun and the dressing just scraped off. It was still too much dressing to me and the burger was cooked well done (not medium rare). Other than the imperfect burger this is a good place to stop. We'll give it another try the next time we're in town, but when a burger is sent back for this it really should be remade.

The happy hour menu items were great. The beer was really good, and our service was excellent. We didn't try any entrees, so don't consider this a full review. With a huge TV and community style picnic table seating, it's a perfect place to watch the game.

We had a good meal at Grain Station on our way to Lincoln City. Fresh hopped ale (Golden Paddle?) was tasty enough to order 2. May kids had the burgers, I had the Reuben, and I cannot for the life of me remember what my wife had. Maybe it was the two beers... I have a few complaints, none of which would keep me from going back. First, the wait was fairly long for a Thursday night. It seems like they could fit some more tables in the space, but obviously that may be out of their control. We did get our beers at the bar with no wait and settled into some chairs. The hostess did keep us up to date on the wait time and also brought us menus to look. The other small issue is that the pastrami in the Reuben seemed a lot like corned beef to me. And it was cut with the grain instead of across, which made it really chewy. That smokey flavor was missing, but besides that and the chew, the sandwich was good. Lastly, two small mistakes that the server made actually worked in my favor. I ordered a side salad with the sandwich and got fries instead. She corrected the mistake and gave me a fairly large side salad. And the fries were good! Also, I ordered a glass (menu language) instead of an imperial pint as a second beer and she brought me a pint. She only charged me for the glass and I drank more than I should have. Definitely a good spot to stop if you're headed south and want to linger in McVille instead of speeding by on rt 18

The rustic, earthy accolades make you feel comfortable. A relaxing atmosphere inside extends outdoors to a fire pit...making okay beer enjoyable. Food is just so-so. We have eaten here 5 times mainly to see if things would improve...and they haven't. Pizza dough is bland, fries have been returned on three trips due to being cold, fish tacos lack a Mexican flare and the pulled pork sandwich lacks an oink. Menu is void of originality...cough cough Golden cough cough Valley Brew cough cough Pub. Service and timeliness needs much improvement. It would benefit from a training class. Lastly, on one of our early outings my son found a watch and gave it to our waitress. A few days later on the GS Facebook page a picture of the wait staff was posted...and what did I see the waitress wearing the watch.

Impressive place with a charming rustic feel in the Granary District. Very open and airy place with a lot of character. The menu is a robust one and features gluten-free items and organic product that is locally grown. The commitment to local product runs right down to their ketchup! For tonight's selection, I decided on beer cheese soup, maple bacon burger with fresh cut fries, and a nice garden salad. The soup, to begin with, was nothing less than spectacular - cheesy, creamy, and the boldness of the beer. Wish I could take a cauldron of it home with me!! The maple bacon burger was very good! The sweetness of maple syrup sauce added depth to the fresh local Tillamook cheddar cheese and the beef! Add a bit of the organic ketchup - which was phenomenally good in its own right - to get the full flavour experience! My only issue with the burger was that it was a tad overdone for my tastes. The salad was perfect, though. Mixed local greens with crouton crumbles and freshly harvested and chopped hazelnuts! WOW! Those hazelnuts were the best tasting hazelnuts I have ever had! The ranch dressing tasted freshly made as well! Then, just when I thought I would stop... I had to go for it. I got the brownie! More of those hazelnuts over a warm fresh mountain of brownie, vanilla ice cream in the middle, and chocolate drizzled over top. Simply to die for! I just couldn't finish it! All in all, the food was wonderful. So why didn't I give a full five stars? For one, service was slow. Not bad enough to deter me, but noticeable. Secondly, as I pointed out before, the burger was a bit too overdone. Lastly, flies are an annoyance here with people constantly coming in and out. If they can get those three things hammered out, they will have it perfect!

Service was slow - they kind of just ignored us a lot. Took a *long* time to simply get menus then long again to get water, another long gap for some one to take our order. When they did interact they were pretty blaśe. Outside of that mediocre service the food and beer was pretty good, and the ambiance was definitely fun. Maybe we just hit them at one of those times when they're just not firing on all cylinders.

This was my second visit here. First visit was average based on the beer we had. Food was good overall as was the service. Today was great. The beer was much better today whether that was due to better brew choices on my part or them actually brewing a better beer, I'm not sure. Food was on point. Kids menu didn't disappoint and we all left fairly happy. Ordered dessert but it took over 30 mi for a brownie with ice cream to come out so we had to cancel it with screaming kiddos wanting to leave. This is the only reason I docked a start. Give them a try if you live here or are visiting.

This place has a fantastic hometown feel to it. We went on a Saturday night after a recommendation from a local. Sky Bound Blue was playing and they are were so good that I joined their mailing list and bought a CD and a tshirt. I ordered the chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich while my husband ordered the fish tacos. The sandwich was fantastic and the tacos were grilled nicely. The cider was great too. We loved this place. They treated us like locals and we ended up staying until close. The outside seating is great for a warm evening and expect kids, families, dogs and everything in between to hang with you. Love this place and can't wait to come again!

Great beer, great service, awesome atmosphere! Only thing I can say is they ought to make more of their ingredients in house. The food is very good, mind you, and creative. But the ingredients seem middle of the road. I absolutely recommend this place. I'll be back for some pizza next time, it looked good.

Rustic bar and restaurant, lost of space. good for kids and groups. It could be much more that what it is, the service was ok, and the pizza was ok. Nothing that makes me think of going back, but nothing really traumatic to keep me away either. I may go back and try something else on the menu.

Like a lot of people, I've waited years for McMinnville to add another brewery option beyond Golden Valley. The Grain Station was well worth the wait. I am not going to compare the two breweries. They are very different operations in my opinion. The Grain Station does a great job at rustic, and you will notice that right away inside. All of their beers are outstanding, and their food. That they have live music occasionally is an added bonus. My only beef is the service. I was warned about it before, that you practically have to trip the waitresses to get your bill. Unfortunately, that is true in my several visits. Maybe they will read this and understand. Maybe not. Overall though, for setting, beer and food, this brewery is way above average.

So this pub took over the McMinnville Saturday Market location which was one of my favorite weekend stops. I was skeptical they could convert this urban "barn" into a functioning pub. I was wrong. The chicken coop and soup shack share the parking lot. There is plenty of outdoor seating and the Grain Station has an open air set up during good weather. There are big Screen TV's, nice wood tables. In fact I heard a lot of the renovations of the building were done by removing pieces of a barn and then "repurposing" them. There is a meat market and a seafood market in the back. There is also a small independent coffee roaster called Mud River in the side room. The best part is, you can grab a coffee, or soup, or chicken from the other vendors and bring it inside the building, so long as you order a drink or food from their menu. And this is the best part- they are new so their menu is ever changing. Hey now have burgers, pulled pork, pizzas, and my favorite tempura battered fish and chips using fresh local cod brought in by the NW seafood fish market in the back. They also have fresh cut fries which I have a soft spot for. The food I would give 4 stars, the setting, decor, and interior comforts get a strong 5 star rating. I don't drink but it appears they have a great selection of beer. This place has a little bit of everything and I think may already be the best spot to go and catch a game with a group, and also has the best fish and chips in town already. This place gets a solid MATTY LIKEY.

We eat here quite a lot (3 or 4 times a week) the staff are always friendly and efficient and the food is very good........BUT THE BEER CAN VARY QUITE ABIT......from great to rubbish....from clear to cloudy......when the brewer is on it the beer is excellent but when he's not well it leaves a lot to be desired.....

First off, I want to say they have been very receptive to suggestions from myself and other customers and are doing everything the can to improve. Their fries are delicious and the pulled pork sandwich is wonderfully tender and flavorful. I definitely recommend it. The Hefeweizen is excellent and a nice easy drinker with reasonable body to it. They have also added a few guest taps which is nice. Few negatives: The veggie pizza is overpriced IMO and just not very filling. The flavors are good but not enough pizza to justify the price. The burger has been currently pulled from the menu which is good because it needed some tweaking and needed more topping options. They plan to re-introduce it in the future. Glad to see they are identifying the problems and seeking to make changes and improvements.

We've stopped in quite a few times while doing various wine tasting adventures around Mac. I really, really want to love this place. That said, it has some obstacles to overcome. The service hasn't been the most stellar. Wrong orders, slow response time, honest mistakes though. Nothing nefarious. I truly think this place is going through some serious growing pains. They have the potential to be so much more, just failing on the delivery. Alright, locker room pep talk over, highlights: Flat bread pizza, outstanding beer, awesome ambience, cheap growlers. Lowlights: See the above locker room pep talk. I'll keep coming, but with less enthusiasm and lower expectations..

I give this place 4 stars for it's great beer and unbelievably amazing fish and chips - actually, just the fish, the fries were are than spectacular. The atmosphere is good and the staff seem friendly, but I have to avoid looking around too much when I am there. I'm not a fan of the crappy construction in the pub - it does not pass for raw or rustic. It looks like it was built-out by chimps with hammers and hand saws but no level, and they got drunk on the beer before they finished so everything is half-done.

Tonight was our first and only time here. The server gave great service to the table next to us. She kept bringing them drinks, sauces, whatever they wanted and things they didn't ask for. Us? Nothing. She never offered us drinks. Didn't even bring ketchup with the burger when I asked for it. When she came to clear our plates, she asked how it was...I pointed at my pile of cold fries and half burger and said that it would have been better if her or the other server had brought the ketchup I requested. With such great competition in Mac, I don't know why anyone would go here.

Pulled pork was not exciting. Very limited menu with almost no gluten-free or dairy-free options. I know that is hard to come by in a brewery, so that isn't the reason for the low stars. My waitress pretty much told me there was nothing for me to eat on the menu until I questioned her about several items. Then after checking with the cook she realized I could eat more than just a salad. Kinda lame. Know your menu! COLD in there!! LOUD in there! Just not what I would go back for.

When Grain Station opened everyone i knew was excited and had high hops(!). the building is gorgeous, the space was dynamic, and the atmosphere festive. watching mark up on a ladder brewing while seeing the timbers or blazers winning was an exciting prospect. In reality Grain Station falls extremely flat. THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE. the last meal i had, when after a long hiatus i decided to give it another chance, was the WORST burger i have ever had in my life. it literally tasted like nothing, which i do not understand when you have juicy beef and caramelized onions, i was honestly surprised, and unsure of how to prepare a burger so that it was devoid of flavor. The service is great, i enjoy everyone that i know and have experienced working there. it just seems hard to really be proud of your work when you are backed up by a kitchen serving that 'food'. honestly we live in one of the richest food areas in the United States. some of the best meats, vegetables, and fruits are available year round in yamhill county, but grain station has completely failed to tap into this 'novel' idea of buying and serving local, read real/flavorful, food. my burger had lettuce on it, and this was in winter. All the beer i have had here has been great. Mark is a great brewer. if you want a place to sit and watch a game and have a beer go to grain station. but please, do not order food.

Excellent craft beers made on site. Great space: an open feeling barn/warehouse type building in the Granary District. The food is really good, and improving all the time. They are very open to and seek out constructive critique... The chef came to our table to find out how we liked our meal and then asked us to sample and rate a dessert he was thinking of adding to the menu...where else does THAT happen? Try this place...it's a hidden gem at 8th and Alpine.

Yum.

Very hip.

The happy hour menu items were great. The beer was really good, and our service was excellent. We didn't try any entrees, so don't consider this a full review. With a huge TV and community style picnic table seating, it's a perfect place to watch the game.

Nice atmosphere, decent beer and just "ok" food. Service was a bit slow too. I've eaten here a couple of times and each time the food was so-so. They do have an outdoor seating area that is dog friendly, which is nice.

Lame.

I like to stop here for a nice fresh beer Once in a while. They have good food for what would be a brewpub style, I have had the pizza the wings and fish and chips and none have disappointed. I like to stop in during happy hour and grab a slice of pizza and one of their good Hefs on tap

Good beer and great atmosphere.... the weather was nice so they had yard games setup which was fun. The food was okay, I think it's a little overpriced. I'd go back just for the atmosphere and the Beer.

Yum.

Very hip.

I like to stop here for a nice fresh beer Once in a while. They have good food for what would be a brewpub style, I have had the pizza the wings and fish and chips and none have disappointed. I like to stop in during happy hour and grab a slice of pizza and one of their good Hefs on tap

  • Zahuindanda D.
