    Awesome Korean ribs.

Ordered chicken pad thai and beef yakisoba. Pad thai was cold and clumped into a ball. Yakisoba was way too salty and tasted as if the grill hadn't been cleaned in days. You could taste the grease from the grill. I literally lost my appetite and felt sick to my stomach. Very disappointed.

I love coming here! It's always a very pleasant experience. The staff is very friendly. The food is very fresh, full of flavor and so delicious! When you eat here they serve it in very cool plates. They have soy sauce and sriracha sauce available there. During lunch they offer complimentary tea and soup. Highly recommended!

Insert generic "Asian" restaurant here. I end up here once a week on a lunch run for my boss. Prices are a bit high for fast-food and a limited menu. If I get my own food, I get the red curry. It's not bad. Not spicy, not overly flavorful, just not bad. The other regular is pad thai. The noodles are not cooked fresh, so they are a gelatinous mass. If you are there after lunch hour, talk to the cute long-haired guy.... especially if you golf. He is a great source of info about local courses. And some eye candy.

I think they exist just for me. How else can you explain that their menu has all my favorite food? Where else can you find Korean BBQ, Thai noodles, Thai curry, Japanese curry, and Asian fusion salads all on one menu? You might not find 100% authenticity here but their food is tasty, plentiful, and inexpensive.

Nothing special but not bad either. I crave good korean kalbi (short ribs). Haven't found any good places in Portland. This place is ok. Not bad but not great.

Best Duck Sauce ever! Great atmosphere and love the complimentary Miso Soup and Hot Tea. The Fire Chicken and the Nice Fried Rice were both delicious. I can't wait to come back and try different dishes.

This place is delicious!! Best Asian food I've had in years!! The chicken is organic and so yummy! Not a small portion either for a decent price! They also have organic beer and wine! :). Oh and also complimentary tea and soup while you're waiting for your order. Yum yum! Highly recommend!!

I tried out Nice Rice and thought it was meh........ I totally agree with Rachael W.'s statement: "Insert generic [Asian] restaurant here" =X I came here one evening for dinner with the family, I wasn't impressed that the people who ordered after me and my family got their food served first! (FAIL) I also didn't like the fact that it was a bit over-priced for the items you got. It was too "frou frou" and I felt I could've gotten a better deal elsewhere, where food was more authentic!!! So overall, I don't think it's worth coming here.... and why?! - Pricey - I should've just stayed home and make "Asian Fusion" food myself for cheap! - Flavor is a hit or miss - Service was a bit slow - I don't think this was "authentic" but maybe better than fast food chains in the area PDX 30 Day Yelp Challenge #26 of 30

The food is tasty, but the service can be moody at times. Moderately quick and reasonably priced.

Every so often I hit a place that everyone else loves and I end up going "huh?" They were a little busy, but our order was taken quickly and efficiently. It's a cute place, if rather spartan. Our order came out to us on the front patio, though not the right order. Apologetic, the service person hauled off and a few minutes later, the new attempt was brought out. Tofu and brown rice. I doll it up with the dollar more extra veggies. The tofu was out of a package and if anything was done to "prepare" it beyond opening the package, it was pretty doggone subtle. Julienned carrots. Steamed broccoli, which tasted like some fish sauce had been near it. And my brown rice. This is not cuisine; these are ingredients in search of a recipe. As I have been writing this, I had to go to the web site to look up things, make sure I'm not missing anything. Dang! Nice web site for a small individual restaurant! But I figured it out. The sauce that came on the side of my dish was the "spicy soy sauce". That's what that was? Huh. It was Sriracha thinned with a little soy sauce. Same thing I got with the extra dumplings. Those once fried but held until ordered and warmed a little, little dumplings. SO gets the spicy pork rice. The spicy pork was prepared with some Kikkoman foodservice sauce. And then, um, rice. Maybe if I was charmed a little more with this little lunch place all of this would be forgivable, but I doubt it. There are other places to nosh at around here. And I would recommend doing just that.

I can only speak specifically to take out, although from a service perspective, everyone at the counter has been very nice and can clearly (and deliciously) describes the dishes they serve. I love this as a take out place. It's not close to my house (and we love to support local business), but when we are tired of the same o, same o, we come here and have absolutely never been disappointed. This has also been a standard stop for many a long trip home in the car when we just dont want to cook. I would describe specific dishes but we have had pretty much everything and have loved it, so there is not any one thing that I can recommend to order or avoid. This is simply a great little place and I highly recommend it - great Asian fusion mix!

  • Brenda H.

Wished I'd loved this place--I can eat anything, really. So I ordered the simplest things on the menu, yakisoba noodles and Nice Rice Beef and Broccoli. My noodles weren't anything special, but the beef n broccoli... Ew. Chewy, stringy, and full of inedible bits. I couldn't even take a bite of my husband's meal without having to spit it out. Just don't order the Beef and Broccoli!

Nice Rice Asian Eatery is a very nice concept. Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisines fused very nicely into a fast food eatery. An ambitious undertaking indeed but Nice Rice Eatery pulls it off quite nicely. For starters Nice Rice Asian Eatery makes killer Thai Iced Tea and Thai Iced Coffee. For $2.50 you get a Starbucks Venti sized drink that is oh so delicious. I've paid more in Thai restaurants and received far less Thai Iced Tea. The menu includes interesting items like Pad Thai, Yakisoba Noodles, Orange Chicken, Thai Green Curry, and Korean Short Ribs. Soups and salads are also offered. Nice Rice has vegetarian options and spicy dishes are prominently marked on the menu. The entrees are absolutely delicious and the prices are fair. Two people can easily dine for around $20 including drinks. Nice Rice Asian Eatery has a well decorated interior that is simple yet clean and comfortable. The staff is quick, friendly, and efficient. The customers are a cross section of people who look like they truly care about good food and nutrition. Nice Rice Asian Eatery is an establishment that proves quite nicely that fast food can indeed be tasty, affordable, and nutritious.

I have been going to Nice Rice since they opened and in fact when my husband travels I generally eat here every night. It had been quite some time since I was there so today I stopped by for lunch. I have always loved their Spring Rolls! Even though they are Veggie rolls they somehow still taste really wonderful, I think there may be noodles in them or the wrappers are extra thick and fluffy? Not sure but they are excellent! I am a huge fan of the Korean Short Ribs, they are fatty and ohh so tasty, just like they should be! The Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles are pretty good for a place that is not specifically Thai. The Bulgogi is also delicious! The gal at the bank said their Orange Chicken was to die for! Either it is new or I just realized they have a few different kind of rice choices, kudos, next time I will try something different! The only negative thing I can find is that their veggies are obviously out of a sack and steamed and their aren't many of them and the price is a bit higher than I would like to spend on Lunch, although It seems I do like the most expensive items on the menu! The service is always amazing and they have a smile on their face and are friendly. Their health score is good as well, which I find a plus!

  • Enrique H.

Too expensive for what you get. The food was OK but for $2 more I could get a real Korean spicy pork at G Mart, not too far from here. The receipt said 8.99, but my bank statement reflected 10.50, go figure.

Just tried out Nice Rice the other day after being on a quick asian food kick and it's not too shabby for the Hillsboro area! I enjoyed that they had 4 different types of rice to choose from, or you could get extra veggies in place of the rice! It's all made to order so everything tastes fresh. I had the Fire Chicken and it was pretty decent! Good place to grab something quick to eat and good prices as well. I'm dying to try their curry next!

  • Wolf L.

This place is close to my office and I've stopped in for lunch a couple of times. They try to cover a broad spectrum of Asian cuisine and that's probably why everything seems fairly generic. I've had the Drunken Noodles and the Japanese Curry. Not particularly awesome and not a lot of flavor, but good for a filling, reasonably priced lunch. Also, not the most inviting dining room, but if you're getting your food to-go like I do, that's not a problem. The place looks super clean, which is something I always appreciate.

Got the fried rice and a kid's meal for my child (meat, rice, veggies). Thought it was very good. Quality ingredients, good flavor and got quite a large serving. Will definitely go back.

Friendly service and alright food. I've been there a few times and have tried the Orange chicken and the Nice Fried Rice. The Orange Chicken was quite good until I found a questionable (chewy) piece of chicken that made me give up on finishing the dish. The Nice Fried Rice is also good, full of large chunks of scrambled eggs along with the requisite carrots and peas.....but I can't add enough soy sauce to the stuff. It's all fried together seemingly without a seasoning ever being introduced, so that the overall flavor is that of hot oil. Um, no. All of the food I've had so far is served HOT, not spicy hot but like right out of the frying pan hot. My tongue is burnt right now from my fried rice lunch. Better hot than warm/cold though.....not a complaint, just an observation. The spring rolls and sweet chili sauce are bomb diggity good though! There is a serious deficit of edible Chinese food in the immediate area, so when I get a craving I'll be back.......I just keep wishing it was better.

Bad tofu, bad! I was so excited to try this place since there aren't many vegan lunch options in the burbs for me to dine at during the work week but here I am... lunch half eaten next to me... still hungry... and not going to finish my tofu, rice and veggie bowl. Why? Because the tofu is just wrong. It reminds of what I imagined tofu would be like back in my meat eating days before I tried GOOD tofu (prior to being vegan)---tasteless, squishy and just not appetizing. Hmmm... now what to eat? On a side note, the interior is fun and modern with bold art on the wall and sexy, zebrawood-like tables. I want them. Unfortunately , the decor alone is not going to bring me back for more tofu.

Was a bit skeptical, I had the fire chicken and was pleasantly surprised. A bit pricey but very fresh and quality ingredients. Pretty dang good, I'll be coming back.

My kids have raved about the orange chicken for months. Yesterday I ate their leftovers and what do you know - they were right! This was the best orange chicken I have ever had. Chicken was moist and the the breading was just right, not too much, not too crunchy. The sauce was lovely and not too sweet. And, I appreciate that you can choose different types of rice. I like the multi-grain, it's different. I usually order the pad thai, and it is pretty good. The beef and broccoli is hit or miss. The broccoli is fresh, the meat is sometimes more gristly than I like.

Love this place! The service is second to none! The food is always fresh. Definitely recommend this place!!!! The owner is there most days and he is always happy to help with anything. He's fantastic at describing the flavoring of spices, food, drinks, etc.

Crispy pork was spicy good. Lots of other dishes as well as drinks and candies also available. Spring rolls are great. My wife didn't care for it, gave her indigestion.

The 1st time I stepped in the door I was transported to back to Japan by the Pocky boxes and little Japanese toys they sell. Now I'm not going to say the food is authentic Japanese shops, but I'm saying it's good. actually bordering on great for a little place stufed into a strip mall. Everything I've tried has been flavorful, plentiful and priced decently. Service has been great to so-so depending on how busy it is, but really when you can see them cooking your food and you know it's fresh it makes the wait worth it. My recommendations so far, spring roll, drunken noodles, yakisoba, fire chicken, and spicy pork.

    (4)
  • Jeff B.

Clean, busy, and friendly. The fire chicken w/ veggies was okay. At $7.95+$1.00 for veggies, I expected a little more. The non-battered meat is a nice healthier alternative to other local Chinese restaurants but the flavor was a bit bland for my taste.

  • Emi K.

This place is really close to where we live, and we went here the first day we moved to this area. We first were not expecting anything, but the food here is strangely cheap, fast, good and addicting. Definitely not the best Asian food, but it's another of those healthier option for fast food. Not the most authentic asian food, but our family friend loves it too, and comes all the way from Beaverton to eat. Drunken noodles is our favorite. The people here are really nice. Apparently the owner got fed up with the corporate life and quit his job and started this restaurant. Overall, this place is definitely the what you might call the best delicious food. But it's another of those places I go because it's easy, fast, cheap, and good.

A tasty meal at a real nice price. The food was good and spices made the dish taste really authentic. Worth the try!

I love love love Nice Rice! It has an eclectic mix of the best-of-the-best from korean, japanese, chinese and thai cuisines. Personally, the drunken noodles rock my world. I've tried some other things--I like the curries a lot--but I keep coming back to those criminally good drunken noodles! The service is super friendly. Thumbs up. Five stars. A+

Okay, so I gave this place a second chance because a couple co-workers wanted to go here for lunch. At their advice I chose between the Nice Rice Beef aka bulgogi and the Korean short ribs. I went with the Nice Rice Beef because it was a $1.50 cheaper than the short ribs. It wasn't half bad. I did add a lot of Sriracha to balance out the sweetness of the beef but the portion was decent for $7. It didn't blow my socks off but it certainly didn't suck like the yakisoba I had there my first time. This will not likely be a regular place for me due to the cost to tastiness ratio but I may go back with the co-workers and get the short ribs next time to see if they are as good as people say.

Nice rice is nice. I have gone here a couple of times so far and had several of the stir fry and curry type dishes. All the dishes were good. The vegetables tasted fresh, and the food was not oily or soggy like some of the Chinese restaurants in this area. The dishes are definitely not the most authentic, however they tasted good. I prefer Nice rice to any of the Chinese restaurants in this area. For Thai food however, there are some good ones around. That said the food is cheap, the interior is nice and hip, the service is good and fast. I am giving this 5 starts since this is the best Asian fusion fast food type place around (definitely way better than noodle and co).

Based on comments I heard at work, I went there today for lunch. I had the Drunken Noodles with tofu and a spring roll on the side. I chose to eat it there because it is served in a large wide noodle bowl. And I suspected a to-go container would just over steam it. I'm impressed, very impressed. A well crafted meal. I want to go back there right now and eat again. ........ I've gone back 4+ times and always order something new. Every meal has really been great.

I visited Nice Rice for the takeout because their menu was pretty eclectic. We got a few meat/veggies entrees and a fried tofu and rice bowl. I'm a fried tofu addict, it's one of my favorite junk foods. The fried tofu I ended up with at nice rice was like a somewhat soggy tough little Zoloft dumpling of depression. It had the appeal of Styrofoam, not kidding! I drowned the bastards in sweet chili sauce and finishing them was still a task I couldn't achieve. The other entrees were edible at best. Same old story, new review. The sauces were too thick, with a cornstarchy consistency, and waaay too salty. Maybe I'd enjoy this sort of thing if I'd been smoking Parliaments for the last 15 years, but I haven't. The boys working behind the counter were nice, but couldn't cook to save their lives. Even the rice was bad. Dried out. I'd opt for Soba down the street!

Mmm... generic asian cuisine. The thing about places that don't commit to any specific part of Asia but rather go for a sample of a few, is that while a lot of them do a good job they never really do a great job. This place is essentially turning out bento with additional options. I've had a handful of different dishes here, and your best bet is to go with something that's protein, veggie and rice focused, with the exception to this being the crispy tofu. I'm not sure how you can cook tofu without it taking on any flavor whatsoever, but these guys found the secret. Making up for the tofu failure are options like the delicious spicey pork or nice rice chicken add veggies. Start exploring the noodle based options and it's a mixed bag. The pad sew ew is alright but oddly sweet. The pad thai is similarily only okay, but to be fair pad thai almost never does it for me. All non-noodle, salad or soup dishes comes with a choice of rice (white, jasime, brown or multigrain... whatever the hell that is) and the portions are legit but more rice than I imagine most people need or want.

Starving, we rolled up to Nice Rice 10 minutes or so before they were gonna close. However, the guy at the counter was very friendly and let us know about the different dishes. I got the Nice Rice Chicken with teriyaki and multigrain rice. All for under $6 and was healthy (maybe) and delicious. I like that this place has food from different parts of Asia- maybe next time I'll get the Korean short ribs...or maybe some pad Thai...

Nice Rice is a place I drove by on many ocassions but never thought about eating at. I assumed it was your typical Asian/Teriyaki eatery, the one with the same typical menu of teriyaki beef/pork/chicken, noodles, soups, and all your other typical Asian fare. Well, all these assumptions were laid to rest when a friend and I hit it up one late Monday evening after work. I was pleasantly suprised at the cleanliness of the place and the open kitchen. The service was excellent and very helpful. Being that it was my first time there, I asked for a few suggestions, but ended up ordering the spicy pork (dwaeji bul gogi) and spring roll combo. Hey, I'm Korean so I couldn't resist. The food was ready in about 5 minutes or so. It was a good portion (not great) of spicy pork laid over a bowl of rice. The taste was 100% authentic Korean flavor, no doubt about it. I was thinking it would probably be a sweet non-spicy version rather than the real thing so I was pleasantly suprised. Nice Rice is a healthy, good "fast food" Korean restaurant, something Portland is really lacking. Don't get me wrong though, it's not just a Korean joint, they also serve up a ton of other Asian stuff, but I'll stick with my Korean food.

This place seems like it should be great, but just fails on execution. The chicken is dry, the sauces are strange, the noodles overcooked, etc. I keep coming back, thinking I just ordered the wrong thing but each time am disappointed.

I would definitely consider myself to be a regular here and it's not just because it's convenient. I love the consistently friendly service, and the food is to die for. I'm writing this review while vacationing in Arizona, wishing more than anything that I could have fire chicken and three steamed dumplings. Nice Rice is NICE!!!

Date Visited: Wednesday 12/19/09 (Dinner) I love it when someone at a restaurant speaks vegan. The nice girl behind the counter was very fluent in vegan and put our minds at ease, recommending some dishes for us and saying they could be made without fish sauce or shrimp paste. My husband got the Thai Basil & Green Beans in Garlic Sauce and I got the Pad Thai. We sat by the window and I was very aware that the restaurant's seating arrangement didn't make sense at all. All the round tables on the left side of the room (from where you enter the restaurant) were for 2 people. The right side contained a long bench against the wall and then square or rectangular tables to seat 2-4 people. There were 7 people eating and we were ALL on the right side of the room. Anyway, our food was served in nice red and black bowls and we were given the option of chopsticks or a fork. Of course, my husband took the chopsticks and I took the fork. I liked my dish. I just wasn't crazy about it and my husband said he would trade if I wanted. I tried his and we decided a trade was in our best interest. I loved the green bean dish. He seemed to really enjoy the Pad Thai, especially with the red and green peppers I dumped into his bowl from mine. He thought the green beans were spicy, but I didn't get that sense. It definitely had a good garlic kick, so I walked out of there happy with what I had and will certainly be heading there again.

Very average tofu Pad Thai. Only condiments were soy sauce or Sirrachi... Took away one star because I was charged more than the price in the online menu. Doubt if I will return.

The owners are very nice. I had the spicy pork with the suggested multi-grain rice, and it was fantastic. The only knock I have is the ambiance...it seems a little austere (concrete floors, high ceilings). Other then that, it's great!

Amazing food, great selection, friendly staff, fast service, great prices, really nice atmosphere and tasteful decor. This place is awesome!!! - I highly recommend it!

The name says it all; it's nice and it's rice. Four different rice options - white (sticky Japanese style), brown, jasmine and something else... whole grain? Nice-sized portions (actually on the larger side for one person). Nice prices - most dishes seem to be between $6 and $10. Nice balance - good amount of rice, veggies and protein. Well, actually, maybe a little bit light on the veggie-side and heavy on the rice side. Nice taste - not too salty, my bulgogi-style meat was thin and tender, not overly saucy. The onions were soft, but not smooshy. The broccoli was crisp-tender. So, it was... well, nice rice. P.S. There's also noodles, so maybe the name doesn't *exactly* say it *all*. Oh, and there's a charming display of Asian snacks, too. P.P.S. We were informed that it is a pan-Asian, not Asian fusion, place.

I work just down the road from this place and from the first time I visited Nice Rice I've been in love with their food. The staff made recommendations on what to try on my first visit. I got the Orange Chicken and have been getting it ever since. It is now, officially, my favorite meal. I usually get it with the jasmine rice and spring roll. I will agree with others that the prices are a bit steep - if there were 2 or 3 dollars lower, I would definitely make this a regular place to go.

  • Catie L.

I like this place because I can get a cheap curry fix in a flash. Plus they have Thai Iced Tea (which is somewhat like crack to me, I can never pass it up). The owner/manager is always friendly. I like the decor and the place always looks clean. They have a great variety on the menu including curry, yakisoba, pad thai, fried rice, and various other asian cuisine options. They have a selection of four different rices instead of just white steamed and fried like other places. Nice Rice offers brown, white, and oh, and most importantly they have jasmine rice, which fills me with joy. If you need decent asian on the go this is the place. They have daily specials as well. The only downer is that some things can be a little over-cooked at times and their fried rice may seem bland to some palates.

Ate here again last night and nothing has changed, still great fast and fresh food. I had the spicy pork and would recommend it to all my fellow pig lovers.

Went there for lunch today. It was ok. Me and my friend had the basil green bean chicken dish. Good flavored sauce, the chicken was a little overcooked and the green beans could have standed a quick dip in boiling water before stirfrying...they had a lot of "texture". I would go back, but might order something different.

  • Christopher W.

The staff is friendly, the food is good, and the prices are only a little bit more than I would like to pay. Their bulgogi isn't the best but the orange chicken and BBQ ribs were both great. For some reason fried rice isn't a choice to have with your meal unless you get ONLY fried rice (sans any meat). I'm not sure why this is. If you need a quick, good rice lunch I'd recommend this place, but the prices ($8 for most items) keep me from being a regular.

This place has newly reopened. and i must say for a tasty lunch or dinner go and enjoy some of their dishes. i really enjoy the korean ribs, and the spicy pork. If you feeling noodles the Pad kee Mao is is a nice treat, while i ask for spicy. its great they even have different curries. its nice to go to a place, and eat, good and quick pan-asian food without having to Submit to the long wait time of white linens.

This place has an Asian menu that isn't 100% anything. A little bit of Thai, a little bit of Korean... My last visit to Nice Rice was definitely different than the last few visits. The place seems to have gotten WAY better. Even my coworker agreed. The flavor in my pad thai was stronger, the chicken seemed fresher, the presentation was better. Everything was better. I'll definitely be coming back to Nice Rice a lot sooner than later.

I was looking for a good place to eat lunch in tanasbourne and decided to check this place out. The menu is a mix of japanese, korean, and thai food. I ordered a yellow curry with chicken and brown rice. I did have a choice of white (sticky), brown, and jasmine, but I never had brown rice with curry and it's usually not an option at traditional thai restaurants. The service was not too bad - about a 15 minute wait. The flavor was a little bland so I added a little hot pepper sauce and salt which seemed to do the trick.

Good pan-Asian stop when you need something quick -- their teriyaki was great (though a little salty), and the service was excellent.

I said before, I really like this place and the owners too! I went back today to get an order to go and notice they started using "real" dishware, That makes me HAPPY that's awesome. And it makes me feel alot better about going there alot more often and now I will be telling my friends about this place. I especially like that they use brown rice (but you have to ask). This place is all about taking better care of ourselves healthwise and our childrens planet. Thanks guys for listening!

My friend and I stopped here on a whim as we were starving and the place we were going to was sort of far away. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice helping us figure out what to order. It has a nice feel, clean, but I agree with the previous review of the strange seating, everyone sat at the rectangular tables on the right side. The food: I ordered the #9 Thai basil & Green beans in garlic sauce, 1 dumpling and of course edamame, topped off with Thai iced tea. The Thai basil & green beans was really good. It seemed a bit too salty/saucy, but I have never had this dish before so maybe that is normal. I am a wimp when it comes to heat in my food, but I like a little kick. This dish gave me just the correct amount of runny nose. The dumpling was good, but I needed a sauce to dunk it in. The edamame was was delish, though a little too salty for my liking (I still of course finished it all!). And the tea was delightful. My friend ordered the #15 Nice Rice spicy pork. I am not a pork fan, but sampled it, I thought it was good, though too salty (apparently a common theme for me). She liked it well enough, but thought it would have been better with chicken or beef, which I agreed with. She likes her food very hot, and this dish gave her a good runny nose too, though I think she upped the ante on the spice. All in all, I thought everything was pretty good, for a very good price, I would like to go back and try something else next time!

I came here for lunch today for the first time! And, my husband and I think it's a definite keeper! The interior is clean and simple, which I love! They have a huge variety and the prices aren't too bad; we got a lot of food and we couldn't finish it. The food is brought to you hot and very fresh - the two dishes we had were full of flavor and a lot of veggies and a TON of meat! We will definitely be returning in the near future!

While this new place does have some fairly decent food, it is over-priced. You get some scoops of rice with a piece of your choice of cooked meat for about 7 dollars. I could have easily made the dishes at home for cheaper. The interior of the place seemed bare and cheap. Basically, do not expect too much. If you're looking for quick, easy, and fairly good Asian food, you've found you're next meal, but if you're looking for exquisite Asian cuisine....keep looking.

Orange chicken was AMAZING. Yakisoba noodles were good - could have a little more flavor. Will definetly be back!

Nice Rice is on my favorite restaurant list! I normally don't eat out for lunch but have made an exception. So good I'll even stop by on my way home from work to get dinner to go. Great food at reasonable prices.. and can't forgot to mention the friendly service! Variety of Asian dishes to select from and even as a vegetarian I can find many things to eat. I like the fact that they have healthy food and they allow you to substitute tofu to most dishes! Whether you eat at the restaurant or take it to go, Nice Rice is worth adding to your favorite restaurant list!

Great little Asian restaurant near Tanasbourne. They have a variety of tasty Asian dishes - pad thai, yakisoba, japanese curry, udon, and orange chicken to name a few - that will suit just about anyone's taste buds. The ingredients are high quality and the entrees are freshly prepared, so you won't wind up with anything that's packed with preservatives and has been sitting under a warming lamp for half the day. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is nicely decorated in warm colors with a big mural along one wall - it's way nicer than what you'd find in most casual restaurants. Definitely worth checking out.

From the first time I had lunch in this place I was blown away by their friendly service, great food, and reasonable prices. Their atmosphere is super simple and clean, which I like. Their food is really good, especially for lunch and how fast it is. I like this place so much I go there everyday for lunch, in fact. I highly recommend their spicy pork, and nice rice chicken. I like that they have a variety of rice to choose from, but my favorite is their jasmine rice. It's cool that this restaurant samples from the best dishes of many asian cultures: a rare find. You should definitely check them out if you're ever in the Hillsboro/Beaverton area and are looking for some tasty Asian lunch.

Very nice atmosphere and service. The lady was very welcoming. Loved that it's close to my house too! :)

I used to love their Red Thai Curry. Went by there today and found that they are indeed closed. Will soon be an Indian restaurant instead. Bummer...

WARENING: don't go unless you want diarrhea! We brought our kid there, kid shared the dish with us, and three of us all had diarrhea just now! First was the kid, then it was me and my wife! I suspect it was because of the green bean. The green beans were pretty raw and we just had some of them! And that is the only dish we share with each other, and then all of us had diarrhea!

Looks like they went out of business. Such a shame! I stopped by around 12:30 pm and the lights were off and the door locked. The coolers were empty.

I really love this place. It's close to my work so I come at least once per week. I like that it serves organic veggies and hormone free chicken. The chicken yakisoba is my go-to dish but I've tried a few others and they are good as well. I love that it comes with miso soup and hot tea.

Great customer resolve. I received, not so perfect chicken (which is out of the norm there, usually its pretty awesome) so I called to let them know. The manager guy didn't make excuses or make me feel like I was being annoying, he offered a refund or a replacement. I was unable to go back that day so he honored it at a later date, with a smile. It tasted great as usual.

Today, I ordered pad thai and couldn't eat it. Didn't taste like pad thai at all. Noodles were greasy and bland. I ordered it spicy, but it came without any heat at all. I almost wonder if the cook even used the correct sauce, as even mild pad thai has a very different flavor. I ordered 'to go' or I'd have asked them for my money back. I'm bummed! I like supporting businesses that support organic, sustainable food production. I wish that it was more consistent. I ate here 2 weeks ago and ordered the exact same thing. Was much better that time. In all fairness, I believe they should have been given a chance to correct this, but I don't want to drive 8 miles back. Second, my request for spicy, as in hot!, was not incorporated in the least, so..... strike 2. It also wasn't busy. I was the only person in there at 3pm. I might try again sometime, but it'll be awhile.

** update, we still love this place but the prices have gone up a bit. Still worth it for all natural, organic ingredients. My husband and I really like this place. It is fast, clean, friendly and most importantly it's delicious. We have tried orange chicken, pad Thai, drunken noodles, fire chicken and the nice rice chicken bowls. I usually order the nice rice chicken bowl with brown rice, veggies and peanut sauce, extra sauce. The veggies are broccoli and carrots that a vibrant colored and fresh. Make sure you ask for extra sauce! So good! I took a Thai cooking class and learned how to make authentic pad Thai and I learned that many restaurants cheat and use ketchup in their pad Thai, not this place! The sauce is brown not orange, and tastes very authentic. Very friendly staff, never busy and pretty affordable. I wouldn't go here on a romantic date, the atmosphere is not great, it's not hip or trendy, but it's a good last minute quick healthy fresh tasting dinner.

I have been here about 2 times and tried their Nice Fried Rice and the Fire chicken. The Nice fried rice was ok but had a burnt smell to it which made it little unpleasant for me to eat it. The taste was ok but for $8 its a little pricey for just the fired rice. I could spend $2 to get a Thai fired rice and have it for 2 meals. The fire chicken also had the same burnt flavor but that could be becos the chicken is supposed to be Charbroiled in that. I donno if somehow i made it to their place on a bad day. But this is based on my experience. I would definitely prefer take out from a Thai place or Panda express over this one.

I've driven by nice rice at least one hundred times and finally decided to stop by, boy am I glad I did. The place is somewhat small on the inside. I was greeted with a line of about 6 people. This place must be good. The cashier was very nice and always smiled. I ordered the pad see you, I know my spelling is off on that. The thing I didn't like was how you have to order veggies to be put in your dish. The price is only a dollar more but if there wasn't a long line I wouldn't have known that the dish didn't come with broccoli and carrots. Needless to say I ordered with veggies. Service was pretty quick as my meal was brought out to me in approximately 6 minutes. Food was good, although I do have to say the portion size is a little smaller than some other places I've been to recently. Place was clean. If you're like me and you drive by this place and have never stopped by, do yourself a favor and stop on in on one lazy afternoon.

This is a good lunch spot if you're in a hurry and want to avoid fast food. They really play up the organic/hormone-free chicken hype to create the appearance of a healthy eatery. While they are probably a much healthier choice than a greasy burger, do keep in mind that much of the food is fried and loaded with sugar and salt. As far as taste, most of the food I've tried leaves a lot to be desired by the Udon was actually good. This is a pan Asian restaurant so authenticity is, noticeably, not a priority.

I have eaten here twice. It has been great both times. I had tempura shrimp with orange chicken and white rice. They have lots more I would like to try in the future. I thought the service was good and the restaurant was clean. It's a little more spendy than what I would usually spend but I thought it was good and worth the value of what I ate.

Woo Hoo! Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese - not a huge menu but options from all of these. Really tasty, helpful and friendly servers, nice place to eat. I thought their take on fried wonton was interesting, but I'm not a fan of the spicy soy sauce. I had the Thai basil green beans in garlic sauce... wow - it was really good. They mixed the sauce in with the rice and I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. The orange chicken has an amazing flavor - much more tasty than anything I've had before. This is a new favorite place of mine and I hope to get back there several times. You should try it - you'll like it.
