Lived in the area for 25 years finding the absolute best teriyaki available. Kokiyo's is KING when it comes to the teriyaki. The best part is that they sell the sauce in big bottles for $5 so you can make your own chicken but use the best sauce around town.

I came here for take out and was surprised at how fast they were. I ordered a teriyaki chicken ($6.35) and it was ready in about 5 min. I guess they were winding down and there wasn't anyone ahead of me, but it was still nice. Chicken was good because it was crispy on the edges but not dry at the center. I like their brown rice option too (+$1) and it was a dollar went spent. Some places make their brown rice very dry but this one was okay. The steamed veggies tasted a little odd but it was fine after I soaked it in the extra teriyaki sauce they provided.

For what it is...chicken & rice... it's great. I love that brown rice is an option & the steamed veggies are perfect. Great sauce, too. I also like the teriyaki beef dish. Good-sized portions, too. I tried the miso soup once & it was gross but I'd never had miso soup before & maybe I just don't like miso.

Love all their combos!!! Their chicken teriyaki is delicious and they aren't cheap on how much they give you either! The staff is friendly and super nice. I also think it is nice that they provide free tea if you dine in. A great place to just grab food and go... however, I have noticed that I have fell into food comas after eating at this place a few times -_- I also had their orange chicken and honey chicken in the past, and both were tasty. There isn't anything that I can complain of this place. My 4 star vs the 5 star is just opinion and based on taste alone. Service and everything else is superb!

Excellent food. Friendly staff. Did I mention excellent food? Lots of people come here during lunch so plan ahead. To go orders take no time at all. Never have I been dissatisfied in my food!

I love their food always fresh and big portions so we always have lunch for the next day. Very cheaply priced but great food.

Got lunch here. The food was good, not exceptional or anything. Just basic teriyaki. Though yheir teriyaki sauce is thick not thin and runny. I like how they put tge chicken on top of the veggies instead of on the rice, I like my rice plain. Everyone was nice. I work close by and will probably come back, this is where everyone from work goes. (I still have yet to get better teriyaki than my usual soy grill in gresham.)

Excellent food for an excellent price. The boxes are easily big enough to share between 2 people. The inside is always clean and the staff is always very nice. Orders are always quick to be made.

I really like their teriyaki. The hot and spicy wasn't for me because it was deep fried and a little hard. That's more of a preference than a downfall. Prices and portions are fantastic and the staff is friendly.

This place is worth trying. They serve large and fairly tasty dishes. If you are into spicy then you should try the Korean spicy chicken. Enjoy

This place is really good ! My daughter and I love to get their teriykai bowls and split it because they give you so much food! The sauce is really good too. Will keep coming back.

I've been obsessed with chicken teriyaki/gyoza lately. I had it twice in 2 and a half days at 2 different places: here and Yaki Day down the street. I prefer Kokiyo. The cashier lady is sweet. They have a flat screen TV (usually playing CNN at the perfect volume), better ambiance, much more room, nicer staff, cheaper prices, good portions, good food, not as busy shopping center, better parking, and no need to bus your own table. Kokiyo charges $0.50 for drink refills, while Yaki does not. Kokiyo seems cleaner and is more affordable.

I love teriyaki, and I love white rice. I would totally eat a bowl of white rice with just teriyaki sauce on it, except that's a total carb bomb and I'm trying to think through my food choices a little more in my *ahem* advanced age, that being the age where you realize that the way you ate in your 20's with no problem now makes your ass expand exponentially and irretrievably. I digress. I asked about the chicken before I ordered.... I can't deal with the sketch cuts of chicken you get at some teriyaki places. She said the chicken teriyaki was skinless, all breast meat. Excellent, we are on the right path then. The chicken was good and paired nicely with the (maybe too) sweet teriyaki. There was plenty of chicken and plenty of rice, but also a shit-ton of cabbage. I don't like cabbage so I wasn't enthused by that, but I think even an enthusiastic cabbage-eater would have said "enough already" to that portion size. Oy. There were 2 carrot coins and 2 small broccoli pieces mixed in too, but cabbage clearly ruled the day's veggie selection. Good prices, friendly service, and an inviting interior round out the experience. I will definitely be back (although next time, I'll tell them to hold the cabbage.)

This place is not bad but it's not super great either. I work right near here so I will probably get something from here again. The chicken always seems a bit on the dry side and the teriyaki aside a little in the sweet side. I prefer Nara teriyaki up the street but maybe that's just my tastes. Overall it really isn't bad and the place is clean so if you like it great, a lot of people must they are always busy.

The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they recently raised their prices, boooo! I love the chicken and rice though! I could eat here everyday (and actually have while on a diet) the gyoza is good too!

Decent food with good prices, and super fast service. I've seen this place get slammed during the lunch rush, and they still crank out the orders. I would give 3.5 stars if offered, but I don't think it's 4 star quality. The food just isn't that special. I usually opt for the Chicken Bento, or the Daily special which is almost ALWAYS Chicken teri with an egg roll. The bento is under $5 and always leaves me plenty full. After living in Hawaii for several years, I often find myself jonesing for some good ol' Teriyaki and white rice. Kokiyo does the trick, although they serve steamed veggies on the side instead of the ubiquitous mac salad you get in Hawaii.

First time here. Unfortunately they don't offer a white meat chicken breast option, so we probably won't come back. Pro's - nice atmosphere and big portions. Good edamame. Side size is twice as big as pictured so be ready to share. Orange chicken flavor was really good but the chicken was all end pieces and very hard. Because of this we probably won't come back. They also charge $.50 for refills. Not sure if I know of any other places that do that these days. A bit cheap if you ask me.

I can't get all foamy at the mouth as others, but it is a good lunch. The brown rice that I had with my tofu and veggies was well made, texture without being mush or crunchy. Brown rice, if it is jacked up is just nasty, so points; they know how to cook. A lot of cabbage, a little carrot is the veggie part, good sized chunks of tofu. I mean, I wasn't expecting a lot and I wasn't surprised. But the teriyaki sauce is not exceptional, but rather Kikkoman-ish. I recommend this if you are in the area, though. Parking is very evil at lunch hour, very.

New favorite teriyaki place in Hillsboro! Good food, good prices, and good portions! Never had a bad experience!

My first visit here was off to a bad start when my order had been forgotten. They remembered to serve my companions food and people that arrived after us, but they completely forgot about my meal. By the time the situation had been resolved, my friends had already finished their meals. Other than that incident, I will say their portions are generous and you might need a to-go box depending on your hunger. The meal I ordered was chicken teriyaki. It was just bathed in soy sauce, which kind of put me off from enjoying it. My second visit was smoother than the first, however, I did notice another mix-up happen at the table next to mine. If they could become more organized and avoid these seemingly constant mishaps with orders, they would definitely get at least one more star. On a more positive note, the interior is pleasant and the tinted windows and AC provide a nice escape from the sun. But still, easy on the sauce please! :)

So I will list the pros first. 1. The atmosphere is very nice and new. Obviously this Kokiyo has better interior than any of the other dive kokiyos I have ever visited. 2. Prices are fairly reasonable considering the quantities of the plates. In Portland you would pay between $8 and $9 for a single meal instead of $7. 3. The staff are freindly, althought with a high language barrier I still feel like my business is appreciated. 4. The food quality is a small notch better than any other teriyaki joint in the area especially the putrid kokiyo in the sunset esplanade that serves cold, dry, nasty food. CONS: 1. Food quality could really be improved. I really dont believe that teriyaki has to settle down to such low mediocre standards 90% of the time. When I make it at home it takes little time to make and tastes 5x better. 2. Although the restaurant is nice inside they could do a better job of maintaining the cleanliness of the store. All in all I think its a decent value for lunch. Definitely a healthier more filling option over fast food burgers and fries (if you dont drench the food in sauce). I would come here again only if I was very hungry and couldnt imagine eating anything but teriyaki. This may sound like a bad reveiw but I consider it a mediocre review as the experience was okay. Its hard to expect much from any of the kokiyo restaurants as they are not very good on average anyways.

Popped in and grabbed chicken yakisoba to go. Chicken tasted like it was cooked last week (charred and dry chunks). And there wasn't much of it. Veggies were raw. Noodles were barely cooked. Asked for soy sauce and got none. Blech! Wouldn't go back for money. Nuf Said.

My wife and I have eaten here many times and have had no bad experiences. My recommendation is to belive the 4 and 5 star reviews and ignore the 1 and 2 star reviews that I believe were written by pros working for the oposition. This is a place that has a diverse customer base, you name it they have it. It is amazing the amount of takie-outie food that leaves the place. Many families with children eat here and one does not have to ask for extra plates,

This place is good! They use quality pieces of white meat chicken--not strange cuts that include tendons and ligaments. Brown rice is available for an extra buck. Free hot tea is a nice plus.

Great for lunches. Food is excellent and cheap. I like cheap. The rice is really tasty and the noodles are excellent. If you go at lunch expect a long line. Parking kinda sucks. Gotta fight with everyone for a spot in the small parking lot.

I had lunch today at Kokiyo Teriyaki. I walked in and the place was almost empty! Though it is a Sunday. I had eaten here before and it was really good. Since I had been back they have remodeled and taken over the business space next to them. I ordered a simple chicken Teriyaki with white rice and a small drink. The price was a little over $7. The food had a came out of the kitchen very quickly! It had good flavor to it though it was luke warm at best when it arrived (surprising considering it came right now of the kitchen). I remember that I used to love their plum sauce when I visited last. This time.... not so much. They seem to have watered it down a bit I am guessing to make it go further. The quantity of food was good but quality left some to be desired.

The teriyaki and white rice is good. I think I get the number 3. They have some smaller portions with some of their dishes which is a good deal for the lunch time crowd. I had the teriyaki chicken and white rice and the teriyaki sauce is quite tasty. And they white rice is done well & is sticky. The vegetables aren't all that fresh so I would skip those. I think they do a decent job and the prices are fair.

To be fair, I got dragged into eating here to satiate my fiancé's teriyaki craving. I had ordered fish katsu but they were out for the day and subbed in shrimp tempura. The shrimp were good but the rice was a gigantic, glutenous mush ball. Nothing ruins a meal like mushy rice. I might have just gotten the bottom of the cooker. Fiancé swears by their teriyaki, but if you're not a meat eater then I'd pick something else.

Nice portions, decent price, and good chicken and beef. They give you plenty of cabbage but only one piece of broccoli. Once I got lucky and got 2 1/2 pieces. Served with rice on the side which is sweet and sticky as it should be, but can be upgraded to noodles for a buck more. I like drowning my plate in teriyaki sauce which they keep well stocked at all tables. The chicken Katsu is tasty as well. I like this place enough that it is in my work week lunch rotation.

My most favorite teriyaki restaurant in Hillsboro! The gal who works the desk is always so patient and kind. The food comes out fairly quickly. No other place I know has brown rice as sweet and sticky as their brown rice! I crave the stuff. Portions are large and prices are decent. The meat and steamed veggies have always been cooked perfectly. The egg rolls are delish! My orders have always come out right. I have never had a complaint about this place in the 2 + years I have been eating here.

Husband and I take the two kiddos to this place all the time. Everything we have tried is wonderful. Service is friendly and quick. We order 3 things for our family and still have plenty to take home for another meal the next day. I'm addicted to the curry rice even though that isn't something I have seen on the menu of other teriyaki places. I would pick this teriyaki restaurant over others I have tried in the area.
