Steve H was a perfect server, didn't make one mistake. He went above and beyond. I rarely leave good reviews, but this guy really cares for people.

Holy cow. What a huge disappointment. Right from the start, I could tell this was going to be a bad experience. Took 10 min, yes 10, to have our server address us and get us started. By this time we were already ready to order. Order placed and it took 32 minutes for our food. During this 32 minute wait the server not once came to our table to refill our drinks. We were treated to stale breadsticks and a half filled boat of alfredo sauce and when the meals came, my dates meal was great. My meal was poorly put together, dried out and looked like it sat under a warming lamp. Always have had a good experience at this location. This time was probably enough to keep me away. Really disappointing.

To all of you Olive Garden lovers: I hate to burst your bubble, but from inside information that I am privy to, I have some news that may shock you. The only thing that the kitchen staff does is boil your pasta, and toss the salad. Everything else is sent from Corporate Headquarters USA in large plastic bags. Soups...check, Marinara sauce...check. Alfredo sauce...check. Poured out of a plastic bag into a pot, heated up, and ladled onto your plate. Nothing is made in house. Nada Zilch. Pennies to produce, and armored trucks hauling away the profits. And this is not authentic Italian food to begin with. It is to please American palates just as chop suey was invented by entrepreneur Chinese after soldiers returning from WW2. Same as Tiki bars began appearing to stimulate what they had grown to love in Polynesia. So there you have it. Olive Garden is fleecing us every graduation, Mother's Day, Birthday, Date night and Sunday night dinner out, the good old American way.

The food was good and all but our waited Steve was awesome. He have great service and he was hilarious. If I could give him more stars, I would.

Breadsticks, Zuppa Tuscana, and salad are really your best bets here. Service was friendly, though we waited an awfully long time for our check. Beyond that, it is a typical Olive Garden with multiple overpriced dishes that feel/taste like they were microwaved.

We had about a 15 person group, waiting obviously took long, to get our drinks taken 20 minutes? To get our food order taken another 20? Too long for me. Food was okay my zupa tuschna was lacking any pepper salt, flavor, as well as my seafood Alfredo we had two waiters (big group) the women was not helpful NEVER got my drink refilled. Came to our section of the table asked two people around me if they wanted cheese on there dishes didn't bother asking me didn't even look at me walker away before I could ask, it's a big group your obviously going to get tipped well doesn't mean you get to suck at waiting us. Don't come here very often this is why. Wait staff needs to be trained properly.

We were seated right away, ordered right away. Then we never saw our waiter again....very frustrating! Three times other employees asked us how we were doing, three times we asked to have our soup refilled...three times that wss ignored. So when it came to getting the desert that came with the special. That came only after they packed our food to go. SOOOOO SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. Food was delicious. I know this property has been here a very long time, but it needed a good cleaning... the booths were uncomfortable, I felt it slud sliding in when my tail landed smack dab into hard wood.... ouch. The booth we sat in had dried marinara on the wall. So in a nut shell... 1:great food 2:great price 3:poor service 4:dirty

In my experience, best one in town. Seated right away. Service was good. Food was good. Resturant was full but the way they have the tables laid out, it did not feel crowded. Accoustics are good, with everybody talking, I could hear the discussion at my table easily. I had the soup, kids had the spaghetti and my husband had the new clam, scallops and noodle dish. Everything was hot and tasted good. My husband is a large guy and he did appreciate that the chairs in the resturant accomidated his husky physique.

Steve was the best server ever at Olive Garden ever! Everyone else should be fired and he should own Olive Garden!

Great food, service exceeds my expectations every time, yesterday we had Ryan as our server. Their are some people that have a gift to serve and this guy does, I was very suprised how soft spoken he was we never had to ask for refills on anything it was like he just knew. Solid food solid service every time!

I would never choose Olive Garden, but my family likes to go there for a couple of gatherings a year, cause it's easy and my Grandpa likes it cause we all just get the never-ending soup/salad/breadsticks and it's pretty cheap for a family night with no dishes to do. Sometimes one of their specials is fairly decent, and I haven't had their stuffed mushrooms for ages but remember them being good. Their food is not special, but their salad dressing is really good. I also love the Zuppa Toscana (sausage, kale and potato soup). So, that's what I get. I can never really eat enough to make it worth the money. Really, good Italian is fairly lacking in Portland, so I see why a lot of people go to Olive Garden. For a chain though-it's decent-you know what you're going to get. Skip the overpriced terrible drinks. Once I had a caramel Italian soda that was quite delicious though.

Big disappointment for three meals costing $85.00. This chain has gone down hill... We will not be back. Upon entering the restaurant, there was a funky smell of burnt cheese and dirty mops. The Breadsticks were burnt on outside and under cooked on inside. The endless salad was almost frozen and the dressing tasted terrible. The Calamari had a tasty breading but the calamari itself was rubbery. The Filet was tough like shoe leather. The Chicken Marsala came drowned in a really oily sauce which tasted bitter (melted cheese oil and bad Marsala would be my guess). The chicken itself was over cooked and the mashed potatoes were rustic and lumpy which actually stood up to the oily sauce. The third dish was their Mushroom Ravioli had pasty dough with no seasoning in the mushroom filling. Our waiter David was friendly and engaging. He was the highlight of the evening.

Can't say that I have ever really had a bad time or horrible food at an Olive Garden. The food really is pretty consistent at all of their restaurants. One of the highlights would definitely be the salad and breadsticks. A trip to the Olive Garden would not be complete without it. Some other things I really enjoy is the lasagna fritta for an appetizer, the tour of Italy if you are hungry for an entrée along with the chicken marsala and for dessert you can't forget the zeppoli.

  • Senan D.

The food is pretty much just Olive Garden. It is a chain and they make the food on the menu but the reason for the great score is our server. She was great and made sure we had all we wanted. It was a slow lunchday but still loved her.

Overpriced!!!!!! Short & sweet! Do not fall prey to them. You will pay a high bill for poor quality!!!

My daughter and I had dinner here last night. Great experience all around, which has not always been the case when we've eaten at this restaurant before. The soup and salad were superb, as was the service, and both of our entrees were excellent too. My drink, while good, was spendy (but probably the same price elsewhere)... *sad face*. I'm glad we had such good food and great service here last night.

  • Alex B.

Almost all the time I have good experiences at the Olive Garden. This location is no different. The food is just like it is in any other state and the service is decent. I've had one bad server that may have been new, so I will cut him some slack. He didn't get us drinks for a long time, left his cheese grater on the table (may have not been such a bad thing!), and was kind of rude. Every other time I have been there the servers have been great and the location is clean.

I have not been to an Olive Garden in years. Not that its a bad place, but I just choose to eat at other non-chain restaurants. But, we came here with family, and I forgot how much I like those damn breadsticks and salad. The husband and I split an entree (the seafood bordetto). It was OK. Nothing spectacular, but it was healthy and that is what I wanted. We had great service, and this location was clean. The manager stopped by the table to make sure we were all doing OK, and I always like that, no matter what restaurant I am at!

I am not sure how I feel giving them a 3 star, but I have eaten here enough to know I better be giving my money to at least a 3 star place. They are not my first choice, but I don't fall over and play dead when somebody says, 'hey, let's it the OG'. I had not been to an Olive Garden until about three years ago. Sometimes they are good for lunch or a quick dinner on the way back up the mountain. This last time in, however, I ventured off the spaghetti and onto some odd ball sauce they were pushing, mushroom Alfredo or something close to it, but it could have seriously been paste, zero flavor. I did ask if they could bring me a side of marinara so I could cut it in. Since it was the all you could eat pasta going on, the waitress said she'd trade it out, but I didn't want to waste it, and just lived with it, well half of it. i was done then. The salads are always good and I like having the ranch or italian here on the side, so they don't drown it. Go, enjoy, it is not that bad of a place. Prices are average.

Olive Garden is a secret vice of mine. Yes I realize it's not very Italian, yes I realize that it's not the greatest food.....but I'm a sucker for their soup, salad and bread sticks. Hints for when you have to deal with Olive Garden: 1. Sit in the bar....service is better, drinks come faster and you avoid pesky noisy small children. 2. Taste the wine before getting a glass. I've gotten some nasty weird wines that tasted like grape soda....but I realize that some people might like that. 3. Realize that portion sizes here are gigantic-you will never finish it all...don't even try. So I do enjoy heading here during the winter and having a nice bowl of soup and a glass of wine. If you stick with just that you will be happy.

Excellent service! We are always treated so well here. The food is great, servers are helpful and we are always delighted when we can make a trip to this Olive Garden! Our favorite servers are Megan and Stanley. Megan knew us so well she remembered what our regular orders were (even though our orders are knit-picky) and she would never disappoint. She knew us so well that she could also "surprise" us when we didn't know what to order and we always loved it! Last visit we had Stanley and he was just as amazing! He was super patient and diligent in checking up on us. I would give more stars if I could.

This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life and it wasn't the food that made me sick it was the herd of morbidly obese patrons that we witnessed coming and going throughout the evening. We lost our appetite waiting to be seated. I know this is wrong, but truth can be stranger than fiction.

  • Jason H.

I'm not the kind that says "It's not REAL Italian!" and give the OG a bad rating. I know what it is, but I still eat it. Having said this, this place sucked. Nice people at the door making the wait list, but the niceness ended there. We went to the bar to grab a drink while waiting 30 minutes, and the middle-aged gent was a complete prick. To Everyone. Guests at the bar, people coming up with questions, and even his own staff. Quit being a prick dude. Nobody likes an asshat. Waitress was obviously new, but her section teammate seemed content to just let her drown in the weeds. Tipped her well because she was trying, but seriously, how's about helping a teammate out? Too much other good food in the area to waste time going back to this particular one again.

Always love the OG it was valentines day and expected a rush of madness. Called a table in 20 min before arrival. Got front row parking. Sat for less than 10 minutes before we got our table. ALI was out server and was quick attentive and so sweet. We were expecting long waits and craziness and it was complete opposite!!! Kudos good job OG and kudos Ali you rock!!!!

Oh Dear Olive Garden, tonight thanks to your 25 for 2 deal, I'm yours (so are my husband and son). You will never fail to shock me with your freakishly HUGE salad bowl, never ending warm breadsticks, endless shaved cheese upon request and lovely delish soups..and the appetizer that comes with the meal? Oh MY. Calamari and bruschetta ftw. Problem is by the time our meals arrive, no one can finish..I mean even eat them properly so we have to take them home. And how cool was that to have them box your unfinished dinner in front of you...the sweetness of the server although our son was pretending he was a puppy eating his spaghetti meal (oh gods, so sorry about that, his dad encouraged it!). Next time, we're ordering dessert with this deal.

Worst birthday dinner ever. We ordered 2 shrimp dishes, they were out of that shrimp. Ordered trout, they were out of trout. Then tried to charge us $10 for "free" salad, which was crappy and we didn't eat.

Chicken Alfredo to go was excellent and very quick. I love this place. Even on Friday night's when it's pretty Bussy I haven't had a meal take longer than 15 mins to go.

  • Victoria S.

Waited for ten minutes when there was no one else waiting and you could see open seats.. Waiters and waitresses were just standing in the front.. And on top of that bad service... The lady treated us like we didn't have money because we are young

This place used to be horribly managed. Half the restaurant would be closed off so they would make everyone wait, like it's some hot location for excellent food. Nice try. They would also constantly run out of breadsticks or other items like tomatoes or onions. Hey go across the street to Fredy's or WinCo and get some more veggies. That was not out of the question when I worked for a restaurant. Over the last few years they have really gotten their act together. The food quality and service has vastly improved. Probably still running out of breadsticks, though.

Being from Hawaii, I wanted to go here first to eat when I came to visit a friends in Oregon. I actually ended up coming here again for dinner the last night before I left to go back home as well. Endless soup / salad and breadsticks I was so excited. Got the Zuppa(sp?) soup, it was okay, but dipping the breadsticks in them made it amazing. Second time coming I got the salad. It was a good salad, but the breadsticks weren't as good because there wasn't the soup to dip them in. (I recommend the soup) Main course I had the Spaghetti and Italian Sausage. It was was classing Spaghetti with two pieces of sausage. Pretty big portion, and since the soup and breadsticks was free refills, I could only eat about half of the Spaghetti. The second time I got the smoked mozzarella chicken. I don't like cheese but this dish was not cheesy at all. The chicken was cooked perfectly, nice and soft and moist and the pasta was good. The Penne pasta was a nice touch to make it feel lighter. ( I recommend the Smoked mozzarella chicken) Dessert I had the Limoncello Mousse. It was light and good. I was already full from the salad, breadsticks, and dinner that I didn't even finish the dessert. The lemon taste came out perfectly, not to overwhelming or sour and the crust on the bottom was light and tasty. Also was not a fan of the house red, so got the chianti instead to eat with my meals. (Italian wine with Italian food) Overall, it wasn't the best Italian food I've eaten, but it was good for the price. Also considering the soup and breadsticks are a great combo and unlimited. Probably a good option to just eat soup and breadsticks and take your main course home to eat for another meal.

You know, Olive Garden just isn't my favorite restaurant in the world. I've had plenty of bad experiences at several other locations from a few different states. The biggest problem I usually run into is terrible service, unhappy and moody employees. THIS Olive Garden is amazing. It actually makes me WANT to go eat here. The employees are super friendly, which is a welcome change. They always have smiles on their faces, they wait on customers in a timely-manner (even for the time-consuming endless pasta special). Oh, and the pasta is great, bread is amazing and salad is scrumptious!

Olive Garden is always good, but with service like this location it added a wonderful experience to dinner. They took such good care of my wife and I. It was so fun. We laughed with the waiter and she kept our breadsticks coming!

Look, I know what OG is and I know what it's not, but it's still darn good! We love to eat there with the family for a good, hearty meal at a decent price. The service at this particular location is a little "hit and miss." Our favorite server is Brittany. She is friendly and gives good consistent service, but we have had a couple others who have not been nearly as attentive and it can be frustrating. The manager is great though and got someone right over to us. Who doesn't love, salad, hot bread and pasta? Yum!

What is this world coming to?!?!? Another review from a chain restaurant from myself! As always my belief is these restaurants really don't need a review as the amount of money spent on marketing for these businesses sell themselves. The reason why I am writing a review to you fellow yelpers is because I wanted to share my wonderful experience on my last visit here last Friday evening. I was on my way to my girlfriend's house to help clean her house but I needed to grab a meal as I know once I'm at her house it will be all work and no play! I decided to make my stop over at Olive Garden since they had their All You Can Eat Pasta promotion going on and who doesn't like carbs right? When I go out to eat on my own I usually choose to sit at the bar. I was quickly greeted by my bartender John and was given my drink and utensils shortly after. Within less then two minutes my salad comes out with breadsticks and plateware and he quickly shreds my cheese by my request. I am always a big fan of the salad here and after finishing two bowls of salad my dinner arrives. Once again faster than expected and served with excellent customer service as well. I had a couple servings of pasta and throughout my meal I was regularly checked up on by John. It wasn't that the business was dead as to why I received exceptional service its more John is a true professional in his field. His follow up was above average. His friendliness and courtesy to his customers was top notch. The best part of my experience here was the floor manager took the time to say hello and ask about my meal was even more of a plus for me. Food here I'm not going to say is excellent but I will say is very consistent across the board. You can go into any Olive Garden and experience the same quality of food throughout every location. As for the customer service, I would definitely make a point to drive a little farther to receive this level of service. John, its people like you make the service industry a better place. Thank you for being a part of the Olive Garden team and when you get a chance to come here for dinner and come to the bar and I'll guarantee the same level of service that I received. Happy Eating Everyone!

Last few times we went there it's been pretty good, but tonight when we went there it was awesome. Ask for Stanley to be your server. If he's working it should be one of the better dining experiences you've had. He was extremely genuine and polite. Not like fake polite either but a real gentlemen. Went there with my family and would love to go back.

Still my favorite bread sticks, soup, and salad. I've been to so many different places and yet I still like this place just as much. It's not even really the food that does it for me (even though it's amazing to me), but the staff has almost always been so amazingly friendly and attentive. They're just the type of servers you leave thinking you should come back just to help with their paycheck. I've been to other Olive Gardens and this one is just all around better; the food and staff are significantly higher in standard in every way. I feel as if I can't go to any other olive garden ever again. Price wise, this place is actually the same or cheaper than the other big restaurants around. If you stick to pastas or pizza it's really cheap. Just don't order any drinks and say no to appetizers, then fill up completely on beadsticks and soup. You'll be taking home almost all of your dinner for another meal!

been here quite a few times, food is always very tasty. Of course you know it's spendy for the ingredients. It's not value per sa but it is tasty with great service. One recommendation I'd like to make is the coffee. One of the few places in town to get a plane ole great cup of coffee. It's smooth and they serve you a coffee pot full with your own cup. One cup is never enough for me, I had as much as I liked.

Not a fan of italian so it has to be really amazing to get me to come back. This was just ok. I would not choose to come back, only reason I came at all was to meet with friends.

I loved the Chicken & Gnocchi soup. Oh my gosh, it was amazinggggg. My Raviolli di Portebello was ALRIGHT. Nothin' special. I didn't eat the breadsticks. Their Strawberry Fresco drink is FABULOUS; totally the drink for me. The service was SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW. (That's why I give this location 3 stars.) I thought our server was new because she had to read off of the menu and seemed a little unsure of herself. Come to find out, she was new - she said she had just settled in Oregon for good. I kind of felt like I was discriminated against. Ahahaha. Little, brown-skinned me, got tucked into the back corner. It was dark and lonely seeming. I thought they were closing down because NO ONE was around. When I walked out of the restaurant, I saw that it was actually busy and bustling. And ALL white people were seated in that area. Coincidence? I don't know. Overall? Alright. I've definitely experienced better.

I have to give 5 stars and heres why.....with Olive Garden, I know what to expect. No surprises. And this particular store is remarkabley consistent. The food isn't life changing but it real good! The price is just a bit high for the food quality but the somewhat ambiance makes that up. All in all you know what your getting, and this store delivers just that.

  • Rebekah B.

The food quality and quantity, serving speed, cheerful disposition of the waitress, all were exceptional. Great Calamari, Shrimp Bruschetta, as well as the red wine I ordered (a seasonal blend of raspberry and cherry, dolce). The wine samples are on the house, which made up my mind about the right wine. Delicious! Prices are in the range of $12-16 a meal.

It's good. Not great. Not gross. Just good- good price, good portions, good wine selection- overall averagely good. (I made up the word "averagely" for this review- that's how average they are. I'll go back another 100 times

I have been to this location several times, mostly because visiting friends/family want to try it, against my advice. The food is okay, as you would expect, I always enjoy the soup. The last couple times I have went, we sat at the table for a large amount of time waiting to order, as well as when our food was completed. In all, we expected a quick, good meal out, and it took over two hours total. Serving vanished for a long time, maybe to take a break or something.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
