LOVE Sidelines! Solid spot for food and a good variety of beer. There are plenty of TVs and huge booths. I'm glad this place is getting busier. I recommend the BLT with a side of mashed potatoes. Seriously- the choice of sides makes this place.

We enjoyed appetizers and drinks, and it was a lot of fun. We were there on a quiet Wednesday night, so we enjoyed playing some pool and darts. The atmosphere is nice and the food was very good bar food. They have a great selection of beers on tap, and all in all it exceeded our expectations.

I was excited to try a new place in downtown Eugene but wish we had gone somewhere else. We were looking for somewhere fun to watch the civil war and were pleased with the open space and numerous tv's. However, between the terrible food and poor customer service I don't think I'll be going back any time soon. I'm a fan of bar food, but my nachos were little more than a pile of overly greasy chips with just enough cold cheese to cement it all together. They were topped off with a few pieces of tomato and some tasteless guacamole. My husband's burger was nothing special. Our friend's pulled pork mac and cheese wasn't bad but would have been better if it was actually topped with pulled pork rather than little chunks of pork mixed with bbq sauce. To top it off, our food ended up sitting at the end of the bar for a couple of minutes because nobody knew what table it was supposed to go to, even after we indicated that it was ours. The guy behind the bar (manager?) was not friendly and seemed like he was being inconvenienced anytime someone asked him a question. He didn't once ask if our food was okay or if we needed anything. Fortunately for us, there are plenty of other great places in town to get good atmosphere, good food, and good service.

I had a great experience my first time there, but TERRIBLE service the second time will prevent me from going back. I was completely blown off by the bartender with the chin piercing while he chatted with friends. He refused to come to our table to take our order even though the bar area was clear. Never checked on us after that, I practically had to beg him to pay the tab so we could finally leave. Bummer. The young blonde that served us the first time was super sweet and attentive. Rude bartender dude ruined the place for me completely. .

Love me a good sports bar! Sidelines is one of the newest editions to downtown Eugene. Located in the Barmuda Triangle, I think it's a nice addition to the area. My wife and I came here for a few drinks and to check it out. We really had a great time. We were happy that it wasn't "Bro-fest 2014" (as I'm sure it has the potential to be), and we had the ability to do what we pleased. I have to add that having a few brews and kicking ass in Connect 4 is pretty entertaining. SIdelines is deep and has lots of room. I like the decor and atmosphere here. The bartender who was here was the same guy we used to see at Goodtimes years ago. He's not the typical "let me kiss your ass" for a tip bartender. The price point is really the biggest positive for this place. Drinks are cheap, and they have good happy hour and daily food specials. Don't come here expecting top notch food, you'll just get standard greasy bar food. Which can be good don't get me wrong, i know it hit the spot when i stopped in here to watch a game on their plethora of TV's. I just wouldn't come here when going out for dinner. Getting a solid deal on a tall drink is nice, but the bartender cut me off long before I was out of commission. If I'm out having drinks with friends, I shouldn't have to go elsewhere just to get another drink when the bartender has inaccurately assessed my level of intoxication. Great drinks and music, but poor judgement of inebriation.

Awful experience...just awful. After waiting over an hour for food....we were told they were out of tortilla chips (we ordered nachos). So, we picked something else. We should have left. Another 25 minutes passed...When we decided it was time to give up and told our waitress. She came back with food and told us that it was comped. But, they only brought out half the food! The food that came out was completely cold. The manager came over and was only worried about getting payment for the drinks. He was a complete jerk and acted like we should be thankful that our cold food was free! There was hardly any one in the bar and really no one ordering food. Super bad experience and terrible management. We went elsewhere to eat...finally. Yelpers beware!

I was at the bar for the first time for the MSU @ Oregon game and the service was friendly (with the exception of the manager). The food took a long time to come out (over an hour). We asked several times when the food was going to come out and were told it would just be a few more minutes because there was only one cook. When the food did come out it was good but cold. The manager was not accommodating and argued that they were slammed (there was maybe 35-45 people in the bar). The setup was good lots of games on lots of tv's, just don't go here when it's busy.

I've only been to Sidelines during weekday afternoons and during weekday happy hours, so I've never had to deal with crowds. With that qualifier, I've had nothing but positive experiences at Sidelines. Staff are always attentive and friendly, and there's always a good selection of beer. Tons of free games, from giant battleship, to table shuffleboard, and a massive jenga-style game. Picnic style tables help make it a social experience. Pretty great place for casual hangouts during the weekday, and I'd guess it's a decent spot to watch sports, too.

Okay Yelp reviews contradict my opinion. I don't know the history of the location. I didn't come here for pool, although it would be a great place for this. I didn't come to drink as I was in the middle of a work day, but they definitely have what I want to drink and good specials. I came because I had a groupon and I was hungry. The groupon doesn't work on food specials but came to find out it does on alcohol... WOAH next time I will plan better. So the bartender was the server and he was fantastic... tall guy -- told me his name and I already forgot it -- thats terrible! He was very attentive -- got me some fresh brewed iced tea. Then talked to me about food options. He recommended the pulled pork as it was home made... I took him up on that and got the picnic wrap (pulled pork, cole slaw, lettuce and tomato) sans the lettuce and tomato since there was already slaw on it -- at his recommendation. DEFINITELY a winner. YUM this was fantastic! I ordered a side salad and it was HUGE and filled up the rest of the plate. I got the cajun tots and they were cooked perfectly and a HUGE portion was given. They were yummy and I took over 3/4 of them home! In a little toaster over they were fantastic. I also go the southwest egg rolls because he said that they were like Chili's which is gone now boo.... THEY WERE FANTASTIC. Overall for my $20 groupon I got a TON of food and it was all good -- I don't know what others ate when they said it was bad but dang try some of what I had. Taco tuesdays are a REAL thing here like they are in San Diego ... YES! I will definitely be back! I think it would be a great place to come and watch some sports too!

Tried this place for the first time for some lunch and it was absolutely awful. The food came out really quickly, luckily, but what came out was disgusting. I feel like this place should be a star restaurant for Kitchen Nightmares. My friend and I ordered the Beef Brisket sandwich with Mac n' Cheese. Beef Brisket: first off, the menu said the bun was toasted and hot; the bun we received looked and tasted like they pulled it out of a plastic bag just before serving. The sandwich was cold, stale and tasted (for some reason) like fish. I really doubt they clean their own dishes. The beef was not tender at all. A major disappointment and absolutely no respect for what an actual Beef Brisket sandwich should taste like. Mac n' Cheese: How can a restaurant make a poor Mac n' Cheese? Well, you can find your answer at this place. All they did was boil some noodles and spread some fake cheese on top, then let it sit and get cold, and then they served it to us. Such a disappointment overall and we will never be getting food at this place ever again. I'm sure the drinks and night life are great but for food, do not try it.

We went to Sidelines twice within the same week to watch a couple games; over all experience.....mediocre at best. The first time we went we had excellent service! The bartender always asked how we were doing, if we wanted more to drink, how our food was....very attentive! We thought yeah we'll definitely be back for sure. The second time....2 days later....COMPLETELY different! The bartender (different guy then who we had before) asked for our drinks and brought us NOTHING of what we ordered. Huh?!?! We were pretty surprised seeing as they weren't busy....at all. He came back and we got the right drinks and he took our order we ordered a couple burgers and an order of nachos for the 3 of us. The bartender now became the cook and a new bartender took his place. The new bartender never checked our drinks but rather stayed at the bar talking to the 2 people that were there and every other word from him was the F***bomb! Now I'm no expert but even though it's a bar and the environment is relaxed shouldn't a person still hold some level of professionalism?! We now got our food and somehow our nachos we ordered turned into crunchy tacos!! Again not even close!! I don't know what was going on that night but nothing was right, the food was horrible, and I ended up being VERY sick all through the night into the next day! Sidelines has a cool environment; pool table, darts, shuffle board, even beer pong but don't expect your drinks to be right or your food and expect to be sick afterwards! They need to keep whoever is the bartender on Tuesday nights all through the week because he was great but watch out for the other two!

Today a friend and I stopped in to have a late lunch, around 2:30pm. I had checked their menu online before we left because my friend is gluten-free and I wanted to make sure there were enough choices for her. There was. Yeah!! The problem is this: When we walked in, the music was so loud we thought it was midnight. The lights were dimmed and the place looked and felt so uninviting and unappealing, let alone unappetizing, we had to leave. Maybe you might think about making some changes if you want to have walk-in's actually stay and order instead of immediately walking out.

So as probably many of you know, Sidelines now resides in what was the old decades old John Henry's. I know I was surprised too..But I have to say the renovations are quite a bit nicer than the former John Henry's, but still a magnet for your college aged and post college aged kids. From the huge flat screen tv's, to the life sized Jenga games, and free pool what's not to like? It seems the place to be before going to the place everyone else is at, if that makes any sense. I've been out a few times with my girlfriends and it's a nice spot to grab a drink or two, mingle, run into people you haven't seen in years or just people watch. The drinks are cheap and well poured, and the staff seem pretty cool. I have not yet eaten here but I imagine it's your run of the mill bar food. I should try it sometime....maybe. Anyway's its a huge space, definitely room to mingle in and knock back a few and play some games.

Have I not reviewed Sidelines yet? It's great. Free pool. Great bacon+cheese (blue?) burger. Free foosball. Great beer on tap. Free darts. Great staff. Even free boardgames. Lots of TVs for the football watching members of your party. Plenty of beer on tap for the beer drinkers in your party. I recommend it.

I went once and probably won't be back. The plus with this place is that the service is very quick due to the lack of customers. A great job was done cleaning up the place compared to the previous incarnation, but it just seems like such a waste to put a sports bar in this building in this location. People going downtown don't want a sports bar, that's why on a Friday night every other bar in the triangle has a crowd and this one has maybe a handful of customers. It doesn't seem to make much sense to purchase a bar that was jam-packed several nights a week and then close that down and re-open something that no one wants in downtown and that no one goes to. Maybe it's a secret plot to save on taxes by writing off losses? I don't see this pace lasting, the real estate is too valuable for what it is.

We finally have a good sports bar downtown. Lots of TVs, stuff to do (darts, big jenga, beer pong table too...), beer and pretty good food. Definitely the best place to watch a game if you're downtown

Good happy hour. Good daily specials. Good beer menu. Basic bar food. 75 cent tacos on Tuesday that are very filling and yummy. Nice staff. I miss John Henrys and all their stank, but this place is cool. Lots of TVs if you like sports :) Also, after 7 pm, it tends to turn into a frat house. Beware :)

This place is great, I have been here 6 times so far...my only recommendation is that since cowfish is across the street that perhaps either move sll the games to the front or back and then put s dance floor in. The food is great, the owner is very good at what he does and I would imagine that he would accommodate those with good suggestions because he cares about his customers and his business.

This place has it all except for people and a sign out front. Really nice pool table, shuffleboard, darts, TVs everywhere including personal ones in each booth, a strong tap list (a dozen maybe, mostly local/micro), and from everything I've tasted, very good bar food. All reasonably priced--pints were $3.50 apiece under the "happy hour runs til 9pm" special they were doing the last time I was in. The spinach dip was good and came with fried pita slices, and the owner gave us extra dip on the house when he saw that we were running low. Service has been consistently great, but like the other reviewer mentioned, there have never been more than two dozen people in the whole place when I've been there. It's only eight weeks old and clearly hasn't caught on yet. I hope it does and I hope a sports bar can prosper in this location. It has literally everything I could ask for in one.

Beware :)

Rude bartender dude ruined the place for me completely. .

Not very impressed with the drink I ordered and the atmosphere was too crowded and loud. The games were fun but that's about it.

Love me a good sports bar! Sidelines is one of the newest editions to downtown Eugene. Located in the Barmuda Triangle, I think it's a nice addition to the area. Just updated my review. .. Added another star...management has chilled and are much friendlier. Bri and Whitney are the absolute BEST. No attitude, great tenders and friendly.

Both bar tenders that were very prompt and friendly. They seemed to have good report with their regulars as well as striking up conversation with a new guy like me. So the wrap on Sidelines is that its a great place to grab a beer and some grab to watch a game with the guys, just don't make this a place for you Friday night date.

As I purchased a drink at this location someone within the establishment scanned and compromised my bank card. Fraudulent charges were instantly attempted to post to my account and my bank noticed them and canceled the card completely. This is not the first time I have had issues with billing at this establishment. Myself and others have been over charged, double charged, and we have been met with resistance when disputing these charges with the establishment.

I'm sad that John Henry's is gone, but the giant Jenga is pretty cool, their $4 drinks for ladies night on Saturdays is awesome and if you like fish & chips, Sidelines' are .com!

(4)Georgina S.

It seems like its always happy hour at sidelines! They also have daily specials and the food is quite good. I've gone every thursday and monday for a month now and there's always room at the bar. They have pool tables, darts, shuffle board, and tons of tv's. This is my go-to-spot!

(1)Sarah S.

This place is great, I have been here 6 times so far...my only recommendation is that since cowfish is across the street that perhaps either move sll the games to the front or back and then put s dance floor in. Seriously though, charcoal drawings would really rock this place! The food is great, the owner is very good at what he does and I would imagine that he would accommodate those with good suggestions because he cares about his customers and his business.

Beware :)
