Yeah, I know, I have no business eating in a place like this. If Newman's would offer a formal restaurant with dim lighting and some boozy drinks, these guys would have no chance. However, I have a handicap: this was the only place I liked that wasn't too adventurous for my grandparents, so it became my default birthday dinner venue during my formative years in the midwest. Nostalgia's got some deep hooks, as do those gorram cheddar biscuits. Alas, our last was an absolutely abysmal experience. To start, the waiter delivered a five-minute monologue and asked rude, personal questions. We just wanted him to go the eff away so we could look at the menu already and get down to the business of, you know, eating. I shouldn't have been so eager. My shrimp was overcooked and mushy. The scallops were utterly flavorless. The lemon garlic butter sauce was unbearably salty. Waiter continued to be needlessly intrusive throughout the meal and made me wish I'd worn a teashirt bearing the Strunk 'n' White dictum "Omit needless words." Never again.

Stopped in here for dinner on our way back from McMinnville to Bend. We were both craving clam chowder and we have McGrath's in Bend, so why not Red Lobster? It's been awhile since we've frequented one. At least a couple years ago. Way before I started Yelping and even longer since I've started to acquire a taste for really good food. Still, I wasn't expecting a five star establishment. But I was disappointed in how corporate this appeared to be. I didn't remember it that way from years ago. We arrived around 5pm on a Friday night. Parking lot was filling up, but we were greeted at the door by two very happy and smiling teenagers and then a hostess who sat us right away. No waiting whatsoever. She led us back thru the restaurant and I could see it was already filling up and diners looked to be enjoying themselves. Food on the tables, smiles, laughing. You get the idea. Nothing worse than passing a bunch of tables with no food (meals or appetizers) and people looking very glum. That is a bad sign. We were seated at a table for six (with only the two of us) and a large party....10 or 12 next to us. An elderly couple celebrating their anniversary on the other side of us were tucked into a cozy little booth. Service and wait staff were very prompt and friendly. Our waitress even announced, "We are a team here. So if you need anything, don't be shy to flag any one of us down!" Didn't even know we were coinciding our visit with "Lobsterfest". Cool. I love lobster, my wife doesn't. SCORE! Problem was, as I surveyed the menu specials, there were lots of options with a pasta dish or some baked creamy thing......I can't remember what all the choices were but what I could have really gone for was some surf and turf with a rock lobster tail and the sweet split Maine tail. That wasn't a choice. Maybe I should have asked. As it turns out, I chose a selection that offered the two tails and then some Alfredo pasta with lobster and shrimp. Side of fresh broccoli and a dinner salad. Wife went for some shrimp platter that turned out having the exact same pasta (sans lobster), a mini plate of shrimp scampi loaded with garlic and butter (I thought it was yummy) and then some breaded shrimp. She loved the pasta, frowned at the scampi (too garlicky) and was meh about the breaded guys. I would have to agree they were pretty tasteless. Not even remotely crunchy for the breading. Wife had Caesar salad straight from the bag. Mine was no different with a ladle of blue cheese, two slices of cucumber, four slices of tomato with a couple croutons tossed on top. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I didn't finish my salad. I picked at a few pieces and pushed it aside. Even drenched in my favorite dressing....blue cheese...couldn't get me past the disillusionment. We had one basket of the infamous cheddar scone things. Greasy little buggers that are pretty tasty. And we shared a cup of clam chowder. IT was kind of weak. Downright watery. This was NOT a healthy meal by any means. My lobster was good. I've not had it very often so I enjoyed comparing the tastes and preparation difference between the two. I enjoyed the Maine one more and ended up dipping the sliced up rock tail in the garlic butter from my wife's scampi. I barely touched the pasta. But as I said, my wife loved hers and it was essentially the same thing. We succumbed to the molten cookie dessert. This was the best part of the meal. We've all seen those lava cakes. Well this was like one of those but a Toll House Cookie with chocolate lava in the center. Topped with ice cream. It was VERY TASTY!!! On a side note, I noticed that when a table was cleared, they sprayed everything down with disinfectant rather than just using a wet sponge or towel. My wife commented that she thought the place was very clean. I would have to agree. A lot of staff was on duty. Maybe ready for the Friday night crowd? They were definitely working as a team while we were there. So why only two stars? Because that is really all it garners. Not great. Not even THAT good. Aside from that yummy lava cookie, I doubt you'd see me inclined to come here again. For the same type of meal, atmosphere and price....I'd probably frequent McGraths. Better clam chowder and I actually prefer fresh sourdough to those greasy cheddar scones.

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary and were pretty disappointed. 75% of our time in the restaurant was spent sitting and wondering if our waitress was ever going to show up. When we finally got our food, it was cold and my boyfriend's dish wasn't what he ordered (in fact, it wasn't on the menu at all). When we politely tried to straighten things out with the waitress she got huffy and told us to talk to her manager. On top of that we received the wrong drinks not once but twice, and they were "out" of their famous cheddar garlic biscuits. Not cool! I will say that our visit was pretty soon after they opened so it's possible they've gotten their act together since then, but I don't think we'll be going back.

To be honest, I thought the food was awesome. My girlfriend and I usually rack our brains on where we should eat. Red Lobster was a great choice tonight. There was a half an hour wait, but we just went to Ross. We showed up and got our table. The food was great. It was really tasty and I will recommend it to friends.

Had to go to reminisce, it was another journey into the ordinary. Same decent food and usual service level, haven't been to a Red Lobster for a couple of years. The last 2 that I went to were on Locust St in Tigard and the Lancaster location in Salem. This Red Lobster has a little different layout, there seems to be a little more room between the tables. The bar seemed a little cramped, as we had to wait for a table there. The only question that I have is, where does Red Lobster get the smallest cold water lobster tails in the world? I have seen jumbo prawns bigger than the 2 coldwater tails that I got with my order. But, the price was fairly low, so I shouldn't complain. All in all, not bad not great. Just average. If you go, prepare to be dazzled with the ordinary, and not much else.

Damn, how did I get here? The same as everyone else. Advertisement and marketing. So I'm waiting in the lobby for a table on a Wednesday night. Damn you marketing! The worst part is I know the food will be good and the server will be friendly and my out of town family and I will have a good time and a good meal. All ended up being true. It is so hard to be a hater, but then again it's not.

Hit and miss but more often than not and solid dining experience. Love the bar, its a good place to chill.

Stopped in for dinner tonight. I'm always reluctant to write a review on a chain restaurant because in theory they should all be the same anywhere you go. I got a special 4 course deal which included a soup, salad, dinner and dessert. The clam chowder wasn't amazing, but perfectly edible. The free lobster biscuits were also warm and fresh and pretty tasty. The caesar salad was a total bust though. It had obviously been made hours before and put into a VERY cold refrigerator as the lettuce was quite wilted, brown and devoid of taste. The dinner of shrimp scampi was pretty good as was the dessert. I also got a cocktail for $7 which was also fine. Service was okay, but nothing to remember the next day to want me to come back anytime soon.

Best time we had here! Waiter, Jason, and other waiters were very helpful & friendly. My daughter in law was busy with her baby so waiter took the time to take out the crab meat from the shell so daughter in law could eat with one hand. Also waiter took our last order for a take out Thank you RL!!!

Those biscuits... I better go check my blood sugar afterwards. Yep....it's insulin shot time followed by a 50 mile run. Need i say more?

Ok I love this place, John is a great bar/server when we go to this town we eat here. It is close to the mall and Eugene so you can shop and eat. Lobster tails grilled, order the extra pour in your drink if you get one from the bar, it's basically a double for cheaper. Shrimp scampi ROCKS! We sit in the bar at a table the first one on the left when you walk in. Good staff and clean bathrooms

Took my Mom here for her birthday and had a great time! Good food, good service, and they sang to Mom which she greatly enjoyed.

I set foot in a red lobster, just this once, due to a free gift card and a temporary laps in judgment. I do not understand why anyone would ever go here when Eugene has so many delicious non-chain restaurants. Service was ok and the place was very clean in that we-have-a-regulation-checklist-of-cleaning-we-must-complete-while-supervised sort of a way. The food though... Not a fan. I had heard of these mythical cheddar biscuits for years, but to be honest, they were kind of chalky and totally lacking in all things cheddar flavored. It makes me wonder if what must have been a biscuit mix was simply not prepared right. I hope so, otherwise Americans are kidding themselves if they think that that is a. food and b. good. The coconut shrimp was like eating little erasers coated in pure sugar with a bit of added artificial sweetener. The entire dish was very reminiscent of Louis C.K.'s description of Cinnabon icing. All in all, pretty awful. I would suggest you go nearly anywhere else.

Came here because we got a gift card. We sat in the bar and had great service. Ordered the 4 course meal and everything was delicious. My husband and I both had plenty of food, and the biscuits were so good. Dinner can get very spendy here quickly depending on what you order, but the meal deal was great. It included soup and salad, an entree, and dessert. The environment is quiet, warm and romantic, and my husband and I had a good time. This is a pretty safe go-to place if you want a nicer dinner.

Ok- so it's Red Lobster. If you come here you know what to expect. Endless shrimp season brings me back every time. Great food, reasonable prices- biscuits that you can't beat. Also- 5 Star friendly service from Cassie! Sit in her section and you won't regret it. Friendly and efficient. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the kids portion Mac n cheese was not nearly enough food. The chicken strips worked for my 8 year old but my 4 year old left hungry!

I really want James L. to write this review for me. I had a bad experience and I just KNOW he could write a funny yet biting review. The main problem: The waiter gloved up and mauled my crab! I did not need help, at 40+ I am experienced in the way of crab cracking. I was stunned into silence and my husband's chin plunked against the table top. Never have I experienced such audacity by waitstaff. The other problems: Dirty seats, a deep fried label in our calamari, under cooked broccoli, and a perpetually empty water glass. The decor is nice, the lighting is relaxing, and the restroom is clean.

We've been trying to have a night out for a while now. After a few hours of pool and drinks we wondered over to Red Lobster. Apparently the rush is mainly from 5:30pm to about 8:30pm. We got here around 9:30 and were seated right away. During the rush you can expect a wait of 30 minutes. They don't do reservations, and they wont allow you to call ahead and put your name on the list. First person, first serve. I have to admit, I was tanked. I couldn't quite remember what I ate until the next day when I found the receipt. My wife and I both had the special which was Grilled Lobster and Shrimp with mashed potatoes and cheddar biscuits. Now, it's true...I was hammered, yet I remember eating my food and thinking, wow! This isn't rubber like the last time we ate at a Red Lobster. The cheddar biscuits were awesome, the taters weren't all that bad either. Perhaps it was the whisky that allowed the food to be a touch more palatable, but none the less....it was enjoyed. My wife remembers a lot more than I do, and she loved dinner. She wants to go back in a few weeks in fact. It was $19.99 for the dinners, making a $40.00 bill in total. We were happy with what we had and even took extra cheddar biscuits home with us for the next day. Which I devoured. we'll give her another shot

So we sat for 15 minutes with our menus closed and our phones out while the waiter helped everyone but us so we just sat and waited we waited so long we almost got up and left, we didn't even have biscuits yet...

How the fuck do you make shrimp scampi taste so bland? How do you recreate a dish swimming in butter and garlic and make it taste like unseasoned, boiled shrimp? Are you trying to bore the shit out of me? I wanted to like you Red Lobster, I did. It pisses off my foodie friends when I gush about a chain restaurant's horse shit such as yours. I had to try the Endless Shrimp special because I worked at Sizzler in college ( yelp.com/biz/sizzler-spr… ). Back then, we sold Steak & All You Can Eat Shrimp, or Steak & Aychie shrimp as we called it behind the counter. They've since softened the name to "All You Care to Eat Shrimp" when in fact it should be called "All the Deep-Fried Shrimp You Can Stuff Into Your Fat American Mouth". But I digress. Let me tell you about the shrimp dishes at Red Lobster. I ordered two more after the first two sucked. Hand-Breaded Shrimp: without flavor, served without lemon Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp: well-cooked and slathered in a banal sauce that has never heard of Asia Shrimp Linguini Alfredo: pasta cooked a little under al dente (fine with me), decent little shrimp, and a sauce straight out of a Noodle Roni sauce pouch. Garlic Shrimp Scampi: I don't think they even use real butter on this one, which is nuts considering many dinners run $25. And no flavor. Can't you salt it and add some fucking garlic to my Scampi? Service was warm and genuine in both the bar and dining room. Other than that, you suck Red Lobster.

Fairly good food though a bit expensive if you don't get the running specials. Got a shrimp deal for 15 bucks and it was fresh and delicious.

We went here for the first time for an anniversary dinner as we were in the mood for seafood. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated. We were greeted and seated quickly at 6:30 pm on a Tuesday. We tried their Crab dip for an appetizer, their Crab Lover's Trio and Lobster bowl. Fresh Cheddar biscuits were brought out promptly, and while I am not a fan of biscuits, when they are hot and fresh out of the oven, I found them tender and decently flavorful. The dinner salad that came with the meal was rather small, and made with iceberg lettuce, which I find to be lacking in color and flavor (I wish they would use romaine at least!), with small cubed cucumbers, tomatoes, and usual croutons. If you are not a fan of cucumbers, that is not the way to go! My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad, which had large shavings of Parmesan. One of the crab options on my trio was extremely salty. The crab legs were tasty, and I enjoyed the overall assortment. When I'm in the mood for crab, yes, I would come here again. Our waitress, Brandi, was very attentive, telling us how many minutes until the next hot basket of biscuits were coming out of the oven.

Awful food. The first time ever I've sent a dish back. The next one was better but still not good. The first was the lobster topped shrimp. The shrimp was so salty, it was inedible. And the listed hollandaise sauce was a thin broth. The next was crab fettucini. Thin sauce and also too salty. The waitress was not super friendly but pleasant about the returned dish. It was my first time at RL and I'll never return.

Marginal seafood, typical chain food. Took my daughter there for her birthday because she wanted to try lobster. Server looked like she had a crack problem and completely ignored us for the duration of our meal. I ordered a second drink when our food was served and I was told rudely by my server " can you give me a minute?". I never saw the drink and considering they don't provide water, I ate my meal without a drink of anything. The deep fried vegetables were raw, which they refunded, but not after arguing with us that 'that is how it is served... " (cold and raw?). When it was time to settle, the server said she is getting a manager to come up and discuss the issues. Needless to say I was completely turned off at that point and had the family go to the car so I could get the check. The manager came and wanted to discuss the issue. I said " just get me my check and I will leave and write this off". He said " No I want to talk about this". I said "give me my "f"ing check". He said, " you don't need to use that kind of language". I said, "Evidently I do". You get the idea... So, over priced, marginal quality, piss poor management and my server sucked.

This is a surprisingly good Red Lobster. I've been to two other ones in my life, and while I enjoyed the others, the decor was a little tacky and outdated there. This one in Eugene is only a year old and the interior is beautiful. Sophisticated, warm, upscale! The food was good, like at most Red Lobsters. We had some delicious seafood stuffed mushrooms (could've been a little less greays perhaps), awesome Red Lobster biscuits of course, and then we had the Seafood Linguini (great, nice tender and well cooked pasta, large seafood chunks) and a combo of Coconut Shrimp Bites and Potato Battered Shrimp. Both were excellent. The coconut shrimp sauce is a bit sweet, but you only need a tiny bit of it, since the shrimp are juicy and flavorful on their own. The potato battered shrimp were something new for me, and they looked like regular fried shrimp, but when you taste them you really notice the rich, comfort-food flavor of the potatoes. What a fantastic combination! Service was outstanding, the lady who helped us was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Definitely the best Red Lobster I've visited.

My experience here was decent, if not good, if not great. I was surprised that I liked the Red Lobster so much. I like the biscuits. I tend to like shrimp and I ordered one of the seasonal specials. I've always been hesitant of going to Red Lobster because it's a commercial restaurant and it doesn't have that genuine feel to it. Despite that, I got over it and found that the food was pretty darn good. Probably better than most smaller joints in town that prize themselves on organic, sustainable, local, etc etc. The service was good, but the wait time sucked! If you're patient and don't mind waiting to get seated then waiting some more for your food, then this is the place for you. The seafood prices are steep too, but the food is of decent quality.

I would actually give it a 3.5. It was my first time dining at Red Lobster. The wait wasn't too bad but I purposely went on an off time because I've seen the lines and the full parking lot plenty of times. My friend and I ordered a lot of food: jambalaya, lobster tail, garlic shrimp scampi, shrimp alfredo, stuffed mushrooms, and an ice cream-cookie dessert (we kind of felt like splurging after a long week). Everything was tasty and came out after a reasonable time. Some of our food, however, was salty and everything was seasoned even the boiled broccoli. I was pretty impressed with the decor on the inside and it looked like they wanted to bring a nice warm feeling to the restaurant. The servers were quite attentive and nice. Our server even brought out extra biscuits so that each person had some to take home. I will probably visit again, but during a non-typical meal time.

My husband and I went here for our 3 year wedding anniversary yesterday and I was a little hesitant BUT I am very glad we went. The food was what I expected (good, but not the best seafood I've ever had, Im from Alaska so..) but what made me give this place such a good review was the waitress we had, Jennifer. She was extremely sweet and helpful and even wrote "Happy 3 year anniversary" on just about anything she could. Made me happy that she actually paid attention to her customers. the atmosphere was also nice, location not too bad and parking was perfect. Overall, I am a fan..Might not be able to afford it as much as I would like but I will visit again someday.

Wow! I just went here Saturday night and was totally impressed. Two of us were seated and our "Seafood Expert", Jen B., was awesome. She grabbed our drinks and appetizers right away and was super friendly. I'm not the biggest seafood fan but we had a gift card so I went for the peppercorn steak and shrimp combo. So delicious! I also had a salad with some kind of red wine vinegar dressing, that was awesome too. I discovered that a Boston Iced Tea is black iced tea with cranberry juice and an orange slice, super good! At the end of the meal, we were going to take the last cheesy biscuit in our doggy bag. Jen ended up bringing us a fresh batch of them! We were very impressed, she was excellent! All in all a great place, even on a busy evening, service was fast and friendly. Clean bathrooms, clean tables/seating area. Will be sure to return!

Went for the first time on the occasion of my son's 21st birthday. Four of us, me, wife, son, girlfriend. We had a good time. Waitress was very helpful and friendly. The biscuits were good but not enough of a reason to come back. Ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and those were certainly tasty. Followed with 12 raw oysters. They were fresh but the cocktail sauce was nothing special. Overall a fun time but not exceptional. A safe choice.

This is a third review, and unlike the others this one is much better as the server is making it much better. Unlike other times when it felt as though we were a burden to all involved, this time our server Mike made it a much more pleasurable experience. The food is descent even though you are still not allowed to mix and match. Oh well.

First time visiting a Red Lobster, and only the second time I've ever had lobster in my life. And I just have to say.. I don't get the hype behind lobster.. Sure, it tastes good... But at such a high price point for something that's expected to be dipped in butter I'd rather just eat shrimp... Anyways, ordered the dueling lobster tails and I just wasn't impressed, I was expecting a crab and shrimp stuffing on one of them but there was just a light dusting of something that was mainly glued to the lobster shell so I couldn't really taste it without bites of crunchy shell mixed in.. The other lobster had shrimp in a cream sauce which was the clear winner of the duel. The mashed potatoes were really good, and I wish they gave you more, but they add a pound of too crunchy green beans on top of them instead.. So in total, it was an okay tasting meal, but I think I'll save my $80 (2 lobster fest entrees and 1 drink) for 9 meals of shrimp and chips from Newman's...

We drove 75 miles to enjoy some seafood. After we sat down, three wait staff walked by and said they would be right there. After about five minutes we finally ordered our drinks we waited about 10 more minutes and still haven't received our drinks and no one had stopped by to take our order. We decided to wait one more minute and still nothing. If we were about to spend about 60 dollars for a two person dinner, we would expect better service. The wait staff was helping the table behind us and across, every table except ours. Really disappointing.

This was a bad experience! Never had lobster, never been to a red lobster. I went with a big group. We waited an extremely long time for drinks, ordering, and extra long for our checks, we asked three times to get them. Worst of all the lobster was not good. Others in the group said it tasted old. Never going back for this over priced food and poor service!!

Went with a party of 8. Everyone loved their food! No complaints. I had coconut shrimp which was so huge, couldn't finish. The hubs had shrimp alfredo, he also could not finish. The biscuits were way better than I remember. They were AMAZING!! We had the sweetest waitress, Nnika (I think that was her name). She was awesome. Only complaint was we had to WAIT. When they were not that busy. We could see many big tables empty but dirty. Finally the manager cleaned one herself and after waiting about 1/2 hour came and sat us with many apologies. Other than that things were great! So 4 stars for that, because that was annoying.

Wait staff has been trained to behave professionally, but did a poor job of bringing water refills, and forgot to bring ordered items. Food is decent, but overpriced. Restaurant was FREEZING cold! My daughters and I didn't want to take our winter costs off while eating, which is ridiculous. Overall, we were dissatisfied.

  • Rachael S.

I really wanted to hate it but I couldn't. The prices were reasonable for what we got and the food was good. The items that were fried seemed a bit greasier than normal. The service was almost too friendly and over the top, but that's how they train people. The wait was long but the food came out quickly and at the correct temperature. We will probably go a few times a year for a safe, reliable meal

I have a VERY restricted diet due to allergies & LOVE that I can come here and NOT worry. They'll make your food as "clean" as you want it, the service is FABULOUS.... I've only gone there for lunch though, so I can't speak to any issues regarding dinner service. Lunch is quick & YUMMY!

We went as a family last Wednesday evening. We had 6 adults and 3 children. The wait was short, relatively speaking. 15-20 minutes. We had a wonderful staff to wait on us, actually had two doing it. The food was great! We had several 4 course meals for the $15 that is going on right now. My wife and one daughter shared one, and for them it was a perfect size portion. The pasta I had was very good, clam chowder and nice dinner salad with key lime pie for dessert. A wonderful meal at a good price. All of the family had plenty and all enjoyed......

My wife and I have been to this restaurant several times and she loves it. The service is excellent, the atmosphere nice, and the food great, if you like shrimp. If you like other kinds of seafood, not so much. It astonishes me that a restaurant located in the midst of several hundred wineries doesn't have a single local or regional wine on its list. It also amazes me that a restaurant a few miles from the Pacific Coast doesn't have Dungeness crab -- or much else that appears in our local waters. You'd think all the decisions about the menu were being made in Florida or somewhere. Oh, yeah ...

    (2)
  • Bill D.

Would have to agree with other Two Star reviewers on this one. Order off the regular menu, not the fresh fish of the day (very spendy for what you get), and I felt like I crashed something close to a nursing-home-faire. The bay scallops and shrimp were rubbery and you felt like they were prepared food and more than likely farm raised. I hate to say it, but my bay scallops and shrimp are better. The stuffed sole was OK, but way too much of the stuffing. Getting back to the fresh fish menu, one could pay about the same price at Scoma's in San Francisco for what they were charging. Hey, this is Eugene and if you can see out the windows, the only view is of the elegant intersection with cars flying by. If you are going to charge those kind of prices, there better be a good reason like the food or view or something. The chowder, fyi, had a Snows-like taste to it and the cost for a bowl (a cup size just about anywhere else, but hey, if you put it in a big bowl....), was out of line. More spuds than clams by FAR. Service was OK, not the fastest. I did like the decor of the place but waiting 30 minutes to get seated.....For this?? I think next time I will go elsewhere for seafood.
