After living in the barren bakery-wasteland of Texas for most of the last decade, I can't emphasize how happy I am to be back in a city with a GH. Their bread is divine. Our favorite is the Dakota, baked Mondays and Wednesdays. Totally worth the $7.25. It is the heaviest loaf of bread you have ever lifted. A close runner-up is Cascade Crunch which is chock-full of nuts and dried fruit. Be sure to check their schedule at the eugenebread.com website so you know what is freshly baked. The owner served me last time I went and he was friendly and helpful.

Today I had an amazing veggie and cheese sandwich on their fabulous bread. I got to choose exactly what I wanted on the sandwich. The two women working there at 2 pm were very helpful and kind. I got a sandwich, chips and drink for under $10. We love Great Harvest in Portland, and I'm happy to know they're in Eugene as well.

I recently discovered how absolutely wonderful Great Harvest Bakery bread is! The bread is made with organic whole wheat that they mill right in the bakery!! They also use honey and molasses to sweeten the bread. I'm so happy to have found a place that makes such wholesome bread I can feed my toddler. My son especially loves the cinnamon raisin walnut bread and the Great Harvest scone, which is packed full of all the good stuff- dates, raisins, walnuts, molasses, spelt and more. I love this place!

Great Harvest Bread not only has delicious, wonderful, freshly baked bread, but they also have a wonderful and friendly staff. Sandwiches are very good and hearty. Our favorites were the California Cobb and the Pepper Bleu Roast Beef. The new owners, Jess and Gordo, are so friendly and excited to be here in Eugene! What a great bakery. My boys loved the cinnamon rolls and cookies!! All of their breads and treats make great gifts too!! They are happy to let you sample all of their bakes!!! We are taking several loaves to bring home to Gold Beach!!!

I had a coupon so stopped by for my very first visit. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful and the bread and goodies to die for. I brought home the honey wheat and cinnamon chip breads and loved, loved; loved them both. What a fun treat, and one I will come back for again!

I used to go here frequently but haven't been by for years because I was watching my weight. In a weak moment I went by for what I remembered as one of the best cinnamon rolls in town. Wha..?! They 'only make them on Fridays'?!! Since when?! That's awfully silly. Then I asked for the cinnamon and walnut bread and they were sold out. When I was disappointed the service guy said, "I don't know what to tell ya." What a tool. I won't be going back.

This place does it right; all the way around. I love the samples; which always sucked me into more than I thought I was getting. The price range for a loaf is $6 but I know it's got all the good stuff in it. Our favorite; spinach feta; honey whole wheat, sunflower and for a rare treat, cinnamon chip. Early weekend you can get duck food for the pond :)

I was one those slackers running into Great Harvest to use an almost expired Living Social the other day. Apparently they were slammed by other procrastinators and had little for sale at noon on a Saturday. More disappointing than their lack of hippie bread selection, they apparently don't make sandwiches on the weekends, which is what I'd come for. Great Harvest bread is healthy, and jam packed with goodness like spelt and nuts. And, IMHO, totally bland hippie fare. I'd prefer a crusty loaf that puts up a fight, but that's really not their thing. Instead, I settled on some expensive granola. It's pretty good, full of nuts and dried fruits but I wouldn't pay $8.50 for it again. Especially when it doesn't even list the ingredients or nutritional content. Because I'm not really eating granola for fun. I also got a scone, which was not like other scones. This one was, surprise - another sort of heavy hippie deal, dark with molases and flecked with seeds and stuff. Not bad, but not what I'll take with my tea and crumpets.
