Funky little inn with a fantastic innkeeper My son and I stayed here last night. David, the owner, is a very gracious host. Easy to book a room. We stayed in the NY room, 2 twins with a shared bath. Room was small, but well put together. Had everything that we needed. The beds were comfy, and the drapes actually block the light. The breakfast is really to die for. Seriously the nicest breakfast we have had in a very long time. I had told David that we were both gluten free and at breakfast there were so many gluten free options it was amazing. He had made fresh baked GF scones with blackberries, blueberries, and cream cheese. He was also prepared to make some kind of hash for us in lieu of the beautiful quiches. Super generous and attentive. I don't know how he could possibly have the time to attend to his guests and do the cooking as well as he does. He must not sleep. :) It would be quite the challenge to fill his shoes!! Bend is very lucky to have him. Everything here is super clean and well taken care of. All of the little details really make this a special place.Great location close to everything in downtown Bend. Only wish that we would have had time to use the hot tub! My only gripe is that the walls are thin, which isn't such a big deal except that the guests on the other side of the wall had their iphone messaging tone going off regularly and loudly. Seriously?

We spent the weekend in the River Wild Suite. It is so beautiful and cozy. The mattress and pillows are a dream. Every morning we enjoyed the decadent breakfast made from scratch and love. The owners were so sweet and cooked us vegetarian quiche that we requested when booking the room. They were to die for. The breakfast was elaborate and designed to keep your waste trim or fat. We opted for fat! The bathroom was recently redone it was incredible. Best shower/tub I've ever enjoyed! They have shampoo and soap for your stay, they smelt amazing. I would suggest asking about conditioner, I had brought my own. They also had a blow dryer in my room, per my request. The vibe is young and welcoming. This would be an amazing place to rent out all ten rooms with family and friends for a reunion or birthday. We will be coming back next year! PS. I noticed in other reviews people mentioned noise. It's a bed and breakfast, it's in a house. You will hear a few noises but it's nothing that would wake you up. The people who stayed there were very respectful we hardly heard a peep!

This was the place a friend and I landed on my birthday during a wild west coast adventure. It was our favorite of all the places we stayed ranging from Seattle to San Fransisco. The breakfast was fantastic, the hot tub was fun and the whole place was charming!

A Haiku Review of Mill Inn: Awesome -- for the price. Super clean and comfortable. Could hear our neighbors...

Food = 5 (great breakfast) Price = 5 (79.00 walkup) Experience = 5 (the owner is so nice and relaxed... it was a pleasure) I'd will stay here again!!! A great experience. Great breakfast... Loved this spot.

Know what you're getting. It's not the Four Seasons - but I'd rather stay here anyway for the location, character, and friendly staff. Rooms are somewhat small but very clean and most share a bath though we never had to wait during our no-vacancy weekend stay. Location is excellent - walk to shops, breweries, the river trail. Value is outstanding - great breakfast included. The scones may be the best I've ever had. David - who runs the B&B - was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Really going above and beyond expectations when helping us with bike rental logistics. If you're looking for a little more space try the cottage which is a 1/2 mile away but still a pleasant walk to town - and it's next door to Boneyard Brewery - good ale. We'll definitely be back.

This is our absolutely favorite place to stay in Bend, OR. We've stayed twice now, and everything is great. David and his staff are super helpful. We love the laid back atmosphere! The location is awesome, right between downtown and the Old Mill District. The price is great. We're not super high-maintenance travelers, so we don't need much. I love that the price is set at a point that we can be repeat visitors several times throughout the year. The breakfast is awesome. We had quiche, bacon, ham, sausage, cereal, toast, scones. Oh man. I'm probably missing a lot. For us, the Mill INN is as good as it gets. Great breakfast, comfy rooms, great staff, and the right price. We'll be back. Thanks again David!

Superb. Great place. Eclectic and charming. Clean and attentive. David and Zane were like the cool uncles who you want to stay with at Christmas. Thank you fellas!! We will be back again soon!

The bf and I just checked out of The Mill Inn and we had a FANTASTIC stay. After reading all of the reviews and looking at all of the pictures online, we decided to go with the New York suite w/ a private bathroom. The first night, there was only one other couple staying at the inn so not a huge deal if you pick an option with a shared bath. The inn completely filled up over the weekend so the private bath came in very handy! The hot tub in the back is nice, even on chilly days. We climbed in and warmed up and by the time we got out, the air no longer felt nippy. Free wifi is a huge plus - since we didn't plan we used it every night to figure out the next day's activity line-up. Everyone has already mentioned this but David, the owner, cooks a MEAN breakfast. The first morning we woke up to an array of salmon quiche, eggs made-to-order, belgian waffles, fresh fruit, different types of delicious bread (the blueberry streudel was my favorite), fresh orange juice, coffee/tea, yogurt, granola, oatmeal, cereal, and the absolute highlight.......FRESHLY BAKED SCONES!!!!! I must have eaten a dozen scones during my stay - they are AMAZING and David always offered us little ziploc baggies to take them as snacks for our hike. Seriously, they're perfectly soft, not-to-sweet, slightly salty, rich, delicious, buttermilk-y GOODNESS! Since David is a local, he has plenty of great knowledge of the entire Bend and surrounding areas. When we mentioned we wanted to go to the Lava River Cave, David grabbed a flashlight to lend us so we wouldn't have to go purchase them! Honestly, the room is a bit loud since it's next to the main street but I always travel with a pair of earplugs so not a huge biggie for me. So many things about this place make it a solid 4 star option but David's hospitality really puts it over-the-top. FIVE STARS for The Mill Inn! We will be staying here again!

3 nights in early October and really enjoyed the stay. When I'm at a B & B I judge two things the B and the B. The first B was a little too soft on the mattress front and didn't have enough pillow. Can't please everyone I hear you say!! The second B was out of this world. If you want a real breakfast to set up up for the day then this is the place for you. All fresh and in quantity you'll have no complaints on this B. Located nicely between the Old Mill District and DownTown it's a 10 minute walk to both which is perfect for sampling all that Bend has to offer.

Awesome. Breakfast was as expected from former reviews- SUPER DELICIOUS!! Bed was coma inducing and room was clean and accommodating. Location is ideal- next to numerous local hangouts. We rented a little stylish suite and felt pampered. The staff was super nice and went above and beyond the call of duty, and went so far as to ship an item I left behind. We will return, enthusiastically, on our next trip to beautiful Bend.

My husband and I just got back from a four-day/three-night stay in Bend for the July 4th Holiday. First, it's not the most glamorous place - it's a B&B in a mountain town. We shared a bathroom. The pillows were kind of thin. But Dave, the owner (and his staff), were just great. We had gotten in late, and noticed that he was prepping breakfast in the kitchen. My husband walked to him, asked him for recommendations on local breweries, asked for the quickest way to Hwy 97, and then asked if Dave could bump up the breakfast service from the regularly scheduled 7:30 to 7:00am since we had an early trip scheduled for rafting. Dave said it was no problem and the next morning, even packed us additional scones to take on our trip. The second day, we got up, and there was no breakfast. It turned out that Dave had overslept and was on his way to the B&B. We got coffee, walked around the neighborhood and when we returned, he was busy, prepping breakfast for those who were waiting. We apologized profusely, stating that he only had been sick for three days in the past two years and said, "I knew that it was going to catch up to me, and unfortunately, it did." (hey things happen, and when you're a small business owner, it isn't like you have a ton of backup staff to support you) The last day we checked out, we had breakfast as normal, and when my husband went to check out, Dave did two things that were just really awesome for us. 1) He gave us a night back - we stayed for three, and he only charged us for two. The reason was because even though, he made it in time to make us breakfast, we were at a "Bed and breakfast, and if breakfast isn't there for you, then you're only getting half, and that's on me." We were just going to ask if we could have $20 back, since we were going to eat out for breakfast (until he had come over in time), but he gave us a whole night, free of charge. It was really impressive. 2) He had written down the recipe for his scone recipe. Now, if you read some of the other reviews (I haven't) you may see reviews on his scones. His scones are excellent. If I didn't have the recipe, I'd swear he puts crack in them. They're delicious, he makes different varieties, and I'm so glad to have the "how-to" behind them. Anyway, the only reason why I gave it 4 and not 5 were the pillows, you can hear your neighbors go in/out of their rooms, and the parking lot was small (twice, we parked on the street, which is free, but if you have to haul a lot of stuff, a pain nonetheless). But given it's proximity to the downtown area and how great Dave and the other staff were, I have no qualms about staying here again. In fact, we've already talked about it when we go back for ski season!

I have never been treated with such caring hospitality. The breakfast is all made from scratch. Fresh quiche, scones, waffles, bacon, potatoes, and scones. Yes the scones get two mentions because they are to die for! Dave you are one of a kind and truly the best at what you do. :)

I visited Bend on a biking trip this past fall and spent some time at the Mill Inn. Zane and David are awesome guys. Zane knows all the riding trails and will take the time to make sure you pick the best rides and know how to get there. The breakfasts are incredible. You will not find a breakfast this nice, in any hotel, anywhere. Fresh home made quiches and scones everyday, eggs made to order, all types of breakfast meats, all included in the very reasonable rates. I would unquestionably stay here on future trips. Two huge thumbs up.

The Mill Inn B&B Rating system for B&B: 1. Cleanliness 2. Cost - as it relates to value 4. The meal 5. Unique (Quirky-good or cool stuff) 6. Inn Keeper hospitality The Mill Inn gets a 4.5 rating - that equates to a 5 star yelp review. We found the B&B on Yelp. We called and got Dave, who had a room. He was casual and friendly. He said stop by, put our gear in the room, and work out payment later. He also offered access to the basement washer and dryer. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very unusual & cool door. Our room was the downstairs room by the front door and had its own bathroom -yay! The bedroom was fine, the bathroom was nicely done. The dining area was open with a chandelier above each table - very cool! My wife loved the ingenuity of the work-area in the kitchen. For example, the island was a coffee table on top some kind of contraption! After a long day of hiking and dining, we returned to a much needed sleep. Traffic noise disturbed my sleep at around the 5:00 am, as larger trucks rattled the room - not just the windows, but the room. Upstairs rooms may not suffer from the traffic noise. Breakfast was most excellent: Fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, 4 different quiches, potatoes, sausage, bacon, eggs to order, fresh baked scones and waffles if requested. Really off the charts; the scones were outstanding. Throughout breakfast, Dave and his assistant were accommodating. One of the benefits of a B&B is sharing with other travelers their experiences; this was no exception. We walked away with great ideas for our next couple days activities and hopefully passed on a few gems, as well. Our room was in the $100.00 range, we received great value for the money and look forward to our next stay at the Mill Inn again. You should as well.

We stayed here for a second time. Unbelievable! We stayed in the fall. Most recently this past weekend for a ski trip. Free wifi, big tables to hang out and drink coffee at are a big plus for me and my wife. The owner is always friendly and the service is beyond most hotels. The location is fantastic. we were able to walk downtown (4 blocks) for dinner in one direction. In the other is the Old Mill District with more food and shopping. There is a place to put your skis for safekeeping. The hot tub apres ski was great as well. Its located outside so may be cold getting out for some but we didn't mind. As mentioned in previous reviews, the breakfast here is ridiculously good. First day we got Belgian waffles, sausage, bacon and potatoes to go along with some toast and jam. Fresh coffee and OJ to boot. The second day we tried a salmon tortilla quiche and a pork cutlet quiche with scones. Fantastic. My wife and I like to meet other travelers and exchange stories. Only one other couple staying here while we were here were in the mood to socialize at night and in the AM. Of course David is great to chat with and has lots of insight into the area. Will be coming back to do some cycling and hiking in the summer. for those of you concerned about sharing a bathroom, this is our second time here and we were the only ones using the shared bathroom. Everyone else must be staying in the rooms with the private baths.

I might have a unique story. Roadtripping through Bend, we decided that just one night was not enough and when the St Francis was full, they sent us over to the Mill -- and I'm so glad they did. David let us in and showed us a few rooms to choose from, giving us details on all three. We settled into Room 8. I will now refer to this room as Blue Steel. First, because it's blue. Oh, so very blue. And second, because the pictures on the wall all reference New York. (There is that statue of liberty standing outside too). The bed and shower were fantastic after a number of nights camping. There's no TV in this room, but there are in others, like Room 10. I would say this room is on the loud side, with the street traffic below, but I'm used to city noise, so it wasn't much of a bother for me. But the piece de resistance? It's not the reliable wi-fi, it's not the shady parking stalls lined with old brass headboards, it's not the accommodating service. It's the breakfast. 7. Courses. 7! The day we were there it included fresh baked scones, a big fruit bowl, eggs, waffles, bacon, sausage and a delicious quiche. With rooms starting as low as $30 (for shared bath) up to $100 (TV, king bed, private bath) AND this breakfast ... that's worth giving up tenting for.

Price is great as is the concept. You will be very close to downtown. However, this is definitely a B&B for the bar crowd. Expect to be awoken at 2:30. Expect to hear ev-ar-y-thing. Yeah, you know that thing you're thinking of? You're going to hear it. The common areas were impeccable, but our room was dusty (though to be fair, it is really hard to keep velvet clean). Additionally, our sheets had evidence of bodily fluid and the inn keeper was quite dismissive of our request for new ones. We didn't make it over for breakfast--yet breakfast time was like nothing else I've experienced in a B&B. The inn keeper actually traipsed up and down the hallway, banging on doors and calling some people by name, announcing "last call" for breakfast. Now, I'm certain that this practice developed over time, in response to the hungovers missing their grub and coffee. However, I'd rather take my chances on missing a meal and be treated like a responsible adult.

We received a recommendation of the Mill Inn so we gave it a shot this past weekend. The style of the place is a bit eclectic for my taste, but everything else was fairly stellar. We stayed in a two bedroom cottage and it was impeccable. Things were newly updated and situated for maximum use of space. I would suggest getting a more sturdy dining table and chairs as the ones that were being used looked a bit like outdoor furniture. Aside from that, though, no real complaints. The breakfast...oh man...the breakfast. It was everything you'd expect from a BnB. It was extensive and covered a wide variety of eaters. The tables were set with tons of option with waffles and eggs made to order. I probably ate a weeks worth of carbs in waffles in two days. UM! David even held breakfast for us when we called inquiring as to when it was over and was told us ten minutes. Whoops! He was hospitable and kind, however, and didn't seem put out in the least that we were tardy.

I stayed here with my girlfriend over the weekend. The location is awesome. The room was very clean and comfortable. The service was great, Dave was easy going, kind, and willing to help with anything we needed. Breakfasts were unique and extremely tasty (all made fresh, quality selections, and offered way more than what the website says). Met some good people in the hot tub and had an overall great experience. This will definitely be my go to spot for a bed in Bend.

I have stayed at the Mill Inn four times and just made a reservation for my fifth. I always get one of the "suites" because they include private bath. These consist of the New York, Seattle and San Francisco rooms and I have tried all three, with S.F. coming on top as my favorite. The inn is spotlessly clean and comfortable. I love the little details and quirky decor. The manager, David, is always eager to do anything he can to make your stay more enjoyable. His breakfasts are delightful (best scones EVER) and it is a bit different every time I have been there. There is usually a breakfast quiche, waffles to order, fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, sausage, bacon, juice, coffee, breads and, of course, those yummy scones. On one occasion I was the only guest so David gave me a box of scones to take home. How nice is that? The last time I stayed I went to Mt. Bachelor to ski. David let me keep the room (since it wasn't booked that night) for the entire day, enabling me to freshen up when I got back from Bachelor for the long drive home. Another plus is the location, close to the two most popular sections of Bend, downtown and the Old Mill District. The only negative I can think of is the road noise. This is especially true of the ground-floor Seattle room. Since the inn sits on the corner of a fairly busy intersection, this is to be expected. I usually travel with earplugs - in case of situations like this - so it's no big deal. I plan to be in Bend on a fairly regular basis and the Mill Inn will continue to be my hotel of choice. Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Mill Inn over Cinco de Mayo and had a great experience. The room price was very reasonable and our Host David gave us a free upgrade since no queen suites were available. Our king suite had great eclectic decor, the bed was great, and the room was spotless. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. I have been gluten free for 12 yrs and traveling always presents a real challenge, so I really appreciated the GF breakfasts David prepared for me. My wife raved about the homemade scones and David provide her with plastic baggies so she could take some with. David was friendly and offered us suggestions on local attractions, dining, and shopping. We enjoyed fine dining and toured the galleries during the First Friday Art Walk. The Cinco de Mayo block festival had live music, street food and mucho varieties of margaritas. The Old Mill District was just too Disneyland -like, so we spent our time cruising downtown or walking the Dechutes River trail. Note: It seemed that there is literally a coffee house and/or brewery on every block downtown.

My husband and I stayed for the long weekend at the mill inn. This is by far the best place I've stayed for $60 a night. The room is small but cute. The owner really loves velvet but she managed to pull it off. Our room doesn't have a private bath but there are other rooms that cost a bit more that do. There was a hot breakfast from 7-9 am that consisted of scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, waffles, fresh fruit, toast, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and orange juice. It wasn't the most deliciously prepared meal but it was hot and fresh. There is also a hot tub in the back of the house. We found this to be perfect after a day of skiing. The host was accessible but not overbearing like some inns or b&b's can be. I would definitely recommend this place...you get a lot for not much denaro. One tip: try not to book rooms 1 or 2 if you can. There is a good amount of street noise from outside.

Everytime We stay in Bend, we stay at the Mill Inn. the Inn keeper is very friendly. The breakfast is good. You will eat waffles and eggs every day so if you need a change you can ask for yogourt and granola. The rooms are small but comfortable. Some rooms have no bathrooms. I have stayed in those rooms everytime (cheaper) and always found the bathroom empty when I needed it. Great location!!!!!!! You can walk everywhere downtown. I believe the Inn is closed during the winter :(

I have some improvement suggestions but they wouldn't prohibit us from staying again. We stayed in the small 1 bedroom cottage. Great location, breakfast was good, place was clean. Things they need to add: Kleenex, dish soap, and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE replace the shower head. A good shower is likely in every women's top 10 needs and this one was awful. They are under $20 at home depot, please invest in one. Living room is arranged weird for watching TV. Add a TV in the bedroom. There are hookups already there. This would allow guests to watch two different things. Lastly, the whole set-up is a bit unorganized. I left several message with questions before we got there, like what time is check-in and where is check-in, with no return call. No 'cabin book' either to tell you how things work, like wi-fi....All in all for the price we would return.

I really enjoyed our stay here! Pros- Cheap, downtown (walking distance), breakfast (amazing), and hot tub :) Cons- Common bathrooms ( 2 bathrooms for something like 8 bedrooms), and noise if your unlucky enough to get one of those front rooms on the street. When ever I go to Bend I'll definitely go back :)

This place is great! Not at all cheesy like most bed and breakfasts. Really cool decor. Carol, the inn-keeper made us feel very much at home right away. The breakfast is delicious and the location is prime! Walking distance to everywhere. Highly recommended!

Great place. Comfortable rooms - we were in the Seattle suite. Very clean and nice bathroom. Awesome breakfast! Good location. The owner, Zane, was super friendly (as was everyone who worked there) and even offered us a couple of bikes he had stored in the basement to tool around town. We will definitely be back.

Unforgettable breakfast. Great location. Walking distance to most things. Other guests are always friendly and up for chatting, too. Room decor was neat. Was there in mid-Dec and wish our room was warmer but we could find extra blankets pretty easily. Would definitely recommend/return to this place :)

I loved everything about my stay. I spend 2 nights, and couldn't have been happier with the service, room, location, and breakfast. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, gave me bunch of great recommendations about what to do, hike, etc. The chef was sweet and friendly as well and chatted about the advantages of cast iron skillets. The breakfast was to die for and their waffles were da bomb. Great job! Overall great people and a cute and comfortable place to stay. I'll stay there any time I'm in town.

Staying at the Mill Inn was definitely a highlight of our road trip through Bend. Despite my girlfriend and I being on a tight budget, paying a little extra to stay in the Mill Inn was well worth it considering the clean-cozy atmosphere and the smorgasbord of foods for breakfast (oh the waffles were delectable!!). Do note, however, that we did not see the owners during our stay (it's a check in check out on your own accord type of place) so it's not a visit where you get that staying in someone's home feel. But great stay and easy walk to downtown!

We stayed here one night. This place is more of a hotel/hostel than a traditional bed and breakfast home or inn. We appreciated that it was clean. The washrooms in the hall for the rooms without private baths were beautiful and well stocked with fresh towels, etc. The breakfast was very good and the kitchen staff were friendly and efficient. However, the bed was pretty bad which is the reason for giving this place 2 stars. When a guest spends 6-8 hours in one of your beds, wouldn't it make sense to have quality mattresses in your rooms? Ours sagged in the middle so we were clinging to the sides all night. As we were leaving I glanced in a couple other rooms where people had already left. The beds in other rooms didn't look much better than ours. The AC worked great in the daytime, but was turned off at night and it was fairly warm and stuffy in the room. Opening the window didn't really help. We'll be looking for another place to stay next time we return to Bend. The good breakfast didn't make up for the uncomfortable night's sleep.

We had a fantastic stay! For us the highlights of this B&B were its cleanliness, comfortable room and bed with private shower (we stayed the Seattle room), charming dining room, proximity to downtown (short walk), free wi-fi and the kindness of the staff. My wife and I are vegan and the kitchen staff were exceptionally accommodating at each breakfast-cooking up some delicious plant based food. They were also incredibly helpful recommending things to do around Bend. I really appreciated the ease of checking-in and checking-out. Highly recommended.

Cute place, very clean, very nice staff (which you will only see at breakfast) and fantastic breakfast/coffee. This was my first Bed and Breakfast experience, I tend to prefer modern hotels but was pleasantly surprised. The photos don't really do it justice. It looks quite shabby chic online but feels fancier in person. We got a king suite with bathroom (room 10). The room was a little small for the size of the bed and did not have air conditioning (common for Oregon apparently). The streets are a little busy/noisy for having to keep the windows open at night so bring ear plugs if you are noise sensitive. I would probably stay here again if it were in a cool season. Location is just south of downtown. Kinda walkable? Free/ample parking. MMMMM waffles and bacon. Oh P.S., you will wake up to the smell of bacon.

We came for 1 night last week to see a concert and wanted to try spending our money at a nice, independent hotel/motel/bnb establishment. We are not part of the top 20 percent economic class, but we are willing to spend more than $50.00 on a room for the night. Of the Bed and Breakfast choices, this one seemed to be a good price and was taken by the mention of their food being locally sourced when possible. I'm into supporting locavore-type businesses. Our room was nice and appeared as nice as the photo shown on their website. The bathrooms in the hall were equally as nice and we were happy everything was so clean and tidy. Our bed was so-so. Not an air mattress so it wasn't as firm as I like for a comfortable night's sleep. Sheets/pillows/towels all very nice. All the furnishings were lovely and temperature of the room perfect. My disappointment was that I never knew who the owners were. When you check in, you are emailed the front door code and show yourself up to your bedroom and the key to your room is on the bed. When I got up early (before 7a.m.) and smelled the lovely scent of freshly brewed coffee, I went downstairs and saw a woman and man in the kitchen and asked if I could sneak a cup of brewed coffee and was told yes. That was about the extent of an opportunity to be welcomed and introduced as to who they were. I took a shower and must have been the first woman on the floor (of rooms that do not have private bathrooms) to use the shower. The shower stall was lovely but the drain was clogged. As the water ran the water pooled in the stall. It was about an inch or so deep by the time I got out. When we went down for breakfast there were three tables seated w/ guests who appeared near the end of their meal, then us and not long after a couple w/ their baby came in to eat. The inn staff (man and woman in the kitchen) seemed to engage well with the two tables of people across from us, but we didn't seem to register on their radar. We got up and walked over to the food buffet table. The egg frittata looked fine and there was another egg item (maybe an egg in a basket) but the egg yolk was pretty hard from sitting in the warming pan. The dish of cubed potatoes were way too spicy for me to eat. I just gave them to my partner. I ordered a 1/2 a waffle which was really heavenly. I should have just ordered a full one and bypassed the eggs/potatoes. There was no brewed coffee when we sat down for breakfast. The proprietors had removed it and replaced the pot w/ a Keurig one-cup coffee maker which I refuse to use (environmentally stupid and the machines harbor mold and mildew). We skipped coffee. When my partner asked what kind of brewed coffee they use we were told, Kirkland brand. What???? If you are going to brag about using local sourced veggies why not seek out the best local ingredients for say, coffee, cheese, breads etc.? fyi...Strictly Organic is a local coffee roaster I would patron next visit to Bend. I felt like we were being rushed, the kitchen door was open and we could see the man in the kitchen blasting through doing dishes and clearing the tables. If breakfast goes until 9 a.m. then maybe undertake clean up at a slower pace so that guests don't feel they need to hurry up, eat and run. I wish we had had a really good experience. I love patroning B & B's when we can afford to (many are pretty pricy so we can't stay at them as much as we'd like) but I'd really like to encourage the Mill owners to consider what I've shared. It is a lovely place, but needs some personal touches.

Greeted by the nicest girl, shay. She was very helpful and so sweet! The accommodations are top notch. Our room, the golf room, was super small, but, we just needed to sleep in it so we didn't mind. Bathrooms down the hall were clean and very nice. The fire pit out back is a great way to finish your day, along with a soak in the xl hot tub! Breakfast was amazing! Best waffles I've ever had, and the frittata was outstanding! Good strong coffee and oj too! Bring your own champagne! Cannot wait to stay again!!

My husband and I stayed here this past week for our honeymoon, after a personal recommendation from friends who stayed here for New Years. Our friends were adamant that the waffles themselves were worth the stay and they are so right! The breakfast is delicious (seriously, the waffles -- I can't even!), the location is perfect smackdab in the middle (walking distance to everything), and the house itself is comfy and welcoming. We stayed in a room with a king size bed and ensuite bathroom and everything was clean and ready when we checked in, even before posted "check in" time! We heard a fellow guest complain of traffic noise and other guests coming/going but 1) this is a historical house and there's not much you can do about insulation etc., and 2) it's nothing that a pair of ear plugs doesn't fix. My husband had no trouble sleeping and I brought/used ear plugs which worked just fine for me! When we come back to Bend (...gotta finish the Ale Trail!), we'll stay here again!

The Mill Inn bed and breakfast was a delightful experience during our stay in Bend. Other than some cars on the street, the inn was very quiet. The bathroom down the hall was always available and clean with a hot shower. Our room was fairly small but we were out exploring all day so who cares! We looked forward to their unbelievably delicious and abundant breakfast in a cozy atmosphere. Service was perfect. Really great value for the price. Cooks and owner were very friendly. Highly recommend! Oh and the chef even made me a gluten free Belgium waffle!

I will never stay anywhere in Bend again!! Love this BnB for its breakfast, decor, and hospitality! We totally felt like we were staying at a friends house! Great outdoor areas to hang out in, we meet great people (the house was full of Phish fans for the shows) thank you Zane for having such a legitimately awesome place so near al the best Bend has to offer, we will be back!

A cute old boarding house in historic Bend, OR. Prices were low ($80/night + tax) for a B&B. The rooms were kinda funkily decorated- with a mish-mosh of styles. The bed was comfy- they had lots of pillows! Centrally located to the historic business district, too. We had a hard time figuring out the AC, and we also were unfortunate enough to have one of the 2 front rooms, which meant that we had to hear a lot of road noise all night. They also have a huge hot tub, which we were all ready to use and then I crashed out on the bed in my suit! Breakfast in the morning was worth all of the hassles, though. Fresh fruit, fresh oj, waffles (best I've ever had) dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar, quiche, eggs and bacon cooked to order.... it made our 10 hour drive bearable. Definitely recommended if you're heading that way.

the mill inn was our base for a bike tour in bend with Cogwild (read review). this place was absolutely immaculate. we had originally booked the backpacker room (30/night) with 4 dudes, but when we arrived, David, the innkeeper, said he wasn't full so 2 of us got another room for the same rate! it was a great deal. the backpacker room had 2 twin beds with a futon, lockers, and our own bathroom. it was cozy and had a private entrance. the other room was a double queen with a shared bathroom. out back was a nice little patio and even a hot tub. i loved the cool decor of the exterior with all the glued/nailed on knickknacks. for the 2 mornings we stayed, David served up a kick ass home cooked breakfast. delicious coffee, a giant egg fritata, fresh fruit, a plethora of fruit juices, cold cereals, and then cooked to order eggs and/or waffles. we were STUFFED. at our room rate, the breakfast was 10bucks...an outstanding deal for how much food we ate. it's included in the price of the room if you book a room other than the backpacker room. super close to everything. we could walk to all the cool bars and shops of bend. and not on the retail strip. the back packer room wasn't on the street so it was nice and quiet. our other 2 buddies did say they heard some revelers at some point during the night, but not enough to keep them awake. highly recommend the mill in. David is awesome and we can't wait to come back.

The comments on this b & b are pretty accurate. Great location, super-friendly owner, fabulous breakfast. Not a luxury place by any means -- small rooms that can be a bit noisy due to traffic. But take your earplugs. You'll enjoy the place, as we did. We were mostly in Bend to check out the breweries, and you can easily walk to 6 of them from the Mill Inn. The price was reasonable and we thought we got a great value for our money.

Love it here! I have stayed in the backpacker and in the actual inn. Everything is clean and well kept. The atmosphere is very laid back and mellow. Breakfast was delicious!!

Awful experience! We got the King Suite and it had the worst bed I have ever slept on. Room was very small, noisy, dated and dusty. I wish we could have left after the first night. Breakfast was okay. The inn keeper was friendly.. Never could get the WI-Fi to work.

Very reasonably priced, clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast was excellent--a very nice spread.

Bed first: I like how low key check-in is. You just enter in the door code and your key is in your assigned room. Room was clean and the bathroom down the hall was sparkling clean and very nice! Great shower!! The bed was soft for my tastes but some people like that. I like my beds on the firmer side. The street noise was a little loud. I sleep with ear plugs in always so this didn't bother me but my husband mentioned it. Breakfast next: Awesome breakfast!!!!!!!! Wow what a spread! Great buffet plus the kitchen can make you eggs to order. Delicious coffee too. Fresh fruit and orange juice at every table. They are ultra friendly too! Definitely recommend staying here!

I love this place! We spent 3 nights in the King Suite and were very happy with the comfort, style and amenities! The bed (we had the king suite) was very comfortable with lovely linens and pillows. Bathroom was very clean and nice and no detail was overlooked. Breakfast was delightful and the coffee was excellent. The location is perfect -- walking distance to the Old Mill and downtown shopping and restaurants. Thanks so much. We will see you again soon! This place is incredible. We stayed here two weeks ago for two nights. At first we were very hesitant due to never staying at a B&B before but we were pleasantly surprised. We showed up last minute after making a decision to check it out. Spoke to Zane the owner who is extremely friendly and welcoming. We took the king bed with our own bathroom which was perfect. You can walk to downtown which has some of the best breweries I have ever tried. The breakfast is from 7:30-9am I believe, the chef makes some killer food !! Top notch food, plus the Belgium waffles he made is seriously the best waffle I have ever had!!! We would stay here again in a heart beat. For $125 for the night you couldn't go wrong. Cheers

Just spent two nights there. It was great! Decor was fabulous, enjoyed foosball game table and flat screen TVs. Outdoor firepit next to the hot tub was great. Low key check in definitely a plus. Restrooms tastefully outfitted and spotless. Rooms interesting and clean as can be. This B&b is very conveniently located to old town. Breakfast was AA+. Try the blueberry waffles!

Rude!! I Received communication today via email that I have a reservation tomorrow. I canceled this 6 months ago. I called since they never replied to my email. The guy who answered my phone call would not let me get my full sentence out that I cancelled. He talked over me and said to call tomorrow. I was able to ask though if their email was working, he rudely said he gets 50 a day so I need to call tomorrow, I kept trying to tell him that my email from them shows my reservation on the 18th (tomorrow) he then proceeded to tell me how life was good and not to worry about it Wow....how unprofessional...I will never book with them again.

Well appointed rooms and very good breakfast (the waffles are AMAZING). But not my idea of a good B&B. 1) There's no interaction with the hosts at all, except at the breakfast table (barely). When I stay at a B&B, I expect to be able to chat up the hosts and get some insights into the place/history/culture/etc. If I want self-checkin and an impersonal experience, I'd go to a hotel instead. 2) While breakfast was great, service was not. We waited for nearly 15 minutes for them to offer us waffles before I gave up and asked for it. Eggs to order were supposed to be on the menu, but no one asked us if we wanted them either. I will not come back to this place.

I arrived after 9:30p and oriented myself in the bed and breakfast as no one greeted me in nor was there any note welcoming me. That's cool, though I would have preferred a greeting (customary?). I stayed in the Mt. Bachelor room on a Thursday night. I had no idea the small room itself was in the corner of the house that was already in a busy intersection, but the street noise didn't bother me too much (maybe since I had lived in a big city before?). The linens in my bed were luxurious and I think that also may have something to do in my sleeping fairly well. I didn't mind using the women's bathroom down the hallway, but expected to have a bathrobe in my room as I've been accustomed to having one at other B&B's. The women's bathroom had a plush floor mat and extra towels. It was also very clean. The bathroom door itself freaked me out a bit since it was frosted glass and I wondered I could be seen from the hallway, but decided that someone else would have made a fuss about it before me and the owner would have changed it if it was an issue. It was unfortunate that the wi-fi was not working. I called the manager about it but he was not in the building so he couldn't troubleshoot. I also didn't get a confirmation that I could have breakfast early after I emailed them a request the day before. Though I was able to get my delicious quiche, moist scone and banana to-go the next morning, it would have been nice to get a notice that it would have been okay.

Just stayed in Bend at the Mill Inn for 3 nights, as we explored the town. We were very pleasantly surprised and felt that this place was a great value for the price, even considering our two little cons. Pros - David, the manager, is a fantastic cook. Breakfast every morning is an amazing spread, and even though we were the only people in the whole place on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning we woke up to the same awesome buffet. Quiches, burritos, ham, bacon, eggs to order, the most delicious belgian waffle that was perfectly crispy, scones, toasts, breads, greek yogurt and granola, fruit, etc. AMAZE-balls. Oh, and really good coffee. Rooms are small but very nicely appointed, and very clean. Bathrooms are tastefully tiled in white and just really cute, with memory foam mats and fluffy white towels. Even the shared bathroom in the hallway is really nice - we are squeamish about sharing but honestly after seeing it in person, we would do that next time, since it's a little cheaper and the bathrooms are just so clean and luxurious! The owner, Zane, and the manager, David, are both helpful and accommodating. We thought we'd have to stay an extra day and Zane blocked it off for us just in case. David helped out with recommendations on places to eat around town, neighborhoods, etc. The morning we left, they offered to pack us food for the road, and got us to-go cups for coffee. LOCATION - you can't beat the location. You can walk to the Old Mill District, Mirror Pond and Drake Park, and the whole downtown area, which has a good mix of cheap places and high-end places to eat and shop at. The road the Mill Inn is located on is the one that takes you straight to Mt. Bachelor, only a 15-20 minute drive. Amenities - basement with foozball, laundry, and a hang out area, and a backyard with a hot tub, fire pit, and hang out "tent" area. FREE WIFI! Cons - You can totally hear your neighbors, so on a crowded weekend be prepared to party. My BF and I are used to sleeping on a memory foam mattress, so we annoyed each other with our tossing and turning on the regular spring mattress. Tip - I would call and ask for the rooms at the front of the Inn for the quietest spot, or the River Wild suite at the back.

Comfortable room, great location and AMAZING breakfast in the morning. The breakfast consisted of 3 homemade quiches, donuts, fruits, sausage, bacon, eggs made to order and belgian waffles made to order. It was one of the better breakfasts I've had, possibly ever. The owner is a very sweet guy. I had to cancel our second night there and it took him a while to get back to me, so I thought he was just inattentive, but I could see at breakfast that he's probably just ridiculously busy keeping up with the amazing breakfast he cooks daily and keeping everything in order. He was SO accommodating. I would definitely stay here again if in Bend!

This place was a great home base for my wife and I to get to know Bend. Walking distance to almost anything in town. Great prices, amazing hospitality, delicious breakfast. The owner is fantastic and friendly. There is a hot tub!! The rooms are small, clean. Beautiful bathrooms in the rooms that have them. Walls can be a little thin. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay someplace nice, unique, and not super pricey. We will be back!
