meh. three things; margarita was really good. made with agave and fresh lime juice. big plus! service was great, except every time i put my fork down to take a drink someone tried to grab my plate. food, well it was fine. taste was good, nothing amazing, but good. seriously though... for the price i paid i should have had more food. i ordered a chicken dish in cilantro sauce. there were about 8 bite sized pieces of chicken swimming in a pool of sauce. 8 bites of chicken? overall, i may go back for a drink, but not for dinner.

This location no longer exists. La Rosa has moved to Northwest Crossing.

I have to say I was disappointed in La Rosa. I've tried their old location by COCC and thought it was good, but lately I went to the Northwest Crossing location and first off thought it was very over-priced. The service was not very good (though the bus-girl was fantastic). Then to top it off my entrée was not very edible. I hate to write bad reviews, but my main purpose is in hopes that it may cause someone in the business to see it and work on improving it. On a plus side, very cute location and interior.

Probably the best Mexican food in Bend, tho that isn't saying much. Definitely some things that are better than others. The chips and salsa are tops (yum!) but most of the menu is fairly middle of the road. Certain things are better. I ask for a carne asada plate (not on the menu) and they usually fire up something pretty nice. The crab enchilada is solid as is the chile relleno. Stay away from the chicken cuz it's overcooked and terrible. Store bought tortillas, meh. Sadly though it's probably the best that Bend has to offer. I also like Hola and El Burrito at times.

Camorones Tropicales was the no.1 dish of our waitress. Her no.2 was Pescabo LaRosa. Alex had her no.2 and it was awesome! Come here. It was kid city... but our hostess helped us by suggesting we wait for the booth soon to empty. The tamales were mine. Delicious. Margaritas- Yummy. Will have to come again when in Bend.

Went to the new location. Food was decent but expensive. The guacamole wasn't all that good or flavorful even though it was done tableside (maybe a new recipe is needed?). Service was nice enough but, overall, this was just an ok experience.

Food is pretty darn tasty. The salsa has super fresh ingredients. I ordered the Ranchero Burrito, and was not disappointed. My fiancé had enchiladas and they were really good too. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant to eat at in Bend.

We used to live in Bend, loved this place. However, I think they were extremely short staffed. Took quite long to get order in and we waited 45 mins for food. We had 2 pitchers of margaritas that pretty much had zero tequila. Normally I wouldn't care but they are pricey, just basically a very acidic drink over ice. Service was nice though, food was OK.

La Rosa is a great place on the west side of town. I have had dinner here many times but had mixed reviews about the food. Their drinks hands down are one of the best for a Mexican restaurant. Our server was very attentive to us during the whole time. To start with we had empanadas and they were very good in flavoring. For my entree I had the chicken fajitas and they were filled rich with flavor. If it's a nice day outside make sure to eat on the patio.

  • Michael M.

Some of the best margaritas around. Service has always been fast and attentive. We usually sit on the patio which is great. The food has never disappointed us. Happy hour is the best time - deals on their margaritas and nice small plates.

Really creative menu. Hand made Guacamole table side. The atmosphere is kind of hectic the night we were there. My wife had the Chile Verde; I had the steak Fajitas. The food was excellent with great presentation. The portions were bountiful inline with the price: $11.00-$17.00. We'll return for sure next time in Bend. Give it a try.

We went to La Rosa based off of the good reviews here on Yelp, which is what makes me feel compelled to share my experience. I have to begin by saying that Mexican food has always been a safe choice for us, having our favorite dishes, a chicken taco salad and pollo asado that has never led us astray at any restaurant we have tried. As surprised as I am by it myself, I have found a place that has changed my mind. The pollo asado here was served with what looked like the kind of chicken you buy already cooked and readymade for salads. It tasted just that way as well. Completely bland. Even the mole verde couldn't save how bland the chicken tasted. I am just happy the dish came with avocados that I could eat with each bite of chicken. It also came with white rice, which didn't make sense to me in a Mexican dish. My boyfriend's taco salad was okay, but once again just seemed bland. I would describe my experience as a Mexican restaurant taking americanization a little too far. Definitely not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Sad to say that we were entirely disappointed and will not be returning.

Friendly service and delicious food in a neighborhood atmosphere. Do not miss the daily happy hour...the Classica Margaritas and Tacos de Barbecoa are amazing. Barbecoa is not on the regular menu, only the happy hour, and they have been tweaking the recipe recently, ensuring a taco full of richly sauced, spicy and perfectly cooked beef served with a fresh pico de gallo. Good kids menu; add chicken to any item to make it even better. My daughter loves the quesadilla with chicken.

We love love love la Rosa margaritas. Horny Toad for him & Bahai for me by the best bartender Sandra. Dinner tonight was light mexican pizza & fish tacos. We love the salsa and bean dip. The wait staff were all friendly doing a great job. Nice to see the owner there working hard and being friendly to every guest. We'll be back for more of those great margaritas.

Simply the BEST! I stop at La Rosa every time I have a reason to be in Bend. I just visited and had the very best seafood dish I've ever eaten! The Moriscos La Rosa is amazing! My wife had the seafood burrito, which was also great. The service is always outstanding and welcoming. Not only is the food amazing, but the margaritas are to die for! My favorite is the tamarindo. If you get the chance, don't pass on a trip to La Rosa!

Although I tend to think sit down Mexican restaurants aren't great, this places was awesome!! They make the guac right in front of you and they keep bringing chips with salsa and bean dip before your food comes. The fajitas are really yummy, which I shared with another person.

Love this restaurant! Carlos is the BEST server, I have picky children and he always remembers their order. Food is always fresh and food and we love the chips and salsa. Great menu choices and kid friendly if you go early in the evening for dinner. Clean restaurant and very friendly service. Thanks La Rosa and give Carlos a raise:)

La Rosa is my favorite restaurant in Bend. I like the atmosphere. They have outdoor seating and a decent bar area. Service is always good. The Burrito Fresco is absolute perfection! Also it is such a huge portion I take half home and have the other half for lunch the next day.

Went to NW Crossing location, I had a taco salad, and it was pretty mediocre. The sopa de pollo soup was very good however. I would be willing to return. My colleague commented the hostess was very curt with him when he arrived before us. Our waitress was very nice however.

I gave La Rosa a second shot yesterday and it was just as disappointing as my first experience. I ordered very different meals both times I dined at La Rosa and both times I picked at my meals and paid for them when I should have sent them back to the kitchen. The first time I tried La Rosa I ordered the Playa Dorada - a fish dish with caramelized pineapple and red pepper. This meal was so sweet it was nearly inedible! There wasn't anything to balance out the sweetness either. It was just a heavy sticky sweet meal. This experience was about a year and a half ago, so I don't remember what my boyfriend ordered, but he wasn't impressed with his meal and has not wanted to return to La Rosa since. I decided to try La Rosa again yesterday. A friend and I thought Mexican food sounded good and I figured that if I ordered something more "standard" that it would probably be better. I was wrong. I ordered Enchiladas Rancheras. I've ordered these at many restaurants and I enjoy them even when they are mediocre. I did not enjoy them at La Rosa. They were doused in a very .... pungent?... sauce and the steak inside was not redeeming. I again picked at my meal when I should not have bothered ingesting it. (I really don't like complaining.) Edit: I really don't like complaining IN PERSON. Passive-aggressive Yelp complaining is more my style. I left wondering how La Rosa stays in business. I am thinking they benefit from having a somewhat captive audience with their location, plus it sounds like people enjoy their drinks and margaritas. A good margarita can make a bad meal much better. ;)

Darn you, La Rosa. I'm having to downgrade your review. And I wavered between 1 or 2 stars. You get two just because the food was decent last night. We were thrilled to have you open up in Brookswood. But you have two distinct personalities: One when Carole is there and one when Carole is not. The with Carole service is decent (never great, but acceptable). The without Carole service is awful. Last night after being told a 20 minute wait, we waited closer to 30 and maybe a bit beyond. We were finally seated and waited FOREVER for our server to come take drink orders. Then we waited forever for our drinks to come and to place our order. By some miracle the food came promptly. But then it took FOREVER for our check to come and FOREVER for our server to come back with our credit card. Clearly you were short handed. But come on. We arrived shortly before 6:00 and didn't leave until 7:55. We decided to stop in thinking it would be quicker than making dinner at home. Wrong. It's so frustrating. We were hoping you'd work out the kinks, but it seems the service issues persist. I can say that going forward we absolutely will not stay to eat if Carole isn't there.

We tried this place tonight on a trip back through Bend to Redding. It had four stars on Yelp and we thought Mexican sounded good for dinner. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed. We were seated quickly and were given bean dip, salsa and chips. The salsa tasted smoky and like tomato sauce. We had multiple staff come around refilling water and chips, which was nice. The food took quite a while to come out. It seemed like maybe the kitchen was backed up because we had a few servers apologize to us. I was surprised that you had to pay extra for sour cream. I asked what came with the chimichanga and they said it had chicken and cheese but no salsa, sour cream, avocado, etc. Overall the staff were very nice and on too of it. However, the good was slow and mediocre. And the atmosphere was nothing special. It seemed quite busy though so maybe it was just an off night!

A beautiful Central Oregon day highlighted by lunch on the patio. Happy hour starts at 1pm. So, yes! Table comes with chips and salsa, and a new one for me, refried bean dip - very good. Guacamole prepared at the table was also good. The shrimp wrapped in bacon was tasty if overdone. Empanadas got mixed reviews but the fish tacos were a hit. One subtraction, a kid meal was forgotten by the waitress. But it was nuggets and there was plenty to eat otherwise. Shall return.

  • Morgan S.

Unfortunately the hostess was not welcoming, a bit slow, and wanted to seat us in a bad location despite the fact that they weren't very busy. Wait staff was ok, but still a bit slow. Guess nobody cares about hustling these days. Previous trips here we're much better. Oh well, at least Bend has lots of other options....

Wow...Was in town for 80th birthday party. Went with a group of 5 and not one dish was anything short of amazing. I wish I could remember my servers name as she was as good as they get. Beautiful setting. Not your standard over cheesed mexican fare. A MUST if you are in the area. Prices from $10-$20.00. Thank you for the best meal I have had out in years

  • Todd A.

Not the same restaurant it was in the old location. The food here is overpriced and not a good value. I always struggle with $20 Mexican food that basically is beans and rice and a small portion of non exotic protein. I think you can get a much better value at Parilla Grill not far away. I have been here several times and have been disappointed by the service too. They like tot turn table over quickly but at those prices some time should be afforded the diners. So, the food was bland the drinks were okay but very $$$. There are just many better places for Mexican in Bend. Sorry to my friends in Northwest Crossing!

  • Elizabeth M.

I have been going to LaRosa for several years, even before its move to NWX. The food is consistently good, the atmosphere is casual-yet fun and the service is great. If you have never been I suggest waiting for a nice day and sit out on their patio along Mt. Washington. There is plenty of room, even for a large group. Enjoy a pitcher of margaritas with complementary chips. If you want some guacamole I suggest the fresco that is made tableside with your choice of ingredients. YUM! You want your meal extra spicy? Just ask for the complementary habenero sauce, but be prepared---it is hot! Happy Hour is a good bargain in the bar. Excellent margaritas for less than $5, along with a whole list of tasty appetizers. You can't go wrong selecting LaRosa. Just don't show up on a Friday or Saturday night at 7 with the idea you are going to be immediately seated. This place is happenin' and lots of folks know about it! Enjoy!

My husband and I are huge fans of La Rosa. I buy their salsa by the quart ($5.75/ea) and no longer make my own. We moved up from LA to Bend about 3 years ago and this place reminds us of one of our favorite restaurants back home. Delicious, classy and not a "typical" Mexican restaurant with a menu full of "combo plates." The food is fresh, the people are great and they have legit alcohol.

  • Sherryn A.

I don't want to give LaRosa any stars. As anyone who has read my reviews knows, I'm a lover, not a fighter, but dinner at LaRosa last night was truly AWFUL. Two cheese enchiladas, black beans and rice - completely and utterly without flavor - not good, not bad flavor...NO flavor. How is it possible to take flavor out of food? The service was flavorless as well; an automaton would have had more personality. It has been about a year since my last (and first) visit; I always give a place a second chance before I Yelp and this is probably the only time I am truly sorry that I did. Yes. It's THAT bad.

Mexican martinis - good. Food - very good. Sitting outside on a beautiful day - great. Service - quite good. I was the most impressed with the fish tacos. My favorite so far in Central Oregon... and I have actually had them in most of the Mexican places I have been - and these are fantastic. La Rosa is at the top of the list whenever I get a hankering for Mexican food while hanging in Bend... they just have a great feel, great food, and I do love sitting outside. The prices are also very reasonable - you don't feel like you've been ripped off as soon as the money departs from your wallet. If you haven't visited this place yet, you're missing out.

We discovered a real Mexican treasure in a unique, growing Bend live/work/play neighborhood, NW Crossings! Serving expensive tasting food for lunch and dinner at an affordable price, locally owned, LaRosa is a must visit -- all the ingredients are fresh - homemade salsa, sauces, and delicious tortillas. Comida Buena! We had the shrimp enchiladas smothered in green sauce and the Fresco Burrito. We had a fab lunch for just $20.00. On a summer day, you can sit outside on the deck and gaze upon the snow-blanketed Three Sisters while dining and sipping margaritas in the upcoming hot new neighborhood in Bend. kids welcome btw. #corvsmb

Very disappointed. We have been to this restaurant many times now and have never had a bad meal until this one. Such a shame since it was our son's last night out with us before returning to college. My son ordered his usual beef burrito, when he tasted it, he said it was watery and tasted like it came out of a can. This from a college student used to campus food. My burrito was only so so and I am quite happy I had already filled up on chips and guacamole. My husband's dinner was something totally different from what he had ordered, though it wasn't horrible, it didn't taste right and it will be a struggle to get him to go back again since he prefers one of the other competing Mexican restaurants across town. The waitress was frazzled due to the overwhelming amount of people inside and out with few servers. It took more than 15 minutes for my husband to get his beer for goodness sake. Crazy. Anyway, I hope this was just a fluke, as I have always enjoyed dining here.

Holy crap! A GOOD Mexican restaurant in Bend! La Rosa is simply delectable. It was one of the few places I could go to and forget that I was in the a town that had received 12 inches of snow overnight. Delicious margaritas, entrees, burritos - even the table salsa is special and unique. If you're traveling through central Oregon and want to avoid eating at run-of-the-mill "American dining establishments" such as McDonald's, Red Robin, and so forth, try La Rosa. It's worth it.

$13+ a plate for Mexican food? And sub par Mexican food at that. I guess they can charge the prices being on the westside. Azteca is better than this place. Will not return. Too bad because it's close to where I live.

    (1)
  • Betsy R.

One of the 2 best Mexican restaurants in Bend. If you are a vegetarian you can ask them to sub tofu for any meat dish! And they prepare it so nice... The new La Rosa in NW Crossing has much more room than the old one on College Way. And it has a nice outdoor seating area for those warm summer days.

  • Annette J.

My husband and I ate here with friends while vacationing in Bend this summer. The staff was friendly and helpful with menu recommendations as well as local events. We ordered margaritas a deep ruby color that was fantastic. Loved that they gave us the extra in a large glass as well. Our party ordered the Burrito de Marinero, a burrito stuffed with seafood and had a great creamy sauce, Arrachera, a skirt steak taco plate, and bacon wrapped shrimp with rice and sauteed veggies. The shrimp were a little dry having been fried ( would have preferred them baked) but the rice, beans, and veggies were the best we've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. I don't usually like these sides but these were delicious. We all felt the dishes were really good and tasted fresh. Portions were large and prices reasonable. We enjoyed our experience and will definitely go back.

So very disappointing... This used to be the best Mexican joint in town, especially when it was at its old location at the corner of College and Newport. I took family from out of town there this weekend relying on the memory of a great meal and great service. To begin, our first encounter with the procedure there was off. The hostess turned out to be our server who was perfectly friendly but it appeared management was cutting corners which proved true as our meal progressed, but I digress. She set up our booth, which we requested, and then returned to the lectern and told us to go the table instead of guiding us to it... weird. The booths are uncomfortably close to your body which makes you feel like a little kid; odd. Our drinks were ordered which were great; no problems there. Chips and salsa were excellent and fresh, tasty. Our dishes though... mine, especially was lacking so much... the Spanish rice was bland which was very surprising. Usually the rice in a Mexican restaurant is spiced and flavorful. Nope, not here. The beans were nothing special but I don't like refried beans anyway so I can't fault them for that. The Shredded Beef Enchildas Mexicanas I ordered were two small corn tortillas folded over half-wise with a skimpy amount of dry enchilada sauce covering them. A couple slices of avocado topped the dish off with a side of lettuce, pickled carrots and tomato. The rest of the family said their meal was good but I'm not sure if they were being honest... Not the reaction I had to the food when I first visited La Rosa so many years ago. I know the current owners are not the original owners from the previous location and they need to get their act together because customers from the previous incarnation are going to leave in droves if this continues. I give them props for having a trans-fat free menu (*except for the tamales!) but this is not the La Rosa of yesteryear. I don't want to go back and I'm sorry I took my family there trusting we'd get a great meal to remember

Happy to have this treasure in Bend. There is a lot to enjoy about this place, the people, food, and ambiance all are worth the trip and hopefully your return visit. No, it is not cheap and if you enjoy a margarita or three it may seem a bit expensive but so is every place in Bend. They have an excellent happy hour so if you are worried about the dollars, drink less or do happy hour. The family that owns and runs LaRosa make it want it is, an excellent dining experience in NWX Bend.

We weren't expecting much, just quick Mexican. We were wrong. The food was exceptional. The tacos al pastor, with pineapple pieces, were fabulous and the chicken soup top of the line. I highly recommend this eatery.

Ugh, I can't believe this passes for great Mexican food around here. It's exactly the kind of place suburban ladies go to because they are "diverse". LAME. The food was barely edible and not worth the million useless rotaries we drove through to get to this soulless patch of crap. Authentic flavor, my a**, more like ZERO flavor. The tacos were obscenely bland, the rice was overcooked and the beans tasted like tin can. Save yourself the drive and go to El Caporal, it's way tastier - never mind the deer heads on the wall. *This* Mexican girl should know: always go where there are actual Hispanics cooking, serving or waiting!!

I have been living in Orange County, California for quite some time. My parents and brother live in Bend. In So Cal I have been to loads of Mexican restaurants both good and bad, so I am pretty picky--but willing to try new places. Upon visiting Bend for the holidays my parents decided to take me to La Rosa in the Northwest Crossing area. While the small "main street" area looked almost deserted, La Rosa was open and inviting. The dining room has spacious tall ceilings and the decor includes clean bold colors. As I cruised through their menu one of their dishes caught my eye--I am a mole fan. I asked the waitress if the chicken enchiladas with the mole sauce were popular. She said yes, and then went the extra mile and came back from the kitchen with a small dish that had the mole sauce in it so that I could try it before ordering the entree. The mole was great and I was sold. I used the extra mole and put it over my rice. We also ordered the fresh tableside guacamole which was tasty! The food was excellent and the service was friendly. I will visit Bend often and will happily go back to La Rosa with husband, friends and family in tow!

Ordered take out and had some confusion with the order. MUCH more food than I thought I ordered. No problem and NO HASSLE when I questioned all the food. Charged what I was expecting but was given way more food. These guys are great, and so is the food. Thanks La Rosa.

Definitely my favorite place for mexican food in town. There was a period last year when I noticed a little dip in the quality of the food. I think they were dealing with a transition in the kitchen. However, they seem to be back on track and the food has been amazing. The lunch special the other day was one of the best mexican meals I have had. Prawns with chipolte sauce, white rice, beans and tortilla's. The sauce is what put this dish over the top! It was also a good size dish for the price and lunch. I heard that it will be a fixture on the menu in the hear future. The service was awesome! Some people believe that the prices can be a bit high with some dishes and drinks. If price is an issue, go to lunch instead of dinner and hit the drinks up during happy hour.

The Carnitas de Puerco was an incredible dish of lean tasty succulent port dancing in sauteed onions and peppers with mid-spicy green mole sauce (ask for extra). More food than any human should eat in one sitting (but I managed). Somewhat spotty service at peak; pretty/perky staff and a woofy bartender.

I had some of the best steak fajitas ever here, and I eat them regularly back in Tex Mex friendly Oklahoma. The vegetables were fresh and creative, with carrots and cucumbers as well as the typical peppers and onions. The meat was spicy enough to be quite tasty without getting old and the pinto beans were equally good. Four large hot flour tortillas completed the set. On a July Friday night the place was hopping with groups, folks at the bar and eating on the patio, and happy noise.

This was a great little find by a friend who is just starting out on yelp. Located in a tiny strip mall next to a Chevron gas station (which is disturbing). But don't let it dissuade you from coming here especially after reading all rave reviews from past yelpers who have dined here. The restaurant is small and usually filled with locals. We ordered margaritas right away which came with a pineapple wedge. Yikes! I think they should serve the pineapple in a shot glass!

  • Lynne D.

This is a super place for Mexican food not to mention the Tequila infused ...more like saturated...pineapple. If your having a pitcher of Margaritas don't do the blended. Rocks up is far tastier. This is a small mom and pop type place. Clean and service is friendly and prompt. The food is excellent and presentation is not bad. This is located at the bottom of the hill from COCC campus on College way in a small strip type mall. This is a place you will enjoy and want to come back to.It is small so get in early.

Which brings me to La Rosa. An offshoot of the successful but mediocre El Caporal chain, it is a boutique style Mexican cafe, with fairly high prices for said style. EERILY similar to HOLA! in many ways (or vice versa, as you read above), minus the fusion, it is no slouch in the food department. I love this place, though it is a bit expensive in the dinner department. And Guac made at your table is always a plus. Great drinks, too. I have recently found myself frequenting La Rosa fairly often, as I must eat Guacamole almost daily to retain my "Honorary Mexican" status. I have been frequenting the NEW La Rosa in Northwest Crossing, and I must say, there are fewer snobs there. And, I can happily report that on a recent Saturday night, it was moderately quiet. Lots of "Roadies" in there with their itty bitty T-rex arms and big legs, (local joke- Roadies vs. Mtn. Bikers, T-rex arms- HAH!), but I s'pose they gotta eat too! Just more rice cakes than the rest of us . . . (Roadies have a local rep as being snobbier than Mtn Bikers, for those who don't get the joke- and it's just humor, we like to pick on each other- no offense intended!) I felt it necessary to lower the snob rating to Medium from Medium High. And a decent margarita for $4.95? Priceless. And you have to try the jalapeño Margarita- minus the strawberry part.

The food is awesome. I love the Fajitas personally. At the end of your meal ask for the pineapples. They are soaked in tequila for quite a while and one or two with leave you feeling a little fuzzy around the edges. Totally awesome. LOVE IT. Prices aren't that bad either.

I had the worst dinner I have ever had in Bend. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service was crap, the only good thing about this place is the Margarita. The food was overpriced and wouldn't even call it Mexican food, I could have made better at home. I don't know what has happened to this place, it use to be great.

Third time at La Rosa and again fantastic. The chips and salsa are fresh, crisp and tasty. I had the Taco Del Pescado. Wife had the signature Pescado La Rosa. Both dishes were fantastic. Because we both love spicy we added some habanero sauce. Service was excellent with constant attention to our table. A+.

This place. Where do I start? Do you love dry instant white rice tinged pink by a little bit of tomato sauce? Do you love enchilada sauce like the kind you buy at Safeway? Do you dig watery margaritas? You'll really dig this place!!

Enjoyed a delicious red cactus margarita and a chimichanga/enchilada combo plate stuffed with flavorful pork at the Brookswood location. I was pleasantly surprised to be given the rest of the shaker with my drink! Stoked to eat my leftovers! I'll be back very soon!

Unfortunately I will have to agree with the negative reviews as it relates to the quality of the food at la Rosa, in addition they were understaffed and disorganized I will not be coming back in closing I hate writing negative reviews I hope they can turn it around, frankly I'm surprised they are still in business

I wonder if La Rosa had an off night or if most their customers haven't had good Mexican food to compare it to. We came in on a Friday night and were told it would be about 20 mins. 45 mins pass and we're finally seated in the world's most awkward booth. The table was up high compared to the seat and the space to sit was super narrow to the point that the table hit me above the breasts like a child's dinner seat. We would have asked for another space but all the tables were taken and also squeezed into tight spaces. Besides the torturous seating we also had pretty bad service. We waited about 15 mins to get our drink order put in, all the while a few servers stopped by to say they would be right with us; I wonder if they were playing the 1-2-3 NOT IT game. After ordering our drinks it took another 10-15 mins to get them, a member of our party saw them sitting at the bar while the waitress was no where to be found. Sure it was kinda busy that night but it was like no one wanted to work, many tables sat uncleaned while lines formed. The menu itself is way to expensive for the quality/service/location. The chips tasted bought and not freshly made. The salsa had far too much black pepper in it, a cop out for not flavorful enough salsa. The food itself was only ok, nothing really stood out. I'm not sure if there is just not enough Mexican food on this side of Bend or if the happy hour is a better deal or what but I would not recommend La Rosa to anyone coming in from out of town unless you like to eat dinner frustrated.

Have been twice so far this year. This restaurant was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. Nice wait staff, friendly and in nice NW Crossing neighborhood. Pricing is reasonable and the food is excellent. Also have good margueritas during happy hour. Had the molcajete for two and it was excellent. Plenty of food and great price.

Always our favorite restaurant when we're in the mood for Mexican food! The consistency of the food and service is always on par. If you're looking for the best Mexican food in town, head to la rosa!

This place gets great reviews and I love Mexican food. 6:30 on a Thursday, there's a wait, but really no place to wait without the "fishbowl" feeling. I checked in with Matt the host, fifteen minute wait. I went back to ask Matt if he needed our name, he said no, he knows who we are. Great. When our table was ready, Matt wasn't there. The gal filling in took our word for it that we were next. Thank you. Waitress was wonderful with special orders from the kids. Food was so-so. Nothing magical about any of our dishes. My pork enchiladas with tomatillo sauce was fine, taco special was fine. Bean and cheese burritos and a quesadilla upgrade to a "grown-up" size was $12. The highlight was the fried ice cream. Pricey, uninspiring food, great waitress. There's better Mexican food in town.

I am a fan because the staff is always friendly and the place has good atmosphere. The food I would actually give a 3 star just because I have had much better mexican food. I think if they did everything from scratch then I would give it a 5 star but since I imagine that they do not I give that a 3 star. It is good it just isn't great mexican food.

Westside location has been hit or miss lately. Nice patio area when weather permits and they bring out the heaters on cooler fall nights. My fave is the halibut in a mushroom sauce and also the flat iron steak is good. The margaritas are awesome! Try the tamarind or the X-rated!

Excellent food, service was great, even with one of our party having multiple food allergies and kids. Patio seating is attractive and shaded. Would eat here again. Recommended.

Pros: The ingredients are fresh and unique compared to other mexican restaurants in the Bend area. The lunch specials are WONDERFUL! I rarely go for dinner, but it's a favorite for lunch. Cons: The wait staff seem overwhelmed when I'm there and seem too busy to converse at all. Overall: One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Bend.

Come here for the arrachera. It's the best I've had outside of Mexico. The house margarita is also quite tasty.

I found their chicken taco combo plate to be very good. It was lightly seasoned and quite tasty. I had a virgin lemon lime maragarita that was also very refreshing. The salsa had a lot of cilantro in it, but my husband said it was more of a red pepper taste. We were very happy we could eat on the patio with our dogs. Dogs allowed! And the waitresses were very nice and friendly. We would happily eat there again.

My husband, 2 and 3 y.o. and myself went for nachos on a Sunday night. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, which wasn't a big deal, but once we sat down, it took at least 20 minutes for a server to greet us. It's as if we were in between two sections and both servers ignored us, until finally a server approach us to ask if we had ordered drinks yet. Normally, waiting wouldn't be a huge deal because we had the chips and salsa, but with two hungry toddlers, they were getting impatient. Also, because we had to wait so long, we removed one entree off our order because we were too full from chips! Once we got the nachos, 75% of the chips were really soggy--limp and mushy. Disappointing! You can't even pick them up! The flavoring they put on the chips and nachos is so-so. It's like a chipotle type seasoning. My husband liked it, but I didn't. It was too much. La Rosa is near our house so I'm bummed I can't go there for an authentic tasting nacho.

Cinco de Mayo at La Rosa. What can I say? It was packed. They had a great band playing and the servers were hopping. Our server was no exception and she handled it well. Sure we had to wait a bit longer for some things but it was busy. They seemed to handle it better than most I've seen. They had a special 5/5 menu and we ordered off that. The little woman had shrimp tacos and I had steak & chorizo tacos. Both were very good. They also had specials on appetizers and drinks. The only disappointment was the $6 Classico Margaritas. Ironically they didn't seem to scrimp on the tequila. But they seemed to be lacking lime and the glasses weren't full unless you count the abundance of ice. For the next round the mrs. upgraded to one of the special margaritas for $8.95 and it was well worth it. The food is always solid and the specials are inventive. They also have a very nice happy hour.

Chips and salsa were good. Waitress gave me a quick initial impression of being stressed or simply not having much time to wait on us. She spent the minimal time on us without actually making me think the job was poor. My burrito was sour. I've never had such a sour burrito before. The menu's are out of date, I was told when I asked why "pork" wasn't listed as a choice of meet even though she had offered it to me verbally. The horchata was OK, nothing special. No refills.

Awesome! I have been a fan since they were next to the college. If anything they have gotten better since moving to NWX. We make it for dinner at least once a month. Every visit starts with an immediate serving of warm chips with salsa and beans. Their salsa is perfect with an undertone of roasted chilis! I may start buying it by the quart. Everything is fresh and prepared perfectly. Nothing is greasy or over seasoned. The happy hour is a great deal and the vegetable empanadas are delicious and filling. We love the vegetable fajitas, spinach enchiladas, and chili relleno. The food is all reasonably priced. Our beverage bill sometimes exceeds our food cost. We most frequently sit at the bar. Roger is great at the bar and very attentive. He gives good pours and has an excellent knowledge of tequila. Even when the place is slammed he always has a conversation and keeps an eye out for your needs. La Rosa has a super tequila selection along with some good tequila flights that are a good value. The La Rosa Gold Margarita is freaking awesome but a little spendy at $11. Dos Equis, Pacifico, and Negra Modela are available on tap.

Number two spot for Mexican in Bend. They lose a star for service, it is inconsistent at best. Food is good, tofu can be subbed in most any dish, and the guacamole is always prepared fresh table side. We live nearby so we walk over for chips, guacamole and a margarita regularly. A nice neighborhood place.

Met friends for happy hour drinks this afternoon. The guacamole made right at the table was amazing as usual. Always a bit disappointed with the margaritas. They always seem to lack tequila and are too sweet. I keep trying but am always let down, as were the rest of my company. Good food, mediocre drinks and service.

I first discovered La Rosa went hey were new, and located at the base of College way. It was there that I fell in love with the staff and crew, as they always made me feel so welcome and comfortable. My love and affection of Tequila began here. La Rosa continues to be my absolute favorite place to be with friends, enjoy a meal, and sample some of the finest Tequila on the planet. Carole, family and crew are absolutely top notch. Also my favorite business meeting place. The food is consistently prepared and always supremely delicious and unique. The atmosphere is hugely comfy and very popular. Now with the new SW Bend location, it's even easier to meet with friends, and turn them into believers! Aaaarrriiiibbaa!

Chips & salsa....to die for. Bean and cheese chimi....to die for. Had responsibilities for the rest of the day so I did not partake in one of their famous margaritas. Next time for sure! My only complaint is with the service. It took about 15 minutes for the staff to clean our table & seat us. When we were served our water, it came without straws. When we asked for straws they gave us 2. There were four of us dining. About 5 minutes later we got the other two straws. Maybe just a little more organization. :)

Daughter had back to back Lacrosse games last Saturday so in between games, we popped in here for lunch. We are "Eastsiders" and this place definitely caters to and has the preppy feel of the "Westside". But that is NOT a bad thing. In fact, I love the little NW Crossing business area. And if I had the $$$ and could convince my wife to move, I'd be quite happy living over here. All that aside, this little cafe is quite deceiving in size. Upon entering, one is struck by how roomy it really is. And during the warmer months, I am sure the patio seating is quite pleasant. I really grooved on the upscale decor and and feel of the place. Not posh or ritzy. But definitely different from your typical Mexican food establishment. Making a beeline for the restroom, I was pleased at the cleanliness. And for those who are germ-a-phobes (like myself) you need not open the door to get out with paper towel in hand....trying to make the 3 point shot from the doorway. This place has cool little foot cup things to pull the door open with your toe! Okay, so we were promptly seated in a corner booth. Chips and salsa were there in moments. Along with a dish of warm re-fried beans. YUM. It was biting cold out last Saturday and that hit the spot right away. I noticed a gal dining on a bowl of what appeared to be a delicious looking soup and I inquired about it. She was very pleasant and I opted to go for a cup myself. It was a chicken soup and oh man....when it came out.....it was all I could do to eat like a civilized person. I so wanted to tip that cup back and just chug down the broth once all the yummy bites were gone. Son went for the breakfast chorizo burrito. Wife had a taco. I went for pork enchilada. Presentation was fantastic! Food was delicious. Price? Uh...well....it's not cheap on the Westside!!! And portions are not what you normally expect from Mexican food places that typically serve you a platter of food. Still, for the atmosphere and quality of food, I'd go back here in a heartbeat. It's not that I felt ripped off. This really is a step above your typical Mexican food restaurant. I've since heard they have some killer margaritas, a table side guacamole that is to die for AND that their happy hour specials can be quite reasonable. Maybe we'll be back soon to celebrate then.

Very friendly service seated us right away without a reservation. Catered to unique requests on the salad. The cessation was a bit odd but the pork shank was awesome. Overall a good experience

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
