This restaurant is truly impressive. The burger is the best I've ever had. EVER. And the interior is spectacular. The owner truly has done an amazing job. We'll back.

We ate here august 23, 2014. Fairly new place in Ashland. Eclectic menu for sure. It was a perfect evening as to temperature (around 80 degrees F and a very light to no breeze so we ate creek side. The truffle egg toast was interesting but the bread could have been half as thick in my opinion. The bruschetta with asparagus and truffle oil was good. My son and I split an appetizer of grilled and cheese filled jalapeño poppers which were great, not too hot and had a nice smoky flavor to the peppers. I had the small side salad with my main course. which was good. Our son had the bacon cheeseburger and loved it. My wife had the fish special, a white fish poached in white wine with a creamy polenta she really liked. I had a steak, which I ordered medium rare, it was very rare when first presented but our waitress took it back to the kitchen for a few more minutes grilling quickly and with no hesitation. Then it was cooked perfectly. They did not do desserts so we got something at the OSF theaters as we had a play that evening. Several other interesting menu items I would have liked to try. We will be back.

My new favorite local restaurant! Great atmosphere and DELICIOUS food! By far the best place to get a burger in Ashland AND with the option of getting gluten free bread. I'll be sure to frequently return.

Cannot speak for the meals but ordered the charcuterie board for two and it was ridiculously overpriced for what you get. The waiter said it came with a variety of meats, bread, and fruit. What came was a total of 4 thin slices of salami and about one bites worth of prosciutto. This is considered a meat board?? And as far as the sides go we got 4 slices of bread that were so small that it only totaled one regular slice of table bread, and a sprinkle of 6 blueberries made up the "fruit " portion of the board. They could at least give you more bread to give the illusion that they were feeding you more! Ha. Definitely plan on picking up a burger at Louie's next door after you leave here because you will leave hungry!

Came in for lunch on Thursday Sat outside nice table by the walking path . Our Server, (who seemed a little spacey) , brought us out waters and asked if we had any questions about the menu Well we hadn't ordered drinks yet?? So I ordered iced tea and Jim club soda I ordered the Italian panini with fries and Jim had the polish with a salad I also ordered a side salad . We sat out and enjoyed the weather our server came out with my side salad which I ate immediately It was nice greens with a couple of tomatoes and some blue cheese crumbles and some pickles onions. Quite good. A couple minutes later she brings out our sandwiches and Jim who was suppose to have a salad with his had fries and I had a salad and was suppose to have fries We switched it up ourselves no worries . My panini was very good nice toasted bread with cheese Italian meats and some gardinar Jim's polish was excellent homemade sausage . So we are finished and ask for the check our server brings it out we put a cc in and another server cones over and clears some plates and takes. The payment So our server comes back and puts ours on the table I pick it up to sign and it's not our bill or cc. It was the table next to us We finally get our bill and pay. Had very good food only issue our sever a little lost

After walking all over the sweet downtown we settled on Salame for their menu. The waiter was attentive and offered the better Chianti (by the glass) - a good choice. The deviled eggs were nicely zippy. The monkey bread was crunchy as well as soft with Brie. The Caesar salad had good dressing and crisp romaine. The mac and cheese (forgive this mix of foods - my daughter was voting) was soft and cheesy - a huge portion quite enough to share. I would gladly come here again for a casual inexpensive dinner along the river though I agree with other reviewers that there are imperfections.

Not good. I ordered the Mac and cheese. It was worse than Kraft. I can't believe I paid $13 for that. My friend ordered the Cobb salad and that was also a disappointment. If you're hungry, don't eat here. Not worth the money.

The review below where the owner ended up cussing at the patrons is spot on. Not only does she lack ethics in her own establishment, she also enjoys using belligerent profanities when dealing with other businesses. What a classless miserable human being. The sandwiches are lame too.

Meats and cheeses are great. The bruschetta is incredible. Beet salad and panini is a perfect pair. The beers are good, the wines are great and the atmosphere is all that is Ashland. I love the way it's set up and the option for creek side seating makes it a must! Start with the pistachios and you can't go wrong from there

The prices are way out of line with the servings and the quality of food. We usually try a variety of dishes and split everything. The beet salad was tasty enough, but the serving was so meager we thought it was a joke. The service was average. Would I go back? No. There are too many other places in town that offer better food for better prices.

Been here several times now and every time it's good!!! I love the decor, very large space with killer brick walls. I have ordered a few of the bruschetta, the one with olive tapenade is my favorite so far, but the garlic confit was also so good! My friend got the cheeseboard and loved it! She even had enough to take home. The panini with mozzarella is good but a little bland, and the grilled cheese was legit! I haven't had any cocktails yet, but I will next time!!!

Nice atmosphere, quick service, and friendly staff. Food was excellent and well cooked. Would recommend for a light meal with drinks. It's more of a casual gathering type of place. Drinks are a tad on the string side, but I imagine that will get better with time.

The starts and salad were good but the " show" was definitely not warranting an encore. Entrees were lacking flavor. It honestly felt like food was previously frozen and than microwaved.

I am guessing Salame is brand new, because they had a really hard time with our order. We waited 20 minutes to get our wine and another forty five minutes to get our food, at which point we had to run out of the restaurant because we were running late for a play (they had told us we would have plenty of time to eat). We had to take most of our food to go, didn't get a couple of the items we had ordered, and got a meat plate instead of a cheese plate. This was after we had been told that they were out of several things we had wanted on the menu. The only reason I'd give them two stars instead of one is because the food we did receive was fairly tasty. I'd recommend holding off on going to Salame until they have a few months to sort out things in the kitchen. On the plus side, our waitress was really apologetic and gave us a discount, but as it is, we won't be visiting for a while.

Ordered dinner,Took way to long for the first wrong order to arrive. Then what followed definately was not worth the money. The name says it all, SO- LAME.

I know this place is fairly new, but even after giving it a well over a month to adjust, they still had many kinks to work out. The napkins looked like they were recycled dish rags and the servers still had some training to do. The way they chose to display the menu was tacky as well. For the prices they want to charge, I wasn't impressed. The atmosphere is odd and doesn't fit their pricing. It doesn't seem like it's in the right location because it's next to a pub and a diner type of restaurant. I think they'd have a better chance in being sustainable if they lowered their prices and didn't try to come off as a high-end restaurant.

This is my second great experience at Salame. The first time I sat outdoors on the creek side patio which was wonderful. The server was knowledgable and helped us pick the perfect white wine for a hot summer day, she even let us sample a couple of options. We ordered the cheese plate, olives, tuna tower and beet salad, all of which were delicious and beautifully plated. On my second visit I sat inside in the simple yet very tasteful dining room. Again the server was very friendly and knowledgable and suggested a truly wonderful red wine. The food was amazing!!! Love the fact that on both visits we could be leisurely and enjoy each bite. Salame is the BEST new restaurant to hit Ashland in a very long time! (Could compete with the best of Portland any day !!) Cheers to the chef!

Needed a quick lunch and stopped at salame. Great service. Beautiful seating out back. Fantastic panini (I had chicken and my wife had mozzarella and pesto) highly recommended! Only small weak spot is complementary pasta salad which is overly sauced, so skip that. We're going back again today for more!

This was my first time at this new restaurant and wine bar on the plaza. We loved it. We started with two glasses of Italian wine. Although we are near to many Oregon wineries, the focus here is on Italy. The server was very knowledgable about the wines having lived in Italy for six years. She steered us exactly in the right direction. We ordered the cheese plate and chose three from a good selection of local favorites, including Rogue Creamery Blue and Humboldt Fog. They were served with a nice bread and condiments. We then moved on to two types of bruschetta. Both were extremely well seasoned with lots of flavor and served on a crispy crostini toasted to perfection and nice and crunchy. Finally, we ordered the special panini - a pulled pork and slaw sandwich on focaccia. The meat was tender, basking in a tasty barbecue sauce and complimented with a sweet carrot slaw. Delicious. This is a wonderful addition to the Ashland dining scene. Creek side dining is available outside, but we chose to stay in the spacious and comfortable dining room. Service was great, and the price was right. Just $65 for two people including two glasses of wine each. Definitely make this a part of your Ashland experience.

We stopped in for an after dinner drink. So fun! It was a quiet night, but the bartender, Simon went out of his way to be hospitable. Another server, Sarah, came by and gave us helpful tips for our visit. We made sure to return for dinner the next day. Again we were delighted by two more staff members and their lively personalities as well as the attentive service. My husband had meatballs and I had the best burger (the meat is phenomenal) of my life. Truly good food in a casual atmosphere. We can't wait to go back. On a side note: we were charmed by the live music on Saturday 8/22. We had to dash off to a play and didn't get their name. We could have listened all night. Two thumbs up!!

Quite a disappointment. I'd been to Ashland the year before and had joyfully stumbled upon Salame and ordered an incredible dish: fennel stuffed with sausage and polenta on the side. I also had some delicious bruschetta with peach and ricotta with a balsamic reduction. Unfortunately those were out of season, more of a fall thing I guess. So when I came back a year later, a week or two before we'd came the previous year I was very disappointed that my favorite meal I'd waited a year to have was gone. So I had some bland meatballs because that was the only thing that caught my eye on the menu. Oh well. Maybe next year...

Do not eat here. The food tasted like a college student's first attempt at cooking. We both ordered the "Lemon Sunflower Seed Pesto Pasta," and were told 15 minutes later by our waitress that the item was no longer on the menu, and they had already made us spaghetti with marinara instead, would we be ok with that? Trying to be gracious, we said okay. What came out tasted like Prego on generic brand spaghetti with some waxy/stale slices of parm on top. My husband suffered through it, but I told the waitress I'd like to order something else. I was still in the mood for pasta, so I ordered the mac n' cheese. That dish tasted like Kraft mac and cheese gussied up with a link of Johnson's brats and some diced tomatoes on top. Each of these dishes cost $15. They should be embarrassed to send any of this out of a professional kitchen. After the mix-up with our original order, we thought that at least some of the food should have been comped, but nothing was.

The service is terrible and its expensive with small bites. The décor is great with old brick walls, but nothing to ever come back to. When we raised our issues to management, she told us we could leave and that they were doing a great job. I would not come back.

First off, was brought here by the private facebook page adding members to boycott Salami Restaurant. After hearing about the atrocious experiences the locals have had at this establishment, I felt COMPELLED to leave an unbiased review of my personal experience, as well as my girlfriend's. Salame is a beautiful restaurant that seemed to be right up my alley for "girls night out." Wow, what a staggering mistake that was to assume it would be a great "tapas/cocktail" experience. When we walked in, we were ignored while awkwardly standing at the door for literally five minutes. While it was during prime dinner hours (that being said, it was barely half full), being ignored by staff walking right by us to other tables without even saying something along the lines of "hi, we'll be right with you," is nothing I've ever experienced. The host (or server? I'm not sure) looked annoyed when she finally huffed up to us, (to the point that one of my girlfriend's whispered, "do we need a reservation? What the hell?") rather then greet us, she asked in a very exasperated tone of voice, "how many?" Wow, what a way to feel welcome... We all kind of hesitated before following her into the dining room to be sat. With a first interaction like that from staff, it's really hard to recover from bad service, but we were willing to let it go at this point. What a joke. We weren't offered waters, and were continued to be ignored for another TEN minutes!!! Our drink orders finally arrived and while the cocktails were in fact tasty, the service continued to be frosty and unattentive. What a disappointment, especially considering it was my suggestion we go here for not only girls' night, but to celebrate another friends birthday that same night. We ordered cheese and meat plates and were appalled when they finally arrived ANOTHER 25 minutes later!!! While the presentation was thoughtful, for the PRICE!!!!???? We thought it was a joke!!!! A few small pieces of cheese and meat scattered on a board? We had a bunch of ladies in our party so I would assume they would bring extra bread. We were coldly informed "more bruschetta costs extra." No problem, whatever, just bring us more bread!! (Can't stand being "nickels and dimed" at restaurants btw) We had to ask another TWO times before it arrived, crunchy and stale. (The original bread that came with the boards was golden toasted like crostini should be... It was like she was annoyed that we were pestering her and as a result brought us bread that had been previously toasted and sitting out for hours. Yes, I'm complaining about crostini, and It might seem petty, but really, we just wanted to get what we were gladly willing to pay for minus the rude attitude. At that point, we all considered it to be a wash, and decided to go elsewhere... We ended up at the Brickroom where we also had to wait a bit for drinks, however at least we were acknowledged warmly and seated immediately with excellent service. Having read the other reviews on this yelp site... I can honestly say I'm not really surprised... Although some of them do some seem pretty bad, I believe them. It seems the responding review chastising the other negative reviews was written by the owner Anna... I'm not sure what her last name is, however I found many of her points to be highly hypocritical! She talks about questioning humanity and worrying about her employees being able to keep their jobs in a successful restaurant? Maybe you should hire good servers who actually give a crap about giving good service and take accountability for your own faults. Over charging (ridiculous prices for pre packaged cheese and meat) for lack luster food and horrendous service lies on your shoulders. Also, several of my girlfriends who had been to salami before mentioned the fact that the owner is known for being constantly drunk and extremely rude to patrons who annoy her. Sounds like her horrible attitude is rubbing off on her servers. And my goodness, seeing those photos of screen captured texts from another reviewer that are obviously from the management of salami calling the reviewer a "crack head" and saying "I'll f'ing find you!" Wow!!! Instead of the owner trying to make herself look like a patron saint who wants to take care of her business and her employees, she just made her self look like an unstable alcoholic who has zero tact in communication and doesn't care about her employees or her business - very hypocritical. I will not be back to this business, and with all of the other wonderful new restaurants in town, I will let everyone know to avoid this overpriced, lackluster food and atrocious service. My vote will be to boycott!!!

Oh my god. Literally the worst meal I have ever had. Meatballs: disgusting, undercooked. Caesar salad dressing I think was poorly salted seminal fluid. Charcuterie plate tasted like hog sweat. Monkey bread was stupid and gross. Honestly it sucks. Owner was wasted. Server was rude. Music not bad, atmosphere decent. I just hope I don't wake up with food positioning because I've never eaten anything so dirty-tasting.

Food sucked. Prices were way too high for what we got, and we were only allowed to order from the "happy hour" menu because that was all they served at that time. We would have left if we would have known that but we had already have ordered drinks and figured why not. We left hungry and unhappy.

Great place; creekside tables; the best meatball sandwich in Oregon; and a superb beet salad with a warm goat cheese surprise. My wife is a beet salad aficionado and she gave it five stars! In the immortal words of the Village People, Go There!

Tonight was our second visit. Enjoyed a cheese plate, soup, salad, and pasta and it was very good! The server checked on us several times and was very friendly. We will come back for a third trip next time we get to Ashland.

I have never written a bad review but.. I would give 0 stars here if possible.. this review is long but says a lot about this business. We have apparently not been the first people to witness these kinds of actions and as a local of Ashland, I know that this is not the norm for the great restaurants that are a part of this community.. I am quite appalled by what I have witnessed. Where do I start.. Firstly, we ordered a drink that had tonic in it, when we tasted it it had no carbonation so we politely asked the server (Thalia) to check with the bartender and asked for a new one. The server came back again with a drink and unfortunately it still had no carbonation.. our server then told us she personally saw it come out of the spout for tonic and implied that we were lying to her. I told her that she should check with the bartender because we didn't want to waste drinks. She brought a third drink and we told her it was good (it still had no carbonation, we just did not want to deal with how she was treating us or be a big pain) she then proceeded to tell us that 'the second drink was actually the first drink so that is why the third drink was probably right. There is more.... Our server brings us our tab and tells us she can split it up if there are less than 6 people, we have 5 at ours (3 originally and 2 others who joined later). Our server asks who had 3 beers, someone replies I ordered 3 but unfortunately I only received 2 of them and we are wanting to leave so I only had the 2. In a snide voice she says "okayyyyy then -- 2!". She then goes on to say does anyone else have any drinks that they don't want to pay for or that didn't get served to you. My mouth dropped as I looked at her. She looks at me and says "can I help you miss blinky blinky". At this point in time we are asking her to not be rude. She then proceeds to use cuss words and says fine just walk out on your tab then. We tell her we want to pay our tab and that we will split it up. She walks off. There is more.... I walk over to the bar to ask if there is a manager or the owner that we may speak to. A blonde haired lady doesn't even acknowledge me, walks out to our table and comforts her server asking her whats wrong. We say that we would just like to pay our tab. (This blonde haired lady turns out to be the owner, Anna) I am thinking, finally we can get this situated. She starts asking who has what and gets very flustered about splitting the bill and says this is why we DO NOT split any tabs here. I then make a comment that I thought it was fine as long as it was less than 6 people. She then looks at me and says your'e a b**ch and now I know why the server had so much trouble with you. I said excuse me... She then walks over to the bench I am sitting on gets physically in my face and tells me "get the F out of my restaurant". I am at a loss for words. I felt physically scared that she was going to HIT ME! She finally backs away and then follows me all the way out of the door still yelling in my face. My friend had her 6 YEAR OLD daughter there and asked her to please stop as she did not want her daughter hearing or seeing the things this lady was doing. She then tells her to "get the F out". She asks for her card back and the owner says "no, you're paying, get out now!". Lastly there is one person trying to pay for two things that they ordered and the owner or server tried charging the entire bill to her card. I have left out many other remarks that were said to us as this post is long enough already.. I DO NOT recommend this place. Horrible hospitality, servers and owners that cuss at you and physically make you scared... I am still at a loss for words. I am hoping that this place will not be open in Ashland much longer. I have no comments on the food, but at our table we had ordered a mojito, a vodka tonic, and a vodka soda.. these all tasted horrible.

I have added an extra star because it IS on the creek. And that's always nice. But I have to say, the staff seemed pretty bored and unenthusiastic. The food wasn't memorable. And the appetizer portion of deviled eggs, we had to sort of giggle at. Three halves? lol. You had to boil 2 eggs to make the dish, but you kept the extra half? Kind of weird.

This place is great! The food is prepared well and the chef is very creative with his flavor profiles. The Oregon pear martini is out if this world! I highly recommend this place!~

I stopped by here to get a small bite to eat and ordered the prosciutto bruchetta. It was a good mix of salty flavor from the balsalmic vinegar and prosciutto and sweet flavor added by the thinly sliced pear on top. The atmosphere is nice, the music adds to the relaxed feel, and for a hot day in Ashland, the air conditioning was a plus... I would definitely come back and try more of their plates.

  • Robin S.

The fact that the food was good when it finally arrived could not make up for the total disorganization and length of time it took for food and drink to arrive. And that was on a slow night. We waited 20 minutes for cocktails that were mediocre and 45 minutes for appetizers. Someone else's food was delivered to our table twice. We watched basically the same scenario happen to the table next to us. And be forewarned, their desserts come from Mix next door where if you buy them directly yourself they are half the price. (Um, ten dollars for a chocolate tart? Seriously?) Again, the food was good but in a sea of great Ashland restaurants I wouldn't eat here again. This place needs to get their sh*t together big time.

Excellent! Kids had the burgers and gave two thumbs up. I had several appetizers and I just can't say enough, not a morsel was left on my plates. I'd definitely come back here!!!

The ambiance of this place is great. It's kind of a rustic cozy aesthetic with nice lighting. The building is beautiful on its own but the owner also added a nice feeling with the decor. The food was also great. Nice servers, good wine, and good options for gluten-free if needed. We got a warm pear salad and a gluten-free panini. Both were very tasty and tastefully presented. I hope this place thrives!

First of all - the drinks are not consistent. One night it is "this" another night, it is "that". They have a great bar menu but if it tastes completely different each time, what is the point of having a menu? Secondly, the caesar salad is completely STUPID! Not one drop of parmesan cheese and the "crouton" was a semi-hard hunk of doughy-(flavorless) bread that just had no other place on the menu for the chef. They included a disgusting, runny anchovie (without mentioning this!!) on the side of the stupid pile of romaine -- splattered (not tossed) with some kind of dressing (NOT traditional caeser but some kind of ranch)... IT SUCKED! The service was poor, the drinks were not as described, the hamburger was raw and way to over-seasoned.... the french fries were FANTASTIC. This place has a great location and barely passable anything else. WTF people??! You SHOULD do so much better for the tourists that support the Ashland community! I am embarrassed for YOU!

I really enjoy Salame. The decor is cute, and made from recovered and upcycled materials, the cocktails are clever, and you can order as much or as little food as you are in the mood for since they have a combination of small plates and full size entrees. Also, they always bring water for my dog when we sit on the patio.

  • Lexie V.

Decent cheese plate, cute loft-style, exposed brick chic ambiance, decent service. BUT: seriously bad "wine by the glass" issues (admittedly after dining at New Sammy's before coming here and partaking in their wine recommendation, most wines would pale in comparison)... however mine was near rancid while my friend's was also not drinkable and she ordered a different varietal! For a bar, they really should fix that, especially in wine country. Last, there is a large, odd empty space in front of the bar that stood out as strange to our group. We couldn't figure out why it wasn't being used in any functional way and it threw the vibe off. Put a table or a dance floor and make this place sing! I would come back for a BEER and give this place another shot.

I got the asparagus and brie bruschetta, and my boyfriend got the chipotle deviled eggs with crispy pancetta. Although the pancetta was not actually crispy, it was still tasty and enjoyable. The bruschetta was good as well, tasting the asparagus for a long time.... and then finally the brie at the very end, on good crusty bread. We sat by the Ashland Creek outside, and enjoyed a couple playing an accoustic guitar and a flute. Very enjoyable!
