This is a quaint and wholesome deli, very comfortable and welcoming, situated across the street from OBU. I will disagree with Chuck B. and venture a guess that college students on a budget would chose five dollar footlongs over $6 artisenal sandwiches. A sanwhich, chip, and drink runs around $8, while well worth it, not exactly the typical splurge for the late-teen to mid 20s set. In fact, it is the choice, even after the lunch rush, of working adults from phone sales persons to nurses to Shawnee society ladies. The Reuben was really good -- though portioned for those with less gusto in their consumption than I -- next time I'll double meat it. The soup was fantastic -- see picture. The tea selection includes sweet, unsweetened, blackberry, and apricot -- blackberry was the besssst! Now, their cookies... are insanely good. And not just a little good, but totally game changing. The frosted pecan sugar cookie is like a drug. Instantly addictive -- I got a dozen of mixed pecan and creamcheese frosted on my way out! This deli is unique, delicious, and comfortable. Highly recommended!

I have had a variety of sandwiches here and they are average 3 star sandwiches. The soups are very good and definitely homemade, I would give them 4 stars. The cookies are what you definitely want to get at this place. They are absolutely delicious and 5 stars for sure.

A very mediocre deli...Without the convenient location to the local university this place would surely not exist. Very pedestrian offerings - all on paper plates no less and with no service. People seem to rave about their cookies and dishes but they are just adequate. Thankfully, Shawnee has a much better alternative in the way of a local deli in Benedict Street Marketplace, which stands heads above this cult of mediocrity.

Not very impressed by Chicago Street. The food was overpriced for the quality and quantity given. I would not recommend dining here. Unless you enjoy small, overpriced portions, then by all means go ahead.

Oh my God the cookies! And the iced tea! Those things are, of course, secondary, but well worth the visit. Chicago Deli is the hopping lunch place in Shawnee, especially for people who work across the street at OBU. Amazing sandwiches -- I love their Ruben! Good homemade soups, too. Wednesday used to be quiche day -- don't know if it is anymore. I would go every Wednesday in hopes of getting some quiche before it sold out, but would always arrive too late :( One Wednesday I walked in and the woman behind the counter called out to me "I saved you a piece of quiche!" And she had. And it was good.
