Not really any veg options on the menu. Staff was wonderful and attentive. They made me mushroom and onion enchiladas with ranchero sauce, with no cheese. It was a little oily for me, but I've cut oil out of my diet mostly. Delicious. I miss enchiladas out. I'll be back!

Food is ok. It would be better if they would prepare it as it was ordered. Wait staff is a group of newbies. The refried beans have a lot of chili powder. The best think here is the sopapillas.

The only reason I've been here like a zillion times is because my grandma swears that they have the best tortilla soup on earth. I don't know about that but I know my grandpa hates this place. The prices are slightly higher than other places around town and they have chain-restaurant quality food. We ended up here on father's day and apparently a chef was a no show so service was slloooow. We had nearly 4 baskets of chips before our poor waitress got our food out. It was meh. Not anything to write home about.

Had dinner with my husband, Bob and our friends Bill and Vickie tonight. The food was outstanding and the service was great. We think they are the best tex-mex restaurant in Oklahoma. Thank you for a superb meal. . .

I will preface this review by saying that I grew up eating at Monterey's, even before it was Little Mexico, in and around the Houston area. Maybe times change or recipes change, but this place simply wasn't as good as the times I've visited down there even in the recent past. For 1 PM, in the midst of the lunch crunch, it was pretty quiet so I wasn't sure what to make of that, but I did get my chips and salsa quickly enough. I ordered the Fajita enchiladas, usually the best of both worlds, but in this instance it just didn't live up to what I'd had before. Using flour tortillas instead of corn for enchiladas has to be a sin of some sort, and this place is guilty of it, though the beef was seasoned well and the chile con queso topping was done well. The rice had the 'proper' chicken stock taste to it and wasn't overwhelmed with other vegetables, though the refried beans were somewhat lacking in flavor (lack of bacon grease has to constitute another sin of sorts). While the entire meal took about 45 minutes from start to finish, it shouldn't have. In my time there, only one other pair of people came in and they were dealt with several times - and I only had one basket of chips throughout. The service was friendly, though it did leave something to be desired. In all, I don't think I'll come back to this one again. This is the only Monterey's I've tried in Tulsa, so I might try another before deciding to swear them off in this part of the world.

I decided to want tacos, I guess in this part of Oklahoma, that's what people do, by the count of the Mexican restaurants in the area. This must be a newer area. No one has reviewed this place before. Or maybe I'm dumb enough to have tried it. I hate to criticize places so much when I am an out of towner, but I tell it like I see it. I ordered fajita tacos, 2 chicken, one beef, fried. I received fajita tacos, with the meat combined. It was fine, I ate it. They tasted flat. Also, they were oddly fried. It looked like they were put on a dry skillet, and browned in places. The salsa was pretty good, a bit kick to it. It was served with chips. No cheese on the tacos, none. the rice was almost tasteless, and the beans were more like pork and beans. Maybe that is more authentic Mexican? I don't know, the closest I've been to Mexico has been Brownsville, Texas. It was okay, I ate it, taking half back to the hotel, to eat for tomorrow's dinner. I was expecting fried tacos like they serve at Lobito's in Independence, MO. Not browned, dry browned tacos without much flavor. The service was immaculate. But, at one point, the music was turned up ungodly loud, and the servers gathered around a man's table to sing him happy birthday. Then, they turned the music back down. I think everyone in the restaurant looked at everyone else, questioning what was going on. Obnoxious, was what I heard a patron say. Flat food, tasteless rice, pork and beans. 2 stars. I should've gone to Baja Jacks down the street. Want to try a different place each night, that is my goal while traveling in Oklahoma.
