I used to eat here rather frequently as I travel through Okmulgee quite often. I really really don't like buffets, but in the interest of saving time I sometimes suffer through them. The first few times I ate here I thought it was rather good, the food seemed fresh and they had a much better selection without all the chicken. They used to put shrimp on the steam table during the day and recently it has only been out for the evening service. (I get through this area at varying times of the day and I have ate here mid day and in the evening) I do like the really thin noodles that they have. There are two things that have troubled me and I will not stop here anymore. The first was when I asked the lady for some fresh jalapeno pork to replace the stuff on the table that was there since the noon service. It was all dried up around the edges and looked terrible. When I requested this, she gave me a very strained look and shuffled off to have to cook make some more. It was very obvious to me that she didn't like my request one bit. I think she felt that I just needed to man up and eat what was left in the interest of her profitability. I waited patiently for her to return with the fresh food and to my utter amazement, took the fresh food and dumped it right on top of the old and mixed it up!!! The straw that broke the camels back however was when I noticed that during busy times of the day they mark the restrooms out of order so that people won't use them and they will not have to clean them. I arrived one day right before the noonday rush and the bathrooms were open where I washed my hands and sat down to eat. Upon leaving I noticed that all the bathrooms had an out of order sign on them. I don't know, maybe this business model works in Shanghai. I wait to get to Tulsa before I eat now.

All the reviews for this place were spot on. They only take cash and as John H said, all the disposable plates, bowls, utensils, etc. should tip you off as to how bad this place really is. I would only hope that at some point this place might dispose of themselves and shut down. I am pretty sure that an untrained primate could cook better and run a better restaurant.

Food was ok. They seemed to have resolved the foam dishware issues. I counted 8 different kinds of chicken, 1 beef entree, and zero pork. The server was nice, but maybe over attentive. I might eat here again, not sure.

I don't like to eat at buffet's so I can't comment on that, but I do order off the menu for take out and the Chicken with Garlic Sauce and the Beef and Broccoli are very good!

Hunan's expanded the dining area and added one more buffet service. I have eaten in a few times and never noticed any children at play since the expansion. Although they have added new tables and chairs, you still have to eat off of foam plates and plastic flatware. This is no longer my favorite Chinese Buffet in Okmulgee, but I still order take out when I am in the area.

Hunans used to be the only Chinese restaurant with cheap prices & good food. NOW, they have upped their prices some & expanded seating to compete with Hy-Lee on Wood Drive & China Buffet on 6th street. Their food is now very mediocre far from the best. Their buffet is limited & when items become empty no matter how many times you ask them to refill them they don't. I went today for the 1st & last time in 3yrs & must I say I should've have saved my money or went down the road to Hy-Lee. Don't let the usual customers fool you. Hunan's is no where near worth your money. This review is based upon the 21 years I have resided in Okmulgee.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
