This place i had been wanting to try for a while, it lists itself as a "Irish Pub" and surprisingly in Oklahoma City the places I had been to that labeled themselves an "Irish Pub" I found very lacking, the one's I had been to while seemed to have the drinking down pat they seem to be missing what makes an Irish pub a welcoming place to be, good Irish cuisine like Sheperd's Pie and also games to socialize and hang out! Such as darts and pool tables! This place is located on Brodway extension just as you are entering Edmond area, the place from the outside looks like a pretty standard resteraunt, but when I went inside I was pleasantly surprised The decor of the place looks like very British/UK/Ireland type setting, lotta little knicknack's on the walls, dark coloring on the inside, the waitresses that greeted me were very nice and helpful Now the most important stuff and the main reason for me going to this place... the food! Now I will say this... having lived in Los Angeles and visited New York, I have had Sheperd's Pie before and I to be honest I had high expectations of what it should look like and how it should taste. I also got to try Scotch Eggs which were awesome! When the Shepeards Pie came out I got to admit... I was a somewhat dissapointed at the presentation, it looked NOTHING like what I was accustomed to. The way it was presented it looked more like separate side dishes than a comprehensive casserole style dish (which is what I was used to) but... The food was AMAZING! The quality of everything I ordered was very well cooked and seasoned perfectly! I also got a baked potatoe and okra along with it which tasted very good as well! So... although it didn't look the way I was used to, the food is REALLY GOOD unlike some other places I have tried in OKC Onto the games & socializing... there is a bar of course in this place which you might expect, and in the back there IS a game room, which DID consist of darts and a pool table, now one thing I think that can be improved in this place is the dart boards... I do not know if it's something just with Oklahoma but every bar/pub I have visited seems to have the same style dartboard...which is made of plastic and has holes in them to grab the plastic darts. But what would be great is to have tournament style dart boards where you have metal tips and the style which consist of the wooden dart boards If Dan McGuiness did that I would consider it the Irish pub to go to in OKC! All in all... a good place to have a bite to eat & hang out!

This is a *BAR ONLY* review. Anywho, let's talk about the positives of Dan McGuinness first. The atmosphere was awesome. I came on a relatively slow Sunday. There were only 3 people at the bar top and a handful of people sprinkled throughout the rest of the bar area. Every single TV in the bar had an NFL football game on. If you live in that area and just wanted to go watch some different football games at the same time, McGuinness might just be your place. The decor of the bar was nice too. It had more a "sports bar" feel to it than a lot of bars I've been in...even the ones that call themselves a "sports bar." Now, for the negatives. Remember how I said, "there were only 3 people at the bar top and a handful of people sprinkled throughout the rest of the bar area." Well, guess how long it took for the bartender...or anyone for that matter...to check and see if I wanted anything? 15 minutes! 15 minutes...in a bar...that only had 8 people in it. It was whilst I was looking around that I noticed that a lot of the other fellow patrons had little or no drink left in their glasses, as well. When the bartender came out...I was ignored in favor of the bartender's friends who had came in after me and also sat at the bar top. After another 5 minutes, the bartender finally came up to me and asked me if I wanted anything. I was tempted to leave, but by that time...I was so irate, I wanted alcohol...in my body...immediatedly. Luckily, they had Washita Wheat on draft. I ordered a couple of those and proceeded to decompress. McGuinness only had about 8-12 beers on draft that I noticed. They have a full bar, a special nitro tap for Guinness and related dark beers, as well as one of those Jägermeister machines. Aside from the having some of the always delightful Washita Wheat, it was just a lame experience for me. Maybe one day I'll go back, but it's doubtful.

This place may seem fine if you are an American, but the food is no where near English food. It is good but not English. Stay away from the Bangers... Horrific is putting it lightly.. Inedible. The service was fantastic and we were treated well.. I am told the Moore store had good bangers so not sure if this was abad bunch or what? The first order was replaced but just as bad. The smell was even off. They need a new supplier and an an actual English person to approve them before serving to the unwitting public..

Stopped by on a Thursday night and it was fairly busy. They had a few specials for domestics but Mustang...from Mustang, Oklahoma...is not considered a domestic in Edmond, Oklahoma. That was a bit annoying but not uncommon, I guess. They seem to have themed happy hours and events for each night of the week which looked pretty cool. Unfortunately, the ventilation in the place was a bit poor. It's a smoking bar and I don't smoke so it was a bit overwhelming.

I think a good Irish pub is hard to find in the OKC metro. Out of all the places I've tried, Dan McGuinness is my favorite so far. I went on a Monday night so the restaurant was mostly empty. Our waitress was the sweetest girl ever. She had a smile on her face the whole night and I think that makes a big difference. I was looking forward to trying the Shepherd's pie. Of course you have to order that when you're in an Irish establishment. When the plate was brought out, my friend and I felt let down. It was just a blob of mashed potatoes next to a pile of meat. However, our feelings changed once we took that first bite. Whatever seasoning they used in the meat, it was fantastic! Next time I come back, that's what I'm ordering! Dan McGuinness has lots of things going on. They have live music and specials on food which changes from month to month. Burgers were only $2.99 the night I was there. Other specials include: *Wed - All you can eat snow crab legs $24.99 6:30pm-10:30pm *Thurs - fish and chips $6.99 all day *Lunch specials 10:30am-2pm *Happy hour pub grub is 4-7pm everyday

drinks are a lil pricey and the ones that are not, seem to be going up in price. they have very delicious food and some sort of entertainment on most nights. karaoke is thursdays and trivia is wednesdays and i think there is live music on weekends.

Dan's is a great place to go relax with friends. There is a non smoking section but if you're planning on having a deep conversation with someone in the evening, you're at the wrong place! They have trivia once a week as well as live performers. I personally adore the fries!! The best I've ever had. This bar is often overlooked and it's a great one!
