My favorite Mexican restaurant in Claremore! Chantal, Francisco & Amber are so nice! They know people by name and give great service. The food is excellent. The salsa is great because they use cilantro. Not all Mexican places do and I LOVE cilantro. You gotta try this place. You'll be hooked like me!

El Maguey's is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The chips and salsa are good and come with your meal. I love the chicken taco salad and the stuffed avocado (tilapia and avocado). My wife loves to order the shrimp tacos or fajitas. So far everything we have tried has been very good. The kids just wish the shrimp tacos were on their menu too! I recommend this place to anyone looking for some good Mexican food in the area.

Pollo Adobe was delicious! Salsa was great! Hubby didn't care for steak burrito though, but it was huge. All in all a pleasant surprise for a strip mall restaurant. We'll be back if in the area.

Soggy chile rellenos drowned in cheese. Chemical-tasting fried apple burrito. Bland salsa. Nice staff, but won't be returning!

I ate here today for lunch. I had the fish tacos. They were pretty good, it's kind of ridiculous how they charged me a dollar for a lime. The lime made it a four star. :)

What a great place! We came inconveniently for them, 30 minutes before closing time, yet they seemed just as friendly as ever! They sat us down right as we walked in & were already handing us chips and salsa while we were settling in. It was very quick service and to my own dismay, I spilled my drink and they were quick to help me clean it. The restaurant itself is could use some updating but the staff and food make up for it. I hope to come back soon!

My sis and I came here for lunch on a Saturday--we have been to all the other Mexican places in town and were not impressed with the other places. But El Maguey was actually pretty tasty! The chips were warm and flaky (taste homemade) and the salsa was spicy. The guacomole is great (most Mexican restaurants don't make it right!) I ordered the lunch speedy gonzalez (taco, enchilada and rice) and my sis got the lunch fajitas. Both were around $5, and both were wonderful. They bring out super huge cups and the servers were ready to refill them if you needed a refill. Great staff, great food--if you are looking for a good Mexican place and don't want to drive to Tulsa, this is your place!

This is by far the best mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The servers are very attentive even when they are busy. My family and I are regulars. We no longer get menus and they just ask if we want the regular. I would suggest getting the queso and a chicken burrito bowl(which isn't really a bowl but on a plate with 3 tortillas served on the side)

El Maguey !!! I love this place. A real home cooked Mexican meal for well under $10 a person for dinner. Service and food is constantly great!. My wife and I go their often (more than 3 times a month) and have been regulars for almost a year. Recipes are traditional Tex Mex fare. I would rate their fajitas one of the best (go with the chicken, beef, shrimp and spicy sausage) I've had recently. If you like Guacamole theirs is always good with a lot of Cilantro and Garlic. I recommend you try this if you like good authentic Mexican food.

have gotten take-out from here once. we ordered a combo fajita platter and the meat was DELICIOUS, as well as the chips and salsa. the only downside is that they only gave us TWO tortillas for an entire fajita platter!! so we had to drive back up there and get more :( next time we will order extras.

this is a great restaurant with terrific service! The food is pretty authentic and everything tastes great, but the Cancun salad easily won as the best dish at a table for 9 last night. We will definitely go back!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
