This place is the best bet on i35 in northern Oklahoma. I work up here often, and I've tried the other options... Perfectly acceptable tex mex, cheap lunch specials. Happily lacking that rancid shortening-crusty food warmer element of the less edible tex mex. Unless you've got time to pop into Stillwater, or feel like decent BBQ in Ponca, this is lunch.

This is where my in-laws eat on Friday nights...and have for the past 100 years (at least as long as I've been married). The servers are semi friendly but tend to forget what you tell them. A lot of their food is premade - not fresh made. The taste is good. The can hold a large crowd. They do not serve margaritas here!!! Huge Bummer!!! But, all in all, not a bad place. Would like to see them do more fresh food rather than the premade. Just seems odd for a Mexican place.

We stopped as we were traveling along I 35. We weren't disappointed. Started a great dinner with chips and salsa (the salsa is very tasty and spicy). For our entrees, I had chicken fajitas which were tasty albeit somewhat mild; generous portions. Great rice and refried beans. Guacamole was above average. Husband had the Grande California Burrito with combo steak and chicken: he loved it. Service was friendly. Relatively fast. Clean overall (but I was expecting to be more impressed with the cleanliness due to other poster's comments). Reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend if you want a decent sit down restaurant between OKC and Wichita.

I'm definitely a fan. My wife & I discovered this jewel of a Mexican restaurant just slightly south of Blackwell. Close to interstate. Try the Diablo Tilapia... hot and excellent. We'll definitely stop again our next time through.

OK folks. My spouse & I have NEVER had bad Mexican food in OK. I swear. LosPoltros was no exception. Great value to boot. But I want to ads this caveat----clean, clean, clean. U could seriously eat off the floors. Bathroom clean clean clean.

I was told if I was close to Blackwell to stop and eat Los Potros and I must say it was worth it. Prompt service in every aspect. The food arrived as ordered and pipin hot. I ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla minus the beans. The meal was delish and a good portion. I look forward to my next journey down I35!

Absolutely delicious chile relleno! I try them everywhere I find them on a menu -- & this one ranked close to the top: fresh poblano, creamy cheese & flavorful sauce.

Not too bad if you like frozen then microwaved food & they give you plenty to eat. you do get warm chips & salsa while you wait for your entree, which are very good.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
