Everything was perfect from the atmosphere to the service to the food! Staff is very attentive to the point that our waiter asked the bartender to make my cocktail less sweet, as I was concerned it might be. For starters we had the tartar duo, which was pure perfection. I don't know what they do to their mustard but it's amazing. The same sauce was on my salmon and my husband's chicken was extremely juicy and tender. As a side we got the pickled veggies, also perfect and the staff were even open to suggestions. We finished our meal with the chocolate cherry milkshake and coffee. Our experience was the best we've had in a while and will definitely be back very soon.

Great experience - we will be back me for the pork chop and my bride for the hanger steak. We shared the Kung pao shrimp and loved it. A great plus for Columbus.

Without exaggeration, the worst service I've ever experienced. Food is very subpar for the exorbitant prices they charge as well. If you're looking for a nice night out, please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Your money can better be spent in a place where management actually seems to care about their level of service. On a final note, the bartenders are extremely rude and inattentive. High hopes for this place were dashed on two chances we gave them.

I really want to see this restaurant do well because the owner seems like such a nice man. They do have good beer from both the Cincinnati and Columbus. However, the service brings this establishment down in a big way. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. So if you want to have a good time on a night off, I would recommend that you DO NOT GO to the Whitney House.

I've had this place bookmarked since it opened. Everyone loves it, but they also talk about the crowds, so I was leery. Today Sweetie and I finally thought about brunch around 130, and noticed they had brunch till 3 so we shot up. Very glad we did. The service was great. The decor is classic, and fits into Old Worthington very well. The food was amazing. There's a lot on the menu that I want to try, but I went with the fried bologna. It's made with Waldo meat, but somehow is less greasy. The bun was great, the fried tomato and other toppings worked perfectly, and I may have been moaning while eating it. The thick fries on the side were good too, and there was a nice aioli dip which also worked on the sandwich. Sweetie got the "Ohio Toast" and loved it. The side of bacon was good too. We had planned on getting a cinnamon roll, but were too full. We will be back for that and the other enticing items on their menu. The price was reasonable for the amount and quality, and the whole experience was great.

I was worried about this place at first. I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't know what I was walking into. I came in, by myself, and had a late lunch at the bar. I'm so glad I did. This is the kind of place that makes me glad to be so close - I've indulged on the $7 chicken, the french-press coffee, and a piece of pie on occasion. It's DAMN. GOOD. The menu is not overly full of randomness - they have great selections that are very accessible. I read "hipster upscale" and I guess that fits - the decor feels old, yet polished, the food is refined without being too slap-dash in the pairings. I've only been here for lunch. I've only sat at the bar. And I've only come alone. But seriously, I don't know why, because this place is awesome - I'll have to find a group of people to come back with me.

I don't have anything to complain about my first visit at this new restaurant in my neighborhood. The host was welcoming and was quick to seat us at the Chef's Counter which gives a great view of the kitchen and all the great food that is flowing out to the dining room. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful when suggesting what drinks and food to order. If there was anything that I would mention is that we went at the 7pm on a Saturday so our waitress was busy focusing on the majority of her tables in the main dining room area, she still did a great job but some other people might want more attention. We first ordered some appetizers, the French Fries and the Dip Duo. The dip duo rotates and I believe that day it was a spicy tomato dip and a hummus. Both of them were great and I would like the Spicy tomato dip to be regularly available. When it came to the French Fries though I normally am a huge fan of wedge fries and the bigger the better but these could've been cut just slightly smaller so they could be fried a little bit better. I also ordered a drink from there very appealing drink menu, I ordered The Laura Jean. I had two reasons for choosing this drink - first I have wanted to try a mixed drink with beer in it and second I wanted a more refreshing drink on a hot day. I must stay that it was very refreshing and the wheat flavor of the beer came through well but was not like just drinking a beer. My friend ordered the Amish Brick Chicken and the serving was very large and the quality of the meat was great. I ordered the Faroe Island Salmon which was accompanied with quinoa, tomatoes, and arugula. The fish was cooked perfectly and the combination of quinoa and tomato was so good that I could eaten just tomatoes and quinoa together. Also just as a FYI to anyone wondering, the Seafood Pot Pie is filled with shrimp and scallops, my friend wanted to order it but as she is unable to eat Shrimp she had to pass and order the Amish Brick Chicken instead. I definitely plan to visit again and want to try the different menus for breakfast and brunch. While I like the view of the Kitchen, I would recommend trying to sit near the windows and get a great view of Downtown Old Worthington.

Study the menu, think about how hungry you are and when you get here... You can't pick. I stopped in for brunch. The price is perfect and the sizes are big enough to share which is what I would suggest. The staff is attentive , well trained , and committed to the customer. I plan on coming back many time. Oh and the cocktails are made to perfection. So stop in get an order of the sticky buns and a mimosa!

I just can't stop going here! Went here for brunch recently because I just had to try the ramen with the chili pork. I've been eyeing it for so long. And it was quite tasty and lived up to expectations generally, especially with the addition of some poached eggs (perrrrfect for brunch). Look at the picture--it's so colorful and pretty. It's also a HUGE portion, so excellent for a snack later. The gentleman had the chicken lunch (preparation changes daily) and it was quite a large portion for only being $7. The dish was excellently cooked, with a potato and tomato salad, and a nice tangy reduction of some sort. Again, did I mention how receptive the staff is to constructive criticism? I made a minor note/suggestion about the shrimp in my ramen and it was taken in good humor. Until we meet again, Whitney House! I'm sure it will be very soon!

My gals and I went to The Whitney House for Saturday brunch and while I loved the location and restaurant itself, the food was just okay. I ordered the Two By Two with over-medium eggs. The challah toast was probably the highlight because the Ohio sausage patties were just meh. They weren't your traditional sausage patties and had a tougher texture. The mimosas were a little fancy for my taste -- served in a martini-esque glass with pear nectar (not orange juice). It just didn't feel like $7 worth. There was also a glitch with their computer system and their machines went down when we went to pay our bill, so they ended up hand-writing our numbers and we paid the old-fashioned way. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer about it, and luckily we weren't in a hurry, but I was still bummed because this place totally has the potential!

What a quaint little gem in Worthington. I've been here twice now and both times I ordered the same tasty meal: the Ohio burger. If I have a hankering for a burger, this is the place I come back to. I've also tried bites of other things on the menu and never been disappointed. ***Atmosphere*** When I am at The Whitney House I feel like I have been transported to the east coast. I feel like I am dining in Massachusetts or Maryland. There are two dining rooms: a feme experience in the front facing dining room nearest to High Street and a masculine, almost country club like, tavern in the back of the restaurant. Honestly, I prefer to eat in the more casual tavern in the back. ***Service*** My first experience in the tavern was amazing. Our waitress was quirky, honest, charismatic, and prompt. She made the experience, in my opinion, top notch. My second time here my partner and I went during a weeknight when it was not busy at all, but our waitress was rather distracted and it was hard to get refills on our glasses of water. Nothing irks me more than to want a refill on a drink and not be able to flag down the waiter/waitress. ***Food*** All around good. It's not the best food I've ever had at a restaurant, but it is darn good. If a friend suggested Whitney House I would say yes 100 times over. Go and try it for yourself. Their Ohio burger is always cooked to perfection (medium rare for me). One time I asked for it with a fried egg on top and boy did that burger knock my socks off :-) Their fries are very good, but not my most favorite. The second time I got them a bit undercooked and it just wasn't the stellar experience I had hoped for. I've tried their Seafood pot pie--super yum-- and their Tuesday night special Mom's stroganoff--another winner winner dinner. ***Overall*** It's a solid restaurant, but my experience is, it's just not consistent. I've had a spectacular experience and I've had okay experience--hence the 4 star review. I will certainly be back and I think you should definitely put this on your "places to try" list if you haven't been here yet.

Came here on suggestion of our nephew...and really had a great experience. The place is intimate and simple in decor but is filled with a hospitable spirit. The wait staff was attentive and accomodaing. We were a party of six. I had the meatloaf which was wonderful. Our party passed around samplings og the seafood pie, brick oven chicken and trout...all of which were prepared and presented well. Absolutely love the Boozy Shakes which came with trio of icream, 2 joggers of liquor and cherry soda. EXCELLENT and you mix to taste. Highly recommend for pair or party of folks.

W is for Whitney and Wow! The Whitney house is amazing. Maybe 5 stars but I want to visit again to make sure. We were treated by Ian, the owner, he was so nice and welcoming. Every person we interacted with was genuinely nice and focused on making our visit enjoyable. A lot of places provided great service but The Whitney House provides genuine great service. We started with the tostada. For dinner I had the meatloaf special and my wife had the chicken pot pie. everything was great. the beer selection was solid and the drinks were top notch. Our server heard us talking about a certain drink and he brought a free sample for us to try. The vibe is comfy and warm. There are seats by an open kitchen that look great. I can't wait to come again.

First time was 2/13, day before Valentine's Day, which was just as busy. Spur of the moment decision around 7pm, peak time, we called before going. Nothing available until 930-10pm, but if we could get there in 15min a small table was ours, we made it w/in seconds. From the host, to the executive chef, the many servers & who I believe was the owner, everyone was just so nice, & pleasant. Our main server was great, very attentive & prompt, especially with how busy it was. All the servers assisted each other with out outward complaint or contempt. The atmosphere was subtle, calm, inviting, and clean. The area we were sitting was a bit darker (my apologies for the pics, flash was not appropriate), but the booths & front dining area were appropriately lit. The Seafood stew was amazing. Clams, muscles, shrimp, & cod with a superb broth, that one server offered a to-go cup for me to take the rest home. I would have if I didn't soak it up with the very tasty bread. The Hanger steak was just perfect. Perfectly cooked & so flavorful. Nothing more to say, it was just perfect. After eating, we actually ordered an appetizer, cause we thought we were still a bit hungry. By the time the wine settled a bit & our appetizer arrived, our main dishes had settled & we were so full, but we trudged through the appetizer of Chicken tostados. They were delicious but didn't really pair well with the rest of the menu, kind of out of place. I can't wait to go back, making a point to go during the weekday, either early dinner or late. A suggestion from one of our servers, if you're not sure what to get try one of the weekly specials since they sell out quick & it's only for one day. Please note, parking can be impossible, patience is key. It's worth it.

The service was a little slow but the food and atmosphere was great. I had the burger and fresh cut steak fries, it was delish!!!! We'll be back for sure.

WOW! I've been here a few more times, most recently on a Saturday night. This is the first time I saw the owner running the front of the house, and now I understand why this place is so great. He's really on top of things, making sure everything runs smoothly. The hanger steak was unbelievable, cooked perfectly. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

We had a very nice time at The Whitney House. The chicken tostadas provided a nice light starter for our table. The hangar steak and fries were delicious, as was my wife's burger -- one of the better burgers I've had in town. The dessert was my favorite, as there is a range of boozy floats, each with different liquor, soda, and ice cream mixed together. Definitely save room! The drink list was solid. There were a number of signature cocktails. My favorite was the Est. 1803, which my friend described as a mint julep with blackberries instead of simple syrup. Very tasty. The beer list isn't extensive, but it's filled with local favorites. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive. We had two babies at our table, and some servers would get annoyed, but our server was very good. Nice atmosphere. We were seated in the back room, which is the bar area. The space is elegant, yet informal. Lots of exposed wood.

A friend and I came for lunch. I had the beautifully presented tomato soup and the farro risotto. Excellent! Very flavorful. I paid an extra $5 for fried bologna on my farro, and it was fabulous! This is not ordinary bologna. It comes from Waldo, Ohio, and it's just delicious (and not salty). My friend had the pulled chicken sandwich, which she also enjoyed. Highly recommend!

Tried the Boozy Cinnamon Toast Crunch (interesting and good), Adult Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, and a Burger (ordered and actually prepared medium rare). Their fries, like everything else, was interesting and very good. Grilled cheese was better than anything I've had at qMelt. Fries with burger were good enough to rationalize ordering more to share but second order not quite as good. Atmosphere is fairly relaxed and comfortable, attentive but not annoying staff, slight trendy/hipster vibe. Will be back for Fried Bologna and Sticky Bun.

Super super cute little nook of a restaurant. This is definitely perfect for those who love a homestyle, satisfying meal with a dash of artisan. I came for brunch this morning and had the farrotto, which was OK --I probably wouldn't order it again, I found it rather bland and one of the eggs was cooked through rather than being properly poached--but everyone else's meals were definitely better than mine. I found the fried bologna, tomato soup, and sticky buns to be particularly noteworthy. The coffee, which is served French-press style, is delicious and naturally creamy but pricier than what I think it's worth ($7 per pot). The interior resembles restoration hardware, almost identically. I love it! The dining room is akin to a dining room you might find in an old restored home, rather than a restaurant. That being said, the homey-feel pairs nicely with the homestyle food. The parking is tricky: you have to enter through the side street to the right of the restaurant and enter the parking lot through the back. The parking lot immediately adjacent to WH is only for US bank parking.

I had heard amazing things about the Whitney House, so I was expecting the food to be special. I ordered the trout and asked for no bacon, since I'm a pesceterian. The fish tasted a little strong but I wanted to give it a chance. I plucked out a purple potato that was well seasoned and when I went for another bite, my fork located a large piece of bacon. I returned the dish and asked for the kung pao shrimp. All but one of the shrimp were perfectly cooked but they were lined up in a puddle of what tasted like jarred hoisin sauce. The mise en place of the slaw was perfectly executed but I didn't detect any dressing. Perhaps I was supposed to use the hoisin sauce. The waiter came by to collect plates and dropped a dirty knife onto my plate of food. He apologized profusely and gave me a scoop of ice cream to try to make amends. I did taste a few things that were noteworthy... I liked the smoked fish spread and the bleu cheese butter that was served with my companion's steak was addicting.

Was so excited to go to Whitney House! Brought the ladies here for a brunch last Sunday. Fantastic food. Started with a Christmas Morning Mary which is a Bloody Mary made with a beet juice base versus tomato. Surprisingly tasty and refreshing. Also had the roasted beets for an app which had surprise little fried balls of goat cheese in it (is there a better surprise than little fried balls of goat cheese? The answer is no). We also split the cast iron cinnamon roll with candied bacon, and I ordered the vegetarian farotto. All the food and drinks were gorgeous and so good, save for the poached eggs on the farotto which were a touch undercooked, but still delectable. Also, service was a little slow and drawn out, but overall a great brunch experience. I definitely recommend!

I agree with what everyone has said thus far. The Whitney House is a nice place to have a meal. I will go a little further by making the claim that it is a great execution of what is now a tried and true concept--The upscale hipster restaurant. By that I mean the food is well prepared variations on a common theme--American Comfort Food, in this case--of course, it's all locally sourced or brought in from an exotic locale; lots of fancy descriptions of your food; craft this, organic that. No new ground is being broken. But...it doesn't matter. The food is good, the decor is lovely (we are in the process redecorating our house and will be stealing several ideas from The Whitney House for our new home--love the Moravian Star pendant lights!) The presentation is cute, with certain items arriving in miniature cast iron pots, allowing you to get your inner Yao Ming on while enjoying your dinner. We had a few foibles with our experience which can be chalked up to new restaurant issues. I ordered my otherwise excellent Manhattan up and it was served on the rocks. Our waiter pointed this out before he even set the drink down, but I let it slide. A few ice cubes never hurt anyone and I'd feel very sad if they threw out perfectly good Woodford Reserve Bourbon in the name of a few errant ice cubes. Also after reviewing the menu earlier in the week, I had my heart and stomach set on the short ribs, which are the Saturday evening special per the menu. Unfortunately, the menu did not reflect what the restaurant had on hand and I was told the ribs would not be available until the next week. Darn. I ended up going with the burger which was very good and came with some kick ass aioli that made everything ok. I also had a crostini as my starter that was notable for being excellent but also featuring black salt (!) from Hawaii. My wife had the Bibb salad, which she enjoyed, but I found a bit bland. My wife also liked her chicken pot pie. I was too absorbed in trying to figure out the constituents of the aioli to bother sampling her entree, but I'll take her word for it. For desert we had the S'mores Parfait, which was awesome and definitely worth a return trip. In fact, if I come back again, I may ask for the S'mores Parfait as a starter. If you happen to be there when I get my dessert first, I'll let you try some and you'll understand.

I'll try not to get into my chest too much with this review, so I'll have to take my time with this one. Staged on a corner in the cozy part of Worthington sits The Whitney House. The style is a fusion of urban meets contemporary but likes to vacation in the country. With a mullet style floor plan - formal dining room in the front - tavern with fireplace in the back, The Whitney House caters to the growing family and young professional clientele seamlessly. I was dining alone and opted to sit in the chef's area where Chef Chris was on deck. Wait - before I go there can I just say The Whitney House (TWH) might be the realest thing happening right now. I was so impressed with the high level of courtesy each employee showed me, along with their peers. The positive energy oozes out the wall and you can't help but to smile and chuckle at the events taking place around you. It's been such a long time since I've walked into a formal style restaurant and instantly felt at home. - AHEM - back to the review... Ah yes, so I sat at the chef's table (I think it's called). I greatly enjoyed being able to talk to the chef while orders were whisked in and out of the kitchen. It was very entertaining. I ordered the 7 dollar chicken special that changes daily, and the tomato soup. The soup was hearty. Extremely thick, chunky tomatoes surrounded by toasted bread pieces and cheese. The chicken was cooked in a balsamic reduction with tomatoes, spinach, and potatoes. So succulent! When I finished my meal a server took my plate and congratulated me on being part of the clean plate club! He later came back with a sticker to reward me for my efforts. Not gonna lie, I was beaming like a little kid! The GM, Ian, checked on me throughout my visit, thanked me coming in, sitting with the chef, and made an effort to learn a little bit about me. After we exchanged names, he continued to use mine during the duration of my stay. This is customer service at its absolute finest. With attentive servers, synchronized kitchen, and a comfortable yet polished design, I see nothing but very great things for this new spot. To commemorate my visit to TWH, I wanted to do something special. Welcome to my 50th review. :) Bookmark this place right now, make a reservation and go!

Loved this restaurant! Best place we've been in a while! The special "no knife short ribs with mashed cauliflower (with vanilla) was amazing! Best ever!! Faroe Island salmon was outstanding. The place was full, atmosphere was incredible. Wait staff and hostess were so professional and made awesome recommendations for all. Owner, Ian, stopped by to check on our evening.. Will definitely come again!!

Best dining experience of 2014! The Whitney House is my idea of perfection: -beautiful decor that's both elegant and casual -simple, but exquisitely executed food -genuinely friendly and helpful service **Decor** You know the style that every new restaurant is doing these days? Exposed wood, clean lines, urban meets rustic... well that's not The Whitney House at all. And I love it. I'm sure there's a design term for the style here, but the best way I can describe it is a cross between French country and English. Add in a dash of romance, and that's The Whitney House. Picture it: loads of gray, exposed bricks, dark wood, painted wood countertops, swanky tufted benches, and walls of gorgeous tiles. I love places like this where you can dress up for a special occasion, or you can come in a t-shirt and jeans and still be comfortable. For the record, I was in a t-shirt. **Service** When I first went, the restaurant had only been open for about two weeks. While it was clear everyone was new to this particular place, it was also abundantly clear that no one was new to the industry. And not in a jaded way--these are incredibly delightful folks who love what they're doing and undoubtedly know how to create a stellar customer experience. From the hostesses to the servers to the chef--everyone was on point. I love when people understand they can be warm and friendly and still professional. At no point in our entire dinner did we ever want or ask for anything. Our servers weren't intrusive, and they anticipated anything and everything we could have needed. We were seated at the counter overlooking the kitchen, and let me tell you--this is the best seat in the house! The Mister and I barely talked to each other because we were so mesmerized by the whole experience. Watching the chef, the kitchen, and all the staff interact was like watching a beautiful symphony. It was a super busy night, but everyone worked together seamlessly. I have to say that I had a five-star experience before I ever put a bite in my mouth. The most noteworthy part was Chef Max. IMO, chefs can be a bit of pompous assholes, but not here. Chef Max was very commanding, but he was so kind to his staff. He said 'please' and 'thank you' and gave immediate feedback to everyone. He would compliment a dish that he thought looked beautiful, and he would cheer on the servers for quickly delivering plates to tables. He even went around to some of the customers to see how their meals were. A top-notch chef who's still humble? Yes, please. **Food** Everything is comfort food, but created in the best way possible. While I've only had dinner here, they do brunch and lunch also. The Mister had a pork chop, and I had a hanger steak with fingerling potatoes. My steak was perfectly cooked and topped with chimichurri--and it melted in my mouth. One of the best steaks in the city. They also have a short list of craft cocktails, which you totally should not pass up. I had a gin drink that was refreshing and, more importantly, strong. We rounded off the night by splitting a French press pot of coffee and a brûléed banana split--with homemade ice cream, chocolate sauce, and sugary-crunchy bananas and pineapple. Everything was stellar. **In the end** If you love beautiful, simple food with outstanding service, go here. If you love Wolf's Ridge as much as I do, you'll love The Whitney House. Not that they're similar restaurants, but the experience is much the same. Pro tips: -Parking in downtown Worthington can be a shit show. There are many free public lots, but be prepared for a little walk. -Call ahead to get your name on the list or make a reservation online! You'll thank me for this. -If you do have to wait, there's a tavern room with a gorgeous bar that's perfect for hanging out and grabbing a drink. -If it's available, sit at the bar by the kitchen so you can watch the magic happen!

We came here for Sunday brunch and made reservations through open table after reading a tip and we ended up getting a nice and comfy booth, which is always a plus in my book! I ordered the pear mimosa and my husband got the French press coffee and breakfast stout. Thumbs up on all the drinks! We ordered the sticky bun as a starter, but after a few bites, we decided to save it for last because it was pretty sweet... but in a good way! It's two delicious cinnamon pecan rolls with candied bacon on the side. It was sooo good! For entrees, we got the brunch farrotto and the chilaquiles. The brunch farrotto comes with two poached eggs and it was okay- a little bland for my liking. I had a couple bites of the chilaquiles and it was good, but thought it would be a lot better. My husband would've liked less of the tortilla and onions and more pork in the dish. We loved the decor and the hostess, Danielle, was very friendly and came by to check on us. Our server was a bit busy and rushed, but it seemed as if he was the only one in the back room for a bit. He was making drinks and serving tables. We wanted to love the place, but the entrees weren't as good as we expected. The sticky buns were definitely the highlight. We'll give it another try with the rest of their brunch and dinner menu next time.

Really very nice. The owner is on site and she made sure we had everything we needed and our mini-celebration was spotlighted. Two of us had the confit style chicken and that was excellent. It is not an easy dish to prepare. The others had specials, which were also great. The drink menu is inventive and the cost is not outrageous. Our table service was nicely handled by Frank. He handed us his business card for next time. Nice touch. The environment is a nice redo from the previous bar, but it was noisy. I guess that is one sign of success. We are fans.

Went here for Mother's day today. We got there at about 2:30 on Sunday and were seated immediately. We had reservations in case the place was busy. Brunch must go for most of the day Sunday, because that was the menu we received. The menu is smaller, just front and back on a piece of stock, but the whole back is drinks. They had some "boozy cereal" drinks that are concocted to taste like different cereals. Definitely gonna go back and try those. I ordered a burger, which was fantastic. It was cooked perfectly to medium. The steak fries that were included were thick and crispy. Two of us had french toast, three thick slices of golden brown bread covered in a sweet marscapone. Another ordered the Chilaquiles and it was a much larger dish than I expected. He said the meal was great and would definitely get it again. Coffee here is french press and very mild. I've stopped by during lunch on a weekday... you're not going to get a seat. It was crazy busy. Check out their website for the menu: thewhitneyhouserestauran…

Great local spot. But beware you need reservations for brunch and will be ambushed by the farmers market crowd on saturday before noon. Great if you want to shop and then eat though. Even though they have there own lot Parking is a little challenging during this peak time but theres free public parking by a church. I only had the pork nachos bc it was recommended by server, the dish had a much cooler name but I wish I tried the miso instead that my friend had recommended. The pork was good but soggy nachos always make me have food regret and I just should avoid ordering nachos. I didn't realize they were nachos as the description was not completely clear. They could also use more servers here at the least the one we were working with seemed overwhelmed. The ambiance is very nice, new american farm to table feel. French press coffee. Peanut butter pie was just average but i highly recommended the banana split for dessert. It was unforgettable. My friend really enjoyed the Ohio Toast, french toast basically. Its also a kid friendly place, my friend brought her toddler and she was promptly given some toys and crayons. I'd like to try the miso the next time I visit.

I am a HUGE fan of The Whitney House. Not just because they are in my neighborhood but because they have it ALL 'going on'. From the way they decorated this historic space, to the layout, to the staff choice, to the menu selection, etc. The WH family have hit it out of the park and have themselves a living legacy going. Every meal selection has been amazing, from Tuesday Mom's Stroganoff to Sunday Fried Chicken....Yum and yum again. You can make dining here any experience you want, to elegant date night, to friends in pub to casual weekend brunch. You won't be sorry you chose to dine here and once you do it won't be your last visit. :-)

We've been here twice. The Sunday Special which is Fried Chicken is delicious. The portions are generous and the service was very friendly and helpful. I also loved the historic feel of the restaurant. We will definitely be back again.

Take your grandma here, you'll both enjoy it. The Whitney House is a place you would expect to find in Old Worthington - slightly upscale, dark and rich, but a bit homey. (This homey feeling might be mine, from the many Tuesday evenings spent at P.K. O'Ryan's, but I digress.) We began with the pickled vegetables and fries for appetizers. Enjoyed the veggies, but the large-wedge fries were slightly overcooked on the outside, undercooked on the inside, and needed plenty of salt. Their aioli was good, so the fries were manageable. Entrees - Amish brick chicken with winter vegetables and sauteed spinach, and bone-in pork chop with winter vegetables, shaved Brussels sprouts and apple-cranberry chutney. My partner really liked his chicken dish, well-seasoned and cooked nicely. The pork chop was panko-breaded and fried; I should have changed my order, because no one can save breaded pork from becoming a greasy, bland mess. The veggies and chutney, along with plenty of salt, saved this dish! Also note: you will not leave hungry. The portion sizes are ample. I still have half of my dinner plate to eat later. Staff and management were well-dressed; even the runners and bussers wore collars. Wait staff were attentive, but easily distracted by the kitchen caller (who was in the bar/service area). The diners were certainly a blue-haired bunch, but that might simply be their dinnertime clientele. I plan to come back for brunch and give this place another shot.

The Whitney House, in Worthington, Saturday night was great. Appetizers to entrees to dessert were nothing short of exceptional. The chef, Max, is a great guy and a wonderful chef.

What a gem of a find this place was. It had the feel of an English pub, but food worthy of a 5 star restaurant!!! I had fried olives and goat cheese which was wonderful. The main course was a sautéed chicken breast in a garlic ginger sauce over risotto. Very very tasty. The ice cream parlor next door was a nice ending for such a delicious meal!!

First visit but definitely won't be my last. We went to celebrate my hubby's birthday and we both wanted to try something new. We had resos so we were seated immediately. I really enjoyed the rustic ambiance I felt like I was in someone's farmhouse having dinner. Our server Frank was top notch and on point. He gave us some very good suggestions and he definitely knew the menu. He took our drink order and I got The Ruth and he got a vodka martini. We then ordered appetizers and I got the Bibb salad that had cucumbers radishes and grape tomatoes topped with housemade buttermilk dressing. My partner got the daily crostini that had a tomato jam with carmelized onion and fresh basil on their house made Italian bread. We both were very happy with our choices. We both ordered the Saturday special which are short ribs because as Frank said they always sell out. Now this is where my only criticism comes in. As we were enjoying our appetizers and we weren't even half way through them they brought out our entrees leaving us to feel rushed. Oh my were are ribs melt in your mouth delicious. They were paired with fresh French green beans cauliflower infused mashed potatoes and fried onion rings yummy! We were too full to have dessert but the bruleed banana split sure looked intriguing oh yeah we will be back.

I want to say I liked this place but the food and experience could have been way better than it was. My husband and I were completely new here and we stated that to the waiter. The only good thing I can see the restaurant did well with is the marketing plan. They got a good area and people who can afford a typical American meal. As for the service, it was not up to par with the restaurant. We had to wait for so long in between receiving a menu, food and check. Then I get an email telling me I forgot to check in with Open Table when I clearly checked in when I first came into the restaurant. We were even early for our 5 PM reservation. My husband was not pleased with the meal because he said when he asked for something simple to add to his Ohio Challah Burger they refused his request. All he wanted was an egg added to the burger to bring out the flavor since they did not give him the aioli sauce. My husband even stated they could have gone down to the road to his CVS to buy eggs to show quality customer service. I did not like the Amish Brick Chicken because it was dry like a brick stone, hence the name. I ended up eating a little after I left this restaurant since everything we got did not fill us up or make us happy customers. We still tipped the guy even though we felt it could have been a way better experience.

Ahhh the Whitney House. A quaint little place in Worthington that i took my lovely lady to (her names Whitney, go figure!!) for Valentine's Day this year after it was recommended from a good friend. It did not dissapoint! Its a very nice quiet little atmosphere in a very homey little brick building. The mene wasnt extremely large, which was something I appreciated, as i took it as a sign they really put a lot of effort into their dishes. This was a correct assumption. We ordered kung pao shrimp for an app, highly recommended. Not too spicy with a great slaw on the side. For my entre i got the linguini and clams. It was absolutely delicious and a very generous portion, while Whitney got the special that day which was fried chicken and mac and cheese, and a very yummy gourmet take on it at that. This is a fantastic place to try!

Yum! Went for brunch-the menu is varied with typical brunch options and some funky interesting to options with some lunch options for those who don't love brunch. I had the Ramen and my partner had the steak and eggs and we were both satisfied. The service was really awesome here-I was very impressed with how kind the staff was. The food was good, too. I recommend trying this place, a very cute and cool brunch spot.

The best fried chicken I have ever had. Also was paired with an amazing artisan Mac and cheese and pickled veggies. I followed with a boozy float. This is only on Sundays but it is worth it.

The Whitney House was excellent all around. The service was wonderful. I have a dairy allergy and we requested some soy milk. They did not have any and the manager gave me his card and said to call before next time and he would have some. Our server was very attentive and nice. One thing that my boyfriend really enjoyed was when Hall & Oate's "Rich Girl" came on the staff started singing. It made us smile and enjoy the the place even more. The food was also very good. The menu is smaller, but what they offered was delicious! I will be coming back more often during the summer farmers markets!

We got in a little before our reservation time and the hostess booth was unattended. Someone comes up and asks where we want to sit. I tell her we have a reservation and we would like to sit at the kitchen bar which was completely empty. She offers the real bar, but I said that we wanted to watch the kitchen so she sits us there. There is a half wall between the bar and the kitchen, so you have to strain a little to watch the action, but it's worth it. My husband ordered the linguini and clams while I got the panko breaded pork with winter veggies and an apple cranberry chutney. We got to see them making our actual dinners, which was very cool. My husband enjoyed his meal. I liked the broth--spicy and light. My pork chop was awesome. The best part was the chutney--sweet and tart and complemented the crunchy pork nicely. Even my husband liked it. The veggies were ok--I found the sweet potatoes were not cooked enough. For dessert (it was my birthday, we had to order dessert!), I got the banana/pineapple bruleed split and my husband got the bread pudding. The bananas and pineapple had a crunchy shell of caramalized sugar complements of the brulee-ing. On top of that was a scoop each of vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. Plus mounds of whipped cream--too much really. I wish the ice cream had been better and less melty, but overall it was pretty tasty. I think it needed some cake or something to give it substance. Jason's bread pudding was a little cake thing studded with cranberries and maybe apples too. I gave him a lot of my whipped cream because I had too much. He liked it. Probably could have used some sauce. The dinner was awesome, the dessert was slightly above average, and the kitchen watching was amazing. Successful birthday dinner. (Although afterwards I found out they did not check us into our reservation when I got an email from opentable. I was a little annoyed about that.)

Let me start this review by saying...I love this place!! I try to wait until I've eaten at a new place a couple of times before I write a review...and I'm glad I waited on this place because it gets better each time I go! Let me break it down for you... Starting with the pros: 1. Food is delish!! They market themselves as American flare, taking comfort food to a new level...and it's a damn good level! The Farotto is a risotto-style farro that is one of my favorites. I also recommend the burger, fried chicken, tartare duo, and lamb skewers. (Don't judge, I haven't eaten ALL of this myself!) 2. They are very accommodating! They are willing to make almost all substitutions and will check with the chef if they're not sure. 3. Chef Christopher was working the last time I was there, and he was the nicest, and probably most fun, chef I've ever met. He came out to personally finish our desserts at our table after we asked for something to be set on fire. (We wanted a dinner and a show...like Vegas). He toasted the pineapple and banana that went with our dessert and he made our experience that much more memorable. He was GREAT! If I had to pick a con, I guess it would have to be the service. I feel bad saying the service, because as I noted earlier, they are very accommodating... But the first time I went, the server forgot to put in my son's order. The manager was very nice though, and he hand-delivered the meal and took it off of our bill. The second time the server forgot my wine. It was a different server, so I'm beginning to think it's me. All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant. I think you'll love it!

Sometimes you go to dinner and you have some good food and good drinks and everything is "A-OK". You aren't disappointed but you aren't wowed. Then you have a dinner like I had at The Whitney House. To say that we had a great meal is an understatement. Everything from the food, to the staff, to the experience was just absolutely perfect. We came on a chilly night when we couldn't decide what to eat. We found the place pretty busy but we were assured that we could get a table soon since we had called ahead and got on the wait list. We weren't steered wrong and after just 15 minutes, we were offered two seats at the bar. The mister and I were feeling pretty adventurous, so we jumped at the chance. Let me very clear here - if you are offered the chance to sit at the bar on a busy evening... do it. What you will witness is a group of professionals going about their profession with excellence. The kitchen staff functioned like a well-drilled army; banging out plate after plate of meals through a meal five-foot long window. The front of house is no less excellent! I was amazed how they worked together as a team even though the restaurant had only been open for just a few short days. Our server, Frank, was excellent. He was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. We had questions about which meals we should choose for our dinner and Frank offered some great feedback and helped us make our decisions. I settled on the pork chops, while the mister chose the hanger steak, which I was lucky enough to taste: amazing. My chop was wonderful. Pounded flat and lightly breaded, almost in a schnitzel style. It was served with apple sauce that was just sweet enough that it complimented the savory chop. One of the major downfalls of sitting at the bar is that you see pretty much everything on the menu go by. So, when it came time to dessert... we had already witnessed all the deliciousness being passed through the window. We knew though that we had to have the creme bruleed banana split. Those bananas were a revelation. I'd just order them and eat those alone. The ice creams were also good... but those bruleed bananas! We finished the evening with a cup of french pressed coffee... the perfect end to a perfect meal. Another perk of sitting at the bar was we got to watch Chef Max do his thing... and of course, meet him as well, along with The Whitney House's proprietor, Ian. They, like the rest of the staff, were incredibly friendly and made the experience even better. So, suffice it to say, I'll be back to The Whitney House. The only question is... when and will I be able to sit at the bar...

I don't know who Whitney is but this restaurant pays great homage to the name. Every aspect of my experience here was on point. Right from walking in, you notice the cool upscale decor which goes nicely with the comfortable dining area making you feel at home. A wide view straight into the kitchen is a great sight as well and can't be missed. The menu is comfortable with a kick. We had the Kung pao shrimp to start and it has a real nice spice to it! This dish is a real delight. We had the chicken pot pie which was delicious. Light flaky crust and filled with fresh vegetables and juicy chicken. We also had the burger which was cooked perfectly and really hit the spot. It comes with some steak fries and a homemade aioli which is off the chain! Definitely a great spot in lovely downtown worthington!

This is one of the coolest and most stylish restaurants in Columbus. The interior decor is really neat- you can tell they put a lot of thought into focusing on more than just the food. It makes for a very comfortable dining area. But let's talk about the food! We ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp as a starter- not only did the glaze on the shrimp taste great, but I was amazed by how the shrimp itself tasted extremely fresh. For entrees, we had the burger and the chicken pot pie. The chicken pot pie came in a mini cast-iron pan, and it did wonders to the flaky crust. It wasn't as creamy as some pot pies I've had (which is not a bad thing), and it was one of the better ones. The burger was perfectly cooked and very juicy. The steak fries and garlic aioli dip were a great side!

My friend and I went to the Whitney House this weekend for brunch. The ambiance was very nice and the service was excellent. I ordered the vegetarian farotto plate with poached eggs and asparagus - it was very good. I would definitely return to try their sticky bun - it seemed every table near us had ordered it and I heard rave reviews.

Let me tell you about a fabulous brunch experience: though it doesn't actually open officially until Tuesday, The Whitney House in Worthington was open for trial runs this weekend. With an expansive menu of creative twists on traditional brunch cuisine, this place is definitely worth checking out. I had the challah french toast, which came with apple butter and maple syrup, as well as bacon. My husband had the brunch farrotto--a savory risotto style farro with asparagus and drizzled pomegranate glaze. Both were exceptional. Their Whitney Mimosa, a champagne and pair nectar infused cocktail, was off the charts. The restaurant is lit by minimalist Edison lights and the decor is straight out of Brooklyn. The kitchen is open for anyone who would like to gander at their food being made and the chef, Max, and proprietor, Ian, were both out asking how their dishes were and asking for suggestions on future courses. Overall, one of the best brunches, for an incredibly reasonable price, I've had--in Columbus or otherwise. I'd highly suggest checking them out after they open December 9th.

So, I am pretty let down with this trip here. I came here for lunch not to long ago and loved the place. This time not so much. We felt like we were being rushed out of there. And my wife and I both got meals with chicken in them. And boy that was a mistake. Both of our chicken breasts where pretty much all cord!! It was gross. We said something to our server about it and he pretty much just said "Sorry" and walked away. He was to busy filling all the salt and pepper shakers to care about this. Mind you he was going to tables while people are sitting there eating taking their salt and pepper and any other condiments from the table so he could get out of there. (Very Classy) and again this was lunch time. We had to ask for ours back when our meals came. Not to sure if I want to come back here. It is pretty sad, I gave you a 5 star the last time I was there and now 1 star. What happened Whitney House? Do I always need to sit at the bar if I go back?

This was a good little Yelp find. We were in the area to attend the Rolling Stones concert at OSU Stadium (Amazing!). The next morning we were in the mood for a high-quality brunch, and this place popped up in my Yelp search as an option. We were not disappointed. This small'ish restaurant was nicely decorated, and had a well thought-out table layout relative to its size. They probably could cram a few more tables in, but I'm glad they haven't tried to. We did not make reservations, although if we returned we probably would (we lucked out & didn't need them). Service was friendly, and we had no complaints. One word to the servers though, put the bill in the middle of the table. I *hate* when servers automatically hand the bill to my husband. That's insulting. Especially since I was the one picking up the tab for the meal... On to the food. We started by sharing the Cast Iron Sticky Bun with a side of candied Ohio bacon. Overall, we thought this was "ok" and was a good way to begin a meal when we were both really hungry. I'm a Sticky Bun snob, and to me if something says "cast iron" it should be obviously cooked in said vessel (to me, this looked like it was transferred over after the fact, it lacked crunch/caramelization...maybe they have cooking cast iron vs serving cast iron?...). The Sticky Bun had a very high butter flavor, which was probably in part due to the sauce. I expected a warm/hot temperature, and this was more "warm'ish," like maybe it was the temperature of the kitchen instead of room temperature. The candied bacon was delicious...but it's bacon. My husband ordered the Chilaquiles for brunch. He seemed to enjoy it, but thought it had a disappointing amount of avocado on it since it listed avocado as a main ingredient (I did not taste-test due to a tomato allergy). I ordered the Steak & Eggs, and was not disappointed. I prefer my eggs Over Medium but still runny (still slightly runny but gelled), and this is yet another restaurant that takes that to mean "Over Easy with the whites barely set" Sigh...but I went ahead & ate them anyway. The Hanger steak was cooked to a perfect "steakhouse Medium Rare" and was well seasoned. The "fries" should really be called "wedges"...as they are even bigger than standard steak fries. They tasted ok, but lacked any seasoning or pizazz, and were just deep fried potato wedges. They are served with a house-made aioli that i thought was a bit subpar for a house aioli. My husband & I both agreed it was like a non-chunky version of McDonald's "secret sauce" or a non-chunky Thousand Island dressing...not a fan...at all. I guess it was a lucky thing that they undercooked my eggs, they made a great dipping sauce. Overall, I would maybe return to The Whitney House if I was in the Worthington area again...but I would be tempted to try a different restaurant instead.

So so so so good!!! I had the double IPA and we started with the lamb skewers (so delicious however, I would do the tartare duo or the Kung pao shrimp next) and then the meals arrived. He chose the daily plate which was Meatloaf and I decided on the seafood pot pie! Meatloaf: I am pretty picky about meatloaf and it was AMAZING. it had a tomato pepper jam and french fried onions on top... the meatloaf itself was mixed with onions and mushrooms- WOW! HE is the meatloaf orderer, I am not. I would go back next Wednesday and GET THAT MEATLOAF! Seafood pot pie: looks are deceiving. I thought the portion was small (the meatloaf was a very generous portion which probably made this look small) however, my boyfriend ate about half of my seafood pot pie and I was still so full! Stuffed. It wasn't heavy, it had so much flavor, cooked so perfectly. I would order it again :) Our experience was great, despite reviews that mention the service... we were greeted so happily by a woman that turned out to be a manager and she was so very happy to see us, my boyfriend thought she knew me! She was sweet, inviting, helpful, and immediately we were happy we chose The Whitney House. Our server was Nick and he was also just as fabulous. He had great suggestions and he was on top of everything and wasn't overbearing, nor unattentive. I would be glad to ask for his section on our return. He suggested the bread pudding for dessert and we took some to go, as full as I am I cannot wait to get home to see if he was right about that too! Loved thus place, loved the atmosphere, loved the food, loved the staff and I cannot wait to go back! ********POST DESSERT UPDATE!!!!!!******** So my boyfriend is a chocolate sugar high the sweeter the better kind of dessert guy. I was very interested to see how this bread pudding would go over! I was excited, as I love bread pudding and this has roasted strawberries and rhubarb and an incredible creme anglaise sauce which is basically heaven in liquid form. THIS DESSERT IS STILL ON MY MIND TODAY! It was amazing... we were both disappointed when it was gone and I have a feeling that I may have to go back. Soon. Today. Just for the bread pudding. Oh my gosh it was like every bite got better and made you want more and more and more. This was by far the best bread pudding I have ever had. Hands down. AMAZING.

Steep prices for unimpressive portions. All I wanted was a salad. All they had on the lunch menu was a house salad and a salmon salad. I hate salmon so I ordered the house salad. It was good, but it was tiny and I was finished with it before the waitress even came back to check on how our food tasted. The waitress acted a bit put off when we didn't order alcohol at 11am on a Saturday morning. I am pregnant so not drinking for obvious reasons. I won't go back

Love the Whitney House! Really great original drinks, amazing boozy floats for dessert. We were with a large party the first time we were there, so we got to try almost every starter on the menu. Everything was great! Not only that, the ambiance in the restaurant is also great - love the decor. We will be back!

I was so excited to try The Whitney House because I heard awesome things from several people. The food, cocktails and dessert were absolutely delicious. We started with the fries which were super crispy but potato-y on the inside, served with a creamy aioli that I loved. For dinner, I had the pot pie which was steaming hot but amazing with a homemade crust that was flaky and buttery. My boyfriend had the hanger steak with a chimichurri sauce that had to be freshly made because it was wonderful. For dessert, we shared the bread pudding which was great with cranberries and a doughy but not raw filling. The only downfall was the service. Our server, taylor I believe, was not the best. She came over a total of 5 times throughout the 2 hours that we were there. We ordered cocktails (which were delicious) 10 minutes after sitting there and not being greeted and they didn't arrive for another 15 minutes. She never came back in between that time even though we were prepared to order an appetizer and entrees. While we were waiting on entrees, we wanted to order another round of drinks but she never made her way to our table, so by the time our food arrived we didn't want another round. The only time she was quick to our table was when we were ready for our check and ready to pay. It was a full house, but not too crazy. I would love to come back to try the rest of the menu, but hoping we have better service next time!

Came here for brunch. The pros: great ambiance with a few small tables available to sit outside on the sidewalk, nice decor and the servers were very attentive once we got to the table. The cons: the person who seated us was kind of unwelcoming and curt. We had the Ohio toast and the chilaquilas. They were just OK. For the price I would have expected better preparation or better balance if flavors. Perhaps dinner is better but we were underwhelmed for brunch. Also - small point but no espresso drinks. End result - OK but not out of this world. Appreciate their local sources but brunch, at least, was disappointing, given the positive reviews.

What an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in the door (which was opened and held for us), we were impressed. Every staff member we passed on the way to the table stopped to let us pass with a smile or a verbal "welcome." We were greeted very promptly by our server, Nick, who was knowledgeable and attentive. He gave really great descriptions of all of the food and was patient with us for all of our questions. We had the fried olives and caprese for appetizers, which were great. My partner got the Ohio Burger and could barely put it down long enough to have a sip of wine. I had the Wednesday meatloaf, which had to have been at least a pound of meat, along with perfectly cooked green beans and crispy onion straws. I ate the entire thing and I'm not ashamed! It was incredible. The desserts and boozy floats all sounded incredible, so next time I'll need to save room for that. The only thing that bothered me at first was that we were sat at a very wobbly table. By the end, I didn't give a shit about that. I would eat their food off of the ground, if needed.

I visited with a group of 8 for the first time today. It was so yummy an the service was excellent. We went for brunch and I had the Ohio (french) toast with bacon. So good!!! I can't wait to try dinner sometime soon.

Fantastic food & atmosphere, and the price point is great for the quality of the food. Brunch was absolutely wonderful! My dining partner had the Ohio Toast, made with great challah and apple butter. He doesn't eat meat, and they were happy to substitute breakfast meat for one of their other great sides. I had the smoked trout platter, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Service was wonderful, and the desserts looked great, but we were way too full to try them, unfortunately. My one gripe--some of their signature cocktails have a twist or change I wish they would make more clear. The Christmas Morning Mary is made with beet juice instead of traditional tomato, but that isn't listed as part of the drink description. If you like beet juice, it's great, but I wasn't a huge fan and wished I would have known. Overall, a small blip in what was an otherwise great experience!

We sat in the bar area. Great ambience and our server was charming and attentive. I had the sea food pot pie -- flaky crust, delish! Though we went to dinner, I've heard friends say the restaurant is very kid-friendly for lunch as well.

I really like this place for a few reasons. You will find drunken cereal here. The candied bacon is wonderful. They have great brunch meals, all at reasonable prices. They try to source from local venders, and they have chef's whim dishes available. Today we came in for lunch and I got the 7 dollar chicken lunch, chief's choice. It was pretty good, especially for 7 dollars. Spinach and red potatoes dressed together, tender and well combined. It came with chicken that had a tomato pesto on top. Admittedly I would have preferred it more tender but I can't complain. I also had the Matzo Ball Soup, which was light with out being to bland (easy to do when salt isn't overused as most places tend to). My boyfriend got the ramen, it's not typical ramen. Has fresh peppers, carrots, onion and lots of spice and flavor in addition to the pork. I plan on using the left over broth to make a stir fry! Any Who, they also serve French press coffee. I really love it, and you get the thick coffee at the bottom of your cup which I really like. Never had a bad cup here. The servers and chefs are really friendly, and will make sure you are enjoying your food. The chef came out personally, because that's just the sort of place this is. Honestly for price, food sourcing, food taste/quality, service, and ambiance it gets all five stars from me. I always leave happy!

I was taken here for Valentine's day and loved it! The inside is sort-of a rustic theme, with a brick wall I thought was nifty. The menu is on the smaller side, but there are a variety of options for all kinds of food lovers. I got the special- The Fried Chicken... WOW. It was delicious and came with smoked Mac&cheese. I highly recommend, but it's only on Sundays! I definitely suggest this place for a date night (especially if your name is Whitney )

Cute little place in downtown worthington. Very friendly staff and its a very clean and well decorated place. It was good but the prices are just a touch steep. I don't mind spending a bit more on a fancy brunch but the food has to be spot on. The server talked us into sharing the cast cinnamon roll. It wasn't hard to be talked into it- I saw pictures of it on here and was intrigued to say the least! Amazing!- and it was also the perfect size for 4. I ordered a mimosa and coffee. The coffee was amazing; can't go wrong with French press! I also thought the mimosa was pretty good! However, my friend is a mimosa freak and didn't love it. I got the fried bologna sandwich and enjoyed it- the challah bun was a little dried out :( It came with fries and (I think) an aoli.. It wasn't an appetizing color and the fries were big dried out wedges. Those things kind of put a damper on my meal and I only ate the sandwich. I would like to come back and try something different. Overall, not a bad experience but not an overwhelming one either.

Third visit and I have yet to be disappointed. We had Amish Brick Chicken and the Pork Chop . Splitting the peanut butter pie was plentiful and delicious! It was hopping on a Wednesday night, but the atmosphere in the dining room was cozy The staff was attentive and friendly.

We went in this past Sunday for brunch. In short, we had an awesome experience and cannot wait to get back! We started with the sticky bun which was ridiculously good. The candied bacon is phenomenal! My wife enjoyed her usual breakfast of eggs, bacon and potatoes that she ordered a la carte. I had the Ohio (French) Toast. Some of the best I have had. Our 14 month old son enjoyed every bit of his eggs and potatoes as well! And the mimosas...never had it with pear before but what a nice addition to give it their own feel. The service, even though the dining room was completely full and they were down a server, was excellent as well. See you there next weekend for breakfast! Oh, and you might want to get there by 1030. We walked in around 1015 and there were only 2 tables. By 1045 the restaurant was completely full!

Went for brunch last weekend with the lady after coming back from Puerto Rico. We wanted to do something that would cheer us up after coming back to snow on the ground. Well, turned out that the weather was mild and the ice had started to melt and it was gorgeous day out to walk around. So why not Worthington? It's a cute little town. Not much going on when we arrived around 10:30 on Sunday but it was fast to sit and be served. Our server was very nice and super helpful. She also smoothly slipped us lunch and dinner menus later on so we could check it out in case we wanted to come back. Being gluten-free, I had the Steak and Eggs. The Glazed Salmon Salad also looked great but we had pigged out on a lot of seafood in Puerto Rico. I'll have to try that next time. The lady had the Farrotto which was a risotto style farro. My steak and eggs were perfectly done but frankly quite small somehow so I was still hungry after my meal. L enjoyed hers but said there was something lacking. We didn't get any booze at that hour so can't comment on that. Will have to go back for dinner to review again but it's definitely worth a try!

This is, by far, one of the best restaurants in the Worthington area. The food is superb and the service is top notch. Food was very clearly all local and homemade, and the host and server were very friendly and knowledgable. I will be back.

What a pleasure! This place is wonderful. I've been now for happy hour, dinner twice, and brunch. Food is consistently excellent. Fantastic bar and bartenders. Had the dip duo twice with different dips. Both times the dips were balenced, delicious, and packed full of flavor. I find most dips and hummuses regrettable--a thing that chefs put together as an after thought, but not here. There is a lot of thought and care put into the food, even something as simple as an appetizer dip. If you haven't been here, go soon and go often. Enjoy!

My husband and I had our NYE dinner at The Whitney House, and I must say that it really was a great experience. The service was great, and the decor was quite appealing. For dinner, my husband had the pot pie, and I had the hangar steak. We both enjoyed our meals. We wrapped up the evening with their bread pudding and the french press. I've only recently gotten into bread pudding, and theirs is probably at the top of the heap of what I've had. The flavors in it are amazing. I can't wait until we have a chance to go back and try some of the rest of the menu.

What a delicious restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere!!!! I love the decor and the food was amazing! I had the fried bologna sandwich with their house fries. I loved it. The service was wonderful and everyone was very friendly. This restaurant is a great addition to cute little downtown worthington.

Chef Max has outdone himself with this one! I knew Chef from Lindeys and knew that bringing my family to his new spot would not disappoint, and trust me, they are a tough crowd! We started with the Crunchy Stuff and Pickled Vegetables which were both flavorful and easy to share. We had both the house and Bibb salads at the table and both were perfectly dressed with light dressings and fresh ingredients. Two family members had the linguine with clams and were surprised at how delicious the, I'm guessing homemade, chorizo was and how flavorful the dish was. The chicken pot pie was almost like a stew with flavors so deep you just couldn't get enough. A perfectly crisp crust and a side of broccolini made it plenty to share. The burger and pork chop were both very flavorful, although my brother felt the pork chop itself could use more seasoning. The apple topping in the pork chop and the fresh cut fries that came with the burger were some of our favorite things we had. I had the hangar steak and it was perfectly medium rare all the way through. I don't know how it was cooked but it was so tender and perfect I could have eaten three of them. Chef Max, you will be seeing me again soon. Worth the trip to Worthington for sure! Go see them, you won't be sorry!

After an initial lackluster experience (short ribs that could've been more tender and less stingy with the demi glaze), we decided to give them another try. The Sunday fried chicken special wasn't that special. The chicken retained too much oil. Let it drain longer? The dipping sauce was too sweet. The pickled veggies had too much of some spice (cloves?). The mac&cheese was ok. Our medium well burger arrived medium rare. It was still squishy on the inside. We kindly sent it back to be thrown on the grill for a little bit longer. By the time we got it back, the bun and toppings had been ruined as they sat in the juices of the undercooked meat for too long. Sad, soggy burger. The thick fries and aioli were tasty though. Unfortunately, that was not enough to redeem the meal. Next time, if we want fried chicken, we will go to Hot Chicken Takeover or even Double Comfort. For burgers, we will hit up Ringside Cafe. Both experiences we had at The Whitney House left much to be desired. The food just wasn't there.

Amazing. Simple. Classy. Keep going Whitney House. Worthington and Columbus need more of you! Everything was fresh, appealing, and our service was spectacular. Ask for Frank and you won't be disappointed. The owner Ian and the Chef both stopped by to thank us for eating in their restaurant. No, Thank you. Kudos, we will be back!!!

Great food, GREAT service, owner is very attentive and truly cares about your experience. The fries with signature aoli are a must! I have been for brunch and dinner. Was extremely pleased both times. Highly recommend checking out The Whitney House again and again. I know we'll make it a regular spot!

Came here on a Sunday around 12:45 for brunch. I made a reservation in advance and they had or table waiting, which was nice. Our server was nice but you could tell he was very busy. All 6 of us enjoyed our drinks, except the Bloody Mary was a little odd with the prune juice. We ordered a sticky bun as an appetizer and unfortunately they had sold out already :( I ordered the adult grilled cheese and I have nothing bad to say about it. The caramelized onions were on point and a nice combination with the tomato jam. The tomato soup that came on the side was not my favorite. It had the taste and texture of marinara. Other then that my meal was great. The management of The Whitney House is something I have to rave about. The main manager of the place was extremely nice, friendly and attentive. He visited my table probably 3 times and asked how everything was when we left. You could tell he was genuinely concerned about our experience. I can't wait to try this place out for dinner sometime!

This is really a four and a half star rating and I am not quite sure why it isn't five. I think I need to go someplace twice to give a five rating but since we WILL be back soon, I may make the leap then. This place is everything the earlier reviews say. Good, warm but modern atmosphere. Very engaging and well-trained waitstaff. Small but very nicely done menu. Food is excellent, exactly what the menu and server promise and nicely presented. While the wine list could be larger, it is nicely selected and most wines are available by the glass. We started with the dip duo; two small ramekins of cheese dip with carefully executed homemade crostini. Nothing exciting but nicely done and nice to nosh while sipping a drink and relaxing with friends after a long day. We had three entrees between the four of us. The trout was very fresh and perfectly cooked. Moist and flavorful. I liked the accompanying tobasco buerre blanc and thought it added to the dish. As a note, my wife asked for it on the side (the on-going dislike of spicy hot food). The first dish came with it on the fish and, when pointed out, was whisked away and replaced without any issue or rolling of the eyes. My hanger steak, while not a large portion, was perfectly medium-rare and the chimichurri sauce on top was a fine addition. The fingerling potatoes were cooked exactly right and had just enough salt. The meatloaf daily special was deemed "perfect" by our friend and she took a lot home as the plate was full to overflowing. Bruleed Banana Split was good but not horribly exciting. I do love banana splits, though. One thing I do not understand in the other reviews is that this is considered a moderately priced restaurant. Our bill, with tip, came to $110 for two with two glasses of wine each and the appetizer and dessert split. Not out of bounds for an experience of this quality, but not moderate either. I think this place is here for the long run and cannot wait to go back. If you haven't gone, do. It is a must.

My review is a 3.5, but I bumped it up to a four because I think it was poor ordering on my part. To start, the building is cool and welcoming, and the host and our server were both very friendly. The Whitney Mimosa was delicious and my mom really enjoyed her Sangria 460. I ordered the Chilaquiles and did not enjoy it as much as I was hoping. The base is tortilla chips, so they got super soggy once the pork/sauce was poured on top. It was unappetizing to look at and not my cup of tea, but tons of people were ordering it so I may be the only one who doesn't like it. My mom ordered the Brunch Farrotto, and it was pretty delicious. I definitely want to come back to try something different on the menu to see if I can be swayed.

I really enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant and wanted to like the food more, but everything we had at brunch was just ok. My hubby and I shared the sticky bun starter and while good, it was missing something. The bacon was good though. My brunch farrotto was very bland and the hubby's chilaquiles was also not as good as he hoped. He really liked his french press coffee though. So, I wasn't super impressed with brunch but might give it another try for an evening out to see if the dinner menu is better.

I came here with a friend for a Sunday brunch and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was polite and referred to both me and my friend by our names. I ordered the French Ohio Toast and my meal was nothing short of incredible. Unlike other chains, this was made perfectly and you were served a very good amount for a reasonable price. The drinks here are amazing (I had the French Press Coffee & Amaretto) and the the atmosphere was good. There were not a ton of kids running around and overall I was very comfortable with the level of service.

Have parking at the back. But it's a small lot. Can park at the public parking behind the church. The place is new and has a classic look. Food is good. KungPau Shrimp is great. A good change from Bang bang and dynamite shrimp. OurFries..which is essentially potato Wedges is good with the sauce it comes with. Amish Brick Chicken was good too. Wil definetly go there again.

Was very pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I have been there twice for lunch and it was excellent both times. Their service is great and everyone there is very friendly and knowledgable. I am not a big fan of chicken and will usually go for a steak or hamburger but I ordered their seven dollar chicken plate. It was fantastic, extremely moist and flavorful. I went with my wife the second time. She had the farrotto since she is vegetarian. Normally she is pretty indifferent to veggie entrees but she loved this dish and said it was seasoned perfectly. I tried the tuna wrap which was far from ordinary with the sprouts, ahi tuna, caper mayo and red peppers which were perfect together. This restaurant does a fantastic job with taking pretty basic entrees but using excellent ingredients and elevating the dishes. I will definitely be back for dinner.

We dined as a party of four here on Friday, December 19. What a great dining experience! We had an Open Table reservation for 7:30 but probably didn't get seated until almost 8pm. That was fine. We were able to hang out at the bar. The men enjoyed a couple of Manhattans while the women ordered from the wine list. Our server was very attentive. He recommended the pork chops, hangar steak and salmon. We ended up starting with an appetizer of the crostini and pickled vegetables which were both very nice. Between the four of us, we ordered two hangar steaks and two salmons. The hangar steak had a very good flavor and was cooked to our liking. The salmon was out of this world. The sauce had a smoky tobacco flavor but wasn't too spicy. Really enjoyed it. We ended up passing on dessert because it was getting late, but they had some good options on the menu. Looking forward to going back!

My husband & I were so excited to hear that The Whitney House was opening in place of the Irish Pub (no offense, Irish pub!)...we were just ready for some great, hand-crafted, locally sourced food in downtown worthington. We've only been once, but it is quite literally the place I recommend most now, and we're planning out our next visits. DELICIOUS!! Great menu, all around. And cool. Very cool. Fantastic service and beautiful interior. Great work, Whitney House crew!

All main dishes were well prepared, and the atmosphere splits the Worthington Inn and Old Bag. Excellent trout and chicken, but the ambitiously-thick fries were a little under done. We were in during the dinner hour peak, and everything was running well -- owner in evidence and making certain everyone was cared for. Hopefully the lull-hour experiences other reviewers have had are addressed. This is a great addition to Worthington.

I wanted to love this place, I really did. I personally loved PK O'Ryan's which occupied the space previously, and while this is an entirely different concept all together, I hoped it would be even better. The space itself is nice - it's decorated well, there is both a restaurant space up front and a tavern space in the back with high top tables and tvs, and a few booths. I met my friend for dinner and drinks tonight in the tavern section. My mixed drink was good. A tad small, but good. The appetizer was the same, it was a tad small, but good. They lost me at dinner, however. I ordered the hamburger and fries, which should be easy enough. First, we waited nearly an hour for our food. I ordered the burger and my friend ordered the amish chicken. I ordered my burger well done, but it came out damn near rare. I know some folks like a rare burger, but I'm not one of them. I can't stand rare meat, it creeps me out. So, I got a rare burger, and sent it back. They replaced my burger.. And yet again, the burger came out rare. While the server was apologetic, and the head chef (I believe, he never introduced himself) stopped by to apologize - I still walked out without having dinner. We had been there over two hours at that point, and my pregnant friend had to get home - I didn't have time to wait for another meal. And to top that off, I was still charged for my drink and my appetizer, which to me didn't seem quite right. For the record, my friend did say that her chicken was very good, so at least we were 50/50. Like I said, I really wanted to like this place. But a burger shouldn't take two hours and still be wrong, and I don't expect to go out for dinner and come home hungry.

I came here for brunch, first time. Aside from a few hiccups in the beginning the experience was great. We came in the first door from the parking lot, which I guess was the back, and the bar tender didn't greet us or anything...we just stood around not sure what to do until a waiter came back to tend to his table and told us we need to go to the front room to be seated. After that, our waitress was lovely and very attentive, food was amazing. I had the Ohio Toast. Christmas Morning Mary (their version of a Bloody) was a bit strange, I guess I was expecting more of a traditional bloody mary with a tomato base. I'm not sure what the mix was, but it was sort of hot pink. They used pepper vodka, which made it drinkable. I wouldn't get it again though, a lot of the other cocktails looked amazing. Overall a great experience, definatley will be back!

The pork chop was very good. But the sides were unimaginative, kind of lazy. I asked to substitute and was politely told no. There are a lot more places in Columbus where you can enjoy a whole meal. This could be a great restaurant if they would put as much effort into the whole dish.

Wow! This place is absolutely amazing! I had read everyone else's review and had to try this place. I was not disappointed. For dinner we got the hangar steak and the salmon. I LOVED the salmon!!!! It was probably the best salmon I have ever eaten. From the sauce to the winter veggies to the salmon itself, WOW! My husband enjoyed his steak as well. Our cocktails were good and for dessert we shared the brûlée banana split. Also yummy and definitely plenty for 2 people to share. If I had to say anything negative about this place it would be that it was very smokey the night we were there. Maybe the fans weren't working in the kitchen. Overall you must try this place! Be sure to make a reservation. They are busy!

I made a reservation on a Sat night at 8:45 with some girlfriends. We arrived 5 till 8:45 and were shown to the bar until a table was available. It was very busy and had a good atmosphere. We walked by the kitchen access to get to the rear bar. Staff was very friendly but having to jump between servers to get to another location in the restaurant was not ideal-poor design. We then had to go back through the same kitchen/server entrance -glad no food or drinks were sacrificed. I feel bad for the servers. We were seated and placed an order for appetizers, the duo dip. The dip took thirty minutes to arrive but was tasty. We placed our meal orders which took about thirty to forty minutes to arrive but we had another bottle of wine to enjoy. The meal was okay. We were there for a total of two hours, service was very nice, but I would probably not go back. I think there are better options in Columbus

I took my mom out to lunch on her birthday for a work lunch here. It took over half an hour for our appetizer to come out and we had to get our lunch to go as 45 min had gone by and it had not come out. This is extremely disappointing considering it was a pulled chicken sandwich and a salad with salmon. A neat little place to try but don't expect quick service

Nice charming setting. Started with Specialty drinks off the menu for both of us - neither worked well. Second round of the classics Cosmo and Manhattan were much better. Bibb salad was fresh, but bland dressing did little to add flavor. Meatball appetizer was wonderful. Chicken Pot Pie round 1 was served cool and lacking flavor - staff noticed and replaced with piping hot and more tasty version. Salmon dinner was well presented and great tasting. After appetizers arrived the noise level rose significantly and the chef clearly started shouting orders (very distracting to several tables since we all looked at each other). Mid dinner there was a significant work flow stoppage that caused main courses to be delayed by 45 minutes. Wait and front end staff were aware and worked hard to reduce the customer angst.

My husband and I took a out-of-town guest here for dinner last night. The décor is very nice and the restaurant felt very welcoming. We were there at peak dinner time (7:30) so the noise level was a little lively at times but that is to be expected. We ordered the crunchy mix snack, the daily crustini, the salmon and the chicken. The crunchy mix was a savory mix of spiced, fried chickpeas and nuts. The crustini, which changes daily, was a red pepper cheese mix with a balsamic reduction drizzle. The salmon came with a love sauce, mix vegetables and was slathered in stone ground mustard. The chicken was a healthy portion of meat along with mixed vegetables, including potatoes. I loved the starters. The crunchy mix was flavorful and very satisfying. The crustini was simple but very good. There were three pieces which was perfect for our table. I LOVED the salmon. It was incredible, truly. I could have licked my plate. My husband said the chicken was good but not great. The service was good and I don't think we really had to wait very long for anything. Our total dining time was about 90 minutes which I think is good for a leisurely, social dinner. The menu looked great, including the dessert. We will definitely be back. Also, we didn't order dessert but they had the best looking dessert menu I've seen in a long time, including boozy floats. Ice cream + booze = WIN!

Most wonderful evening out with the wife!! We did not plan ahead and make a reservation but they said they would fit us in at a community table if we were ok with it. I am outgoing by nature and my wife not so much, but we thought it might be fun, and boy was it ever! We were treated so well by the staff and the other diners were a hoot to sit with. We enjoyed our dinners together and got to see and discuss so much of the menu in the process. My wife and I both loved the chicken tostada app. For her entree my wife ordered the homemade crust chicken pot pie that she says was to die for, and I had to take her work for it because she did not let me have any. I enjoyed the Friday special chock full o' seafood stew more than any seafood meal I've had in over a year. A wonderful tomato based sauce with garlic and just the right blend of spices to cover a hefty helping of shrimp muscles and fish served with two extra large crostini for sopping up all that goodness after you've exhausted the protein and veggies. After dishing off the last of the crostini and having broth left over I told the server that I would slurp out of the bowl if I was not at a community table. He cleared my plate, and came back with a class full of the remaining broth and gave me a wink. Of coarse I downed it. The cocktails were very creative and the atmosphere was loud but energetic and exciting. The decor is beautiful and relaxed. We can't wait to go back, but this time I'll call ahead, or maybe not.

What a delightful find! The decor is cozy, yet sophisticated. I loved the chilaquiles--great flavors of tortillas, tomatoes, onions, creamy avocado & fresh jalapeños combined with tender pulled pork and two perfectly cooked eggs. A bite of my husband's "Ohio" toast with sautéed apple & Nueske bacon was just the right ending to a memorable meal. Oh, and the French-pressed coffee was worth the price of $7 for four cups. Can't wait to go back to try something else on the menu. Didn't love the music in the tavern, however.

This is a great new place! We didn't experiment with the food and opted for the burger and fries, which were very good. I love the atmosphere in the dining area where the bar is. Unfortunately, it was very crowded so we were seated in the other dining area that faces High Street, which was fine except for the metal chairs. The best part about our first experience was our waiter, Frank B. He was very attentive and was great at explaining the menu. I am looking forward to going back and trying other menus items and brunch. I''ll just make sure I can sit in the bar area next time.

We had dinner here tonight. The restaurant decor was very nice and elegant. We ordered the shrimp for an appetizer and the waitress forgot to put the order in until our entrees had nearly arrived. The shrimp and the sauce had a nice flavor. I ordered the chicken pot pie, the vegetetables inside were not cooked all the way and were crunchy, the entree over all did not have much flavor. My two guest that came with me also found their food to be lacking flavor. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and once again was let down. Overall, the service was slow and lacking, and the food that we ordered left something to be desired. I can't see any of us coming back to this restaurant with so many other choices.

I had read great things about this new restaurant, but I was greatly disappointed. Which is sad as I was looking forward to having another good go-to place in downtown Worthington. My hub and I went on Friday night. Granted the place was busy, but service was quite slow. We ordered the crunchy mix appetizer to share. Hub ordered the house salad and chicken pot pie. I ordered the Bibb salad and the meatball appetizer as my meal. Our salads came first. Hub liked the house salad. I did not find the Bibb salad tasty. . .would not order it again. We waited quite some time, and then our meals arrived. Note that the crunchy mix, our appetizer (!) still had not come! When I told the server, she noted she would grab those cause those are quick to prepare. ?? At least, they didn't charge me for it. Hub thought the chicken pot pie was okay, although he commented that he had to look for the chicken. As for my meatballs? Yuck. The sauce looked like a tomato sauce, but it didn't taste like tomato. And I don't know what the meatball was made out of. AND. . .not once did anyone ever bother to ask us how things tasted, or if the meal was okay. When the guy came to remove my partially eaten meatball plate, he asked if I wanted a box and I told him that I didn't find the taste good and he didn't really care. I will cross the Whitney House off my list as I will not return here.

Hands down the best brunch experience we have had in 11 years in Ohio. Every member of the staff with which we had contact was pleasant, friendly and professional. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and more than willing to answer questions and offer suggestions. When we saw that French press coffee was offered we could not order it quickly enough. One member of our party is from San Francisco and the others from Austin. One of the things we have all missed in Columbus area restaurants is really good coffee. (sorry it is just true) The French Press did not disappoint and the extra step of warming our mugs before serving did not go unappreciated. The food is creative and much is locally sourced. Some brunch offerings are creative Ohio spins on traditional brunch offerings. Like the heavenly smoked trout one of our party ordered. Served with quick pickle red onions, capers and crunchy toast points as well as hard cooked egg. The risotto style farro with asparagus, mushrooms and poached egg was simply flawless as are the crunchy and yet tender over sized house fries. We cannot wait to try dinner there as well!

Bottom line up front: awesome food, terrific service and wonderful libations. Now the details... On entry, cool ambiance. Our hostess seated us immediately and asked if we had been here before. On our "no" she gave us a preview of the special and promised us a wonderful night. She did not lie Our server arrived shortly for drink orders and the a "snack" of goat cheese stuffed fried green olives. YUM. The whole evening was paced perfectly. Starters of house salad and lamb skewers were delicious. Main course of short ribs (nightly special) and trout were flawless. Peanut butter pie shared for dessert was delectable. Wine list solid. Glancing at the nightly specials, I could probably dine here every night. I plan to come back soon.

Love the Whitney House! Really great original drinks, amazing boozy floats for dessert. We were with a large party the first time we were there, so we got to try almost every starter on the menu. Everything was great! Not only that, the ambiance in the restaurant is also great - love the decor. We will be back!

Great food, GREAT service, owner is very attentive and truly cares about your experience. The fries with signature aoli are a must! I have been for brunch and dinner. Was extremely pleased both times. Highly recommend checking out The Whitney House again and again. I know we'll make it a regular spot!

Amazing. Simple.

The Whitney House, in Worthington, Saturday night was great. Appetizers to entrees to dessert were nothing short of exceptional. The chef, Max, is a great guy and a wonderful chef.

Hands down. AMAZING.
