I absolutely love this buffet, I've gone here after major medical school exams with some close friends of mine. My favorite option is hands down their coconut shrimp. It has a good sweet coconut flavor with a crunchy texture with plump shrimp. Can't get enough of it. They also serve a decent selection of decent tasting sushi (that hasn't given me food poisoning), seafood, meat and vegetable options, and a decent dessert selection including softserve. They recently added a hibachi option which I did not try. I love it. Try the coconut shrimp. Probably one of the better buffets in Toledo.

So my newly adopted family takes me to Happy Rose for lunch every Monday...and I love it! First off they have an excellent sushi selection, to name a few: California roll, Philadelphia roll, Rainbow roll, spicy Tuna roll, and inari!!!!!! Getting sushi can be a very costly outing and I get a silly guilty pleasure from eating two plates of sushi for their lunch buffet price of $7.25. After I've had my sushi fix, I'd like to try a plate of other random goodness usually fried rice, orange chicken, steamed asparagus, roast beef, stuffed potatoes....I'm getting hungry thinking of all the food. Gotta save room for dessert! I usually get some tapioca, cheesecake, cream puffs, and pineapples. And finally Happy Rose is a family run business, and I think it's super cute how the owners bring their kids to work after school...reminds me of growing up in the family jewelry store! So go to Happy Rose...be nice to your wallet and support this awesome mom/pop shop! :)

Pretty much your typical Chinese restaurant. Good food, good price and usually a surprisingly good selection of fresh sushi. I just wish they were better at replacing the crab legs. It's always a race to see who can get to them first and if you aren't quick enough it'll probably be another half hour wait at the least

I'm surprised at all the positive reviews. I saw nothing spectacular when I visited this place. The food was old and quit mediocre for my taste. I understand that it is a buffet, but that doesn't mean that the food needs to look dried up and seem like it sat there for 3 hours. I tried their "fresh" crab legs and was disgusted at how cold they were. It made it impossible to crack the legs, so I gave up and had dessert, since that was the only thing to seem appealing.

We'll the food was pretty good the problem was the payment there was four kids and they thought two of the kids we're fourteen When one was twelve and the other was nine when the kids walked outside to talk and stuff the lady said "bring them in bring them in" all because she couldn't believe their ages all for 2-4 bucks

Not a bad place to eat, sushi is included in a buffet purchase. As a whole I've had better Chinese experiences, however the staff and the ability to customize the food how you want is what I like. By that I mean if you sit down you can go over by the sushi where they have a habchi grill and make what you want to order, where it is extremely fresh. However as in most buffet places stay away from any raw food such as their mussles and shrimp. Not saying anything bad about this establishment however good sitting out tends to turn bad.

When we were living in Toledo, my fiance and I went to Happy Rose Buffet several times to eat. The price is reasonable and the food is average (I say average because I'm Chinese and I know what 'good' Chinese food really is). They do have a small sushi bar, however, we've been when the sushi is fresh and when it's not fresh at all. Also, the buffet has never had any good Chinese vegetables like gai lan or bok choi when we've been - this is something I would suggest they consider adding to the buffet menu.

I haven't been to this buffet since it opened up years ago and decided to try it again recently. It was a Monday so it didn't seem like the food was as well stocked, maybe because it was a week day. They had a lot of staple buffet foods like general tsp's, chicken with broccoli, crab legs for dinner, sushi, etc. But their selection seems a lot smaller than some of the newer buffets in town. The food there is good but it seems like a very average buffet- not a place I'd complain about but nothing that set it apart from other places in town. I do have to say that I'm not quite sure why there were no bowls located near the soup section?? I'm not sure if that's how it normally is or if they just forgot to put the bowls there. Oh and if you're going there for the first time, there's no direct entrance to the parking lot. You have to either enter from the parking lot where the Michael's is or at the light further up.

I went to this buffet looking for a decent Chinese lunch buffet. After going to the one on Glendale, I was hopeful for a better experience. I'd have to say it's a good buffet for the price for lunch in Toledo. I went for a Saturday lunch which had a bit of a crowd so the food turnover kept the food relatively fresh. It's pretty much standard Chinese food along with a hibachi and small sushi bar. They also have many flavors of scooped ice cream available for dessert. All in all, it's pretty good for a $7 lunch buffet.

Man this place is good! Ignore the outside building paint and just go in to enjoy this place. Plenty of variety -- good seafood for adults and plenty of fried deliciousness and healthy veggies for the kids. EVERYTHING IS TASTY Place is dirt cheap -- $10.99 for dinner with crab legs, full size spareribs, 5 different seafood dishes, sushi, and soup bar. This place must be some type of money laundering operation -- LOL! Food is very fresh as it goes fast! I really like that they change out the serving spoons frequently too. Service is good - plates cleared quickly and drinks filled before they empty. Great fish tank in lobby with some big fish that the kids love. Bathroom is clean and well stocked. I can't wait until my next trip to the Toledo Zoo so that I can have another satisfying run at this place!

Arrived around 6:30pm on a Thursday. Many dishes were down to 1/4 full. They seemed to be having a hard time keeping up with the demand. Most of the 10 or so types of sushi were empty. The crab legs dish was empty during most of my visit. I ordered hot tea which was bitter. I would say the best entrée on the buffet was the beef and mushrooms. Beef very tender and mushroom and sauce very tasty. Service was not all that great; seemed like no one knew which tables they were assigned. Very Willy-nilly. This restaurant is very close to where I live so while it would be convenient, I do not believe I will be dining here again.

the outside of Happy Rose looks like a standard crappy Chinese Buffet. the inside looks kind of the same, i guess, but this is one of the best buffets ever. i will say the food is not 100% consistent, and if you go at the wrong time of the cycle your experiences may vary, but even at its worst it is better than most places. the sushi rolls are almost always good, and i have tried the majority of them. i have only run into a couple that i didnt like. the rest of the food is more than plenty to fill several plates and be as gluttonous as you choose. two detractors for this place for me - they have a lot of American-style food. i think to satisfy picky kids, and make the place more family friendly. this isnt a big deal as there are still plenty of options, but if i had my way there would just be tons more Asian food. they have also eliminated the soft-serve they used to have and went to hand dipped ice cream. my issue with this is the communally cleaned ice cream scoop, which sits in a standard draining water bucket with water running on it... not my favorite, but the kids dont mind at all. overall this place offers a good variety of choices and has good food, and offers it at a reasonable price. if you are a fan of Chinese Buffets i would recommend you check this one out.

I really don't know why this place is called Happy Rose when the chinese characters read hong mei gui (or red rose.) Not that it really matters since I'm only reviewing what the places offers anyway. So to the food. From a cornucopia of seafood to a large sushi selection boasting fancy sushi rolls, this is, hands down, one of my top picks for eating your money's worth in Toledo. The portion size when ordered from the limited, regular menu was enough for 2-3 meals, and the ingredients were as fresh as could be. Just a note: if you have any special requests, either tell it to the server in Chinese or bring a Chinese-speaking pal along. I personally made the mistake of telling our server to put less oil in my mixed vegetables dish in English (not wanting to bust out my Mandarin) and was served a plate of freshly steamed veggies -- with no sauce! Okay, so 'less oil' was translated to the extreme. Polite, friendly service. Despite the cheesy exterior decor and color scheme, it's actually quite spacious and well-decorated on the inside. Paintings and artwork, on the other hand, are... weird, for lack of better terms, and clashed with the overall feel of the restaurant.

In my opinion, Happy Rose is one of the best Chinese buffets in Toledo. Buffets are usually not the best place to find good Chinese food, but I really like the food at Happy Rose. I would certainly call it above average. There is a large selection of all the dishes you would expect to find, as well as a sushi bar (which I wasn't brave enough to try at a buffet). The facility itself is okay. The decor is just plain weird, but I have seen that at a lot of Chinese buffets, so maybe that makes it "normal". You don't have much interaction with the waitstaff, but at a buffet like this, the service is only there to refill your drink and clear plates. They did that fine, so no complaints there. I don't have anything bad to say about the place, and I really like the food. If I'm on the west side of Toledo, this is my "go-to" Chinese buffet.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
