Wow!! Great 4th of July lunch!! You can tell this food is made with passion & enthusiasm! We wanted a light lunch so the 8 of us shared 2of the Fat Man Specials! Everything was fabulous, but a special shout out to the greens, smoked cabbage & pickled veggies! The players came with chicken, pork & brisket! Very very good and if I didn't live in Phoenix, AZ I would become a regular!

Tried Oak Hill for the first time. The owner, The Fat Man, explained everything they offered. It is a short menu, but it all sounded delicious. I went with the ribs and "dirty beans". The full rack of ribs were very meaty and had great flavor. I added his Gold sauce which was nice and tangy. They were cooked just right. The dirty beans had an interesting flavor that are hard to describe since I haven't tasted anything similar. My wife had been there before and she went with the pulled pork again. She didn't add any bbq sauce. She liked the flavor plain. We will definitely be back.

Food is awesome. I have eaten bbq at the best joints in Texas, Memphis, and Nashville and this is one of my favorites. The gold sauce is the best. Follow their facebook for random specials "The Fat Man" whips up.

I've eatena lot of bbq. And while I might consider Cincinnati the south, the 300-pound frame wasn't built on bad bbq. Didn't even know the place was there. Already had lunch, but had to check this place out. Planned on just looking at the menu and seeing if it passed the "sniff" test. Well the owner - or resident fat man - changed that. His love for his food is infectious and the way he describes each side makes you wonder if they are his children. I rummaged through the seat cushions and got $8 for a pork sandwich with a side of cheesy spaghetti. Found the staff attentive and quick to answer questions. The sandwich was about 1/2-pound of pork and as the "fat man" said "it'll stand up on its own." The pork is served naked and the balance of the rub and spices gave it a strong flavor that didn't overwhelm the natural flavor of the pork. The special mustard sauce really made for a great meal. The cheesy spaghetti was good a heavy sauce with strong garlic flavor. However the smoked cabbage is on my list for next visit ... Which will be very soon.

Went for the first time tonight and it was wonderful! The owner was so friendly and engaging. He explained everything and made us feel very welcome. It's a very small establishment (outdoor and covered patio dining only) and it looked very clean. We ordered pulled pork and brisket which were both tender and delicious. The dirty beans are made with corn bread and are amazing! We also had the cabbage as a side which was also very good. Other customers we met were all repeat customers and drove quite far to eat here. My 3 children devoured the food. Highly recommend and worth the drive from anywhere in Columbus.

Great food and great passion about their food but a tad expensive ($18 for a sandwich, side and salad for one). A good local joint worth supporting though

This little BBQ place is awesome. I have had the brisket, chicken, coleslaw, mac and cheese, greens, and corn bread. Everything has been exceptional, the homemade sauce is awesome with just the right amount of sweet smokey heat. The owner greets you with a big friendly smile and explains the menu to you. In my humble opinion you can't go wrong here.

In central Ohio good BBQ is very hard to find. Oak Hill BBQ in Sunbury is an oasis of deliciousness in a desert of bland fast food style BBQ. Everything is made in house with love by the proprietor Ron "Fat Man". All of the meat is seasoned to perfection, so the sauce is only needed as a compliment. The gold sauce is spectacular! All of the desired BBQ staples are available. The lineup includes: Beef brisket, pulled chicken, pulled pork, ribs, rib tips, and the most delicious jumbo chicken wings I've ever tasted. All of the sandwiches are a half pound of meat. The fat man really lets his passion show in his side dishes. From spaghetti mac to his smoked greens all of the sides are inventive and delicious. Try the dirty beans because they will knock your socks off. I don't even like pinto beans, but these are excellent. Fat Man also does daily specials such as Taco Tuesdays, Chicken and Noodles on Wednesdays, and Fried Chicken Fridays. He also has orgasmic homemade desserts including Granny Smith apple crisp, Nilla wafer banana pudding, and cherry cheesecake. Throw in real southern style sweet tea, and it makes for the perfect BBQ experience. My wife went back the next day. Take a trip to Sunbury for Oak Hill. You will not regret the trip. BBQ lovers will most assuredly become repeat customers.

Been here a couple times and had the fat man cater my golf outing. We had rib tips, smoked chicken legs, and sloppy brisket joes. Sides were marinated veggies and dirty beans. It was awesome and all the golfers got their fill. I am already looking forward to next year.

We just moved back to Ohio while living in the "Deep South" for a few years...I mean Atlanta not Cincinnati. I learned quite a lot about real BBQ while I was there. Both from those who've been doing it for years plus from my own humble attempts experimenting with rubs, sauces, and smoking on my Big Green Egg. Plus, I made it a habit to try BBQ in other parts of the South when I had the chance. One thing I did learn is that if you have to choose between an established BBQ restaurant (like Jim and Nick's) or one running out of an old gas station with the smoker sitting out in the parking lot -- pick the old gas station. Moving back North, I prepared myself for a lack of BBQ and was pleasantly surprised with the number of new BBQ restaurants in the area...surprised but cautiously optimistic. I mean...City Barbeque...come on... So, I'm just not a local who's only experience with as been with chain restaurants So, when Oak Hill opened just few doors from the village square this past Labor Day weekend, I had to give it a try. It's located in what was once a long-established and well-loved soft-serve ice cream stand, "Creme Corner". I never had the chance to try the soft-serve before it closed, but, more on that in a little bit. Another thing to look for in BBQ restaurants is the smoker itself. If there isn't one at the restaurant location, then it's cooked somewhere else and trucked in. Never a good sign. Oak Hill has it's smoker in the back. Good sign. We ordered a pound of pulled pork with home made fries, slaw, and both the sweet (which they call their "gold" sauce) and carolina sauces for carry out. The sauces were different but really good. The sweet sauce had a nice smokey flavor and the carolina was really good though it had more heat to it than I'm used to. The fries and slaw were the best part of the meal. Ok that leaves the pulled pork. Good pulled pork should be moist, juicy, and tasty all by itself, without any sauce. Oak Hills was none of that. Oh well. It was almost as if it had been smoked a day before and reheated. Oh...about that "Creme Corner" thing. While we were waiting for our carry out order, a group of folks came up to the restaurant looking for ice cream. This wasn't too surprising because Oak Hill hasn't taken down the old Creme Corner sign. These folks waited a while until they could get anyone's attention to ask if they still sold ice cream -- they waited just because they were at the wrong window. Wrong window? First window you see is not the window you order from...it's the order you pick up your food from. The order window is to the left, on the side, and way below your line of sight. There's no signs to tell you which is which. That, plus the way these folks were ignored gets big fat customer service grade of C. Will I go back? Probably. I want to give them a chance to compensate by trying their brisket. But I'll stick with my pulled pork.

Just go and get you some real BBQ and you'll see and understand! Try to get the sample plate when you visit the first time and make sure you will get some of the smoked cabbage. The owner is absolutely cool and the neighbors jealous when they have to smell the smoked food everyday... So, if you are around, make sure to stop by and get you some smoked heaven on earth!

The service here is phenomenal. The owner greets everyone like he's known them for years, people walked up to him with the same familiarity. From reading the Yelp reviews I knew to walk inside to order. But I can see how that might have confused some folks (not worth docking points though. Come on.) I got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of smoked cabbage. The sandwich was piled high with some of the juiciest pulled pork I've ever tasted. So juicy that I didn't even need to put a drop of sauce on it. The smoked cabbage was tangy and crunchy and perfect. I was hesitant to skip out of something cheese covered or deep fried, now I'll be hard pressed to ever stray from it. More than enough food and tough to beat at $8. My only complaint is that I came so hungry I inhaled my meal, only to wish it would reappear on the tray. Will be back, soon.

I have had the pleasure of stepping into the Fat Man's house twice and each time has been exceptional. The BBQ sauces are all good, but my preference is for the Gold. The pulled pork and chicken sandwiches are my personal favorites, with the fried chicken (Friday nights, y'all) coming in next. The side dishes are great, too. I'm a big fan of the dirty beans. One of the best parts of the experience is the welcome environment and hearing the description of menu items to all the first-timers. I highly recommend Oak Hill BBQ to anyone looking for a simple, casual atmosphere with some of the best BBQ and sides around.

Poor customer service. Awkward ordering windows. The order window is inside the covered patio with no signage saying "order inside"... They just expect you to know. We looked at the menu and prices and no one ever approached the window to talk to us. If they did we might have bared the overpriced food and given it a try, but we left after 5 minutes. I'll update when I actually eat there, but seriously customer service 101. You're a new restaurant engage with people!

OH baby! What a great BBQ place. Worth making a special trip to savor their excellent selections. I'm a huge fan of pulled pork and brisket so this time I've not sampled the ribs, but that's a good reason to return and re-review Oak Hill. The sides we tried were beyond great...smoked cabbage? (10 stars) and the dirty beans? (10.5 stars)..and the owner, is cordial and helpful in explaining his menu offerings...

We were passing by and decided to stop. Glad we did. Good food but a little on the pricey side. Smoked cabbage was awesome, they even shared how to make it. I had the half chicken and my hubby had the ribs (falling off the bone). Delicious.

Good was good slightly pricy. BBQ sauces were awesome. Will definitely go again. Had a shredded pork sandwich with hand cut fries and an order of rib tips with cornbread and dirty beans.

Since they have opened, I have ordered carry out several times. I loved it every single time. I've recommended it to my friends. Recently, I ordered a smoked turkey for Christmas expected it to be wonderful. After paying $45 for a turkey that should've been cooked I was highly disappointed.I had to cook it 2 more hours after I got home. Still it wasn't completely cooked after those two hours! I peeled off the meat that was cooked enough for consumption, microwaved it for safety reasons and left the Raw meat closer to the bone on the carcass and Fed my family because I had to. but everybody there knew where it came from and we were all disappointed. Huge failure. Once it was fully cooked. By me! It tasted good. it could have been perfect had the chef known how to actually smoke a 15 pound bird.
