Went here for lunch. Wife had the bulgogi and loved it. I had the lunch portion of bibimbap (didn't come with an egg?) and we shared an app of mandu. Mandu was good but tasted like the frozen kind that I buy at Jungle Jim's just down the road. The lunch prices are fine, but the dinner prices are pretty high at $13-15. The waitress was absolutely fantastic, but as we were leaving there was about 20 customers in the place - and still only one waitress. She worked her tail off but the service got annoying slow. This is more like a 3 1/2 star review, and yeah, this strip mall has seen better days and I can imagine that at night it would be a very off-putting location.

Pleasant surprise ordering dinner for the family! A jewel in the rough! Lol We had the seafood pancake, Kalbi and seafood soup. Seafood pancake was excellent. You can tell a good seafood pancake when the batter to ingredient ratio had more ingredients than batter. The batter is meant to bind the ingredients. It was hot, crispy, flavorful and huge! It covered a large plate. KALBI was meaty and well seasoned, not too sweet or salty. When you order it as a side, make sure you are with hungry company. It's a lot for one person Seafood soup! Fish, shrimp, tofu, scallions, excellent broth that you won't be able to stop slurping. Eat it with rice. It's a fantastic meal to share with a family of 4. It is large. It's a family run business, with not many people working so it may seem slow, but it is worth the wait. It's not a fast food establishment. If you want quality food, you'll get it here, and it will take time. Considering that, it's pretty amazing that they can pump put as much quality in to their dishes with little staff working. 5 stars!

This was our first experience with Korean food, so everything was new. The restaurant is a cute little place, squeezed in a strip mall, next to Scotty's. Inside, the restaurant's music swirls with the bar's. I found this to be charming. My friend was consumed with the TV that was tuned to a Korean TV station. He kept saying things like, "It's traffic like our traffic, but Korean." And, "It's golf like American golf, but in Korea." I don't think he was being funny. The TV might have been enough for him. He didn't need the food. The woman who, I'm assuming from the other yelps, is the owner, brought us a glass of crispy noodles and took our drink order. We examined our menu. And knew nothing about it. There's a Chinese section but we wanted actual Korean food, so we stuck with that. Vegan options are a little tricky here, but you can ask to remove things or replace meat with tofu, I imagine. We ordered a plate of fermented vegetables. It wasn't, really. There was kimchi, pineapple, tofu, and chicken nuggets. Enough for two people but she tried to up sell us to two orders for some reason. It was ok, but eating raw tofu isn't really good. Lesson learned. We also ordered dolsot bibimbap. Me with tofu, him with beef. This comes with egg on top, so not vegan. You could ask for no egg, I'm sure. I asked if there was dairy or milk in it. Communication was tricky, but we figured out there wasn't. The food came in stone bowls. That was our main reason in choosing the dish. And they were super hot. The strange thing about the food, was that it came out with the hot sauce. I guess I'm spoiled and used to the 1-6 scale or whatever. And, it turns out, I'm bad at doing it myself. I couldn't get it right. A tiny bit at a time. The food was decent and thick, filling. But I couldn't get the seasoning right. My friend had a hard time, too. He started adding random things. There were fortune cookies with our check, which is always nice. I intend on going back here and trying something else. I think I just need to learn more of what I like and don't like. Trying new things is good.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I went for lunch, but ordered off the dinner menu. Everything I had was fresh and very tasty. I will return in the future.

OMG this place has the best bulgogi. It's a family owned restaurant, which I love, and the word on the street is that the chef was brought over from Korea and has been working there for something like 30 years. The food sure tastes like that's the case. The bulgogi is to die for here. Its clearly cooked over charcoal, because you can taste the smokiness from the charcoal and the flames. I wish I could say more about the rest of the food but I really think that the bulgogi was so good that it eclipsed my impressions of the rest of the meal. All I remember is that everything else was also quite yummy

I love the Bulgogi! I dont have much else to say since I usually eat there once a week and always get the bulgogi. Now my wife has tried other items and says they are good as well. If you are anywhere near Fairfield and would like to eat at a quaint, charming, family owned restaurant, this place is for you! I will say as a side note there hours can be weird for a restaurant. They close during the afternoon and reopen for dinner, so check the hours before stopping by.

If you're going to jungle jim's, but you also love korean food, you might as well stop here. It is somewhat of a hidden gem, wedged in between businesses, you'd never know it was there. It's been there forever too. I remember coming to this restaurant maybe 20 years ago. It is a medium sized restaurant with okay decor, run by 2 people. They serve korean and chinese food. The bulgogi is pretty good and you get plenty of banchan(side dishes). You may think the food takes awhile but it is worth the wait. Yes it is somewhat far out in Fairfield but jungle jims is close by. Great mom and pop restaurant, great value, 4.5 stars

Very popular following, but never considered it any better than many other places just like it.

This is definitely a hidden gem here in Cincinnati. I can't believe I've lived here for 4 years and only heard about this place a couple of months ago! I have to admit that I had some reservations when we pulled up because it looked like a very much forgotten strip mall. And...it kind of smelled like one too (I know, I am that picky). HOWEVER, the food more than made up for everything. Yes, the service is a tad slow but she was also super nice. We ordered the lunch Bi Bim Bap, lunch Bulgogi, dinner stone bowl Bi Bim Bap, and Banh Chan. First, the Banh Chan consisted of 12 whopping dishes and was absolutely excellent. My favorite was the cucumber dish - super crisp (fresh!) and flavorful. The Bulgogi was the best in Cincinnati - superb flavor and incredibly generous portions. Can you believe that we got soup, an egg roll, fried rice, and a giant mound of Bulgogi for $7?!? The lunch Bi Bim Bap was different from what I expected. It consisted of a giant bowl of white rice with 4(?) different Banh Chan dishes on top. Though surprising, I still found it to be quite good. The dinner stone bowl Bi Bim Bap was much better than the lunch portion. The sizzling bowl featured tender, flavorful beef and an egg - much like traditional Bi Bim Bap dishes. Next time, we'll order the dinner portion of that, stay with the lunch Bulgogi, and try the Kalbi. We'll be back!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. My original review is over two years old so I just wanted to update everyone and let them know that Moon Garden is still the best Korean in town! I am getting hungry just thinking about how amazing and FRESH their food is!

I love all Asian cuisines for their distinct spices, flavors, and cooking styles. This wonderful restaurant captures one of the most delicious foods on the planet, Korean food, at its best! It is off of Route 4, next to a somewhat noisy pub. The decor is mediocre but with a homey feel. The umma and oppa (mom and dad) who run this place keep Korean TV shows on, which seems to entertain the Korean guests I have witnessed frequent this restaurant. You do not cook at the table which is a popular procedure in many Korean restaurants. The service is a little slow but 100% worth the wait for the amazing bulgogi and kalbi, as well as the pickled side dishes. Kimchi is always my favorite! (I stock some in my house.) You won't be disappointed if you're looking for some quality Korean yumminess!

Great mom and pop restaurant in an unassuming retail strip in Fairfield, OH. Best bulgogi in Cincinnati/NKY area and I've been to most of them(vs. Riverside Korea, Chung Kiwah, Korean House, Kim's Korean, Asiana) Generous banh chan and they are always more than happy to bring you more if you've found a favorite. Most nights, save for a night or two a week it is just the husband/wife running the joint. He cooks while she serves. With this being said it can sometimes take some time for your food to cook, get a refill or be seated, but sit back and enjoy the Korean programming on the TV or if you are brave ask to partake in the Kareoke machine if you are brave :) All in all, a hidden gem which from talking with the owner has been there over 30 yrs now. Definitively worth the drive, just be prepared to take your time and enjoy the food.

Seems everytime I come back the mom (maybe pop) duo takes longer than expected for food. Oh well, I can wait but the food isn't quite as tasty as I remember. For example the soondubu had way too much tofu and not a lot else going.

For the love of all that is holy... This food is spectacular. The biggest tip that I can provide someone who is thinking about tiring it out is to prepare yourself for a wait. Plan on some drinks and spending time with your party while waiting on your food, but my god.... When you get it it's wonderful. I have not had enough Korean food to really tell you how it rates with other Korean, but I loved it!

Moon Garden has fabulous Korean food. I have been enjoying food there since 1984 when Mabel Murphy's was next door. Lastly the Beef Begogie is to die for!

After shopping at Jungle Jim's the family was looking for a place close by to eat. This is a mom & pop establishment...the waitress was super friendly and very accommodating... even kept the 4 year old happy. We ordered 2 bulgogi, kim chee ji geh, sweet & sour chicken (batter fried with sweet sauce) & chicken fried rice. Bancha came with the bulgogi. The 4 year old loved the chicken.. not sure about the fried rice since he didn't touch it. The ji geh was yummy... good spice... hit the spot since it was freezing outdoors. One big thumbs up for bulgogi (he lives in Texas) & one OK ...generous portions & tasty but not authentic (... might just be from a different region than I'm use to). The bancha was nothing special. The cabbage kimchee was flavorful & had good spice... You can also order bancha as a side if it doesn't come with your order (I'm use to getting it no matter what I order). I'd recommend this place as it's probably the best you can get in the area. I live in SF bay area where there are a lot of very good Korean restaurants... Did I say how much I liked our waitress...she was great.
