I would drive to this place from anywhere if I had to. It is so good. I get sesame chicken or general Joe's chicken or some other stew with a typical name from who knows where. China, right? Oh well. They fry stuff in the wok or in a deep frier and then theres the soup which is comforting if you have digestive issues - don't ask - yikes ha ha. Sometimes they label things as having lobster in it but c'mon, I wasn't born yesterday and I know how lying works so don't blow smoke, ya know? The stuff in these lobster sauce whatever is just that imitation crab meat that is rubbery. Also, I know a little something about General Joe's Chicken (Tso is chinese for Joe) as I have traveled throughout the midwest extensively and have eaten chinese food before in places like Toledo and Ashland, Ohio. This General Joe's chicken is too spicy. Too spicy. I said it and I stick with it and no I'm not the guy who fusses a lot. I almost forgot. This place has a number of cute waitresses who you can watch and pick the one you like best and wonder what if she loved you even though you're older than her gramps. I'm kidding! Ha ha! Don't judge! And don't tell the missus! Or Teddy! I'M KIDDING!! I get the food to go sometimes and it is great but you smell like it for awhile.

Great Asian food in Dublin. Tried the Kung Pao Chicken, Bangkok Fried Rice, and veggie LoMein. All were great. We will be coming back!

It was very busy on a Friday evening, but I think the service was still quiet slow. I really liked the shiitake flounder. I was picturing in my head a whole flounder but it was in 2-inch size pieces. The ladies' restroom was nice but it could use a little more decor. It was interesting to see the thermostat in there. Next time, I should try their lunch portion of the shiitake flounder during their lunch hours.

Got pickup from here tonight. They had a hot and ready for us when we arrived and the man running the cash register was very nice and friendly! Most of the food was great! I got the coco curry with shrimp which was so yummy and the shrimp were cooked perfectly even after a stop to redbox and drive home! My boyfriend got the general Taos with scallops, shrimp, and chicken he really liked the sauce and flavor! The only disappointment was he paid extra for fried rice and the rice he received looked like white rice with some soy sauce!

This is a quaint little restaurant with limited seating. The service is always good and fairly quick. The food is consistently pretty good and the prices are somewhat reasonable for Chinese.

My boyfriend and I decided to check out Sesame Sea Bistro because of the positive review on Yelp, and we were not disappointed. First of all major kudos to the Waiter. He was the only server for the whole restaurant, which was about 12 tables. We never had to wait longer then expected for anything and he was extremely courteous. We loved the lettuces wraps, which was a suggestion from the waiter after our original appetizer was not available. The meals were enough for two and I ended up taking home half my meal which made for an awesome lunch the next day. What i most enjoyed was the absence of overly powerful salty flavor which can be found at other Asian resturants.

So good, I signed up to Yelp to give it the 5 stars it deserves! Freshly made, steaming hot, copious amounts of high quality, well seasoned food. So tasty! Nice decor, friendly, attentive service, and no wait on a Friday night ( although the place did fill up). We will be back! A gem, hidden in a strip mall.

We had been there 2 Times in the last 3 months. We thought the food was good, but the service was slow. So, we took 2 guests with us last evening. Our experience was poor. My biggest issue was that the entrees did not come out together! My husband got his food and proceeded to wait till we were all served. They then brought out 2 more entrees about 10 minutes later and another 5 minutes to get the last one! When you go out as a group you like to be served together. Poor service. Won't go back

Sesame Sea Asian Bistro is a small restaurant tucked away on Avery Muirfield Rd. in the same strip center as Mary Kelley's. It is situated on the far right of the strip center. Inside, a small diining room awaits, with seating for maybe 40 people. Dined in with family and found the food pretty delicious! All of the ingredients of all dishes were fresh. The Peanut Noodle dish was prepared perfectly with a dominating peanut taste. The Three Musketeers appears to be a bland version of a Spicy Triple Delicacy at any other restaurant. Fresh ingredients, but no spicy and no pungent sauce flavor, somewhat disappointing. (And no Count of Monte Cristo on the next page!) Enjoyed a beef dish that had strip steak, but the star of the show was the Sweet and Sour Pork. You would never think that there would be anything special in a dish like this, but Sesame Sea made the most incredibly ginger flavored sauce that I have never encountered in a sweet and sour sauce! Generally when I eat a sweet and sour sauce it is rarely any different than the one before, but not this time! I wish the online menu was big enough that I could actually read it, so I may not have given exact names to all the dishes I mentioned. Just a really good Chinese meal!

So I went out there tonight solely based on the reviews here, as I searched for a top rated Chinese / Asian restaurant. And I must admit, this jaded restaurant'ophile was impressed. Its definitely worth the track out to Dublin for this stripmall gem. While I'm not giving it 5 stars, as that's something I reserve (and arguably others should as well) for places / experiences that truly wow and will not be soon forgotten (read: orgasmic tasting food, quality, ambiance, menu creativity / diversity, and professional service). That said, I give Sesame Sea Asian Bistro a 4+ ! The decor is simple, clean and elegant, at least pleasantly surprising for a stripmall location. While the hostess was a bit aloof, perhaps she was busy thinking about her high school girl dramas, the Asian gentleman who served my table, as others have noted, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and recommendations. I went with the Firecracker Shrimp for an appetizer and the Triple General for my entrée. Both were topnotch, tasty, fresh, and not preserved in salt and MSG as is so prevalent in so many Chinese establishments. There was no doubt I was eating fresh shrimp, chicken and scallops, no mystery meat here. Good balance of flavors and exactly what i was craving. Well done! I'll be back again and will advise my friends to try it too!

I made one mistake: I only ordered one egg roll. Seriously best egg roll I've shoved into my face. General chicken was good too!

  • Anand M.

Thai Basil is good. Soups Hot & Sour is good. The 3 general is average. A bit on the sweet side and not spicy.

Very fresh, tasty food. The server was very friendly and stopped by a number of times to make sure we had all we needed. The food came out very quickly, in less than 10 minutes. The place is rather small, so it might be pretty busy during prime meal times (we went between 7:30 and 8:00PM).

Before my review, I must declare that I am a Chinese who originally born and raised in Taiwan, but lived in NYC for more than 15 years. My white husband is a native New Yorker, who prefers Chinese food when we go out. When we both relocated in Columbus, our first impression is that this city don't offer much authentic Chinese cuisine. We usually avoid going to any "fusion" Asian restaurant, because that usually means not only the food is not authentic, but usually it means the food doesn't taste like anything good. (Well, I must say this place is beg to differ!!!) However, since we went to all the cheaper (but not very good) buffet restaurants (Indian, Italian, Chinese, German) too often and being really sick with all of them lately, tonight my husband decided that we should go out to a restaurant of my choice. So while I was on the hunting mission in search for a new restaurant on Yelp, I am really curious about all the raves on Sesame Sea Asian Bistro, so I told my husband about it. When my husband hear "fusion", he hesitated, but I insisted that we should give it a try because all the good reviews, and we both glad we did. At the door, I was really impressed with the simple and elegant interior, almost thought we were in a modern Japanese restaurant. We did waited about two-three minutes at the door, although the woman at the counter was on the phone, she immediately greeted us and told me she'd be right with us. While we were waiting to be seated, I saw there's only one waiter cleaned the only two available tables. Since my husband was holding our baby boy, he's a little impatient, and jokingly said he wanted to go to the next door to Sushi dot Com, but I told him looks like we'd be seated soon. I was glad the waiter seated us shortly after. We ordered Shiitake Flounder, Mongolian Beef, and Chicken Flaming Wok Fried Rice. My husband was impressive with all the dishes we ordered, and I really loved the flounder (texture like soft tofu) and the Chicken fried rice (lightly salted, not greasy and flavorful). However, I thought their Mongolian Beef was too sweet, and usually this dish should not be sweet at all (their version was sautéed in Hoisin Soy sauce, no wonder! The sweet soy sauce usually pair with Peking duck or appetizers came with lettuce wraps). Anyway, I still enjoy the beef after all. All the dishes have good portion and reasonable price. The waiter who served us was very nice and helpful, but our little boy made a big mess on the floor with the fried rice, so we felt sorry for our waiter, we wanted to tip him a little more than 20%, since we knew he worked hard to clean our table before (I am not joking here). We were so full, we ended up taking the leftover flounder dish home. This is a good fusion Asian restaurant, and I think we'll be back soon!

Great place to eat. The food was so good and the service was great. There is spicy food for spicy lovers and also non-spicy for those that don't. 100% recommended.

Everything was on track here except I thought my selection was a little bland/underseasoned. Service was quite pleasant, portion size/price fine, and haivng soup included with the lunch was a nice touch. It was good enough that'd I'd be willing to go back and try some other dishes though.

Been here twice; still hesitant the first time to write a review because I thought it was out of beginner's luck that they got everything right. Also, I'm not too fond of asian-bistro kind of restaurants since they often lack of authenticity. But the second time, I gave up and rest my case. This place warrants a review, the best one. What distinguish Sesame Sea from other Chinese restaurants is the quality. You won't get a chicken floating above a pool of oil and sauce, or mushy half-beaten shrimp, or some other greasy stuff you usually find in a typical Chinese restaurant. Although it may not be the most authentic restaurant, the freshness and quality definitely make up for it. Now, you don't have to walk out from a Chinese restaurant feeling like you just gulp a glass of Canola oil. Some worth-trying dishes: black pepper scallop, seabass with shitake mushroom, and basil thai.

What a hidden gem! We were in the area last night after a visit with friends and found ourselves having a delightful Asian dinner. While I don't think we'd make the trip all the way from Clintonville every time we want Asian...it was a nice choice since we were in the area. Also, the food itself was very good, but it does lack ambiance. It's pretty lacking in decor. If I was to eat here on a regular basis, as a local, I'd probably get it to go and eat at home! Our waiter was very kind and helpful!

My work colleague and I just visited for lunch. It was so delicious I knew I needed to head back and write a review! We both had the lunch portion Chicken Pad Thai and it was huge! For the low price of $7.95 we got enough Pad Thai for two lunches each, AND a bowl of soup (I recommend the Wanton Soup- its delicious). The Pad Thai was spicy and sweet, filled with carrots, chicken, egg and scallions. The noodles were the perfect chewy! I am already dreaming about my leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We will be back soon and bring more friends next time!

We were craving chinese and wanted something different than our usual fav Blue Ginger. The 5 star reviews led us to Sesame Sea and we were immediately seated in the empty restaurant. I ordered steamed veggies with the sauce on the side and chicken fried rice made with brown rice, but I was disappointed to learn they don't have brown rice. I went ahead and got the fried rice anyway. My husband got the General Tso's chicken. The food came out super fast. Like Mexican restaurant fast, only faster. My veggies were fresh and delicious but the fried rice didn't taste very fried, more like regular rice with some peas and chicken and salt thrown in. The General Tso's chicken was ok but not made with all white meat, which always bums us out. I finished my veggies and had a few bites of fried rice and then contemplated what kind of pizza I wanted to pick up on the way home (I'm a big eater and cannot survive on veggies alone. Also I just really like pizza). The food wasn't horrible, but it didn't do much for us. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. Recommend Calamari and firecracker shrimp for appetizer. Thai basil trio and Singapore noodles are great entrees.

Good spot in Dublin for both a decent eat in atmosphere or take out. A bit more expensive than others but they can charge b/c only Chinese on that side of Dublin. They certainly have some very good & unique dishes. Not sure it's the best place for toddlers....can be hit or miss.

Went last night with my dad and one of his buddies. Place was pretty dead for a Saturday night, but food was incredible. Easily the best Chinese food in Columbus. I got shrimp in the kung pao sauce, very tasty. I can't believe it took me this long to try it out, but trust me, you won't be disappointed when you come here.

  • Ben B.

Went there for the first time today after reading the other good reviews. I agree with others this place is really good! For lunch I had the Thai Basil Trio. It was a nice size portion of Beef\Chicken\Shrimp in a really good spicey basil brown sauce. I liked that is was different from all the other standard Chinese dishes that we;re all probably sick of by now (General Tso, Beef with Broc, etc). Everything seemed fresh and high quality and just looked really tasty when they brought it out unlike other Chinese places that seem to think it's okay to serve food that looks like a plate of canned dog food. I also had an egg roll which was pretty standard except instead of being the tough rubbery outer shell that many places serve this seemed to be freshly fried and the inner stuffing tasted fresh and moist, overall a cut above the rest. Our waiter was really nice and checked in on us after giving us a few minutes to taste our food. He also promptly refilled our drinks which reminds me the hot tea was something special as well, just a little different taste that made it memorable. Overall very happy to have a new restaurant on my list for lunches during the week. Will be back soon!

Sesame Sea never disappoints. Arthur and his team at Sesame Sea have always exceeded my expectations, be it shrimp or chicken or vegetables. The hot and sour soup is so consistently good that I am unable to come to terms with soup from other Chinese places. Always fresh and always recommended. A welcome addition to the otherwise mediocre Athenry strip!!

I was in Dublin on a business trip and consulted Yelp to find a nice place to have lunch. Sesame Sea caught my eye pretty quickly as it had a 5 star rating. Although I don't always agree with my fellow Yelpers, I try to give them the benefit of the doubt most of the time and I certainly wasn't disappointed on this unusually warm Ohio winter day. I had Egg Drop soup, an Egg Roll and Hunan Chicken. All were quite delicious. The place was quaint, very clean and modern, and in a very upscale neighborhood. The service was excellent. I would have liked to have some crispy noodles to put in my soup, but it was quite good without any additions. By the time the waiter came back to the table, there was no poing in asking for some because I had already slurped down the entire bowl. If you prefer brown rice, be sure to ask for it when you order your food. I was given white rice by default.

Great food, Great staff, Great environment, I ordered multiple times from this place and the expectations are met. I love the General Chicken and the 3 Platter as well. Will be coming back all the time for lunch

We' ve visited twice and found something for the carnivores and vegan in our family. The restaurant is very small, call ahead for large parties. The Sesame Sea Lo Mein was outstanding; probably my favorite but the PadTi was also delicious with tofu! This small establishment is in a stip mall shared with Mary Keley's.

Found this place on Yelp! While traveling in the Dublin, OH area. Lots of 5-star reviews is hard to achieve so I thought I'd give it a whirl. The food is every bit as good as advertised. Hi-quality ingredients and well put-together. Spicy dishes were pretty hot. For me, thats a pretty big deal as my taste buds are largely dead given that I ate Jalapenos out of the jar as a kid. Service was friendly and quick. Arrived relatively late on Monday evening so I had no wait for a table or my meal. However, it's a pretty small restaurant tucked in the corner of a mini-mall. Could see where it could get crowded during prime-time.

Sesame Sea is your typical American-Chinese fare dressed up significantly nicer than 99% of other Chinese restaurants. The atmosphere at Sesame Sea was surprising at first - nice tiles and dark stained wood tables, a full bar and lounge music playing in the background. Although the TV detracted from the atmosphere a bit, it was kind of fancy and not what I expected at all. We got the Sesame Sea Sampler to start, which came with two fried crab wraps, two almond crusted shrimps, two skewers of beef and a sweet and sour sauce for dipping. All in all, everything was delicious but the beef and crab were my favorites. For our entrees I got the Mala Pork and my husband got the Mapo Tofu, since both are close to authentic. The Mala Pork is strips of pork stir fried with jalapenos, garlic and green onions with a spicy soy sauce. I was pleased that it wasn't swimming in sauce - it was just the right amount. It was very spicy and good. The Mapo Tofu is a bowl of tofu, pork and peppers in a spicy bean paste sauce. Spooned over a pile of rice, it was very delicious. It had a nice meaty, savory quality to it. The tofu itself was a bit bland, which was disappointing, but the rest of it was great. Our server was very nice and good about keeping drinks filled - considering how spicy our food was we were really appreciative of this. The food is not the best but it's still really good and the interior is a nice break from the usual that you see in most Chinese restaurants. The interior is small so if you go with a group be sure to reserve a table. Also, it's tucked in the back of a shopping center and is easy to miss.

Great to finally have good Asian food in our neighborhood. Definitely my favorite Hot and Sour soup in town and so far I've liked everything I eaten, primarily because the food is not over seasoned. With most other local Asian restaurants I still taste the food in my mouth the next day. (I hate that!) I never have that problem here. Sesame Sea is definitely worth a try.

Great food and incredibly friendly staff. It's a very small, quiet place but is great for families or dates. The restaurant is very clean and modern. Prices are appropriate for quality and quantity. Lunch specials carry-out are great.

After living in the Baltimore, MD/ Washington DC area for several years, during which time I only went to Chinese restaurants with my Chinese friends who ordered for me, I've become a bit of a snob when it comes to rating "authentic" Chinese food. Usually I look for a place to be filled with customers of the same ethnicity as the restaurant cuisine as a sign of a restaurant's ethnic authenticity. So I was a little skeptical when I saw only Caucasian customers during my first couple of visits. And their menu didn't really reassure me much; most of the items can be found on any Americanized-Chinese restaurant menu. HOWEVER, their food is absolutely amazing. So delicious that I want to eat slowly (even more slowly than I usually do) and truly savor every bite. Also the presentation of each dish is a work of art. The dishes may have familiar Americanized-Chinese menu names, but I can almost guarantee you that whatever you order will be the best you've ever tasted of that particular dish. And the service is also top-notch. Each time I've gone there it's been the same sole waiter, but he is efficient, attentive, and goes out of his way to please. This is the best service I've seen in any Columbus restaurant. So my conclusion is, "Who cares if this is REAL authentic Chinese food or not?" All I know is that the food is sublime and the whole dining experience is unbeatable.

I've been looking for a good Chinese place on this side of town, and think I have found my favorite. The service was great- very helpful but not intrusive. The menu is expansive, and I will go back to try many other things. I had the crab rangoon as an appetizer (on the menu as Special Crab Wrap.) Much better than most, with actual crab bits in the filling. Overwhelmed by choices, I tried the Three General- chicken, shrimp, and scallops in General Tso's sauce. Each meat was great. The scallops were very tender, something apparently hard to do at a restaurant, considering how often I've had them be chewy. The rice was nice, nothing amazing. The entree came with extremely fresh and lightly steamed broccoli. The lunch specials are reasonably priced, and include many more choices than most restaurants. Definitely worth repeat visits.

Great fresh ingredients, will for sure be a repeat customer. ::OK now that I am sitting down and have some time to actually write a proper review i will take some time on it. :: This place is one of my favorite new finds in the Dublin area. I love Thai and Asian food and this place is for sure very authentic and very very good. This night i ordered a spicy vegetable dish with tofu. The food was good perfectly, not too spicy, and the vegetables were garden fresh. The decor is a little on the sparse side but the food far makes up for any lack of visual appeal. The small place was very busy but food came out quickly and service was great.

Green beans were fresh and I liked them but they were not spicy. Saw a few pieces of jalapeños but needed more for heat and flavor. I requested the pan fried noodles soft and the chef accommodated my request well and they weren't greasy..YAY! The Mongolian trio was tasty however some of the pieces of beef tasted a lil Funny. Plenty of protein in all three dishes. They did not skimp on the meats. Staff is Pleasant and very nice. They have limited seating and can fill up quickly during peak times. A lot of to go orders while I was there. I would suggest they have a minimum of three wait staff during dinner Time.

Only been here for one lunch, but I was impressed! Way better than average Chinese food with all the favorites on the menu. Very classy ambiance, food was fast and hot, tasted great, friendly staff and prices were in-line with similar places. I will definitely try to get back here and if you are in the area, it is a great spot to hit up.

We were out-of-towners looking for really good food that wasn't found at a chain restaurant. I hopped on Yelp in my hotel room and found this place and am so glad I did! It's a tiny little place tucked in a quiet town just west of Columbus. The place was simple yet classy, impeccably clean and the food lived up to the Yelp raves! We had the spring rolls for appetizers and for our entrees, we had the Beef & Broccoli, the Three General and the Honey Sesame Chicken. The restaurant also offers wine and beer, but we didn't indulge. Every single dish was piping hot, nicely plated and, most importantly, fresh and oh so good. The Three General was my favorite. Just spicy enough and filled with huge portions of shrimp, scallops and chicken. We were there on a Thursday and it was quite busy. There was only one person serving and he was kept running back and forth to the tables, but his service was gracious and friendly. If we ever find ourselves anywhere in the vicinity of Dublin, OH in the future, we will certainly return.

We are guests in from out of town and I went to Yelp to locate a new place to go. After reading the revews, this looked like a safe bet. We were not dissappointed. I like really spicy food. I explained this to our waiter and requested that they prepare something - on or off the menu. The brought me a Shrimp entry with delicious vegetables with a marvelous mixture of spices and sauces. I loved it. The appetizers were a delight as well. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The service was very nice - welcoming and attentive. I will be back often and can't wait to taste the new creation since I have no idea what the original was. Enjoy.

We tried this restaurant based on such good yelp reviews and were not disappointed. We had a delicious meal. Food is very fresh and seasoned nicely. Saw all the great reviews so gave it a try for some last minute take home food. Bought 4 different dishes....by far, best Chinese food I have had in Central Ohio. Fresh, high quality ingredients, not oily, great taste and appearance....loved it. Will definitely be back soon, and will try dine in.

Excellent food and attentive service in a very pleasant Bistro environment. We have eaten there twice and been very impressed. My husband has also ordered carry out which was high quality so both our dine in and pick up experiences have all been very positive. Would definitely recommend Sesame Sea as it is a big step up from the typical Asian restaurant. There is a large menu with a number of unique menu items ...the shiitake flounder is terrific. And, prices are reasonable.

Delicous and fairly priced! My husband and I have visited this Bistro twice and were completely satisifed both times. The restaurant is small, and that allows the service to be top-notch. The food is freshly prepared and perfectly seasoned. A new favorite!

I was looking for some good reviews of Asian style food and found this restaurant. I took my daughter for lunch and tried the Chef's Broccoli, it was addictive. A smoky flavor and aroma coming from the Broccoli, the taste was fresh and not saucy as are so many Asian restaurants as if to hide something. The Hot and Sour soup was very nice. My daughter had the Honey Chicken and it also was wonderful. I loved the rice. The service at this restaurant was outstanding. This restaurant was so clean and not cluttered at all, making me feel like I was in a very open space, really kind of zen. Please try this restaurant, we do not want to lose this wonderful establishment dedicated to food.

Ok. The food at this place will knock your socks off. It is hands down the best Asian food in 614. I went in with no expectations, but will now be aggressively promoting this place every chance I get. We do not get restaurants like this in Dublin, and I am concerned about it being underappreciated. Trust me. Go here. You will not regret it. (And you must try the firecracker shrimp wonton.)

One of the best Chinese places in Columbus, and probably the best place in northwest part of the city. Service was excellent. Small place, not a huge amount of seating. But every dish we tried was excellent. Am looking forward to going back again.

The wait staff is really nice and polite. They offered to make us anything even if it's not on the menu. The sampler app was super. My fav was the shrimp but all 3 choices were winners. We've been there a few times and it's always dead so I wonder if they're going to stay in business. The positive side is you won't have to wait on a table or your food.

Best Chinese food I've had outside of China! It's perfectly spiced. The fried calamari was just the right amount of crispy and spice. The person that helped us gave us great suggestions. I will definitely be back!

I live a block away and didn't realize this restaurant had changed hands from the previous forgettable Pacific Fusion until I saw it on Yelp. The interior is completely redone and looks very classy. The staff was also very friendly. Food was a notch above typical Chinese fare. My wife flipped over the Three Musketeers. We grabbed a menu and look forward to trying more dishes.

Amazing food. My husband and I have had a difficult time finding a great Chinese restaurant in Dublin. We love this place. Great selection and delicious. We love that there are so many delicious options that are not just deep fried and covered in sauce. Great quality. We recommend the lemon grass chicken and thai basil trio. Give this a try, you will not be disappointed!

I think I am already on may way to putting the children of the owners through college ;-) I have eaten here numerous times -- takeout, lunch, dinner. Just across Muirfield from my house it is too tasty and close to ignore. Meats, seafood and veggies always fresh and yummy and of high quality! The egg rolls, spring rolls are fresh and hot, never greasy or seem as they have been sitting under a heat lamp or in a basket for hours. Crab wraps (rangoon) is great. Soups, which come with every lunch entree are simple and just right. For entrees: Coco Curry, Three Musketeers, Thai Basil Trio and anything honey sesame are worth trying. Pad Thai and Mongolian beef do not disappoint. Nice, clean comfortable restaurant. Excellent and friendly service.

This place is a gem. I am reluctant to write a review because this is one of best kept secrets in Metro Columbus, and we would hate to see it overwhelmed with business changing the character of this terrific establishment. We overlooked it for years, trudging over to Mary Kelley's, but when they closed we gave Sesame Sea a try one night. Oh My Gosh! The dishes are chef prepared with interesting little twists on Pacific Rim cuisine, fusing elements of Japanese, Thai, and Chinese food into an absolutely delicious palate of culinary delights. The seafood basket is literally a feast enveloped in fried rice noodles. The hot shrimp dishes are all the way to savory. The service is quick, friendly, accurate, and conveys a very real sense that the owners and staff of this place care on every level. The portions are generous, each time we have taken home lunch for the next day. Bar service is limited of appropriate. All in all, I have to recommend this small, authentic, reasonably priced eatery with all five stars...seriously!

We LOVE Sesame Sea! Arthur always takes care of us and even accomodates for our 3 kids! They love the Super Sonic Chicken on a Super Stick-which they created off the menu!

WOW! It's worth checking out.! Our neighborhood needs this! We experienced excellent service, very fresh ingredients, and a great menu of quality Asian fusion. Crisp green beans were exactly that.... something only an expert can pull off successfully. Everyone's food had special touches that evidenced this chef knows what's up. Presentation was great, also. It was worth us coming for a second consecutive night. So great to know that we now have outstanding Chinese food to grab and go close by, but I also wonder if word will spread on this place enough to draw from all over Dublin and beyond.

This is a new gem in Dublin if you're looking for excellent Asian fusion style cuisine. My husband ordered some take out including the Thai style fried rice and the chef's special Vietnamese lemongrass chicken. I'm typically not a fan of white meat chicken however the chicken was very juicy and tender as well as flavorful. The fried rice had the perfect touch of Thai cuisine a little spicy and sour--very delicious. The portions are good and just enough that you can order plenty of dishes to try. I'm looking forward to my dining in for my next visit!

I tend to crave Asian food (a lot), which can be problematic as my husband has Celiacs disease. We usually end up at PF Changs since they have a dedicated Gluten-free menu, but today I decided to have a "me" day and find myself some good gluten-y Asian food. The waiter was super friendly and gave great menu suggestions, the Pad Thai was delicious, and the portion size was HUGE for a "lunch special." I liked my meal so much that I decided to ask if they offer anything gluten free so I can bring the hubs along one day (but let's be honest, I'll obviously be back with or without him). Oh the irony when I find out that the Pad Thai I devoured was gluten free. They seem to also be pretty accommodating as they listed a number of dishes that can be made GF. I'm excited to return and especially excited it won't have to be solo. :)

Always loved this place for take out, but the last two times we have been disappointed! Hot and sour soup had an odd taste to it and the wonton soup was bland and had one wonton in it! Egg rolls were delicious, but my sweet sesame chicken tasted like it was sitting in a heating tray all day. I ended up giving the rest of it to my dogs.... :(

Love this place, they always use fresh veggies, so no canned water chestnuts, Yeah! I've never been a big fan of egg rolls that is until I tried theirs, simply delicious. Try the vietnamese Lemon Grass Chicken, very light and yet tasteful. Not your average "chinese" restaurant.

In the mood for Chinese/ Asian food so decided to try Sesame Sea. Ordered the standards of Sweet & Sour Chicken & Kung Po Chicken with an Egg Roll. Overall, felt the meals were "fine" & met the basic requirements. But can't claim it was outstanding. Pricing was reasonable & service was excellent.

Tried the Thai Basil Trio today. It came with beef, shrimp, and chicken, as well as some veggies. The food is indeed Americanized, yet they are pretty delicious. If you are looking for some authentic Asian food, this is probably not the place for you. Overall it is still very yummy and with great service! Would recommend and most likely will visit again!

Disclaimer: The number of stars does not reflect the tastiness/quality of the dishes offered here. The food is good, but it's not "authentic Chinese food." My boyfriend and I came here after we saw a Yahoo article claiming that this was the best Chinese restaurant in Ohio. We'd been to a few that were not bad, so we made the long trek out here to check it out. The staff are very friendly and attentive, although I wonder if that might have anything to do with the fact that they asked me where I'm from and I said California... They came by to ask how everything was many, many, many, many times, which I thought was a bit weird, although I do appreciate that they put forth the effort. Back to the whole authentic thing - I repeat, the food here is good, but it's not by any means authentic (or at least very much not true to the names of the dishes). We ordered the seafood soup, the ocean basket, the pork and eggplant casserole, and the ma po tofu. The soup is pretty standard and I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, although I did very much enjoy the flounder pieces, which were very well-cooked and soft. However, the scallop was a bit underwhelming and bland. The ocean basket was much, much sweeter than anything I'd ever tasted, and although the texture of the seafood (especially the breaded scallops and flounder) and veggies was spot-on, the excess glucose was a bit too overwhelming. This dish is also served in a bowl made of fried hash browns, which was pretty tasty after being generously soaked in the sauce all evening. Same sugar issue with the pork/eggplant casserole, although it wasn't as severe. Otherwise, the eggplant was cooked very well and nicely soft, but just a bit too sweet. Now, to the ma po tofu. This dish deserves a paragraph for itself so that I can properly compliment and critique it. The warm and soft tofu is nicely complemented by a mildly spicy but very thick sauce (maybe a bit too thick, but no real complaints on that). I really enjoyed this dish (easily my favorite of the four we ordered), and I would definitely order it again if I came back here...but it's not actually ma po tofu! First off, ma po tofu is supposed to be very, very, very spicy! That's the whole point of the name - 麻 implies that it's so spicy that it'll numb your tongue! This dish, while very flavorful and tasty, doesn't even come close...heck, I don't even know if I'd even call the dish spicy at all, considering that I've probably eaten onions that packed more punch than this... To summarize (as if I haven't said it enough times already) - it's a good restaurant, but it's definitely not "authentic Chinese." If anything, I'd categorize it as a strange hodge-podge mess of trying to to appear authentic whilst still catering to the standards of Americanized Chinese food... and those are two ends of the scale that really don't mix.

Amazing Hot and Sour soup which is always my favorite. Fresh veggies and fungi, yummm. The crab rolls actually taste like real crab and are delicious. This is a refreshing change compared to the bulk of Chinese places. I came for the high reviews and the funny thing is my mom lives a block away and never tried it. She loves it. The triple general or whatever that is was awesome. Chicken scallops and shrimp and the seafood was fresh and did not taste like it came out of a sewer somewhere in Laos. Overall very very good I highly recommend this place.

I really have to say that Sesame Sea is my favorite Asian food in all of Columbus. Tucked away in a tiny strip mall aside rural Dublin condos, it would be easy to miss. Seriously though, make the trek up here. If you work nearby, definitely go for lunch. The menu has some really interesting selections. Alongside the normal General Tso and sesame chicken, you have really cool stuff like the Grand Marnier which is kind of a chicken fruit salad. Totally unique and tasty. The prices are extremely reasonable during lunch. You can get out of here under 10 bucks easily. Service has always been fast and friendly and the food comes out SUPER FRESH. Seriously, it is sometimes too hot to eat and cooked perfectly. The inside of the restaurant is always kept up perfectly and feels so clean.

I loved most everything about Sesame. The decor is simple, relaxing & fits the establishment well. We were there around 4:30 pm, because apparently I am 70 & eat dinner at 4:30pm....needless to say, we were the only table there. We ordered crab wraps, beef broccoli & chicken lo mein. I loved everything - minus the crab wraps, but it was just a personal thing, they were good. Just not for me. Service was quick and professional. I will return!

We each had won ton soup which was very flavorful ! Broth was temperature perfect. We shared The Three Musketeer dish which was delicious ! The ginger flavor was excellent and very generous with the peanuts. We will definitely be going back. Hot tea was very tasty as well.

Been there a ton of times - always great, SUPER fresh Asian food (not a single thing is frozen - it's all fresh food... imagine that?!). The owners are all super helpful with the menu and anything can be customized. Want it more spicy? They'll make it more spicy. Medium? No problem. Your taste buds can't take soy sauce? They'll make it bland for you (although, you'd probably be better off microwaving your own egg rolls at home if this is the case). While we've ventured off to try other Asian food joints, we always come back to this place for the good stuff. Never has Asian food tasted so healthy.

This is a small restaurant, kind of hard to spot at first but I'm glad I found it. The decor is very simple and clean. They're not an authentic Chinese restaurant, the food tastes more fusion, but it's very tasty! I had the Jap Chae which is suppose to be a Korean dish, but it tastes more like the noodles found in southern China. All the ingredients are very fresh and came out steaming hot. Another great thing about this restaurant is the service. Everyone here were super friendly, always had a smile on their faces, and always cleared the dirty dishes away and I was never left with an empty glass of water! Definitely will come again

Very basic atmosphere but with fantasic food with lots of flavor. Had Kung Pao Chicken and it was so flavorful. The taste of fresh ginger made this dish so wonderful. Great portion sizes. Great service, great food....we will be back!!

You lucky mother fuckers of the Dublin/Columbus area. I told the waiter if any of you assholes treat him bad I will happily help them re-locate to the Chicago suburbs. First off, the place is adorable. Clean, matching modern decor, and a great soundtrack (seriously, while there we heard Thievery Corporation, Norah Jones, and the ending theme to Cowboy Bebop). If you're trying to woo someone into sexy times, you could do worse than Sesame Sea. Now for the totally reeedic-u-lisssss food. It's fuck you good and that's not a compliment I give lightly, in fact, I've never given it before (Dear restaurant owner, feel free to use that compliment on your menus "Joe from IL says 'It's fuck you good", it can only add class to your establishment). We started with veggie spring rolls and firecracker dumplings. The spring rolls were stupid fresh and light despite being fried. The firecracker dumplings were the perfect amount spicy (disclaimer: I like spicy, they would've melted my wife's face off) and steamed to perfection. Then came the entrees, Thai basil trio and General Tso' Chicken. The Thai Basil was great, no complaints. However, the General Tso' was the best I've ever had. Perfect light breading that was a bit crispy and a sauce that wasn't over powered by sugar just well balanced. Since it was a Tuesday night it wasn't busy and the waiter gave us close attention. He was so fucking cute. He literally skipped when hurrying to refill our drinks. Who does that? I would make the 6 hour trip to come back to this place.

Yahoo Ranks Sesame Sea Asian Bistro best chinese in the entire state of Ohio: Sesame Sea Asian Bistro, 7106 Muirfield Drive, Dublin. 4.5 stars, 85 reviews Sesame Sea Asian Bistro serves many classic American-Chinese dishes, but most have a twist that sets them apart. There are also some truly unique dishes - Grand Marnier chicken or shrimp, shitake flounder, mala pork, and firecracker shrimp - that make things interesting. "Totally unique and tasty ... extremely reasonable prices," writes Mike C. of Upper Arlington. The simple, refined décor keeps things relaxed, while Sesame Sea's food adds the excitement. "Every dish I've had here so far has been ... excellent," says Kaoru M. of Northwest Columbus. yahoo.com/food/the-best-…

This was our first time here and everything was excellent, especially the customer service. I don't think our drinks every got more than a quarter empty before they were topped off, and it wasn't in that annoyingly chatty way some waiters do either, just polite, prompt, and professional. Firecracker shrimp dumplings, Three Musketeers, and the sizzling Black Sea. All three were delicious. Their sauces are house made so not that thick syrupy goop, just light and full of flavor. The Black Sea had lightly breaded shrimp and scallops, and the amount of breading was perfect, again nothing heavy-handed. We went here based on Yelp reviews, and we were not disappointed. We were so impressed by the service we thought we would add our 2 cents.

This is one of my new favorite Chinese restaurants in Columbus. It's a bit tucked away in Dublin, closer to the residential parts of Muirfield Drive in Dublin. But it's certainly worth the trek out to try this place. I've only been here for lunch before, so I can't comment on their dinner here. The building is modern, albeit small. Although overcrowding has never been an issue at lunchtime, I'm not sure how it is at dinnertime. The servers here are all very friendly and the service is quick. Since we tend to eat family style at Chinese restaurants, we order 6-7 dishes at a time. With that said, every dish I've had here so far (basil beef, ma po tofu, sesame chicken, singapore noodles, firecracker shrimp, fried rice, hot & sour soup, dumpling soup, etc.) have been simply excellent. Although I can't claim expertise on tofu dishes, my office staff say this place has the best ma po tofu they've ever had. This place isn't exactly authentic Chinese, but it's also not your typical fully Americanized greasy Chinese takeout food. If anything, it feels most similar to the locally adapted Chinese food that I've had in Japan. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, regardless of your ethnic background!

2nd trip back & very delicious. Great menu with such an assortment of unusual (yet - very accessible) Asian dishes. Fun to try something different than my normal "Chinese food take-out". Can recommend the Special Crab Wonton (Crab Rangoon) and the Three Musketeer main entree. Wasn't as keen on the firecracker wontons - the sauce overwhelms a lackluster filled dumpling. However. the Three Musketeer is packed with delicious chicken, shrimp & beef. Huge portion of yummy veggies & a delicious sauce round out a real delightful entree. Only negative for the night was the very slow service. The place was very crowded (all tables full) and lots of take-out orders. The appetizers showed up with 20 mins between them (we even had to ask about the 2nd one) & perhaps that's why the firecracker dumplings were lackluster. We were certainly ready for our meal by then. I wouldn't hold it against them --- and, certainly return again.

O-M-S-G!!!! Mongolian Beef awesomeness. Party of three. Ordered the Firecracker Dumplings and they were delicious. Mongolian Beef was hot (temp) and very flavorful. Reminiscent of PF Changs but better. Highly recommend this dish. Too much food with the dumpling appetizer. Had lunch for the next day. The waiter was very attentive. My glass never got less than half full. The Bossa Nova playing in the background and the cleanliness made the entire experience great.

This is some good Chinese food. Not greasy, and full of flavor. Even though my main course was pretty darn good, the Hot and Sour Soup was the star of the show. Excellent. I will be back to try more. I would give the soup a 5 and the main course a 4 as it needed a little more flavor.

First, I'm sure I am not the only parent that has a hard time finding a place where my 2 year old tornado of a child is welcome. These folks were not only nice to my children, they were actively making attempts to make sure there was an endless supply of fortune cookies to keep the baby distracted enough for the rest of us to enjoy our dinner. At one time I requested our dinner be packaged to-go because my daughter was having a moment. The man in charge, in an unprecedented act of patience and understanding, encouraged us to stay and enjoy ourselves, which we did successfully thanks to the fantastic staff. And... Second, The food is everything the reviews will say. It is definitely the best I've had in town. It is no wonder why people come from all over for this restaurant. The service and quality is well beyond anything I've seen in recent years. As a restaurant owner myself, I can honestly say this is a true example of how it can be done right. Nice job, Sesame Sea. We will be back soon.

We are regulars but I feel the quality has gone down recently. I also got 2 take-out lunches & upgraded to fried rice and was charged $5 extra by a woman named Fung. And it contains very few veggies & doesn't even looked fried...more like someone just added a drop of soy sauce to it. I'm so angry about this and their drop in food quality that I might not return.

Disappointing dinner. I chose this one because of the stellar reviews and the photos that depicted a spot that was a cut above the hole-in-the wall and the buffet we have here in Marysville. Food was OK, but rather greasy. The soup was oily and not particularly tasty. Portions and prices were fair. We tried the Honey Sesame Chicken (best of the lot), General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mien and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Would not recommend the Hot and Sour Soup (which was neither) nor the Egg Drop Soup. I would give this place a second chance. After all, it was Sunday and the food likely sat for 30 minutes before being consumed. The facility was clean, and staff were friendly and professional. This wasn't a bad meal - it just fell short of expectations. If given the choice, I would drive a little further to the Windchimes next time for a sure winner.

During the last 3 years, we have come to this restaurant every time we crave for Chinese. I have had Chinese in at least 12 different restaurants in Columbus, and this place is not just the best; it's way above all of them! Every time we come to this restaurant, we order something that we have not tried before, and every time we are amazed how delicious and fresh the dishes are. They told us that they never use 'canned' vegetables (apparently all bamboo shoots are canned!) You don't just taste the fresh ingredients, you taste very balanced spices. Their fried rice, is a tasty combination of rice, peas, and egg, which we prefer over their white rice. Just give it a try!

We chose Sesame Sea Asian Bistro based on the great Yelp reviews and we were very delighted that it lived up to its online reputation. The staff was friendly and attentive. I'd recommend the Firecracker Dumplings, the Coco Curry, Pork Fried Rice, and the Angus Steak with Black Pepper Sauce. Sauces were delicious and flavorful, veggies were fresh, and the meats were prepared expertly. I'd give 4 1/2 stars if I could to reflect the lackluster atmosphere of the interior, but definitely 5 stars for the food and service. We will be back for sure.

Glad I followed the recommendations to eat dinner here. In town for a few days from Minneapolis. Very attentive and friendly service. Inexpensive wine options. Ordered the Thai Basil Trio. Great flavors. Better get a glass of ice water to cool down. I'll be back!

For a hole-in-the-wall, this place has a calm sense of class combined with a full menu of good food in decent portion size. The options were more creative than many places, and the service was solidly attentive. If a soup says it serves 2, it probably does; I couldn't finish mine. The entrees were all crisp and fresh-tasting, with plenty of flavor. You might as well try it out! And there are always fortune cookies at the end, of course.

On a drive down I-71 from Cleveland to Cincinnati, I decided to try this place, as seemed to have overwhelming approval from the reviewers, including several Asians. That being said, I was also tempered with the knowledge that this was a fusion restaurant of sorts, so flavors wouldn't necessarily be authentic by any means and may be more for the American crowd. OK. That's not so bad. We have one called Siam Cafe in Cleveland that works pretty well. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dishes or I decided to eat there close to closing time or I've been biased from what's in Cleveland, but I was overall unimpressed. I ordered the Three Musketeers. The sauce was OK. A hint of sweetness, and the seafood and meats were pretty good. The dish was indicated to be spicy in the menu, but none of it was there. The vegetables also complemented the dish pretty well. The big mistake was ordering the Braised Tofu with Vegetable. The tofu wasn't very good, and was probably the best part of the dish. The sauce was just straight out of place and did not go well with the dish at all. I almost didn't want to bother finishing the dish or even take it home. (And to speak to how bad it was: I'm Asian, and I eat just about everything that comes across my plate.) What also bothered me is that the vegetables mostly western vegetables, which don't belong. The menu seems to play it safe to the American clientele and doesn't really get creative for actual Chinese food. If I may, that Braised Tofu with Vegetables can just work with garlic, ginger, and a bit of cornstarch. Bam! You're done and delicious. None of this brown sauce business that doesn't need to be there. On the other hand, the ambiance, setting, and service were pretty good, especially for an Asian establishment. However, with this kind of food, I'd be hard pressed to want to visit here again when I drive through next time. If I do come back here next time, maybe I should order the actual seafood dishes. Or then, maybe just try closer to the OSU campus.

After my most recent visit, giving them the 5-star review they deserve. This is a hidden neighborhood gem, and truly deserves recognition as part of Yelp's belief in supporting Local Businesses. Nestled in the plaza on Avery-Muirfield but easily missed as you race into the residential neighborhood of Dublin. I have tried several things here: Hunan beef, Sizzling Black Sea, Shiitake Flounder. All 3 entrees had great flavor, felt authentic, and great portions. If I could, I would enjoy that Hunan beef 2-3 times a week and then spend the rest of the week picking other items off the menu. Customer Service: Staff has a great memory and will generally greet their returning customers with smiles and make some chit chat. They are constantly refilling beverages for dine-in patrons and asking "How's everything?" Do NOT be fooled by the lack of decor or the fact that this place isn't having a line to be seated. The clientele of this establishment is composed of many local residents who take this great food home to enjoy with their friends and family. If a full restaurant is what attracts you, go on Friday night where waits can be 15-20 min to be seated.

This is a take out Chinese place for us. For a that purpose, it's pretty good. The standard American Chinese/thai fare here is decent, but this is definitely not authentic Chinese or Thai. We've tried a wide variety of dishes. Their pad thai is pretty good, the twice cooked pork is average, their beef and broccoli is not bad, and general Tso's is average. The soups are good, the appetizers vary. The steamed dumplings are above average for the area, the spare ribs are below average. Some of their speciality dishes are tasty, as are the rotating specials they carry. In fairness it's closer to 3.5 stars than 3 stars.

This is some good Chinese food. Not greasy, and full of flavor. Even though my main course was pretty darn good, the Hot and Sour Soup was the star of the show. Excellent. I will be back to try more. I would give the soup a 5 and the main course a 4 as it needed a little more flavor.

The food here is very good... Portions are large and prices very reasonable. The Pad Thai is my family favorite and it scores very high with all my friends. The place is very clean and modern and the staff very cordial. attentive and friendly. Don't miss this place.

Very good food, basic plain decor which leads to a bit of ambient noise when busy but not bad. The service was very good, they checked on us often but not too much. Good variety of menu items. Will be back to try more.

  • Brian M.

Great place to eat. The food was so good and the service was great. There is spicy food for spicy lovers and also non-spicy for those that don't. 100% recommended.

Everything was on track here except I thought my selection was a little bland/underseasoned. Service was quite pleasant, portion size/price fine, and haivng soup included with the lunch was a nice touch. It was good enough that'd I'd be willing to go back and try some other dishes though.

Enjoy.

Saw all the great reviews so gave it a try for some last minute take home food. Bought 4 different dishes....by far, best Chinese food I have had in Central Ohio.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
