Solid offerings in the pizza department, and free refills on soda. TVs everywhere so this could even double as a good place to catch a game. the "cosmic" atmosphere and service is definitely a stand out, but it's in no way offensive or not family friendly. $16.55 pre-tip for a 10" specialty and a soda, but I could have easily split the pizza with another person and just added another soda to make it into a sub $10/person dinner. Insiders tip - men, don't forget to stop in the bathroom to play some urinal roulette.

The food here is always great. We've come here probably every month to get our pizza fix and its consistently great. Their hummus is delicious, their pizzas are usually always good. What keeps us coming back though is definitely the awesome staff. Every visit we've always received a great welcome. I think our one waitress was named Brooke? She was seriously one of the best waitresses we've experienced in any restaurant. She gave us so many refills, was very down to earth, and even gave us a cup to go. They also have a great beer menu. I usually grab a pint of something when I'm there.

Awesome service and this pizza is really good! If I were you and near by, I would check this place out. Taste fresh unlike pizza places that have a conveyor belt. I ate the pepperoni and cheese so I can't tell you about the topping. Like I said, give it a try.

Were seated promptly on a busy Saturday evening. Had a super friendly waitress. The pretzels and beer cheese came out quickly and were amazing. Pizza followed shortly behind and was very good as well. The noise level was a little overwhelming out on the patio, but that was due partly to a loud talker one end, and five children under the age of seven on the other end. I prefer the Polaris location, but this was good as well.

The pies are great, but the staff at this Mellow Mushroom are dumb! We went here once and ordered a pizza and asked for BBQ chicken as a topping on a regular cheese pizza. When they brought it out, they brought out their BBQ chicken pizza. They then left the pizza on our table for 10 minutes, so we said that we would bring it to a friend since we weren't going to eat it. When the bill came they expected us to pay for the pizza that they messed up and would have tossed out. Last night we came and asked for a table outside and they said they didn't have any. The kid who sat us only looked at the seating chart. He then proceeded to lead us to a table inside, he didn't even ask if we wanted to wait for an outside table. As we walked to our table, we glanced outside and there was a table with no one sitting at it. It took me literally two second to see that, yes indeed there was a table open. He didn't even take the time to look. So we took us to a table inside, and before we even sat, we decided that we wanted to get our pizza to go because the dining room was just too loud for what we were looking for that night. So we make out way back to the entryway of the restaurant and proceed to order a small cheese pizza to go. The girl at the counter tells us that it will be 25 min for our pizza and we say we are going to wait in the car. We asked her if she could call us when it was ready because we didn't want to continually walk in a check on it (it doesn't always take 25 min for their pizzas to bake). Anyway, she gives us a look like we are crazy. Would it really be that hard for her to pick up the phone and tell us that our pizza is ready? Anyway, we sat in the car and read the paper while waiting, which was much more enjoyable than sitting in the restaurant. When I did go in to get our pizza the girl did show me the pizza to check and make sure it was right, so that is a plus, but over all the service wasn't the greatest experience. We have had much better service at the Polaris location. And, we thought the pizza has been better at the Polaris location. The crust is always wonderful, but last night we felt like the pizza felt thinner than normal. It wasn't bad, just we always order the small because it seems like the smalls have a thicker crust. I wish I could give them a 3.5, but I don't want to knock them down to a 3 because I really do think they have one of the best pies in town (just not the greatest service, and I don't usually care how great the service is, I am just into ordering, eating, and leaving).

Pretty good pizza if slightly lacking a bit in taste. Toppings were first rate and service was good( slow lunch period on a Thursday) .

Good but the hype doesn't meet reality here. Their pizza is here but the way people gush over this place I expected better pizza. Staff is less

Great selection of beer in a clean environment with different flavors of pizza. Service is always consistent and friendly.

Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Sauce and crust are good, toppings are awesome. Takes some time to cook but well worth it, and there's a ton of beer selections as well.

Way over-priced for lousy pizza. Because I'm allergic to gluten, I was pretty excited to find another place in Columbus where I could eat pizza. Being gluten-free and dairy-free makes you miss pizza. A lot. So, I have only tried the gluten free pizza and can only really comment on that item. That being said, don't waste your time coming here. Both times I came here and at both locations in Columbus, my pizza was served cold. When it's cold the gluten-free crust combined with the sauce gets mealy and the texture is pretty weird. I can honestly make a better pizza at home with store-bought gluten-free crust. Then there's the price. My husband and I had lunch at this location last week and the bill without tip was $37 for two sodas, a small pizza and a gluten free pizza with two toppings. When we went to the Polaris location, we had the same experience except that our bill, again without tip, was over $60 for one gluten-free pizza, one large pizza, one soda, and two beers. Are they kidding with that??? Oh and finally, the decor. Not that it matters that much, but I just have to say that it looks like what corporate types think hippies are into. I mean murals with people playing golf and a hippie running across the green? Artisan mushroom handles on the bathroom doors? Give me a break. As you can tell from this review, I'm definitely not coming to either location again. I mean, it's pizza. And it's not even very good pizza. If it wasn't so expensive, I probably wouldn't have been so harsh. I feel pretty ripped-off overall, but I guess I can only blame myself since I went more than once. Shame on me...

Coming from the South where this chain has originated, this is hands down the best pizza in Columbus. And, I'm sorry to say it, but finding good pizza in C-bus is NOT an easy task. So when MM finally opened in Polaris, I was thrilled to have pizza that was not crappy Donatos. As much as I love MM, this Dublin location far surpasses the Polaris location for ambience and most especially, service. At the Polaris location on a busy night, you could wait up to 1 1/2 hrs for a table. Same night at the Dublin location, and your wait is much less. Furthermore, the waitstaff at the Dublin location knows their stuff backwards and forwards, especially in terms of beer, which is a staple of the restaurant. Additionally, the pizza always comes out perfect with a reasonable wait time. I've been to this location during a low time and during a peak time and service and quality of food has always been great. I believe the owners of this MM are the same as the Polaris one, but they have surely learned their lesson with the opening of the Polaris location and made great improvements with the Dublin MM. I know lots of people love Hounddogs and swear it is the best pizza in town, and while I think their pizza is good, their crust is just NOT the same. MM is the best pizza here in Columbus and I hope the chain continues to open more locations in the surrounding area. Furthermore, MM is more family friendly than Hounddogs, and although I don't have any children, I think it's important for restaurants to attract a wide array of customers. Kudos, MM!

For our first visit we made it a buffet ordering a little of everything starting with desert...fresh made pretzels with cinnamon and sugar and honey. Next our entree. We shared the cheese calzone stuffed with mushroom and roasted red pepper and a small pizza with pesto, artichoke hearts, chicken and onion. The toppings were generous and overall delicious! One negative, no kids menu yet kids drinks and coloring sheets were available.

I got take-out from MM on a day that I was helping my mom pack up her house and needed easy no-utensil food. I called ahead and ordered the pizza so that I could pick it up after taking my mom to get the rental truck. Basically it was good pizza but nothing special, in my opinion. I got a very basic pizza with mushrooms and their regular (thick) crust. I thought the crust was tasty but not overwhelming. I was also disappointed that the pizza wasn't hotter, considering I picked it up exactly on time. I would certainly get pizza from MM again but I probably wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Pizza was great, and the service was even better. Doesn't get much better around columbus.

The pizza itself was good, but the service was a little slow for such a relatively empty night. I had to ask for my check from the hostess, as I hadn't seen my server for some time.

Awesome pizza!! Slow service. We saw our server once to take our order and again when presented the bill. Order everything the first chance you get!! Worth it though for the pizza!!

I love Mellow Mushroom! I have been to the one in Myrtle Beach, but never here in Dublin. Was just as satisfied with this one. The hummus appetizer is OUTSTANDING, and their pizza is amazing! TRY IT TRY IT TRY IT!! I love that mellow mushroom always has a wide aray of unusual draft beer too!

We went here last week on a Friday night. The restaurant was really packed! However the service was great despite how busy they were. The pizza was pretty good... we had the house special which came with a ton of toppings. Overall not my favorite pizza in Cbus, but it was hot and fresh and came with great service, so I would definitely go back.

We ate there on a Sunday evening. The pizza was overpriced but it was good. They have a great beer selection but watch out, they charge $7.00 a beer!!!

Came excited to try them out after a recommendation from a friend. most bizarre decor inside. Only good thing about the pizza was the crust. Their red sauce is flavorless. Too much cheese that isn't very good. Also had the melloteranean which was blah. Will stick with the tried and true thick crust Donatos forever. Don't know why I ever stray from them.

Pros: variety of pizza selections including dairy free, vegan and vegetarian. Made to order, not frozen. Quality ingredients. Tastes great. Cons: a bit pricey. Review: My first visit to this place was two days ago. I really enjoyed the pizza but thought it was a bit overpriced. Most large pizzas are around $25. I don't generally order delivery pizza because I think they are overpriced too. Lol but this is obviously better quality. The main reason we went here is because my husband is sensitive to lactose so he hardly ever eats pizza. All in all I will probably go back when I'm in the mood for pizza. ;)

My husband and I came here last night because we bought the $20 groupon for Mellow Mushroom. Luckily we ordered a really good pizza because I think the last time tried their pizza I didn't think much of it and it was at their Polaris location. I swear I thought the guy who served our pizza to us was a Yelper I knew, thank god I didn't address him by that person's name or he would be asking me who's that? I think we also came at the wrong time since they were getting ready to close. Although I can highly recommend ordering the white rabbit. No, silly you won't be eating a rabbit even though my husband thinks it's actually delicious. You will be getting the following from this pizza; artichoke, mushrooms, olive oil, garlic topping, choice of feta choice or meat topping. So now that you know you won't be eating from a live rabbit, are we good? Is this kosher to try? Well I don't know about that, but you'll just have to come to one of the Mellow Mushroom locations and check it out yourself!

I absolutely love a good pie! But I don't think I'm the only one to say that, it's hard to find a solid pie. I looked forward to the Mellow Mushroom from what I heard, but it's okay, but nothing amazing. They try to be a bit fancy with he combinations, but it ends up being a bit cavalier and tastes pretty good, but not great. The crust, will get soggy very quickly. 'nuff said I guess...

First and foremost, the beer selection is great!! A wide variety of drafts & bottles. Pizza crust is handmade, crisp and great! Sauce us very good, and toppings are wonderful. We got the kosmic karma but you can make your own pizza if you wish. We also got hot wings and they were some of the best I've ever had! Very 420 type ambiance, mushroom lights and decor, but still somehow family friendly. A hard combination to pull off! We had a very cool bartender, made the experience that much better. We will defiantly be back!

I've eaten here a few times now and I think it's pretty good. They have a great selection of brews, something for every beer geek. I've eaten a couple different subs and they've been pretty good. The pizza is out of this world though! I love all the different combinations they have. It's a great place to hang with friends or family. I've been a couple of times on business lunches too. It's a must try.

Awesome bbq chicken pizza. Lemon beer is way better than any I have had! Don't forget to get the cheeses bread too!

I love all Mellow Mushrooms; they have a pretty decent product. I never liked pizza crust but I love theirs. They have a good selection of salads as well. This location gets busy pretty quickly. We went at 5pm on a Friday and they were packed within the hour. They seem to fill up quickly other days of the week as well. The servers are attentive and quick to fill your glasses.

So overpriced. From the food to the beer. Their food is good, but I'm not sure it's worth the price.

I love Mellow Mushroom, it's a great chain and I love seeing how much they have expanded into Ohio. That being said, this wasn't my favorite Mellow Mushroom. I'll start with the good. If you have been to a Mellow Mushroom - you know the vibe. It's a bit hippy, trippy, and all around good. They have a lot of draft, they have good pizza that is very fresh, and it's usually a bit of an alternative to the typical pizza joint. This one has all of that, but where most Mellow Mushrooms I've been to keep the TVs with the sports contained to the bar, this one puts TVs in the dining room too. It's not my favorite thing. Otherwise, it's got the beer-love going on and lots of trippy mushroom paintings typical of a Mellow Mushroom. The service here was really slow and not great, slower than normal. They make all pizzas to order, but this one felt like it took forever. Like significantly longer than other pizza places. Drink refills were scarce as well. The food is good here though, so definitely come for that. As always with Mellow Mushroom, the pizza is really tasty and has a nice, grainy crust. The best for me is the red skin potatoe pizza - it's interesting and very yummy (minus the ranch for me). I also love the BBQ Chicken only I personally replace with tofu.

I'd only been to a Mellow Mushroom in Phoenix/Tempe before, and it was after a night of checking out some of the bars on the strip. I remember getting a late night slice of cheese pizza and sitting at some type of bar, and that's about it! That restaurant definitely did not have a family feel to it. Fast forward a few years, and I'm at a Mellow Mushroom in Dublin for a baby shower luncheon. Totally different atmosphere! First, they were very accommodating with our group of 10. We were able to make a reservation beforehand and were seated immediately. Our group was handled expertly, and our waiter was really friendly and nice. The food was delicious! I got the lunch special which was a salad (caesar or tossed), a slice of pizza with 2 toppings, and a fountain drink. It was $6.95. The salad was amazing! Definitely not one of those skimpy side salads I've come to expect from restaurants. The dressing was great, it was covered in cheese, the bowl was tilted in a whimsical way... not usually one to rave about side salads, it was awesome! My slice of pizza was HUGE too. I wanted olives and mushrooms on it and was surprised to be asked, "black, green, or kalamata? Portabella, regular, or [some other variety I can't remember]?" Above and beyond in selection! I was really enamored with our food, our service, and our overall experience. I would definitely come back with my boyfriend. Something important to note, and something that will definitely affect when we come back, is that I was alerted to the fact that at dinnertime, especially on Friday and Saturday, there are kids running around and screaming. There is even supposedly a clown who makes balloons. If that's your scene, awesome! It's not really ours, so we might stick to coming for lunch.

Overall the pizza is delicious and they use tasty ingredients. Awesome specialty pizzas, my favorite is the holy shiitake. Dough is just average but the toppings make up for it. Decor is a little cheesy for my taste, no pun intended :) Will be back because I love pizza.

I would give a 3.5 if I could -- many things at Mellow Mushroom deserve a 4 or higher, but a few drawbacks make this place just A-OK for me. I acknowledge that some of the features that are a drawback for me might be positive for others. First, the good: pizza is delish. I'm not really a huge pizza fan to begin with, so I can get a bit picky about 'za. Ingredients were fresh, the toppings satisfying, and the crust was some of the best I've had in awhile. We had some specialty pizzas, though I can't recall the exact compositions. I get the sense you can't go wrong. The other food items looked good too -- I was pleasantly surprised by the appetizer and salad offerings. Beer list was also above-average. Service was pretty good: friendly if a bit scatter-brained. They were very accommodating of my infant twin niece and nephew, even bringing out special stands for their car-seat/carrier thingies. In fact, we chose to meet here in the first place because we thought it might be baby-friendly. On that note, I hate children, and Mellow is full of families. I know, maybe "hate" is too harsh -- but let's just say I tend to avoid them whenever possible (unless it's my adorable niece and nephew, of course). So... great for families! Not so great for people (like me) who find being in close proximity to strangers' kids their own personal hell. The next major drawback (for me): the theme. It's like a hippy-dippy Chuck E. Cheese. There was some kind of ... foam (?) sculpture thing (?) near the front that sent warning signals. It did not bode well, and I was prepared to dislike MM based on the tacky visual display alone. Despite all the cartoonish stoner-style decor, the place is completely scrubbed of any reference to marijuana. Certainly that's appropriate for a family place, but the lack of it despite the chosen theme almost makes it more noticeable. I guess the theme was just too heavy-handed and kind of takes away from the quality of the food, in my opinion. Pizza is a very personal preference and I think it deserves some context when taking someone else's word for it. My favorite pizza in all of Columbus is Harvest. I also really like Natalie's Coal Fired Pizza & Music. At this price point and style, I prefer Pies & Pints to Mellow Mushroom based on ambiance alone, but MM's pies are legit.

Awesome pizza!! My favorite part is the really small sausage crumbles. The crust is really chewy with a nice garlic, Parmesan cheese, butter spread. One must also know about the pizza cut. Pizzas are cut into 6 big pieces unless you tell them to cut them into 8. These honkin' slices can be sometimes hard to handle. I have been criticized for cutting my pizza up because the slices are so large. Whenever we come to Mellow Mushroom we always get the pretzels with pizza sauce. I have also tried the beer cheese with the pretzels and it is just as delicious as the red sauce. You can definitely taste the beer in the cheese sauce. Be warned, Mellow Mushroom can take a while to get your pizza. So if you have little kids, get an appetizer to make them happy. Otherwise, maybe you can call ahead your order so it will be ready not too long after you arrive. Next time, I think I will try either a calzone or a hoagie because those look as good as the pizza.

Amazing pizza! I have not tried one mixture of toppings that I haven't liked. Of course it's not as good as the original Mellow Mushrooms in Atlanta but that's typically how it goes. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants some good pizza!!

I'm a Mellow Mushroom convert! My friends have told me about this place for years but I've never made it a point to go. My date and I decided to come here after I scoped out their menu online. I like that there's an online menu, but I know each location has their own specialities. I wish that I could have seen the local menu online as well. That's not enough for me to downgrade my 5 star rating, though! We got the Drunken Fun Guys appetitzer. It was little baked bits of the pizza dough with this beer cheese dip and tomato sauce. The sauce was just whatever. The cheese dip was AMAZING! We even used the leftover to drizzle on the calzone. For our main dishes we shared a small Thai Dye pizza and a make-your-own calzone with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and onions. The calzone was good--no complaints, very tasty--but the pizza was way better. I loves the combo of flavors. I've never tasted anything like it before! So delicious. What I really like about this place is the dough. Handtossed dough is always the best, but Mellow Mushroom GREAT. It was cripsy on the bottom and fluffy on top, just the way I like it! I'm definitely going back soon! I know I will crave that Thai Dye pizza!

I like the Mega-Veggie pizza with vegan cheese (minus a couple veggies I don't like). The pizza is good, nice and thick. I only wish that a small wasn't $13, $10 would be a little more reasonable. Also the cinnamon pretzels are good (minus the butter and honey to make it vegan). The hummus is okay, not as smooth as I'd like and they give more pita bread than they give hummus. I really like that they have vegan and gluten free options though. Gold star for them! Also the manager is very friendly and accommodating. I always get great customer service here. The long wait sometimes is so worth it. I'll always be back. Bonus: for those of you with kids, on Fridays an older woman (Silly Dee is her name, if I recall correctly) goes around to the kids at tables and makes them balloon animals/characters/figures...she's awesome!

Incredible! It's getting harder and harder for me to pick a favorite pizza joint, but this place tops the list in Columbus by a mile. The room is fun, relaxed, lots of TVs, lots of loud chatter. It made for a very comfortable vibe for me. The staff was prompt, friendly, and extremely capable of explaining the long menu. There is a lot to choose from, and it can be a bit intimidating. I went with the potato pizza. I never would have guessed that potatoes on pizza would work, but work it did, and how! It was like a stuffed baked potato on a pizza, just awesome. I also had their Spinach salad, which was also wonderful with lots of nice, fresh ingredients. I loved every aspect of my visit, can't wait to go back!

Sad to rate this a 2. Atmosphere was so fun and the kid meal options were nice. I arrived with my 3 & 5 year old daughters and ordered food for them right away. I ordered mine shortly after our waiter came back with drinks. Kids food came out quick, however my 10" pizza did not come out until 40 minutes later. By that time my kids were finished eating and I had asked them to box my pizza. I ate it when I got home. Also noticed a lot of other people waited a long time for food. The manager had no interaction with the customers. I noticed he would keep to himself, watch the game, or lean against the counter along side the kitchen. Pizza was good and unique, but may be better to go.

Food was very good, we enjoyed it but the reason I cannot give this any more than one star is due to the incredibly poor service we received. This was hands-down the worst treatment either one of us has ever had while dining out. The appetizers we ordered came out promptly as did our pizza. Both were very good and we enjoyed them. However, our server really lacked in professionalism. He called me inappropriate names in front of my boyfriend and also made lewd comments that left both of us feeling incredibly uncomfortable. He continued to be rude and it got to the point where my boyfriend was getting especially upset over the treatment both he and I were receiving from this gentlemen. We both decided it was better to leave as soon as possible than stay any longer. When we asked for a box to go he called us "kids" and proceeded to treat us as such. Both of us being working adults found his comments deeply offensive. We still tipped him and treated him with kindness but we left upset and frustrated. My boyfriend and I dine out every week and for the most part, have had great experiences. I'm disappointed that we could be treated so poorly. We won't ever eat at Mellow Mushroom again.

I work right across the street from Mellow Mushroom and I am sad it took me four months to try it for lunch. I've never tried the pizza but I just had an amazing hoagie - the mushroom club. Ordered it on a rye roll and OMG. If you're a fan of rye bread, try one of their hoagies on it. The bread was delicious and all the fillings were fresh and awesome. Called for take out and it was ready in 15 minutes, and I just paid at the front and left. Easy peasy. I think I'll be a regular from now on, and will try some pizza and their happy hour ASAP.

Landed here last night for an early, pre-Lowes shopping dinner. When I eat here, I tend to lean towards the specialty pizzas rather than the more traditional pies. I mean, I can get a pepperoni and sausage pizza just about anywhere but how many places have a Thai-style pizza or a caesar salad pizza? We ended up the Maui Wowie, which we both enjoyed heartily and we had enough leftover that we both have lunch today. The stars for us was the tasty crust and the beer list. They do a nice job of mixing local and unique beer offerings to match their unique pizza options. Also, the service is usually quite good... except our poor server had multiple tables sat at the same time (poor hostess-ing, IMO) so she was a bit frazzled in the beginning. I can't say that I'd be here every week but when I'm looking for something other than the usual pizza fare, I'll gladly choose the oddball pies here.

Finally got around to trying this place and although it didn't light my fire hubs loved it. Great service - very nice informative and helpful server. Loved the cranberry cider and the tossed salad was fresh and substantial. But the pizza...ehhhhh. The crust was quite good but the sauce and meats were not spicy enough for me. Maybe it was because we ordered ham, sausage and mushrooms. But still it was just tooooooooo mild! No bite, no zing, no pizazz. I'm willing to give it another try (especially since hubs liked it) and they will make your pizza just about any way you want it. Will try some other toppings but if it's still bland tasting that will be the last chance.

First, this is not a 4 star restaurant. But as pizza restaurants go it's 4 stars - maybe 5. The pizza is great, the crust alone would make a tasty snack. The staff at this location are very friendly and remember what you like after you've been there a couple times (or like me, 20+ times and getting the same thing every time, almost). Good appetizers and salad too. The basamic dressing in particular is very good. Sometimes a bit noisy inside, at least in the evenings. Very kid friendly and clean bathroom. One of my favorite places to eat in the area.

I wanted to write an update, and upgrade my star rating for this place. One year later, we returned to Dublin, and decided to carry out pizza again from Mellow Mushroom. GREAT CHOICE... We opted for a Thai pizza for us, and Cheese and sausage for the younger set, and once again it was the best choice we made the whole trip. If you're a thai lover, you seriously have to try this wacky but waaaaaaaaaay too good pizza. Having this option so close to our hotel, and the luxury of eating at our hotel with small kids and hitting the pool instead of squirming around in a crowded restaurant was so, so smart... if you are a family, please take my advice and go this route - your kids will love you for it. We did super smart thing and opted to return our second night for another pizza. This is our go-to Dublin place (HINT, they have others in the Columbus area if you aren't close to this location). Kudos, 'Shroom!!! Find your way to Chicago, please!

Was in Columbus for the weekend and met a bunch of friends up at Mellow Mushroom. First thing I noticed upon sitting down was the awesome glass-top table that covered a huge array of beer bottle caps. Very unique and fun to look at while waiting for our drinks. Had the Dirty Bong Water cocktail and it was hands-down one of the best cocktails I've ever had. I could have had 5 of them - but limited myself to 2. It tasted like a sweet lemonaide but was tart at the same time, and not to mention bright green. As an appetizer my friend insisted we have the pretzels - garlic and parm big doughy pretzels. They were pretty good. For the meal I had a small Maui Wowie pizza - with pesto, pineapple, yellow peppers, and spicy jerk chicken. Da bomb.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!! First of all 2 big thumbs up to our host Michael (MC) Hammer. My first time there and I felt the love. I love this place even more because of their vegan options! Yummy vegan pizza and their munchies are delish. This is definitely climbing it's way to my top Dublin hangout spot.

Pizza is great, and beer is great too. My big complaint is that the pizza takes forever to come out. I knew this already from previous experiences at the Polaris location, but that didn't stop me from trying to mitigate the wait. I called ahead to see if I could put an order in for the dining room, and was told no can do. Bummer. No biggie if it's just me and the guys. But when it's my 3 and 1 year olds, forgettaboutit. 40 minutes plus. What on earth are you guys doing back there?

Really great pizza. Very respectable beer list. Good emphasis on "real food". I went a different route today and got the Tempeh sandwich on a pita. -- fantastic! Last two visits gave had exceptional service. Great pizza, real food, lots if beer, exceptional beer = a favorite.

K, so my favorite wings in town are at MM. Weird, I know. My second favorite are at Thurman's...and I hate Thurmans burgers, they are gross. Anyway, came here with 10 people last night to watch a guy we know solo on his guitar and also to visit and have some pizza. We started at the bar while waiting for a table. First off the bartender messed up my drink--it was hot out so I wanted a gin and tonic. I asked her if they had BOMBAY DRY GIN not SAPPHIRE. She said they did. If you don't know the difference between these two gins you should NOT be tending a bar. Grr, she gave me sapphire gin instead of dry #1stWorldProblemAlert. I wouldn't have minded this had our table not been ready right when I got the drink and I didn't drink it until we sat down and then was stuck with it...since I had already cashed out at the bar. She also didn't give me a lime. Okay, so just don't get mixed drinks here :) I switched to Guiness and had a good time after that. We started with the following items: Wings: Excellent--super super crispy and served with amazing blue cheese dressing :-P Garlic Cheese Bread: very tasty, but could be more garlicky. Bruschetta: this was alright--tomatoes weren't ripe though. Spinach Dip: nice, this was better than most places. Pizza: Redskin Potato: this was really good--the bacon was the best part. It had redskin potatoes, cheese, chives, sour cream, bacon etc. Caesar: this was also really good--chicken, and cheese and some kind of white or oil sauce, topped with a caesar salad. House Special: this had all kinds of stuff--mostly meat and I thought it was great. That's it. Good stuff here, although I think it's a little pricey.

I really enjoy this place! I love their pizza -- fresh, tasty and delicious! Wait staff have always been friendly & helpful. I've only been here a couple of times, yet they have remembered me and what I ordered before, which was surprising. As for other employees, they are not always as "engaged" as the wait staff. The bakers / cooks back in the food prep area always seem to be enjoying themselves with tossing pizza dough in the air. That's kind of fun to watch. On weekends there is a balloon lady who strolls around molding balloon animals for the kids which is also entertaining. Great place for a family or group outing.

A great place for pizza, draughts, watching sports, taking a baby out to eat without annoying the rest of the place, and a full stomach. I was impressed with the pizza options and the pure taste of the pizza from crust to sauce and cheese. I love the doughy crust taste as it is not dry and doesn't need a dipping sauce. We ordered the "Hey Dude" which was splendid. The price is the only downside to this place as $20 for 6 pieces seems a little high to me. I really enjoyed the pizza but I wouldn't be making it a weekend staple because of the price. I would compare this place to Dewey's and Hounddog as a great place for gourmet pizza. Their beer selection is pretty good as they had numerous options but I was disappointed that they were out of their 4 Strings Brewery Tap. I had to go for the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, which is actually my fave, but I wasn't sure if it is a real pizza beer. The atmosphere is laid back yet a little loud so I didn't worry if the little one needed to cry. She wouldn't bother anyone. the server was trying to be real mellow. I still can't decide if he was authentic or just acting to be a mellow, cool guy. He was good and attentive but I am curious if they are supposed to hav a certain act as they work. Also be ready to wait for the pizza as it takes awhile but it is worth it. If the pizza was $15, I think this place would get 5 stars.

While I like the fresh made pretzels and hummus platters here as great and tasty starters, and I love some of the unique house pies (the franchise signature, with meatballs, caramelized onions, and ricotta? MMMmmmmMMmmmm.), the biggest reason I like mellow mushroom is their gluten free crust. Thin, tasty, and surprisingly nice texture compared to most G-F pizza options, it's a lot closer to "real" pizza than any other G-F friendly options around town. I took a friend of mine with Celiac here for a treat one night, and she enthusiastically called it the best pizza she's had in years. It takes a little longer to make, but it's well worth your time.

Met some others here for dinner. Had a few toppings scraped off someone else's pizza that was okay. I ordered a "build your own" spinach salad with andouille sausage and anchovies. I guess I was expecting the andouille to be hot (temperature), like a Pittsburgh style steak salad, but was disappointed to find it cold. I think I was missing out on some flavor. Overall I felt like a paid a few dollars more than I should have for average food. Live entertainment on the night I was there was a plus.

Do I have to even give a star? Super cheesy place. (well not cheesy in the pizza cuz they skimp there) service was horrible. I think the waiter was completely clueless. Food took forever. Then one meal was wrong. The food was just bland once corrected. Never gonna go back here.

The interior of this place is awesome; when you walk in you will feel like you are tripping on shrooms... The pizza is incredible (especially the crust) and all of the toppings are legit. To be honest all the food is pretty good. I'd say try the Reese's Pieces cookies in the cookie jar on the away out, they're pretty awesome. Great beer selection with the occasional item on nitro. When I was there they had left handed milkstout on nitro (incredible). Plenty of TV's to watch a game. Great place for a casual gathering (or rager, whichever you prefer)

MM pizza is definitely not crap. It's a quality pie, but it just didn't do it for me. It had me questioning what good pizza really is. Does it even exist in Ohio at all? Will I ever find my favorite/the best pizza?? Who knows. What I do know is that MM did not gross me out or make me sick and it was a decent meal; Albiet expensive. 2-10" pizzas and 2 sodas were $38.00. Ugh! We ordered among us 3 pizzas and a calzone and cheesy bread. Skip the cheesy bread. Order the mighty meaty if you dig meat. That was my fav. The potato pizza was not my thing, but my boyfriend really like it. I had the Kosmic Karma which was OK. I didn't like the pesto on it all that much. Ingredients were fresh and crust was pretty good. Nice crispy and chewy mix. I didn't try the calzone, but it looked too bready (if you know what I mean by that) I did not enjoy the decor. It made me feel like I was in a pot head fun house. Service was great! If you have dreadlocks, apply to work here! I saw at least 4 servers with dreads. Overall, I would go back if it was suggested by friends, but I would not likely order pizza from here again even though it was good.

This place is one of my favorite pizza restaurants in central Columbus. Great selection of toppings and variety of pizza, including vegan and gluten-free options. The vegan cheese is Daiya and tastes delicious, and the crust is also incredibly fluffy and flavorful. Only downside is that the pizza always takes forever to come out of the kitchen, usually close to 30 or 40 minutes. There are also always loads of small screaming children running around. The annoyances here are worth it for the pizza!

Nice place. Good atmosphere. Everything on the menu sounds delicious. I tried the spinach & artichoke dip for appetizer. Very good. We got the house special pizza and the white pizza. The house was ok. Lot of toppings. Crust is stone baked and really good. The white pizza was average at best. Kind of bland. Have had better many other places. Looking forward to trying other items from the menu.

I am convinced the people who like this place must be on drugs. I can't say the pizza is bad, because honestly the worst pizza I ever had was still pretty good. But given how many pizza places there are that serve great pizza, I don't understand the love for this place. If I had to give one thing to justify the 1 star rating, it would be the crust. Edible, but without toppings not worth eating at all.

These people know how to make some pies!! We've tried several - Meatball/Ricotta, Hawaiian, BBQ Chicken, and something with rabbit in the title - and always left happy and stuffed! The crust is the best in Ohio - the perfect blend of wheat-y-ness, dough-y-ness, and crisp-y-ness. Plus if you watch the boys in the back, they throw the dough in the air! Only thing missing is yelling "mama mia!" Who's got 2 thumbs and likes MM's pies? THIS GIRL! Pretty decent beer selection in both drafts and bottles - though they were out of a bunch the last time they were there. Happy hour = 1 dollar off drafts. The price is a little more than I'd like to spend on a Tuesday night (over 50 bones for 1 large pizza, 4 beers) but is pretty fair. The servers are also very accommodating when I asked to change the TVs to a different sports game, much appreciated! A note for the trivia - it is a bit haphazard. A man shows up (about 30 to 60 minutes after MM tells you trivia will start) and then passes around a piece of paper with 10 lines for 20 questions. Makes sense? Then he quickly rattles off 20 questions so quickly that it is hard to keep up or enjoy your evening. The point system is arbitrary (this one is worth 12, this one is worth 53). Even with not being a well organized trivia, we continue to meet our friends in Dublin here and have won a gift card - it is still something fun to do over some nice brews and fab pizza.

I was with family, day after T-day. The place was packed, we were a big party yet they accommodated us in 20-30 minutes -- well before any of us got too fidgety. The beer selection is enormous, a lot of good IPAs, I had a couple of them. One of the two birthday girls got custom service - a sampler of 6 beers, a few ounces of each. The waitress brought two birthday shots on the house -- pleasant surprise. Service was excellent. The time elapsed from order to served item was reasonable. The appetizers came in very small portions, though they did taste good. We ordered six small-size pizzas, each different, each vegetarian and each one delicious there is a good selection here with some unique topping combos the food menu is also huge, lots to try aside from pizza. One side of this restaurant has a sports-style bar. Overall, the seating is comfy with ambient noise levels a bit high (though still inviting) I would definitely come back for more, this is another great Ohio restaurant franchise that I can't enjoy in Pittsburgh.

Pizza is top-notch, just expect to pay a lot for what you get. More than the larger corporate or local chains. On a cold night in Dec., we were first put out in the glassed in porch. Very drafty and cold, then hot-steamy, then cold again. We were able to move w/o a problem, but only bec/ the place was not crowded. Staff was friendly and accommodating about the whole thing.

I am torn on this one. On one side the pizza is great as well as beer selection, although one of the young bartenders wasn't trained on beer styles. She told someone that a belgian dark ale was actually an IPA. but that's no big deal really. My only complaint is the managers continue to let all the employees hang out at the bar when they are not working. One time i could not sit at the bar becuase all the employees took it over when they finished their shifts. If i was manager i would have them go elsewhere to let the paying customers actually have a seat. I prefer the Polaris location to this one. Bigger bar and better run place.

I have a pizza addiction and Mellow Mushroom was my gateway. I always liked pizza, but after eating here, I now wake up at night sweating for a bite of pesto swirl! I am a vegetarian and there are so many unique and delicious options for me and all my friends can agree upon. Usually I'm left picking something off to appease my friend's craving for meat or just getting plan cheese. I love the atmosphere here too! I have been to a couple locations and they are all different in décor, but they all have that hippy, casual feeling. Each location has specific pizza creations, but they all have a few staple pizzas, like the Kosmic Karma pizza. It has a marinara sauce as well as a pesto sauce swirled on the top. Most pizza options have multiple fancy cheese combinations as well as specialty toppings like, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and caramelized onions. Beer selection is great too with a lot of craft, international and local beers. Seriously what sounds better than hanging with friends enjoying a pizza and beer?

Great for vegans! You can get daiya cheese on anything, just be sure to ask for no butter/no parm. The staff usually knows what vegan means and can help. Plus there are a few wonderful sandwiches with tofu, tempeh, etc. Sometimes it can be a little slow, but it's worth the wait.

This place is so amazing, I'm sad that I've been missing out since they have been in Columbus. We had a great order of the soft pretzels and then had a pizza with tomato and basil. The pretzels were yummy and the pizza was divine. The sauce is so good and the crust is amazing! Next task, try the beer! Looks like they have a great selection.

Well, the decor is faux-hippie. I was amused but not impressed; corporate hippieness seems silly. The staff is friendly and kinda granola-y. The service was very good; I saw reviews of the Polaris one mentioning iffy service and was concerned about going here, but it was fine. The food: good, not great. I got a small spinach salad and a small meat pizza. The salad was a decent size; I bet the large would be a good light meal on its own. The pizza was also substantial- plenty of toppings, a well-baked, medium-thickness crust. Nothing extraordinary, but a solid pizza The prices are pretty high- $20 for salad and pizza- but then, I walked away full and with half a pizza for later.

I have been here a few times and the experience has been the same each time. Great pizza, yummy sandwiches, lots of beer and drink choices, horrible service. The menu has a wide variety of options and nothing I have had has been anything other than yummy. There are even plenty of good options for vegetarians and vegans. They will use vegan cheese and everything. The problem is the service. Both time they have had to comp someone in my groups meal because it was so screwed up. Also, don't try going on your lunch hour. It took forever even though they were well staffed and it looked pretty slow. Our lunch hour turned into lunch hour and a half.

My husband and I headed into Mellow Mushroom later in the evening on a Friday night. It is a sizable place and was packed, so it is clearly popular. We had a short wait, which gave me time to admire the far-out decor. Mellow Mushroom takes the name seriously, and there were a lot of funky colors, paintings, etc, including mushroom handles on the doors to the bathroom. We also had a good chuckle about the VW van with the restaurant logo in the parking lot. Nice touch. Despite the crowd, our server was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The menu features a number of funky and traditional pizzas, featuring a lot of fun names, like Kosmic Karma and Magical Mystery Tour. Due to the pizzas being a bit pricier, my husband opted to split a gluten-free pizza with me, which comes in a medium (14"). Upon my request for info on the gluten-free pizza, our server provided us with a list of gluten-free ingredients and sauces, so we opted for the tomato sauce with banana peppers and sausage. The gluten free crust came out with a nice crispy exterior and an airy inside. It held up nicely to the toppings and sauce. It does have a different taste to it than to most of the gluten free crusts I have had - the word on the 'net is that it is based on bean flours (versus the more commonly used rice or potato flours/starches). We thought the crust was fine, but not our favorite - but I have to say, I think the unique crust fits in perfectly with the ambiance! Good service, a lot of attention to detail, and solid food.

I feel like I went to a completely different restaurant than all the other reviewers. The husband & I took our livingsocial & headed to Mellow Mushroom on Friday night. When we arrived we found a 30 minute wait ahead of us, no big deal except there's really not a great place to stand that's not in everyone's way. Approximately a half hour later we were seated at a table near the bar. This may offend some, but I'll say it anyway. We don't have or particularly enjoy the company of children. We appreciate when we are seated away from a large table of loud kids and notice when we are seated directly next to them. Such was the case here. There was a rather large group of young girls and their parents at the table next to us. The girls were screaming, throwing balloons, and getting down from their seats and running to the other side of the table. Not my idea of a pleasant dining experience. But by this time we'd waited so long and there didn't appear to be many other empty tables, so we just dealt with it. Our table was also freezing cold - we were seated near the porch area though so that was probably the issue. The husband complained that the music was extremely loud for a restaurant and I agreed, maybe for a bar, but we were practically shouting at each other in order to have a conversation. Service was lackluster. We had to specifically ask for silverware. Our table appeared not to have been wiped down thoroughly. We were missing parm cheese. Once seated and ordered, we waited another 30+ minutes for our pizzas. I realize and appreciate that at a sit down restaurant, the food takes time to cook, but this was excessive. I felt like the menu needed a warning - your pizza will take 30-40 minutes to cook. I had such high hopes for my pizza and was disappointed. I ordered a small with pesto sauce, spinach, broccoli, mozzarella, & grilled chicken. The husband ordered the house pizza. Both our pizzas were dripping with grease and we could see the grease on the trays as well. The crust was burnt on the bottom. The price was way too high for what we received. $30+ for 2 small pizzas & a Coke. I would have paid half that and been okay with it, but that was just way too much.

The food there was really good, even after all the hype I'd heard from a good friend. The fact that they serve alcohol and pizza is pretty "different," but in a good way. They were having a Trivia Night the night we were there and the questions were pretty tough to answer, but it was a good idea to keep you busy while you hang out in a group, like we did that evening. My only problem I had was a big problem. I showed up straight from work, and I wear a suit every day, so I didn't have time to change before I got there. I don't know if I was being judged or not, but I asked for the "strongest drink they had" and got something that was so, so, so bad, I couldn't finish it. Never in my life, regardless of how bad a drink was, have I been unable to finish a drink, even if it was bad. First off, it wasn't strong at all - it was SUPER sweet AND sour. Strange for a "strong drink." Then, my sister told me to just send it back and that they'd get me something else (b/c she had her drink replaced last time they were there), but when I asked the server in a super nice, polite manner, she checked with the manager, who declined my request. I tried all I could to drink it anyway - but it was just too bad (and not worth the calories!). Then, come to find out a couple months later, we were having dinner someplace else with some friends and Mellow Mushroom came up. Would you believe that they sent a drink back and had their request honored also?! They weren't all dressed up... So, Conspiracy? You decide!

Didn't get to try the food but it sounded really good. We waited for 20 minutes for someone to take our order or get us some drinks but no one ever came. We got tired of waiting and left. It's disappointing because I really wanted to try it. Maybe carryout would be better.

I was told by everyone how great this stuff is ... I was not impressed. the service was fine and I'm pleased that they have a gluten free crust option (good for a paleo cheat meal, no?) but the toppings were basically second rate. If I'm going to a legit pizza place I want quality cheese, flavorful pepperoni, and good sauce. Maybe the standard gluten-laden crust is really good, but for my money, I'll go someplace else.

  • Kim S.

Too expensive. As a previous poster commented, their beers are $7 and their Martinis are $8. And as commented, the mixed drinks are not to perfection - and yes, that's what I'd expect at $8. (They consider Martinis a 'double, otherwise it wouldn't fill up the glass." Manager quote. Appetizers are small, get them during happy hour for 1/2 price. Pizza ok with several options, but not so unique. Think I'll be going to Applebees down the road...

This is good pizza. I like the not too thick, not too thin, not too crisp, not too doughy crust. We enjoy the non-traditional pizza toppings, especially ones with veggies like the mega veggie, magical mystery tour, and mellowteranean. I wouldn't come here for your basic pepperoni pie - there are other places to go if that's what you're in the mood for. The sandwiches are good, and come with vegetarian options (both veggie and tofu/seitan). My fave salad is the spinach and bacon, and you can't go wrong with the esperanza dressing. It's also nice to see a chain restaurant with such an excellent draft beer selection. I will agree with some other reviewers that some of the staff (a lot of high schoolers it seems) are kind of clueless at times, and this place gets super crowded during peak dinner hours.

This may come as a shock to many people but I dont love pizza. I mean I like pizza, it's bread and cheese and some other stuff so it can't be all bad. . . buuuuut I only seem to crave pizza occasionally. I am always on the lookout for goooood pizza though. That said, Mellow Mushroom I heart you. The BF and I came here for a late dinner last night and decided on sharing a medium Mellowteranean and 2 small salads (Greek with balsamic vinaigrette and cesar) And although MM has a fantastic selection of beers on tap and by the bottle, it was a night of guzzling rootbeers. First lets talk pizza: The crust is fantastic it was soft and chewy, thin but not crispy which is my favorite. The Mellowteranean pizza was Greek inspired with Olive oil garlic base, chicken, onions roasted peppers and a feta mozzarella mix. (Oh it comes with olives too of course but similarly to the time Jerry said to Newman "You wouldn't eat broccoli if it was deep fried and covered in chocolate sauce." Sub broccoli for olives and you got me). The flavors on the pizza worked really well together - the olive oil and cheese were delectable buttery goodness. We did wait a lil while to eat the pizza though and it got a lil soggy but I didnt mind at all. If this concerns you - eat within 30 minutes. The pizza was served with a greek yogurt dipping sauce, and as much as it pains me to speak negatively about a dipping sauce (sweet baby Ranch cover your ears) . . . I honestly don't think it was needed or complemented the pizza very well. That's just a compliment to how superb the pizza was on it's own though. The greek salad was really good and the dressing was very flavorful but the cesar was (Yawn) pretty standard and nothing special. Our waiter, Drew, was very personable and enthusiastic. BF and I have recently developed a liking (see: obsession) for the card game Monopoly Deal and Drew let us sit there for 2 hours playing cards and filling up our root beer glasses occasionally asking us who was winning (obviously me). Overall this is the BEST pizza I have had in Columbus. The service was fantastic buuuuuuuut seriously, it cost over $40 (with tip) for a medium pizza, 2 root beers and 2 salads. This is the only reason I cannot give MM 5 stars. 4 stars but I will without a doubt be back to sample more pies.

Ordered a pizza which they said would be ready in half an hour. Arrived on-time to be told that it wasn't ready. After awkwardly standing at the front desk for another half hour, they gave us our pizza and we left. Despite having to wait in the ridiculously LOUD, terribly-designed chain restaurant, we were not given a discount or offered the pizza for free. Instead, we were ignored by almost everyone in the restaurant. The pizza was mediocre and certainly not worth the price. I will never be purchasing from this restaurant again.

The pizza here is awesome. Their house specialty pizza is amazing - it has nearly every topping on it known to man. Two slices of it filled me up really nice. The medium size (14" I believe) was big enough for me and two other guys to share. I've also had a "regular" pizza with cheese and pepperoni - also delicious. What's really awesome about this place is the beer selection. Oh my. There's a huge line of taps behind the bar plus a long list of bottle options on each table. You'll find everything you could want from Bud Light to Bell's Two Hearted to Rouge Dead Guy Ale. When I visited a few weeks ago they had Avery Brewing Company's imperial IPA "Maharaja" on tap - probably one of my top 5 favorite beers. SO good. I'll definitely be coming back for the beer ... and the pizza too.

What a pleasant surprise! Going to a new restaurant is an exercise in expectations; and I have to admit I didn't expect much when we dropped in on the Mellow Mushroom. Just another pizza place, right? Wrong! Start with the image: the first MM was founded in 1974 and the atmosphere and themes are vintage psychedelia. Think HR Pufnstuff meets the Godfather. Then take a look at the beer list. Beer is assuming its rightful place as wine's peer in complexity, history, and culture. This joint has a great selection, with dozens of beers (and cider) in bottle and on tap -- so many that our server wasn't quite up to speed on the list, resulting in a slight delay in our drink orders. This was really the only minor glitch, and out on the patio on a sunny day, the breeze and beer kept us cool while we talked and waited for the pies. The pies are what it's all about. The menu is almost too large: 9 cheeses, 23 proteins, 22 veggies, and 4 sauces, including vegan and organic ingredients. We went with the chef's selection, the house special of red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, bacon, shrooms, black olives, sliced tomato, green peppers, and onions. (That's right, Ohioans, I said "mozzarella", the stringy cheese pizzas rightly should be made with.) When it came, it was literally mouth-watering, a smorgasbord on a crust. And that crust! Wow! The first bite took me back decades. This is how pizza crust is supposed to taste. Years of national chain pizza has blinded my taste buds to how critical the crust is to the pizza. Chewy! Bubbly! Sweet! Wheaty and glorious! If I had to rate this joint just on the crust, they'd get 5 stars easy. They say the dough is made with spring water, and if my palate is any judge they use both unbleached and high-gluten flour in the dough. (They do have gluten-free choices too). It's perfect. You may need a knife and fork, which is AWESOME. Mellow Mushroom is actually a regional chain with about 100 locations, but honestly you can't tell. Yes, that's a compliment. They've got appetizers, sandwiches, calzones, and salads too. But go for the pizza. It's good pie, well worth it.

We went here for gluten free pizza. It took 30 min. to get wings and gluten free pizza. The pizza is over priced and so-so. The wait staff is snotty and inattentive. Not worth the price, $26 for a 12" pizza? Who thinks that's a good price? Really??

My FAVORITE pizza and oh so many beer choices... the perfect place to hang out with a good crowd. I got a Hawaiian Pizza that was Delish! The hubby got some weird ranch chicken that he thoroughly enjoyed. Another friend got a Cesar salad pizza that just looked gross. She was not too thrilled with it. They also do fun things with mixing drinks, like beer and peach juice. Yummy! They have a variety of sauce choices including the traditional red sauce, pesto, olive oil and garlic, and bbq. They also have gluten free pizzas. They have a large variety of topping with protein choices that include turkey, tofu, and tempeh. I've been there about 3 times now and service has always been 5 stars. For me it is a bit on the pricey side, but a worthy splurge once in a while!

Finding a good gourmet pizza joint in Columbus is such a tall order. I'm not picky, but the only pizza I would eat in Columbus was Little Caesars. However, a trip to this place changed my mind! They have an incredible amount of toppings to choose from, in addition to their signiture dishes. I personally recommend the "Hey Dude." It's a ranch-based sauce that has grilled chicken strips, bacon, jalapenos, and a nice drizzle of buffalo sauce. They also have an incredible full-bar, with a lot of local beers to choose from. Definately a nice, casual atmosphere. The one thing that may scare off some people are the prices. They aren't bad, but the pizza is more pricey than your run-of-the-mill local dive or large chain. If you're coming on a budget, you may want to be wary. However, the taste does justify the price for me! Easily the best pizza I've had in Columbus. A little pricey, but the flavors make it worth it. They have several locations, and they do offer gluten-free pizza. I go to the Dublin location, and I've never been let down.

Service was slow, and very lax. The pizza at this location tastes different than the location at Polaris. I don't think it's as good. It's your typical Mellow Mushroom.

Especially in Columbus, it is hard for a place to really stand out in the pizza market. That said, Mellow Mushroom does a pretty good job! I had pretty average expectations knowing that MM is a chain of sorts. Plus we all have our inbred pizza biases that are difficult to overcome. But my mood cheered up upon entering the MM! Very light, very open, casual, but private "high backed" booths. The signature of the restaurant is definitely the super cool, groovy artwork decorating the walls and ceiling. Fitting in with the MM vibe, the artwork was a psychedelic mix of walking mushrooms interacting with funny caricatures of MM folks. Trippy homages to Caddyshack, Baywatch and lots of other pop culture references infuse the funny, colorful and whimsical artwork. Definitely mellow and mushroom induced! Uhhh. but I digress. The PIZZA! Very good, had good flavor, better than average thick homemade crust, OK sauce, lots of cheese and wood fired, I believe. A good score! Now the downside...$$$. A large 1 topping and small specialty pizza w/ a couple of beers and sodas was $50, which is significantly more than the local favorite closer to home or delivered to the door. Overall, a good experience. I would like to go back with a group, perhaps, but kinda pricey for the regular family pizza night!

Mellow Mushroom is my favourite pizza chain. I've been known to drive an hour to Columbus just to go get a great draft beer and a Mighty Meaty pizza. The Shroom has a great atmosphere, good service, excellent beer selection, and great pizza. Their pretzels make for an awesome snack if you're just stopping in for a beer or two.
