It was a frigid night walking into have dinner here for the first time. The place was hoppin'. We sat in the bar and the food and service was outstanding. Prices are fair for the quality and amount of food you receive. Atmosphere is a "cool" one in the bar area with Windows rising to the ceiling and lime green painted walls and brick. Blue neon lights under bar stool seating gives it a festive feel. Watching the servers make fresh Table Side Guacamole is so fun. Our new favorite Mexi hangout!

A pleasant surprise that we just happened across because another restaurant in Delaware was closed on Sunday. The major disappointment for me, as for another reviewer below, was that they do not serve alcohol on Sundays besides beer. I really missed having a margarita with my meal. Other than that, the food was very respectable. I had tasty fish tacos, which came with rice and refried beans (not a fan of the latter, but I'm not in general). It took a little time to be seated, but once we were, the service was reasonably timely. I could have done without being referred to as "amigos" by the hostess and waiter, but no biggie.

We ate here on a recent trip to Ohio. It was suggested by a group staying at the same hotel we were at. The food was pretty tasty! I had chicken tacos a la carte. I wish they'd had al pastor (my fav!) But it wasn't a la carte and I wasn't too hungry. My husband enjoyed his meal as well. The drinks here are strong! And I don't think it's just because I couldn't drink for nine months! LOL try the fuzzy alligator! It's really good! This new mommy chose her first postpartum mixed drink wisely! Service was good too! If we're ever in the area again, we'll come back!

We were frequent visitors to this location and spent a lot of money for Margarita Monday. Anymore, we go in and they sit us in a corner and never check on us! I spend to much money in this location to not be valued or be taken care of. Food is 4 stars 8 out of 10 times .

I'll get to the point, I found the food (I had combo #21) to be on par with what I expect from Mexican restaurants. The chips, salsa and spicy ranch were particularly good. Found the atmosphere and service to be nice as well especially since we went on a Wednesday.

Everything was fresh, and delicious! Combination #8 was a great meal: traditional rice and beans, a chicken tamale, and beef enchilada. The service was friendly and fast! This place is kept very clean, and even though the Super Bowl was on staff was buzzing about refreshing the dining room. They have some great beers, and it was a big plus in my opinion that they have Tecate. I recommend Mi Cerrito with great enthusiasm, and I can't wait to return!

Absolutely phenomenal! I refuse to go to those big chain Mexican restaurants because of Mi Cerrito. Every time my family and I go here it is always perfect and reasonably priced. The food is great, the service is great and the fried ice cream for dessert is great too! Each time I go here I try to get something different but for some reason I am always drawn toward the Pollo Hawaiiano because it is just so tasty. There is only one downfall to this place and that is parking. If the city is busy it can sometimes be difficult to find a parking spot but other than that I always recommend it to anyone asking for authentic Mexican food.

Well, if you like dead flies with your typical Mexican restaurant meal, then this place is for you.

DOES NOT SERVE BOOZE ON A SUNDAY, REPEAT, DOES NOT SERVE BOOZE ON A SUNDAY. That aside, the food is great. Margaritas (not on Sundays) are superb and come in small or "size of your head" varieties. This is based on you having a sizeable head, and a penchant for diabetes and being drunk. The prawn chipotle dish, is a lot hotter than you'd think but maintains an excellent taste - it's my new go-to dish. I have eaten with a vegetarian here a lot - they say the veggie stuff is amazing. Personally (being a "normal") I find the chicken great, the chorizo greasy but flavourful and the beef just right. Chips, salsa and weird spicy ranch stuff are all top notch. Service is quick, if a little odd at times - homely "cafe" sort of feel. It won't impress a guest at sight but the food might. As long as they've not frequented Mexico or San Diego. Generally Good. For Delaware, amazing. I've added another star. I've been back every week since.....the food is good.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in town. We come here every weekend. The employees are always hard working and happy to see us. I can not recommended this place enough! I recommend the tacos de Carne asada. Do not eat at El Vacaros.

This is one of downtown Delaware's better restaurants and I have never been disappointed each time I have visited and I have eaten there a lot. They have a Hawaiian fajita dinner that is very good. It is your standard fajita fare but topped with grilled pineapple rings and melted cheese. It is served with flour tortillas but way too good to all by itself. Pay attention to the chips and salsa they bring out. The Chios are warm and fried and so yummy with this mayo based dip that has zing to it. Owners are great and service is fast and friendly.

We love this place! Have been here a number of times, and the food here is the real deal for Mexican/Latin American food. The owner is friendly and the service has always been good. Today we had chicken Tampico, camarones (shrimp) quesadilla, and chicken chipotle tacos- all were delicious. It's right across the street from the movie theater.

Very good food! I had the Polo Loco and it was fabulous! The chicken, grilled onions and mushrooms were fantastic! The folks are very attentive, drinks stayed full, they are so friendly too! The chips and salsa came with a side of con queso which you just have to sample :) I will be back!!

Best Mexican food in Delaware! This place is always fun and friendly, and the food is excellent! The Burrito Supremo with beef is my go-to. If you like cheese sauce (and let's be honest, who doesn't?) you won't be disappointed.

The best Mexican restaurant in area. The prices are great. The food is fresh and great. The place is always busy but the wait service keeps things flowing. If you like fresh great Mexican food this is the place.

LOVE this place for local Mexican! Beats all the other Mexican places around... That's for sure. I have two go-to things that I can't live without when I eat here, in fact, I crave them: Fresh Guacamole cart and the fish tacos. Seriously, the best! The guacamole cart pulls up to your table and you can pick your ingredients and how hot or mild you want it. We always go hot and it's not too spicy to enjoy. They use a stone mortar and pestle to mix it up which you eat out of on your table. Fabulous!!! The fish tacos a spectacular. Choice of flour or corn tortilla, both are excellent. The best part of that dish is the tomatillo sauce on the side. Not to be missed. Spicy and delicious. It truly makes the meal. I've also had the taquitos there, which are good but nothing beats the fish tacos here. The service has always been good, some wait staff are more friendly than others but not rude like a place down 23 near the Hallmark and Walmart in Lewis center. This is our place!!!

Never had a bad meal or bad service. I would direct you to a certain dish but I have liked everything I have ordered at this point so no strong fav yet... Much better flavor then the Vaqueros that was the only spot in Delaware for a long time...

A real gem in downtown Delaware! Delicious Mexican food like I used to get in Tucson & Mexico. Wonderful ceviche, fajitas, chile relleno, and more. ¡La comida es muy rica!

We just moved to Delaware a few months ago, and we walked in expecting this to be your standard Mexican restaurant and were blown away. The service is phenomenal, the food is great, and when they have the table-side guacamole going it's unreal. It's definitely a step above your traditional quick Mexican meal. The only reason I don't give five stars is because the margaritas leave something to be desired, but my whole family loves the food, service, and atmosphere. Well done!

The food is always fabulous! Sometimes the service can be lacking when the manager isn't there or there are large parties. Its not the typical though. Portions are large and the employees are generally very friendly. Prices are also very reasonable.

Guacamole made table side and the best margaritas in town. If you like ceviche, this place has it...soooooo gooooood!!!

From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. There is a great vibe here and the food does not disappoint. Their table side guac is fantastic but I wished they would jazz up the plastic utility cart a bit with some fabric or something. It would look a lot better- do it up if you are going to offer this cool service that you don't get many places... It is delicious and a lot of fun to have them stand there and make it in front of you. The drinks are delicious (mojito, margaritas) and we have never had a bad meal there. The staff is fast and friendly, too.

Food was okay but service sucks. Third or fourth time we've been here and the service always sucks. Waiter was unfamiliar with the menu. Very disorganized and slow.

Fresh, delicious, authentic Mexican food in downtown Delaware. Great staff was patient and walked us through the margarita choices. So many to choose from, each one delicious and fresh. I settled on the Perfecto marg and was not disappointed. Be warned some are EXTRA large. Chips and salsa were great, salsa not too hot but full of flavor and the chips were crisp and hearty. We ordered table side guacamole; have it your way, they add as much or as little of what you like in yours. I couldn't decide what to order so of course I ordered something not on the menu; carnitas tacos. The waitress was happy to place the order without any problem. They do have a large carnitas burrito that looked delicious as well. The pork melted in your mouth, cooked with the perfect adobo and seasonings. All the portions were very generous, each of us had leftovers to go. A great little find, I'd be happy to return.

Love this place! Best Mexican restaurant in Delaware. Definitely beats it's competitors by far. Margarita specials are awesome and they taste wonderful. Vegetable quesadilla is inexpensive and bursting with flavor! Chips and dip are all you can eat. Great family place, I love taking my kids here for birthdays and celebrations.

Yum yum! I love Mexican food. Mi Cerrito gets it right every time. They did a great remodel to their facility and it's incredibly warm and welcoming. I went there on a Tuesday night around 6 o'clock and the place was hopping! It's so good to see a local Delaware business busy on a week night. One of the tables beside us ordered the made-at-your-table guacamole and the smell of fresh cilantro filled the air. MMmm!! The salsa was fresh and delicious. Chips were crisp. We had $1.99 margaritas as per the special of the day. I had a tilapia dish served with vegetables, rice and a guacamole salad and it was amazing. I was stuffed after just a few bites (I'm sure the chips had something to do with it) and so I had a great lunch the next day, too! You can't go wrong here. Lunch or dinner, it's a safe and tasty bet.

YUMMM!!! Mexican ranch dip for the chips, had it for the first time a year ago in Florida and thought I'd never get it again.... it was sooooo yummy!! Had chicken chimi's (I think), it was pretty good. Want to get back there soon!!

Mi Cerrito was a really cute family run mexican place in downtown Delaware. Things I really liked about Mi Cerrito: 1) Really friendly staff who put the customers firsts and really work hard. 2) Family friendly. 3) The BEST chile rellenos I have ever had. 4) Really excellent salsa and nice thin crispy chips. 5) The boyfriend really liked the chimis! Things that were lacking: 1) Almost impossible to get a drink from the bar because they didn't have a bar tender, servers were tending drinks. 2) The poor host was having to do too many jobs. 3) The worst tamale I've had. Very dry and flavorless. 4) Worst margarita I've had. It was very watery and had not tequila taste. Overall, I would go again. This place has heart. The employees really care. They gave us a gift card to ensure our return with a sincere apology for the long wait and we ended up being seated at the bar. We weren't upset and found our server to be great. So, it was an over the top guesture, we appreciated. They have redeeming menu items. Just skip the margaritas!

Best Fajitas my wife and i have ever had. They need to get new furniture and clean the place up but the food is very good.

And we now have a new #1 in Delaware. Authentic Mexican food. There is no truer test for goodness than ordering carnitas or carne asada and this place passes with flying colors. Table-side guacamole is good, but needs more avocado (could have asked for it I suppose, but it did not occur to me at the time). Refried beans are sublime. Smoky and wonderful consistency. Wonderful staff all around. Meal for 2, no app, with 2 adult beverages was under $40 for dinner.

Like others - I had high hopes for this place. Read that it was authentic.... apparently the people who think so haven't actually been to Mexico before (not authentic). Service is slow - especially for a mexican place (slowest mexican in town). It seems to be a favorite of the very loud crowds.... as in yelling at each other - makes for a very loud night. It's not bad... but basically what you expect in a mid-sized midwestern town (nothing to write home about - that's for sure).

Delaware now has four Mexican restaurants and the good news is that the additions have taken the overall quality of the food to new levels. MI Cerrito debuted on Father's Day weekend and offers "made at your table" guacamole which is pretty good. Though after paying for the show ($7.95) once we just ordered up the side order ($3.95) and enjoyed the great flavor. The salsa tastes fresh and the temperature varies but is usually on the spicy side. Only complaint I've had is that on occssion the tortilla chips can taste burnt or stale depending on who you ask. They offer a lunch special of buy one get one half-off with the purchase of two drinks and we've enjoyed the combos. I have to admit the taco meat is by far the best I've had anywhere -- and they use it in their all their beef products. Very much worth the visit!

They make fresh guacamole at your table- and very good tacos and I love their spinach/cheese quesadilla!

I must have walked by this place 100 times and not noticed its presence. Small sign I guess. However, it's a convenient location if you live near or are driving to the Delaware down town. The place itself looks very nice. There's a good sized bar when you walk in and a quieter eating area through an arch. Decor is muted and tastefully minimal - not so much of the garish colors or flashy lights that are typical to the "authentic" Mexican places you find everywhere these days. Service is fine too - not many smiles, but very polite and helpful. The food, meanwhile, is... okay. I ordered a combination of chicken burrito and tamale, along with some refried beans, which certainly filled me up even if my taste buds weren't dancing with glee. The flavors were a bit muted and bland, often blurring together, and the meat was a bit dry. Overall, it was good but not fantastic. Reading other reviews, it might be worth going again to try some of the other dishes, though. Prices are standard, and the typical a-la cart ordering option is available for small appetites and\or tight budgets. You do get a lot of food for your money, what with the chips-and-salsa, so it's not a bad choice for someone with a big appetite and an empty stomach.

Pretty good Mexican food, nothing to write home about. I didn't really care for their Margaritas though. I'd go back for another meal, but would probably get something else to drink.

Fresh guacamole made table side? Yes please! A delicious touch to a tasty meal. Chips, salsa, refried beans and a delicious burrito. Even the kids were happy w/a simple quesadilla option. Will definitely go again!

this is a good place for non- chain mexican. i don't know what the deal is with the guy who compaired it to taco bell. good wide menu and excellent service today. well worth checking out. I will be back!

I really had high hopes for this place after reading reviews, but sorry. Jumbo margarita didn't have any tequila in it. 18 year old server said sorry, it's the first one he ever made. Service was terrible. They forgot our guacamole, which I told them to just forget about it after our dinner was brought out. Food took f...o....r.....e....v.....e.....r to come out. Food was really good, but if your looking for good service and a good drink, go somewhere else.

Awesome guacamole (made fresh at your table), great food, reasonable prices and a wait staff that blows El Vaquero out of the water. Our entire table decided after one meal that this would now be the go-to Mexican restaurant in D-ware.

Great authentic Mexican food. The shrimp quesadilla is amazing and the refried beans are the best. Above all else, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Oh and don't forget to try the guacamole made fresh at your table!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
