I used to eat canes twice a week. I always buy a Caniac with extra toast instead of fries. Sometimes I get a third toast because they're so appetizing. And once I'm done rewarding my body with the delicious toast I move on to the chicken. The chicken's crispy outside so masterfully complements the tender chicken on the inside. So simple. So satisfying. I like this meal so much because it is just the essentials! Now there have been times when the chicken lacked flavor but it was usually at 2 in the morning and there was a huge line and I was so drunk that I ate the Kole slaw with my bare hands. Hope you have a wonderful canes experience :)

I love Canes and this location was really nice. Food came out fresh and hot and the staff is really friendly. They replaced the sweet tea twice while I was there which is nice that they keep rotating freshly made stuff out there. I always get the box combo and sub out the coleslaw for extra sauce. Cause the sauce is everything haha.

Delicious treat! Will definitely be back :) Fried chicken with homemade ranch, gooey Mac and cheese, and refreshing coleslaw was a match made in heaven! The free sweet tea balances the spicy chicken really well. And I recommend getting the waffle instead of bread cause they have warm maple syrup. When eating a meal like this, go big or go home. ;) This was a review for Hot Chicken Takeover.... Whoops.

the. best. fried. chicken. in. columbus. Yes it's a chain, I know. But i have enjoyed canes many times, and this is why. IT'S CONSISTENT. I've never had a bad meal at Canes, drunk or sober, and that's saying something for this perfectionist/picky eater. The sauce is unique. The bread is always fluffy, gorgeous and fresh with golden buttery toastednessssss. The chicken is always juicy, crisp, tender, piping hot and not too salty like KFC. and I'm not a big fan of fries, but theirs are exceptional.

The best fast food there has ever been this is the best fried chicken I have ever tasted and the locations are always clean the standard drink here is sweet tea and it is very authentically served

Gotta love Cane's! Some of the best chicken strips you'll ever have! Order extra Cane's sauce, cause you'll wanna dip your fries and your Texas toast in it, not just your chicken! I like Canes better than I like Zaxby's (the two are very similar). I didn't realize this is a Louisiana tradition until I went down to Louisiana and they were on every other corner. They also have them near college campus. Excellent choice for some fast food tenders! The best choice in Columbus for sure.

A little slow. I always have to wait but this is actually better. I always get hot fresh chicken

While this place is good, it's very overhyped if I'm being honest. The chicken is good, the sauce is good, the Texas toast is amazing, the crinkle fries are good, but that's just it. It's good. It's not as amazing as everyone says it is. I always get the 3 finger combo and it's more than filling. On a college campus, it's probably God's gift to earth because drunk college students come here all the time, especially since Cane's has late hours.

Finger licking goooood fatty food. I love this place especially when I have a craving some fatty food! Crispy hot juicy wings + soft but crunchy buttery toast + fatty sauce + coke = satisfied

Canes is the perfect place if you're looking for some greasy food after a night out or a big meal quick. The chicken is always piping hot, well-breaded and super juicy when it comes out. The fries are perfectly crispy, the toast is awesome, and the sauce is out of this world! As far as fast food is concerned, canes is definitely at the top of the list in terms of quality. Customer service is also usually great, and they get the food out quickly even with a lot of orders coming in at once.

I've been a fan of Cane's since college and cannot lie.. it is as good as every Buckeye hypes it up to be. The sauce is the staple of the meals here, as well as their delicious and crispy chicken fingers and that butter/garlic toast! Many people will tell you that it's great for drunk-eating, but I had this for lunch yesterday at noon, completely sober mind you, and it was just as delicious. Canes, you're my long-distance lover.

Perfect chicken absolutely loved it. Make sure you replace the coleslaw with an extra piece of toast and get double special sauce

  • Garrett G.

The fries are mediocre, the texas toast is great, the chicken is good, but the single reason that I keep coming back is the sauce. The sauce, the sauce, the sauce. It's tangy, it's spicy, it's perfect. I would rank it among my top sauces of all time with Chick-fil-a sauce. You will dip EVERYTHING in the sauce, so remember to switch out your cole slaw for an extra cup of sauce. If you want the full experience, do not go late at night. The line will be out the door and they tend to rush to get the orders out, making everything less crispy. Go for lunch when they first open.

I've eaten here dozens of times and I have to say it's the best chicken I've had in years. Always fresh and hot with a great sauce. Highly recommend!

It is jsut chicken finger and fries, but what puts them over the top is a couple things: the price (especially the specials), thier cane sauce (mayo it hink with spice, BUT VERY GOOD) and the Texas Bread. Finger lickin good I will agree, they keep it simple and get it done well. I enjoyed there iced tea, as well and their cash register went out of his way to be friednyl to everyone. Deifnitely a great tasty chepa restaurant that I would go to again for lunch. I imagine it gets a lot more packed when all the students are back for school. They seem ot have great catering deals for tailgating also. I didn't get the Texas Bread and I immediately regretting it by looking at it.

  • Ben K.

Canes is a Columbus area staple. They serve their fingers with scrumptious Texas toast and a secret sauce that is stellar. Ditch the slaw for extra toast and order the toast "BBS" style. (They will butter a d toast both sides.) An extra canes sauce is good advice as well. For those die hard fans, yes, they will give you a 32oz cup of Canes sauce if you ask nicely and have a 5 spot to spare. :)

Pretty young girl behind the counter so I go with the clever approach and go with the one about how big the chickens are to have fingers this big. Nothing. Like a lead balloon. I have thick skin (you have to if your career chews you up and poots you out like mine did - don't ask - I used to be important ha ha) so I just cleared my throat and ordered a mess of food and extra texas toast because I can. The wait is crazy long but you can see college kids and they wear amazing tight pants but don't get me started! Cell phones turn me off. The food is greasy and I like the fries so I don't know why people complain about them. So maybe they are over salted. I just rub the salt off on my slacks and the fries are perfect. The chicken is tender and the breading is great. It is cheap too so if you're facing your future with a lump in your throat, gob down some chicken fingers and fries and for a few minutes you won't be the person you can't look at in the mirror and no I'm not fat! They have great Iced Tea here too. Don't forget that.

Raising Canes surpasses Chick-fil-A as my new favorite fast food chicken spot. The chicken is always very moist and deliciously greasy, but what does it for me is the piece of Texas toast and Cane sauce. Love that Cane sauce.

Some dern good fried chicken. Just avoid it like the plague in weekend nights -- you'll have drunk bros and bras screaming/fighting/puking

  • Fang F.

I love the chicken finger combo. There are a couple of reasons why I recommend the restaurant. The price is good, the fries are very crispy, the sauce is awesome, and the toast is my favorite! I think Cane is a good fast food restaurant. However, it's not healthy for us, especially the people who want to lose weight, to eat greasy food too often.

Yum. I've heard amazing things and totally believe in the hype. We had a student event at school that was catered with Raising Canes, and even though the breading was kinda soggy by the time it was served, I remember that these still tasted good. And when you get them fresh in the late evening, my gosh. Only complaints may be that I wish they sold chicken fingers by myself since I just don't want toast/fries most of the time, and that the breading could be even a bit crunchier, but these are definitely not deal breakers. The food is solid, prices are reasonable, and I see his being a regular thing in my diet, which may or may no be a good thing.

The first time I came here was visiting my boyfriend at the time. We had a few drinks and really wanted chicken fingers and french fries. Lo and behold Cane's was open at 2am on a Saturday. Best chicken finger's and fries I've had at any joint; just saying.

Visiting town to speak at a sorority house during move-in weekend and had to sneak in some Cane's, as we don't have it back home. I was super-impressed with the speed with which the staff handled the constant stream of people. The lines moved fast, the food was correct and delicious and my texas toast was still crispy - what more can I ask for?

I don't review chains often nor do I review "fast food" type places, but this place deserves the review. Canes has the best fast food chicken I've ever had. It's cooked well, not too greasy. The batter is delicate, crispy and flaky but despite how good the chicken is, the canes sauce is the star of the show. I have no idea how they make it, but it is incredibly addicting. I would call the fries average, but the texas toast and cole slaw are pretty decent pairings for the meal. I could eat canes chicken with canes sauce anytime, any day.

  • Ashley D.

I love canes sauce but hate the way this large amount of grease makes me feel. Eat just a little and you will be in a much better place.

This is another of my staples in my Cbus days. This place is so addicting, it's impossible to get enough of it. Whenever I'm in town, I make a stop at Cane's. Luckily for me, there is a Guthrie's in Cleveland. Guthrie's is the exact same thing as Cane's down to the sauce and all. But none the less, I do love Cane's.

  • Stephanie P.

Okay, now there should be a lot of strikes against a place like this. #1. It only has one variety of chicken (ie: fingers). #B. It's fast food... and that can go very wrong very quickly. I stopped in here today for a quick bite before a gig at the Wex. Not only were they super nice but the chicken was perfectly cooked. I would have preferred that the breading stayed on the chicken while I was eating it... but, as the chicken was perfectly cooked I couldn't really complain very loudly. And the fries were fabulous. Crispy and hot and just generally great. Now, my biggest question, what do they put in that sauce? I think they must lace it with something super addictive because I ate it on everything. Definitely will be back when I don't stop for a slice next door. Oh, also, random Saturday afternoon visits during Com fest equals an empty restaurant. Just sayin'.

Obviously not the healthiest option but its great, filling food! The most popular meal option is chicken tenders with canes sauce, French fries, toast, cole slaw and a drink. Depending on the amount of chicken someone gets, the price varies but my bill usually runs around $7 which is pretty good for all that food. Get the sweet tea, it's never a bad choice! Also, they deliver - but keep in mind that your food may and probably will be on the colder side. If you eat in, the food is ready pretty fast - the employees must be trained to be quite speedy after all those weekends catering to the lengthy line of college drunkards

I am not satisfied. The chicken fingers were very small, nothing like how it was advertised. I feel ripped off more.

The campus cane's is always a good time. Funny-friendly staff. When ordering you don't feel like you're just going through a "process." You actually feel like you're having a conversation with a friend. Nice change of pace for a quick-stop restaurant. Great service and speeding process despite large crowds. Food is always living up to the cane's standard. I'm never worried about waiting in line here, because it moves quick. No wifi? If they changed this, I'd probably come here at least twice as much.

Favorite Chicken Strips in Columbus. They're always freshly fried to perfection (always juicy) though I wish there were a little more breading and if they were crispier, but I'm being picky. The Texas Toast is buttery and delicious, the slaw is mediocre nothing special. The star of the franchise is the cane's sauce which is seems to be some mix of mayo, ketchup, black pepper, and other things I can't quite pick out. The service is good at this location even when is packed late night. College staple for sure.

  • Evalyn C.

I will start by saying this location is ALWAYS packed (Super packed, in fact.) during the school year so seating is tricky and the line gets long. It also gets pretty dirty and sticky because so many people are coming in and so few workers have time to clean up the dining area. I don't fault them for that, it's just something to keep in mind. You know, I just don't think I get it. I mean, I like chicken tenders as much as the next lady, but I don't find these to be the best, greatest, or most perfect chicken fingers on earth. They're pretty tasty and all, but not really anything I find super special. I like mine with a little more pop of flavor and a less soggy breading than I seem to get at Cane's. The dipping sauce is great, but to make it the only option? Really? While I genuinely like all of the side offerings, I also don't care to only have those options or to be told I can get more dipping sauce in place of one. Again, sauce is good, but not that good and who needs that much sauce?

Like every other student to go through Ohio State, I've been to this Cane's location on multiple occasions. I'm not much of a fast food person, but when it comes to fast food, Cane's does it right. The food is greasy than something I'd normally eat, but it's hard to argue that it does taste very good. The Texas Toast is my favorite part of the meal, but the chicken itself does not disappoint. Even the fries are good. They really only make one thing here, chicken fingers (plus the couple sides), but there's nothing wrong with that when you do it well. One small minus can be that given the location near off campus student housing you might have to tolerate an annoying drunk person if you stop in at night.

Recently, after catching up with a former colleague, I was reflecting on my year living in Columbus, OH (home of that one school that insists on putting "The" in front of its name). Reflection turned into a nap, which led to a dream --- and I woke up craving Cane's chicken fingers. Mind you, I haven't eaten here in over two and a half years. There SHOULDN'T be anything great about this place -- I mean, it's a chain and they serve breaded chicken fingers -- but damn son, they do chicken well. The sauce, the perfectly breaded and cooked cuts of fowl, the overwhelmingly delicious Texas toast...and whoah, the sauce (worth five mentions). I'm pretty sure they put heroin in there (KIDDING!) -- but there is something addictive about the sauce. I probably ate here once every week from Fall 2008 to Spring 2009 ...I'm a little sad to admit that I kinda miss this place. Not the best in the world, but if you are driving through Columbus and don't know of the really good places to go (and you like chicken), this is worth a stop.

  • Ben B.

Cane's sauce. That is the only thing that matters about Raising Cane's. Dip everything in it. Standard order: #1 with extra texas toast instead of cole slaw. If you're feeling bold, get the Cainiac.

    (4)
  • Ryne D.

First things first: I really wished I read all the reviews here before ordering. As many people are saying, screw the cole slaw, get extra saaaauuuuce. So some friends and I are visiting OSU, when I ask the kids working in the union where I can get some uniquely OSU food. Now, if we were at Illinois, I could suggest a dozen places a visitor could go to. But the best these kids could come up with was a chain found across the nation? Well, they don't have one in Chicago, so it kind of counted... Ah hell, it was pretty damn good, so we can't complain too much. Like I said, sauce all day, and what were unequivocally the best chicken fingers I've ever had. Light, crispy, juicy, and tender...everything you could ever want in a chicken finger. Sure, not the healthiest thing, but screw it...we drove 7 hours to OSU eating chips and Oreos. Cane's was a great step up.

I love chicken fingers. For most people its just an appetizer but I make them into a meal. I was recently in Columbus searching for somewhere to eat lunch then I saw a restaurant that was dedicated to chicken fingers. As Liz Lemon would say "I want to go there". Canes did not disappoint, they were some of the best chicken fingers I have had. The cuts of chicken were very tasty as was the breading. I also enjoyed the Texas Toast that came with the meal. The fries were ok, kind of like White Castle crinkle cut fries. Overall I really enjoyed Canes and wished Cincy had one.

Raising canes is a chicken fingers restaurant. That's right. All they sell is chicken fingers. Four items on the menu: Combo #1: 3 chicken fingers, bread, fries and special sauce. Combo #2: 4 chicken fingers, bread, fries, coleslaw and special sauce. Combo #3: 5 chicken fingers, bread, fries, coleslaw and TWO special sauces. Combo #4: 3 chicken fingers in a sandwich, bread, fries, and special sauce. Want something else? Go somewhere else. I discovered the little chain in 2003 when I was an exchange student at LSU in Baton Rouge. For those four months, I had over 50 snack boxes, about one ever second day. Most of them at the original Canes restaurant. I ended up gaining 35 pounds, but it was totally worth it. 6 years later, I was heading to Columbus for the Marathon when I found out Columbus had several Canes restaurants. I got really excited, but I was only in town for two days and there was so little time. I certainly couldn't eat that before the race could I? Pre-race meals are super important, and canes would probably be terrible running fuel. Well, I couldn't resist. I had Canes for my pre-race meal but I ended up beating my personal best time. All due to Canes I'm sure! Of course, I celebrated being going back to Canes for my post-race meal a couple hours later. Columbus, you're so lucky...

Raising Cane's must be raising crack! Because I'm addicted!! My love for chicken gotten so strong through this establishment. The food is always fresh and fast. If you happen to stop by their drive-thru location on Olentangy they will greet you with an overly excited but quite quirky "Chicken Chicken what's your picking (I think)" greeting over the intercom. If that doesn't get you in the mood to eat I don't know what else will. The atmosphere is chill and will encourage you to strike up a conversation with the posters, signs and memorabilia posted on the walls. They are located on OSU campus so parking is pretty null and void considering they are on one the busiest streets in Columbus. Even though they already have eight locations in Ohio, I would LOVE to see them in Cleveland!

  • Anne K.

The special sauce, the texas toast, the chicken, the coleslaw. Screw the fries, get an extra piece of bread or more sauce!!! You can get fries everywhere, but the other things... TO DIE FOR. Oh god, I wish I was in Columbus to eat some now. The cane's sauce is FANTASTIC with everything. The coleslaw is not vinegar-based, which makes it 1000 times better. The fries are crinkle-cut, but as I said, you can get fries elsewhere... or just splurge and order an extra side (that is after you already subbed it out for your 2nd piece of their delicious texas toast). The chicken is breaded to perfection. The sauce, oh the sauce... I don't even know how to describe it's amazing-ness. In the mood for fast food? GET CANES CHICKEN. yum!!!

  • Matthew B.

Can enough praise be heaped upon Raising Cane's? I think not. Sure, they only really have one thing: chicken fingers. But that one thing they do incredibly well with alarming consistency. I can't think of a tastier, juicier hunk o' fried bird I've ever had. The other secret to Cane's success is their secret sauce. Why's it so damned addictive? I don't know. It looks like Pepto-Bismol with pepper ground into it, but I'll be damned if it isn't liquid crack. It's great for dipping the chicken in, of course, and also the garlic toast and the french fries. I was only mildly impressed with Cane's until I discovered they keep packets of Texas Pete behind the counter. Now I absolutely love Cane's, because I can get great food and nearly ruin it by drowning it in a small loch of hot sauce.

"Hot chicken! Hot chicken! Which combo ya pickin'?" To have such a limited menu, this place rocks. The fries are always golden brown, the chicken is always fresh from the grease and the toast is perfection. Nice atmosphere, mainly OSU students, like myself. The wait should not be too long, granted, you go on weekdays during daylight hours. Go on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday after the clubs close (around 2am) and you'll be standing in a line that is out the door. Don't expect to sit down either, but the line moves rather fast, the food stays fresh, the staff stays upbeat and hey! you even have entertainment from the drunks lol! All jokes aside, the staff tried their best to keep the place clean and provide excellent service. I highly recommend.

One of my favorite food places on campus! Great food, great people! The atmosphere is just fun-loving. Sometimes the cooks are singing and dancing to the mostly pop music that's played. I love seeing people having a good time even at work!

  • David M.

S'alright. Nothing special. If they really are marinating the chicken, they can stop. It doesn't seem to do anything. Cane's sauce is different and good. Fries are always a tad bit soggy. Better fingers at countless other places, although maybe not at fast food restaurants.

  • Kristina B.

I plan on creating a spout that comes out of my fridge or sink that ONLY dispenses Cane's sauce. *stamp patent* Don't steal my idea. Texas toast = WTF do I only get one? Omg, please include another in any of the meals. I could really go for 2. Pretty quick service at this location. Appreciated, natch, seeing as how I can't wait to inject my life with this glorious chicken. 1 Caniac please. Don't judge.

this place is on high street, right across from osu, or the osu, or whatever is the correct way to call that school in ohio. anyways, that seems like a very convenient location. it's apparently very popular too - it was PACKED the entire time i was there. anyways i had their chicken fingers meal. very good. fries, very good. bread, very good. i think i was just really hungry. the price was right, i think it was about $7 for the meal (with a drink). service was nice (very friendly cashier girl). place was clean. i don't know if i will drive 75 miles up from kettering to try this place next time i'm in ohio, but if i happen to be near osu and have only $7 on me, i guess i know where i'll be heading for lunch.

Just seeing the name "Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers" gets my mouth salivating. The shit on the walls is a little weird and reminds of me of a moment from "Super Troopers" but otherwise, this place is flawless. I believe that there should be a place like Cane's for every type of food. It takes one cuisine and makes it into the best version of that food in the world. With Cane's it's chicken fingers. With Chipotle it's burritos. Do what you know how to do and do it better than anyone else ever could. The chicken fingers are obviously incredibly fresh. You have to wait at this place, especially when it's busy. But, it's worth it. Wait for quality, it's a fact of life. The coleslaw is totes awesome and the fries are nothing to ignore. But my friends the best thing at Cane's? And I mean the absolute reason I would pay $300 to take a flight from Boston to Columbus to go to this restaurant: The toasted bread. Dipped in Cane's sauce. The bread is always, let me repeat that, always toasted to perfection. It's buttery and greasy. Beautiful. And Cane's sauce. Gasp. It's the best sauce in the world. It's peppery and tangy and perfect on fries, bread and chicken. For those of you who are seriously complaining about it being only chicken fingers: give it a rest. Those who want nom chicken, go to Cane's. If you want everything else: go somewhere else. The chicken at Cane's is it. For Real. There is never any reason to hate on Cane's food. Ever.

Oh how I miss you cane's chicken! You are not in Chicago, and it makes me sad. They just opened a Chik-Fil-A in downtown Chicago, and because of the hype people believe it's amazing chicken. If they only had a taste of your tender fried chicken strips, and your amazing sauce. As well as a piece of your buttery Texas toast.

Most of my conversations with those who have never been to Raising Cane's go something like this: Inexperienced Raising Cane's Goer: So, they only have chicken fingers? Me: Yes, my friend. Only chicken fingers. IRCG: What about a chicken sandwich? Me: Sure, how about chicken fingers on a bun. IRCG: Can I get honey mustard sauce? Me: Man, you better go somewhere else... The chicken fingers here are simply amazing. I applaud Raising Cane's for serving what they know best. They simply don't need anything else on the menu. I don't think I have ever had a chicken finger that was so flavorful, so juicy or cooked to such perfection. I'm not sure I even knew a chicken finger could taste so good. And the sauce...I would say that I could have it injected directly into my veins, but I couldn't miss out on that flavor! They serve crinkle-cut fries, which I'm a little surprised and slightly disappointed by. I'd choose a shoestring or waffle any day over a crinkle. That being said, though, the fries are a nice side. There's also coleslaw, but I've never had it (not a fan). The sweet tea is spot on with anything you'd find in a southern lady's kitchen, and the Texas toast seals the deal.

  • Randy S.

Raising Cane's has to be understood in the context that it strictly offers ONLY chicken fingers and a few sides. If you can't get over that, move on. If you can get behind that idea and appreciate this hyper-compartmentalization, then keep dipping those tasty fingers. Cane's fingers are peerless. They are wonderfully tender. The fingers are available in packs of three, four and six. For real devotees, party trays of 25+ are available too. Of course, the sauce is the thing here. Access to only one sauce is perhaps just as shocking to the uninitiated as the chicken-only menu. The secret sauce is all you need, though. I could drink the stuff like so much sweet tea. It's creamy, a little tomato-y and very peppery. I've tried imitating it at home. I've been close to cracking the code, but I just can't figure it out. On the side comes tasty garlic bread, crinkle-cut fries and coleslaw. They're all great additions that don't detract from the main event. Cane's already has three restaurants in C-bus, plus there's one on its way to Grove City. Join me on the bandwagon while you can. This place rocks.

Raising Cane's came to existence during my last year at OSU. During this time, I vanquished dozens and dozens of chicken fingers. Place is damn good, and they've got their own unique sauce.

  • Lisa S.

When you only have 4 things on your menu, you darn well better do them right. Chicken fingers, fries, Texas toast, and coleslaw. Those are your choices at Cane's, and they made sure to get it right. The chicken fingers come from fresh (not frozen) chicken, and I'm guessing this is the cause for the juice tender and savory flavor in the chicken. I don't know what they use for breading, but my guess is some magnificent combination of corn flakes and love. Their chicken fingers and juicy, not greasy. Remember that. As for the rest of the menu, everything remains comparatively as good as the chicken itself. The Texas toast has a nice buttery brown crispy outside, and a soft warm inside. Crinkle cut fries are served with every meal, and coleslaw with some. The real kicker, besides the chicken, Cane's sauce, and Texas toast? The sweet tea. Amazing. It's like drinking liquid candy.

I live in Michigan, but every time i go to Columbus... It's CANE'S TIME. This place is insanely delicious. The cane's sauce? Dip everything in it. The toast, pretzels, chicken, or fries. Their chicken is amazing and so is that damn toast. Last time I went the restaurant had a line practically going out of the door, yet, I still received my order without waiting a shocking amount of time. Get extra cane's sauce, please.

I don't know what they put in the Cane's sauce but it's addicting as all heck. And goes with EVERYTHING (well, everything I've tried it with. Which is chicken, fries, Texas toast and soft pretzels). Food is hot and fresh no matter when you go in (after the bars close, before a football game, for lunch between classes). So good. One of my favorite places to eat.

Raising Cane's unapologetic concept of serving nothing but chicken fingers may be baffling at first, but you'll be back. Oh yes, you'll be back. I was more than irked when I found out that these chicken-peddlers were replacing my favorite bagel joint on High St. (the sorely missed Beekman's, of course), so my skepticism for a chicken shack with faux-college kitsch on the walls was understandably high. Regardless, I browsed the menu and ordered a meal that consisted of 4 chicken fingers, garlic toast, coleslaw, special sauce, and fries. And I stood there and waited to be impressed. Then I waited some more. Apparently the cost of freshness is an above average wait-time, depending on whether you got there during in the midst of a glut of customers or not. When I finally got my hands on the bounty I had waited about ten minutes for, I was dually impressed to say the least. The fingers were piping hot, lightly breaded, and just a tad bit greasy- perfect, to put it plainly. I bit in to one sans sauce just to get an idea of the texture, and it was as good as friend chicken can possibly be. And then there was the sauce. What the sauce is made of is one of the greatest culinary mysteries of the 21st century. It somehow manages to be tangy, sweet, and just a little bit spicy all at the time same time. Most of the time I'm able to pick up on whether a restaurants special sauce is nothing more than a tricked-out rendition of ranch or mayo, but Cane's sauce was something entirely new to me. It complimented the fingers perfectly, and together they made a believer of me. The garlic bread and coleslaw seemed like an afterthought compared to the one-two-punch of the chicken and the sauce, but I knew I'd be able to forgive them for this in time. The only strike against Cane's is the fact that it's a dichotomy: either you like chicken or you don't. I'd love to see them venture into the brave new world of barbecue or buffalo flavors, but it seems highly unlikely at this juncture in time. No worries; I'll be back. And so will you.

I love Cane's, but since it's not the most accommodating place for those not looking for chicken fingers, it loses a star. The chicken strips are amazing--truly fresh, meaty, nicely breaded (tempura style), fried to perfection, and absent of any of the possible faux pas: not greasy, not salty, and not made from McMeat). They're accompanied by very basic sides: cole slaw, French fries, and Texas toast. All in all, it's a great meal. Barbecue sauce, honey mustard, sweat and sour? Look elsewhere. One sauce to rule them all, and it's actually pretty good. It's not my style, but I find it rather good. Gulp down some wonderful sweat tea or freshly squeezed lemonade you're in heaven. What can be wrong with this? They're no other options! Even Chic Fil-A offers a few variants of chicken, plus salads, and other those cute bovines--though not for chowing on. Cane's doesn't even let you order a basket of fries (vegetarians be damned!). Oh well, it's just rather hard to talk the wife into going there.

When I first heard Canes was opening and would be a "chicken fingers" place, my first thought was that they'd jazz things up by offering a huge variety of sauces to accompany the chicken fingers. And perhaps a nice variety of sides. Instead, there is ONE sauce, and the whole of the Canes food menu is as follows: -Chicken fingers (available in combos of 3, 4 or 6) -Chicken fingers on a bun -fries (crinkle-cut, presumably from frozen) -cole slaw -texas toast --in addition to the combos, everything on the menu, INCLUDING chicken fingers, is also available a la carte. The chicken fingers are, as one would hope, spectacular. Breading is thin and flaky, not overpowering, never underdone. Sometimes (rarely) overdone and dry, but usually they're perfectly crisp and juicy. The one sauce ("Cane's Sauce") is... really hard to describe. It's not a BBQ, it's not a honey mustard... I don't know what it is, but it IS tasty. The sandwich is very sloppy - the chicken fingers on a bun format doesn't work particularly well in quantities more than, well, one. It's tasty. Fries are just OK - very underwhelming. They don't brown much at all, but do crisp up well enough. They go well with the Cane's sauce. The texas toast is perhaps the highlight of the menu - even moreso than the chicken. I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone told me that their original plan was to sell ONLY texas toast, and the chicken fingers were added just to keep the carnivores appeased. It's good stuff, thick, just the perfect crispness on the outside, soft on the inside, buttery goodness. Cole slaw is... cole slaw. Move along. If you like chicken fingers (or fried chicken in general), you NEED to get to Canes. If you DON'T like chicken fingers, then it's pretty safe to say that Canes is not the place for you. (Just have your chicken finger-liking friends bring you home some texas toast!) I WANT to give a 4.5, dinging for the "meh" fries... but without that option, I'll err on the side of the chicken fingers + sauce + texas toast awesomeness.

Sure, Cane's chicken fingers were the best I've ever had. They were fall-apart tender, and oh-so-lightly breaded. But they were still just chicken fingers. It's one of the least interesting ways to prepare the least interesting meat, people! IT'S ALL THEY SERVE. If that's your thing, fine, just keep giving 'em five stars. I'll never understand.

Cane's is basically the southern equivalent to a British fish and chips stand. Do you like chicken fingers? If the answer is no, then look elsewhere. Cane's specializes in chicken fingers... and only chicken fingers. Some might perceive the 3-star rating as bad. Well, it's not. By yelp's information 3-stars equals "A-OK" and that is exactly what Cane's is. The fingers are good; fresh breast meat strips (they claim never frozen) lightly breaded, and flaky. They're served with fries that vary in quality, but are at best mediocre, a side of coleslaw that is good, but not particularly so, a slice of Texas toast, which for Texas toast is very good, and a portion of "Cane sauce". People seem to have glorified Cane's into something it's not. I can honestly say I've had comparable chicken in various small family diners elsewhere. It seems that when most people get to used to frozen fast food chicken fingers and a company comes along making them fresh again, it is somehow amazing. The breading isn't extraordinarily well-seasoned. The unique quality is the sauce, which tastes like a mixture of ketchup, mayo, paprika, and coarse ground pepper (I'm not saying that's what it is, but that's what it TASTES like. I've produced a similar tasting sauce in my kitchen with the mentioned ingredients.). I've also heard people talk about the iced tea they serve. Yes, it's good. But ultimately it's just southern-style tea. I believe Arizona sells it in bottles. You can even make it at home. Make some tea to the strength you prefer and mix in 1 part sugar to every 3 parts water, then refrigerate. Crazy, I know. Don't get me wrong, if you have an appetite for chicken fingers you will not be disappointed. It is, however, unlikely that you'll be blown away. I'd recommend it as a good lunch.

Raising Cane's offers exactly what the name implies...chicken fingers. They offer only a handful of items on the menu and all feature some variation in chicken fingers. The Caniac is a lifesave some nights after going out. The High Street location is probably the best in the city but expect it to be packed during lunch and dinner hours during the week and also late night on the weekends. The food is cheap and prepared fresh for you. The sauce is a real surprise as it is fantastic, not just with the chicken, fries or Texas toast that you get in your box. Perfect place to get some food after a night out with friends. They don't offer delivery but when they do, they'll need to expand the store to satisfy the Canes addicts on campus.

I wouldn't consider myself a chicken fingers fan, but I was impressed by Cane's. The fingers are just as juicy and well prepared as all the other reviewers have said. I liked the fries - they have more substance than many other fast food fries, and the crinkles do a great job of catching the salt! :-) I must admit I passed on the cole slaw, since, well, it's cole slaw, and didn't try the Texas toast myself, but my companions had the toast and liked it very much. Overall, not a bad place to get a fast chicken finger something.

  • Megan B.

On a college campus, it's probably God's gift to earth because drunk college students come here all the time, especially since Cane's has late hours.

the. best. fried. chicken. in.

Whoops.

  • Jessie T.

  • Robert H.

Perfect chicken absolutely loved it. Make sure you replace the coleslaw with an extra piece of toast and get double special sauce

    (5)

  • Eric S.

  • Leo S.

I am not satisfied. The chicken fingers were very small, nothing like how it was advertised. I feel ripped off more.

Cane's sauce. That is the only thing that matters about Raising Cane's. Dip everything in it. Standard order: #1 with extra texas toast instead of cole slaw. If you're feeling bold, get the Cainiac.

  • Sarah S.

GET CANES CHICKEN. yum!!!

Overall I really enjoyed Canes and wished Cincy had one.

this place is on high street, right across from osu, or the osu, or whatever is the correct way to call that school in ohio. anyways, that seems like a very convenient location. it's apparently very popular too - it was PACKED the entire time i was there. anyways i had their chicken fingers meal. very good. fries, very good. bread, very good. i think i was just really hungry. the price was right, i think it was about $7 for the meal (with a drink). service was nice (very friendly cashier girl). place was clean. i don't know if i will drive 75 miles up from kettering to try this place next time i'm in ohio, but if i happen to be near osu and have only $7 on me, i guess i know where i'll be heading for lunch.

S'alright. Nothing special. If they really are marinating the chicken, they can stop. It doesn't seem to do anything. Cane's sauce is different and good. Fries are always a tad bit soggy. Better fingers at countless other places, although maybe not at fast food restaurants.
