Independent restaurants are becoming dinosaurs in our chain-full world! FOOD: Definitely has an expansive menu with a variety to touch everyone's palate. As for our table, we order a filet mignon and New York Strip. STOP!!! HOLD THE TRAIN! Ok, now that I have your attention, both steaks were cooked perfectly... I have been to the high-end steak places and never had two steaks cooked so right. Please continue this. Bake potato and scallop potatoes were superb and hot. As for their bread and salad, the bread was freshly baked and I would buy it weekly. Salads were tasty with their homemade ranch. The chicken dishes hit the mark, but I would want to talk to the chef for a new pasta sauce. SERVICE: At first a bit spotty, but it appeared our waiter had 3 tables each at finishing meals, but we were good. Recommend that the additional help get the bread, water and drinks for the waiters. Everyone can use a helping hand :) Once we got things going, the server was spot-on. He was personable and polite and we enjoyed the meal. ATMOSPHERE: No complaints, typical family style restaurant with a nice patio. However, I recommend moving the smokers a little farther from the door, since smoke was coming inside. OVERALL: I believe this could be a new place we visit. Our first time here was very positive.

OK..I dont even KNOW where to start.. Today is my GF's Birthday. Just got home from this pit..Her family wanted to take her some place nice for her Bday. Well, Im going to tell you, Ive had better meals, and SERVICE, from McDonalds.. I noticed the waiters "attitude" right away. Like we "were bothering him".Says he only been there two weeks. Well, IDK where he worked before that place, but I cant IMAGINE he had ever been a server before. Now,Im not one to eat at "fancy restaurants. So, by the looks of the place, and the PRICES on the MENU, I would NEVER had thought we would have gotten an experience like we did..There were 6 of us there. Her mom asked for some sort of simple wine mixed drink, and he came back and said "They didnt have the ingredients to MAKE it"..Then came back later, and said they "managed to make it for her". Should have KNOWN something was up right then.. My GF and I ordered the Prime Rib. Her dad, the surf and turf. Her brother, the Ahi Tuna. Her sister got another type of steak. The guy brings out the meals, and sort of "throws" them at us. I watched him almost SPILL the sauce off my GF's plate onto her LAP. He threw mine, and I had a puddle of sauce where my hand would "normally" sit. So I sat there with my hands in my LAP, to avoid getting it on my shirt.. ALL our meals were cold. Place was darker than any place Ive ever eaten. I THOUGHT my steak looked raw, but assumed it was just the lights.. Yeah, well, my steak wasnt just cold. It was COLD. As in, took out of the fridge, threw on the grill for about 30 seconds COLD. We had ordered the prime rib medium rare. But, I was starving. I didnt complain, even as I had to GNAW through all the grizzle and fat..The Au Jus was warmer than my steak..Ate enough so I wasnt hurting from hunger pains anymore, but finally told my GF, we'd just box em up, take em home, and RECOOK them.. My baked Potato? It was warm. Finally ate IT, just to EAT something edible..Her dad had his sent back, because it was SO cold. He asked them to bring him some cocktail sauce. They bring it back out, I GUESS warm (Didnt say anymore about it, though I think he was just PISSED at that point), but still no cocktail sauce.. Her brothers Ahi? I dont think it was even Ahi. Not like IVE ever seen, and Im from Florida.. Finally asked for some boxes. Dude brings out the boxes, UNDER HIS ARMPIT, with them open, INTO his body.. GF asked for a cup for her Au Jus? He acted AGAIN, like we were bothering him.. Finally its over. Get it all boxed, and get out the cake her dad brought. Asked for a knife? Kid throws a knife their way, and hit the cake, and didnt so much as apologize..The whole time, Im trying to "behave myself" in front of her parents..OTHERWISE, he would NOT have LIKED me.. A few of the waiters DID come over and sing Happy Birthday to her. THAT was nice. The ONLY part of the whole experience that was enjoyable.. As I ATE the cake, I LITERALLY got "the shakes". Im NOW sitting HERE, trying NOT to think about puking, as I think Im REAL close..Looked at the steaks under the lights here at home? Yeahhh, theyre RAW... Kid brings the bill. Well, cause there was 6 of us, the gratuity was added automatically. Bill came to TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY THREE DOLLARS, including the "gratuity".. Bottom line? I wouldnt recommend this place to my ENEMY.. Ive NEVER been into that nice of a restaurant, and Ive never gotten THAT bad of a meal... Avoid this place at ALL costs..

Visited the Wellington Grille during Restaurant Week 2014. First time here and there was a Chef's battle taking place so we decided to try the specials and rate the Chef's. We started with 2 different salads, one with pears, walnuts and mixed greens and the other with asparagus and mixed greens, we were not impressed with either. There were four entrees to pick from, steak, salmon, prawns or seafood mix. We had steak and salmon. The steak was cooked well but extremely small (maybe had 9 bites), the side was a baby Yukon gold potato (the side of sour cream was bigger than the potato) and stalk of broccoli. The second entree was salmon, 3 bites of squash and risotto. Everything tasted good but we thought we would have had more than just a tasting. Dessert was a mini slice of buckeye pie or banana pudding, both were just okay. In the end we were glad we tried it out but will not be returning customers. There are many restaurants in the Dayton metro area that top this one.

We had reservations for NYE at 8:30, we were seated by 8:25. Our dining experience went downhill from there. The service was TERRIBLE! I was a server for about ten years and I have worked in a variety of restaurants, so I feel justified in saying that our server had no business being there. The first thing he said to us was "I'll be right back, I have to take care of something" After waiting ten minutes, he took our drink order. I had to explain the type of wine I had been drinking at the bar as he had no idea what I was talking about, it was on the wine list table tent, and obviously on special, so I feel like he should have known. This was forgivable. Our drinks came out (not in a very timely manor) and he proceeded to take our food order. He obviously didn't know the menu because he asked what kind of potato I wanted. I had to remind him that the meal was served with rice and did not come with a potato. No big deal. We both ordered a bowl of French onion soup, this also took awhile. It was brought out in little cups with shredded cheese on top. It was not even hot enough to melt the cheese. We sent it back. It was disgusting. After waiting probably another 15 minutes, he brought out two crocks of real French onion soup, this confused me. Why didn't we get this in the first place? He stopped back and I ordered another glass of wine, which I watched sit at the bar for a good ten minutes before it was brought to the table. At 9:25 ( I was checking my watch at this point) we flagged him down and asked about our food. His reply was something to effect of " I'll go ask the kitchen, we had a thirty top." A couple that was seated a good time after us was already eating their meal, and we watched trays and trays of food come out, so I feel like he was blaming the kitchen and maybe he forgot to put our order in? I'm not sure, I could be wrong about this. Either way, at 9:40 our food finally came out. We didn't even get an apology. The dinner was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth $30 a plate. We were not asked if we wanted desert. They were obviously in the weeds and extremely busy, I wouldn't be writing this review if our server had at least smiled and pretended to care about his job. (Or at least had the sense to not bring out that dreadful looking French onion soup.) After dropping of the check, he finally said "sorry about the wait". This wasn't very convincing. It's not difficult to fake a smile and pretend like you care, I did it for years waiting tables. Sorry Wellington, but this guy needs to go, he's bringing you down.

Nice small family restaurant with a nice area for couples dining. The service was outstanding and the complimentary bread is delicious. The prime rib was simply the best. I've also had the pork chops here and they too were very good. I highly recommend the Wellington Grille.

After living only a couple miles from Wellington Grille for the past eight years, my wife and I finally took the recommendation of a friend and went there. Overall, the atmosphere was really nice and sophisticated. You could tell that there were a lot of regulars here, but we still felt welcome. We started out with a shrimp cocktail. The waiter cautioned us about the cocktail sauce having some heat to it from the horseradish and he was right; however that made it really tasty. We also had some of the house potato chips that came with a French onion dip which although it would have been nice if the chips were still hot, they were pretty good as well. I had a grilled chicken salad with the house vinaigrette which was very good. My wife had the beef stroganoff that was made with their homemade pasta which was excellent. We also had a plentiful supply of homemade bread which was right out of the oven. I'm not a huge fan of rye bread, but theirs was exceptionally good. As the other reviewer stated, what the Wellington really excelled at was the wait staff's attention to detail and professionalism. This combined with really good food is what will bring me back to the Wellington.

2couples visited Wellington on Thursday, 11 July. Seated at about 5.45. 3 other tables occupied. Overall: 3 of 4 meals good, service very, very slow. Finally got first drink after 20 minutes. Placed orders part way through first drink. Waitress announced order would take a while and we might not see her. Sure enough! When second drinks were needed, had not seen waitress so tackled a busboy and told him our problem. He produced waitress who took order, and drinks arrived in a reasonable time. After further delay, Appetizers arrived - escargot and calamari. Both were on the good side of OK. Salads were quite tasty. Very nice bleu cheese dressing. Entrees duckling, surf and turf, and crab cakes were pronounced very good and clean plates resulted. Fourth Entree was pronounced inedible and returned. A concoction of supposedly fettuccini Alfredo deep fried and served over a marinara sauce. Was dry, tasteless and returned to the kitchen. We're there until after 8 pm. It seems like the food largely lives up to the high prices, if you order carefully, btut the slow service really a downgrades the wholes experience.

Food is overpriced and mediocre (except beet salad, which is horrible). Service is slow. Staff is friendly, but management sets them up for failure with overpriced entrees and menu that is less than inspiring. This place is tries to be high-end, but lacks the class to pull it off. Unless you like overpriced, average tasting food with an attitude; I strongly suggest you go elsewhere...

Loved the good food. Panko crusted chicken over parmesan risotto was amazing! They home make all their desserts!

Highly recommend. Amazing service, outstanding food and impressive cocktails. Love the locally owned, locally sourced food, served in season. This restaurant also supports their local community and schools. The have donated meals to the Beavercreek High School Weekend of Jazz for the last six years. Feeding Blood, Sweat and Tears, Duke Ellington Orchestra, Tito Puente, etc. These artists have all raved about the food provided by the Wellington Grille. It is pricey, but you won't be disappointed. Lovely atmosphere. Friends of ours were proposed to here. You can't go wrong. The owners & chefs truly care for the work of art created in the kitchen.

First time back in a long time and I felt cheated...We had an amazing dinner. Why did we stop coming here? No idea. I will say though, and its why they arent getting 5 stars, that stench when you walk in the door almost sent us packing. It was a sewage type smell. Im betting its the drains in the bar because we didnt smell it in the dining area. That is a huge problem and kills appetites. Nice wine list. We didn't have any trouble finding something we liked and the pricing was more reasonable than most restaurants. They also have nice by the glass options, good beer and cocktail selection. Our server was definitely a pro. He delivered great service, was very friendly and made sure our experience was great. He was also very accommodating. I asked for a dressing that was used for a specialty salad and he was more than happy to allow that. It was a basil blue dressing. AMAZING! top that house salad with some blue cheese crumbles and WOW. I wanted another one. They have a great selection for entrees. You will easily find something you like. The specials sounded really good too. I got the crab cakes and was pleasantly surprised. My wife got a Mediterranean chicken pasta that was really good as well. My father in law got the meatloaf which was a nice size portion and my mother in law got the panko crusted chicken with parmesan risotto. They were both extremely happy with their dishes. This place also has a decent patio. It was raining so we couldn't take advantage of it but on clear skies that is always our choice. Fix the plumbing and you get that fifth star!

By far the worst service on a consistent basis of any restaurant/bar I've made multiple attempts to try. The staff is a misfit social group of failures capable of an air of snobbishness that seems to attract a small group of likeminded locals as patrons. It's a shame a place in such a high traffic area, miles away from any competing businesses, can't make an effort to be anything other than a hobby business funded by a spouse and a small inheritance. The one time I waited around long enough to get a meal, it was pretty good. The poor service just ruins it.

Great panko and pecan crusted chicken. Good drinks and meatloaf, owner stopped by the table and was kind and generous. Decent wine list and great overall choice in Dayton. I'll be back.

My husband and I both love this restaurant, and dine here often. The service is exceptionally good. The servers and the staff are very professional as well as caring and make us feel special and welcome. The food is great and always perfectly cooked. We try different items from the menu and have never been disappointed. The french onion soup, crab cakes and the steaks are exceptional. There is plenty of choice and everything is delicious.
