Finally a Japanese restaurant in Beavercreek! The atmosphere is elegant and contemporary. The staff is friendly and attentive. The bar offers a great selections of Sake, Wine, and top shelf Liquors. If you love Hibachi, Udon, and fresh Fish w/ generous portions you will enjoy you this restaurant! If you know and love Japan food, this place is best you find in town! I've tried every Japanese restaurant in Dayton, Fairborn and Beavercreek... this is the only one that I had not been disappointed! Best Sushi and Sashimi (my fav) Deb

This place is your typical teppanyaki restaurant. The service is great and the employees are very friendly. The food is good, but nothing spectacular. It is very pricey at dinner time but more than affordable during lunch. The sushi is adequate. The restaurant is very clean. Overall it was a good experience. Will definitely return.

Popped in here late one evening due to the positive Yelp reviews. We were staying a couple blocks away on a cross-country trip. We arrived just before closing and ate at the sushi bar. Excellent service even at the late hour. The sushi was simple but flavorful, and we didn't have to wait. The staff was cleaning the kitchen while we ate, which negatively impacted the flavor of the food, but the intrusion wasn't too bad considering the time we arrived. If we stop here again we'll probably try to get in a little earlier.

I went with a group and while they all did the hibachi grill, I got the Yaki Udon. They raved about their food and I can't say enough about how good the Yaki Udon was. The staff was pleasant and took great care of us.

Not bad, though not that great. It tastes OK. The Habachi steak, which is their specialty I assume because the restaurant is a steakhouse after all, was very average tasting for the expensive price of $20. The sushi was better tasting, but not as good as EDAMAME Sushi restaurant (Columbus, OH). This place is very expensive for the taste which is just OK. If you get a chance, go to Benihana (especially the one in Los Angeles, although there's one in Cincinnati, OH). Now THAT is real habachi steak!!

The service at this location is far better than the one at the same Osaka in heuber heights. Although my husband and I have only eaten at this location twice, it was delicious. The first time we ordered the hibachi grill, I had steak and my husband had shrimp and filet combo...they were both fantastic! And you get a streaming hot miso soup and small salad with the meal. The second time, I ordered the vegetarian with tofu and veggies, he ordered shrimp and we shared 3 sushi sides of variety of rolls. The hibatchi seemed even better thr second time, and the sushi was great too. We KNOW FOR SURE we are eating there again. Service was outstanding and very attentive.

We've been to Osaka's many times. The Sushi chef is incredible! The Asia Gourmet at the Greene has great sushi, but we believe Osaka's is even better. The Wright-Patt maki roll is to die for. We've also had the Hibachi dinner many times. The showmanship of the cooks is similar to most hibachi dinners, but the food has always been delicious, cooked perfectly. The manager, Henry, is very friendly, and our service has always been good. What's not to like? All of our friends who we've gone there with feel the same

I'm here for a speaking engagement since THAT is what I do. What a great yummy place. Sucks that they do not deliver at all! Taxis suck here. $15 each way for 2.4miles. UGH!!

Nice, clean restaurant with good sushi. The variety could be better, but overall satisfied and would definitely dine here again. We go strictly for sushi so I can't comment on the hibachi portion of the restaurant. Chefs also gave several complimentary rolls throughout which was a nice touch.

Solid 4 star sushi restaurant! My wife and I had been craving sushi so after the gym one day we decided to try this place that we had driven by a couple of times. Still in our gym clothes, we figured it wouldn't be a big deal but this was dinner time and most people were dressed up a bit more... Oops! We were seated right away at the tables near the sushi bar and I dove straight for the sushi menu. My order consisted of the Island... something roll, haha, the Alaska roll, the shrimp tempura roll, and my usual, a philadelphia roll. Both the Alaska and Shrimp Tempura roll were only $5 as part of their Friday night special so that was pretty nice! The food came out very quickly and I started with the Island roll. The first thing I noticed was that they definitely did not shy away from using a good amount of fish and crab meat in these rolls! The Island roll was fantastic! I moved on and the other rolls were good too and did not disappoint, but the Island roll was definitely a stand out. One thing that also surprised me was that the Philadelphia roll had quite large pieces of salmon too which had a good flavor but were a little too chewy; still good though. Overall for the amount of sushi my wife and I got the price was very good and they even have a military discount! Woo! Good food and later we'll definitely have to come back and sit at the hibachi grill!

Wow! What a pleasant surprise. We started with Sushi plate appetizer; then had the Hibachi fillet mignon, salmon, and chicken. All were outstanding. Service was very attentive and you gotta love it when the owner comes over and personally asks if everything is good. This place is winner.

Hibachi is all the same but it's the servers who stand out. Bob/Tyrone/ whatever stage name he wants to give you, made our dinner amazing :)

Sushi quality is average. They were out of uni like most places in Dayton OH. service was good and attentive. Food was fresh. I will try hibachi next.

Came here to try the food and it was exceptional! I tried the hibachi chicken and shrimp and was very pleased. The servers went above and beyond to meet my expectations. The sushi was also very good, we tried the Osaka roll and it was perfect! I wish I could rate this restaurant 10 stars!

The filet mignon at the hibachi grill is absolutely amazing, although I've ordered medium rare a few times and it's always been meduium. The fried rice is up to speed, and the portions are large for both. I've gotten the sushi rolls here too but they're not the best thing ever. My coworker said she actually got sick once eating them. Of course, this is third hand knowledge, so don't let that dissuade you. I also got the udon noodle bowl once and liked it a lot.

Checked out this restaurant on a Thursday night for hibachi. Their were only two other tables occupied in the restaurant and it took the chef 45 minutes to start making our food. I ordered chicken and was way too overdone and chewy, my boyfriend ordered steak and was not tasteful. For paying $40 a meal it was not worth it. Will not be returning

This place is a lot of fun! Food is great and service generally is as well. We have had a couple of occasions when it hasn't been spot on and that can kind of detract from the experience. We always do the hibachi which is just as entertaining as it is delicious. The chefs are generally a lot of fun and pretty interactive. I usually get the chicken or steak and I have never been disappointed. The one thing that I find a mystery is the "magic pea". The last few times we have ordered fried rice there has been nothing in it...but yep...you guessed it...a single pea. We were thinking like maybe the person who gets the magic pea gets a prize or something like that...nope...the person who gets the pea gets lucky because that is it. ONE pea. Our issues with service have been with drinks and sushi. Frequently drinks go unrefilled and we have had entire orders of sushi forgotten. Overall though it is great and we enjoy dining here!

I ordered a sashimi dinner for take-out tonight. I was very pleased with the taste of all the fish... but again, was disappointed with the order of octopus sashimi I received. I ordered it last time I was here too, and received a half frozen portion. Today, it was thawed, but the texture was off and it was a bit slimy. I will not order it again. The sashimi dinner was AWESOME. And I was very happy to receive mackerel as one of the chef's choices. The portion of soup was also very generous and she included white rice on the side per request. Thank you!!! My dinner was delicious and I'll definitely order the sashimi dinner again!!

We went to Osaka on a fairly active Friday night. We were lucky to find a parking spot 10 meters away from the entrance in the quite full parking lot provided! We came here so we could host a birthday for a party of ten. So, my sister, her husband, and I set off to the restaurant first to secure or reservation and possibly order a few appetizers so that when the rest of the party came, they could have something to munch on at arrival. However, our greeter told us that we couldn't do so, that there were too little of us at that moment to order hibachi. Our greeter terribly misinterpreted our initial interest, repeatedly saying that we can't order hibachi when all we wanted were appetizers. After that ordeal was figured out, she apologized saying that she thought we meant hibachi, even though we never spoke of hibachi and just wanted to be seated to order apps. The greeter aside... Our waiter was incredibly sweet and nice! He handled our big party very well. We came in with an outside cake and asked to have it chilled and brought out for dessert and he did just that. We pre-ordered the apps and they came out in a timely manner when the rest of our party arrived. The complimentary salad came out as well as the soup. It wasn't a miso soup, but probably a Bonito-stock soup? It was fishy. However, the soup was veerryy plain. Mine only contained a lone floating mushroom and a slice of green onion. But the Salad was good. The ginger sauce was nice but the lettuce looked like the packages of salad seen at grocery stores. Everyone in my party except for myself ordered a hibachi dinner. I'm slight of a pescetarian, but most of the time I don't prefer any type of meat at all, even seafood. So it was REALLY hard for me to find a vegetarian dish that wasn't fried rice. I ended up getting yaki-udon. A twist to the traditional udon soup. My udon was very flavorful and served in a large portion. Watching the hibachi chef doing his thing was very entertaining. There is an automatic 15% gratuity fee for parties over six people. I also believe that there is a military discount, but we had forgotten about it when we paid. Boo. Overall good experience and food.

The habachi grill was very good! I had lunch today here and the cook was very engaging with the customers. I had the chicken and shrimp habachi with noodles. Shrimp was fresh and there was a lot of chicken. The portion size was decent. I didn't get to finish... So filling. But the noodles were too saucey and overall the meal was salty. But it was good!

Great opportunity for an event. Always entertaining. If it's your birthday they take a picture of you in their bday hat and post it on their wall. It will be there every time you go back. Fun for the whole family. Gluten free options. Dinner and a show.

I've never had a bad roll here and they definitely don't skimp on their rolls. My complaint is about how long it takes to be seated in a nearly empty restaurant. The awesome rolls keep us coming back though.

We are from out of town (Wisconsin) and we were looking for a good place for dinner. This was wonderful!! Very nice wait staff and fast service. Restaurant was clean and didn't smell funny like some Japanese restaurants can. I was extremely happy with my meal!

My favorite hibachi in Dayton! My wife gets the chicken, I get the beef, then we just share off eachothers plate. That's cheaper than both of us getting the chicken and beef hibachi. Their fried rice is fantastic! The dressing on the salad is delicious so I never get the soup.

Osaka is located on the ever so busy N Fairfield Rd near Golden Corral. There is a private lot, but it is shared by many busy businesses... good luck finding a close spot! I always seem to circle the lots a few times before I find anything relatively close to the establishment I'm trying to get to! H called (apparently just an hour) ahead and made Friday night reservations for 10 for my birthday dinner with family. My sister, H and I got there first and were promptly told by the hostess that we wouldn't be seated until the majority of our party got there. Well, that didn't work for me. I got there before my party to order a few apps, etc.. So I kinda forced my way through and said hostess reluctantly seated us anyway. We met with our server a little while after... and although I forgot his name, he was so sweet! (Thank you Asian Male Server who Pipes Flowers!) H brought in my birthday cake from Ele Cake Co. and said server brought it to the back to be chilled for dessert. Overall, it was a great experience had. My ever so judgmental relatives were amused by our hibachi chef (for having worked only three months, he was incredible!) and entertained by our waiter. Our food (Drinks: Sapporo, Mirin, Ichiban. Apps: sushi, kalamari, coconut chicken, siu mai (fried and steamed); Meals: udon noodles, seafood soup, sushi, hibachi- chicken, filet mignon x2, white fish, scallops and salmon) was overall great and everyone was deeply satisfied! For $260 (including tax and 18% gratuity included because we were a large party), I felt like we got a great deal! The only caveat was that we forgot to mention that we needed a military discount. My dad is a CO at WPAFB and we were so engrossed in our meal we forgot to take advantage of the 10% discount.

Amazing!! This was my first time ever going to a hibachi restaurant and dang was it good! Ordered the sweet potato roll and vegetable hibachi and was not disappointed. The hibachi grill dude was a joy to be around; full of jokes, comments and stories. He really seemed to enjoy what he was doing.

Whenever I want Sushi, I go to Osaka. What I like most about this place is that they are consistent. You can expect the same quality during each visit. My favorite special roll is the surf-and-turf, which I usually eat with a sashimi dinner. The only downside is that I cannot get out of there without spending at least $50 for two people. However, I still recommend this place to anyone who likes Sushi.

Honestly the best hibachi!! Our chef was hilarious and everyone at the table had the best time. And let's be honest, this is why you go to hibachi! It was the first time I've had cold sake shot into my mouth with a squirt bottle, but that definitely added to the overall merriment of the evening! Highly recommend this place!

I honestly don't have anything bad to say. The service was super fast. They recommended great dishes. I ordered and was served in less than 5 min. The server was very knowledgable of the different types of plates and even recommended some great saki. No complaints here.

We went on a Wednesday night, we were the only group there. We had sushi for appetizers. The sushi was good, 3 stars. For hibachi we had filet, scallops, and chicken. The chicken was good, the filet and scallops were excellent. Hibachi 4 stars. Our hibachi chef was excellent and very entertaining. Atmosphere 5 stars.

My favorite restaurant in the Dayton area. My boyfriend and I are loyal customers and have never had a bad meal at Osaka. Go on a Tuesday night and enjoy the $2 avocado rolls or on a Saturday night for the $6 Geisha cocktail. Their entire menu is delicious, but I absolutely love the steak hibachi. I recommend Osaka to all my family and friends.

I love coming back here and trying new rolls. The fish is fresh and I have never had a bad experience here. I recommend the Hawaiian roll even when mango is out of season. The presentation for the Green Crab roll is amazing. They also have daily specials, be sure to check out that menu.

We are a tough crowd when it comes to really good Hibachi! We've been to Kobe's Steak House in Omaha, NE which is still by far the best Hibachi we've ever had, and the famous BeniHana's overseas along with a smattering of others here and there, which failed to impress us! We're tough Hibachi critics because we started out at the best of the best. Nothing so far compares to Kobe's, Osaka is no exception! However, if you're eager to get the Hibachi experience in Dayton, this place is an affordable place to get your feet wet! We were immediately put off by the very rude and almost irritated Hostess. She clearly would rather have been somewhere else, and took it out on us. I expect that at McDonalds, not at a restaurant that purports to be a "luxury". Oh well, onward. We waited ten minutes as a walk in hibachi party of three, good luck for us! That was nice. We sat down in the wide opened oddly colored room, and settled in. It just lacked the feel and ambiance of every other hibachi place we've ever been to. The walls and ceiling felt more like a warehouse mated with an office that wanted it's cubicles back. Just, off. Perhaps it is a works in progress? We gave them the benefit of the doubt. We noticed right off the bat that service seemed rushed, and that special attention you expect to receive at esteemed establishments (where they earn a sizable tip for their efforts!) was not apparent here. Our server was incredibly impersonal, rushing to get the table's orders and drinks, and did not follow up for refills throughout the experience. Our chef was talented as most are at flipping spatulas and performing little tricks, but again, there was a very rushed way about all of the staff, him included, and it lacked the personal feel other places offer that makes you really want to spoil the chef with your generosity. I don't expect to be cheap ever, when I go to a fancy establishment, but it helps if they actually earn their money and we more than eagerly give it to them for a job well done! You do pay for what you get and get what you pay for, usually, if you know what I mean. No so here. Our meals were ok, nothing special. The fried rice for a table of 9 had less than 1/4 cup of the traditional vegetables (peas, etc) in it, which meant that my serving has, I kid you not, ONE pea! Wow. See that for yourself in the photos! The soup was not traditional Miso, and had blobs of oil floating at the top with what looked like waterlogged tempura pieces (what?) which the table all murmured and groaned about, but the salad I found to be quite good if not in need of a few more chops of the blade! I ordered the salmon, which hit the grill looking kind of sickly with weird pale patches all over the fillet when it should have been a nice coral pink. It smelled slightly fishy on the pale patches, which cooked up a strange gray color. I am not talking about the normal gray fatty part of a fillet either, I am talking about the actual meat. We were kind of concerned! The filet mignon and lobster my Husband ordered was reportedly excellent though. I had a bite of the filet and can attest to that! I am glad they nailed that one! Next time, if there is a next time, I'll be getting the filet. I also had their sushi, the Spicy Tuna Roll, and it tasted as it should despite being a bit hard to eat being cut up into six ungodly sized chunks much too big for a small gal's petite mouth when they are traditionally cut into at least 8. Oh well, tasted awesome! It was kind of awkward trying to hide my grotesque puffed out cheeks as I attempted to politely eat the huge pieces one at a time without asking for a knife and ruining the presentation! Last gripe, I promise. I was bummed to find that when I ordered my son's Hibachi meal, which was almost as expensive as the adult meal, it didn't come with the salad or soup! He was so sad! Of course we got him whatever he wanted, but we honestly couldn't imagine why they would deprive a child of the most nutritious part of a meal, the raw veggies! I guess we don't pay them for health food, but still, I thought it was a bit tacky. Perhaps I am just a snob though, and nobody else minds this but me, hehe! Overall it was a blasé experience but it scratched the itch. I won't recommend it anytime soon, but I won't say it was simply bad either. There were certain menu options they did very well, like the filet, and some to avoid rather than complain about or avoid the place altogether because of. If you're new to Hibachi you'll think it's quite neat and different, but be aware there are more elegant, fresh and hospitable options with rich entertainment to be had elsewhere. I'll let you know once I figure out who (if anyone) in Dayton has our seal of approval! Wish us luck! I swear, we're not impossible to please!

This place is pretty good. Service last night was HORRIFIC but that has never happened before. It was so bad that we didn't get soup with our meal because we were told they ran out of SPOONS? and our hibachi chef had to leave our table MULTIPLE times to get meat and other items from the kitchen because of the incompetence of the waiter and his refusal to help the poor guy out every time he asked him to please get him something. The food is well prepared and a fun place to eat every once in a while. Definitely not a regular spot due to cost.

    (3)
  • Russell G.

Certainly not a bad spot, especially for being just outside of Dayton. I didn't come here expecting to be blown away by the seafood. As I thought, the food was good but nothing really noteworthy. I had a Brooklyn roll, yellow tail roll, lover roll and a beauty and the beast roll. All were prepared well but nothing left me wanting to order a second serving. However, the prices here are about what you will find in places with easier access to fresh seafood. They give a 10% discount to military, which is nice. This place is okay for lunch during the work week once in a blue moon but I wouldn't be coming here on my weekends.

Food here is great! Fish is fresh, service is good. I've tired many of the rolls and each of them was good. The fried rice with their special sauce is a must try! Then there is the ginger salad!!! Yum!!!

It was great as always. As to be expected, food was fresh and tasty, service was fine nothing spectacular. This time we went we had a really great chef. He was funny, witty entertaining, engaged in the conversation and cooked a delicious meal. I hope we get him again when we go back. One of the best chefs I've had.

For the price you pay for a meal, you would think the service and food would be a little better. First, the salad (no choice of dressing) was disgusting, it had water at the bottom of the dish and the dressing (some sort of thousand island ) was awful!! The soup was nothing more than chicken broth, I asked! I ordered a margarita and it was weak and had very little lime flavor, if any! For the main course and the hibatchi show, the chef didnt even do an onion volcano?...reallly? He was pleasant enough and the main course food was pretty good. I had steak and chicken, but he made a few extra shrimp for anyone who wanted some. So all in all the main course was good. The waitresses were not very friendly and kind of in a hurry to take away drinks, plates. Not sure we will be back for the price, 55 dollars for the two of us, plus tip.

My wife and I just moved to the Dayton area from Arizona and wanted to find a local sushi place. After reading the positive reviews we decided to check out Osaka. Upon arrival we were seated near the sushi bar, every other table in the vicinity was dirty, i.e. people ate and left but nothing had been touched. The staff seemed to have a very difficult time busing tables and it took 15 minutes for them to get cleaned, sorry but looking at someone's old dinner does nothing to help my appetite. Moving onto the menu my wife and I decided on the 'sushi for two' since it seemed the most reasonably priced option. I have eaten sushi at many places but the prices here were extremely high, with very few rolls under $10. Our sushi finally arrived and it was served to us on a wooden bridge (seriously, a freakin' wooden bridge!). Not only was this thing quite large & cumbersome, it got in the way of us enjoying our mean and did nothing to add to the experience, except providing us some comic relief. The wooden bridge was also wobbly and just about the most ridiculous thing I've even seen in an eating establishment. The sushi itself was lackluster, didn't taste very fresh and in fact reminded my wife and I of sushi we could buy from a supermarket. The meal itself was two rolls and a variety of nagiri. One roll was the California, which should be retired from sushi menus everywhere in my opinion. The nagiri was disappointing, didn't taste fresh at all. The service was satisfactory. Overall this was a disappointing experience and we will not be returning.

My husband and I come here twice since moving to Ohio to satisfy our sushi carvings. The first time was a impromptu dinner on a Friday night. We ordered 4 rolls- the Alaska roll, the Shrimp Tempura Roll, the Fishing Island Roll, and a Philadelphia Roll for my husband (he's loves them), and the Sushi dinner. The Alaska and Shrimp Tempura were both good- and $5 each since it was the Friday night special. Awesome :) My favorite was the Fishing Island roll- it was stuffed with lots of lobster meat and fat pieces of crab and the spicy-ness was perfect. Such a yummy roll! The Sushi dinner was great as well- the fish quality was fantastic and they didn't skimp on the amount of fish either. Definitely satisfied my sushi desires! The second time we came here was for lunch on a weekday. This time wasn't so impressive- I was kinda disappointed at their lunch menu choices :/ I had hoped for a bit more sushi choice, but c'est la vie. I ordered the Eel Avocado roll and the Alaska roll and my husband ordered the Eel Cucumber (he hates avocado- what a weirdo :P) and the Crab Tempura roll. All the rolls were tummy and filling, so I guess I can't complain too much. Overall, this place is turning out some great sushi. I recommend coming here for dinner instead of lunch though.

I was greeted at the entrance by a very cheerful japanese man. No waiting. I ordered avocado . The salad was good, but needed more greens but plenty of cabbage and carrots slices. Too much white lettuce...you know the one no one really likes......, but the fresh 1/2 avocado and dressing made up for it. I had the Philadelphia roll and the Tuna and Avocado roll for the main meal. Both were great. Too much cream cheese in the philadelphia roll for my taste. Half that amount would have been good. Parking was not an issue. Overall a good experience. $21. glass of wine, salad, and 2 dinner rolls.
