I have a confession: I have walked by this place for years but for some reason, never stepped foot inside. Don't ask me why; i just ended up some where else. Perhaps it was because it was just unassuming from the outside and I subconsciously was in the mood for mediocre food and deplorable service across the street at Barristers. Maybe it's because I'm from Southern California and couldn't find anything on the menu with goat cheese or tofu. Well, that's all been resolved after reading all the great reviews here and allow me to add another one. Silver's is a small restaurant but what made it immediately appealing to me was the nice big counter towards the back where you can have a quick and casual lunch. Great for when you want some fantastic food without the formal ordeal of normal table service. Unless you want to of course. Perhaps this is what throws some people off initially regarding the gourmet offerings and the prices. Maybe somewhere in all our minds, "counter service" equals "Waffle House" and we expect a full breakfast for $3.99. I've recently had some disgusting $14 sandwiches at some random Sheraton Hotel lobby and in contrast, the gourmet food and attentive yet friendly service at Silver's is an absolute value. As far as the food goes, there were many things which interested my palette and I started with the lobster bisque. This wonderful soup wasn't just a puree of good stuff, but also had diced bits of veggies and even chunks recognizable as lobster meat. Good flavor and some texture, which is usually not associated with bisque. For my entree, I decided upon the Roman Sandwich, which was a healthy stack of excellent sliced prosciutto topped with slices of fresh and stringy buffalo mozzarella, fragrant leaves of basil, thick cut slices of tomato and a balsamic based dressing which had mustard seeds. Top notch ingredients which you would expect from a restaurant with this many good reviews, but what made this sandwich was the grilled slices of toast, with the char marks that gave it that extra dimension of smoky flavor. The great food, friendly service and casual yet impeccable atmosphere makes Silvers a fantastic place for lunch in Southampton. As a targeted and specific dining destination or simply to grab a bite after a morning of errands or before an afternoon of shopping, Silvers is a must do; just don't wait as long as I did to try it.

There is always a line to get in at this place. Go figure. Got a table for lunch after 25 minutes. Another half hour to get our orders... service is hectic and practically non-existent. You have to be persistent to get even water. Had the grilled octopus salad which was overcooked and rubbery. Not worth the 20$. Also had the clam chowder ($16) which was just passable. A BLT was $18! Everything we had was over salted. I consider myself pretty sophisticated (and definitely am) with respect to food. Silvers is not worth it given the quality and prices. . I will let the lemmings continue to frequent this place and go to much better alternatives.

Very fine. Silver's is only open for lunch and they're closed Wednesdays. My favorite is a lobster bisque and a BLT, both of which are very good. They also serve wine, champagne and drinks. Of all the places to have lunch in the Hamptons, I'd say Silver's takes the cake. The fare isn't cheap - my preferred lunch comes in at almost $40 - but that's par for this area of the world and in Silver's case, I say it's worth it. I put down "dressy" on the attire, but it's relatively casual. The owner and head chef spends about a third of his time chatting with customers, and the staff (which includes his progeny) is very friendly.

Silver's ranks as my favorite brunch-lunch-munch spot in Southampton. But be prepared to pay what some would call a "high price" for their foods. If your philosophy is like mine..."bad food is the most expensive food"...then you'll love Silver's top quality and flavorful preparations. Garrett, chef-owner, will just about do backstands to make your meal memorable...unless you're a jerk. Because "jerks" are shown the door and "banned" from returning. Bravo...let them eat spam.

Be prepared to wait with no attention. We arrived a 2pm and walked out at 330pm on a weekday. Food was good but over priced. Service was below average and note that party's of 4 or more automatically are charged 20% tip (no incentive). Bloody Mary and crab cakes are a must.

So delighted to write a review for one of my favorite spots. Nothing like a glass of wine and a late lunch at Silver's to remember what the Hamptons was. One of a kind family owned, fresh, fresh, fresh. What is that they serve with warm bread, don't pass it up! Always eating my mixed greens which are served a plenty with most meals. If you want a scene and pricey ice cream, eat x the street, keep Silver's real!

  • Luke F.

Expensive with a capital E but worth it as a treat every now and again. The BLT & the Roma sandwiches are my favorite. The burgers are awesome too. They are the size of your head. Ambiance is cool in a classic sort of way, staff is aloof (a good thing), and the warm bread with garlic oil is a great way to start. Points off for no longer offering french fries with the burger. Also, on two occasions the bottle of wine I ordered was not in stock.

best lunch place in Southampton. great bread and soups. my wife loves the lobster bisque and I always go for the chicken noodle during the winter. yummy.

Best Crab cake ever!!! Order these clouds of crabolicious, panko encrusted (ever so lightly) delights and you will forget about everything but the pure pleasure swirling around your senses. It IS a party in your mouth! The" Uptown" (my word not theirs) Mac n Cheese with either Lobster or truffles is a decadent indulgence that should not be missed. You can see them making everything in the open kitchen, which I find very comforting as a veteran of the restaurant biz, I wanted to try the pots de creme and other desserts, but only had room for the lovely Lindzer Cookie with my perfectly prepared cappuccino Everything is fresh and made with great care. Two thumbs up and a finger snap!!!

The best lunch experience in the Hamptons simply put. Silver's decor is reminiscent of a 50's soda fountain. The food is absolutely awesome. The borscht is indescribable as if the french potato leek soup. There is a great selection of salads and sandwiches. It's quite pricey for lunch but worth it. A definite must visit.

  • Kat L.

Its pricey but its a def Hamptons staple. I think the vichyssoise is lame, Pierre's is MUCH better (when they have it). But if someone is looking for the best Lobster bisque, and Lobster Roll on the east end, you cannot beat Silver's. Just be ready to pony up the cash. Great wines by the glass, and there's a waitress who looks EXACTLY like the girl in Ratatouille lol

  • Gary S.

My favorite thing about this place beside the food is the no cell phones rule! You will get asked to leave too. I love that, and have witnessed it 1st hand. Food is good and fresh, but pricey. The soups are great and the scene is mellow. I have sat next to some of the most famous people in the world her and they can be them self. No one cares or bothers the locals. This is a must for us for lunch at least once a week when we are in town.

OK, the prices are high. But the food is outstanding. It will be the best blt you have ever had and more importantly the food is consistently good. Try it - go off hours if you don't like lines.

I love it, I hate it, I love it, I hate it. I have never been so conflicted by an eatery before. Some of the food at this place gives me cravings and I need to go back, the lobster bisque is the best I have had, ever. Some of the sandwiches are really good but let's face it, they are sandwiches. Now here is where I am conflicted, the prices are insane even by manhattan standards and the owner/chef is, well a complete a*s hole. This guy is as condescending as they come and at these prices he should really learn to be a bit nicer, especially to repeat customers. Several people I know still come for the food but are starting to really dislike any interaction with the owner. Also, don't even try to bring kids, they are NOT welcome and you are made to feel they are not. Eat at your own risk, I often find myself across the street at Sant Ambrous more and more. Like a bad habit, I'm trying to kick Silvers because as good as it makes me feel in the moment, I always have regrets after the fact.

Cozy place. well decorated. good wait staff. excellent food. reminds me of union square cafe. one of the best russian borsque soups around. the bread soaked with herb olive oil is great. good refreshing salads but an occasional mealy tomato. for the price you pay here, every tomato better be damn near perfect.

How dare anybody give a negative review I guess its just weekenders and day trippers anyway this restaurant remains superb comming on a cold winter afternoon to be welcomed to warm bread the occasional jazz background music just makes my day. There is nothing like this anywhere else in the hamptons.

  • Amme P.

I would go up to 3.5 stars if I could. Everything we ate was delicious. Simple things like BLT's, burgers, soups, salads, but all a little bit fancy. And they all come with the fancy price tag. Somehow, even though it is the Hampton's, 16$ for a BLT seems high. Service was friendly and capable, but slow. The personal touch of the chef wandering around and saying hi was a good touch.

    (3)
  • Georgia W.

an absolutely amazing place. the lobster bisque and the crab cakes are definitely as good as it gets for lunch on the east end. bloody mary's and stan getz complete the picture. i'd go here every day if i could afford it...

  • Kelly T.

I'm giving it 3 stars. I did have an excellent BLT with homemade mayo. The man had the $25 hamburger with the $5 cheese. Yes, it's the hamptons, blah blah blah. The warm bread served in a bowl of warm salty herbed oil was killa.

Wow I love this place and am so sorry that the person below had the experience that they did. Too bad....the lobster bisque and chowder are outstanding, served in huge bowls filled with all kinds of fresh seafood and vegetable, superb hand in the seasoning. The BLT and the lobster roll (served in a delicious crusty warm baguette) are some of the best of each that I have ever had. They also serve yummy bread and olive oil to start.....and delicious littel linzer tart cookies to finish. Everything I have ever had there, frankly is truly outstanding, its very unassuming as is a lot of Southampton, but trust me the caliber of the food is fantastic, simple but well done. My aunt had a house nearby and she was the one who started me on it...she has since moved away but says Silvers is one of the few places she really misses! They are closed on Wed. FYI.

As my family of 5 was strolling thru Southampton we passed Silver's and thought we'd stop in for lunch. We were seated quickly. The waiter gave us two menus (I guess we were supposed to share). We ordered drinks...two ice teas and two light beers. The waiter delivered 1 glass of ice tea and the beers. Upon reviewing the menu I noticed there was nothing that would appeal to a child of 5 years. I asked if they offered a children's menu. "NO". I asked if the chef could make my daughter a cheese sandwich. The waiter said, "well, I'll ask but he always gets mad at me when I ask him for something off menu". The waiter went off to the kitchen and a few moments later returned to say "NO the chef wouldn't accomodate us". Infuriating! We left. How stupid for them to refuse such a simple request. I'll admit that the menu looked interesting if way over priced ($34 for a lobster roll!) but the place has an over inflated opinion of itself. I wouldn't set foot in this place again if you paid me.

Can't say enough about this favorite, this community is so lucky to have this place we came here for years today we return there today it was Potato Leak and Lobster Bisque are incredible chunks of lobster flavor is savory. There bread omg isn't this the best

  • Michael A.

Really delicious food. Old school family owned. All in the plus category but let's cut to the chase. The prices are OBSCENE!!! Even for Los Angeles, NYC, Tokyo for Gods sake a $ 48.00 lobster roll. Hahahahahaha

  • yami h.

I returned here only because my friend insisted that we eat here (she imagines that the owners are her "friends") . We sat on rickety chairs in a freezing corner . I paid $24.00 for a bowl of lukewarm lobster bisque with not a bit of lobster in it. Next time I will eat at McDonald's down the road. It is sad , really , that this place fools people into thinking that they are having a Hampton Experience.

    (1)
  • Jeffrey C.

I would NEVER return to this restaurant. The food could hardly be be considered adequate and by no means justified the ridiculous prices. The $41 lobster roll was less tasteful than a road side lobster roll for $12 in Cape Cod. The service was by far some of the worse I have ever experienced. If I could give less than one star I would. Do not go here, you're better off at a greasy diner.

    (1)
  • Priscilla T.

The food wasn't half bad and some of it was tasty I'll admit... However, the service was unbelievably bad. We waited 45 minutes between apps and mains and when we inquired on the ETA we were told that "lamb burgers take a long time." I don't know about you but I think I could slaughter a lamb, grind it up, and grill it in 45 minutes. In any case, that would have been passed over had it not been for the management mishandling of our complaint. The waitress at first refused to get the manager, and once the manager did come over, he was totally unapologetic and said "Well, you have your food now. So it's fine. Everything is fine, right?" *MAYJAH attitude* The table next to us never got their lamb burger. They paid and left exasperated. And it's overpriced.

  • Courtney S.

This place had decent food however the waitstaff was by far the worst I have ever experienced. We waited 15 minutes for menus, asked for water too many times to count and got two bottles, asked for steak sauce and the guy left and never came back when we flagged him down he said oh we don't have any. They were grumpy and snotty and overall not who you want serving you food. If the service was better we would say check it out, but I don't think I can recommend such an establishment with such appalling service. FYI they say they close at 4, but won't seat you past 3:30, and most of the staff leaves at 4 on the dot, not the way to run a restaurant if you ask me.

  • Camielle M.

We came through the south hamptons on vacation to experience a good lobster roll and came across this place. The food was good but the prices were insane for just sandwhiches and soup. The one star is mostly for the service. It was the worst I've ever had. We waited forever for anyone to get our order and it seemed that if you weren't anyone special or a local then you got served last. Never coming back and this restaraunt made our Hampton experience horrible.

Love this place but the prices are through the freaking roof! BLT is now $21 bucks. A lobster roll sandwich is $48 bucks. Great food but they are just too darn expensive. Better food at better prices not to far away. Good luck Silver's. Love you guys, anyway!

    (4)
  • Lauren M.

It's hard to get excited about sandwiches, but that's what Silver's does. My husband ordered the BLT, which he says is the best he has ever had, and I had the Roman, one of the tastiest sandwiches I've had. I wasn't super hungry but felt the need to eat this massive sandwich. We were able to sit right in front of the window in a cozy nook. Staff was attentive. Only downside to this place is it's very pricey - knock down the prices a bit and this place would be a hit!

Bring your wallet! But it's worth it! Feels like you're in the south of France:) Lunch only.

Hands down the best lunch in all the Hamptons. The owner does all the food selection and cooking himself and is the third generation to own the business. The crowd always included the rich, powerful and famous. A great place at every level.

    (5)
  • Dani S.

WAY over priced. $30 for a salad? Please. The food is fine, just not worth it for the price or ambiance.

One of the best lunches I've ever had in Long Island. Period. My suggestion is to get there for a late lunch just before they close, in the 1pm to 1:30pm time slot. The place isn't big and is very popular, so I can imagine long waits during peak hours. If you love fresh, thick chunks of lobster meat in a creamy (but not heavy) flavorful soup, then the lobster bisque is for you my friend. Slop it up with their baguette, which is brushed with olive oil, garlic, parsley and sea salt. One bowl is enough for an entire meal. Is your mouth watering yet? Dessert? Of course. While the pecan tart looked small, two of us had a hard time finishing it. It was accompanied with a very rich caramel sauce, whole pecans and big dollop of fresh whipped cream on the side. Stop drooling on your keyboard. It's hard to clean saliva from in between the keys. Service was extremely attentive during our visit. Prices are steep, but you get what you pay for - which is excellent food. PS - It rolls old school in here, so no cell phones. You'll just have to make your friends jealous later with a Yelp review.

We were the only party there for the first half of our meal at 11 am. Bad: The bread was way too salty even without the oil underneath. Good: Service was great and friendly. Bad: Menu is very expensive Good: The options look worthy of such a price (it depends though - $34 for lobster roll, $39 for lobster cobb). SO had the sirloin burger. The bun under eventually got soggy from the salad it was placed on, but it was still all delicious when eaten with a fork and knife. Bad: My lobster bisque had anything but chunks of lobster. Yes, there was lobster, but I think six sips took care of them. It was a little watery, too. Still tasty. Good: It's close to a lot of shops, galleries and other things to do, so if you happen to be walking with a thick wallet and hungry on Main Street, it's still a great choice.

My favorite lunch anywhere is Clam Chowder and a BLT at Silvers. My wife loves their Crabcakes. We are always treated nicely by the staff and the owner comes over to say hello. If I have to wait on line sometimes, it is a small price to pay for the great food.

I probably would give this place a one star, but the food was decent (after the chef begrudgingly sent us a new duck confit). I came to Silver's during a thanksgiving weekend shopping day with two others that have been to this restaurant many times before. One of my friends ordered the duck confit salad (her favorite dish here). The other ordered soup and I got the BLT. Things were looking good, the soup was good (can't remember what was ordered) and the BLT was... well a BLT, nothing special. The duck was overcooked. We sent it back (it is 30 dollars, so the meat should fall off the bone, like duck is meant to, right?). I will cut to the chase, after dealing with a completely incompetent waiter (either it was his first day or he was "slow") the chef came out and personally made sure that my friend felt like she didn't know a thing about duck, food or manners and that she should be happy with what she got. She explained (very nicely) to the chef that she has been to Silvers many times, always orders the duck confit salad and has never had a problem with it... and for those reasons, she would like a new one. He begrudgingly cooked a new one... which took an extraordinarily long time... While we waiting, the chef came to out table two more times to insult my friend very underhandedly. I hope he was just having a bad day, but I have never felt this bullied since I was in the 5th grade. I have heard the food was good, but sir, take care to not treat people with such disrespect. You lost a few good customers and their entire family... black card in tow.

So I'm told, this is very typical Hamptons type place. For Lunch, expect to spend anywhere between 40 - 60 pp. The food was decent. I had the Long Island Duck Confit salad. Duck was well cooked but it was a pricey salad. Since we had a large party, it took a while to sit but they were accommodating. At no fault to the restaurant, but while we were waiting outside, a "local" would ask me Where we were from. I told her NYC....And she said no no..."Where" are you from? Chinese? Japanese? I was going to say America but why encourage the ignorant. So food was okay but nothing that really stood out.

Be prepared to wait with no attention. We arrived a 2pm and walked out at 330pm on a weekday. Food was good but over priced. Service was below average and note that party's of 4 or more automatically are charged 20% tip (no incentive). Bloody Mary and crab cakes are a must.

Really delicious food. Old school family owned. All in the plus category but let's cut to the chase. The prices are OBSCENE!!! Even for Los Angeles, NYC, Tokyo for Gods sake a $ 48.00 lobster roll. Hahahahahaha

We arrived late. There were no customers. The food was not great. The service really poor. They took forever to even bring the salt

Love this place but the prices are through the freaking roof! BLT is now $21 bucks. A lobster roll sandwich is $48 bucks. Great food but they are just too darn expensive. Better food at better prices not to far away. Good luck Silver's. Love you guys, anyway!
