I love Bareburger!!! This is our go to place whenever the bf is about to go out of town. The variety of patties is awesome and I've never had a bad burger here. I especially love the fried pickle chips which you can still get even though they're not on the menu anymore. If you want great service you should ask to sit in Noel's section.

Love bareburger. Always a good choice - got the Black Bean burger (Guadalupe) with fries and a 34oz Sierra Nevada. Our server (Angel) was the best!. Will definitely be back.

Gotta admit I am a pretty big fan of bareburger. It might not be the best burger around, but its definitely a solid option and quite tasty. Defintely recommend trying everything on the menu.

Awful experience...contradicts the assumption that as a chain(let) expands, it gets more efficient. Took 15+ minutes of run-arounds and cluelessness from 6 separate staffers in the store and multiple phone calls (most with no answer on the other end) to be told they don't take Belly at this location (they didn't even know what it was and the manager made a lame stomach joke about her ignorance of the company's new loyalty program).

Angel out server was the best. Took very good care of us. Made very good reccomendations..I really enjoyed the blue elk..cooked perfectly. Would come back again.

Went here for lunch during the week. I ordered the Brisket Burger which tasted good, albeit not as good as a Shack Burger. The problems started when I finished my meal. I only ordered a burger (about the size of my fist, doesn't come with fries) and a soda. Cost me $20, almost double what I normally pay for lunch. I would have still been hungry, but my stomach had a hard time digesting all the fat so I didn't eat anything else. By the time I got home around 8pm, I was feeling very sick. Now I can't say it was BB for sure, but the chances are good since I hadn't eaten any other meat in 24 hrs. I was sick for 3 days. Even if it wasn't BB that made me sick, the cost vs taste weren't great either. Two stars.

You've got to support places that offer organic/grass-fed/humanely raised food. I wish we could get rid of every gross burger joint and replace them with a Bareburger-type restaurant. I went there kind of in a rush late lunch mode, but I still appreciated every moment. Our server Nina was one cool chick, very friendly and efficient. The sweet potato fries are the best I've had in the city actually and they are delicious with the smokey sauce they give you. The location is very cute, it made me feel like a kid again. Extra points for the gluten free bun, it was excellent!!! And their crispy bacon is thick and delicious. Yum.

Today was one of those days where me and my gal wanted milkshakes. I called Bareburger to make an order for delivery and was instantly helped. the staff there seems nice. Both roger and Jocelyn were very helpful. I'm definitely calling again and I definelty recommend their milkshakes to anyone.

The food was truly excellent! Delicious turkey burger and vanilla milkshake. However the service was terrible. We were seated around 3pm on a Saturday and it took 15mins before anyone came to our table. The server was either incredibly distracted or very apathetic. It was nearly impossible to get her attention - which isn't so much to ask for from a server. Truly disappointing.

Food is soooo good here. Nice and healthy. You never leave hungry. It's a cool small place to have lunch and a great burger. Everything is soooo good. Yes they have more than just burgers and fries

They take such good care of me here. Fabulous and attentive service. I feel at home here. And Look for Noel who is one of the waiters. He is a class act. Highly recommend this branch.

Love me some Bareburger! Angel was our server and he was wonderful! He was quite attentive and very prompt. The turkey burger wrapped in collard greens was fantastic, especially with the guacamole and buffalo sauce. So good!

I've been to two other Bareburger restaurants one in the Manhattan and the other in Forest Hills Queens. I've never been to the one in Chelsea and I will not return to this location. First off, we made reservations and someone else was given our seats. They quickly resolved the issue but it was a weird and uncomfortable situation where the other women had to switch tables for my large group. Secondly, I was unaware that certain Bareburger locations do not serve brunch. My friends and I were looking to have eggs, French toast , bacon etc but was told this location does not serve brunch and they also do not have a liquor license yet. So we were stuck with ordering burgers and beers. I'm still craving eggs and its 10 hrs later. Do not order the brisket burger. Both buns were burnt and the chicken was dry. I didn't finish my meal for two reasons: 1- the French fries were brought out before the burgers so my friends and I filled up on fries and 2- the chicken was not moist, and the brisket was tough. I wished I ordered something else. The staff was friendly but that doesn't make up for the non-brunch menu and dry chicken. I will end this review on a positive note, you must try The fried pickles here. They were fried to perfection with a touch of spice. That's one thing I enjoyed here.

The burguers are amazing but my favorite thing was the staff. Since we arrived, the hostess was very sweet and gave us a table very quick. Our server Angel was amazing and helped us out with our order very fast and answer to questions in a very proffesional way, he made us feel very comfortable and gave us suggestions to order. The manager was also checking on the customers and people looked happy and comfortable with the service. The busboys were also friendly. I think that this is one of those places that helps me not to feel guilty for eating a hamburger. The food quality is amazing and I like all the combinations they have and that you can build your burguer with plenty of things. I recommen this place and specialy this location if you want to have a pleasant lunch or dinner.

  • Maria P.

The hostess was really sweet and accommodating. There was only a 15 min wait for Sunday night. The hostess also let us switch tables since we were getting a draft from the door. The food came out quick. The servers could be a bit more attentive. I had the classic beef burger on the multi grain whole wheat roll with onion rings and fries on the side. Everything tasted great!!

The food was delicious, from the burgers to the salads. Our server Angel was polite, attentive and fun.

  • Matt K.

Had the best experience at Bareburger. Angel was our waiter and he was the best! That's the kind of employee that should get promoted. As for the burger, I got the bison. So good. While eating the burger, I could see the bison standing in a field, surrounded by a ring of fire. It looked into my eyes, and with them seemed to say "I hope it's worth it." If it were really here, or I were really there, I would tell it "Yes, it was."

Food was the bomb dot com. Noel is a straight up boss! One of the best servers I've ever met. Master service. 10/10 my new spot.

The burger was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary and the shake I hated it maybe because it said it was organic and vegan but it really did not do me any good overall the burger was tasty

    (3)
  • Lena H.

I was disappointed. I'm definitely a burger lover and the good reviews on here got me all hyped up for this place. While my burger wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. In addition, the burgers were fairly small. Even with fries and onion rings, the size of the meal was humble. The fact that we had waited a long time to get a table and the service was pretty slow didn't help either. Overall, not worth it.

  • Ashlie M.

Over priced over priced over priced . But the food is good. Idk I am not really into all of the exotic meat choices , but I do like the servings of beer you can get . My husband loves this place for the ostrich and bison burger but I think it's over priced for a regular burger . If your not going to try all the fun stuff they have to offer I don't think this a burger joint for you.

Good burgers. The service here is great-attentive but not crazy. Angel is hilarious-and proudly "anal retentive". With him (and Kaitlyn) you're in good hands.

On June 21 I had the opportunity to walk down to Chelsea to the BareBurger to try out this location. This location is in a neighborhood where it appeared to me to be out of place. Although employees were knowledgeable, my order was incorrect causing much delay getting my fries. The meat did not have the juicy seasoned taste I came to expect. I was disappointed after a long anticipated walk down and across town. I decided to have desert elsewhere this day. Unless I need to be in this neighborhood for other reasons, I will not make the effort to eat at thisBB location again. A few blocks away there are other food choices that I'm sure give them competition! The three stars are for knowledge of menu, restaurant cleanliness, and atmosphere.

Got the el madador burger with beef and it was really good! I also got the vanilla, raspberry, banana shake which was soo delicious. We also got a plate of rings and fries for the table which was really good but a lot too. It came with 4 dipping sauces which were delicious. Our waiter Angel was super nice and he was really friendly. He made sure that we were taken care of!

Had a great time at this Bareburger location. Five of us were seated instantly at dinner time on a Friday evening and got great service from Angel the whole time. I wound up getting a bison burger and a six point that paired quite well. So many options to mix and match, but it was not overwhelming, and more than enough beer and other drink options. Will definitely keep this on my radar when I'm in the area.

Bareburger is a great place for a vegan and a carnivore to eat together. The menu clearly labels items "V" (as well as "GF" for gluten-free and "N" for nuts). The vegan options are really tasty and not just an afterthought. I tried the Toasted Asian Salad topped with a grilled marinated portabella--delicious! The small salad size was just right for lunch. The restaurant is open to the street in nice weather. It's very loud with music, talking, traffic and even the 8th Avenue subway. I think it's great for a quick meal but not a long relaxing conversation.

I had the Bison burger wrapped in collard greens (along with many other delicious toppings including DUCK BACON!!) and it was absolutely delicious. Our server, Angel, was lovely and very attentive. I will definitely be back!

Brought my friend here who was visiting from out of town. This was the first time I've ever eaten at a Bareburger, I usually order online. We ordered the apple walnut salad and the panko crusted chicken fingers to start. Let me just say, I don't eat salads and my friend made me order and eat it as it was technically my first salad ever. I did not like the chicken fingers at all, there's no particular reason, I just thought they were gross. For burgers, I ordered the original burger with fries and my friend had ordered the lamb burger. For some reason the food here wasn't as good as when I order it online from the East Village location. It was kind of busy and I had to keep looking for our waiter so that we could ask for the check. Later that night my friend started feeling really sick which followed him through the next two days. The lamb burger was the most recent thing he had eaten that day so we figured it must have been the lamb burger.

Love this location! This is my favorite Bareburger by far. I feel equally comfortable coming in here alone to relax and grab a quick meal before heading to perform in a show as I do bringing in a large group of friends. I know that either way the experience will be great and I'll be well taken care of. Food is awesome! I HIGHLY recommend the chicken tenders!!!!! Angel is one of the kindest people and a fantastic server. He really goes above and beyond to deliver quality service. This makes a huge difference when I'm deciding where to go for a bite!

The brunch was absolutely delicious! The thick cuts of bacon were flavorful, the eggs perfectly sunny side up, and the sweet potato wedges satisfying. Angel is a warm and lovely server, and immediately made myself and my roommate feel welcomed and taken care of. This was my first Bareburger experience and I shall return for more noms!

Went here and got a bison burger, sweet potato fries, and my friend got rings. The burger was incredible, the fries were good, and Angel is the nicest dude ever. Recommend this place if you're live in NYC and want good burgers.

My friend and I came here for lunch and loved it! Our waiter Angel was lovely and very attentive. We decided on the Guadalupe burger (vegan!) and my friend built her own burger, which is a great feature to have in a restaurant. We also shared a mixture of the normal and sweet potato fries which came with multiple delicious sauces. Bareburger has so many options no matter what your preferences or dietary restrictions are. We will definitely be back soon!

Bareburger is always great. Supreme burger and sweet fries were everything. But what I really came here to talk about is the service. Angel was the ultimate server. Went well above and beyond to take care of everything we needed before we even knew we needed it. Come here. Ask for Angel. You won't regret it.

Really good food! The quality and the flavor of the food here is excellent and also organic so they come from good sources. A lovely incarnation of the franchise; creative decor, friendly staff, well prepared high quality food. I had the pleasure of dealing with a young server, Noel. He brought an authentic warmth that's not to be taken for granted in NYC. Felt good to be there.

Bareburger is one of the best places in the city to get a burger! Awesome ingredients and a big range of burgers/toppings - my girlfriend always goes super healthy and I can get bacon galore. Our server last time was Angel and he was so friendly and efficient. Cant rave enough about bareburger, you should just go there now.

I can no longer live without Bareburger! The food is just so fresh, and I can enjoy beef, elk, and bison (a must-try) without the overwhelming "Food Inc"-induced guilt. The gluten-free buns and friend onions (Chickpea Onions) are a godsend. Oh, and the staff are incredible, too -- shoutouts to Danielle and Katelin! They make Bareburger feel like a second home for us regulars.

Our server angel was nice and quick. I didn't notice my burger bun had sunflower seed which I can't eat, and they brought me a new bun quickly. Recommend fully and A+ service.

Road weary travelers from way south - Bareburger was highly recommended and boy were they right. Great space, knowledgable service and one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Cold local draft beer and an array of sauces for the mountain of crisp fries. Curried ketchup was awesome. Highly recommend the Big Blue Bacon and the Western burger. Especially pleased with a really competent server who walked us through the menu and offered suggestions that were really helpful. Wish we didn't live so far away !

This was my second Bareburger experience and unfortunately it did not stack up to the Murray Hill location. I like the menu set up where you can build your own or go with the restaurant suggestions and the concept of natural/local/organic ingredients is awesome. This is well executed in Murray Hill, in Chelsea, not so much. My boyfriend and I started out with sweet potato fries which were pretty bland. Luckily they came with some tasty sauces (curry ketchup, special sauce aka mustard+ketchup+mayo and buttermilk ranch) to add a kick of flavor. I ordered a bison burger medium and it came out close to well done--barely a hint of pink to be seen. My boyfriend's burger was also over cooked. It really irks me to get over cooked meat--why bother asking me how I want it prepared if you can't deliver?? Anyways, if you are looking for a good Bareburger spot, go to Murray Hill--Chelsea has better places to offer than this one!

Bareburger is consistently amazing, but this is my favorite location. The service here is excellent. On this visit our server Angel was so accommodating. We had a ton of questions about gluten free items and he patiently answered all of them. We can't wait to come back!

Amazing I got the sweet potato kale burger and that shit was amazing! You would think that it would be disgusting because it's vegetables but it is amazing! Our server Angel was amazing he's awesome and made our meal very fun. Super attentive and professional dude. Yo the onion rings are the shit! Also to see potato fries.

I decided to give Bareburger a second try, after a mediocre experience at the Forest Hills location. I tried a different combination and decided to get an "unconventional" burger.. lol one without a bun. I guess it's pretty counter-intuitive if I'm rating bareburger higher from...not even eating a burger here this time. I got the supreme with the fried chicken and on the lettuce bed (hahaha i know)...The supreme flavors actually mixed well and the onions were really good. Although I kinda wished it wouldn't fall apart right went I bit into them. The chicken was so moist and amazing!!! yum-o.

I love Bareburger! Such a simple yet clever idea for an organic burger joint. This location in particular can be busy at times but it's in a great area. The hostess Jada is super nice and always helpful. She kept me company while I waited for a friend to arrive.

4 stars because I much prefer to eat grassfed beef and organic foods-- and all in all, the food while not the MOST delicious I have had, is good, satisfying, healthy and a great neighborhood go to. And, I will definitely return. However, the 4 stars are reluctantly granted because they never can get the meat temperature right. If you order Medium, it sometimes is Medium/Rare, sometimes its Well done. I have ordered Medium/Rare and gotten Rare. This seems to be a consistent problem at all their locations. Pretty essential if burgers are your specialty!

First time coming here and I'm proud to say I'm not disappointed . The food great, environment awesome , the place is small for comfort given its busy business but it's a real great place to dine in for burgers in the city . Saturday night was pretty busy and for a table of 4 it took about 20 minutes which is not bad but there isn't a place to wait so your stuck there standing in front of tables which can be inconvenient for you and the people eating . Everything in this place is deemed organic. From the drinks to the food everything is all natural . The burgers are delicious , I had the brisket burger, which is just a beef burger with brisket on top and their special sauce which tastes incredible . Their beef is juicy and well done so it's worth every penny. They have tons of options and combos to do (beef, chicken , ostrich, elk) to make your burger and you can make it to your hearts content . The waiters here are really nice abs are extreme fast and persistent . Don't be alarmed if you see your waiter using a phone in front of you, that's how they take your orders! Overall the food is amazing , really amazing burgers ( on par or better than smash burger , shake shack , or five guys ). The service is excellent and despite the uncomfortable waiting room but everything that this place has to offer is great and shall definitely be a place to come back to try their other burgers.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BAREBURGER?? I used to absolutely LOVE Bareburger with my whole heart. My favorite burger was the Habenero Express on a gluten free tapioca bun and whenever I felt like I deserved to eat something perfectly delicious for gluten free me, this is what I'd order. Today, I was thoroughly disappointed to find out that Bareburger has a completely new menu. How is it possible that the ENTIRE menu is different? You may as well change the name of the restaurant, because this was NOT the Bareburger that I know and love. My dearest Habenero Express was gone. My gluten free tapioca bun (a bun that actually tastes like a real, delicious bun!!) was replaced with a hemp milk bun (which was dry like every other awful gluten free bun out there). So I ask you Bareburger, WHY would you do this? Why change something so delicious? And why keep the name Bareburger when you are clearly an imposter! I sincerely hope you did not change the menu at every location, as this would be an awful move on your part. Not to mention sad. Please bring back the old menu and I will gladly change this rating back to the 5 plus stars I always had for you in my heart.

My girlfriend and I have lived in the neighborhood for a few months and wanted to try a place we hadn't been to before. Bareburger was just that place. It's a nice casual atmosphere and it seems like the staff really enjoys working there based on how attentive and friendly everyone was. My girlfriend has a severe gluten allergy, and our server Robert was able to help her order avoiding all of the gluten. I tried Duck for the first time as per his suggestion, and I really enjoyed it. The duck burger I had was one of their signature burgers called the fire cracker and I'll definitely be ordering it again. Five thumbs up.

Great food and service. Wanted to try a new place in Chelsea and was blown away by the place. Our server Noel was awesome and very helpful. He had some great recommendations that we ended up ordering and it turned out perfect. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new burger place, service was great!

This place is in a word is amazing. I have a bucket load of food allergies and I can stuff my face with a Burger, fries or a salad the size of my head with no problems! They are so kind and accommodating every time I go. I'm allergic to gluten dairy soy nuts peanuts tree nuts and sesame and I feel practically normal here. They use non gmo canola oil here which is so rare and so important. I can even have the mayo based sauces here- their special sauce btw is ridiculously good! They serve tapioca rice buns for their burgers as a gf option as well as daiya cheddar cheese which is allergen free as well. I come here on a weekly basis because they are also open super late! Some nights the kitchen closes at midnight!

LOVE bareburger. I remember when their first location in Manhattan opened downtown. The chelsea location is my favorite. I love that they use quality ingredients and have an amazing menu that has something for everyone! Very affordable too. Their burgers are delicious but do not overlook the buffalo chicken sandwich, baby farmer salad and milkshakes! Love that they are expanding. I am rooting for you Bareburger!

I had the County Fair burger cooked medium rare, it was THE BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Our server Angel was better than perfect. Bareburger rules!

  • Cathy H.

I tried their Western style burger with bison and their sweet potato crisps. The burger was very good but I did not really taste a difference between the bison meat and a regular hamburger. The sweet potato crisps were delicious and comes with a great honey mustard sauce. I did not get a milk shake here and I regretted it so much. My friend got one and I tried a bit of hers and it was very fresh and delicious. They also leave the shaker so it is almost like getting two shakes in one order.

The vegetarian burgers here are amazing (I highly recommend the quinoa burger) and server Angel is fantastic!

I built my own burger and it was perfect. I had the standard beef, but others at my table had bison and wild boar and reported that they were excellent as well. My friend was blown away by his Mauie Wowie burger. Our server, Tom, was an absolute delight and we were presented with every dipping sauce a person could hope for for our delicious fried pickles. Great food and even better service, and for New York the prices were very reasonable.

Underwhelming and insanely expensive for what you get, but will give it another shot in the future. The waitstaff are dressed like "hipsters" i believe. Not much experience with that group so... *shrugs* Also with chill yet distant attitudes. My waitress actually didn't bother to tell me she was getting ready to end her shift in the middle of my meal...causing me to almost miss my train home from work on a Saturday. She seated me at a communal table... "this is where we sit singles." Some male NYU students were hanging out there having a grand old time discussing their classes. Too bad this is a restaurant and not the student union and I've been out of college for 5 years. The decor is cute. Farming and bear-related photos and art abound. The service was somewhat friendly but sooo slow. And the prices are very deceptive...every little thing is extra and even the specials get crazy pricey if you want more than just beef. I got the maui wowie burger with wild boar and fries. She never asked how I wanted it cooked. I also ordered a blueberry soda. She asked about if i had a gluten allergy since I wanted the gluten free bun and I said no, just intolerant. I declined her offer to put my onion rings on the side. She ran away and I barely saw her after that. The soda was delicious and actually the best part of the meal...almost grapelike yet berry-y. The burger came out and I was all ready for a sexy slab of wild piggie on my epic gulten free bun. Instead I got a patty somewhere between a slider and little cheeseburger from five guys in size. It was overcooked and tough too. It tasted like sausage. Not a fan. And the onion rings were on the side. They made sure everything was ok as to my gluten issues...but when I needed to pay I got stuck there as my waitress booked it. The fries were fries. Not special. Not worth it. The whole meal was over 20 bucks. Insane. And the service was not great...besides asking if my glutenfreeness was ok, I was forgotten at my corner of this random communal table. I want to give the chain another shot. There are many locations, including one near my boyfriend, and there are a million choices. I want to try their beef, elk, and maybe bison, plus a shake. They also really care about ypur dietary restrictions. Dont know about this location though.

Burger was cooked perfectly. I didn't enjoy the sauces they provided and chose regular good ole Heinz ketchup. The panko pickles were odd, as was the peanut butter chocolate banana shake. The coffee was nice size and better than Starbucks for only $2. Altogether it was kind of expensive for hamburgers at $56 for two. We also shared the sweet potato/ onion rings which were soggy and burnt?

This place is heavenly. I can't emphasize how much I enjoy their food. Their burgers and sandwiches are flavorful, filling and really reasonably priced. Try the onion rings I really recommend !!!!! I will definitely visit this bareburger with my family again

My current favorite burger chain in NYC. Each location is a bit different in decoration, and obviously service varies greatly from location to location and time of day/night. Food wise I can have anything happily off the menu besides a veggie burger. All the meat is high quality, and I've never left feeling anything but good... Generally a good sign of quality produce. I've enjoyed the elk, bison, and some other abnormal meat option before and all are great. Do share the fries or whatever fried side order you may consider getting with your burger... No one should eat alone in NYC anyway.

People. You probably didn't know that there is an ostrich shortage in America right now. Don't be ashamed. I didn't know either, until the server at Bareburger told me. Okay, so an ostrich burger was out. I ordered bison as a runner up, which ended up being one of the better decisions of the night. I had it with Amish blue cheese and bacon marmalade. Some fries. And a housemade root beer. Awesome. My gal pal had a quinoa burger, which she said was absolutely delicious. I took her word for it. The drinks arrived long after our food, but the burger was so damn good, we let it slide(r).

Phone order for 9 people, on time delivery, reasonable pricing. Now about my burger, brioche bun, beef med-rare, egg, thick cut bacon, smoked mozzarella, lettuce and tomato, with ketchup n mayo. Nice side portion of fries n rings. I was pleasantly surprised how good my burger was, nice job on the medium rare, and the blending of the flavors. Definitely trying the wild game and vegetarian options next time, probably Monday.

I'll start with my daughters meal. Have you ever ordered the cubby meal off the children's menu? Don't. You get a small piece of meat (which is fine) but this looked like it had been eaten on the sides and then they give you a huge piece of bread. Why would kids need to eat that much bread? Posting photo. Took them a long time to get my order. Poor sweet guy on phone, it was so loud he couldn't hear me at all. They forgot the dressing that I asked for. Oh and my daughter's burger was burnt. I won't go into mine but I think this gives you an idea of what you might get. I will add my hubby likes their chicken sandwich but now that they've taken turkey bacon off the menu he might change his mind. He doesn't eat regular bacon.

While I was gaybar crawling it up with the queens, we got hungry. Since we like to look sweet in tight tight shorts, we needed a healthy meal to keep it hella tight. We saw Elk, Ostrich, Boar, ORGANIC burgers on the menu...yesss please. Building your burger was fun, and they have reco's for each style of prep/sauce. The only thing that roughed up our figures, was the fries and O-rings...way too much. Spot has wine/draught beers...its a legit resto. AND...you can watch all the menses in tank tops walk by, that aren't as fierce (f-ear-sssssss) as you are.

Had SUCH a good burger here! I'm gluten free so it's hard to find a good burger, but bareburger did not disappoint! Angel was our server and he was amazing, he put up with my incessant demand for fries (and my request to lower the fan) like an angel :)

  • Daniel S.

I had high expectations and wasn't disappointed with the quality of the food or the spectacular options available. After a 15 minute wait we got a table and the service was prompt. Food was of course delicious. The only thing that got to me was after we were finished eating our waiter had disappeared. We waited around and another server finally came over to ask if we needed anything. That server then gave us a to go box and handled our check. Our original waiter was at first very prompt and knew what he was doing. If he hadn't vanished for 15 minutes, this review would have easily been a 5/5. It just dampened the whole experience. My Elk burger was amazing though! And so were the fries. I hadn't mentioned that they also have Sir Kensington Ketchup bottles on every table?!! Best ketchup you can buy!

This place is amazing! I usually hate burgers but I must say they changed my mind! I'm in love with my turkey burger this place is a must! I can't wait for my next visit and our waiter Angel was so welcoming and kind he took time to actually care about what your gonna eat and explained everything for me and cared what I liked/disliked he's amazing!

This is the first of many Bareburger locations I've been to. I'd heard of the chain before, but just happened upon this location with my boyfriend. We went in & had an exceptionally delicious meal! Our server was very friendly, the selection of the menu is amazing, and the vegan/vegetarian options are far tastier than I expected. As far as prices, you'll spend about the same at other burger joints, but I'm always happy to support a place that offers so many organic choices.

  • Bee C.

Thank you for having gluten free options and not making me feel like a jerk for asking. Their hemp milk buns don't have that crumbly gluten free taste-they're good! They even cooked the fries in a gluten free fryer. Also, thank you for inventing chickpea onions. They're deliciously crispy onions in chickpea flour.

I love Bareburger, and this was my first time at this location. I'm really never disappointed by their food, and this time was no exception. I wasn't in the mood for anything crazy so I ordered the country bacon burger with a side of fries. Cooked exactly how I wanted it and it was delicious, as usual. My friend had the western burger, which looked amazing and came with crusted pickles. She really enjoyed it, and I wish I had tried it. Service at this location is really great... our waitress could probably tell that we had been out all night because she brought us over extra bottles of water (thanks for that!). Prices are great for the quality of food. You really can't go wrong with Bareburger and I'll definitely stop in at this location again!

This is hands down the BEST burger place I've ever been to. All organic ingredients. Great choices of beef, elk, Buffalo. The onion rings are my favorite and the best I've ever had!

Really great burger joint with a lot of options. You can choose almost everything from the bun to the patty meat. I decided to be daring and got the California burger with bison. SO GOOD. Obviously I got fries too. I love that the condiments are served in empty honey bear containers.

I've been a fan of the Bareburger chain, namely patronizing their 73rd and 1st location only because it's in such close proximity to my Upper East Side office. Same great burgers (though my medium-rare California was cooked a little TOO rare), amazing French fries, top notch chocolate shake (with chocolate chunks in it!) and it wasn't nearly as crowded, both space and people-wise as my usual location. Sad they didn't have Crabbie's on the beer menu though. *sigh* The homemade sarsaparilla made up for it. Haaa.

After otherwise very great experiences, my friends and I had a very upsetting experience where we were waiting for our 6th person to arrive. Then a table of 3 sat down at one of the large booths, where a fourth person sat at the table 10 minutes later. When we asked the hostess about this, she said she thought they were 3 people, but she had put down 4 menus, so it appears that she was lying to us. We left and had very good burgers across the street. Please be more considerate of our potential customers.

I had the Smokehouse Portabella and it was very, VERY tasty and juicy. I don't know how healthy or organic these burgers may be, but they do claim to be organic, and they are just as good or better as any of those shitty burgers you can buy elsewhere. Prices are decent considering the organic ingredients. Definitely would go again!

I ordered from BareBurger a couple of months ago, my food never arrived. The manager called me back to offer me a free meal in the future. When I used that offer, my food never showed up. Other BareBurgers are fine, but I would not recommend this one.

This burger was fan-effing-tastic! I came in a little before 11 and it was pretty open. Sat down and I decided to make my own burger. I got a boar patty, brioche bun, duck bacon (amazing!), gouda cheese, pickled jalapeños, stout onions (basically grilled onions), and paprika mayo. It was SO good!!! I wish I lived here so that I could come here more often! It was so perfect and fresh and I can't even think of any more adjectives. Just know it was good. Be aware that you don't get fries with it, but they aren't needed. After finishing I asked my server Angel for a shake to go and he told me that they weren't making shakes anymore, but he asked his coworker and they said I could get one! I got the banana foster one! So bomb ! Can't wait to come here again. Angel was so nice and attentive and we talked for a little bit. Hope I can get him as a server in the future. Oh, and they leave a water jug at your table but they refill it whenever it even gets close to half empty. I wish they were 24 hours or at least open later on the weekends but I'll take what I can get!

I love the medium rare bison burger wrapped in a steamed collard green with all the tasty add-ons and love that they serve decent wine and have interesting sides. I love that it is all organic. I go here about once a week and the staff is always just the right amount of friendly and capable. Angel was my server last Sunday and he was great!

Terrible experience. Our poor waiter was "under pressure from the manager to turn tables" - it wasn't the waiter's fault!! We were so rushed. We had not even been there for 45 minutes when our check was handed to us. Still full glasses of wine. (PS we were spending- apps and entree's and drinks for our entire group of 3) - and there was no wait at the restaurant (there was even an empty booth in the front!!!). We sent the check back claiming we were still working, and would like to see dessert menus. We ordered dessert. It was literally thrown to us IN A DOGGY BAG, along with a second copy of the check. We ask if they typically serve desserts "to go" instead of plated? Our waiter replied no- but that they needed the table back. IT HADNT EVEN BEEN AN HOUR. Asked to speak to the manager who was incredibly rude and condescending to us. FYI- there are many many restaurants in NYC... good service goes a long way. We're taking our business elsewhere.

My co-workers and I decided to order for delivery. The guy over the phone was very helpful and friendly. As well as the delivery man who got our order delivery quickly. Our order consisted of the California burger, habanero, and original with turkey as protein. I had the California burger on multigrain and i have to say for $13 i was expecting flavors bursting out considering it has avocados, and sharp cheddar. Nope! The burger was extremely bland, no taste what so ever. Not even the avocados or sharp cheddar helped. Their service/delivery is good as the presentation of their burgers are as well but their burgers lack major flavor.

I won't go into too much detail because well, its 2:45 in the a to the m and I am too tired but I realized I didn't do this when I should have. My friend and I went in for their lunch special. Two burgers with side orders and a drink. That could be a soda or a beer. Honestly I can't even remember the price I think it was like 12 bucks. Whatever it was, I remember thinking it was sooooo worth it!!!. I am trying to be healthier and I have been avoiding my usual pigging out on crap when Im hungry hungry so I got to be a bit more reasonable without losing out on great tasting food. I got the turkey burger on tapioca rice bread. Yeah the bread was a little dry but that type of bun is ALWAYS dry its gluten free. It was still tasty as ever and enjoyable. The fries were great tasting and my friend got the side salad that was dressed with a grape seed oil dressing. I wish I got the salad instead because omg so great tasting! I ordered a diet soda since I pretty much have taken soda off my list. I asked for a Coke. They don't do coke. They do this organic diet soda thing. (I don't remember the name of the brand) I won't lie. I called bullshit when I tasted it. It was so sweet and so good. I couldn't believe it was diet. It was though. It most certainly was and that was the best tasting diet cola I have ever had! Almost had an anisette/liquorice type of aftertaste. Yum. They have great desserts and I had a milkshake while my friend had a banana fritter dessert which was amazing. We actually wanted the ice cream sandwiches but they didn't have any of them. Yeah, that was unfortunate but you gotta understand something: all their ingredients are locally sourced, organic, and fresh. If the distributor is not ready, they can't get the ingredients. They refuse to lower their quality so if it means not having certain things, I say its worth it for good food. The staff are all hot muffins to stare at and are nice. Not overly nice but it was early. We got to lunch like before 12 and I think they just opened so everyone was getting their bearings. I can respect that. Its a small spot and they only have two booths and the rest are tables. We asked for a booth even though there were only two of us and they obliged but it quickly got crowded and I could tell they wanted us to leave so they could sit bigger parties there. They didn't rush us though at all and were never rude but they eyed us once in a while and I felt bad because we were NOT rushing out of there! The food was too good and we were enjoying our time there. They were super nice when we left and courteous. Will definitely go back!

Had the Hot Honey Chicken sandwich... Which was hot enough without the spicy wasabi coleslaw considering my poor spice tolerance. Definitely recommended. Service was also great. Our server Angel was awesome... Super personable and attentive. A great dinner all around!

Came here on nov. 9th (sunday) with my boyfriend. Actually found this place on yelp & I'm glad I did! We were both craving burgers but I'm vegetarian so finding an amazing veggie burger can be difficult. To my amazement they had an awesome selection! You could pick a black bean patty, quinoa patty, or portobello patty. I ordered the habanero burger, with the black bean patty. My boyfriend ordered the same burger, habanero, but with an elk patty instead. The curry ketchup that they give you with you fries is absolutely epic. Whoever came up with that genius ideo, deserves a medal! Everything about the burger was perfect.

Where do I start?! I had the best peanut butter, chocolate and banana milk shake I have ever had and one of the juciest and delicious burgers I've ever had. I was so excited to find this place and their unique meat options. I had the elk burger, which was cooked to perfection and dripping with deliciousness. I can't wait to try the ostrich next season and the boar!

The food is great. Tried the bison which is amazing. You can taste the clean organic flavor. I also had the quinoa party California style which was delicious. The place is cozy and the server was nice and always checked in to make sure everything was good. Would definitely come back.

Bareburger has food more local than your nearest Starbucks, meat fresher than a snotty teenager, and more permutations of burgers than combos on your gym lock. With choosing your protein, bun, and toppings (pre-set combinations include unique ones like the Maui Wowie with pineapple, turkey bacon, and red piquante peppers and classic ones like the Original with colby jack, lettuce, tomato, raw onions, and special sauce), you can get anything your meat-eating heart desires here. I personally love the bison, which is leaner than beef and satisfyingly meaty. The fried pickles and zucchini sticks have a very thick layer of panko seasoning on them, which may or may not be your thing. The sweet potato croqs are a little too heavy for me. Given this, I think they do salads better than snacks here. The baby farmers salad is very basic but fresh, and the Italian artichoke is my favorite, delicately mixed with sundried yellow tomatoes, toasted pine nuts, artichokes, large, thin slabs of parmesan, and fig vinaigrette. To finish off a bangin' burger banquet, you gotta have (share?) a milkshake, which they make with Blue Marble ice cream. You can mix any combination of flavors - we went with chocolate and peanut butter and were surprised and elated to have chocolate chunks in our milkshake!

This place serves organic burgers and offers burgers with exotic meats like bison, elk, wild boar, and ostrich. The latter is why I came here. I had an ostrich burger here for the first time. Surprisingly, it was a lot more similar to a regular hamburger than I thought it would be. I have had a bison burger elsewhere before and the ostrich one here had similar differences. The differences were that it was less greasy, more dry, and slightly lighter in color. And honestly, it did not taste as good as a regular hamburger does. With the burger I also had french fries, which were a little burned) but not bad. They are actual hand-cut fries with potato skins still on them. The prices here are a little steep. The burgers are actually a good size. However, they are all around $10-$12 for only a burger, without french fries or drink. And when you choose one of the more exotic meats, you have to pay an additional fee. These are the fees for the following meats: lamb (+$1), wild boar (+$1.25), elk ($1.65), bison ($2.35), ostrich (market price). The market price for the ostrich was +$4.80! I gave in just to try what ostrich tastes like. It was not really worth it but if you are curious and don't mind spending the money, go ahead.

First timer! There's a new Bareburger about to open over in Edgewater, NJ so when I saw this come up on Yelp while in the city, I figured I'd try it out. I've been to lots of burger places...this one has the decor nailed down and service was good even if the waiter was a tad awkward at times. I wasn't keen on the hostess staring into the dining room...but sitting somewhere else would have remedied that. Alright, let's get to the burger. Ordering from start to finish was easier than reading over their already created burger names. I went with a beef burger, cooked medium well...on a multi-grain bun (terrible choice, BTW), Wisconsin Blue Cheese (another bad choice), Fried Egg (an excellent fawkin' choice)...with sweet potato fries. The multi-grain bun is pretty awful...and hell, I wish I had gone with the brioche bun. Damn it. The Wisconsin Blue cheese is well...sharp on the blue cheese flavor, it just overwhelmed the burger. The burger wasn't great. Burger was pretty dry and didn't have that flavor I so desperately wanted it to have. And I ordered it Medium Well. The Sweet Potato fries were limp and nearly room temp. I found it to be pricey overall. In all, our check (table for 2) came to $30. I'll likely try the Edgewater store once it opens up and make better choices.

So I was surprised by the number of things on their menu, but it was only long because almost everything is customizable. Pick a sauce, bread, meat, toppings, etc. I made my own burger with fried chicken, lettuce and tomatoes on a tapioca bun with spicy mayo sauce. It was really good, the chicken was moist! But I don't recommend taking your time... it hardens/goes bad pretty quickly. Their fries were a huge disappointment though... thumbs up to organic ketchup! I would try their other locations since some have better ratings on yelp.

Like a lot of people in Manhattan I get off late. At 1030 to be exact. So I ran to get there before the closing time. And I did. At least 7 minutes before. 5 tables were still seated and I asked to get take out the hostess said it was totally fine and she walked me to the till. The employee seemed ready to get my order when... This manager said the kitchen closed - then proceeded to ask two kitchen staff if they were still cooking and they both nodded yes Then he exchanged a few whispers with them and suddenly their expression changed and they agreed they were closing

Everything was utterly delicious. I got a beef burger on a brioche bun with just cheddar cheese, ketchup and mayo, and it was amazing-- very well seasoned beef and cooked exactly as I asked. My friend got an elk burger and was completely nuts about it. I can't believe the quality for the price, especially in Chelsea. We split a basket of yummy fries with a trio of sauces. Good, although I wish they'd seasoned the fries with just a little salt. The organic sodas were delicious and refreshing, and I appreciated that they bring plenty of water for the table too. We didn't have milkshakes because we were too full, but I would like to try them as I bet they're amazing. This chain seems to be rapidly expanding, so I hope some enterprising person will bring them to central Florida soon. :-)

Awesome service!! Manager is on POINT always greeting his customers, seating them down, making sure everyone has what they want. I ordered an ommegang beer 30oz with and got the wrong one, the waiter just switched it up with the right beer, there were no problems. I also ordered a sweet potatoes/onion rings with all special sauce and chipotle sauces. Which was AMAZING. This bareburger is just like the one in Astoria on 31st Avenue and 34th street, but of course not the same size, would I come back here again, let me think about it!! OF COURSE!! Thanks again!

I don't understand... did I order the wrong thing? Why was my experience at Bareburger so disappointing (and unlike that of the other reviewers)?? The only memorable part of my meal was the service. The server was great and attentive. Too bad, the food didn't follow suit. The burger and fries were greasy and sprinkled with much too much salt. I thought it would taste healthier, since it boasts organic ingredients. Also, the dipping sauces all teetered between 'blah' and 'bland' for me. Do yourself a favor and head over to NY Burger Co instead... way tastier, healthier, and a bit cheaper too!

Went to Bare Burger for the first time and it was delicious. I love that you can make your own burger and be ridiculously picky just because you can. One neg, you cannot get three different meats for the sliders. After studying the menu and getting overwhelmed by left side of the menu, I opted for the right side of the menu and made my own burger. I was going to go with bison, ostrich or wild boar but settled for "boring" turkey. Go fig a turkey patty, a fried egg, pickles, in a romaine wrap would be friggen delicious. I ordered a Thai chile dipping sauce thing on the side. Also delicious. For the table, we got a basket of fries which really should be called a bread pan of fries. The fries came with three dipping sauces - curry ketchup, a special sauce which contained a bunch of stuff and a chipotle. My favorite were the special sauce and the Thai chile thing. Service was excellent and there was no wait for a table. Great place =-) Organic means zero calories right?

My son and I were on a mission to walk the Summer Streets, as well as the Brooklyn Bridge today. In order to do that, we needed hearty lunch to prepare for our 5-7 mile walk, and Bareburger was it! This was my second visit, and our hospitable host guided us to a table that gave my son a nice view of the TV that had the Cartoon Channel on. I recall from my last visit that I needed to order the Western with a side of onion rings and fries. There was a 'Cubby Meals' menu list of choices for kids, and my son opted for the Panda - chicken strips with fries, carrots, and apples. The Western was made up of smoked mozzarella, country bacon, house-made Carolina slaw, smokehouse sauce that was topped with crispy spicy pickle spears. I went with a brioche bun (you have a choice), and the protein of choice was beef. I got that bad boy medium rare. Dayum!! This organic burger was off the chains! Juice was dripping down my hands onto my wrists, and I didn't care. The sides were just as good, and the fried pickle spears were icing on the cake. As for for my son's dish, he enjoyed panko-crusted chicken strips with his fries and apple juice. Their sodas are also organic in nature - which is probably why the diet cola tasted different to me. I asked our waitress if I can change to a root beer, and she quickly obliged. After today's visit, I just bumped up my rating another 1/2 star to 4.5 stars!

A nice, if small, Bareburger. I can imagine that showing up at the wrong time could result in a long wait, since there are few tables. But I guess we went at the right time, since the food was served fast and the orders were accurate.

Bareburger has a reputation for good food and this outlet is no different...If you can get a table. Tiny, cramped and perpetually overcrowded either go somewhere else (there are plenty of other Bareburger around Manhattan if this is what you truly crave), or bring earplugs for dining and your own chair for while you wait...unless you like to stare at a bare wall while you eat at the counter. Assuming they even have space there. While I don't know if they could find more incompetent wait, or managerial, staff if they tried, they could certainly educate service staff not to slam things down in front of customers. I wish I could say this was a singularly bad night at this location, as I rather like the ethos to which Bareburger is wont to subscribe to with sourcing their ingredients, however, this is not the case. I have come to this location on more than one occasion with similar results and have no intention of visiting this location again.

Mmm a really juicy burger. They have lots of options on your menu, so it may help to preview online first before you come in. I just did a build your own burger sort of thing, which was great. It's a little pricey considering you don't get any sides. It's an all grass fed, organic type of restaurant. That really just makes it that much better.

Cool place and service was pretty good. The food was better than average. Fries are excellent and rings just ok. The western burger was great going down....but the greasy taste stayed with my all night

My BF and I ordered classic burger with turkey and supreme with medium cooked beef. Both meat is too dry & tasteless. The onion ring is a nightmare to me. It's too big to bite and the coating is incredible thick. I'd rather go to Shake&Shack or Five Guys to grab a burger. Won't come here again although their decor is cute enough. Forgot to mention, my BF felt sick after eating here. We both believe the meat they used are not fresh enough!

Organic, sustainable and eco-friendly. They get 4 stars since they're one of the few places we were able to find that did it. The burger is pretty good, however it could use some more seasoning (and maybe fat content!). Also, the breakfast brisket is actually the same as their lunch pastrami. A bit salty and rough when added to the cheese and eggs, which had much lighter and delicate flavors. I was hoping this would be a 5 star place, but it'll only hit 3 since there are place like this that I know of that are easy 4 or 5's.

Good burgers, fries and milkshakes. Service is typically good, but can get quite slow sometimes. Lunchtimes are usually busy and loud during lunchtime and seating is limited, so it pays to come early or late.

To my fellow vegetarians with meat loving friends, Bareburger understands our situation and opened up shop just for us. The best aspect about this place is the number of options to choose from- the possibilities / combinations seem endless. I suggest studying up on the menu beforehand, as you'll probably be overwhelmed (my friend was). In a good way-- because who doesn't love options? But still. I opted for the classic farmer's veggie burger with minimal toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion and avocado (no cheese because of Lent). While some may judge and ask why I paid $20 for this simple burger, I wanted to test the patty (ugh, hate that word) and see if it could stand up on its own without relying on the help from numerous fixings. And the jury says... It did! Bareburger's veggie burger OWNED. Fresh, tasty, crispy on the edges but still moist (EEEK) on the inside, served on a delicious bun- everything a veggie burger should be. Don't worry carnivores, there is an impressive array of animals for you to feast on, too: elk, boar, OSTRICH, lamb, bison... funny, I don't recall if they have regular old cow on the menu. My friend went with the bison and devoured it. This place is popular and gets packed around dinner time. Grab a beer and chill up front in the "bar" area and expect to wait 10-20 min for a table to open up. It's worth it.

There are few (if any) burgers better than the taste and quality of the ones you get here. The beef is grass fed, almost all of the items on the menu are organic and all are natural. The service is great and the decor is really unique. Definitely a great spot to eat, with great prices. Also- the sangria is tasty.

I was too excited to take a picture. I had to eat it fast! Came on a Wed at 645p and there was a 25 min wait! This place MUST be good. The hostess was awesome and checked on and updated us. Everyone who worked there was nice. Looking around at others tables/food, I knew it was going to be good! Small tables. Small restaurant. Eva was our server. Very cool. Explained our choices, helped me make the right choice. OMG, I had a bison burger. Never had one before. Wow. Was really good. I made a mess. Had pickles, ketchup, mustard and sautéed mushrooms. All over my hands. Stopped trying to be clean till I was done. Nice bathroom. Clean Will come again or try one of the other locations!

I would first like to say that the service at this location was very friendly. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the staff. The food however ... Lets start with the Fries and Onion Rings Basket: The onion ring coating was thick and almost frozen food-like. They were seasoned, almost overly seasoned, thick and hard not at all like the beer-batter texture. The fries were also extra plain and could've also been frozen fries. Definitely not fresh cut and they were not hot. The Burger: I had the wild boar burger with no bun. I ordered it with cheddar cheese, fried onions and bacon marmalade. The cheese basically had a very melted plastic taste and texture the fried onions has a weird texture and the marmalade looked like Pâté, definitely NOT a marmalade. I was sick not even 20 minutes after I ate here. Will not go back. The sauces were good, if I can say one good thing about the food

We stopped by This past Friday after work & the wait time was 15-20 for 2 , not bad so we decided to wait & were actually seated sooner than expected. Walking in the first thing that grabs u is the smell , delicious it smells amazing in there as u wait u feel yourself getting hungrier by the minute, I know I was the smell was making me nuts. Once we were seated we knew what we wanted to order since we took the time to look over the menu while we waited , Drinks I tried the Wolavers Organic Beer according to our waiter this was the stronger beer so id figured why not , nice taste a bit on the bitter side but not bad all . For my burger I went with the Turkey Burger , supreme style in a brioche bun ...oh my this was delicious everything in the burger complimented each other well comes with fries & some onion rings , the onion rings are really good nice & crsipy tasting & the fries were great. My Friend went with the Chicken sandwich , original style this was really good as well the chicken had a nice right off the grill taste very flavorful , also came w fries. She tried the organic lemonade , sour tasting since it is organic but not bad. The place is not very big , intersting decor but knowing that everything in the place is pretty much organic & recycled lets you appreciate the fun decor a bit more. Looks like the place gets pretty packed & the wait times can be long, good service & decent prices may be a little on the high side since it is "burgers" but the quality of the food makes up for it. we certainly enjoyed our meal & I look forward to visiting another time.

If you want an exotic burger (or scratch that burger-craving itch) without feeling like you broke your diet resolution, Bareburger is the place to go. It's also a great place to satiate your inner manhunter cries for elk, bison, wild boar, or ostrich, sans killing-and-skinning-the-animal. I've had the Roadhouse with bison, and the Jalapeno Express with elk on a lettuce wrap. The latter visit was my first time having elk, and it was delicious! I took the server's advice and went for medium (although I normally love my burgers medium rare), and it was still juicy with just the right hint of game-y. I never get food coma after eating here, and I believe it to be a sign of quality in their ingredients! This place is a solid 3, but I'll +1 star to this review just for their amazing milkshakes! I've had their plain vanilla milkshake, and it was lovingly made with organic ice cream and tastes like a cup of happy childhood. I literally had a huge silly grin the whole time I sucked away at that sucker. In fact, I would drop by Bareburger just to get a shake to go and re-live that experience. Their fries & rings are quite meh and only saved by the dipping sauces. Keep in mind this is not your typical burger joint, so skip this place if you're looking for inexpensive comfort food. I'll be back to try their normal burger (lunch special seems like a great deal) and other exotic meats. And that happy milkshake.

The word "choice" ranks high in my dining vocabulary. I love the idea that the world is my oyster (or clam, or mussel) ... opening me to near infinite possibilities for achieving culinary bliss. On the other hand, once I've found something I love (I mean, REALLY love), I tend to stick with that dish. After all, if it's not broke, why fix it? Such is the quagmire I find myself in with Bareburger. They have tons of choices, from: the meat: beef, turkey, veggie, portabello mushroom, chicken (panko, grilled, cajun), lamb, wild boar, elk, bison, ostrich to the bun: brioche, multi-grain, lettuce wrap, wheat flour wrap, tapioca rice bun to the accompaniments: maple cured bacon, canadian bacon, turkey bacon, fried egg, hass avocado, fried egg, extra cheese to the sides: fries, onion rings, coleslaw, salad (house, Caesar, cranberry blue), pickles (spicy sriracha habanero, garlic dill, bread and butter) to the sauces: bareburger sauce, chipotle mayo, peppercorn steak, chipotle ketchup, curry ketchup, pesto mayo, ranch, country dijon, horseradish mayo But wait, did I mention that they also have specialty burgers, sliders, sandwiches, wraps and salads, chicken strips, hot dogs, croquettes ... and delicious, creamy milkshakes (like the chocolate peanut butter number I had with little chunks of chocolate in it)? Oh, and they're a fully organic menu, working with sustainable farmers and local vendors for meat and produce that is incredible. Now, I've never considered myself environmentally friendly (sacrilege considering that my birthday is on April 22 - Earth Day- and I went to a college that was ranked by the Princeton Review as one of the top school for tree hugging hippies ... true story). Anyway, I'm not the best about reducing my carbon footprint and recycling, but this place is pretty impressive, boasting furniture that is made from recycled material and a comprehensive list of just where each item on the menu comes from. This brings me back to my little problem. I ordered a bison burger, served Western-style (pepperjack cheese, maple bacon, fried onions, house-made coleslaw and peppercorn steak sauce), split the Fries and Onion Ring combo with my husband and in-laws, and also tried the pickle sampler. They were all, in a word, amazing. My favorite pickles were the bread-and-butter, but all were uniquely flavored and delicious. The fries and onion rings (which can be cooked in traditional or peanut oil) were served with three different dipping sauces and were perfectly crispy. And that heavenly burger, with the peppery bison (which is also very healthy - 90% lean - though I can't say as much for the rest of the burger), creamy slaw, sweet smokey bacon, crispy onions and tangy steak sauce ... dear God, was it good. Now I don't want to try any of the other numerous options on the menu. The Western is just so ... damn, delicious. What's a girl to do?!

My husband and I love Bareburger and this location, in particular. I also just ordered delivery over the phone with a kind gentleman (the manager, perhaps?) so that I can also enjoy Bareburger for lunch at work! Not only are there an incredible amount of great choices for a burger or other combos, but there are also a variety of carefully chosen ingredients that are often organic, local, healthful, and/or interesting. Every time you go to Bareburger, you can have something completely new to you! Support Bareburger and more local restaurants like theirs where the ingredients are not just an afterthought.

I first went to Bareburger in Queens, and it was delicious. I was looking forward to a similar meal in Chelsea. Unfortunately, the meal and the dining experience were both terrible. It seemed like everyone working there was a bit confused. We got the drinks and the food for the table next to us, and had to hand it over to them, yet the waiter forgot our drinks. We finally got our drinks right before our meal came. My hamburger and onion rings were both cold, so I flagged down the waiter and let him know. I also noticed the portions were a lot smaller than the Barburger in Queens. When my food came back, it was still cold but I decided to just suck it up and eat it. I actually regretted sending my food back because it tasted worse than the first meal I sent back. The hamburger was very bland and unappetizing. Our waiter pretty much ignored us most of the evening as well. My friend said his meal was cold as well, but he didn't want to make a fuss about it. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in New York.

I'm overdue with this review but we found this place because we were sitting in the Chipotle next door and spotted this boys burger. We asked him where he got it and he said that he got it from Bareburger next door. That's all we needed to know. The next time we were in NYC we would go there. 2 weeks later we arrived at around 12PM and the place was really quiet, and nobody was in. We went ahead and got seated. The waiter was kind and gave us all the information we needed and explained the concept behind the place. We loved it. I ordered my burger and it was just as the reviews said - delicious. I also got some fries and tried their 'homemade' ketchup - ehh, give me the Heinz. I had a blast there chatting and catching up with family and friends. Would certainly recommend once they make their way to DC which seems to be soon! 4 Stars

Simply Devine! We dined yesterday on Labor Day! The hostess whose name we don't remember but whose warm reception was highly noted placed us on a 10 minute wait and we stood outside and enjoyed the afternoon sun. Then approximately 10 minutes later we were seated and having had ample time to browse the menu while waiting to be seated, we were already ready to order! Our server Emily greeted us right away and with enthusiasm. She was very friendly and knowledgable, ready to answer any questions we had. We ordered a pitcher of beer and two burgers, (Supreme Bareburger and Roadhouse) along with a side of sweet potato fries and onion rings. The onion rings are out of this world! And my burger even came with them on top of my burger! These were some burgers! We loved them! When we were through and everything had completely disappeared on our plates we were ready for dessert suggestions! Emily told us that the Baked Apple Sammie was delicious and informed us that the Breakfast Sammie was being replaced at the moment. We order and enjoyed, it tasted like Christmas and we especially loved the burnt carmel sauce that accompanied it, the dessert was also gone before we knew it! Thanks to Emily and everyone involved in our Bareburger experience! You've definitely made a regular of me!

Pros: 1. Tasty, juicy burgers! 6oz is pretty small (in my opinion) but with all the toppings, it's a fairly filling burger. I got the Original burger with brioche bun. I like all the different choices you get as far as bread and toppings! But beware, your meal could get pretty pricey if you get many add-ons! 2. The food came out soooo fast! 3. Our waitress was super duper friendly, and explained everything on the menu. 4. They don't skimp out on soap! They had two bottles of Mrs. Meyer's apple-scented hand soap, the same one I have in my apartment! 5. Lots of seating! Cons: 1. Kind of on the expensive side. Especially when you can just walk a few minutes down to Corner Bistro and get the most delicious burger in NYC for $7. 2. Pistachio Milk Shake: tasted super weird in my opinion. My friend liked it, but I thought it had a gross after taste. I even asked the hostess what was inside the milk shake, and she said, "I wondered that myself and even watched them make it one day but there's nothing unusual in there...I know what you mean though, it tastes weird." hah. I wish I had gotten a different flavor!

This location now has some new deals system called LoyalBlocks. I used the deal it offered me for a free side of fries but I wish the waitress had told me that meant a big bucket of fries because we also ordered the fries and onion rings combo. So that was way too much food. But anyway, the Bareburger we normally go to in Astoria changed its menu and a lot of the changes we don't love. I had assumed that this was an across the board change at all locations but that turned out to be false! This location still has the older/original menu and that is just way better. This location is smaller than the ones in Astoria so there can be a bit of a wait time. We went around 9:30pm on a Friday night and we still had to wait 10 minutes. We were told we could go to the back to order a beer but when we went back there no one even so much as looked up at us. So that failed and we just went back to the front to wait for our table sans drinks. Also, in the winter months sitting near the front can get cold. It is unavoidable really but I wonder if they could put one of those plastic entryway type things on the outside of the door to make it slightly less of an issue.

Love the burgers but the hostess was unimpressive. Gave a wildly inaccurate estimate of the amount of time to be seated. Was unapologetic when we returned (10 minutes "early") and she had given the table away. No attempt to quickly seat us. Better service at other locations.

Create your own burger, but not as many options as other places Chicken burger - great bread with chicken fingers inside was basically what I got, SUPER delectable though. A bit salty, but delicious in this unhealthy great way. Would definitely come back, great for a quick lunch

I will have to update this review once I try the meat burgers, but for now I'll say that I was really pleasantly surprised by the two veggie burgers we tried. I'm always skeptical of veggie burgers, but if for whatever reason you want or need to eat a veggie burger, would highly recommend the two below. We went on a Saturday around 1 pm. Pretty decent number of people, but still tables available. Around 2 pm there was a wait though, although I don't think too long of one. Black Bean Burger - got this with avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and the curry ketchup. Added regular ketchup and mustard to it (have those on the table). The black bean burger was a bit drier than the other one we got which was the farmer's quinoa veggie burger, but it was definitely the closest to a meat substitute. It was smokey and very substantial. Was pleased with the size of the burger, too. Bigger than I thought it would be. Curry ketchup I didn't like, but my boyfriend really liked. I like curry in general, but I didn't think it worked in the ketchup. Farmer's Quinoa Veggie Burger - got this with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Tried the salsa verde on the side. The burger was really delicious. Not fried, grilled, but moist and soft nonetheless. I was surprised it wasn't dry. We asked what was in it: peas, carrots, onions, red and green bell peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, raisins for sweetness (although trust me it wasn't too sweet and I didn't taste raisins at all - I don't like them), and quinoa. I was so happy with this burger and was really surprised that it tasted so good. The salsa verde was fine, but had no punch at all. Just ordinary salsa verde. Both were on multi-grain buns, which is hardy and substantial. Toasted, but not with oil or butter. I believe the brioche has a bit of butter on it. Can't wait to go back and try some of the meat burgers.

Maybe it was my fault for ordering delivery? I ordered the California-style veggie burger in a lettuce wrap. My husband chose the "Maple Bacon" beef burger. By the time that the ordered arrived, the iceberg lettuce (which had already been wrapped around the warm veggie burger) was completely limp. I was left very disappointed by my burger. The patty was uninteresting, at best. I had to search for the cheese and avocado. My advice to Bareburger would be to keep the lettuce separate and let the customer wrap it themselves. My husband really liked his burger. He said it was far from the best NYC burger he'd had, but he was still happy with his choice. Maybe I will give this place another try, but I would definitely dine in next time.

Stopped in yesterday before going to the Daily Show. Food was incredible and fresh! Service was great as well. I had the apple ginger salad which I turned into a wrap and added grilled chicken. So many amazing flavors and I never felt weighted down after eating, even though the portions were huge. Not crazy about the curry ketchup that came on the side with my order of fries, actually not crazy about the regular ketchup either. I was thrilled I didn't really need it because the fries were perfect on their own.

My burger off of the menu came out to be over $16. With a water. Tap. No fries. No extras. And that doesn't include tip. Jeesh I mean I love good food but the avocado shouldn't have been browned and so skimpy. Really underwhelmed and I've been here before. I shoulda gone somewhere for a burger that wasn't going to leave me with my pants down...

I'm generally a fan of bareburger--I've been to this one and others in the city. I had a terrible experience this evening. I ordered my dinner (with 2 friends) directly from the manager, Miguel. I told him twice specifically to make sure there was no bacon on my burger, and he confirmed. Thirty minutes later, I appetizers still hadn't arrived. I asked the manager to check on the appetizer, and he said he would, but didn't hear anything from him. A little while later, the burgers came out, and we never go the appetizer. When the meal arrived, there was bacon on my burger, and I had to send it back. I was pretty annoyed since I confirmed it twice, and when I told Miguel (the manager), he was not very receptive, and blamed the whole thing on the computer. When the check came, the appetizer was included (which we never received). I told him this, and again he was pretty rude about it. Eventually he gave me the modified check with a snarky sarcastic comment, and basically ruined my evening. I told him that this is completely unacceptable customer service. This establishment is in need of new management.

This may be my new my favorite burger shop. Shack shake and five napkin burger have nothing on this place. Bareburger makes eating good meat, good. The meats were good and the toppings tasty too. The atmosphere is pretty cool too and laidback.

My brother and I stopped by here to sit and talk. We weren't planning on getting anything, but wound up getting fries and a milkshake. The staff was very friendly in not pressuring us. So, the milkshake was the best vanilla milkshake I ever had in years. I can't explain how good it was, but it was perfect and unique. I didn't even have their burgers. But I definitely say try them out for the milkshakes! (The fries were really good too).

I really like the concept, but unless you consistently seek out "gamey" burgers this is more of an occasional treat. They do offer regular beef burgers, but that's not why I'd go to Bareburger. You can get a beef burger with specialty sauces and out of the box toppings at any gourmet burger spot. Bareburger's appeal is the "exotic" meats they use to make their burgers: elk, bison, ostrich, etc. I've had it twice and the first time I had Ostrich. The burger was just okay. It had too many toppings and you couldn't really enjoy the Ostrich meat as there was too much competition with the various toppings. The second time I went I got a pulled pork sandwich, which was pretty good. I would most likely get it again if convenient and I was craving pulled pork, but would not go out of my way for it. Overall, I really think 3 stars is fitting. This is not a place I am dying to get back to, but I definitely see myself eating there again at some point. The food is always fresh and the burgers are filling.

I am a fan of the Bareburger in Midtown so I thought location would do the trick. It's a lot smaller (not a bad thing) so it has the illusion of being a lot busier. The food ordered was great for the most part. However, I ordered a "cola" when we placed our order. Boy, was I thirsty! The basket of french fries and onion rings came, but still no cola... even though the person I was with got their ginger-ale before the fries came. Not a big deal. Our meals were delivered, but, still no cola. So when our server came in to check on us I asked if I could get the cola and she said "Oh, yeah, they're still making it." Interesting. I could have gone to Bed Bath & Beyond, purchased a SodaStream and made my homemade cola quicker. It really shouldn't take 10 + minutes to make a soda. I ordered the turkey burger with turkey bacon. After a few bites I noticed there was no turkey bacon on the burger so I told our server who picked up my plate and started examining the burger to indeed see if I was telling the truth. After this, I noticed the lady next to me say there was something wrong with her salad and the server picked up HER salad and tried to use her X-Ray vision to see if SHE was telling the truth, too. I passed on having turkey bacon added because I didn't want to wait. Halfway through the burger, a slice of avocado fell off onto the plate and I noticed it was about 3/4 brown so I examined the other pieces of avocado and they were all mostly brown, too. We're talking rotten brown/black. BARF! The food is good if it's done right and the service isn't horrible, but, I think I would go to the Bareburger in Midtown and skip this one altogether.

Burger cravings? One always occassionally craves for a good burger. Local in my work area I heard about bareburger from a Google deal so i had to go out and try it since it was nearby. The decor is good has a honkey tonk local bar kinda feel and the big plus is the amount of variety and customizations you can do to your meal. Seating is in front and take out is in the back. Variety of bread rolls i'm a fan of the brioche and multigrain when feeling healthy. Choices of different kind of meats as well as some exotic ones such as ostrich, wild boar, and bison. I'm a fan of the bison. Great add ons as well. I usually go for the fried egg, bacon, and onions on bison burger. But they have creative set burgers as well such as the maui wowie (pineapple, canadian ham on wild boar) Freshly cut fries and onion rings and not your standard heinz ketchup but a custom blend as well as a mayo based dipping sauce. Great variety of beers on tap as well and seasonal ones too as i saw they had blue point pumpkin ale. Good service as as well since they offered me a pint glass of water while i waited for my take out with some wall seats for the wait. Nice neighborhood place for work or for those who live in the area. I'll be back to try their other custom burgers.

Food here is absolutely solid -- probably the best burger I've had in my life. Milkshakes are also top notch. Food is AMAZING. Only 4/5 stars because I find the food a bit pricey for what it's worth. Service is also questionable and especially if you order over the phone, it takes forever for them to get back to you.

If you like chuck or meat that tastes like chuck, then you'll like Bareburger. I happen to HATE chuck and any hamburger beef situation that remotely tastes gamey, which it did in this case. However, objectively speaking, service was fine, the quality of the ingredients on my burger were actually very high, and presentation was fine. It's just that I can't stand gamey-tasting beef.

Went there with some friends visiting from Europe. We all ordered burgers, 5 in total, plus fries. Fries were just ok, a quite overfried and oily. My burger (with the +$2.25 bison meat) was good, as flavors, but the tomato and the salad was freezing cold, giving the overall bite a weird hot/cold sensation. Due to that, the meat was cold at the third bite. Waiter was nice and accommodating, but we had to ask 3 times for extra glass and hardware when a 5th guest joined us.

I can't believe this place has 4 stars. Is this really what a great burger tastes like in this city? It's very cute and kitchy, which is nice. But the burgers weren't that great, dry and boring. It was just really boring and not very good. I think the only reason to come here is if you love bison or exotic meats. The beef was just not very good.

Just came here 30 minutes ago to order take out and literally just finished eating the last bite of my food. I was initially introduced to bareburger by my sister-in-law in Queens and didn't think much of it then. But after visiting this Chelsea location, I must say, I'm very impressed. From the interior, to the staff, to their commitment to being green, and of course to the quality of the food, everything was superb First, the interior is really fun. They hit all the "green" points with the reclaimed wood wall, the recycled wine bottles chandelier, the hip bear head sculptures on the wall, the nice booths, and the cool animal wall-painting in the suit. It's definitely casual and appropriate for a burger place without being like an ugly Mc Donald's. It's still elegant and has ambiance, and I could definitely picture myself hanging out here with some friends. Two, the service is exceptional. The man who took my order at the cashier was helpful and a pleasure to talk to too. Then when I was waiting for my order, another server walked by and asked if I wanted some water. He said he figured since since it was hot out I might be thirsty! How nice!! I didn't need the water but said that if my milkshake came out first I'd love to sip it while waiting for the rest of my order. Sure enough a minute later he came back with my vanilla milkshake. yuuuuuum!! Three, upon unpacking my take-out bag at home, I was pleasantly surprised that all their take-out materials consisted of "green" packaging. The containers were made of pulp/paper, and even the tiny dressing container was from "greenware" -- a sustainable type of plastic I believe. And of course, even the ketchup packet they supplied was organic!! VERY impressed to their commitment to being green!!! Now onto the food, everything was delicious. I had their onion rings, sliders and goat cheese salad. The sliders were cooked to medium perfection (as I had requested) and their goat cheese and beets salads is the best goat cheese/beet ssalad I've ever had. That's largely because the goat cheese comes in a ball that's been deep fried and breaded!! Soooo Gooood!! It's so good you can almost eat it without any dressing. The dressing it comes with though is too good to pass up. Not sure what kind of dressing it is but it is DElish!! The reason why I'm only giving 4 stars thought is b/c: 1) They're not on seamless yet -- the owner or manager said they will be on it soon. This means ordering delivery isn't as easy and convenient as ordering from say, Bill's Burger, which is also just around the corner and also has superb burgers and milkshakes. 2) They don't have sweet potato fries!!! It makes me sad b/c I love having sweet potato fries with my burgers!! Nevertheless, Bareburger Chelsea is outstanding and such a neighbourhood gem. Glad they opened up in this neighborhood!

Finding this place (Mar '12) was a pleasant surprise; thanks to my yelp app and the great reviews. Having been out late the night before and in need of a quick fix for my big head, this place hit the mark. Even if you aren't out late the night before this place has great offerings; organics and all-natural selections. . . plus for those on the adventurous side, you have the choice of not only grass-fed beef, but the gamut from lamb, bison, ostrich, boar, elk and a lot more. Service was great and they offer fresh-cut fries. . . delicious. You can certainly tell the difference between frozen and fresh-cut. If you're in the vicinity of any of their locales, I strongly suggest stopping by. They need to open one in Boston - where the burger wars are heating up. . .

I think Bareburger is solid in its mission for great natural ingredients with a whole lot of options. But taste wise I'm not so sure it was that amazing. I would rather still go to In-n out or other burger places in all honesty. Their sauces are great, we got their fries with three types of sauces. My boyfriend got the bison burger and first they over-cooked it to medium/well-done when he asked for medium rare. He said it was better when they remade it, but said there was lack of flavor. I got a regular cheeseburger in a lettuce wrap, and my standards are pretty low, but I didn't find it very flavorful either. I love the whole sustainability bit and I with more restaurants would make an effort, and I'd love to give an extra star for that, but considering this is a review for food, in all honesty it was just okay.

If you want fresh, quality and organic Burgers. You come to Bareburger. -I ordered the Bareburger Supreme (Beef) with a side of union rings and a rasberry shake. My burger was juicy and savory, union rings were crispy and delish, rasberry shake tasted superbly amazing! MUST TRY FOLKS! -My partner ordered the Jalapeno Burger (Turkey) with a side of fries and a vanilla shake with peanut butter. He said while eating about five times, "man this burger is GOOD!" & " I love their organic ketchup!". - Consistancy is key. Bareburger is consistantly GOOD.

This place is amazing! The service is great and the food is really good. Try the Ostrich burger! The elk was a little gamey, so be careful. The menu is set up to ensure you can mix and match anything, and even has salads for those that are not feeling up to the meat. It is a bit greasy (as a good burger should be) so know that going in. Also, I was really impressed that they didn't try to rush our group out after we paid the bill, like most places would.

Who knew organic could taste this good!!! Found this gem just walking around the city. Ordered an all-beef burger with maple bacon and sharp cheddar on a brioche bun. Large beer. And natural chocolate/vanilla shake for dessert. Delicious! Great service! Beautiful ambiance! Would eat here every night!

I joined a group of co-workers who eat here monthly. Bareburger provided excellent service for our group, being attentive but not overwhelming with food, pitchers and glasses. Then they offered free dessert to each of us. It was fairly impressive, and rare in my experience. In fact, one of the locals wondered why they made such an effort; he simply couldn't understand that level of service. Everyone raved about the ostrich sliders though I didn't eat one. The wild boar was tasted like a really good beef burger but just different enough to be interesting, being just what i wanted though I didn't even know it ahead of time. The elk was only ok. The veggie was pretty good and a half was much bigger than a meat slider. The fries were a pleasant surprise, and almost tasted like they were cooked in different oils - maybe that isn't a good thing, come to think of it. I wouldn't think that an aggressively organic burger place would be this good. Good food, great service, and unique decor...again, especially for a burger place.

A really good burger and fries were had today. It was a #11 (red pepper, pesto mayo, mozz, spinach) ostrich burger cooked to medium on an iceberg lettuce wrap on #11. The ostrich meat is pretty moist and has good flavor, but I think it was truly the format of a #11 on iceberg lettuce that sold me. I'm pretty sure I could've done any meat with #11/lettuce and been happy. Large fries with three dipping sauces, and a variety of pickles and coleslaw. Coleslaw is a bit bland, could have used more acid or spice. The sriracha/habanero pickles were bomb. Raspberry milkshake again, is mediocre - melted strawberry ice cream at best. Tried friend's Western burger with bison on multigrain, was pretty good too. Large fries are OD, and the dipping sauces it comes with are not that great (chipotle mayo, chipotle ketchup, special sauce). If anything, I'd order pesto mayo and a side of fries next time. Staff is very nice, everything about the space is very inventive and environmentally friendly. Can't wait till my next Bareburger!

This is one of my favorite spots in the city. The burgers are delicious -- and, apparently totally sustainable and organic and stuff, which I could sort of care less about, but seems like a noble thing to promote nonetheless. I always get their supreme (I think that's what it's called -- it has an onion ring on the burger. I'd recommend the sampler platter of fries and onion rings -- they come with delicious sauces! And the beers are super cheap. Delicious food and totally affordable -- what more could I ask for?

Went here with my boyfriend for a late lunch this Saturday and was very disappointed. We have been to Bareburger before and were craving it, yet the food itself did not look appetizing and the service was below average. Minus a star for not giving us a booth when we requested it because it was for a larger group, yet there were other booths available and the restaurant was almost empty. Minus a star for neglecting to bring our side of fries and onion rings upon delivery of the food and again when re-delivering a burger that had been sent back because they had a lot of take out orders. Shouldn't the priority be delivering all the food at once for the customers in the restaurant? Minus a star for forgetting the side of sauce upon the delivery of the burger the first time around. Minus a final star for the burger looking completely unappetizing, not cooked properly and of a lower quality meat than advertised. Frankly, if servers have computerized devices to input orders and they repeat those orders back to a customer before sending it in, what excuse is there for screwing it up repeatedly in 35 minute period? No accommodating or apologies given for shitty and badly presented food at a time when the restaurant was dead. Never going back.

Pretty good place to grab an upscale burger. I really like the atmosphere of the place with the wood paneled walls and decor. They're very proud of their natural food that extends even to their sodas (they don't have coke, but they have natural soda substitutes that were good and still offer refills). Their menu is a la carte and a bit pricey for a burger (especially if you're just going for a quick lunch bite). You can also choose to upgrade your meats with things like elk, ostrich, buffalo, etc. They have a drink menu so you can have beer or wine with your meal. I think it's for this reason I'd recommend it over some of the other fancy burger joints in the neighborhood. The food was good and the service was excellent. At this point it's been open for just over a month so it looks like they're running efficiently already. I'd recommend it for when you want to have an upscale burger for dinner, but have it still be pretty quick.

I can honestly never get enough of Bare Burger. If I go for the burger option I always stick with my favorite -- the california burger. But their salads are out of this world (and i am not a "salad person"). Their Mexican Salad is my favorite and made with only the freshest ingredients. The service is ALWAYS friendly (i think i have been at least 2 dozen times) and everyone always knows what they are doing. Food doesn't take long to come out so it's a great place to go if you are hungry and need food ASAP. prices are also so reasonable, it's not an outrageous expense.

Great. No if or buts about it. Trio of grown men from 3 different countries agreed that Bareburger means business when it comes to great food and whether you choose your meat vanilla ( moooo ) or something a bit more exotic like elk or bison or ostrich, flavors and condiments dont disappoint. I also ordered pickles 4 ways which were great if you like anything vinegary like I do. I pretty much munched on that solo since my dinner companions dont like pickles (their loss ). The only miss perhaps were the onion rings. They were a bit too heavy, overly crispy and could have used a lighter batter.

As a person who's a self professed, well, not burger person I'd have to say Bareburger has converted me into a burger lover. We went this past Friday and waited for about a half hour to get in but the wait was well worth it. Me and my friends all got variations on the Canadian burger - I specifically got elk with mushrooms, fried onions, swiss and turkey bacon. One word - fabulous! All of the toppings went so well together and the meat was literally dripping with every bite - plus it came out in no time! The fries were about average but were definitely on par. I also got to sip their peanut butter milkshake - it was nice but the peanut flavoring bordered on mild. I know for sure I'm going to go back to try all their meat choices - after all, how can one avoid the appeal of eating ostrich?

Very interesting choices of meats; very unique. I had a bison burger with avocado and bacon and it was as heavy as it sounds. Besides the oily coma it put me in, I was very happy with my meal.

Hostess was nice and efficient. Server was sweet but overwhelmed Food was great Experience was horrible. I have eaten at the Barebar in Brooklyn and had a fantastic experience. I was truely suprised at my experience at the 8th Avenue location on a Sunday afternoon. It took about 15 minutes after being seated to be approached by a server. We ordered 3 small salads, 3 burgers (2 with fries, 1 with onion rings), and 2 beers. The salads arrived. The burgers arrived about 2 minutes later, so there we sit with our table loaded with plates. Our drinks had not arrived yet. After flagging down a passing server, we were told they were coming. And we were again told they were coming again. After I finished my salad, I took two bites of my burger and discovered that my bacon cheese burger had no bacon or cheese on it. It took another 15 minutes to get a server to send my burger back to be corrected. The server came back to say the manager was checking the burger and adding the bacon. It took another conversation to make it clear that it did not have cheese OR bacon on it. And another 15 minutes to get the burger back. When my burger was returned, my friend ordered a 2nd beer and I ordered a soda. The beer arrived when my friends were both done and I was still working on my burger. My soda arrived after our table had been cleared. We requested the check when my soda was delivered. The check arrived without the Gilt City certificate being taken off, so another 15 minutes to get help with that. Many people complain that when businesses know that you are using a "social buying" deal that they are not treated well. I honestly do not think that is the case and we spent $50 additionally. I think the place is not staffed well and that the the employees don't have clear roles, or if they do, they are not well coordinated. We had different people bring drinks, food and salads and they were spaced incorrectly. Who deliver drinks 10 minutes after the entrees have arrived. The table of 10 across from us ordered, were served and completed before I had my burger corrected. Or maybe the iphone ordering system is too cumbersome. I don't know, but I will not be visiting this location again. The Brooklyn location was just as crowded if not more so, but it ran like a well oiled machine.

I've walked across bareburger a few times and when a groupon came around I figured why not give it a go. The Chelsea location was slow on my visit but the staff was friendly and the menu options looked good. I ordered the burger with blue-cheese but then I'm always a fan of anything with blue-cheese. The burgers are served a-la-carte but 2 of you can share an order of fries or onion rings. The sweet potato fries were also very good. 1 unique thing about bareburger is the option to select dipping sauces so many to choose from but well worth the repeat visits to try them all. All and all the food was good, but nothing specific makes me desire eating there on a regular bases.

Enjoyed a very good (though small) organic burger cooked to the just-right point with perfectly placed toppings (mmmm bacon + avocado). Friend had a raspberry milkshake that tasted really good. Shared fried pickle chips & onion rings, which were ultra-deep fried (3 stars). Liked the ambiance of the neighborhood joint, including the popping 80's muzak...

Went here on my lunch break. Great food and the people were very nice. I was looking for a change from the normal chain restaurants in the Garment District and found this place through Groupon. The burger was cooked perfectly. Also, the menu had so many options from what kind of bun you want to what kind of meat you want (beef, lamb, bison, ostrich to name a few). On a downside, the burgers are kind of small so if you're used to eating a huge portion, this may not satisfy your hunger although it did just fine for me and I'm a 23 year old man with an average appetite. Also, they don't include fries on the side and most of the burgers are around $11 and up especially if you get some of the more expensive meat on the menu. So, it can get a little pricey but hey, that's New York for you. I'm definitely going back!

I went to this place thinking there should not be much about it since it seems pretty typical burger restaurant. I had Gilt voucher and we ordered two burgers with two beers. I would say beer selections are somewhat limited but hey man burger and beer are strings and needles. So burgers- we had the bareburger supreme and the roadhouse. so we cut each burger in half do we could taste both. I really liked the roadhouse as it had this fresh taste to it. The bareburger supreme had a bit heavier taste which I was ok with but I don't think I can finish a whole thing without some of hot sauce or pickle. The atmosphere is very casual and the service was good. I will most likely come back whenever I want to get burgers but not wanting Shakeshack.

We ordered the Ruby (havarti, pastrami, bacon, fried bread and butter pickles, apple smoked onions, horseradish mayo-with the suggested wild boar) and Maple Bacon cheeseburger (with suggested Bison)--with combo fries and onion rings and side of slaw. Wild Boar is cooked fully through-no other option for that. The burger was great, although it could have used some more horseradish sauce and I was disappointed not to be able to order it with some pink in it, but I guess that is just how wild boar is done. I did like the idea of being able to choose the type from several varities of both meat(beef, bison, wild boar, chicken, elk and even ostrich!) and buns(brioche, whole wheat, multigrain, etc.). Also, they have veggie burgers and glutin free buns, salads, so theres something for everyone. The bison burger was thicker and could be ordered to preference--medium rare. It was nice and pink and juicy-yummy. Some of the best bacon we have tasted on a burger. The fries still had skins and were served with 4 different sauces (curry ketchup, peppercorn steak sauce, spicy chipotle mayo and our fave--the Bareburger special sauce). Yummy. Onion rings were big and crunchy and the portion was enough for two. Good portion sizes for the price. Natural cane sodas were good but next time we'll try one of their shakes. Friendly, accomodating, quick service and our waiter did not hover over us, which was much appreciated. Nice decor, clean and music wasn't blasting, but louder than I would have preferred. We left full and happy and plan to return again to get a nice organic, free range, fat, pink and juicy burger.

We were hosting friends here from Italy who were on a mission to eat a hamburger-a-day to get their fill on American fare. We actually had intentions on eating at another highly rated place, but the 1.5 hour wait for a table made us search Yelp for a close alternative. It was 9:30 and we happened upon Bareburger. We were pleasantly surprised. The place is quaint and comfortable. The vast selections of healthy meats was a real treat and everything sounded so yummy. Making a selection is extremely hard, so we went with the organized selections from the menu. My bison burger was cooked perfectly "rare" as ordered, which isn't always easy as it has such a little fat and tends to burn easily. One star was removed because chicken tenders appetizer was very oily and was delivered at the same time as our entree. Service was very attentive and others items were very good. We also had the assorted pickles, but they were a little funky tasting. The bread and butter chips were the only decent tasting kinds in the selection. I was excited to see that they will be opening a place near our home.

Went with a friend (his friend suggested it). I was excited to try the California ostrich burger. My first burger came bloody red- I ordered it medium well to well (I know- but it's the proper way to eat ground meat). When I got the second one- it tasted so gamey that I only ate a bite. I definitely want to go back and try a beef burger- I am sure it's good because my friend devoured his bison burger. The fries were too greasy for me but the onion rings were good. We also ordered the pickle mix with cole slaw- I loved it- right up my alley.

OK, this is my first review for Yelp. I use it all the time but never thought to contribute...until now. I'm visiting NYC for the week with my lovely wife, and we've been going to our favorite spots: Del Friscos, Friend of a Farmer (which sadly, was a huge disappointment this time around), and Arturo's (awesome time). But we decided we needed something casual and relaxing this evening. A burger seemed to fit the bill, and what better way to have a burger than to go to an organic burger joint?! We decided on Bareburger. We were expecting it to be good, but we had no idea what was in store. Well, first, the place was packed and we waiting outside for our table. But, no worries. Our hostess, a lovely young woman named Blair, could not have been sweeter and genuinely concerned about getting us the best table possible (a booth in the back, which set the mood perfectly!). Our waiter, Noel, was equally terrific--he was friendly, funny, happy to answer all of our questions and was so patient with our slow ordering. :) Now, the food. We started with share orders of regular fries, sweet potato fries and onion rings. They were all fresh and delicious and we loved the selection of sauces that came with, especially the buttermilk ranch, habanero sauce and curry ketchup. Our burgers were great and we just loved knowing that everything we were eating was organic. And to top it all off...the vanilla shake made with organic ice cream was fantastic! All in all a stellar experience (the service was even better than at Del Friscos!) and we will definitely be back the next time we are back in NYC!

It's been ages since I've been to NY. I arrived at Penn and my friend forgot the time I was getting in and I had to walk around for a bit. He proposed that we meet at Bareburger. It's was good enough for a healthy roar. The app recommended something called Macho Fries and yeah. They'll make a man out of you. Just like Mulan. For my meal, I ordered the Fire Quacker. It's a burger made of duck meat and topped with bacon and other stuff. Needless to say, it's DELICIOUS AND PERFECT AND ALL OF THE THINGS.

I wandered into Bareburger looking for some dinner before seeing a UCB show in the area and I'm really glad I did. I ordered the country fair burger (basically a bison burger with all the "typical" toppings). The menu says the burgers are cooked to medium unless otherwise specified (I got mine medium). The burger itself was one of the best, if not the best, burgers I have ever had. It was the text book definition of medium, which is rarely (no pun intended) the case. The toppings were perfect (enough onions but not too much, enough lettuce but not too much, etc). It seriously blew me away. I also had their house pickles, which were great. I wish I had been heading somewhere where I could take the ones I couldn't eat with me! The place itself is cute and has a fun but chill atmosphere. My waiter Angel and the hostess (whose name I didn't catch), were super friendly and helpful. Great service, great food, I'm sold!

We were here yesterday evening. I enjoyed The idea To create your own hamburger with different kind Of meet and so on; The Server was very kind...but at least my hamburger, with bison meet, was a little bit dry; personally I like hamburger a little bit more juicy.

This had been a frequent place for my friend and me until the menu changed. We still enjoy the place because there are options for her as a meat eater and me as a vegan. I usually make my own burger with the black bean patty, add avocado, tomato, and spinach, on a sprout bun. All ingredients are organic. The mustard is easily my favorite mustard ever. The black bean patty has been pretty dry lately though, so I tend to add quite a bit of mustard... I have tried the Guadalupe speciality burger, but it is nothing special. I recommend getting the sweet potato and onion rings basket! Not all the dipping sauces are vegan though. They used to have a light beer, Lionshead, offered in a stein for $7. One of the best deals that I've ever found for beer in NYC. I would love if they made some of their milkshakes vegan!

Awesome sweet potato fries! Duck duck Gouda burger was good but I think I had huge expectations that were not met. The burgers don't come with anything so you have to order it separately. I think we've been conditioned to have burgers with some sides so this was strange to me. Would give 4 for food and service but will give 3 stars because they made us move from one 4 person table to a 4 person booth, which doesn't really change anything but inconveniences us..

Loved it. Although it's closer to my apartment this was my first experience at this location. I was disappointed that they don't have a full bar, because I wasn't in the mood for beer or wine, and I very much enjoy the special yummy cocktails served at other locations. But the warm welcome from the hostess, the gracious service and wonderful attitude of our server, the consistency of the always amazing food. made me happy to just drink water. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. Very happy to discover this Chelsea location.

I've only ordered delivery from here and not actually eaten in the restaurant. I've ordered a burger and fries and the Duck Duck Gouda. The burger and fries are (obviously) great but it is the Duck Duck Gouda that prompted me to review this place. The sandwich is flavorful. It consists of a bun (with the bun upside down), fried egg, duck bacon, gouda and fig jam. It is so filling that I don't even need fries. It can get messy so it's a good thing they send a bunch of napkins. The only problem I have with this location is that they are too popular. The usual wait time for delivery on a weekday afternoon is 35-45 minutes. It is worth the wait though.

One of the smaller bareburgers I have been to but the wait isn't bad at all on a Friday night. It was around 10 minutes for table of 2. I really like their bison burgers so I picked El Matador. The bison was juicy and on point as always and goes great with the guacamole. Love love love their onion rings and fries combo. The onion in the rings was soft while the outside was crunchy! The flavor in the breading doesn't even require any dipping sauce. The fries was crispy and fresh. I really like the 4 dipping sauces it comes with! I would definitely visit this location again and maybe try their chicken sandwiches.

Bareburger offers a darn tasty burger, not stopping at just the standard beef or turkey patty options. This is one of the few places I have ever seen that offers ostrich, bison and elk, and is the first that makes a duck patty. The ingredients are very high quality, cooked properly and seasoned with enough restraint to let the food speak for themselves. Decent enough beer list, with a focus on regional craft brewers. Service was the usual affected detachment associated with many "hip" spots in Chelsea. It was really in the only ding on an otherwise enjoyable, satisfying meal. As burger places in NYC go, this is among the better options in the casual restaurant category. It's probably better than BRGR and equal to 5 Napkin. I'd go again.

Excellent burger, just wished they toasted the buns with butter and I'd give them 5 stars. Also like that you can get a healthy side like red cabbage cole slaw instead of fries. A little pricey, but it's worth it.

This was a bit pricey for a burger spot, but the service was excellent and the buckaroo burger that I ordered was absolutely delicious. The sweet potato fries were also very good and a generous portion.

Why wouldn't I give Bareburger 5 stars?! It's awesome! Luckily they have a couple of locations throughout the city. This particular location, on 8th between 17th and 18th streets, is nice and cozy. The staff is always friendly and the food is always delicious! Today my boyfriend and I ordered the basket of rings and sweets (our absolute favorite!). Then he got the Southern Caviar burger, and I ordered the vegetarian Farmstead wrap! Yum, yum, yum! Noel was our server, and he was great! We really enjoyed our experience as always! I highly recommend :)

Awesome burgers at this place. Great selection and ability to customize your sandwich. They even let us choose kiddie meals (which are still a good size) that we wanted. Angel, our waiter, was exceptionally nice and accommodative during our meal. Definitely would like to come back again

I am a rip-roaring fan of this location. Christine is the bomb.com server; kind, attentive, and so friendly. She recorded my food limitations diligently, and made awesome recommendations! Love it, perfect service. I had, for the first time in my life, wild boar meat. I embellished it with my "bacon" of choice, hardwood smoked brisket. O M G ... THE best burger I've had in a long time!!!! Will definitely make the hike to Chelsea to enjoy the wholesome grass-fed, pastured goodness of these slabs of meat, and the stellar service! Worth every stinkin penny.

I was really excited to try this place because of the reviews as well as my local friends raving about the service & ingredients. Service ended up being short-lived, as our server basically took our order then exited the restaurant when her shift ended. No one else took over our table, & we had to flag people down for help. The bison was really dense & the medium rare meat began congealing after sitting on the table for 10 minutes-- wonder what it will do in my stomach? I ordered cheese, but got none on my burger. When I asked for the cheese I was paying for, they gave me cold shredded cheese in a cup, which didn't really blend with my already cold burger. The green tomatoes were almost non-existent. The only good thing about the burger was the collard green wrap, which kept all the ingredients inside (better than a lettuce wrap.) The shredded wasabi carrots weren't very spicy. The sweet potato fries were burnt. At least the only cider they had on the menu was decent & local. We were charged for every little addition, which ended up making a simple burger over $22. Guess that's cheap for the city, but I was expecting better service & food.

I placed an order for delivery at 12:51 pm & it didn't arrive till 2pm. I had to call them at approximately 1:40 pm to wonder if my order EVER got placed. After it arrived, the delivery man had the raw audacity to mumble between his teeth "hope the tip is good cause it's raining" not knowing that I spoke spanish. As I open my container, the fries were already mushy & cold and so was the burger. I called to complain about the cold food & a young lady answered the phone. I explained to her what happened & all I get a small chuckle instead of a verbal nod. She asked for my phone number, to which I refused cause at that point it was basically pointless to even bother to continue. I WILL NEVER CALL BAREBURGER 8TH AVENUE AGAIN. They will NOT see a dime from me again. This has truly been a unappetizing experience from a burger spot. You guys have honestly left a SOUR taste in my mouth.

Great menu with a unique take on traditional American food. Personally ordered the Blue Elk burger - perfectly cooked and flavor combo was off the charts. Noel was our waiter. He took great care of the table without smothering us. Even provided some good recommendations on how to order certain options. If you want a top notch burger and beer night, this is your place.

This was my first time, and it was wonderful!! Our server, Angel, was an absolutely Angel! Our food was nothing short of delicious! I had the Cubby Meal--Chicken Fingers, and it was the best chicken I've had in the city. My husband had the Supreme, and he was one happy camper! The fried pickles were also perfect! We will definitely be back :)

This was my first experience at bare burger in the city and I loved it. We were served by Angel who was so personable and kind. He made excellent recommendations for me since I'm a vegetarian. I had the banana milkshake which was the best shake I've had thus far, and the farmstead which was a very tasty wrap. Angel was very accomodating, easy to talk to, and gave us great service. I'd definitely come back!

So, it might as well have been Christmas, because Noel our server was so attentive and excellent our experience was great. He only got our fry order wrong (due to the kitchen at a very busy time), but was so quick to correct it and give us excellent sauces that I practically forgot! Great food, great time. I'll come here again. The only reason I've given a 4 is that the birch tree bark walls showed a bit of the ply wood through, which killed the vibe. Fix that, and get a 5!

There are good burgers here. Actually would have been even better if simplified without the organic cheese, humanely grown tomatoes and cruelty-free brioche buns. On a serious note, the meat I've sampled have been very good that I feel their other additions and hoopla from their specialty burgers take away from it. You really just want to taste the quality of the meat. The bison is good. The elk was great. Even the standard beef patty is worth a try if you're timid from the unorthodox options. French fries and onion rings were pleasant as well. Service had varied among the different locations, but nothing to complain about. I did, however, notice differences in the burgers and how they were cooked depending on the location. The 8th avenue spot was the best if you really want the burger meat to just melt in your mouth.

My family enjoyed our lunch here, but it could have been better. The menu looks delicious, the decor is kitschy without being overly cute and the service is friendly. We found it a bit pricey for good, but not incredible food and there were quite a few mistakes made with our order. My son liked his bacon cheeseburger, but it was ordered medium well and it was overly well done. He has had quite a few burgers in his short life and this was one of the few he said was only ok and didn't finish it like he usually does. My husband's bison burger was ordered medium and was quite rare. My Hudson salad was tasty, but they forgot the blue cheese, avocado, tomato (half the salad?) and gave me grilled chicken instead of the fried chicken I ordered. My youngest son's grilled cheese was charred, but the cheese wasn't melted. Portions were large, fries were delicious as were the milkshakes and sodas. If they could work out the consistency in food prep and getting order details correct, we'd be back often. I love that it's organic and don't mind paying more, but only when it's done well.

I've loved Bareburger forever and my friend and I were looking for somewhere quick to catch dinner before dancing. The wait was 10-15 minutes but the hostess was so nice and accommodating that we decided to wait. After dancing in the street some we were seated at the communal table (how charming!) and were complimented on our dancing by the hostess (she also had the most amazing outfit, but she was more so very kind). Our waiter, Angel, appeared as quickly as we sat down and I have to say, probably the best service I have ever received. Angel was prompt and extremely friendly, however very professional and serious about his job. He spoke highly of the management and he is very passionate about Bareburger, which was very obvious after we learned we eat the same burger (black bean, yum)! I live right across the street and will definitely visit this location again soon. Also, highly recommended from someone who is vegetarian.

First of all, I was greeted by Blair, the hostess, right away who introduced herself and was so warm and amazing!!! My food was amazing! I had a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries- to die for! The buffalo was just spicy enough but not unpleasant and the blue cheese totally made it!!! The fries- perfectly crisp! But it was my service that really made this an amazing meal! My server, Angel, immediately came over and asked me how I was and complimented me- which is a big deal coming from a 12 hour shift! He was so friendly and personable and was prompt and knowledgable of the menu, recommending things and what's better. I wanted a dipping sauce, he was there to help me pick one! Not that I've ever had a bad experience here, but this one was awesome. Cheers!

You're paying for "high quality" fast food portions. This is a sit down serviced place, while the food may be great, grass fed and all organic, you're paying for a lifestyle choice which should be no reason to overprice you. Go down the block if you're looking for something worth your dollar.

Had a great lunch here the other day. Excellent choices of organic meats including elk, wild boar, & duck. I like the option to have the burger on a collard green wrap- this works very well, surprisingly! I had the wild boar burger with the fried egg wrapped in collard greens and really enjoyed it. The sweet potato fries and onion rings are overpriced but very good. I appreciate the variety of dipping sauces they give you. Will definitely return to try other burgers!

  • Aurelie T.

Was not impressed by the burger. Even if it's grass fed and bison, organic quality, the taste was not extraordinary. Maybe building your own is a better option... I had the El Matador and will not have it another time if I'm back. I had to send back my burger as it was way over cooked. It came back completely rare. So cooking method is something they have to adjust. Server was nice. Very loud and music too loud. I am disappointed.

Popped in today for a late lunch by myself and had another great experience. My server Angel took care of me, and did a great job explaining about the difference between their diet soda and diet coke, and also checked back on me several times to make sure that everything was good. I always appreciate follow-up. Lots of places you go to, the server takes your order, the expo runs your food out, and no one checks back to see if everything was okay or if you needed anything additional. BTW, I had another perfect burger (medium rare) with onion rings that were crunchy and HOT. nothing worse than a soggy onion ring. Can't say enough about the service here. The hostess was really friendly, too. I loved her vibe and her smile. She is definitely someone any business owner would want to have on their front end greeting customers.

So I had a shit experience at the bareburger near NYU and went off the brand. I couldn't eat at Bareburgers for a while. Every time I'd pass one I'd rave about the unique food but groan about the questionable service and gripe that the customer service was lacking. I couldn't be swayed. I have since tried other bareburgers and have had good experiences. However, today at the 8th AVE location, I am singling out a particular server, NOEL! He alone has restored my faith in the eatery chain! The entire staff we encountered from the hostess Brianne, to the manager John were delightful! But, Noel's service was top notch! He's a serious credit to the brand! He deserves all the praise and decorating this chain can offer him. Friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and a good sport. I'm really pleased and will return. I will tell my friends to come here and bring all their families that visit NYC to try a BB (accept NYU location) I hold a grudge! Haha). Sincerely, Once a detractor now a PROMOTER!

I was pleased as soon as we walked in. Great customer service from the hostess, to the bartender, to our server! Bonus points considering it was a busy Friday night! The wait time, for a table, was quoted for 10-15 minutes but we got seated a bit sooner which was awesome. I ordered the Elk burger (thought I'd try something new!) and I was pleased. However, I did get it well done, which I thought made it a bit dry. Perhaps getting it medium will be the better way to go since it's got a lower fat content. Otherwise, it was really yummy! And, the onion rings -- YUM! Would totally be back for more of those!! I did try some sweet potato fries, too, which didn't have the crisp factor that I like but all in all, it was a great, and satisfying, experience & I'd go back!

After a 10 mile bike ride my boyfriend and I stopped in to have a bite to eat. We were so hungry that we didn't want to stray far and figured we would find something in the general location we were in. Bareburger seemed like it catered to both our wants (I don't eat meat, but he does). I got the black bean burger. It was dry and didn't have much taste other than the pickled red onions and guacamole. The onions were..an acquired taste that I apparently didn't have and there was barely any guac. My boyfriend said his regular beef burger was "good, but nothing special". The fries, however, were great. I'm a little bummed because I see a location is coming to the neighborhood I live in, and it'd be great if I could have a new option for a veggie burger. Oh well!

I used to love BB, I would go at least twice a week and mention it to anyone who would listen. Now they changed the menu and it's been a disaster. They started the change with the delicious brioche buns and got these seeded imitation ones that were not the same and not good! Then the menu changed altogether and it's been very disappointing. I also noticed that the delicious banana foster milkshake used to have caramel and chunks of banana now it's pale, no banana chunks, no caramel unless you specifically ask for it. I will be satisfying my burger cravings elsewhere.

Good stuff. Organic burgers made or beef or elk. No fries included but the quality is up there. I find the sauces are a little odd tasting like the tomato ketchup which is the best. Overall the quality of ingredients is good--and the waitresses wear nice right pants and are cute.

I had the Wiki Wiki Burger and the sweet fries. It tasted excellent. The only issue I had was the delivery guy practically through the food in my face in his rush to keep moving. I recommend this food but maybe it would be better to try it in "person." They also have a great tasting root beer from Maine.

I had high expectations and I was not disappointed. The friends I dragged along were not familiar with the chain but at the end of the meal Bareburger gained 3 new fans. The menu can be overwhelming so I let the burger experts decide and chose the Roadhouse burger. Who knew that bison meat, avocado, bacon and pepperjack cheese could make such a happy meal?! One of my vegetarian friends was pleased with the options and even more impressed by how tasty his food was. If you have room, please try the onion rings as well. Service was pleasant and helpful. You have to be super patient to deal with the 50 questions that menu can create. Shoutout to Nina, our wonderful waitress =)! This location is average size and well maintained. Perfect for a casual evening. Prices for the burger alone range from $10-$14 but you're receiving quality food in exchange. Highly recommend giving Bareburger a try and currently thinking of ways to go back & try more on the menu. Keep it up!

I ordered (for delivery) from Barebuger earlier this week. It was my 1st time ordering and came away quite disappointed. I ate both a bison burger and a turkey burger. The bison burger tasted fine and I'd give it a 7 on a 1-10 scale. At $12+, though, for maybe 3 ounces of meat, it's a bit ridiculous. The turkey burger literally looked like a mini hockey puck and was very, very salty. I don't know how Bareburger cooks their burgers but for them to look as dry and disgusting as they do is really bizarre. I've eaten hundreds of burgers over my lifetime and can't recall one ever not looking at least pretty good. So, I ended up paying approx $26 (with tip) for maybe 6 ounces of meat, all of which looked disgusting and 1/2 of which tasted terrible. Ridiculous.

After a beautiful Sunday of day drinking in the meat packing district I need a place to eat close by. I decided to eat at barburger. The hostess JADA was so amazing. No matter how drunk and obnoxious I was she still treated us with the utmost respect and was so accommodating. she sat us right away and attended us to our every need. I will be back thanks to JADA and the wonderful experience. The buckaroo burger was banging!!!!

I just had to edit this. I lost a hat and scarf here one afternoon. Came back the next day and got my hat back. My scarf was not found, and I left my number to be called when they found it. After a couple days and no call, I went back again, and the manager (a woman) came out to tell me that they'd thrown my scarf away because there was dirt on it. I am a pretty gullible person, but I felt like she was making this up to put an end to this saga. I don't feel comfortable going back to a place where the leadership lied to me. How can I trust the food? So I go to BRGR now. And I make my own grass-fed meat dishes. And I still go to other Bareburgers. Goodbye, neighborhood fave place!

I ordered the standard run-of-the-mill burger (came with colby cheese, onions, pickles, and sauce) on a brioche bun. The burger was very tasty and cooked perfectly, the sweet spot between medium rare and medium. Fries were also quite tasty, and the chocolate shake was to die for! Probably one of the best I've ever had. It's nice to hear that all of their ingredients are organic and come from responsibly sustained sources, but all I cared about was the taste, and they delivered (literally, to my door, lol)

I had heard so many great things about this place. Plus the fact that they say it is all organic, grass-fed burgers, finally made me head over to this joint after a workout at the nearby crunch gym. I had the California burger (with avocados, tomato, lettuce, onion, cheddar cheese) recommended with the garden veggie patty, which I got. My boyfriend got the original burger with elk meat. In terms of the California veggie burger... very mediocre, the patty itself was pretty soggy, and a little too chewy, and generally a bit flavorless. The elk meat really doesn't taste that special either, just tougher, meatier beef. The saving grace were the sweet potato fries. Fantastic, nicely cooked, slightly crispy, but still full and hearty.

Stopped in for lunch, almost went to the dive-bar next door, but we thought we'd do one for the environment instead and go with organic. Was it worth it? Not sure. -Service sucked. Seriously. There were four other tables and two servers, so maybe she was just having a rough day, but she clearly didn't give a s*** about our table. -Pickles were awesome. App came with 3 different types and coleslaw which was banging, and I don't even really like coleslaw. -Onion rings were mushy, lukewarm and generally lame. On the other hand, the fries were great. -Burger was mid-well, pushing well-done (almost a hint of pink), ordered mid-rare. Sadness. If our server had ever come back, perhaps this could have been remedied. But she didn't. -Beer selection was lame. Love the concept. Hate the complacency. That's the god's honest. It wasn't great. I wish it was great. I wanted to love it. But I didn't. #Shouldhavegottentacos.

I made the mistake of ordering my burger (the original with organic beef) medium rare and it came out almost totally rare and inedible. My boyfriend had a wild boar burger cooked medium and he loved it. We also had the fries and onion rings combo which was awesome as the sauces that it came with were delicious.

I fell in love with red meat all over again. Great and unusual. Loved the salads and the different side choices. Not the most comfortable inside, but not uncomfortable either and carry out can be problematic. But I love to just fall into this place and eat

Instant fan! I love the onion rings and the Italian sandwich. I stumbled here a week ago and have ordered it for lunch for the past 5days! also, not sure because it is organic or not, but you dont get that bloated feeling that you do when you eat burgers at other diners. The sauces are great too.

This is based on a single bad experience at Bareburger Chelsea but I think its relevant because I had previously recommended Bareburger to tons of people. A restaurant has a great burger only if its a perfectly consistent burger. If on even one night the meat is crumbling, and watery (I'm guessing because it was incorrectly stored or defrosted on that day) -- it's not a great burger anymore because now I can't be sure that won't happen again. I know, I can hear you saying "But everyone has bad nights!" True, but unlike with more complicated meals you can do a pretty good quality control on burgers without much effort -- ever cooked one? If the patty is crumbling before it hits the table, something is wrong. So thats 1.75 stars off. The other 1.25 is for terrible service. Here is the thing Bareburger staff: I don't care if you charged my card on the other table's ticket, so don't chase me down on 8th ave like I dined and dashed to make sure your receipts balance out, then make me wait 15 mins while you sort it out. Punching in the right table number and briefly checking the ticket is your job, not mine. Also I'm guessing $7 or whatever the difference was won't cause bankruptcy... but no I sound like those bitchy reviews I hate so I'll give this location two stars, drink a giant mug of beer, and try one of the original spots before I cross BB off my list for good.

As a local, I really appreciate/enjoy when a good establishment comes into the area. Since Better Burger and Vynl closed (thank goodness Westville is still around- another option for a great burger and great food, overall) and I had a hankering for a meaty/juicy burger, I thought it would be the perfect time to try Bareburger. It's an interesting space- a little eclectic/suffering from an identity crisis but has potential. They have a huge list of their own customized specialty burgers but it didn't feel like we could really mix and match our own toppings (although it is possible). They also have a good mix of buns (even a taro rice bun for those gluten free folks) and several options of meat (turkey, beef, panko crusted chicken and so on). The waitress came by with this odd little device to take our order...I was hoping it would be an iPad. So in the end, how was the food? My friend liked his burger and I thought mine was okay- nothing to rave about. The beef burger was juicy but had a very mashed up texture. I like my burger to have that meaty texture but something about this particular one felt like it was grounded up way too much. The fries were fresh but kind of limp. Again, it has potential with a few modifications- it can well be a fun hang out spot for drinking and eating.

I love the quality of products offered - nonGMO condiments and meats that were fed nonGMO diets. The selection of meats is awesome too, but when the burger is topped with an assortment of sauces and cheeses, the elk or ostrich, for example, tastes no different than an ordinary hamburger. Having said that, you have the option to choose all the topppings to go along with your Bareburger. And there are many.

Make your own organic sandwich or choose from their special. I say lessen the headache an choose from their special. I like the whole atmosphere when you first stepped inside the restaurant. We went during the Christmas time and all the decoration gave me a very comfortable feeling. We got seated on the second floor. We were introduced to their menu. End up ordering the organic Shake with Vanilla and Chocolate: tasted like ice cream and it was really good, the Rings And Fries Combo: the lady did not even introduce the sauce to us. I really don't know what i was dipping into. We ended up asking what it was. So it came with a home made special sauce, curry ketchup, smokehouse sauce, smoked paprika mayo. The Burger we ordered were the Maui Wowie and the Big Blue Bacon. Overall it was a bit too greasy on my end. Was it even organic? My mouth was full of oil after leaving the restaurant. Not only the burger but the fries as well. It was an okay experience. We had a little problem with the billing as we booked through savored and was suppose to be given a discount. We resolved it later on.

Severely overcooked burgers and a long wait time. The peanut butter shake is the highlight of the entire meal but everything is still overpriced. I am not sure how this chain keeps on expanding but 5 Guys puts it to shame (yes I am aware their meat is not organic, sustainable, eco-save the world friendly). Give me a burger on steroids not this hippie crap.

Pretty cool burger spot. They have the the fancy kind of burgers, grass-fed, elk, bison, and ostrich (at market price...hmmm). I went with the elk which was pretty tasty, but I expected it to be a bit more gamey, not sure if that's good or bad. Fries are also awesome!

What I like: ORGANIC meat. What I don't like: pretty much all the rest. The burgers are just ok, nothing extraordinary, and the ambient is a little cheesy, but not the good cheesy you would even sort of appreciate at a fast food chain. All in all it's purely an ok place. Nothing too special, nothing too awful.

Note: Although I LOVE LOVE LOVE the food and drinks and everything at Bareburger, the above rating is based on a single experience at the Chelsea location. I really don't know if one bad experience should affect my rating, but here is my review. I became a huge Bareburger fan after visiting Bareburger at 535 Laguardia Pl. for the first time 2 years ago. Since then, with or without Groupon, that's my place to go to fulfill my "casually gourmet" burger cravings. Bareburger knows its game and each location is unique. Now, let me get to the negative stuff. I was very disappointed with the host's behavior at the Chelsea location. It was a Saturday night (around 9pm) and the place wasn't full. We requested a booth (all of them were empty at that time), but we were "almost forced" to sit at a table for 4 (!), because, according to the host "they were expecting people." I thought you cannot reserve a table at Bareburger. Apparently you can...I wouldn't make it such a big deal if the place was full or if there was a line of people waiting at the door. I expected to be treated like a valued customer and I didn't feel like that at all. We ended up leaving, hungry and disappointed.

Just foul. This chain of fast-food-with-a-bar is terrible. Burgers are poorly cooked cheap meat, and don't even consider the "exotic" options, which are obscenely overpriced (and probably not the real thing). Google offer made me go; regrets despite the 40% off. This is a Mickey D's with pretentions, and just foul food. AVOID.

Today myself and co-worker placed our to go lunch orders at the same exact time. We walked to bare burger to pick up together. We arrive and the lady behind the pick up counter asks our names, I say Heather and my co-worked says Jessica. She hands Jessica her order and a paper to sign, I stand there and wait. Another 7 minutes go by and I think they are just getting my order together. Another man behind the counter asks me "are you waiting" and I said "yes but your co-worker is helping me". Another few minutes go by, and the lady finally says to me "the kitchen is very back logged and we didn't put your order in yet, do you want to wait" I ask how long and am told another 20 to 30 minutes. I asked why if myself and co-worker placed our orders at the same time, why was hers put in and not mine and got no response. I was really bummed on their lack or apology or any sort of acknowledgement of a ruined lunch order which ruins my lunch hour!! I said never mind and left. As someone who orders BI-monthly larger orders for my entire team of 15, and a pretty decent customer there should have at least been an "we are sorry for the mix up". I will not be returning anytime soon and letting all of my co-workers know what a cluster this place is!!! When did being busy become a bad thing!

I love the food. Been going back a lot to this place and I personally think its worth it even in comparison to other burger places like bobby flays and smashburger (which arent too close in the area). The staff is great too they are always really friendly but this place still has minor annoying problems. Delivery will almost always at least take an hour. Tonight we recieved the order after 2 hours and the box the food was in couldn't even hold together because of the intense sog. How long was this just sitting there waiting to be delivered? Won't even touch the milkshake let alone the fries that are essentially just greasy mush now. I called and complained and they simply said it was too busy tonight so they gave me a $25 credit for a $50+ order. I'm glad I got something but I'm absolutely going to think twice on when I make my orders and how I get them. That means I'll still be back. The place is definitely good enough.

14 types of Burgers x 14 types of meat/veggie x 5 types of buns = 980 possible combinations!!! Ordered: Bareburger supreme with organic beef on grain. Onion rings was very crispy. Burger: first couple bites were excellent, but by the last bite, it wasn't that good anymore...(3.5/5) Comes with fancy bottle for tap water. Groupon Now deal is ONLY for dine-in. You gotta sit, can't take it on the run, bummer.

Wow is this place overhyped. The only reason it's three stars in my book is its commitment to quality ingredients. Had the Bacon Blue burger with beef... nothing special at all in the flavor department. Really a let down. Also got the ginger ale... supposedly organic, it tasted more like sprite. The waiter did apologize that the ginger ale wasn't quite what we were expecting Although I was extremely underwhelmed by this place, I am willing to give it another try and most likely go for the bison over beef for my next burger selection.

As a generalization, consumers are stupid. Fast food restaurants group value meals by number to make the ordering experience easier for people that perhaps otherwise would get stumped. Bareburger's ala carte ordering style could potentially intimidate some that have never had exotic meats but each combination had me and three others all nodding and chewing as to give our meals votes of approval. Think chipotle menu ordering style (pick a protein, pick a bun, pick a style/variety of burger) with the decor of a restaurant that you might find in a lodge. Our order was taken quickly from a nice Hipster wearing an "I *heart* grass" T-shirt; a nod to their organic, all natural, grass-fed meats. Our table split appetizers of: 1) fried pickles: thick cut from a flavorful brine covered and fried in panko for a nutty crunch. What differentiated these from other fried pickles was the cut. Thick enough to offer flavor other than bread crumb thin enough to be consistently crunchy. Served with creamy horseradish/mayo 2) jarred sweet/sour pickles: as if one variety wasn't enough. These were served in a small mason jar. The spicy pickles are now a favorite of mine and ill probably try these myself at home by adding sriracha to brine. 3) onion rings/fries: the rings were thick cut and crunchy. Too large to eat in one or two bites. The curry ketchup stole the show I ordered elk on a toasty brioche bun with 'jalapeno express' style because I'm a pepperhead. The server asked how I would like it cooked. I had no idea! So, to see if elk was gamey, I asked "...are elk fast?" The server recommended to order the meat medium and I was the butt of the joke for the rest of the night. The allure of Bareburger is that if you like your burger you will undoubtedly be roped in to come back and try their boar, ostrich, bison, etc. This isn't stuff that you're going to find at burger king. Albeit, Bareburgers strength could be a weakness because casual diners may find the menu inaccessible. On the night that we came, this didn't seem to be an issue as evidenced by the short wait to find a table. It was packed! Final note. Save room for the peanut butter milkshake. Then go enjoy your foodcoma.

Great place for the conflicted meat loving environmentalists! All ingredients are of the whole grass-fed, organic, etc. variety. And they've got a lot of variety! Mediterranean burger with dill yogurt sauce, cucumbers, and lamb was delicious! The meat was juicy, and the yogurt sauce was mild but tasty. Friend got the bacon burger with ostrich and liked it better than the lamb! Said it was gamier and a little drier but the bacon sealed the deal for him. The place itself has a funky, rustic but clean feel. Service was a little on the slow side, but will definitely be back! They have a groupon now deal pretty consistently for $6 for $10, so try to snag one before you walk in! Otherwise it's upwards of $12-13 for a smaller sized burger.

Bareburger has quickly become my favorite takeout spot, and I actually don't even really like burgers. My go-to order is the California with medium-rare beef on a brioche bun. The grass-fed beef is delicious, except when they accidentally f it up and make it well done instead of medium rare. Womp womp. :( I always feel like I'm with child after consuming one of these things, but in a slightly satisfied, pat myself on the back kind of way. They could probably get better sides though. The onion rings are kind of intense, and the fries don't do anything for me.

Well this is my first time here but I've heard so much about Bearburger... Apart from all organic and grass feed meat the food is really delish! I had the Ruby with wild boar and holy crap it was amazing! i mean how can you go wrong with fried pickles...Oh and I can't forget the amazing onion rings this guys have! Plus their dipping sauces are so good especially the bareburger special sauce it's a must have!

Best onion rings I ever had. Perfectly crunchy! Free refills on the lemonade, delicious burgers and buffalo chicken sandwich! Each time the servers are very helpful and so knowledgable. I love the decor! Very fun and cozy.

I rarely eat burgers, but when I do this is one of my go-to places! I've gotten something different every time and I've never been disappointed. The menu options are innovative and fun. Sometimes the burgers can get a little messy with all the toppings, but everything is so delicious. Of course they have veggie patties, regular beef and turkey, as well as other options. I love the variety of dips, although it would be nice if you could pick and choose without an added cost (like at NY Burger Co.). Sweet potato croq's are and excellent appetizer as well! The only thing I don't recommend are the french fries. They are greasy and at times quite soggy. Ick. Another positive aspect of Bareburger is that all of the patties are gluten free, as they do not use any breads as filler. I was also able to order a tapioca rice bun as a gluten-free alternative to a regular bun. Great place!

I had the #2 - pepperjack, apple bacon, avocado, red peppers, sautéed onions - with turkey. Good: amazingly flavorful, bacon wasn't all fat, and they didn't skimp on the avocado. Awesome burger! Bad: it was so small :-( but thanks to Groupon for getting me in here to try it, I'll def be back to try some other stuff.

Went to this place with my nephew, his wife & their son (they're from San Diego visiting NYC) for lunch & I gotta say the food was great & the service was excellent! Whatever you decide to order make sure you get the basket of French Fries "cuz" they're really good especially with the dipping sauces!!!

If you love OPTIONS, this is the place to go! I haven't had the fortune of experiencing too many gourmet burgers in my lifetime yet, but Bareburger was really good in comparison to the few times that I have! The best part about this place is that they have your usual grassfed beef, turkey, and chicken, but also Bison, ELK, ostrich! Even wild boar!!! How awesome is that!? Oh, and another best thing about this place is the Sweet Potato Croqs... one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life! Cheesy, fried sweet potatos.... omgawshh! We also had their butter breaded pickles... didn't strike my fancy as much but still pretty yummy! There are also options like gluten-free rice buns! and a few other bun options like lettuce wraps (why would you?!), as well as other healthier choices like wraps, sandwiches, and salads. But c'mon, if you want a salad you might as well just go to Hale and Hearty a couple blocks away! This place is definitely one of the better places I've eaten at in NYC, and I love how it is so spacious and laid back! and if you think about it, you can get a delicious, gourmet burger for $11-$13 where you can sit down in a nice, clean restaurant with waiter service, or you can get greasy Mamouns for $11 and eat over a trashcan while grease soaks through your aluminum plate. I mean, both are appealing in different ways, I suppose... Anyway, I enjoyed my meal and got to try 5 different burgers because we all ordered different things and shared, and all were pretty good! Some of the creations were rather unique, and comes with recommendations on what kind of meat you should get with it. The Bison and Elk were both rather tasty! Beef still dominates with me though :) We had the Roadhouse, the Maui Wowie, the Jalapeno one which was my second favorite, and the Bareburger Supreme, which was THE BEST ONE and had onion rings and fries inside of it! I don't know what sauce they put in it but it was the BEST. If Shake Shack ever ends up being too much of a pain, come here and you'll have just as delicious of a meal!

Looove this place, service is great, like the flexibility of ordering my own burger, especially the non-carb burger, and they are fast and delicious! I'd come back here anytime, and I did :)

Don't be fooled by the name, Bareburger is anything but "bare". The ambiance of Bareburger and its sizable menu offering is paradoxical in that it's a very casual burger joint that allows you to get a burger with lamb, wild board, elk, bison and ostrich meat in addition to your normal choices (but even then, there are 3 different types of grilled chicken to choose from). You also have 14 different types of burgers to choose from. It also had a number of different beers to choose from. I had the classic with beef meat cooked medium - it was juicy and flavorful, and I was practically licking my fingers after inhaling it. Also had the sweet potato croq's which came with 2 sauces - apple chutney and spicy chipotle mayo - that had crispy outer skin and creamy delicious insides. Service was great as well! Just thinking about the meal makes you gain 5 lbs but so worth it.

This place was absolutely delicious! We came here for an afternoon snack and ended up eating a full meal! The onion ring/fry combo (and the sauces), bison burger, and spinach/cranberry salad were split between two of us and left us raving to come back! Service was great and cute park environment in the city.

3.5 stars - I'm rounding up. They have unique burgers (ostrich anyone?) so it definitely was worth a try. They can and will seat you at large tables with other people so be prepared for the experience.

Went there after a knowledgeable friend recommended the place. As usual, it is grossly overhyped but not bad by any measure. The burgers are small but that's not necessarily something bad. I'm not going to repeat all the other reviews: meats blablabla... I had a lamb burger with the blue cheese etc, but honestly I doubt you could tell the difference between it and the beef since it comes will all the sauces and condiments. The brioche bun is bof. Actually bof is the word that could sum up this whole experience. My side of fried pickles was ok but nothing near the addictive ones from Whitman's. They're thick and breaded, hence heavy and greasy since the breading soaks all that burnt frying oil. Bof. The chocolate peanut butter shake was nothing to write home about, decent, not too chocolaty and a bit on the sweet side. For some reason they present it in a mixing metal cup and you have to pour it into your own glass. I didn't get the novelty, but maybe I'm just ignorant, gave it a couple of whisks and poured over, bof. Finally, expect to be asked if you're straight at this location... a lot. So all you GOP lost souls: you've been warned.

Was busy when we arrived so my friend and I wound up on these super high chairs which was a little uncomfortable. The service was o.k. but not great. The food, however, was incredible. I got the Maui Wowie with Organic Bison and it was one of the best burgers, if not the best, I've ever had. My friend also ordered fries and they were pretty good. We topped it off with small (12 oz) Peanut Butter Chocolate shakes and it was one of the best shakes I've ever had. I will be going back whenever I am nearby and can afford to.

Had an amazing meal here! Natalie was my server, I had had a few too many the night before and asked her to pick out my meal. She asked me a few questions about things that I like and she ordered me the Bison done western with the white bun and the combo of fries with onion rings. It was perfect!! Also they were able to cook my bison MR (I really hate places that only cook to MW). Loved everything about the food - also, they have a great staff. Miguel, the MOD, stopped by to check on everything and all I could say was how great the food was (and of course the staff). I will be back!!

I don't get the hype... Nothing great at all. Maybe I did not get enough toppings on my burger but it really was nothing special. Way to many other places in the city for me to go back to bare burger. Special sauce was nothing more then mayo and mustard. Not overpriced like others have said. Service was great

I love burgers and I take a good burger seriously. Bareburger wins points for their clean and environmentally friendly menu but this makes their burgers pricey and portions small. While each burger is small, you do leave fairly satisfied. My boyfriend had the blue cheese burger while I had a vegetarian farmer's quinoa burger. The veggie mix was good, decently seasoned but fell apart easily. I chose the yogurt sauce which was alright. It lacked seasoning or acidity so it was basically just mint and yogurt. I got tired of the flavor about half-way through the burger which shouldn't happen with any burger I'm eating. The blue-cheese burger was also good for the first half, a bit worn after getting halfway through since they put a fat chunk of blue cheese right in the middle... I expected more of a sauce or dressing. Overall, a pretty decent burger joint but too pricey to return too often.

Bareburger has seem to have exploded onto the dining scene in the last 2 years with it opening stores all over Manhattan. I'm glad that this Astoria restaurant has had so much success over this period of time so the rest of the boroughs can enjoy the goodness of their burgers. Also allows me to eat their delicious food when I'm out of my own neighborhood. Bareburger serves up awesome burgers cooked from a variety of animals from bison, ostrich, elk, boar, etc. It gives you the opportunity to actually have a game meat which is probably never been on the plate of most New Yorkers. And what they do is deliver simple awesome burgers on great buns, and if you're a fan of onion rings, please do order onion rings because they are friggen awesome. I'm glad that Bareburger has been able to keep their service and quality top notch across the board. That certainly means that their crews have certainly been well trained to deliver the consistency any restaurant needs as they expanded.

Really the only thing to say here is: No matter which burger combination you try, you'll always want the elk. Just have the elk. Have it with any combination of toppings. Have it with brioche, have it without a bun, have it with fries, have it with nothing, just have *the elk.* And have it medium rare. You won't be sorry. Have the elk. Serious. Just have it. Elk. Now. That is all.

Wonderful service, friendly faces, the managers Tommy and Jackie checked on us several times and the restaurant had good vibes. Love that they list exactly which foods are organic and where they come from. I love that even the decorations are recycled materials. We had the sliders which were amazing, the onion ring and fry basket, red sangria and milkshakes. Good situation!

showed up around 11 PM as there (surprisingly) wasn't too much else open on a saturday night in Hell's Kitchen that wasn't a bodega or fancy restaurant. the menu is a bit overwhelming, with no shortage of sauce/protein/toppings combination, which I guess is a positive. after careful deliberation I went with the western (bacon, some kind of cheese, cabbage?, and sauce of some sort) with fried chicken. it was boring. how can a sandwich with that much going on be boring? each bite was just less and less exciting, one of those meals that you walk away from not feeling full and wondering what went wrong. on top of that, the fries were mushy and bland and of the four (yes four, including an unpleasant "ranch") sauces didn't help. never did I think I wouldn't enjoy fries and ranch. the service was fine, our waitress was lovely. overall, for $18 I was unimpressed. if it's late at night and there's nothing else go for it, otherwise save yourself the money and sit down fancier.

My usual location in the Village is closed for renovations, so my boyfriend and I decided to walk over to this location instead. As always, the food and milkshakes were absolutely on point. What wouldn't I do for a Bareburger raspberry milkshake right now? Although it is in no way the restaurant's fault, there was toddler in the back who screamed and cried throughout our entire meal. I love kids, I really do, but man, the ear-piercing shrieks just took away from my dining experience.

Not your average burger joint. This place isn't very bare either. Its crowded, lively and a bit confusing. Came here about two weeks ago. Didn't know if I should eat-in or take-out. The host approached me in such a lovely manner, I couldn't decline his offer. So I sat, and took a good look at my surrounding. Damn, this place is packed. Its hotter than hell, I'm sweating, but those burgers looked too good to pass up. Extensive menu, offering a variety of exotic meats and bread. Love the shredded lettuce and tomatoes. Bun was kinda greasy. Onions rings were blah. Hand-cut fries were awesome. Burgers were bangin' with generous portions. Loved the decor. Loved the hangin' utensils. Loved the colors. The menu in the back seemed to be blocked off by the seating booths. Servers were kind, and attentive. This is a burger place that should not be missed. -O

Every time I come to NYC, I have to eat at Bareburger. Over the years, I have varied what I have ordered and no matter what I get, I love it. Ironically, finding good or great burgers is tough to do and it all starts out with good meat and great bread. Bareburger offers really good bread choices as well as different different meats and there sides are good as well. Service tonight was excellent as it has in the past. I love this place and look forward to coming back to it.

My friend was raving about this place and its choice of meats a day before my group and I stumbled in. It was meant to be when I looked at the menu and dumbly asked, "Wait...is this Bareburger?" (Hey I'm from out of town) I like my burgers minimal-- none of that avocado + bacon + something really complicated + meat under a bun. I ordered the original (tomato, lettuce, cheese) with bison meat, because I was feeling adventurous but not too much to order the ostrich. The waitress suggested that I get it medium, but when the burger was served, medium was dripping in red juices. Bison tastes like beef, but gamey. It's supposed to be a lot lighter and healthier than beef, however. I would have preferred it a little more well done, the gamey-ness would have subsided as it cooked more. I couldn't even finish this burger, the taste was overwhelming! I felt like I ate too much meat at the halfway point. Overall, I think this is just another burger place. For the price, I would prefer Umami burger.

Fantastic burgers .... and it's organic too! I love that they have such a wide variety of burgers, toppings and they even give you the option to add different types of buns onto your burgers! Who does that?! They offer a large selection of protein, such as, beef, bison, lamb, wild boar, elk to veggie, turkey and portabella mushroom. Again what burger restaurant will you find serving all of those types of protein? I ordered the Bareburger Supreme and absolutely loved it. The patty was juicy, large and the different toppings were fulfilling. It was topped with 3 Onion rings and had fries inside of it! (definitely brought back some good memories in the high school cafeteria stuffing fries into my burgers) I also ordered the side of fries with the 3 sauces. When it came out, I stared at it for a minute and thought it was a mistake because a massive amount was laid out on a basket, but NOPE it was the real deal. The side of fries could have probably served 3-4 people, so be warned when ordering that! I definitely would like to come back again to try their other types of protein (i.e. elk, wild boar, bison) and various toppings since my 1st ever burger here was the ISH.

What other place can you find with ostrich burger! That alone was very amazing. Their food is amazing but for the amount you get and price you have to pay kinda made it not a 4 star selection on that. The services is excellent and they go out of your way for the experience of eating there.

I ordered a beef on brioche with lettuce and tomato , also special sauce. I do not like to add cheese and other distracting ingredients because I really want to taste the quality meat. Overall it was a very plain burger. Nothing earth shattering, considering the price if the plain burger $9.80, the burger is definitely average at best.

Listen, this place is totally alright. I have to give it 3 stars only because it just doesn't stand out in any particular way. Nice service, rough-hewn sort of atmosphere & easy to get a table. Kind of like their neighbor, Chipotle. Now, the food: Mix & Match aint bad. However, its nice when you know that the kitchen has prepared something GOOD. I mean, yeah, you can have a buffalo burger with jalepeños and cheddar on a lettuce wrap - but will it be decent? Just give me some tasty options, I'll choose and be happy! Everything is organic, and priced accordingly. There are simply too many (there, I said it) boutique burger spots in NYC these days. Try it if you must. You might not be floored, but I'm fairly certain that you won't leave unhappy either. Meh.

The house made lemonade was decent. Unfortunately, that's one of the only good things I can say about Bareburger. To start, we were brought out a basket of fries and onion rings. The fries were good, but the four dipping sauces accompanying them weren't. The ketchup at the table, however, was among the best ketchup I've had. It was thick and tasted like it was made from real tomatoes. The first onion ring I tried had a weird smell to it. It honestly smelled like some kind of cleaning agent. I'm not saying it was dropped, but I can't help but think something was definitely wrong with it. The rest of the onion rings didn't smell weird, but weren't particularly good either. As far as the burger goes, the only good part about it was that it was actually cooked the way I had requested; medium rare. I ordered a beef patty on a brioche bun with colby cheese and applewood smoked thick cut bacon. Despite being cooked medium rare, the beef lacked any sort of flavor. The brioche bun flaked and crumbled in my hands, and the bacon was fatty, cut too thick, and took over the entire burger rather than complementing it. Bareburger is the type of place that offers a plethora of toppings to compensate for a lack of fundamentals to cook a good burger. I can't help but question their whole "organic" concept, considering I felt worse after eating this meal than I have at some fast food joints. The only thing that actually tasted healthy was their ketchup, which isn't their own brand. We paid $46.16, before tip, for two burgers, a basket of fries/onion rings, ginger ale and a lemonade. I wouldn't be able to recommend this place at even half of the cost, it's for people who jump at anything "organic" without knowing what good food tastes like. I can only hope that the onion ring that tasted like detergent was at least dropped in something eco-friendly.

I have never had an organic burger and never thought organic anything was supposed to be anything special but Bareburger proved me wrong. The organic grass fed beef, wow, it was so different from getting any other patty that you can get at any diner or fast food joints. I ordered the Supreme with medium rare beef, the moment I took a bite, oh man it was just amazing. The patty was kinda just perfect, no crumbling patty, and wasnt hard or rough. My boyfriend ordered the Roadhouse with bison meat. That bison meat was sweet and for a first timer of bison meat, it was pretty good. I never heard of burger places serving meats other than beef or turkey, but they serve bison, ostrich, and other meats you wouldnt think of having on a burger. I wonder why havent I given this a try way earlier, but I'm really happy that I tried it. Definitely coming back for some bison or ostrich.

If I could sum up this review in four words, it would be: not. worth. the. hype. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I think Bareburger sucks. A lot. And I think this Bareburger location ESPECIALLY sucks. The last time [which was/will also be THE last time] I went to this location, I walked in at 9 minutes to 2 [if this seems ridiculously precise, it's because it is. I checked my watch to make sure that I had enough time to spare for the next sentence]. This Bareburger location has a lunch deal in which you can get a burger, fries, and a soda for cheaps between the hours of 11 and 2. Done. ...well, it would have been done, IF THERE WAS SOMEONE UP FRONT TO SEAT ME. I waited a few minutes after I walked in to be seated, and then after that waited a few more minutes for someone to take my order*. I think you can see where this is going... When the waitress finally came over, I ordered the veggie burger lunch special. She proceeded to tell me that the special only lasted until 2:00PM, and that the deal was no longer on. I look at my watch. 2:03. I ask her in a non-threatening manner if she's serious. She looks at me as if I just asked her if she had 3048 heads and nods. I should have just upped and left, but, like the passive person I can sometimes be, I proceeded with my order and silently schemed to myself about what I was going to write in this Yelp review**. To top it all off, the burgers aren't even that good. Certainly not for the amount of money that you throw down here. I was actually on my way to Flight 151 to get a veggie burger [which is right next door], but, being a sucker for a good deal***, veered into Bareburger. Serves me right for not being anything but 100% loyal to the veggie burger at Flight 151 (which, by the way, is one of the best that the City has to offer)! Do yourself a favor and go there instead. You'll have more money in your pocket when you're through, and more taste in your mouth. It's a win-win all around****. ___ * FYI: if my menu is closed (or, you know, I didn't even open it), that probs means that I'm ready to order. ** REVENGE! *** You only end up saving a few dollars on the deal, BUT STILL. It's the thrill of the hunt. **** Yes, even for meat eaters. Most of my friends are carnivorous, and they swear by their meaty burgers as well. JUST DO IT. Bareburger sucks.

Every so often a "gourmet" burger needs to be consumed. Bareburger delivers. Uncommon patties piled high with various toppings, sauces and accoutrements. The best part was the ratios, it wasn't a massive patty or a ridiculous quantity of toppings. There was a lot in total, but the ratios were in balance. I puzzled and puzzled over what to eat, and after my puzzler was sore I gave up and asked our waiter. He recommended a couple and I happily went along with one and was not disappointed. The "pre-built" options are great starting points, and if other servers are similar to ours then I recommend talking to them about your tastes. They will suggest the many possible modifications to guarantee a successful burger. The sangria was a great addition to dinner, which honestly surprised me more than seeing Elk, Ostrich and Wild Board on the menu. Sangria at a burger shop!? Well, they have it and another good delivery.

Here is what I liked: The waitress. Good service, awesome smile, attentive, great attitude and they were both very pretty and that sure didn't hurt. (I know, I know...but I am a sucker for a pretty face). I was not sure about the beer and she let me taste it to make sure it wasn't too hoppy like everything else that is now served on tap these days. I hate hoppy beers. Some of the newer beers just use too much spices and cloves and leave an aftertaste...which I don't like. I know They didn't brew the beers...but had to say that. I also did like the onion rings...very tasty and crunchy. But here is the things I didn't like. If I want bacon on my burger I want to make sure that when I bite into it, it comes apart with the rest of the bite and is not pulled out of the burger (basically dismantling it and making a mess) These two ridiculous slabs were so thick and fat that I had to remove them and eat them separately - or maybe I should say they removed themselves. If you are going to use such a fat slice then cook it so it can be bitten. But if its stringy... And what is all the fascination with this chain? I've now tried three burgers...Ostrich, Beef and Bison and quite frankly I just don't get it. Bun is not that exciting, everything else is just the usual and $14 bucks for a burger that is mediocre at best...not crunchy, really not that flavorful, and lost in the bun? "Meh" is right. Go to Jackson Hole, Go to 5-guys (a totally different type of burger), but this is my last time there... Unless the waitresses personally invite me.

I've had the onion rings (yummy) and usually get the sliders. I've had boar (too gamey), bison (too dry), elk (delicious). Definitely every time I go back, I go with elk. The fries are good but I think the onion rings are the way to go. Service can be lacking at times. Sometimes the waiters like to converse with certain customers and you have to get your order taken by the hostess. Will return.

During my recent trip to NYC, I had the pleasure of dining at Bareburger. This cozy and trendy burger joint is located in the Chelsea neighborhood of NYC. Thanks to a fantastic Groupon deal... my friends and I were able to enjoy Bareburger at an affordable price! Two things that I love about Bareburger....they serve wine and they serve Lamb burgers. And for the cherry on top, they only serve grass-fed meat. What more could a girl ask for? I ordered a Lamb Maui Wowie Bareburger on Tapioca Rice Bun (Gluten Free) with 2 glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon. I also shared a Rings & Fries Bareburger combo with my friends. Everything was absolutely delicious! Be sure to try the spicy chipotle mayo and the Bareburger special sauce as they will add a special touch to your meal. Fun Fact: Bareburger serves Wild Boar, Elk and Ostrich burgers. During my next trip to NYC I would like to try the Ostrich burger...with a glass of wine of course!

This place is nailing it with accommodating veggies, vegans, gluten free etc people. They have soo many options! I had the mediterranean garden burger which is a quinoa patty and lots of delicious veggies on a rice (gluten free) bun. The zucchini sticks are phenomenal. The fries are great. The space is super cute. The service is excellent. I'm a huge fan! Open in the west village please!

Freaken num, were the first two words that came to mind when I decided to review Bareburger. Seriously drooling right now just thinking of my lunch on Saturday. Ordered the beef California burger (minus the salsa) on a wheat flour wrap, rings and fries combo and organic diet root beer. Wow, I can't even concentrate b/c I want one now. Just visit the sit down joint in Chelsea. It's sooo worth it.

Bareburger is a good place to go for a scrumptious burger. A nicely decorated restaurant, there are exposed brick walls, ceiling lights that are made of glass bottles, spoons and forks, old wooden panels, and old metal panels for the ceilings. There are also wooden tables and chairs, and further in several booths with very high backs. There are high chairs and high tables and regular tables where your feet can touch the ground. There is music in the background and this place has a good, fun atmosphere and is comfortable. They serve organic, all natural, free-range, grass-fed meats; organic and all-natural cheeses; and organic vegetables so you can feel good about what you are eating. You get your choice of meat. They have beef, turkey, veggie, chicken, lamb, bison, ostrich, portobella, elk, wild boar, and bison. There is also a lunch special. For $11.95 you get a original burger with beef, turkey or veggie, choice of bun, soda and fries. On different occasions, I've tasted their original burger, western burger and maui wowie all prepared with a beef patty. You get a choice of bun. They range from multi-grain bun, brioche bun, lettuce wrap, wheat flour wrap, tapioca rice bun and for an additional 35 cents you can get a gluten-free bun. I have tried the brioche bun and the multi-grain bun. The buns hold up to the burger, and the 6 oz. size patty is a good portion. The beef is tender and soft. The meat tastes very fresh. The onion rings have a thick coating, and the fries are hand cut and fried in peanut oil. The French fries are non-greasy and a good size portion. The bread and butter chips that are fried are out of this world. I've even had a strawberry shake and it is pretty tasty. I know a friend who had the bison and it was cooked to specifications, not over done. They know their burger here. I've also tasted the portobella sandwich The blue cheese here is strong and did overwhelm the portobella. Wait service here is friendly and cheery. Sometimes you have to wait to get a waiter after you are seated. There is also wait time for your food, because everything is made to order. Be suspicious if you go into a restaurant, place an order and then the food comes right out. You won't find that here. Also, look for some Groupon deals for Bareburger. I've used Groupon twice here.

I came here yesterday while in Chelsea and I was definitely impressed with what they had to offer. The atmosphere is very interesting with funky art and decorations and the staff was very nice. There were many options when it came to creating your burger ; they had some great pre-made options as well. I wasn't feeling too adventurous for the different meats so I ended up getting the classic burger and a mix of fries and onion rings. The food was very good and super filling- I barley could have finished it all. You can definitely taste the difference in their organic products rather than what other restaurants have to offer. I would definitely come back to this spot again if I'm around. Oh, and they also have Groupon coupons from time to time so look out for those before you go.

This Bareburger is pretty consistent with the rest of the locations. Great food, fun atmosphere, nicely designed. The space is a little smaller than the other locations I've visited. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 20 minute wait, but it actually ended up being about 10. We were quickly seated. We already knew what we wanted, so we ordered right away and then the bus boy came by to give us some water. We received our basket of fries first, which were cooked perfectly. About 5 minutes later, we were served our burgers and they did not disappoint. They were cooked as we requested them and served steaming hot with the cheese still melty. Our waiter didn't come by too often, but when he did he was pleasant. We were in and out of there within 40 minutes.

Lamb, Wild Boar, Beef and Bison now this is what I am talking about a carnivores delight. Stopped by late last night for a bite with 2 friends. This is a really nice place and a enjoyable burger. My friends had the Classic with Beef and the Original with Beef. While I opted for the Mediterranean with Lamb. It is sort of like you get to pick out the type of organic meat or as the waitress would say protein and choice of bun. The Mediterranean consisted of Lamb medium well, cucumber mint yogurt, lettuce, cucumber, tomato and apple smoked onions on a multi-grain roll. This was very very good and enjoyable. My friends really liked their burger choices as well. We shared a french fries and onion rings combo. The onion rings were really really nice and crunchy especially with the dipping sauces. I didn't care to much for the french fries they seemed really oily. I love crunchy french fries and these were not. Ooh and to drink I enjoyed a Peanut Butter - Chocolate Chip Milk Shake absolutely marvelous and yummy.

I was recommended to this place by a local friend who grew up in NYC and just recently moved to the bay area. Kinda funny, the day after she talked to me about this place, I came across a groupon for $20! I immediately jumped on it and purchased one. When we first walked into the place, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess. She said it wouldn't take long to get us seated and guided us to the little bar area. We ordered a basket of fries and onion rings combo to share, my friend and my sister ordered a lamb burger and a portebella burger both on tapioca buns, I ordered a portebella burger on lettuce. They were very delicious. I can't decide whether this place or Shake Shack is my fav in NYC. The waitress was also very nice and gave us samples of the wine to make sure we order what we want.

I like Bareburger a lot! It is nice atmosphere, very good condiments (tomato-curry / honey-mustard...), very good fries (with the peel), and a nice choice of burger (you chose a "style" of burger, and the bread). If you want an original / "fanciest" burger, it's the place to go. Very good for veggie burger (which is rare to find). I ordered twice to go, and it was really disappointing... the hot food in the box or I don't know what made the burger and fries not good at all. An advice: don't take to go or for delivery, just go and eat there! You probably need to wait a little.

I AM (WO)MAN, HEAR ME ROAR! ...is what I was thinking as I perused the protein options at Bareburger. Wild Boar, Bison, Ostrich, Elk - so many more meat options than your ordinary burger place, all of which, in addition to being experimentative, are leaner and healthier for you overall. It really appealed to the hunter-gatherer in me. For those of you who have sworn off carbs - which I commit to about 10% of the time - there's the option of getting your burger wrapped in a lettuce wrap too! I was going to do that until my inner devil convinced me I'd enjoy a brioche bun more. I went with the Big Blue Bacon - blue cheese, bacon, sauteed mushrooms, fried onion, barbeque sauce, all on a bison patty. It was definitely delicious, although I will say the barbeque sauce was a tad overwhelming and masked the flavor of the bison. I ordered a chocolate milkshake too, because I suspected that's what my Paleo ancestors would have done. We scarfed down a ton of food and I must say, I actually didn't walk out of there feeling like a greasy mess. I think that attests to fresh, organic ingredients. A lot of items on the menu are also vegetarian and gluten-free. So much better than your ordinary burger joint - definitely recommend!

Still the bomb diggity! I swung in earlier with my son for two Bison burgers and their french fry/onion ring basket. The quality hasn't change since they opened. Its an awesome place for a burger and beer. My only issue? It's a little pricey (but worth it..)

DELICIOUS normally at places like this I order beef burgers with all the fixings, but I was recently coming off a juice fast so I picked this place for their healthier options. I ordered the California with a quinoa patty and vegan cheese. I'm not vegan and have never ordered any sort of veggie burger before so I was a bit worried as to what it would taste like. It was so so so good. I would definitely return to Bareburger. I am looking forward to trying their different options.

I came to this place one of the first days it opened. I live in LA so I was waiting to go back to Bareburger in Chelsea after a whole year as my first experience was one of a kind. The place was packed with people waiting outside in the cold for 45 mins!!! I was told it is like that every day! I waited and 35 mins later I could be rewarded with an Asian salad, crabcake patty and the unbelievable peanut butter milk shake! Definitely my favorite burger place in the USA! I want to try the whole menu...willl be eating here every day while in NY! Service is awesome too! Gongrats guys!

Its easier to sit here as a group of three or four than it is for two at this particular bareburger but the quality of food is comparable to all the others. I have had the supreme burger here and the roadhouse burger (with turkey on brioche) and both are awesome sauce. It's not overly large, making it easier to finish than burgers like Jackson Hole creates. I always recommend the fries and onion ring combo because that's how you get all the variety of dipping sauces. They have a nice chipotle mayo and curried ketchup. I'm not sure what the other two sauces were bu one just seemed like plain old BBQ sauce. The onion rings are the extra large, heavy breading style and normally my boyfriend never feels like he gets enough onion rings in the order. (If you order the Supreme you will get another two on top of your burger..this shut him up the last time we went). The best thing that I feel like is overlooked are the milk shakes. They are always phenomenal. At this particular location I've had the chocolat milkshake and Armin L had cookies and cream. We combined our milk shakes in a 60:40 ratio and it made it even better. The cookies and cream was really REALLY good and if you love cookies and cream you will not regret picking that shake. (I actually don't like cookies and cream..until I had that milkshake.) The chocolate milkshake came with some serious pieces of chocolate all throughout the shake. So this was an actual case of where the milkshake brought all the boys to the yard...damn right, it's better than yours.

First time in here and loved it. The spicy pickles were great and the burger was terrific. I wish they had a smaller draft beer size. If I didn't have someone to share it with I wouldn't have had one and that would have been sad. Never heard of this chain and will look for it elsewhere.

I'm no stranger to Bareburger, so I had to check-out the new location in Chelsea when they opened. When the hostess told me there was a 45 minute wait to eat a damn burger I took my happy-ass over to NY Burger Co. where I could eat a burger in this lifetime (b-t-dubs: NY Burger Co. was pretty damn good; and the guy with the cool glasses hooked my burger up!). Now since I believe in second chances, I returned, this time prepared to for the wait (and boy did I wait). Since the bartender knew it was my bday week, he offered me a free drink while I waited an eternity for a table to clear; that was cool, appreciated and necessary. When I finally sat down at a table, our server took the best care of me & my bro. My Hawaiian burger was awesome (I was havin' luaus all up-in-thru my esophagus) and my buddy's bison burger was so good, I decided to take a few "Hungry Man" bites out of it (we scrapped afterwards but I had my belly full so I was Tiger Blood Winning like Charlie Sheen). This place will earn 5 stars once the novelty wears off in this neighborhood and more tables become available to diners in reasonable amounts of time.

I've been here several times - I LOVE the variety of well-sourced meats, yummy combos, and gluten free options. All the Bareburger food I've had (okay, except for the sweet potato croquettes, I tried really hard to like them, but I just didn't..) has been AWESOME. I've tasted most of the pre-fab burger combos, beef, elk, boar, venison; fries, the croquettes, shakes, beer, desserts... *drool* Table service ranges from good to awkward to "where did my server go?" - they do everything order-wise on iphones, but some of the servers haven't mastered the art of making this clear, so it just looks like they're texting a friend while also attempting to take your order. The price point is okay when you consider how much grass-fed beef costs and that it's a sit-down restaurant, but it feels pricey when I order take out or delivery... that may not make logical sense, but it is what it is. Overall - DELISH, mixed reviews on the service, and I'd definitely go here more often if I had more money.

Well I got a craving for a burger. Hopped on Groupon and got myself a good discount. What I got: Maple Bacon Cheeseburger Onion Rings Strawberry-Banana Chocolate Syrup shake. All in total came to about 20 bucks plus tip. Service was amazing. Seriously, I don't know about the other waiters but our server was SO nice. Food is great. Doesn't leave you with that gross bloated feeling you get from eating big burgers. Portions are great. (although I was sad that the onion rings were so scare compared to a side of fries :[ ) All in all, good place but pricey for a broke college student.

fantastic little burger place. service is a 10. food is a 10. don't expect fancy, gourmet, but more like polished, organic bar food with real flavor and well thought out sauces and condiments. i highly, highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a burger that'll blow your mind. i had the bison, my friend had beef - we both couldn't stop raving.

The burgers here are so juicy and full of flavor. They offer grass fed meats. This is the only restaurant I know of that offers a choice of specialty meats for a burger. i.e. bison and ostrich.

Went for lunch yesterday. Strolled right in--no wait. The staff was friendly and attentive. Had the lunch special--choice of burger, side, and drink for $12. Burger was awesome. There are cheaper places for lunch but the food was top notch. Will definitely be back!

I went to this Restaurant with a few friends on a Thursday evening. We were intrigued by the ambience and the fact that it specialized in burgers. When we went inside, the decorations were very hip and had a sustainable/environmental sort of vibe, which is always a plus. The menu was easy to understand and they offered the options of many different types of burger such as organic beef, bison, portabella mushroom, etc. I ordered an 'original' with organic beef which was $10. When I received the burger it looked and smelled great but I was disappointed to realize that it did not come with fries....for $10 anywhere else in the city an original burger with no additional toppings always comes with fries. I think $10 for just the burger was a bit overpriced, though it was organic beef. The burger was above average but not the best I've had. It had a 'secret sauce' which just looked like salad dressing to me. The waiter wasn't very nice, he seemed like he was trying to rush us out of the restaurant as fast as possible. Overall, I think this place is pretty good, just a bit overpriced. I wouldn't come here again if I was trying to save some cash, but if money isn't your issue, this is a good place to go for a tasty burger and low environmental impact.

Patty choices include Bison, Lamb, Turkey, Veggie, Ostrich and a few others that I can't remember. What I do remember is that the burger was good. Really good. There are a lot of pre-fixed burger combinations (with meat recommendation). Not as many build-your-own-burger options as others but the quality of the burger is higher. Oh, and the union rings: OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!

Best burger in the city - even better than Minetta Tavern! I never knew meat could be as juicy as their bison. Heaven, every time I go. (In short...I'm obsessed.)

Love this Bareburger. I used to go to the one at Lafayette Pl. but they constantly screwed up my order and some of the female waitress's have a huge attitude problem. I stopped by here on my way to the A train and what a difference. The waitresses are friendly and pleasant and the food is made exactly as I ordered, plus it doesn't taste like its been sitting around for 10 minutes. Will definitely be back. Thanks for restoring my faith in Barebugers.

We had eaten burgers at least twice earlier in the week, but our friends insisted on coming here on our weekend getaway. Everything is organic so of course the burgers were fresh and delish. I got the beef, but my friend said that the bison was good. Go for the Maui Wowie; it was bomb diggity.

These burgers are really great. The ingredients are fresh, the interesting meat choices are perfectly cooked as you order it to be cooked and the menu is full of different options. I also appreciate that the packaging made from recycled materials. The only one thing I have to say is that for the price the burgers are a little on the small side but then I have an unusually large appetite so it's a personal thing and it definitely wouldn't stop me going back. Eating less burgers and fries never hurt anyone. Long story short; bareburger is on speed dial. Try them you won't be dissapointed

Loved bareburger the first time I had it, in Astoria, and had a just ok time again last night in Chelsea when I went again with a friend (we used a Groupon). First time I had a portobello burger (don't remember what the name was), with avocado and sprouts, which was amazing - the mushroom was perfected cooked, tender without being chewy, a real treat. Last night I had The Roadhouse, with pepperjack, avocado, maple bacon (which I gave to my friend), roasted red pepper, apple smoked onion, and tomatillo sauce. I chose a bison burger and had it on a multi-grain roll. The server asked for a temp, so I said med-rare. It DEFINITELY was way over med-rare, more into med-well/well range. It was still tasty with all the accompaniments, but the burger itself was way too cooked for bison and tasted dry. There was maybe a touch of pink in the middle, if that. If you're going to offer bison, be prepared to cook it properly. But it didn't seem like the kind of place where you send a burger back - it was fast-paced and we only saw our server once briefly way after our food arrived from the food runner. So I entertained sending it back for a second and soon realized that between finding our server and waiting for another burger, I'd be waiting awhile and my guy friend's burger would have disappeared. The fries were just ok, nothing special; I remember having sweet potato fries in Astoria that were really good. My friend had a beer; I should have. The house red was awful. Maybe it's my own fault for getting wine at a burger place. If you're tempted to do the same, don't. Just don't. Have a beer and then get a glass of wine after at one of the awesome wine bars in the w. village. One other thing that surprised me was how expensive it ended up being. The burger was 11.45, PLUS 2.45 to get bison (part of the pull of bb are all these special meats, but they all tack an extra almost 3 bucks onto a burger), PLUS 2.45 to add fries. So a not huge dry bison burger with meh fries came to almost $17. Plus $8 for bad wine. Not exactly burger joint prices. What should have been the star of the meal, the bison, was extremely disappointing. I might try it again, one just opened near the restaurant I work at, but unfortunately the shine is off my love of bareburger.

My wife and I ate here tonight and both got food poisoning! Burgers are overpriced and the fries are small and soggy with oil. 2 burgers, 2 sodas, a order of fries, and a small milk shake cost about $65! We both have been throwing up and are running to the bathroom every 30 minutes. There are many other burger places that are more tastier and at a much better value! Plus it was so hot in there. There is NO air conditioning.

Just like my star rating says: "meh." I was pretty unimpressed with Bareburger. After putting off trying it for years (mostly because of how ridiculous their prices are), I decided to finally just bite the bullet and do it (because of a Google Offer I received for free fries with the purchase of a burger). Nothing was terrible (except maybe their saccharine-sweet, generic tasting "diet cola") or inedible, but nothing was amazing or outrageously delicious either. To start with, $10+ for a burger (and JUST a burger at that) is just ridiculous. I knew what I was getting into, but honestly the price of this place is a real sticking point for me on top of the fact that if you stay to eat (even if you order your food yourself at the counter), table service is obligatory. In terms of the food I ordered the Country Bacon with a beef patty, not necessarily because it was my top choice but honestly because it was the cheapest burger on the menu. The burger itself was...ok, not necessarily tasty or unlike any other burger I've ever had. The "country bacon" (the actual bacon itself, not the burger) was more like meaty ham or undercooked Canadian bacon than the crispy saltiness of my dreams (I don't know if most people expect this to be the case or not, but it was a major letdown for me). I tried to just eat it on the burger, but eventually ended up taking it out and tossing it to the side. The rest of the elements that comprised the burger were pretty standard and nothing to write home about. To be honest, the highlight of the entire thing was the brioche bun it came on because it was pillowy and soft. Even though it was good, I definitely don't think the bread should be what stands out most about a burger experience. The fries were just average: not gummy and reheated, but not crisp and delicious either. Even without being charged for the fries because of the Google Offer, the bill still came out to $15. I don't necessarily regret going (since now I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything), but I won't be going back.

I went to the Bareburger on 153 8th ave. in the Chelsea district. This is my first time in NYC and in this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised: the atmosphere is cool and ecclectic (though small). My waitress was attentive and very friendly. The menu is unique with a lot of items to choose from such as salads, burgers, sandwiches, etc. Unlike most burger joints, this place offers organic and gluten-free burgers as well as burgers with exotic meats such as ostrich, bison, elk and lamb. Prices are on the reasonable side for their specialty items. The only con is that their sign is not very noticeable nor visible during the day (which obviously will make it hard to see and find it at night.) Otherwise, I highly recommend this burger restaurant for the locals and especially when visiting NYC!

After craving a delicious burger for a couple of weeks, I ecided to check out this place after having some drinks at the local bars. The reviews seemed great so I was excited to see what this place was all about. All I have to say that I was completely pleased with the burgers, service and overall experience. The burgers and fries were fresh and were one of the best I have had. The only downfall was that it was a bit cramped, however, it did not really take away from food which is the most important part to me. I will absolutely be returning..

Went here on a recent Tuesday evening. I'd heard of this place from a friend who had a Groupon for a meal here, so I'd completely dismissed it thinking it must not have been good. But I decided to give it a try after hearing some other people rave about it, and I'm so glad I did! Even on a Tuesday night we waited about 20 minutes for a table, which was fine because we sat in the back over a couple of pints. I'm a huge fan of the way this restaurant is decorated - cute, smart, and interesting. I loved their little plaques of bear facts! I ordered the Western burger with bison, and my husband ordered the Regular. We were both very pleased with our burgers! Even though I ordered bison, which tends to get dry easily, my burger was really quite moist and tasty. The fries and onion rings were good as well. The only thing we didn't care for were the sweet potato croq's (croquettes), which were more like mashed sweet potatoes breaded and fried. Not exactly that tasty or interesting. Anyway, I'll definitely be back! Service was friendly and good as well.

Very good burgers with a lot nice options (meats and sauces) you won't get everywhere else. I wish they had better beer selection since they typically just have some hipster IPAs to offer and I prefer to not taste the same grass that the cow I'm eating was eating and would much rather rather enjoy a nice ale or stout with my burger.

We were jonesin' for burgers and Yelped up our options in the neighborhood. So glad we picked Bareburger! The options are abundant and the burgers were amazing! I prefer bison over beef any day and was happy to see this as an easy option on the menu (on a more adventurous future visit perhaps I'll try elk or ostrich...). The menu was fun as you get to pick the "style" (read: toppings) for your burger, then the protein, and then the bun. Walked right in on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the cool atmosphere, delicious smokey burgers (we went with the Western style bison burgers), and very well priced beer (what else would you drink with a burger after all?). A burger was filling enough for me, but I did spot some onion rings walk by that looked mighty tasty.

Can't believe I waited this long to try them out. The selections are awesome. The curry ketchup is addictive. Our server was fantastic. I prefer them over 5 guys & shake shack. They are only getting 4 stars because the burgers were good but not WOW. Will be going there every time we are in the burger mood. Hope the other locations hold up to the high standard.

Are you craving a thick burger that is flavorful and juicy, but that won't make you feel greasy and sick after? Then this is the place! They also have a lot of interesting options such as ostrich, bison, and boar. I had an ostrich burger for the first time tonight, it was delicious!

Ok so I have had an issues with all of the Bare Burgers I've been to the first time around. I have to say that I was not expecting much from this Bare Burger (being my first time was last night) and I always have a problem of some kind with the first visit. Let me start off by saying they started at 3/5 stars. My girlfriend and I walk in- we are greeted and seated at a two-person table. I do not like to have my back turned to people and I was uncomfortable. I know booths are reserved for 4 people. I kindly asked the hostess to seat myself and my girlfriend at a booth that was available. I know it's not protocol but I thought I would ask. Being that it was 8:30PM at night on a Sunday, I felt like there was not going to be a huge rush and I told her I was going to be quick! Ok- so we were sat at the booth. 4/5 Stars. We waited about 10 minutes with two waitresses walking past us looking. Got frustrated because we were being ignored. 2/5 Stars. I was super hungry and getting very emotionally unstable. I wanted to scream. Sorry Yelpers if you have to read this. I finally made dead-on eye contact with one of the waitresses. She was very nice. I ordered a Ginger-root (as I always do) in a bottle. They were out of it. WTF! Out of a beverage? No! *sniffle*. She offered us a regular ginger-ale on the house. I declined and opted to order a root beer. Now they're looking at 2.5 Stars as a review. We finally got our food after waiting what I felt was an unusually long wait for Bare Burger. We got our burgers finally! It seemed forever (not only because were we hungry) but because it took forever. Nonetheless, our burgers were awesome. I had a great meal. We each ordered a burger. I had the Maple Bacon CheeseBareburger. I didn't get why the bacon was too overcooked. Made no sense. It was still good- only the bacon was tough. Still a great burger. My girl ordered the Canadian. AMAZING. She even said that out of our escapades to Bare Burgers, this was the best experience food-wise yet. Great! So now they're at 3.5/5 Stars. So the waitress comes back to us and asks if we wanted to get dessert. Initial reaction was no. Then I said- why not!? We had dessert. It was fantastic. It was better than our dessert experience at the other Bare Burger in the East Village 2nd avenue location. Oh here's the kicker- we used a groupon I had. The root beers were on the house. 5/5 Stars. 5/5 for The Food 4/5 for The Service 5/5 for the Atmosphere and location 5/5 for the Experience. As I was leaving- the hostess poked fun at me for taking such a long time because I promised to leave quickly since I was occupying a booth. So I like to enjoy the burger and we opted for dessert AND the waitresses took forever to take our order AND the food took forever to get to us. I ate mine in 9 bites. She was really cool and fun about it though. I like sense of humor! 5/5 here. Can't go wrong I guess.

The lamb burger was excellent - incredibly juicy and went well with the onion rings. I didn't have the shake, but my friends did, and they raved. The place was packed, and we had to wait a while, but ultimately we went to the bar next door, and the staff texted us when our table was ready, which was awesome!

After visiting another Bareburger location, I gotta give it up - this location is owning it. Order a Maple Bacon Cheeseburger to-go and it was heaven. Cooked perfectly (I asked for it rare, they sounded skeptical, so for their sake I said medium-rare). It was hefty, reddish-pink, and oh so tender and flavorful. Little pricey, but man they made a mean burger. Keep up the good work Chelsea crew.

We had a bison burger with smoked maple bacon and slaw and an elk burger with jalapeno and chipotle dressing, both off the menu and both blew our socks off. We shared an order of fries but also added two sauce and one order of blueberry soda... everything was just fantastic. And more important to us - gluten free buns!

100% organic, great tasting burgers! Great concept -- pick your meat (beef, bison, turkey, veggie, elk!), how you want it prepared and your bun. Yum. Service from door to table was fantastic. Wish we had these in CA!

Excellent burgers, great fries and dipping sauces; love the no-corn-syrup ketchup. Service was great and super-fast on a midweek early evening. I like the decor concept of repurposed wood, but their background music system also sounded like it was made out of repurposed wood. Just turn it off, people; it's okay to have a restaurant with no music for once.

The menu and beer selection was really great. The food however, was just so-so and the service was terrible. I might try this place again but I'd make sure to leave plenty of time for waiting :)

Wow! I just happened by and stopped in - and I'm glad I did! A great burger (I had the Ruby), great hostess and wait staff, a crisp and refreshing organic beer and great onion rings. A fab experience that I'll be repeating. Next time, bison...next time, ostrich...next time, wild boar...next time...elk! Gotta spread the word!

I was there last weekend with a couple of friends and had the western burger and the Cobb salad. We really don't eat burgers but this did not feel like we had a bad greasy meal. The service was impeccable, we got our food in not time and our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. Will highly recommend it to anyone who is in the mood for burgers and more!!!

Best new addition to the 8th ave stroll! Just as good as the other locations but I'm partial to the service and recommendations that Natalie gave. It was a great experience with food and atmosphere. The only restaurant choice for gourmet burgers and the like!

It's a must have for anyone living/visiting NY. One of the best burgers I've had in my life. The Ruby has spectacular pastrami on top of an organic meat of your choice and the brioche buns are a perfect compliment to the meal. I also recommend the sweet potato croq's. Dip those in some of the apple chutney and it's bliss.

90's music and good burgers. This place is really swell. You really can get any kind of dead animal you want on a bun. They also have an eccentric collection of beverages to choose from if you're rich and can afford something other than the free water (everything is pricey, but quality).

I went to Bareburger after seeing a promotion on Groupon. I love a good burger, so I thought I would give it a shot. We arrived around 1:00 on a Sunday to find the 8th Ave location busy, but not crammed. We were seated immediately, and the waitstaff did a great job if being attentive without being overbearing. In a nutshell, Bareburger offers different preperations of burgers (think different cheese, veggies and condiments) with your choice of meat for the patty (quite a few options here, including ostritch and boar). I had the "Ruby" with wild boar. I have to say, there was a lot going on with this burger with bacon, pastrami and a bunch of other stuff on it, but it all worked. Definitely not your standard burger. It was cooked correctly, well seasoned and very flavorful. I would definitely recommend Bareburger if you are looking for a different kind of burger. And although I didn't have one, I would bet that a more classic preperation would be pretty good as well.

Great food! Gets my vote for Best new burger in town. & the fries are the BEST. George, the owner in Chelsea was so nice & friendly. Great organic shakes, the beef burger was amazing. Everything was fresh, good service & super tasty. I will be back every week... Great place. Can't wait to try the lamb & turkey burgers! (& Fried Chicken & waffles for brunch!) KK

These guys don't get it- the burger was perfected 50 years ago. I came in and tried to order a plain burger, one which wasn't one of their trademarkable, proprietary sandwiches, and it took multiple employees to figure out how to trick the system into giving it to me. Staff was courteous.

Hard to believe I just ate such healthy food. Came here a few days ago for the first time and I couldn't wait to come back. Great (healthy) food, great service and casual atmhere makes this a great spot to grab a bite after the gym or casual sit down dinner. I'm very happy a new restaurant opened up so close to my place. And Mario my server was terrific. Attentive and friendly.

I've been to the west village one as well, also 5 stars. The food is just spot on. I would give this location 6 stars if it were possible. The service was top notch and the sauces tasted better than the other location. I can't wait to hit them all!

After hearing amazing things about this place for months and reading awesome yelp reviews, I figured Bareburger couldn't live up to the hype. I finally went in today, and I was amazed to find that this place is just as delicious as everyone says it is. I loved my California turkey burger and onion rings. They were both so delicious!! The only reason Bareburger doesn't get 5 stars is the price. I am absolutely shocked by how expensive their burgers are.

Great burgers and great lighter alternatives! Totally recommend the elk party either as a burger or over a house salad. It was perfectly cooked (I like it medium rare) and the meat was tender and juicy (even though it's supposed to have 8% fat

i looooove burgers. just hit up bareburger last night b/c my friend had been raving about it. & she was right... so good! the only other place that i think is comparable is... rare burger (which reminds me... i gotta do a review for them). but, back to bareburger... its organic and free ranged! yayyy! not that i'm a crazy my body is a temple type of person... but, i really shove some terribly fatty oily probably cancer inducing foods into my body in the pursuit of eating.... and therefore my happiness. sooo if a restaurant can get me to eat healthy in any way at all... gotta give that a star. i got the roadhouse burger (yeah, i went boring with organic beef.. but, i was in the me caveman, me eat beef mode). the burgers are a great size, very moist, ordered it medium-rare and it actually came out medium-rare! and i love avocadosssss (thats why i have such a huge ass... lol)~~ extra + for adding huge slices and not stinging out on it. as for ambiance... its a burger joint. in comparison to the other burger powerhouse... shake shack. BAREBURGER IS SOOOOOOOOOOO much better. & the prices are around the same. also, you get more for your buck @ bareburger. taste? i finished my burger before my boyfriend did. lol, i was straight up nodding and eating at whatever he was saying. seriously, that burger was priority #1. extras? get the fries & onion ring combo~~ so worth itttt. & you get to sample their yummy sauces (comes w/4). TIPS FOR WHEN YOU GO! 1) groupon has a deal... under groupon now (gotta use it the same day) 2) highline is nearby... walk around and work up hunger before.

first there was astoria, then there was midtown east, then the village, and then yay there is one near me in chelsea... this place is the BOMB! i always order the same thing... "the california" with turkey and i switch up the bread... sometimes when i'm in a gluten free mood, there is that option. otherwise, there is the multi-grain which let's face it, really tastes better. organic, tasty, decently priced... what reason is there to stop eating here? p.s. i just found out that they're opening one up in the east village. seems like they're on a rapid expansion plan... hope the quality does not diminish!

Awesome place to take kids. Excellent kids menu that is inexpensive and included a main, fruit, veggie and fries....for less than $7. Plus, the adult food was amazing. The shakes are to die for. Cartoons were playing on the TV so the kids had a great time. The waiter was SO nice. We will go back for sure!

Organic? Sustainable? Eco-friendly? Ignore all of that. Focus on the food. The rest is just icing on the cake, or bacon on your burger. Do you like bison? Elk? Lamb? Boar? Ostrich? If you're answer is "I don't know", as mine was you can go to this place and you'll be sure to find out. The waiters will help you pair your desired meat to a good burger. They've got great selections. My favorite: the western with the recommended bison medium rare. So juicy and tasty. Also, do yourself a favor and order the fries or the hush puppies. They both come with sauces that are out of this world. And as an added bonus, just go ahead and get an extra pesto mayo. You'll thank me later. To summarize: if you're hungry for a big hearty burger, look no further. And also they're hippy and stuff. Eco-conscious and certified organic. Where hippies and meat-eaters can come together and enjoy a mighty fine burger. UPDATE: The pesto mayo has been phased out of the menu. (OH, THE HORROR!) As an alternative, get the basil-pesto sauce and order some mayo on the side and mix to your liking. Seriously, so good with their fries. Or the hush-puppies. Or on the burger.

Burgers are quite delicious, although nothing "out of this world". SO many choices Burger wasn't nearly as presentable (sloppy), nor delicious, when I ordered for pick-up. A tad bit overpriced and the burgers do not come with fries. I paid $28 for zucchini sticks, a veggie burger, and fries. Fries were average, but taste delicious when you drench them in one of their special sauces! Overall, worth checking out Bareburger if you are on a NYC Hamburger Adventure like me. Nothing special with the ambiance...somewhat diner-like, which doesn't match the price of their food.

This is a sit-down restaurant with a unique take on burgers. It features a variety of unique, organic ingredients along with what I would consider to be gourmet burgers. You can have the classic beef burger, but you can also substitute it for things like ostrich, wild boar, elk, lamb, or bison. It's great because it gives you the chance to be as adventurous or traditional as you care to be. With this being my first visit, I decided to take a more traditional approach. I ordered the "Original" beef burger on brioche, which came with Colby cheese, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, raw red onions, and Bareburger "special" sauce. I also added some ketchup and mustard once it was served. The beef tasted incredibly fresh while being well-seasoned and it was cooked absolutely perfectly. It was juicy but not overly greasy and the texture of the meat was excellent. I could really tell the difference between the quality of the meat being used at Bareburger compared to what you might get at a typical chain restaurant. Along with the beef, the other toppings also tasted great and the Bareburger special sauce was a perfect complement. It reminded me of a Thousand Island, Big Mac Special Sauce kind-of spread but it was much lighter and the flavor didn't overpower any of the other ingredients at all. Also, having a burger on fresh brioche...ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?! Where has this idea been all my life? All other types of sandwich bread are now dead to me. The brioche at Bareburger was so good it was ridiculous.

This place definitely jumped up one star for today's meal. It is almost as though Bareburger read my reviews and when I came in, knew it was me and wanted to give me a better dining experience than last time. I really do not think that happened at all, but it had the feel of it. I split the big bacon burger with portabello shroom in a lettuce wrap. There was actually shroomage in both halves this time as opposed to last time. The waiter got the fries order right this time and they were hot off the presses fries - right out of the deep fryer. The waiter knew I was splitting my meal and provided us an additional plate. We also tried for the first time the cranberry salad as a small side. Oh my was that bangin - such a refreshing salad to combo with the burger and fries. The server constantly checked on us and kept filling the water pitcher up. Bareburger did it right this time. This is by the far the best location. I'll be back here at some point in the near future.

Well here is my first review in a very long time. The lack of reviews is partly due to not having enough time as well as the sub-urbanization or our lives out in CT. Anyway, I found myself in the Chelsea area and this place certainly had very interesting selections, exotic burgers at a premium price, but what I liked the best was the fact that there were organic options across the menu. Granted the prices are high in relation to what you are getting. However, the quality off the burgers beats Shake Shack and the other pretenders by a mile. I do agree with most of the reviews that $11.99 for a burger without sides is simply too high

A few Fridays ago, my friends and I wanted to get burgers in preparation for running the marathon that Sunday. We were a party of six and the hostess wouldn't seat us until our entire party had arrived - pretty standard practice in NYC. If you've been to this location, you know there are only a couple of tables that fit a party of six (most tables are two-tops). We were 5 of 6 when one of the larger booths opened up. I was approaching the hostess to ask if we could go ahead and snag the table, especially because our 6th was only a couple blocks away; however, before I got to her, they sat a party of three. It wouldn't have been a big deal, but 10 minutes later they sat a 4th person at that table... very upset that they (1) told us they wouldn't seat us until our full party was there - when obviously they did for that party of 4, (2) they had given away the large booth, and (3) we had been there for a good hour at that point... I asked the hostess for an explanation, she said she thought they were a party of 3 and didn't realized they had a fourth...however, I didn't believe her because they had put down four menus. Needless to say, we left and found delicious burgers at Pounds and Ounces across the street. After two poor experiences at Bareburger, I will not be going back for another try.

Thank you Google Offers. Thank you for giving me the incentive to try this place. Boyf and I walked in around 630pm on a Sunday evening. It was moderately busy. There was a family of four waiting to be seated but our party of two was seated immediately. What I love most is the option to choose. This is an affordable place selling organic and grass fed meats. One has the choice to choose between Elk, Bison, turkey, Wild Boar, beef, etc along with the type of bread followed by the other components of your perfect burger. Bareburger made it easy for me by listing the types of burgers and recommending the meat. I chose the Maple Bacon Burger with the Bison, Medium. I also ordered onion rings and cole slaw for my sides. The burger, on its butter brioche bun was so incredibly juicy but without the drippage of grease. Bison is a lean meat and is very flavorful. The addition of the smoky sweet bacon and the butter brioche bun made this a very tasty burger! The onion rings are crispy and not too greasy. As a matter of fact, i was looking to burn through so many napkins but i only ruined one napkin. Take that Greasy competition! The thing I am writing home about is the cole slaw. Red cabbage shaved thin with thinly shaved red onion in a mason jar with mayo and black pepper. It could be my love of mason jars talking but then again, i do love me some homemade coleslaw... it was addicting. I made it my business to finish the cole slaw and THEN worry about the burger. The poor onion rings stared back at me with loathing eyes...They were good but my heart belongs forever to the cole slaw. Boyf ordered a vanilla milkshake that took a while to come but when it did it was smooth and creamy and reminded me of the Mister Softee soft serve i used to got bat shit crazy over as a child.

came back recently to use my last google offer. i got the buttermilk fried chicken on the whole grain bun with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. to my surprise, the friend chicken was really good. i wasn't sure what to expect, but i was pleasantly surprised. the piece of chicken is a good size and it tasted really good. it wasn't too greasy and i loved the crunch. one complaint is that i wish it was maybe 8 oz instead of 6 oz. i left feeling content, not full. my dining partner got the wild boar burger and that was a little dry to me. it didn't make an serious impressions. it was just okay. if you decide to come on a friday around 6pm, be prepared to wait. there were so many people. i don't get why it's so popular. also, don't sit by the door. there is a draft. so it seems like they have a problem with AC in the summer and a problem with heat in the winter. i won't be coming back to this location any time soon even though i had a satisfying meal. i'd like to eat in comfort with a comfortable temperature.

Finally a place in the nabe worth returning to. Love the atmosphere: rustic, manly, creative and artistic--very Bozeman, Montana-ish. We grabbed a couple beers (great selection) and waited for a table. There's not a lot of room for this, so try to make a reservation or come off-peak. Food: very, very good. Love the selection of meat for your burger: beef, elk, bison, ostrich, boar. Our waiter was incredibly informative and obviously enjoyed sharing his knowledge. I tried the habanero burger with elk. Loved the unique flavor of the meat, but it was overcooked and the habanero name was misleading, it wasn't spicy at all. Sides were good. I'll definitely come back to try other burger concoctions.

Been a fan of this place for almost 3 years!! Very good place people and FOOOD!! So far my favorite is the Lamb cooked medium well - can go with any cheese and bread but try the multi grain and yogurt with cucumber; unforgettable! Occasionally they have offers on google. Good place for family kids visitors and grannies too !!

I've been looking for a place that has a decent veggie burger and I'm so happy i found this place! I ordered the Veggie Big Blue Bacon (sans the bacon) on the brioche bun with an order of fries. I haven't had such a good veggie burger in a while, I really want to come back and try the other options they have, especially the ones with avocado. The place is nice and casual and the only downside that it is a bit pricey for a burger place... burger and fries was about 17 dollars, and it was take out so I'm assuming if you get table service you'd be paying even more.

There's nothing better than feeling like a burger and going into a place that has everything organic &/or locally sourced. The lunch special can't be beat and the blueberry cane juice soda was a nice treat. The fries are great as is the super thick cut bacon. It's also a nice option to get your burger in a lettuce wrap. They do it so nicely. Plus, they're quick, reasonable and tasty. I'm a fan!

Figured it was time to review Bareburger considering I made my second visit recently. This spot serves organic burgers with some interesting options you typically wouldn't find at other burger spots including elk, ostrich and wild boar. I'm not that adventurous with my choice of meat so I'm definitely an organic beef type of girl. I chose the bareburger supreme this time around which is topped with colby jack, gourmet battered onion rings, blackened maple bacon, lettuce, chopped french fries and the bareburger special sauce. It sounds better than it tastes but that's because the supreme option sounds so damn epic. It was good enough but definitely lacked in some areas... my bacon for example was pretty much a long strip of fat and the bun couldn't be anymore greasy. The flavor didn't necessarily blow me away either. I understand this spot is organic but it's also a chain and I think paying $11.95 for a burger with no sides is pretty whack. For such a casual chain I feel the prices don't match the feel of this place. Maybe they should consider a combo add on option (side/drink) in the near future.

The food at Bareburger is good and dependable - I have been to this one and the one in Park Sope, so this is more for the location. The first time I came here, I was with a friend. The place was pretty packed and we had the option of sitting at the "Community Table." This was not offered at the Park Slope location. Basically you sit with a bunch of random people around the table and share the space. I was fine with it, but my guest was not. Just be aware this is an option. The second time I went with my sister and we sat at the hightables. No problem. For the food, love the burgers!! They just come as the burger so get a side of fries with the various dipping sauces. Yum.

Craving something wild and natural? Burger lovers and adventurous eaters will find comfort at this burger joint. Whether you're in the mood to try ostrich, elk, bison or just a good ol' traditional burger, you will leave here satisfied and with plans to return for more. Given that it's my first time, I opted for the traditional all beef burger but on a brioche bun. Expect a bistro burger quality minus the grease and instead a lot of wholesomeness-- if that even makes sense to you. Basically, the burger tastes healthy and grass fed. Can't believe I'm saying this but it could use an additional dash of salt. The fries and onion rings were just the same in terms of very little salt and a more wholesome texture. My friend had the Mediterranean burger (think Greek ingredients like yogurt, mint, cucumber) with turkey meat. For a party of two, tis enough to share the sides like onions + fries and their yummy homemade coleslaw. If burger isn't calling out to you, try their amazing selection of sandwiches. And if you happen to be in the area during lunch time, get their lunch special. For $11.95, you get the traditional burger, soda and fries but just a dollar more grants you a beer. Now, that's what I call a steal! Super friendly service, impressive selection of food and ubiquitous electric outlets, I am eager to come back and try something different. Note, you can dine solo without feeling self-conscious. (When I was here, the number of people who ate alone were equally proportionate to those dining with another person.)

I was in the city earlier and decided to go to Groupon to see if I could get a deal to use right away on lunch. I ended up buying a Groupon for Bareburger in Cheslea. I wanted to try something different but didn't go for the ostrich or elk... maybe next time. I chickened out (pun intended) and I had the Bareburger Supreme with Cajun Chicken since the supreme comes with french fries on it. I wanted to try the fries but also thought the natural milk shakes were worth a try too since I was there. However the food is pretty pricey for a burger joint so I stuck with the burger and a strawberry milkshake. Both were pretty good and I wasn't disappointed. And I must say that the Cajun chicken was very tender and flavorful. I was impressed. I don't think that will be my last time at Bareburger and I may try something wild next time :].

Bareburger Chelsea opened about a year ago and it has been a great addition to the neighborhood. I am a burger lover, but also want to be healthy in my eating decisions and Bearburger lets me do that. I love the barest burger, build your burger option. The black bean patty is my current obsession and new favorite, but I also love the bison and turkey patties as well. The prices can seem a little high for a burger, but the burgers are huge and well worth the money. I will say that sometime the place can get busy and it seems they are a little disorganized and wait times can be long. Last night they put cheese on my burger, which I didn't order, but we got our order to go so there want much I could do about it. Next time, I will know to check my order before leaving.

I came here with my friend who wanted to find a burger place to eat and we found this to be the closest location from where we were. We went in and I loved the style of the restaurant; it's a really chill place to eat like no one would judge you feel. The waitress was really nice and sweet and knew the whole menu. We asked her for recommendations (the menu has a 'build your own burger' and she gave us so many varieties but the burger is HUGE so one is going to stuff your tummy! The burger: -fresh veggies -actually meat (not like mcD) -whole grain bun! (they have others too but this one tastes really good) -awesome presentation I also ordered fries and rings. The fries were crunchy and flavorful. the rings were legit, like one of the best places with the rings. my friend ordered a peanut butter banana milk shake and they messed it up giving my friend a chocolate peanut butter shake instead (reason i gave them 4 stars). and then the dude who made the drinks gulped down the milkshake in front of us LOL Overall, great place to chill and have some legit old-school burger and fries. this is a place i would definitely go back to.

WOW! one of the best burgers I've ever had. I got the bison which was really good but my boyfriend got the ostrich which was AMAZING. I am dying to go back for this burger. They only serve beer, wine, and sangria. We got the sangria which was pretty good. Its all organic options so nothing we had heard of before. The fried pickles were delicious as were the regular pickle chips (we got the sampler) the fried sweet potatoes were okay. I hated that our table was covered in appetizers we had barely touched when they brought out of burgers. This prevented us from being able to enjoy the first course. But I will absolutely go back for the burger.

This place gets 5 stars because... -They are organic. -They have gluten-free burger buns. Sorry other places, but a wilted piece of lettuce for a wrap doesn't cut it. -Their veggie burger is a real burger, it doesn't fall apart. No big hunks of veggies waiting to drop at any moment. -Service. Friendliest staff at this location by far. Park Slope was nice too, but no comparison. Our server's jovial, personable attitude rounded out the experience. We came here sort of on a whim. After a romantic walk down The High Line, we wanted something that could fulfill both our appetites. Mine, for some place organic, and my gf's for a restaurant that does gluten-free. Bareburger was both, PLUS only a short walk from the Line? Bingo! Weren't too hungry so we split the veggie burger with a GF bun and an order of fries. We later regretted this decision to split, but that was easily rectified in our return a couple of days later. The burger, as I said, was perfection. I hate hate hate when you get a veggie burger that tries to show off how "healthy" it is by having big chunks of carrot or peas in it and then it inevitably falls apart and out the side of the bun, crumbling before your eyes. Bareburger did no such thing. Stayed intact, and delicious, the entire time. We got it California style (lol which always just means with avocado) and it was awesome. The fries were great as well. Not the best I've ever had, but damn good and made to look even better along side that delicious little bundle of vegetarian heaven. Loved the ambiance of sitting by the huge open window and doing some people watching with our meal. I have yet to find another place (and I've tried every veggie burger from NY to San Diego. ok, I hyperbolize but you get it) that comes close in integrating gluten free and deliciousness. Bareburger, you are 2,500 miles away now, but missed everyday.

I've ordered online from this place probably 8 times and always enjoyed their food with no problem. The one time I go to sit down there with a friend, they let me down. I ordered a medium rare "Southern" elk burger and got a well done elk burger. Really I have no quarrels with effing up a dish, they were busy and overwhelmed (cry me a river) but at least man up about it. My meal time was doubled because of a chef or server's error so they should've at least discounted the meal. I guess this experience just strengthens my belief that if you have a restaurant in NY you can get away with inferior service and still get enough volume of patrons not to have to worry about it. Also, if my experience with bareburger on a computer was better than my in person experience, I should just give up on humanity... Haven't they seen Terminator or Wall-E?! We need to help each other out, human to human, so we don't get taken over by robots!!!!

I believe this location is not as great as the St. Mark's. Granted, this was only the second time I have had BareBurger but the bison red pepper burger I ordered tasted pretty plain... What stayed delightful was their pistachio milk shake--HEAVEN.

Edit: 4/8/2013 The CEO of Bareburger reached out to me to apologize and let me know that they are taking steps to rectify the issue (hiring more drivers, etc.). For the good customer service I have raised my score from 1 star to 2. I will give them a second chance but it better have improved! If so, I will update my rating accordingly. Original Review: I am very disappointed. I placed an order at 11:57am for a burger, fries and side of ranch. At 1:20pm I called them asking where my food was. The person couldn't tell me if my food was out for delivery or not, only that there wasn't a bag with my name on it on the counter so it must have gone out. 20 mins after that it finally arrived; one of the most pitiful looking excuses for a $20 burger and fries I have ever seen. Sitting in the bag for so long had reduced everything to soggy mush. The cheese, once melted, had congealed into a cold, shapeless mass. The fries were cold, limp, and missing the side of ranch I had ordered. Based on their accolades this is suredly a case of poor management of their delivery service. If you need more drivers for high volume situations, hire more drivers. A 2 hour wait time for food that was cooked at least an hour before is not acceptable. Especially not for a Michelin recommended restaurant. Sad to say I will never eat here again.

One of the best burgers in the city with a wide range of meat options. The service was fun and very tech savvy which made the experience convenient. The Sangria was delicious and full of fresh fruit. The fries are crunchy and hot, the burger meat made to order, very juicy. Go hungry leave very full and happy.

What draws you in is the fact that this place has those odd-sounding elk and ostrich and bison burgers. I had a bison burger myself. Medium rare. Cooked just right. LOADED with fries and onion rings on the side. I also tried a little bit of the regular burger, and I was thoroughly impressed. The one major drawback of the place was that the milkshakes were neither thick nor very impressive. Considering that this IS a burger joint, one would expect the milkshakes to be held to high standards, as well. I wasn't as impressed as I was with the burgers. It's noisy, but that's to be expected at most burger joints in the city. Overall, a very good choice for some very good burgers. For milkshakes, try something else.

Came here with my boyfriend and friends and had an amazing time! Mario, our server, was awesome - had good suggestions and created our experience. I had the Mediterranean with lamb, my boyfriend had the roadhouse with wild boar and our other two friends had the bison, one roadhouse style and the other western style. The milkshakes were fantastic as well. Will be back soon :)

great service, hate the whole iPhone ordering thing, when I see those I want to slap it out of the waiters hand, but hey the options are endless and the burgers are great.... can't wait to go back and try the milkshake....

My dining experience here was about a month ago, so I'm going to limit this review mostly to service aspects, as I'm not sure I can do justice to a description of the food. That said, I will say this. I am a vegetarian, and was a little worried when my local friends said we we're meeting at a burger joint, but I left very satisfied and had enough options that it took me at least 20 minutes to make up my mind (though some of the delay was due to catching up with old friends). Basically the front of house staff knocked it so completely out of the park that the food could have been cardboard cutouts and I would probably still give this place at least three and a half stars. I've worked in food service and hospitality for over a decade so I'm well aware of all the things that guests can do to piss off restaurant staff, and we did about as many of those things as possible. We asked about a million questions, contradicted each others orders, took easily 30 minutes to order food, requested substitutions, and then on top of that, about 10 minutes after we finally ordered food, found out another friend was on her way to join us for a beer. We were already a party of six, and now had to ask them to find us a table to seat 7 (and that seventh person would only wind up ordering one beer.) They came right back to tell us that there would be a table available within 10 minutes, more than soon enough to accommodate our seventh. Our servers (LOVE the fact that we were helped by no less than 3 different servers without ever creating any confusion) checked in with us at least twice to let us know that the table was clearing, and then that it was ready. They then helped us transition all our assorted apps and beers and accoutrements, simply asking that we try to sit in similar order at the new table so that they could deliver our food accurately.... which we were more than happy to do... and the food was delivered not only accurately, but quickly, and with friendly smiling faces! Wow. Awesome... I should probably mention that the place was packed during this process. The staff continued to impress with warm, personal, charming service for the rest of the evening, even as we stayed well beyond closing time. We were never rushed or pressured, and felt genuinely appreciated even as we left. Stunning commitment to the culture of hospitality. If any managers or owners of Bareburger read this review, first, great job hiring and coaching your staff, second, I hope you were able to arrange for one hell of a holiday party or bonus for your servers because they are solid effin gold!

I can't express to you in words how much we love this place!!! My son is gluten free and its one of the few places where he can get a burger with a bun and that makes him soooooooo happy!! Fresh fries, quality meats and great service!! One of the gems in NYC!!!

One of the best burgers I've had in the city. I had the Roadhouse burger with bison meat on a brioche bun...damn. Also they have pitchers of beer, which automatically gives them another star. My only complaint was that my party (7 of us) had to wait about 45 minutes for a table, when the place wasn't even that busy and there were two tables in the front that they could have pushed together.

For All Those Times You Crave Ostrich or Elk Should you try? A little iffy on this one. The burgers don't have the most flavor, but you do get the chance to eat different meats. Barebugers have been multiplying like rabbits, sprouting up in more and more locations throughout the city. The organic burger joint offers a bunch of different choices, from pre-set toppings to the bread to (most importantly) the meat. Of course they have your standard organic beef and veggie burgers, but they also offer Organic Bison, Wild Boar, Ostrich, and Elk. With limited opportunities to try these gamey meats, I jumped on my chance and got the Original Wild Boar burger (Colby jack, lettuce, tomato, raw red onion and bareburger special sauce; $11.87 after tax). Unfamiliar with how to cook wild boar, I ordered mine well done, thinking since it's pork it should be cooked all the way. A friend ordered the same burger medium well, and it came well done so that might be the only way to serve it. The meat itself turned out to be a lot leaner than I expected. And with very lean meats, they overcook easily and tend to turn out dry, as was the case with this burger. Dryness aside, I think they could have added a bit more seasoning to the meat itself. The toppings were decent, and although I thought it was going to be a slice of lettuce, I actually preferred the more lettuce slaw they gave instead. The special sauce was pretty good, but I think it's become the standard protocol to call every mayo-ketchup-based sauce "special sauce". I also tried the Fried Bread & Butter Pickle Chips (made with Bubbies bread and butter pickle chips, served with horseradish mayo; $6.95), which were really tasty. The breading was incredibly crunchy and the sweetness from the bread and butter pickles were a nice touch. Definitely get these if you go. Now if you're the type of person who prefers juicy burgers (ie enough fat in the meat) like me, this may not be the best option. These burgers tend to lean towards the healthier side, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since they offer a wide range of meats. I'd consider going back to try me some ostrich or bison.

I've only ever ordered-in, so I can't speak to the ambiance of the restaurant. But here's what I can say: - Delivery is quick - Coworkers order and enjoy the salads - don't assume that they only have burgers, the salads are big and very popular. - Burgers are very good - I usually like mine medium-rare, though I recommend ordering medium. They tend to err on the rare side, and I've been disappointed at how red the burger was when I ordered medium-rare. - French fries are YUM - they taste like the fries I used to eat on the ski mountain as a kid. Crispy and delicious. - Best of all is the dipping sauces for the french fries - I never know the names of the ones I like and don't, so I just order them all and eat the good ones. Often I order lunch from Bare Burger because I'm craving the dipping sauce and french fries, so don't skip that part! I only wish they delivered or had a location closer to the Upper West Side. Then I'd probably be a regular.

I found out about this place because my trainer works here and she said it was awesome. So, I trust her with my form, I should trust her with my food choice for the day, right? OF COURSE! Well at least, I'm glad I did in this case. She was not there the day I went. I tried to surprise her but, oh well, I figured, maybe next time. And after eating there I know, there WILL BE a next time! Whoo! I mainly eat vegetarian, vegan style food, so a place that specializes in burgers, I wasn't too keen on. Yet, Once in a while I'll have my meat day, so I figured I would try this place. I had no idea they had vegetarian and vegan options here too! They offered a black bean burger and also a mushroom burger. I asked about both, but was inclined to have, what i call, a dirty bean burger. I chose toppings that would go on maybe a regular sweaty burger, and put it on my bean burger- and Oh yeah, it was something alright! I love the sweet potato appetizer. because of the two dipping sauces, Chipotle and a kind of golden mustard, and the quality of the sweet potato used, it really made the dish pop for me. ten come in all. the sweet potato ball can stand on its own to me, no sauce needed-it's that good! I love how they have different styles set up, of how you could dress your burger, and the suggested meat to go with, if you choose that style. The burgers, to me, are not insanely large, and I appreciate that. But they are filling! the black bean was a bit disappointing to me, because it was pretty "clean" of any taste. I was looking to have a bean "patty" reminiscent of the one Good Health sells, which seems more seasoned. For this burger attempt, the trimmings made the burger. I was still happy with it overall. This place, so far to me, is not about the desserts. I had only one, to be fair, so maybe I need to try another one. The Vegan Carrot cake, tasted like a regular boxed cake purchased from the store. It was cold and there was nothing interesting about it. It reminded me of the ones I used to get as a child for 25 cents in the corner store. My boyfriend's Peanut butter vanilla milk shake though was AWESOME. I have to love him, because I would have swiped it for myself under the guise of pity. This place allows you to combine different, and as many flavors into your shake and I think that's cool. The price for the meal with tip came out to 67 dollars, which isn't bad. I went a second time with my girl friends and had the salad called the wedge. it was sooooo gooooood. It was huge though and i was full to the point where I couldn't have the milk shake I wanted to have (because you best believe I was thinking about my boyfriend's milkshake!), and had to leave. Next time. I like bareburger a lot. This location isn't large, the tables are small and they have a communal table ( I have not sat at though), and the wait staff is pretty nice and friendly. I think I'll go on a cheat day, get my trainer mad, lol!!!

Just wanted to write a quick thank you for COMPLETELY ignoring the incredibly basic notes I wrote. The mayo that I asked for you to put on the side you so kindly put on the burger anyway... And the fries that I asked for well done were limp and sad. I did not ask for this but bacon, especially turkey bacon should be crispy...not limp & soggy. Thanks so much! You're doing a great job!

I happened upon Bareburger, last night, on the way to a friend's show, at the Magnet Theater. Hungry & with some time to spare, I checked out the menu. As soon as I saw bison and ostrich, I thought, "Oh, no...this place isn't going to have anything for my vegetarian ass," but they do! And, while it ain't no Soho Park veggie burger, it's not half bad for a company that "goes there," with the exotic meats. I have to admit that, at least at first, I do judge a book by its cover and am a sucker for a well-worked theme, so this place, with it's cabin-in-the-woods decor had immediate curb appeal. They even have trivia about bears--the kind that inhabit the woods, not the kind that inhabit Chelsea--posted to the walls. What really made the visit, though, was the staff. Though stationed a little far away, in the back of the shop--making it difficult for them to easily greet guests--waitress Christina A. was the perfect combination of attentive without being overbearing. I wrote, on a comment card, that she may be the best waitress I've had, in 10 years of NYC livin', and it's true. Moreover, in today's it's-not-my-job service industry, the staff of Bareburger really seemed to support one another, as if each customer were theirs. If they continue to innovate with their vegetarian proteins, the way they are with their their animal-based ones, I can see myself there frequently.

There are many reasons why I love this place. Mostly the variety of meat, option to make your own burger and the SAUCES. I took my family here the day before Christmas Eve after a long day of touristy excursions. My sister is a farmer and eats organic/all natural whenever she can so she really appreciated how almost everything is organic/all natural. In 24 years of living, I have NEVER had a burger at McDonalds and Burger King and really appreciate a good burger (Not to sound snooty, bc i do eat their chicken but I never had the desire to try their burgers probably bc i was so spoiled with other great burger options). Anyway, there are several things that make the burger for me: mainly the meat but I love when restaurants have a variety of sauces and toppings to chose from. We each had a different kind of meat. I had the wild boar, my mom had the bison and my dad had the lamb. We also ordered a side of fries and zucchini sticks. LOVE that they give you dipping sauces. Im all about sauces if you couldnt tell already. Smoked paprika mayo was my favorite. I created my own burger and got mushrooms, smoked mozzarella, onions, tomato and the habanero chipotle mayo. It was excellent. We also ran into Stephen Baldwin while we were there. Kinda cool. I like how they have the cabin-like vibe going on with all the bear decor. Cute play on the name of the restaurant. In terms of service, it was almost too attentive. Apparently everyone helps each other out so we had several different waiters which got a little confusing because they werent all on the same page. But they were all so nice and the food so good that it didnt matter. Ill definitely be back when I want an organic, saucy, tasty burger!

So I accompanied Brian S. and Mary M. here when they were deciding between t his place and Thai food. Honestly, I was worried they might go to that really good Thai place around the corner (Silom? or something) that I've actually already reviewed. I'm not trying to pick places solely on t he basis of "Can I Yelp review it?" It's becoming sad. but this place? Totally worth it. I'm glad people dragged me there since I never would have went here on my own. Other than our waiter being a little TOO ATTENTIVE (seriously, he was super short and muscular... and ENTHUSIASTIC! I needed him to take a xanax and chill out for an hour). I got more of a classic beef burger, some fries, and a pitcher of one of their beer selections. The burger was amazing. I might come back just for that. Way better than the BRGR place that also promises organic burgers for much the same prices. The fries were pretty good, too. Not really a fan of the beer we picked, but then... I don't usually drink while eating at the same time, even when it's burgers. Generally liked the layout of this place, but it's worth noting we went in the afternoon - a little after 4:00 PM - and they weren't a lot of people patronizing the establishment. Not super affordable, but not a break-the-bank place, either. Good addition to my Chelsea eats.

Had an elk burger; daughter had good ol' beef. Both were excellent, perfectly cooked, flavorful and a decent size. I love the varied meat choices and that the beef is grass fed. The fries and onion rings were also fresh + crisp. We had to sit at the "communal" table, which I don't like (why do restaurants even have them?) and the service was friendly but super spacey. Server took forever to realize we wanted to order, other people at the table got my burger by mistake; another server tried to give me someone else's shake... I like the hunting-lodge theme decor and it could be fun place to linger if it didn't feel so cramped and busy. Before I went, I thought this was an order-at-the counter place; I don't need table service for a burger and fries. This place is already fairly pricey for what it is; having to tip 15-20% just makes the meal that much costlier. I think we ended up paying $35 for two burgers and a side of fries, no beverages. Ouch.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! This place is truly great. The organic theme of this place is awesome. The meat selection for burgers isgreat. Try a bison burger. It is so much better than traditional ground beef. They have a great menu selection if burgers aren't your thing and every dipping sauce you can think of. Mario is by far the best server! You can tell he enjoys working there and truly cares about his guests' experience. There are other locations in NYC but this one is the best! Go in and see for yourself!
