I have enjoyed a few meals here for our honeymoon and our 1 year anniversary. Food is fresh and of good quality. I will definitely visit again.

3.5 Stars. Here's the breakdown: PROS: 1) Easy access right off Exit 72 on the LIE. Located inside Hotel Indigo, right next to the Tanger Outlets. 2) Lots of menu diversity available in half or full portions, which makes it easy to share plates and try many things. 3) Food was tasty, dishes were beautifully presented, half portions were large. - Beet Salad: The beet salad was comprised of yellow and red beets shaved into strands made to look like noodles! The goat cheese mousse and toasted pistachios complimented the beets well. - Cheese plate (1/2 portion): If this was the 1/2 portion, I can't imagine how big the full size is! 3 different cheeses (cranberry goat cheese, truffled manchego, smoked gouda), with crackers, jam, fresh fruit, dried apricots & raw almonds. Yum! - Crescent Farm Duck Breast (1/2 portion): Duck was juicy and well marinated over a bed wild rice that had a great texture. - North Fork Cioppino (1/2 portion): This seafood stew was loaded with mussels, clams, shrimp, with a nicely cooked portion of halibut on top. The broth was flavorful and light! CONS: 1) Distracted atmosphere with too many TVs: I understand that the bar is the "hotel bar," and I can understand that bargoers would appreciate watching the game as they unwind. However for the diners, the big glaring TVs take away from the otherwise elegant restaurant. 2) Spotty service: Our waiter was slow and sometimes missing. He came over with drink & specials menus long after we had already been sitting down and already knew what we were going to order. He also mistakenly charged us for something on our bill-- it was simple enough to take off, but I would have overpaid $20 if I didn't catch his mistake. OVERALL: The food was good enough to overlook the missteps. I'll be back at least to have drinks and apps at the bar after a day of outlet shopping!

I stayed at Hotel Indigo for a couple of nights after my wedding. While we were there we had breakfast and dinner at Bistro 72. The breakfast started out well, with a delicious cappuccino and promising menu options. However in the end it was just ok. I had a side of hash that was very dry and tasteless, but thankfully they took it off our bill. The service was the most disappointing. Very slow even though they were not that busy. Dinner was much more enjoyable. The setting outside was very relaxing and romantic. The food was great, especially the mussels. Service was much better too. One of my drinks took a while to come out so they gave it to me on the house :)

I come here every other Thursday after work. Anthony is the bartender on Thursday nights. He is attentive and friendly. Food is above average. Some fancy items and some avg ones. I like to order. 1. Beet salad 2. Bistro 72 salad. 3. Berries and cream 4 mussles. All prepared well even late at night. If you are looking for a descent meal for dinner or later. This is a good place to go. Usually there is live music in the bar on Thursdays. Many weeks the bar is busy on Thursdays. It's not your average hotel restaurant.

Three strikes and you're out! Third and last time. The food is not good but the service is awful. Our appetizer arrived with one main course. When we asked why, the runner said,"Well, you know. I'm not your waitress." The fish taco appetizer was flavorless fish in a neon red taco, mayo heavy 'Asian cole slaw.' My lobster roll was also mayo heavy and equally flavorless. This is unacceptable in a restaurant in the East End where fish to table and farm to table reigns supreme. The French dip sandwich was for some inexplicable reason called a panini - made on some cheap hero roll. The dip was concentrated beef bouillon + msg. What gives? Awful food and service all around.

We went here because we had a groupon. Turns out you can't use it on price fix which is fine just good thing we asked. Food overall was very good calamari is a must and the bistro salad was very good as with the clam chowder. For the entrees they were hit or miss the shrimp scampi was good little dry but overall okay. The rice pilaf that came with my girlfriends salmon was terrible you could spackle the wall with it. Salmon was cooked well. Desserts are average what you would expect from a restaurant lacking a real pastry chef. The normal flourless cake, berries, ice cream stuff like that. Dessert is passable Overall I don't think I'd come here for dinner again. ALTHOUGH I will come back to sit by the bar for the reasonably priced drinks and to try a few more appetizers and maybe a burger or sandwich. Bottom line. Entrees are Manhattan prices but not Manhattan taste The service was a totally different story. Let's just leave it at 20 mins for our drinks And we ate dessert with an empty bread basket and butter on the table which should of been cleared way before the order was even taken for dessert. And then they only cleared half our table after dinner and then it took them a good 15 more minutes afterwards to clear the rest. Plus we were the only table in the dining room on a Monday at 530.

During the Winter Jazz Festival, plan on making it over to Bistro 72 At least once to take in some great tunes and hang loose. Or saddle up to the bar for the same. Better yet, get something to eat while you are there. Just make sure you make reservations in advance if you plan on eating. On our most recent trip, we had eaten at another favorite local restaurant by design and went to the Bistro for after dinner drinks and the awesome music. Once you get inside there isnt a bad seat to both hear and see the music. The bar help was quick, friendly and professional. We waited no more than a minute to be asked if we needed help. That's a big deal since there was standing-room-only. Kudos to those tireless guys who made a great martini and were quick with a smile. Once we come back for dinner, I promise to update my review to include the food portion of Bistro 72. As for the music and the drinks, well done!

I've been here several times with my family and Bistro 72 never disappoints. The service here is pretty great. The wait staff is incredibly knowledgable about the menu, specials, drinks and desserts. Each time we've come, the wait is usually a bit long in between courses so the staff usually sends over a drink on the house which is incredibly nice. The food is always great quality and incredibly flavorful. I usually get some kind of steak, either filet mignon or a ribeye and it's always cooked perfectly and incredibly delicious. I also really like the Beet Salad. I'm not a huge fan of beets, but they use red and yellow beets and slice them incredibly thin which makes them easier to eat. It's served with a delicious goat cheese "mousse" on the top, a perfect compliment to the beets. Dessert is always great too, along with the coffee that you can get. If you're looking for a "fine casual" (fine dining with a casual atmosphere), Bistro 72 is where you want to go!

We came here for Easter lunch. The restaurant was pretty quiet and the servers were very attentive. I'm vegan and it was a thrill to have a) have vegan options and b) those vegan items clearly marked on the menu. The food was really great. We all enjoyed the entire experience and would definitely go back.

The food was fine, but the service and atmosphere would prevent me from returning. The waiter was personable but neglectful, often sighted chatting with co-workers but impossible to hail for water or bread, which should have been resupplied or offered anyway. The piano in a small in-door room on a Saturday night was played at a deafening pitch. We asked the waiter to request that it be a bit lower and he did. For five minutes, we could hear each other but then the pounding resumed. The waiter admitted he had difficulty hearing to take orders. We left without dessert because we could not have a conversation. There does not seem to be management to supervise the enterprise.

I was recently a guest at the indigo Hotel for two evening stay. The first evening my husband and I went to bistro 72 for dinner. There were three people there and we were very rudely greeted by the hostess. When the food arrived to our table the food was cold since there were only three other people in the restaurant so we couldn't understand why our food was served to us cold. The food was removed from our table and brought back to us the second time the meet was now served to us lukewarm and the potato on the plate was burnt black and served to us that way. The second evening of our stay against my husbands better judgment we returned to the restaurant for a second chance. I ordered fish that was served to me lukewarm my husband ordered a French dip sandwich. The French dip sandwich was served on a stale roll cold over cooked meat and the cheese not melted. I called over the waitress who called over the manager and the manager explained to my husband that this is impossible because the meat is kept in the steam table at a particular temperature. My husband is a chef in Manhattan and knows there was no excuse for this and the fact that the waitress made excuses and treated him like he was wrong was unacceptable. The sandwich came off the bill because once it arrived a 3rd time I had finished my meal. We did not get an apology only an attitude. The hotel was beautiful but the restaurants food was horrible and the staff was rude and unprofessional

This restaurant within Hotel Indigo East end is wonderful. My experience has always been a very "tasty" experience. Great appetizers, main courses and desserts. Specials are the way to go when ordering dinner. Fantastic BLT, burgers and salads for lunch. You will always find fresh and local ingredients which enhance the flavors of all your favorite dishes. Excellent food presentation makes you eat with your eyes, a great experience.

Good food, friendly service... high prices. After a long day at the vineyards you need a good meal to cap off the evening (and absorb some of that alcohol). Bistro 72 served as our sponge. The menu had some diverse offerings, ranging from duck to pulled pork pizza. My lady and I shared some calamari to start and that came with 3 separate dipping sauces (versions of peanut, chili, and hoisin) each gave it a very unique flavor - all very good. For dinner we stuck with the fish... I got the scallops and she got the cod based on the recommendation of the server. I must say the scallops were out of this world. They were cooked to perfection and each bite made me look forward to the next. My girlfriend's cod was ok... not exactly bursting with flavor but it was cooked well. We also tried some desserts and the apple cobbler was by far my favorite. Cindy (our waitress) was outstanding. She was friendly, patient, and helpful throughout the entire dinner. We also had breakfast here the next day... and the food was again, pretty good. I had the pancakes with bananas and strawberries inside the batter. Doesn't get any better. My lady was also happy with her egg selection. My only star deduction would be for the price. I know it tends to get a little more posh the further out on long island you go... but let's be fair. As good as my scallops were, for $30 there should've been more than just 4 and some forgettable mixed veggies on the plate.

We loved everything....almost the corn chowder...eh...the soup fell a little short with a smallish serving in a super large bowl! We had a groupon for two apps two cocktails... The light house martini was delish ... We brought our own Long Island wine. NO CORKING FEE... fun. Mew had the cheese platter,,,, to die for, great blue cheese, asiago , goat, smoked cheddar, and a nice fig jam with flat bread!!! The calamari was nice with a trio of dips. We also like the flat bread pizza ! Cappuccino and dessert! Excellent creme brûlée, flour less chocolate cake and s'mores! Fun good company, great food and waitress (shelly) awesome!!!

We came in tonight with Friends and were greeted so kindly, we were so impressed with the service as well. Our waitress Arlene was fantastic with her reccomendations. Especially with the wines! Bistro 72 is a winner!

Stayed at Indigo to enjoy jazz on the vine on the North Fork. Rooms were decorated simply but very new and well maintained. The restaurant was not so great and with so many options downtown Riverhead I probably wouldn't dine here again. The bartender, when he finally acknowledged us, has a major attitude and filled my wife's cosmo about 3/4 of the way. He never offered us another drink nor cleaned up the bar from previous customers. Dinner service was really slow and took 1 hour from the time we were seated to receiving our 1st course. Our appetizer "local vegetable pizza" should have been described as bean pizza as it had more beans then any vegetable. Entrees were just okay. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy and would not recommend.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Indigo on the living social deal and had a voucher towards dinner at Bistro 72 (because otherwise, this place is OVERPRICED). The restaurant is very nice looking, although the bar seems to dominate the layout and the dining tables are sort of pushed to the sides. In full disclosure, we did eat here on a weeknight, so they may have not had their best employees on hand. I had a steak and my wife had a lamb shank. Considering the entrees were priced in the $30 + range, I expected much better, The food was only OK for the money. In the end, we still feel like we just ate at a hotel restaurant and not what we expected. Our waitress was nice but seemed really inexperienced and unprofessional. The saving grace for Bistro 72 was their breakfast. We ate outside on the patio and had eggs benedict with lox, it was delicious and the service was great! If you go here with a Living Social voucher, I recommend using it on breakfast and going out to dinner elsewhere.

I have dined at the restaurant over three stays at Hotel Indigo. My issue with the restaurant is not so much the quality of the food (though its nothing spectacular) but what I can only describe as highway robbery. The price of food and beverages Is out of the stratosphere. For example, last nights' meal was a burger, chicken wings, a salad and three glasses of wine. The check was a staggering $121.00. The chicken wings were tasty enough but consisted of approx. 6 small wings and did not come with fries ($16.99). The burger was ok (also $16.99 but at least came with fries). Furthermore the service has run from just ok, bad, to extremely rude. The first time we dined there we had ordered rather late (after spending close to $100 at the bar). When my entree arrived room temp I asked a staff member whom I think was the manager if they could heat the food in the Microwave. That request was turned down because I was told "the kitchen was closing". Stupid of me to eat here a third time but I am a slow learner. Never again.

Last Night My Wife and I went out to dinner.. It was the first time coming to Bistro 72. We went with another couple. I was a Little high on the price side... but not over the top.. if you know what I mean. So with that being said the food was amazing.. We started off with appetizers Eastern Long Island Steam Mussels in Long Ireland Celtic Ale Broth( Only thing didn't have enough bread to soak up the broth .. ;-) .. ) and Sesame Encrusted Calamari - Cook Perfect.. For an Entree I had Pappardelle Bolognese - Seasoned Veal, Pork & Beef, Roasted Tomato Sauce. Which was Amazing. Didn't have to add any Salt or Pepper as it was seasoned perfectly. My Wife had Praline Encrusted Cod - Chardonnay Butter Cream, Golden Raisins, Parsnip Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables. I didn't taste it but my Wife said she really enjoyed it. To top of a Good Night with Amazing Food I had for dessert I had a Creme Brulee. So going back to what I said about the Price.. for what we got.. it was worth it.. Also the Service was Very good and Friendly.. I would defiantly go back and recommend this to my family and Friends

I love this place ! Dined here 3 times & enjoyed everything - Kevin's service was above & beyond ! The food , especially the scallops , is a foodies dream . Cooked to perfection . Even the complimentary roasted tomato bruschetta is a masterpiece ! I was fortunate to hear a wonderful guitarist / singer one night & that really made it special . Bravo to Chef James ! I bring different friends every time & we all leave happy & looking forward to coming back !

After visiting a vineyard and brewery earlier in the day, decided to eat at Bistro 72 which is just off of the lobby in the hotel that we were staying. Started with the cheese plate which had about 5 different cheeses, and good portions of each. The plates (I suppose understandably) were pre-made, and must have been sitting in a fridge or some other cold staging station. It was nice to receive it so quickly, but given that the cheese and slab were so cold, it actually made some of the selections less desirable. Brie (in my opinion) is always better when it is closer to room temperature (or warm) so that the softness and flavors can really be enjoyed. This brie was just cold. Followed the cheese plate with a couple of sandwiches: a BLT and the French dip. Both were just OK - nothing spectacular, but definitely was tasty at the end of a long, cold day. There is a pretty good bar at Bistro 72, with a fair number of local wines and beers in addition to the standard cast. Service was very good (so based on reading others, it can definitely be hit or miss here; we were luck), and the musician playing during dinner was a nice addition. Because of the price (all entrees $20+, drinks $10+) I might not be inclined to return, but it's hard to beat the quality of the restaurant for the hotel that I was staying.

The last two times I ate here, I was very satisfied. Last week, during my stay, I ordered the Duck Confit Wontons and Cowboy Steak. I don't recall the sauce they put on the steak, but wow! Almost as good as the Bourbon Sauce for the Wontons. The server was pleasant, always smiling and checking on the table; couldn't really ask for more. A few times in the past, they had live music; that has always been a nice touch.

Skip the calamari. Tough, chewy. A restaurant of this caliber shouldn't make such a novice error.

I've been so eager to try this place and i was not disappointed! Stopped in for restaurant week, menu was decent. I had the bistro 72 salad which was fresh and delicious, nothing special just a good salad. My husband got the beet salad which was prepared beautifully, artistry for sure (I'm just not into beets). For the main I had paparadalle bolognese-but the noodles were not paparadalle-they were lasagna noodles cut in half..maybe they ran out? It was good but again-nothing outrageous. I had serious cod envy-it was encrusted with pralines and everyone but me ordered it. It was amaZing. Dessert was a chocolate cake which was super rich-just on the cusp of too rich but really well balanced by a mint cream. My hubby got the s'mores which was fun but didn't have any chocolate component. The ambiance was awesome; a really talented female guitarist doing her own renditions of 70's songs. Beautiful decor- I can't wait to go back.

Three stars right about does it. I don't think the consistency is there yet. I've Had good food here and some that literally made me feel sick (french dip sandwhich). Very hit or miss. I don't know... something seems weird to me about having to walk through a hotel lobby to go into a restaurant anyway. Unless your there on business. It's up to you but from my experience the food is so-so. All I'm sayin is there is definitely better places to go in the area!

My husband and I are visiting Long Island for the weekend to visit wineries. We decided on dinner on Friday night based on the recommendation of some people we met at a winery earlier in the day, they live in the area, said the food was good and told us about the Groupon. We paid $25 for $50 worth of food/drinks...so basically, $25 off our bill. That helped because the prices were a little high given the area that the restaurant is in is not terribly upscale. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server came over immediately but we had not had any time to consult the drink menu so asked for a few minutes. Our water glasses were filled....and that is where the attention to detail ended. Everything took a while and we felt like an after thought to our server. We were in the main dining room and I think most of his tables must have been in the bar, since he spent most of his time in there. He would leave the kitchen and run by us with his head down and ignore us while dashing to the bar area. When we needed him he wasn't there and he barely checked on us. The food was adequate, but not worth the prices in my opinion, not even with the Groupon. Most of the items we ordered were better in theory than execution. I ordered edamame which were supposed to be seasoned with sea salt. They were bland and undercooked. The dipping sauce they were served with made them more edible, but was sort of weird as it is awkward to dip edamame in a sticky sauce...generally they are just seasoned. My husband got wings, which had good flavor but were not really cooked enough for his liking. Not to say it was raw chicken, it was cooked to temperature, but had a fatty skin thing going on...they should have been cooked so that the skin was crispier before adding sauce. We also asked for bread twice... the first time, prior to receiving the appetizers, and again after receiving the appetizers, but only received it about 2 minutes before our entrees arrived. Why put bread plates and butter knives as part of the place settings if it is so hard to get bread out to people?? So we never really got to enjoy it, which was a shame as it looked good. Entrees - I got the duck and it had the same issue with the skin as the wings. Some spots were crispy and good but most was really fatty skin that was inedible. The carrots and broccoli rabe were undercooked. The tricolor potatoes were fabulous...perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband ordered filet. The meat was not seasoned at all...but that was fixed with some salt...and it was cooked to a perfect medium as he ordered. His spinach and cauliflower mashed potatoes were wonderful! It just seems a little more attention to detail is needed in the kitchen to ensure all items are fully cooked and appetizing. I also didn't eat most of my duck and our server never came back over...another woman cleared our plates and did not ask if I wanted to wrap it, or if there was any problem with it. But definitely the most annoying part was paying the bill and the fiasco that became. The server took our credit card, left and came back with receipts, and no pen. My husband took his card and entered a tip and total amount on the receipt. We filled out a comment card and left. When we got back to our hotel I found 2 messages on my phone from the restaurant, one from the manager and be from another woman. We were accused of trying to charge the meal to a hotel room, but we aren't staying there. Obviously, I know I'm not staying there, hence the reason my husband provided his credit card to the server. I am really not sure what he did with the credit card when he walked away with it for 5 minutes, but apparently he didn't charge it. So we had to call to settle the bill and explain the situation and that we weren't trying to skip out on the bill...I mean when you give a credit card to a server and get a receipt you sign it as long as the amount is right. The manager acted like I was stupid saying "our receipts can be confusing"...ummm no but is it my job to scrutinize the receipt and ask if it is the proper receipt for a credit card vs. a room charge? Sorry, not my job. That's the server's job and I'm pretty sure it isn't my fault if he can't handle it, but thanks for blaming me. That really added to the experience...fun to have the aggravation continue even after we left the restaurant. We don't live in the area but if we find ourselves in the area again, it's extremely unlikely we would go back to Bistro 72. And it's really a shame because I wholeheartedly believe with their farm to table concept and sourcing local ingredients, where possible. They just need some tweaks to service and food quality to justify the prices.

The food here was amazing my wife made reservations else where for us too eat but with the restaurant conveniently located in the hotel we had dinner there and it was well worth it. Great ambiance, amazing presentation with our food that tasted wonderful. We liked it so much we ordered breakfast from them the next day and the waffles were so soft they melted. Get the groupon.

Nice location, inside the Hotel Indigo in Riverhead, must've passed it several times before I knew there was a restaurant in there. Its a cozy restaurant, maybe a bit on the cold side - AC was blasting in late September. The food was good, nothing FABULOUS. We had chicken wings which were overdone and the sauce was really nothing special. The jicama slaw serves with the wings was the best thing on the table. My husband had the Pork T-bone which was overdone and moe than a little dry - it was kind of hard to cut. I have the scallops which although they were delicious, 4 scallops for $30 is just ... just.... $7.50 each. There was nothing worth $7.50 each about them. The pizza we had for appetizer was delish, and the rest of the diners at the table had good fare, the chicken sandwiches good, the filet mignon tender and juicy, but the serving of salmon was also SMALL for the $. We used a groupon so cost wasn't a factor, but without it, it did seem on the high side. There were no specials, it was a Friday night, and the menu did not match what was shown online. Overall - no huge complaints - but nothing glowing either.

Had dinner here with my girlfriend after a day shopping at the outlets , we walked in and we had to wait 15-20 mins even with our reservations. There was a live person singing in the restaurant which was way too loud !!! We wait about 15 mins for the server to come over to the table ! And about another 10 mins to get our drinks , the server did not even know the beers they had on tap she said it's all from local Brewery's. We had the pizza appetizer it was nothing special at all , there were hotel guest walking through the restaurant to get to the outdoor patio.

Bland and boring. The calamari is indeed chewy and cold. Cesar salad with sundries tomatoes and bottled dressing. Wimpy bread. Bottled clam juice over the lingouine and 5 really bad clams with chopped pancetta. Holiday inn atmosphere served up by nice but untrained staff. Too bad

Great food, awesome service, and a really nice setting. the price wasnt cheap, but in my humble opinion, worth every penny. we had a groupon, made the price reasonable. we would absolutely come back, especially when they have the live entertainment again.

I'd give this place zero stars if I could. Quite possibly the worst breakfast I've ever had. How in God's name do you call yourself a "bistro" and charge $12 for an eggs benedict that's served cold with the yokes poached as solid as golf ball cores -- to two people? I feel bad for how clueless these people were. I jokingly asked the bus boy if "gravlax" was Swedish or Swiss, and he replied, "Swish." Am I that guy?

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo last Thursday night (it's pet-friendly, HOORAY!), and we ate here that night because we had a Living Social deal. The place itself is pretty cool--pretty nice layout. Modern, stone fireplace, HUGE outdoor patio (which was unusable as it was storming), etc. We had a reservation and it was pretty crowded when we arrived (I think because everyone was inside because of the storm--they had to open up what seemed like their private-party room due to overflow), so we took a seat at the bar. The bartender was REALLY nice and had actually offered us suggestions on where to walk around with our dog earlier in the day [Reeves Beach, REALLY NICE!]. So, we're at the bar and getting drinks--I liked the beers they had on tap, I think my wife had wine--and I notice some fruit flies around. Then I look at the plastic fruit tray-thingy that most bars keep stocked with lemons, limes, etc. for drinks and the things is SWARMING--dead serious, SWARMING--with fruit flies. I was really gross. We could have eaten at the bar, but we opted to take the table due to the flies. The table was good, service was a little slow, but our server, Nick I think, did a pretty decent job. It was crowded, so I'll try to give him the benefit of the doubt. I might dock this place more points if we were in a hurry, but we weren't, so it was ok that it was not super quick. I got the half-order of the duck quesadillas--REALLY GOOD!--and my wife got some sort of seafood stew-mix thing. It was ok. The broth in it was really tasty, but the fish (some sort of whitefish, clams, shrimp, and scallops, maybe?) were overcooked. We also had a salad to start which was good--with goat cheese and other stuff on it. Then we had the Turtle Cheesecake for dessert, pretty good! We would have gotten the Oreo, but they were out. Overall, if you're looking for a decent meal with a laid-back atmosphere (that will hopefully take care of the fruit fly problem), I'd give this place a go. It was pretty good.

This is the second time that my husband and I dined at this restaurant. We were seated quickly, even though we were early for our reservation. The waiter came over right away to greet us, and told us about a price fix menu. We had a Groupon which included an app, 2 entrees and 2 glasses of wine. We asked if we could do the wine flights. He said he would ask and let us know. We waited a good 10 minutes, and had to ask one of the other wait staff to find our waiter. We were able to do the wine flights which was fun..they had a piece of paper with the names of the wines, and a brief description of each wine. For our appetizer, we ordered the Bistro 72 salad. It was good, although the dressing was a bit watery. My husband had the Filet and I had the Ribeye. His was tender and cooked as he asked. I asked for medium and it was well done, and slightly chewy. The root vegetables that came with mine were tasty. For dessert, we had the bread pudding. It was supposed to come with pumpkin ice cream, but came with pistachio. I like pistachio, but it's not what was on the menu. The bread pudding was like a hockey puck. It was dried out and tough. I think it was the worst bread pudding I've ever had. First time we said,eh, it was ok. Same for the second. I'm glad we had a groupon. It's doubtful we'll return.

The food is good but the service is deplorable for the most part. Chris, Rita and a couple others are good waiters but the others lack common sense and some are downright rude. Who needs to pay good money to be mistreated. We would neither return. Weird setup between the enclosed restaurant and the bar area. There is absolutely no management present. We had to enlist the help of the front desk at the hotel to get seated after waiting 10 minutes for help.

Stayed at the hotel for our 20th anniversary. Made dinner reservation for 7:30. Nobody served us by 8pm. Walked out. At 9:30 wine delivered to our room. Nice but we needed food, not alcohol. Very disappointed.

Bistro 72 is an open airy, pleasant restaurant bistro tucked inside a hotel when you get off the LIE on the east end. Nothing all to fancy but its a place for a quick bite, inside or outside and a bar. Glad to have it out here. Nice service and pleasant place, but pizza was really like a cracker. Rueben was sinful. Get that but not too often! lol

We stayed at Hotel Indigo using a Groupon. We had two meal vouchers and we used them both for breakfast. We both enjoyed our breakfast so much so that we ordered the identical thing the next day. BF had pancakes and sausage and I had the standard eggs breakfast. We came during the week so it wasn't crowded at all. Our food came out quickly and our servers were professional and friendly.

Didn't stay at the hotel, but met some friends who were. The food was Okay. The ambiance and service was better. Standard food, at pretty high prices.

Not sure where to start or end for that matter but to sum up the evening... Steaks over cooked, chicken dry and soaked in oil, awful service arguing about the steak, and wine not served as requested. Left half way through dinner. 2 out of four people got to eat. Salads were ok. So 1 star.

Went on a Thursday evening. The service was polite but rushed every aspect of the meal. We've eaten here before so we expected more refined service. We had the full sized Bistro 72 salad with panko crusted brie, cranberries & vinagrette over mixed greens, which was very good. We then shared the papardelle which was enjoyable and the duck quesadillas which were overcooked to the point that the tortillas were crunchy and the duck was dry like jerky. We were never offered a second round of drinks and the server brought us our check before even offering us coffee or dessert. Talk about wasting potential revenue! From start to beginning we were there about 45 minutes, which does not make a relaxed and refreshing dining experience. Hoping things shape up as we have high hopes for Riverhead's dining scene.

I ate here during my stay at the Hotel Indigo East End on account that a $30 credit and complimentary breakfast was included with my rate. Thankfully, during my time here, I did not experience the poor service that other reviews have talked about. The setting is nice, intimate, and cozy. They also have an outdoor seating area near the pool. Our food came in 10-15 minutes for breakfast, 15-20 minutes for dinner. Food ranged from okay to very good. Breakfast was just okay. Eggs benedict was overcooked, with no soft gooey yoke in the center like it should have. Dinner, on the other hand, fared much better. The grilled duck quesadillas were delicious-Definitely a no brainer if you like duck! The halibut was also very good, with a nice flaky texture, nicely seasoned, and no strong "fishy" taste. Apparently, they won't serve you bread unless you ask for it. Service was a lot better during dinner than it was during breakfast. I attribute this to the increased traffic and the restaurant being clearly understaffed. Although the food is not special, I would eat here again if I got a similar credit for a future visit.

We came here on a Tuesday night around 6 for dinner. The restaurant was relatively empty, only one couple at the indoor bar and another couple on the patio. The outdoor patio looks out at the pool area and is nicely landscaped. The indoor dining area is small, with a chic vibe and bar. The menu is also small, only two pages. Although we did not order drinks, the list looked pretty extensive, especially the wines. Our server was friendly and attentive - however the wait for the food was verrrry long. I understand that some restaurants just have a more relaxed way of operating which is totally fine, we weren't in any rush. I could see other people who aren't as laid back as we are getting upset by the wait time - 25 minutes to prepare a cup of soup and small salad. Another half hour to prepare a turkey burger and French fries (that were probably frozen, not fresh cut.) The food itself was very average and overpriced for its quality. We used a voucher from the hotel to pay so I cant complain much there. Our bill was $45 for 2 soft drinks, a cup of soup, half salad, turkey burger + fries, and tip.

Amazing food ... Very surprised we loved it all from the Caesar salad tower, bourbon wings as appetizers then price fixed steak menu (only available on Thursday nights)- filet mignon was on point! Wanta come back again next week! Service top notch. Thanks Jess!

After a day of wine tasting, I was definitely ready for a nice dinner at Bistro 72. First off, the jazz trio that was featured on Thursday night was brilliant! This immediately put us in a very good mood. My traveling companion is a vegetarian and I am a pescatarian, so many times when I am traveling, meal time can be an issue. We had no problem here and the kitchen even made substitutions for us to accommodate our diet. I had one of the best salads ever, called the East End Salad, which consisted of local field greens, local Catapano crumbled goat cheese, toasted pignoli nuts, raspberry dressing, and topped with North Fork potato chips. My entrée was the Local Vegetable Individual Pizza: Roasted garlic hummus, white balsamic marinated local vegetables, feta, and olive tapenade. The only thing I would suggest, is to add more hummus, maybe some basil and drizzle the pizza with some high quality olive oil as it was a bit dry. For Breakfast, I splurged and had the pan roasted Bistro Crab Cakes, which were not only delicious but beautifully presented. It was truly excellent and I will be back.

Ate there with a groupon last night. It included two small plates, four entrees, and four glasses of wine. We had excellent service and the food was amazing! The prices are a bit high normally, but the groupon made it an unbelievable deal. Overall great experience!

Like the Indigo Hotel it calls home, Bistro 72 is a wonderful surprise hidden right next door to the Tanger Outlets. Serving modern twists on locally produced, seasonal foods, this place offers a really nice dining experience. The decor is modern, yet warm and inviting, just like the dishes. My wife had a the french chicken, with potato risotto, while I went with the Crab Cakes. The dishes were hearty, but not overwhelming. Everything was clearly prepared fresh to order and seasoned perfectly. The wine list was great, with a lot of local offerings. Whether you are looking for a lunch alternative to the Tanger Food Court or on your way to the Vineyards, or doing both while staying at the Indigo, you should definitely stop in at Bistro 72 for a delectable meal at this hidden gem.

On Christmas Day for once I was going to stay home and relax instead of doing the normal family thing but at the last minute my father in law decided to take us all out for Christmas dinner of course every place was closed on the North Fork except for Applebees and this place at first when we got there we had to wait for a table because they were packed but it was worth the wait I ended up having the codfish it was the best cod fish I've ever had who ever was the chef that night my hat off to them the service was great nice and fast I'd definitely recommend this restaurant everything that we ordered it was amazing whoever this shift is really knows what he's doing they had a special for the holiday way you got the soup salad entree and dessert which was great we got that at a couple appetizers and we was set I highly recommend this to anybody that's in the area or staying at this hotel I've never really brag about a place unless there's something really to brag about the food here is thank you for a wonderful Christmas dinner to all the staff you made it very pleasant. = p.s and the price was absolutely reasonable.

food was okay, nothing special. the atmosphere is nice since they offer live entertainment and an outdoor pool. however, they are seriously understaffed. only come here if you are not hungry and willing to wait over an hour to be served. it took them forever just to come around and take our order. it took even longer for the food to come. finally, we were so tired of waiting for them to bring the check that we decided to walk up to the register to ask to pay. we ordered the halibut and the east end salad. the halibut was fine but I was disappointed when they forgot the beets in my salad. I choose that salad because of the shaved beet strands. I waited over an hour for my food so I was very disappointed that they couldn't even get a simple salad right. I decided not to ask for the beets since it might take them another hour to find some. they also did not offer any bread at the table which could have kept us patient as we waited for our food. for those who are staying at the hotel, I would recommend to try the room service. dinner took two hours of our valuable time.

This a restaurant that stays as close to farm fresh as possible using many of the ingredients from local farms. It is an upscale place located in the Hotel Indigo East End. I had an an Italian seafood dish cioppino the first night it was good but not as infused with flavor as I would have like but still I like it. Local seafood clams, mussels, white fish and shrimp. Nicely presented. Next night Baked haddock over saved asparagus that was perfect! I am a solo dinner and sat at the bar where many singles also enjoyed dinner. The bartender was attentive and fun and introduced me to some wines from the local region. The next night was a busy night and I ordered a steak it was woefully overdone no pink center at all. I was disappointed to say the least. I ordered a flight from their wine tasting menu and took it outside to the fireplace, nice ambiance, live music and another log on the fire. Bad steak now an unpleasant memory. The breakfast I find just ho hum that morning they had no bacon. So I ordered the crab cake. Nice not great. The coffee was fresh and kept coming though. I understand that they have a new chef and the menu has changed. I like the hotel and feel welcome here which why I will keep coming back.

We have been thoroughly pleased with every meal here. We have dined here about 4 times in past 6 months. Service is great -- especially if Cindy is your waitress. Food has been consistently delicious. I also think it is a fair value. We like that you can order a three-course meal - or just get a great burger or bowl of mussels. Enjoy!

I stayed at the Indigo Hotel in Riverhead on a living social deal. They included a 30 dollar voucher to the hotel restaurant. There are many nice dining options in Riverhead, however I chose to try something new and have dinner at Bistro 72. Zagat's has not yet posted a rating, other than indicate it is expensive - that I do agree with. Perhaps the overall experience I had was most tainted by the ambience - or total lack of it. For the prices the restaurant charges, and for having a "name" chef, I expect much more from a restaurant than a Vegas style sports bar. There are a combination of large and small TV sets in a bar area. At the other end, the doors open to the pool area. The bar was very loud and noisy with one individual behind me consistently using swear words. Another couple at the bar had just met in the adjoining room for a singles event - unfortunately, I was privvy to too much information. A few people sat outside. A pool area only, the restauranteurs did not set any of the tables in advance. Also , the whole space was open to the lobby of the hotel. The food was adequate. I ordered the Cioppini, a large seafood stew. The portion was large. However, other than for the light and tasty broth, much of the seafood was overcooked and bland. The clams were quite large overcooked and too chewy. I almost choked on one. The mussels too, large but not much flavor. The restaurant advertises "local" ingredients. I was thus disappointed by the mahi-mahi, a dry piece of grilled fish. The opening salad was excellent - goat cheese and a rasberry dressing topped with pine nuts. The flavorful lobster bisque was quite tasty. The other person in my party had the salmon, which he enjoyed. Dessert was a trio of sorbets - acceptable, but not the local home made product I would expect from a restaurant of this nature. in short, this is not so much a fine dining establishment, but a glorified sports bar, or perhaps a pick-up scene .Bar type of grub - maybe some fancy hamburger sliders, chicken wings, etc. would be more appropriate.

DISAPPOINTING AND MISLEADING. We got a Groupon yesterday and checked out the menus. Three breakfast items interested us, so we decided to try it this morning, then use our Groupon at a later date. My husband had the Eggs Indigo: eggs Benedict on a fine-grain, lightly cheddar-ed biscuit. It said it had "truffled hollandaise." The truffle flavor was imperceptible, but the hollandaise was homemade, and my husband was very pleased with the meal. However, what would you expect from a meal described as: "BREAKFAST PIZZA - Grilled, Whipped Cream Cheese, House Cured Gravlax, Lemon Confit, Chive Oil, Crispy Shallots?" What it actually is is just a COLD, dry, white flour tortilla smeared with whipped cream cheese, scattered with smoked salmon pieces and green onion, and cut in wedges. No lemon ANYTHING, no oil, no shallots. I could have made this myself at home for a lot less than $17. In response to my disappointment, and my observation that it was a tortilla, not a pizza crust, the chef said, "That's how we do all our pizzas." When she began back-pedaling, saying she'd given me "both chives AND green onion", I realized It was pointless to discuss the rest. Bottom line: the chef took unacceptable shortcuts on a slow Saturday morning. To be fair, the waitress asked if I'd like to order something else instead, but I was already halfway through, and it was satisfying my salmon craving. So, be warned, if you're likely to be tempted by a "Breakfast Pizza", DON'T BOTHER TRYING IT HERE! I agree with Nicole C. about the TVs. There are a dozen, including a very large one, in this relatively small (20'x30?) room. Otherwise it's a pleasant setting, and our waitress was very friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Knowing 50% of our breakfast was a total ripoff, I doubt we'll bother using the Groupon. It certainly was not worth making a 30-mile round trip.
