Far and away the best seafood restaurant in Westchester, Putnam & Western CT. Love the Red White & Blue Special .

Great food...mediocre service. I don't have too much to say except that the food is great but it was not crowded and our drinks took 20 min and to get a second seemed a hassle for our waitress...or anything that we needed for that matter. There were so many staff hanging out like it was social hour and ignoring the customers.

I'm puzzled by the overall rating, because I was really impressed. We fortunately had reservations for outside seating. Service was pretty quick and professional, though it was a little disappointing to see dozens of varieties of oysters on the raw bar menu only to find out that only two (really good) choices were actually available. Their cold lobster roll was phenomenal, it gives me favourite (Kiwi Cafe in Chester, NS) a run for its money. My wife had the burger which was also outstanding, and the fish and chips were also looking good. Drinks were awesome, great local beers and well poured cocktails. Absolutely worth a visit. Check out the farm store as well, it was excellent.

A very cozy country feel. We went for a late lunch & ordered off the Bar Menu. I had the mussels in a wine broth. They were sweet and tender. I also had the salmon burger on a grilled English muffin bun, it was cooked perfectly. I returned a second time and had an equally pleasant experience enjoying a crisp calamari & polenta sticks which were crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. The service was also friendly and good.

One of my fav in Westchester. Service is perfect, they are fast, kind, professional. Food is amazing, anything you pick. The porch is the best place to sit outside at summer. It is packed on Fridays and Saturdays, so we come on Monday night. Also full :)) Great place, I love it!

I write my reviews like Michelin stars. This place is worth checking out if you're in the area, but not worth a special trip if you're coming from far away (25+ miles). I've had the lobster roll, scottish salmon, clam chowder, and the black sea bass. All dishes were of high quality, everything tasted fresh. I've also tried their oysters, I had the server compile us an assortment of a dozen from the east and west coast. I'm going to sound pretentious, but I've had far better lobster rolls in Boston and Maine. With that being said, it was alright, but not worth the money in my opinion. the salmon and black sea bass were excellent, along with the clam chowder. I was also pleased with the oysters, the server did an excellent job in the selection. I also had a couple of beers and mixed drinks. Pricey, but they had a pretty decent selection of local craft brews. Service was great, servers were knowledgeable and prompt. Bottom line, check it out if you're in the area and want a nice meal. Expect to pay $60+ for two people.

I love the farm to table feel. My 6 year old child also enjoyed it here. The raw bar is great and the food tastes amazing with a great presentation. I will come back again for sure. There is also a market out back.

Huge mistake to change the Buffalo Shrimp. It was the best app on the menu. Won't be going back unless they change it back to the original way. They tried to get a little too fancy with the dish and it was a really bad idea.

Argh! My second visit to this restaurant, and four stars quickly has become two. Clearly they can do a good job, but as other reviews suggest, this restaurant is inconsistent, and can also deliver mediocrity. At this price point, and given that for most people getting there requires a little bit of travel, there really isn't a lot of room to forgive a lame meal. Add to that some very inattentive service, and I would describe last night as a near train wreck. In short, my tuna dish was uninspired at best. Also, the fish tacos were drowning in a pool of some sort of teriyaki sauce. Gross. Both dishes would've been right at home in a chain restaurant from the 80s. The inclusion of lots of little Chinese shrimp didn't help. When I asked about what type of tequila was used in the special margarita, the bartender said "does it matter?" Perhaps it doesn't, but that's not the answer to the question. Our waitress came to the table exactly once. To take our order. And never returned again. We finally flagged her down for a check an hour+ later. I'm going to try this place again, simply because I really want it to be good, and I'm hoping this was an aberration. But if I experience a similar meal again. Well... Fool me once. I guess I'll be the fool.

Cozy country atmosphere. Fresh farm to table food served in large portions. Fried calamari is amazingly fresh and crisp! The polenta fries are crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I had a burger that was cooked well and on an English muffin bun that was grilled and tasted amazing. I've been here twice and everything so far has been great.

TL;DR: I'll assume someone told you to go here ... well, they aren't lying. Go! I ate here about a month ago. Absolutely wonderful across the board. As you can see in my picture, I couldn't decide if I wanted the ravioli or the chicken, so I chose both. The gumbo was so good that I took another one to go. The waiter was extremely helpful picking out a wine and his help with the oysters was appreciated as well; both menus are EXTENSIVE!

  • Alesandra L.

Such a fantastic place, incredible fish tacos, oysters are fresh and yummy, the best vodka martini in that region. If you eat inside be prepared for noise, lots of noise. The property is charming, the market next door is filled with fabulous finds. This is a must if you're in the area, even worth a long drive. I loved that it was casual, you felt at home here, no pretentious uptight staff here.

Based on the exterior, the interior wasn't what I expected, with the bar floor simply covered in peanut shells, but do not let that fool you. The food here is 10 out of 5 stars. Truly. I've been here twice, and everything has been exceptional. Of the visits, there was a soft shell crab that stole my heart and a seasonal ramp bisque that made my last meal list. Definitely find the time to eat here!

Beautiful setting but food has gone downhill. It was love the first time we went there.. Oh so delicious the 2nd, 3rd and even 4th time. But food and service have both gone significantly downhill in the past year. Have had both finer dining dishes and burgers and there is just no love put into that food. Dried up rice, tasteless burgers with little garnish, undercooked dessert. The waiter didn't have knowledge of dishes and got pissy when I asked to switch from white to red wine because they were out of soft shell crabs at 7 pm on a Thursday night so I got a burger instead. Go for the "Red, White and Blue" deal of oysters and beer at the bar if you can get a seat. Go for the incredibly beautiful setting and ability to throw peanut shells on the rustic floor. But don't go for the food.

The crab sandwich was quite possibly the best sandwich I've ever had. Must try the polenta fries, must!

This place is the best. From the Awesome Red, White and Blue deal at the Bar to fantastic food in the Dining Room, it can't be beat.

Although this eatery is expensive, you are paying for quality, local food. I tried both the East and West coast shellfish (not a connoisseur, can't remember their origin or pedigree), chowdah, fish and chips, and scallop salad. - I'm not a huge shellfish lover but I did love their $8 wine & shellfish happy hour deal. If you're in the mood, or looking to be in the mood (shellfish are aphrodisiacal) get in on this great deal. - The clam chowder, aka "chowdah" was delicious; the perfect thickness, richness of cream, and balance of fresh sea flavors. - The fish and chips were phenomenal-not too much fish or too much batter, NOT GREASY! Tartar sauce-zingy and thick. - The scallop salad...to die for, perfection, the number one thing that should be ordered at this establishment! The portion was just right; pancetta, salty and resistant; the scallops were fresh, sweet, and slightly crunchy due to the flash fry. When I come back, I will order again. This establishment boasts a solid wine and tap beer menu. There is an attached market that sells produce from their on site garden. The only reason why this restaurant does not get 5 stars is because of their subpar customer service. We were not waited on with much affection or attention. Oh well, no big deal, just give me some more of that sweet, succulent seafood!

I've been there several times and their food is great. But - this past weekend, at the recommendation of the server, I ordered the Thai seafood tacos. While the fish was good, the plate came completely unassembled. The flour tacos were on the plate (and got covered in the sauce in which the fish was marinated) and I had to assemble myself, which was cumbersome and messy. I frequently order the bar tacos at Pawling's McKinney and Doyle which come neatly assembled and easy to eat. The oysters were delicious and the bread pudding dessert was fantastic. Service was excellent. I just ordered the wrong thing. My companions were very happy with their rock fish special.

I have been here for dinner and for lunch. Once inside and once outside. They are doing some things really well here - ingredients are really local farm-raised and fresh - not just a "claim" - many ingredients are grown right on the hillside. There is also a farm-fresh store next to the restaurant. Seafood is fresh and the oyster selection is terrific. They employ a professional shucker at the raw bar - so less cracked shells and no struggling to get the clams and oysters out of their shells. The wine list is perfect to complement the food, with nice selections for seafood. The porch is a great spot for a casual lunch on a nice day. Get there early as it fills up quickly. Conversely, it can get packed and cramped at peak dinner times. A seat at the bar for a single or couple is also a great spot as you get out of the flow and hustle bustle. The dining room is loud. Really loud. Four stars if they address the acoustics. The lobster roll was too much "salad" and not enough lobster for us, or for the $19 tab. The steamers, in a white wine and bay broth were fresh and clean (this is a big deal if you don't like eating sand), but the broth was unremarkable, not great for dunking. I would have preferred plain with a butter dunking cup. For fresh seafood in a comfortable setting, this is a great spot.

Been here about five times. This last time host and manager were super hospitable. Wish the food and cocktails were the same caliber. So great in the past but today apps were good (buffalo shrimp, crab cake, bacon salad) but entrees (Thai fish tacos and soft shell crab) were so disappointing. Drinks too were just not what they once had been. Loved this place and want to continue, but today was disappointing...

Different - yet very nice! Loaded with tables and people....close quarters! Lots of good energy! Back in the 1700's had been a home & inn....Produce comes from farm on the property...Vincent took great care of us....really knew cuisine...if you love fresh fish & seafood, this is the place....everything prepared to order....service was great (I must have had 6 glasses of water to drink - LOL)....Appts and main course were very good....didn't have any room for desert...also has market on site so you can purchase their food to take home! Somewhat pricey.....$ 12.00 for glass of wine....should have been $ 8.00....Overall, you will love it....make reservations!

What a great place! The food was delicious. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich. There was nothing left on my plate! Loved it. We also ordered the cheddar tater tot which was definitely a different take on tots. yummy. The atmosphere is beautiful with flowers framing the patio. We even took a walk around the restaurant after dinner to enjoy the place a little longer. the -1 star was because our server was clearly having a bad day. He got progressively worse throughout the evening. Thankfully the rest of the staff that we encountered were very pleasant.

I really liked this seafood place in a historical location. Food was excellent, the lobby was cozy, and services were decent. A bit on the expensive side which is understandable if this place draw celebrities from the city. We were luck enough to get a table reserved for us at the last minute. We got seated near the fire place which made me feel so homey. There were roasted peanut in shells at the bar and the shell was left on the floor. It was just very comfy and relaxing. We had a nice bottle of white wine to go with our seafood dinners. The mixed east coast and west coast Oysters were juicy and plump. I had mussels which was fresh, tender, and not too much fishy taste. Pot roaster looked great with all kinds of seafood including a small lobster in it. The scallops tasted sweet and buttery. Everything tasted delicious. The dessert was my favorite warm chocolate cake. It tasted wonderful. However, I unfortunately got something other than cake flour in my mouth which turned out to be a piece of egg shell. We told our waiter who took that piece back to the kitchen and confirmed with us that was a piece of egg shell but didn't offer any complimentary stuff which was a bit disappointment. The friend, we were visiting, is the neighbor of the owner so we heard the ingredients were very locally produced and the stories of the photos on wall. It was a fun night to hang out here.

Wonderful meal on a perfect Spring/Summer night at a table outside. Nice decor and good food. I got the calamari and the salmon, both were quite good. Husband got the flounder (on the bone) which was even better. Our friends got swordfish, scallop salad and tuna, latter two of which I tried. Delicious as well! Good spot!

Every is excellent. Food, service, and atmosphere. -1 star for noise level in the dining room during the busy time. Could not hear the waiter. Outside tables are the best as well as during the week.

Being from the San Francisco Bay Area, the farm to table locavore theme isn't new and unfortunately here, it isn't done well. My husband and I were visiting friends in Bedford and decided to try this overrated, overcrowded eatery. I'll keep it short - my husband had the lobster roll and the oysters and one or both of them gave him food poisoning. His stomach was upset for 3 FULL DAYS. On the upside, the bartender from Oregon was pleasant and the manager really did try to get us a good table -even if we did end up waiting until 10 to eat (despite that we had a 9 PM reservation). My advice would be do whatever you can to get down to ABC Kitchen in NYC. You will not be disappointed.

Great spot for meat and fish. Casual bar with lots of locals and peanut shells to keep the old barn boards on the floor polished. Very authentic Westchester homestead.

I arrived at 5:00 on a Saturday to have my first Lobster Roll of the season. I was completely surprised by what happened. While every couple and every guy who walked in got a warm hello, as a 50 something woman I was ignored. I could barely place an order while everyone else was tended to quickly. The warm Lobster Roll was mediocre. Any service was abominable. I will never return

Been here several times and the oysters are great, but the food not so much. The clam chowder is about as bland as sawdust soup. My wife is not into seafood and she has had the burger which is similar in taste and consistency to a hockey puck. I have had an assortment of different dishes, but they all seem to be the same bland crap. I know it's primarily sea food, but They need a better verity of other things on the "farmer" side too

  • Tara M.

I think my expectations were too high for this restaurant. I had heard such great things but I was a little thrown off but the ultra casual ambiance with peanut shells all around and being cramped on top of one another. I will say that the quality of the seafood is good for the prices which are quite fair compared to most seafood restaurants.

Dined here last night. Was fairly easy to get a reservation and were seated when we arrived. Waiter was helpful to tell us which 3 chairs to choose given we were seated at a very busy corner of the restaurant. Spent some time reading the descriptions of the oysters as we wanted a dozen from a few varieties. I told the waiter we wanted the oysters but he wouldn't take the oyster order until we decided on our entire meal choices. Really? Food was great. Oysters, tuna, scallops, gumbo. All delicious. Our waiter was a bit pretentious. But, the thing that spoiled the experience for me was that our waiter brought the check just after ordering dessert from a second waiter, but well before the dessert arrived. Thinking that the mAin waiter didn't realize we had ordered dessert , I pointed out that we had and I was surprised he delivered the check. He commented that he knew our dessert was coming. Totally turned me off from wanting to come back here. We had not been lingering. As a matter of fact, total time at the table was 90 minutes. For such a pretentious waiter who made sure we knew how much he knew about food, this was a pretty amateur move.

I'm a regular customer. Great food, good wait staff and casual atmosphere. Unfortunately the arrogance displayed by the manager on duty this past Monday was distasteful. Clearly he didn't care one bit about our table of three after our waiter suggested we talk to him in regards to a problem we were having with the menu. It's a shame that success is sowing the seeds of dismay.

This place reminds me of one of my favorite Manhattan restaurants (Pearl Oyster Bar), with it's New England clam shack appeal. Being a creature of habit, I've ordered the lobster roll (cold) twice now. The first one was very good, the second not so much (tasted sort of bitter). The steak fries are completely addictive. On another visit we went for Sunday brunch and sat outside on the slanted porch (time to replace those wobbly chairs). Although service was painfully slow, it was worth the wait...the lobster hash has me counting the days until my next visit. My better half says the same about the scallop salad.

  • Gary B.

Stopped here while driving up north on a Sunday. There was a large brunch crowd but somehow they managed to squeeze me in. A very comforting and homey feel, staff made me feel like family. The corn bread was incredibly, probably the tastiest I've ever had. Clams on the half shell were sweet and didn't have any hint of salt water, The lobster omelette was impressive with large chunks of tail meat and just enough sauce. Also sampled the beef burger which was cooked exactly as requested and super juicy. For desert I went with the berry crisp, talk about decadence, it was borderline perfection with a multitude of different berries. If you're ever in the area is definitely recommend stopping in and trying everything!

Atmosphere! Cozy with three wood burning fire places. Historic farm house. Crunch on peanut shells as you walk into the bar. Oysters are fresh, tuna sandwich scallop salad, mussels were all prepared well. Polenta fries, awesome! Desserts are simple and executed well. Prices are slightly higher on certain items than others.

Fatal flaw: incompetent, unprofessional staff Take this from a professional chef: -pity, we never got to try the food here. Might be great, but it wouldn't matter to me, and here's why: We reserved for an anniversary dinner 10 days in advance, only to find that they lost our reservation. It happens, OK, but the staff only offered lame explanations (their infallible reservation system, for example), and insisted it was not possible that they lost it. This palaver truck me as a rather insensitive attitude toward an anniversary couple. The manager was brought in. He also whined at how busy it was, and that if we showed up 2 hours after our reservation, as a special favor, he may be able to squeeze us in. Naturally, we weren't a little offended, but more so in awe of this farce. Lame service is - unfortunately, ubiquitous up here in the burbs. I suppose people just tolerate it, so long as the food is OK. Naturally, such an institution could not survive more than one-week in a professional environment -NYC, for example. Utterly unacceptable. Alas, Purdy's Farmer & The Fish, is not the real-deal, until they can learn how to run the front of their house - unless, of course, amateurish service and disrespect doesn't rattle you, and you would even pay a gratuity for that privilege. -pathetic, and semi-pro

We came here for brunch/lunch Sunday and opted to sit on the porch. Given what we spent, I don't think we'll be back anytime soon... Pros Delicious bread basket Water constantly refilled Really good chowder Super fresh oysters Cons Literally 3 small pieces of lobster in my lobster hash The greens on both of our plates were doused in lemon My husbands steak was weirdly cooked. The first few bites were closer to medium well, the middle few bites were the requested medium, the last few bites were medium rare Price for the mediocre execution of the entrees delivered We ordered 4 East Coast oysters and the waitress picked them, but neglected to tell us what they were and when we asked, she had no idea

ate here for my birthday. the food and service were the best ever! We were greeted with smiles. The atmosphere was warm and professional. The staff obviously respect and enjoy where they work. This is important. The food was excellent! Inventive. Fresh. Seasonal. Tasty. A+ Was a bit noisy. But understandable with a restaurant filled with excited people. Will visit often.

  • Maureen B.

So what is the fuss about? I only went here once so i am going to try it again-- but i was unimpressed! Crowded, noisy, the food was unremarkably( i had a lobster roll) and sorry to say the service was just ok.

  • Bonnie M.

Wonderful seafood in such a cool environment. The chef grows his own fruits and vegetables. I went for dinner and had the seared scallop salad and lobster boil. The salad was incredible with all of its different tastes and the lobster was incredible. Would definitely go again when I am in the area.

  • Matthew M.

My 4 stars are based on many lunches there. A great place for a long lunch. The food is fantastic. Fresh, innovative. The scallop salad and the steamers are out of this world. Excellent raw bar! Caveat: Dinner at F&F is too loud and crowded for my taste (due to unnecessary music over the PA, huge crowds, and tables too close together). So... I do lunch there!

    (4)
  • S W.

My husband and I had brunch here today, we had a reservation and upon arrival we were seated immediately. However, the delightful room was so jammed pack with tables and the noise level, between diners and PA music, was so loud that it was not conducive to conversation. That being said, the service was excellent with everyone very attentive-especially the "maitre'd". The Bloody Mary was one of the best and the mimosa delicious. The food came quickly and was very good. Due to the noise level, we did not stay for dessert or coffee- but they looked scrumptious. We will try again for lunch on a weekday.....

I've been there twice - once for lunch and once for dinner. The service was excellent both times - very helpful and friendly servers. The food was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend the seared scallop salad, the chowder, and the polenta fries. And the polenta fries. Did I mention the polenta fries? Seriously, get the polenta fries. I also love the atmosphere - so homey and cozy and not pretentious at all.

  • Elisa Z.

I've been to this restaurant at least 5 times and it is consistently good. It's difficult to find a seafood restaurant with this level of quality in the area. The lobster bisque and polenta fries are to die for. The raw bar is always a great choice. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting and quaint. I definitely would recommend Purdy's Farmer & Fish.

Is it one or 4 stars? First, it was a beautiful end of summer Saturday night and the place was packed, inside and out. We had been married when it was The Box Tree and it was our anniversary. We had been to F&F for lunch before so we knew that it was not a romantic place. As others have said, the place is loud!! Also the tables are tightly packed, more than we had remembered. We had a reservation and were brought to our table right away. Nice waitress. The couple next to us were regulars who gave us some personal recommendations which we followed. I got the crab, lobster corn soup which was a bit too thick with either cornstarch or flour, but flavorful. I then had the big eye tuna which was wonderful. 4 stars so far. Then the trouble began. My wife, a vegetarian asked if her dish could be ordered without bacon. "Absolutely," says the waitress. Of course, it came with the bacon. Apologies and ownership of the mishap by the waitress. Sent back. 10 minutes later it comes out again without the fresh sunny side up egg (a key ingredient). Sent back, lots of apologies from the waitress. Comes again with the egg and the bacon. We asked for the check. Enough. The manager comes to ask if everything is OK. He picks up the dish, says he'll get it right, not charge us for it and comp desserts. We told him we had had enough. The waitress brought the check with everything but my delicious tuna removed. That was more than fair. The manager refused to take any money from us and hoped we would give them another chance. Aside from getting the dish wrong 3 times, the manager handled this as well as he could have, but still....how disappointing. Should we give it another chance?

We went with high expectations, this restaurant did not disappoint. Seated within 5 min of arriving by a very gracious hostess. Our waiter was excellent and service overall was terrific. My husband ordered a whole grilled fish which was as delicious as what we ate on the coast in Portgual! I ordered the black bass which was just ok. The sauce was rather insipid and needed salt. We'll be back but I won't order the bass again. It is definitely crowded and noisy, this is a fun date place but do t expect privacy.

  • Mary S.

Purdy's Farmer and the Fish is certainly a lovely spot amongst fresh flower and vegetable gardens. Definitely a better spot to go in the summer. It took us a long time to be seated and if you are planning a special night out, make sure to book well in advance! Very fresh seafood and down to earth rustic decor. The noise level is very loud and tables are very close to each other.

Authentic historic farmhouse charm. Nice seafood selection but be prepared to pay top Westchester prices. Great bread, oysters, chowder, fish and chips. Im sure anything on the menu is delish. Only quam was the service, which was surprising. Waitress was weird- staring at my plate to see how much I ate, didnt clear the appetizer plates before bringing lunch. I expected more for service.

One of my absolute favorites. It is truly a challenge to get good seafood when you live in the middle of the woods. However, I have been here several times and the food as well as the cocktails are perfect every time. I recommend the vodka with lemonade and basil in the summer time. Divine. The fish is delicious; shellfish is out of this world. I could return just for the oysters. In the summer, they make fried zucchini flowers (Italian people you know what I'm talking about)! I had not had them since I was a little girl and they were as good as grandma used to make. Honestly, I have yet to order anything here that was not less than perfectly cooked. Veggies and fruits are fresh as can be and grown right behind the restaurant. The menu is primarily seafood so if you are someone who really is looking for a steak this might not be the place for you (they do serve meat here but it is usually only two or three things on the menu). The service has always been excellent here every time I have visited. Yes, it is a little on the pricey side but, again, when you are eating at a seafood place in the middle of the woods you should expect that the freshest quality fish and shellfish is going to be a little costly. The owner of the restaurant gets fresh seafood everyday. The portions are not big but not small either. If you order an appetizer, you will most likely be satiated when you leave. In terms of the ambiance....I love it here but I guess it is not for everyone. Is it cramped? Yes, it can be; prepare to be cozy with your neighbors. However, this is because it is a small country farmhouse and it is a very popular spot to dine. Is it noisy? Yes, but no less than any other small, busy restaurant. Are there peanuts on the floor? Yes, in the bar; people eat peanuts (with the shell) as a bar snack and sometimes they fall on the floor. If you're allergic to peanuts...this is not the place for you as you have to walk through the bar to get to the dining room. If you are a tourist from NYC who wants a nice, quiet place to eat on a Saturday night where you can hear crickets, basque in the country air, and sit in solitude.....move on....this is not the place for you. Last and final note, the BEST time to come here is for a nice early dinner around 5-5:30pm on a weekday. It will be much less crowded, much more quiet, and in the warmer months you can snag a quaint table on the porch.

1st Know I never yelp...only 1 other time... Why I don't recommend this place: Manager and one owner are very unfriendly, rude & unprofessional food is unpredicable & they put the fear into you not to complain instead of catering to the customer??? over priced drink prices change each time you go... if someone buys you a drink...i was charged twice with that situation for the drink that was bought for me i notice that workers are fired and then sometimes come back?? i think there are some anger issues going on...or maybe just bad management? the only good things i could say; ed the owner is nice peter k. the bartender is nice rich the shucker at the raw bar is nice good tuna burger if they apologize to me for rude comments and being made to feel guilty for a complaint... i would change this post....and not talk bad about the place... other wise it will be put on often!

Solid seafood. Wet bar that is like 28 miles from Long Island sound with shellfish, crabs, and lobster coming from further. Situated in the old Purdys family farmstead, this rustic 3 fireplace, farm out back restaurant is an excellent example of new American cuisine. Whether you get fish and chips, the lobster roll, chowdah, or farm raised steak, you can't go wrong. The nice touches include fresh bread with ricotta and olive oil, veggies prepared from preserves in the winter or fresh during harvest time, or olden pictures from the North Salem historical society. Only con I can give is that the men's bathroom was lit with an old vacuum bulb that made it dark like the turn of the century. Staff is attentive, but it can get busy. Definitely get the scallop salad with egg. Divine.

great raw bar, best time to go is sat or sun afternoon to enjoy a relaxing meal and drinks...dinner is a zoo, too crowded and loud.

LOW'S ARE SO HIGH AND THE HIGH'S ARE SO LOW An historic building that had me waiting for the revolutionary soldier's to turn the corner. Crooked floors covered in peanut shell's. Packed with fun locals who want to stay close to home, in case they have one wine to many. The best dish I ever ate here was in the summer. Out back and noticing that they were growing tomatoes, I asked for a dish of sliced tomatoes. They came red and yellow. I heard surrounding tables wanting and asking me how I got them. My point, order simple and not items needing much cooking skills. Cold lobster cocktail, oysters, seaweed salad, fortunately yes the frozen key lime pie....... LET ME KNOW WAS I RIGHT

3.5 stars. Food won't blow you away, but it is a good standby for a casual date or dinner with friends. Go on the later side and skip the crowds. The menu is interesting- stick to fish choices for more evenly good food. The Thai fish tacos were an original, delicious interpretation. Shrimp fried rice is also good. They ran out of tuna burgers the last time we were there, and my husbands hamburger was a total miss. Worth a trip. Great ambience. Service ranges from good to inattentive. For their prices wish it was a more consistent experience.

What a great restaurant. Found this place serendipitously while driving on Rte. 22. Wasn't disappointed. The location is quaint and inviting. Excellent menu, great food, and very friendly service made casual dining here a memorable experience. If you're in the neighborhood do try this establishment. I'll definitely be back.

Okay, I keep coming back here and it's the same story. The service here continues to disappoint. Last Thursday I went with my friend for dinner. I had made reservations and when we arrived I asked if we could sit outside. The hostess told us that I had made reservations for inside. I admit I should have asked to sit outside. I asked if we can wait to sit outside. She asked a man who was wearing a blue button down shirt and slacks and he said that that is why they ask over the phone whether we want to sit outside or inside. I told him that while it's true that I didn't request to sit outside , I was not asked over the phone either. He said they always ask. I felt I had to be patient so that we can sit outside. Anyhow, after about 40 minutes, my friend asked him if there were any tables and that we were still waiting and to please not forget about us (in a very sweet way with a chuckle). He told us we still have to wait with such arrogance and he hardly made any eye contact with us. We were so annoyed at him. Terrible way with the public- why are you working with people if you don't like it? We finally got to sit outside an hour later. The hostess sat us down. The food was okay- nothing to rave about. However, the berry dessert was good. Oh well, I'm done with this place- too many chances- plenty of other good restaurants to choose from.

We've had nothing but good meals here. Have sat in dining room, bar and outside and have had attentive and good service. Can the dining room be loud and crowded? Yes...it's a converted house. Imagine 40 people in your dining room! But, I'm not going to eat in a quiet library. It's lively and fun and the food is good and will absolutely be back and thrilled to have it nearby.

The raw bar was fantastic.... But the rest of the food was terrible... At the bar we had oysters and lobster amazing!!! At the table the bread was heavy and dry with a unfortunate paste!! I ordered pork belly with slaw very over salted... My husband got a crab cake which was ok. The main course put the nail in the coffin, my steak was horrible I had one bite... The spinach purée was tasteless and red potatoes no better, my husbands shrimp po-boy is better at the local bar... Never the less the wait staff were attentive and kind... But unless it's raw don't bother...

Yikes. Just left there after waiting 2 hours for a table (what were we thinking?) Hostess told us she would seat us but never did. She wouldn't make eye contact with us while we waited patiently at the bar. Not sure what the hype is all about. It was hot and packed in the bar area. Menu looks good but nothing over-the-top. Won't go back ever again after being lied to. Management needs to treat people better. Lots of other good restaurants nearby.

Having dined here a few times our last experience merits comment and a warning to others. The food was ok, but... To describe the service as indifferent to the point of ignoring us would be charitable. We shouldn't have to ask for water multiple times after being seated. There was an interminable wait for our entrees after sharing a starter. And no one ever come by to check on us. Food, truth be told, was nothing special. Particularly irritating is my wife had the crab cake salad, which was a mushy crab cake with a few greens on the side. She expected a salad. I had the lobster roll which had a lot of "shredded" something in it. It could have easily been crab, synthetic crab, or lobster. Hard to tell. Point is, where was the obvious lobster? How many times do they have to walk into someone sitting at a table before they realize you're sitting there? Paying attention shouldn't be this hard. Apologizing would be nice too. Also, they should inform you that they are charging for a refill on iced teas; at $3 per for a medium sized glass of ice, its pretty rude and we told them they should inform patrons of their policy on a previous visit. I guess it was up to us to remember The restaurant is in a part of the county where there aren't many choices. As a result it tends to do a brisk business and for our money takes its customers for granted. For what they charge their customers deserve way better than they receive. We'll go elsewhere next time we want some seafood.

LOBSTER ROLL SO GOOD. FARMERS SALAD. BOOM. Went here for lunch on a Saturday drive from the city. It was so on point for what we needed. Atmosphere was great. Oliver our waiter was great. Busboy who's name i forget was great. HIt the spot. Girl had the salmon burger and loved it. We got a salad that we shared, a glass of wine, Salmon burger, and Lobster roll, for $53.xx so that is fair. ok bye.

Dined here for a birthday celebration. Huge mistake. The noise level is horrid. I have never been in louder place. It's not the construction. It is the crowd. Left deaf in one ear. While the food is tasty, the ambience deprives you of any enjoyment. Avoid this place.

Went there with my family today for a late lunch. We loved the different types of rolls. Hubby got the wide eye tuna sandwich - said it was good. Son got the burger- wasn't a fan of the English muffin bun. Daughter & I had the lobster roll. It was her first lobster roll ever. She said it was okay. I would have to agree with her-I'm not a fan of lobster salad in a bun. Everyone enjoyed the fries that came with meal. Restaurant staff were very attentive and friendly. Nice atmosphere. I liked how this used to be an old farm house that has been converted. Btw- lunch menu is not very big for selections.

Not everything was excellent, but the highs were so high, I just couldn't help loving this place. First, the decor is so quaint and charming. We sat on the patio of the white house, over-looking the garden. Even took the kids for a walk around back to see the farm. Second, and perhaps one of the highest points, was the service. Our waitress was amazing. Attentive. Helpful with the kids. Accommodating. Warm. My only nit was toward the end of the meal, when the kids were reaching meltdown, she took an awfully long time with the bill. But since she was so incredible up to that point, I let it slide. And as for the food, there were three dishes that were out of this world. 1. The swordfish with balsamic sauce and garden fresh veggies was so fresh and delicious. It had these these tiny little tomatoes that exploded in your mouth, adding layers of depth to the dish that was already perfectly cooked. 2. The frozen key lime pie was a nice twist on one of my favorites. Striking a nice balance between tart and sweet. 3. The white chocolate bread pudding with salted caramel ice cream. My god! It was so damn good I nearly fell over into the citronella candle behind me. So why not five stars you ask? The Caesar salad was not served with a true Caesar dressing. Typical creamy crap you find at most places. The halibut with corn risotto was just okay. As was the big eye tuna. Granted, the tuna was remarkably fresh. Melted in my mouth. But when the recipe says "Szechuan" I expect a little more heat. But all nits aside, Purdy's definitely has game.

First off, this yelp page is incorrect. I'd say it's a casual-dressy atire. Men, wear a collared shirt, and ladies: a nice ensemble. The price is closer to $$$ than $$. Just a quick fyi for people expecting to wear a t-shirt, cargos and your beat flip flops. The atmosphere is pretty cool, located in a historic building, it has a revolutionary feel and they sure do milk it. Historic photographs of the area and a large flag adorn the rustic walls. As other reviews have said, the dining room is pretty loud and very close together. I took off a star because I was so cramped I heard the recent results of an STD test for the table next door. No. Joke. The service was good, a little slow and took a bit to warm up and show some personality. BUT! It was packed, especially for a Tuesday evening. We ordered from their extensive wine menu and settled on some briny East Coast oysters. The oysters were banging and came with a classic marinara and vinaigrette. The wine was poured heavily, and we definitely got our fill for $11/glass. The entree's were quite good, mine better than my boyfriend's (but I spent a good amount of time checking the menu out before hand). I had the soft shell crab with sautéed spinach and a whole-grain mustard sauce and he the pasta special: fettucine with lobster and snow peas in a white wine sauce. The crab was amazing and the pasta was definitely fresh. We tried two desserts: again mine better than his. I has a key lime mousse and he a chocolate cupcake. The mousse was fresh, tart and sweet: a perfect key lime dish. His was almost chalky and tasted boxed or like someone went way too heavy with the cocoa powder and didn't balance it. Overall, this place was very good and I'd come back again. I'm torn between a 3 and a 4 because it was honestly a 3.5 between the seating, price ($156 without tip), and one lackluster dessert. For now, I'll give a 3 until I go back and can be wooed into a 4. Ps: the Happy Hour special is AWESOME. Blue point oysters/littleneck clams and a glass of house red/can of PBR for $8 = "Red White and Blue" special.

The day I was in they had a party so it wasn't too loud. I got the lobster hash with two sunny side up eggs. The lobster was excellent and the potato chard onion stir fry beneath the eggs was delicious. They had two big pieces of bread on my plate which I didn't eat, I think having the option of a side salad or greens would be nice. I tried a dining partner's lobster omelette which tasted very buttery and both her and I didn't feel so good after the meal, but it was all good at the time.

A really great restaurant! I went for my birthday dinner in December. The restaurant was tastefully decorated for the holiday. I felt as though I was in a Pottery Barn catalog. There is a big fireplace in the center of the restaurant that the waitress says they turn on when its slow. The menu is pricey, but all the ingredients are as fresh as you can get it. I had a soup for an appetizer that was wonderful and extremely flavorful. I had the salmon for dinner that was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend's potato side was cooked in what we think was bacon and was absolutely delicious! We wanted to lick the plate. We thought the service was great and the food was excellent! Would definitely go back! ***Make a reservation if you go!

I really don't understand how this restaurant earned more than 2 stars from others..it is highly overrated . Went Saturday eve at 5 and was seated at a tiny table for 2 located too near a very hot fireplace. Way too many tables packed into a small dining room and service was too slow. Was served cold bread and 2 tasteless dinner rolls served with a garlic aioli while we waited to order. I ordered a clam chowder that was missing the hearty texture and taste was just off. Asked the wait staff if a scallop dish could have bacon omitted since I do not eat meat and was assured it could. Although I am not a vegan since I eat seafood and dairy, the only vegetarian dishes offered was a plate of steamed vegetables and 1 pasta dish. I ordered the scallop salad and it arrived with Bacon therefore had to be sent back. I left without dinner because I couldn't bear the thought of sitting there in this hot, cramped, suffocating room waiting for another entree. To make matters worse my husband ate raw oysters and was regretting that decision when we came home and still hours later. We can now say we tried it and will never be back!

Great seafood in a wonderful historic building. It is always packed which is a testament to their excellently prepared and fresh seafood. It is somewhat pricey but that is often the case with fresh fish. It is a bit crowded and noisy which is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars.

The food at the farmer and the fish is always fresh and delicious. Farm to table where you can actually see the fields behind the restaurant. The drinks are outstanding (try the blueberry mojio!) The ambiance is great, very homey. If you have a chance to sit on the porch, take it!

wow! This is a great place to stop for a drink and have a very, very expensive meal. The bar staff is very friendly and quick to take your order, the wait staff is also very accommodating. The clientele is on the upper middle class scale, ostentatious and the type to want to be seen and rub elbows (literally) with the Real housewives/mistresses of Westchester County. It has small bar and small dining area, but if decide to have a meal you won't be disappointed half of the time; we've been a few times the first time we sat next to a very nice couple that even shared our dinner; dinner for 2 and drinks was $180; our last trip was on our anniversary this time the specials were not at all up to the experience of the other times. I had the fresh pasta with lobster chucks and in my opinion a bit of salt in the water to boil would have done wonders; the lobster was chewy and not good at all. My boyfriend had the steak special and that was not seasoned and not a great cut either. Dinner, appetizers and 2 drinks each was $209.00 - I would absolutely recommend this place for a nice appetizer and drinks if you're in the vicinity and you don't mind over paying just for the privilege of standing next to some housewife or Wall Street broker that likes to be seen but has nothing to say. Lastly, the bathrooms could use an upgrade.

This is a great restaurant for seafood (meat not so much) - the atmosphere is wonderful - it is one of the few places in northern Westchester that people like to hang out at the bar and meet new people - the steamers come Maine and are unbelievable - most things on the menu are great - F&F is a wonderful addition to this area (esp. for me coming from Brooklyn).

Great food and decor, inconsistent and sometimes terrible service. If I could give 4 stars for the food and 0 stars for the service we received while dining there last night, I would. Other than the shrinking portion size of the Fish & Chips my husband has ordered the last few times we've been there, the food itself has been excellent. I've enjoyed the East Coast Pan Roast and the Lobster Boil, which are both delicious. Last night I ordered the Lobster Boil but the waitress brought me a Lobster Roll. Fine, honest mistake. A simple, "Oh I'm sorry about that, I'll take care of this right away" would have sufficed. Maybe even an offer to buy us our next round, since my husband's dish would now get cold while I was waiting for them to cook mine. Unfortunately, the snooty waitress didn't see it that way-- at all. She wasn't pleasant to begin with, but when I told her I ordered the Lobster Boil and not the roll she just looked at me with an exasperated expression and muttered "You did??" and said that she would tell the kitchen. Maybe I'd understand if this was a particularly busy night and the waitress was overtaxed, but this was a Tuesday and there were several empty tables. Own up to your mistake and correct it without trying to make the customer feel like it was their fault you screwed up. Also, maybe smile once in a while instead of acting so above it all. We took the opportunity to order another round, since our beers had been empty for a bit and we wanted to have them to drink with our dinner. Time goes by, husband's fish gets cold, my lobster is brought out but still no beers. Waitress doesn't bring them until we're well into our meals. No apologies, and we never saw her again. We were there for over an hour and a half and we literally never saw our waitress until she asked if we wanted dessert. We did, but were sick of her ungracious attitude so we passed and called it a night. The hostess and the bus boy (who did a lot of the work for the waitress, since she disappeared after taking our orders) were very friendly and welcoming. The oysters are the best I've had in Westchester. Even so, I'm sad to say last night's experience took a bit of the shine off of this place for us.

I've been there 5 times, 5 different ways and the experience has always been good - whether it being a romantic dinner for me and my wife, a family lunch and dinner, a stop in at the bar for the unbeatable value of their Red White and Blue special, or a dinner with guests - - raw bar oysters are delicious, veggies and greens are fresh -you can taste that they were harvested on the day from the farm and gardens in the back - if you are early for your reservation, a walk around the grounds is a rewarding way to pass the time - the food is always good - prepared just right and the portions are proper - never mind thoughts of 'how do you get "local" seafood in upper westchester county?' It's all top notch - I would be hard-pressed to tell you how to get better sea fare - even a dish as mundane as Fish and Chips is incredible in this joint - Service has always been good - outdoor dining on the porch is nice in good weather conditions - the surrounding gardens are in top form at this time - the bar is cool, good beer taps and plenty of peanuts ( with shells tossed on the floor, extra cool!) - Last night's visit was excellent , our table was ready when we arrived, the gardens were abuzz with butterflies and wildlife, and every bite of food being right on - As far as the noise and 'loudness' issue, it was very noticeable on our first visit, bad acoustics leading to people talking louder to be able to be heard over the din - I noticed last night that they have tried to address this by installing acoustic panels on the walls in-between the framed photos, and it seemed to work - the music coming from the speakers gets lost in the mix and seems unnecessary, given the acoustic challenge of the space ( I could hear that there was music playing (from the speaker over our table) but couldn't discern the tunes ) - Great ambience, in or out - plenty of parking - clean bathrooms, private with diy steampunk sink plumbing - and cool photos of the area from an earlier era - A little pricey, but sooo worth it up here in the 'sticks' - Cheers!

New to area, just moved up from NYC, this place was a perfect meal and great intro to the area- giving me (and my fiancé) high hopes for quality cuisine outside NYC (which we were a little worried about). The adjacent farm store is also an awesome perk! Will def be back.

Went here last night for dinner, loved it. Never posted on Yelp before and not really a foodie so don't know how else to describe the food except delicious and creative, from start to finish: ricotta instead of butter with the bread, oysters, scallop salad, swordfish, homemade pasta (can't remember the specific meat sauce, my boyfriend ordered it, but pretty sure it was the only one on the menu), and two incredible desserts, both with caramel and salt ice cream on top that might have been the best ice cream I've ever had. We were too full to have coffee, but even the coffee smelled delicious. I'd highly recommend this place. Yes, it's crowded, but understandably so - it has great food, a great atmosphere, and very friendly and accomodating service. In particular, if you've just moved to Westchester from the city as I have, you'll love its West Village-y vibe despite being completely in the middle of nowhere, as far as I can tell (no offense to the neighbors!)

I really wanted to like this place. From the moment you walk in there's one word on your mind- NOISY. It's very crowded with lots of people talking and they have loud music and TVs going- it's so loud you can't even hear someone sitting next to you. But, I can put up with noise for a good meal. Unfortunately, the meal just wasn't that good. My fish and chips was more like fish sticks and McDonald's french fries- it was soggy and unflavorful. My husband's sword fish had wonderful seasoning and, if cooked properly, would have been a real home run. Unfortunately, it was tough and dry. My Mother-In-Law, who doesn't eat fish, opted for the Chicken Paillard. It was so dry that it reminded me of the turkey in the National Lampoons Christmas movie! The manager was kind enough to offer free dessert for our bad experience. It seemed like a lot of people were enjoying the lobster, so maybe I'll take another chance on this place when I've craving crustaceans.

I ate here a few weeks back and wanted to post: This place has A LOT of promise, but I probably will not be going back for the below reasons, but first the PROS: - Fun bar with good beers and peanuts in the shell that you toss on the floor (the shells), reminded me of days of my youth at The Ground Round - Cool vibe with country rustic chic decor - Lovely setting - I applaud the farm to table approach - The seared scallop salad appetizer is one of the better dishes I have eaten this past year - Prices are reasonable - The owner came over to our table and we had a nice conversation Cons: - This place is beyond loud. My date and I could barely hear each other talk and we actually had a few empty tables around us. They pack in too many tables for it even to be close to a comfortable noise level. And then as the place finally emptied out and quited down, they crank up the music so it is just as loud. To me, these type of noise levels are a turn off; it doesn't add to the atmosphere at all. - For it being a fish restaurant the selection of fish was very limited and the overall entree selections i thought were limited. - The service is very spotty. They have a lot of staff, but not a lot of good staff. The bartenders were bickering all night and their attentiveness was hot and cold. Once I asked a server for some fresh pepper and he gave me a very confused look- uh oh!! So, I will never return to this place during normal busy hours, but I can see coming for a beer and peanuts or for a late lunch for the scallop salad. Some more fish entrees, cones of silence for tables, plus more experienced waitstaff and then they may be on to something.

The lobster pot pie and the fish tomato special was very good. My mom had some fish, I can't remember the name, but it was very heavy with the cream sauce they put on it. I would rather have had it with out the sauce. The place is really what makes it. The house is old as dirt itself and it is charming in there. With an old house comes three fireplaces that keep it warm. The night we were there, it was rainy so they didn't have dry wood. I didn't mind the smoke much because I grew up with a fire place like that. It was quite nostalgic. The food overall was good, the wine list was in depth and it really was a cool and quite place. I will be going back again.

I liked, but didn't love this place. It's in such an interesting building and location - funky and cool. The interior decor was very nice. The service was excellent. But the food was just "good," and not "great." They brought out some really tasty bread and a fantastic butter spread to start. I had a lobster bisque as an appetizer, which was a little boring and bland, I couldn't finish it. My friend had some oysters, which she said were fresh and she liked them. I had a special seafood pasta for my main course, which was also a little bland. The pasta, which I think was fresh, was just not that appealing to me for some reason. My friend had crab cakes which were also just OK, but they came with a side of kale salad, which was really good. We had an 8 pm resrvation on a Wednesday night, and the place was super packed, which was surprising. I would agree with the other posts that it was very loud. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not in a rush to go back.

I agree with some of the things that many others have pointed out- -Very loud dining room -Very crowded dining room (people at the table next to us had to move their chairs just so we could squeeze by into our chairs and then every waitstaff and busboy stepped on my jacket hanging on the back of my chair!) -Inexperienced waitstaff Now, when the waitstaff suggests that the appetizer and meal orders go in at the same time, I worry. She mentioned it would take much longer for the main dishes if we did not do that. We assumed she knew best. Plenty of good choices on the menu and some specials as well. Fried calamari was tender and fresh, not greasy. Buffalo shrimp were outstanding! Both appetizers were very very small portions though, especially for the price. Too bad they came only MINUTES before the main dishes! EXACTLY what we did NOT want to happen. This was my first time here so I went for the bascis. I had the Scottish Salmon. When it came out I was shocked at how small the piece was. It was cooked just as I had ordered it but there was not much to eat, especially considering it is $24!!! I am not a cheap person. I just want good value for my money. The food is delicious. I am sure the staff will eventually get in the groove. But if you are going to charge those prices you have to give me decent sized portions.

I will not rate as I did not stay for the meal. My wife loves it there. We walked in and in only a moment I realized it was not for me, that evening at least. Loud and crowded. Not a welcome mat. Many of the reviews I have read make me feel we made the right move to another restaurant where we had a special meal in serene atmosphere with good service. btw had to rate to post.

Very loud, very crowded for Saturday dinner at 8pm. But we didn't have to wait. Cute country decor. Waiter was attentive. Very expensive for a large portioned dinner but the sides were strange and I didn't like them. Wine and beer (draft) were good. I won't go back for dinner, but may try a brunch sometime.

I went here on what was apparently their first day open for lunch. The inside is bright and clean, but I can imagine it being very loud- marble tables and hardwood floors will do that. The seafood is very fresh, which would be expected- (I think) the owner also owns a seafood distributing company/market. However, apparently it takes the kitchen 20 minutes to open a dozen oysters, and a further 25 minutes between courses to prepare an entree. My calamari was over-floured and largely tasteless, but my companion's sea scallops were great. I found service to be rather lacking- nobody in the place (including the bartender) knew the provenance of the beer I ordered, and when the waiter brought our variety of East Coast Oysters, he couldn't tell us which ones were which when I asked. Overall they seem like they are going to have a good thing going eventually as their food is fresh, but the bugs are still getting worked out. This area is crying for a good seafood place, so I hope they don't go the way of every restaurant before them in this building.

Good food but not worth the challenging dining experience which started from trying to wedge into a cramped table to waiting minutes for orders, more for drinks and yet more for spoons to appear once the soups were served. Waitstaff could be nicer and more attentive, perhaps remove a few tables in the back room. Would rather enjoy this seafood in Maine, where much of it is sourced.

The place is always packed, but can't understand why, except perhaps because of the limited choices in the area. Went once when it was new and had a mealy piece of swordfish, terrible service and vowed not to return for a long time. Then recently received a gift certificate there and so went back. The place is noisy, which would be ok if it were the only issue, but the service was still off: Drinks were late, appetizer was early, the server brought the mussels but forgot to leave the bowl for shells. We felt rushed. The raw bar shellfish tasted fresh but one of the oysters we ordered was mushy. The seared tuna was excellent, and another plus for the place is it grows its own vegetables, but neither of us ordered anything where we noticed. The by-the-glass wine list was good. Still, between the service, the noise, and the good but not great food, our initial impression was reinforced. We won't be back soon.

Only a 3 because we went the first week it opened and it was VERY VERY VERY BUSY! I want to give it another shot and hope to score a 4. The food was good - could have been a little better - maybe the chef should have spent more time in the kitchen than out in the dinning room sitting with friends and chatting up. I get you want to make an appearance but a hi and bye should suffice when you have a busy night. Price was very reasonable - I like that. I love the old barn feel. Very cozy, but LOUD! We could not hear each other talk. It was a packed place. I will definitely go again and hope I can give a better score.

Simply put the food was excellent but the service was terrible. We were seated promptly but after about 20 minutes of no service I went to the bar and bought my own drinks. Little surprised that domesticd beer was $6.50 a glass. Waitress finally showed up and while trying to place my order she informed me that she gave us the wrong menu. The food came in a timely manner but the waitress was so slow I had to go to the bar myself again... The dinner was served and for $36.00 they could have given me a knife for my steak. The waitress never came by during dinner so I had to grab a bus boy to get me a knife. I heard that the owners were seated near us and it would have been nice if they saw what was happening with the service... The waitress was very pleasant but her service was not up to par. I would return again because the food was so good but now I know what to expect.

Some co-workers and I ate here for lunch today. I got oysters that were fresh but could have been cleaned better prior to being shucked. I also got their Seared Scallop Salad which was the best salad I have ever had in my entire life. The scallops were cooked perfectly and there were huge, flavorful chunks of bacon. Service was fantastic up until the very end. Unfortunately, our party did not plan ahead and found ourselves with no cash when the bill came. We obnoxiously asked our poor sever to swipe several cards for the bill and it understandably frazzled her. Since I feel that this was our fault, I think that this would not be a reoccurring issue. I can't wait to visit again!

Food was amazing! A bit scene-y but surely that will pass. They did a great job renovating the old Purdy's Homestead - a historic building from the 1700's. The seafood was fresh and well prepared. The vegetables are all locally sourced, many from their own garden.

Although I love the organic aspect I ordered the salmon and it was awful. It was not at all what fresh wild salmon tastes like - didn't eat it - I told the waiter however it was not removed from the bill. Other things I was not fond of were that the string beans were barely cooked with no seasoning and they fried the tomatoes were fried in breading!?Nice place but not much flavor to anything.

Enh. I heard alot of hype about this place before I went. My Mom lives up the street so she had been a couple of times and kept informing me of how jam packed it is ALL the time. But, if you know anything about the area you know your options are The Blazer, Portofinos or cook your own damn dinner. How can a restaurant not be busy in this market? I will definitely go back and try again but have to admit I was unimpressed. First of all it was LOUD, as in leaning in to talk to your table mates and the waiter had to bend down to take any orders loud. That was kind of annoying. Hint to the owners, fabric wainscoting or padded chairs/seat backs. The wait staff seems fairly inexperienced and slightly bumbling but were friendly and enthusiastic so all good there. Except about midway through dinner all our service stopped. Turns out the table of 18 next to us had requested 13 separate checks! The food, first of all they were out of about half the menu including the appetizer and entree that I wanted. Unfortunately I had chosen my order before we got the word that they were out of everything in sight. I wanted the scallops salad but ended up getting the lobster roll instead. The lobster roll was really good but after reading the reviews about the scallop salad it makes me want it even more! My brother and I both ordered the Manhattan clam chowder. After placing the order the server came back and let us know they had just run out of the chowder but they still had the lobster bisque. My brother ended up getting that and it was burnt! It was sent back and the waiter didn't even ask any questions, it was clearly not the first time of the evening that the bisque had been sent back. Also the bread was awful, yellow and crumbly. I guess it was some kind of egg bread? maybe challah. We also got the seafood tower. It was good, my only gripe is that is came with a big lobster claw that had to be wrestled open. Kind of a pain in the ass, especially as I ended up wrestling it open so my Mom could eat it. WTF? haha Hopefully they stay open long enough for me to get back and try that scallop salad. I think the whole experience would have been better if it just wasn't so damn loud.

As previous reviews have noted: the food is very good; the noise level is bad and the service is uneven and disorganized. I know the owners are trying to do something about the noise level and I assume the service will even out as time goes on. The place opened about two months ago and most of the wait staff are young college kids who probably just started doing this kind of job. Prices were fair. The wine list was decent with prices about 2 1/2 times retail. I would certainly go back and try it again. It would probably be a good place to try for a Sunday brunch.

The ambiance is wonderful and a very charming country restaurant. The two downfalls we have found is that they are constantly out of things on their menu and the staff rushes you out. The food is good, when they have it.

This place is perfect. Well prepared food from high quality ingredients. Casual atmosphere and a great waitstaff. The oyster selection is the best in Westchester.

OK, what the heck happened here? Once overly plentiful water service has now been replaced by shot glasses of water on request only. Why we asked and we were reminded that the market we looked forward to seeing last August, slated to open in September, then October, no November, by Xmas, April fools Jan, no really Feb, absolutely March, promise April and still dormant in May had something to do with this mess. Once we moved past that history lesson in water conservation we noted that their tried and true service staff had somehow unraveled along with their market plans. When we asked for a specific male server when making a reservation, we found that he no longer worked there upon on arrival. When we asked for a female server we had grown accustomed to, we learned that she also was no longer in the fold. I don't often frequent establishments based on the service, but it was that service that cemented us as return patrons previously. I'm sorry to say that those shoes proved to be too large for their present staff to fill. We became preoccupied with the sheer lack of focus during service. The waitstaff seemed on edge, bickering about one thing or another between themselves and making excuses about why drinks were absent, items were out of stock, who was responsible for what short coming and how "someone" was looking for our wine. Maybe the wine was in the market with our water. In the end, the food we had come to think so highly of had somehow slipped some. Our portions seemed shrunken and maybe we had been influenced by all the other distractions or spoiled previously. Adding it all up, we left feeling very underwhelmed. The staff seems in disarray and that is clearly a reflection on management. We sensed that perhaps there had been a change in ownership as the only reason for such a divergent change in course in Purdys. As I read the other recent reviews prior to penning mine, there seemed to be a common thread that clearly existed before posting my comments. I can concur that reservations mean "nothing". I can also bare witness to over crowding and an overall poor dining experience as it relates to comfort. I don't need much (ok 2 seats on commercial) but I would like to hear the person next to me and I don't mean the table right next to me, but the guests I came with.

My husband, brother and I celebrated my birthday here last night. This place used to be our special occasion restaurant when it was owned by Charlie & Maureen and we have not been back since they left. We were delighted by the new floor plan and more importantly, the great food and friendly service. Husband and brother both have birthdays in January and we'll definitely be back. Don't miss the farm shop!

Loved the place for atmosphere and food quality - fresh, not "overdone" and delicious. This is a great place if you are feeling festive, not a good place for a quiet dinner. Others have noted that the tables are close together - true - but it adds to the casual and fun "vibe". This isn't a "white table cloth" kind of place -- it's busy, fast-paced, local farm fresh/raised food and a festive atmosphere. We had an excellent waiter - service was very good and friendly. I had halibut over risotto with fresh chopped vegetables mixed in - it was sooo good. So there you have it. I recommend for a group or a twosome, as long as you are not trying to be super quiet and intimate.

Good food, service was so so. Noise level LOUD LOUD LOUDER. impossible to hold a conversation. Packed in like sardines. Doubt that I will go back unless I hear that something was done about the noise and close proximity of other diners!!

Service was awful. Server lacked knowledge, skill and intent to please. Appetizers of oysters was decent but not special. Steamers were better. My wife enjoyed the soft shell crab. My seafood mix dish East Coast Pan Roast was just fair, not much flavor but certainly not bad. My desert, an ice cream over a layered cake was very good, probably the best thing I enjoyed. Atmosphere is active, older trendy (unusual for northern Westchester), nice post and beam country decor. Might try it again but not rushing back. They can use improvement on waitstaff big time.

The worst restaurant experience I've had in a long time. We had an 8:00 reservation (their reservation times are set by them) and were not seated until 9:00. The table they gave us was right by the kitchen, so constant traffic in an already extremely noisy restaurant. Our request to be moved was granted, but no "I'm sorry for the wait". The food was very good.

Had an interesting dinner here - food was good, but service could have been improved. The place itself also interfered with the meal. New owners opened up what had previously been small rooms. The place was busy but so noisy that conversation was difficult. We were at a table near the fireplace towards the back near a busy walk area. Unfortunately, the floor boards rocked the chairs every time someone walked by, and the waiters and other customers constantly bumped into the chairs. We may try it again, perhaps on a quieter night, and hope we can sit out of the way where we might be able to enjoy the meal.

Gonna try it this Sunday for brunch for the wife's birthday. I hope they fixed the noise issue everyone seems to be commenting about. Read through the website and truthfully am not impressed with all the typos. I hope they pay more attention to the food then they did to proof reading the site. Will come back and update my review then. I have high hopes so I'm starting off with 4 stars and I'll be back to update! Update: Went for brunch. Seated in the dining room which is tiny. Total of about 20 tables. Only 4 were full but the place was NOISY! Sound really carries in there. Service was decent. Servers were kinda sloppily dressed. I don't know if that's what they were going for; jeans and aprons and sloppy white shirts were the uniform. Ordered a mimosa for my wife. Even though the place was mostly empty and the bar was like twenty feet away and not all that busy, it still took over ten minutes to come and then it was a bloody mary! Sent it back, took another at least ten minutes to get the mimosa. Small breadbasket was put down with 3 small but delicious mini blueberry muffins and some sliced Italian bread of average quality, nothing special. Hint to the restaurant - pop the bread basket into the oven for a couple minutes! Maybe put out a bottle of oil for the bread, you know, like high class restaraunts do. The muffins were straight out of the refrigerator and would have been ten times better warm. Also, the tiny bit of butter we got on a small plate had obviously melted and been recooled so it solidified. You could tell from the color of it around the edges. May have even been at another table prior as it looked like plate had butter smears on it. My silverware was also mismatched as I had what looked like a kiddee fork. The food- my wife says the eggs Benedict was delicious. Almost the best she ever had. I had the omelette made with fresh garden veggies. I thought it was really good. Fluffy omelette, fresh ingredients though I couldn't taste the basil that was supposed to be in it. The home made potato hash browns were my favorite part of the whole dish. Couple next to us ordered a lobster cocktail. Turned out to be just a cooked lobster cleaved in half served on some ice. They said it was a tad tough. My wife says we are keeping this on the list for special occasions since its just a touch pricey. I'll keep it at 4 stars since everything else notwithstanding, the food itself was really good. One thing I forgot till I read another review was that when the bill came there was an extra drink on it. A vodka we never ordered. Waiter took it off so I didn't really think about it till I read the other review about being overcharged for drinks. I hope this isn't a "thing" here and is just sloppiness. If its not, someone's gonna get in trouble!

This place is an absolute gem! The food is fantastic and the owners/staff friendly and accomodating. I was there with group of 6 friends a few weeks ago. It was a busy night so we had some drinks before being seated. We ordered some appetizers from the raw bar which were incredible! Dinner was top notch. I had the mussels and striped bass both very fresh and well prepared. The dining room has a very cozy/rustic feel. Personally, I like it when a chef interacts with the patrons of an establishment. This makes for a more welcoming experience. I plan to return with my family for Mother's Day brunch.

The only reason why I don't give it five stars is that they are new, and like any new restaurant you cannot expect perfection. I know a little something about Chef Michael's career, and have been impressed with his passion and skill for the culinary arts. Rather than take the easy route, he worked his way through the ranks in some of the finest restaurants in New York City, and then went back to school to study agriculture and learn how to tend a farm, which he's doing on the property at the restaurant. Since his business partner owns a seafood business, you know you're getting the best. There is no doubt in my mind, that Michael's passion flows through his food. While service admittedly needed slight improvement, I'm sure that will be resolved in no time. The scallop tartare melted like butter and the Big Eye Tuna exploded with flavor. And Oh My God!, you will remember the white chocolate bread pudding with salty caramel ice cream. Give them time while they iron out what are a couple of very addressable wrinkles; you won't be disappointed. Besides, you have to love a high-end restaurant where throwing peanut shells on the floor is encouraged.

So new there is no proper sign, so I stopped in to check out what was happening. In the location formerly of The Homestead restaurant, this looks like a winning formula. Fresh seafood, simple preparations, fair prices, and a bottle of hot sauce on each table. They've got the hill terraced and deer fence in for what could be a super promising garden-to-the-table situation as we get into the summer. Captures a simpler character of the town.

i had dinner there with some relatives last monday and, as a result, was reluctant to get on my plane back to LA. you easterners have no clue how lucky you are to have a restaurant serving such great seafood, in the middle of the "country", at reasonable prices. the boiled lobster was perfect. the oysters were incredible. my brother had an amazingly grilled piece of fish. a batch of crisp french fries heightened the experience. the service is friendly, even charming. say hello to Sandy, the owner and the great, big bartender who has many ideas of what you should drink with what. you walk into this quaint, old house and the atmosphere has the energy of a small manhattan restaurant--not bad, at all, for upper westchester!

Heard so much I had to try it. Went for a Friday lunch and bottom line, I don't need to go back. Service was terrible, waitress ignored us, couldn't tell what type of oysters were available, had to get up to pour my own wine and was a real struggle to get a check. The place is very noisy and the food was mixed. Oysters were fresh, scallops were very good, lobster was okay but nothing special, and the fish on the fish and chips was greasy and lacked flavor. The concept is great but the execution is terrible!

Living in the northeastern corner of Westchester County gives you limited dining options, but eating/drinking here is an incredible treat no matter what you will be comparing it to. A limited but seemingly incredibly fresh selection of fish and shellfish dishes in a great atmosphere in an old farmhouse. Oysters! Soft shell crab! Brook trout! Make a reservation or else be prepared to wait at the bar, since it seems like the reservation book has been filled in since it opened. Indoor dining room is very loud, but if the weather is nice you can sit out on the front porch for a quieter meal. Attracts a great mix of granola bar locals and sophisticated horse country "weekenders". Dress casual but smart to fit in. If the lot out front is full, park across the street in the town park parking lot.

Simply put, this place has some of the best quality food I've ever had (the veggies tasted like they had just been picked that day and the fish seemed to have been swimming only hours before). But, this is cancelled out by the fact that the food is greatly under seasoned (my husband had to add salt to the fish and chips as there was none at all). And I received a piece of salmon that although very tender and fresh had absolutely no seasoning except for grill char. Add to this the fact that we were seated at a two- top that was totally inaccessible to the wait staff and uncomfortably close to the neighboring table. The bread pudding dessert was the highlight of the meal, as was the farmer's salad. My husband enjoyed the shrimp fried rice, but again it had no flavor except for freshness. It was noisy and over-hyped inside the restaurant. We decided that a better comparable meal could be had at 121 in north Salem, although it would be much more expensive there :)

I've been here once and it was the best environment ever That old fashion looking restaurant was great and the idea of having a farm in the back its original and I don't think Emy oft does that anymore The fish dishes are very good I'll go there again and I recommend it to anyone
