Amazing, the service was great. Hookah on point. We got drinks on the house. Can't stop raving about it.

This is a review after my 5th or so visit. The Kiosk is right down the block from a friend's house that I often visit. We initially went there on a cold winter night seeking warmth and refuge from an apartment that was way too cold. Ambiance: Low sensual lighting that works and doesn't make you feel like a dancer in the dark. Sometimes the music can be just a tad bit loud, but that's usually when you've probably been sitting in there too long and you've heard the same playlist three times. There's never really been a crowd and it seems like a place that people go solo, on a date, or a small group. It is a small space, but you never really have to worry about rubbing elbows with the person next to you. *Great mural depicting Moroccan culture covers the wall. Service: There is one waitress/ hostess whose name I always forget because I'm terrible with names. (I believe her name is Lana, or Nala). Her husband is the owner (I suppose that makes her the owner as well). She is nice, and wavers between attentive and seemingly unaware. I do think that she's initially attentive the first few times you visit and then gauges her service afterward upon that. I usually go with one or two friends, and we generally are low maintenance, never asking for anything, so the last couple of times, it has been a bit harder to get her attention. Drinks: Beer selection is limited. Kind of caters to the locals (little Mexico) so there's Corona, Modelo, and mayyybe Budweiser. As for the cocktails- Very tasty, a bit small, not particularly strong, but unique creations that tantalize the palate and pair well with the hookah. Hookah: Pretty much the usual, but lasts quite long and is smooth. They do a good job. Food: The first time I tried the food, I liked it, but didn't love it. I primarily got some appetizers that are standard fare, but I wasn't in love. My friend devoured it. The next time, we split the Tilapia. YUMMA! $15 kind of a lot for a bottom feeder (Is it one?) but it was delicious. I recommend skipping the cold food and going for the hot stuff. It's prime. Bathroom: Single stall. Always clean, Smells good. Important to me because I have a phobia of public restrooms. Wifi: Ayy!!! They got you and so does Time Warner Cable

Since this place is only three blocks away from my apartment and I was craving Mediterranean food which is really hard to find in East Harlem, I decided to check out this place. Contrary to the shabby looking building, the inside of the restaurant was filled with beautiful murals which the owner's brother from Morocco painted. The tables and chairs looked a bit old and the menu is not extensive but I left the restaurant very happily with an amazing chicken kebab with rice dish! It's a type of place that's hidden so I felt like I found a treasure spot. The reason why I'm leaving 5 stars is because this place also has a great hookah that doesn't make you choke for $20 and the owner is super nice - when my boyfriend asked if there's a tea, he said no and got my boyfriend a cup of tea from next door (AND didn't charge us)! I'm bringing my friends next time for sure.

Cool lay low spot mostly a nice crowd . Its a place for friends or a chill spot for your deeper nights

Lovely intimate spot. Layla is a sweetheart and makes the best drinks. My favorite dish is the Lamb w/ rice with warm pita bread and humus on the side. The hookahs are nice addition for the hookah heads out there!

Great place for food and drinks, intimate. Hookah is really good.

I've been to this place 3 times and always with a Groupon, their menu is too expensive $16 for 6 small pieces of lamb, small serving of rice and a couple of table spoons of eggplant? The food is ok, and a couple of things are good, like the goat cheese salad, but they would have much better business if they either lower the prices or increase the portions.

Nice place to chill and start the night with a light or strong hookah . Owners are good hosts and they will comfort you to any style

Starting from the host Laila's beautiful smile that makes the Moroccan experience so warm and welcoming,The Kiosk has become my place away from home to kick back relax and enjoy the best hummus with toasty Pita bread I've ever had. I've tried almost everything on the menu but my 2 favs have to be the chicken kabob and the Moroccan chicken salad. I really love this place and highly recommend it... It's a gem in Spanish Harlem..

This is a nice locally-owned business that has a welcoming, casual atmosphere, great Mediterranean food, and even hookahs! It's really the hookah that keeps me coming back, since there are not too many places that offer this in my area. There is a nice selection of flavors and it lasted a reasonable amount of time. The food we ordered was very good (a selection of appetizers) and we even got second helpings of a couple things. I wouldn't have minded a wider selection of entree choices. Our waitress (who might also be the owner and/or manager?) was friendly but not super attentive. We had to chase after her whenever we wanted something. All in all, it's a good place to come if you're not in a rush and you want a small meal, good drinks, and a relaxing hookah.

Pretty empty on a Tuesday night but it made the setting more intimate. The waitress was super sweet and she handled everything well. The drinks were really good. The hookah was pretty good too. Didn't run out as fast as I thought. Used a groupon with them and ended up paying less than $20 which is better than paying full price. Good place to go with less than 4 people.

This is my first review on Yelp. It's honestly one of my favorite places in the city. It's my safe place. It's cozy and you should bring a special person here even if you don't do hookah. The hosts are a married couple. Very loving people. Check it out.

This is a nice little intimate hookah bar. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The hookah was good and the drinks as well. They play Arabic music very low. The best part was that we used the yelp deal 15 for 30 which saved us, it was basically a free hookah.

Came here to try out some Moroccan food. The Moroccan tea was very good - very minty. It reminded me of the Afghani tea I had tried earlier this year. For the entrees, I chose the Chicken Pastilla and Vegetarian Tajine. The Chicken Pastilla is similar to a filo pastry, like burek. I liked it a lot. It has a crispy, flaky exterior and was filled with savory saffron chicken. The Vegetarian Tajine however was just so-so for my tastes. I had wanted to get the Beef Tajine but they said it was not available. The tajine tasted like a basic vegetable stew to me. It has a strong olive taste (olive oil and whole olives). This seemed like a nice place to try authentic Moroccan food. The portion size of the food is slightly small though and the food didn't wow me.

I love Moroccan food and wanted to try this place. The place is small but it has a lot of character, the service was really good. I started with the feta cheese and spinach triangles which were really good. Then I order the chicken and shrimp paella and my dinner companion had the chicken pastilla. The paella was good but nothing to rave about however the pastilla was delicious. I had pastilla in Morocco last year and let me tell you this tasted just like the one there. I also had a grapefruiti margarita which was very tasty. I can't wait to come back and for sure order the chicken pastilla.

The ambiance was great! If you are looking for Calm setting to smoke hookah this is your place. It's not super fancy but perfect for what I needed

  • Jeniva Q.

The hostess is adorable but can get distracted so you have to really grab her attention at times. The Moroccan salad was incredibly refreshing with all fresh diced veggies & the lamb is delicious! Some pieces of chicken were a bit dry but still good. The drinks are simple and strong for their moderate price. The hookah is great! Wide selection and fun fruit options but most importantly it last a long time! Which, if you smoke hookah, you know is not only rare but also greeting appreciated.

Hookah smokers chillin to Morrocan tunes while the ventilation system keeps the air clear. Inside this off the beaten path Moroccan themed restaurant, the interior has changed a few times over the years, but the food and drinks are consistently great. Lela has been the server and bartender here for the past couple of years and does a great job of providing friendly and consistent service. Lela is also an amazing mixologist, and my g.f. loves her Cosmopolitans. She is very particular about her drinks, and Lela's Cosmo at The Kiosk is the only place in the city where she will order one, (or 2, or 3!). Lela uses fresh ingredients and her drinks never slide over to the "too sweet" side. Lela's Mojito's are great too, but last night she recommended a grapefruit margarita. It was outstanding, but next time I will order it with a lime wedge. : ) The restaurant was empty when we arrived around 6pm on a Monday night, (we prefer empty places) but was almost full in a few hours. So, while sipping perfect drinks, we snacked on the amazing triangles appetizer of feta and spinach in a light and flaky filo dough, and shared an order of the deliciously potent garlic shrimp app. It comes with warm pita triangles for soaking up the amazing sauce. A must. Lastly, I've read reviews saying that the restaurant is in a "sketchy neighborhood" but in the 5 years we've been going to The Kiosk we've never had any trouble. Yes, it's in a part of the city that's a little run down, but like anywhere in NYC, just make sure you are aware of your surroundings and you'll be just fine. To pass up the chill experience, food and drinks of The Kiosk over a location just isn't worth it. If anything, a few visits will make you even more of a "New Yorker" than you think you already are. : )

Boring.... It was completely dead in this joint... hookah was lackluster, I just wasn't entertained or impressed by this local spot. Drinks was over priced for the taste and quality.

Love the food and love the owners. They really make you feel like you are in small restaurant in Morocco. Well, I have not been to Morocco, but they have left that impression on me. I usually go with the Spinach triangles, the goat cheese salad, and the lamb with rice. Of course, you have to try their hummus and make sure to ask for some Harissa if it did not come with your meal. Love this place!

I came here because I got the living social deal that was a three course meal plus a bottle of wine for $40. It was worth it for the deal, but had I paid any more for my meal, I would have been disappointed. First, the bottle of wine was so very obviously cheap. We got the red one and it tasted like a less sweet version of Manischewitz wine. It was drink-able, so ok, I understand they arent going to give their best bottle for a living social deal. The appetizers were delicious. I was impressed actually. I got the spinach and feta triangles and my date got the pureed eggplant and we were both very, very happy. Sadly, the entrees were quite a let down after the appetizers. My date had the fish and enjoyed it, but I got the lamb kofta tagine, which tasted over seasoned and like someone dropped a canister of salt on it. It was not inedible, but it was way too salty to be great. The dessert, a bread pudding, was alright. Nothing special, a little dry. The service was pretty good, so all in all it was a fine experience. I don't think its worth it though to go all the way to 116th street for this food though. It was incredibly average and nothing special.

We had a three course meal here that was purchased from Groupon. The vegetable soup tasted salty and looked and it just came out of a can, the talapia fish main course wasn't bad, and the brownie dessert tasted like something from the supermarket.

What do you get when you cross a handful of semi-professional actors, singers, a photographer, and dancers with entirely too much champagne? You guessed it! A sing-along dance party photo shoot in the back of Kiosk!!! I sometimes forget the little inner attention seekers my friends have in them, but either the champagne or the the fact that a camera was brought out turned them all into quite the spectacle. Good thing it was dimly lit and there were only a few other people in the place. Kiosk has a very friendly crew running the place, the dj was a sweetheart who was fully supporting the ten-person dance party in the back, and what little food I tried looked great. The area we took over was more loungesque, with cushioned benches lining the back nook. The front of kiosk is scattered with tables, so you have your choice of setting. Not entirely won over, but seemed like a nice pitstop if you're in the area. **Warning: entertainment not normally provided.... contact if you'd like to borrow my friends.

I came here to use the living social deal. $40 is not a bad deal, but the food was uneventful and bland. Aside from the ceiling lamps, the experience was poor. The food is nothing special. For appetizers, my wife and I had the hummus and babaganush, and the mashed eggplant. Again, the flavors were bland. I've had better moroccan food elsewhere. The hummus from Costco is more flavorful. The tilapia and cous cous was deflating. $20 out of the $40 was for the bottle of wine. My wife was pregnant, so I telly couldn't finish the whole bottle. But I had paid for it. However they would not let me take the left over bottle back home. Even though it was re-corked, and in a bag. The experience should have been worth $20. I would not go back there again.

I'm a big and discriminating fan of Moroccan cuisine. I've taught myself to cook many dishes and if I can't get great tasting Moroccan food, I'll just stay home and cook it myself. Thankfully The Kiosk doesn't disappoint. And fortunately, this cosy resto-bar's just up the street in East Harlem. I recommend the tagines (chicken and preserved lemon; lamb with prunes; kofta in a simple tomato sauce); the couscous; chicken kabob. Starters like Zalouk (eggplant) are first rate. The prices are moderate and there's a full bar. The owner's recently added an intimate lounge in the back: traditional Moroccan seating and tables.

A little hidden gem in East Harlem. Great food, great service and a super-cozy, friendly little space. My boyfriend and I love this little restaurant with it's fresh Moroccan food and Free Wi-Fi and a super friendly owner who actually takes the time to talk to customers. We've never waited for a table and I hope it stays that way. Try their fabulous homemade lemonade and Chicken Tagine!! DELICIOUS!

I wanted to update my review because I am now a regular of The Kiosk and I have to encourage people with some updated comments. The owner is the nicest guy on the planet and makes you feel welcome and appreciated. The food is still excellent. He's reconfigured the place a few times and it does feel constantly under construction but hopefully he'll wrap that up soon enough. This is a total gem of a place. Go and enjoy. I still would love for them to work on getting creative with the beer and wine list but overall this is a neighborhood favorite.

I really did enjoy this little Moroccan resto + hookah bar in Harlem. It was TINY and could have benefited from some heat, but the music was delightful and the mural on the wall was amazing. It was very intimate and I ended up befriending strangers a few tables down. My peach hookah was of good quality, but I forgot that I cannot have peach hookahs as they give me a massive headache. I will not forget this again! My server was certainly not a hookah, food or drink expert at all, but she was very kind. Food was good and cheap; portions were huge. I would definitely come back here next time I am in the area.

  • Brenda D.

I would have given it 4 stars if they had a dessert menu. I thought Moroccans liked their pastries, so like any other time I go out to dinner- I look forward to also having dessert! Needless to say, I was disappointed to hear they only had brownies and baklava :/ For an 'authentic' dining experience... brownies? Really? Otherwise, the main food and drink variety was yummy. Couscous was good, as was their Moroccan mojito. I would have stayed longer- given the ambience and all- but with extremely limited dessert choices, we were out the door earlier than we wanted to be.

I had a surprise birthday dinner for my boyfriend at this restaurant....it was a wonderful night. The staff were very patient and accommodated every request. We were also checked on constantly by the owner to make sure we were comfortable at all times. The Kiosk offers a great intimate setting and good food. Order the scrumptious mashed potatoes and couscous. Don't settle for a glass of sangria, get a pitcher, or two and enjoy the coolness of this uptown jewel. I trekked from Brooklyn and would do it again. You won't regret it!

  • Samantha H.

What an amazing gem in an unexpected place! My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary and loved it. The food was great, service incredibly friendly (the waiter even gave us a couple free glasses of sangria), and the hookah was a fun touch. Definitely worth the trek to east Harlem!

gave Kiosk a second chance. i still think its rinky dink but this time i'll call it "quaint, cozy and intimate" instead. the moroccan mojito was delish because its made with one of my most favorite ingredients--ginger. i normally dont like mojitos (mint leaves are stupid) but im a huge fan of ginger. the moroccan salad was pretty good too. topped off with a few pulls of the peach flavored hookah and it was a good evening.

I think I'm in love. My best friend and I visited Kiosk when it first opened, for just coffee... well, you would think that we had ordered an 8 course meal, the owner (who is fine! And, we both agreed and fought over him!) treated us with such great love and hospitality. We decided to come back for more, sucks that almost a year passed before we did, nonetheless, glad to do so. We both ordered the Merguez Kabob and as Merguez snobs, I have to say it was the best we've ever had. Accostumed to buying Merguez at Citarella, Les Ambassades and Bar 6, the Merguez at Kiosk will put others to shame, the rice on this dish was perfectly flavored and cooked and the sauce was impeccable. I lean over to my friend and said to her "I bet you it's home made Merguez", I love being right, it is! Server was a bit on the clueless side, but we're industry snobs, having worked for 3 and 4 star restaurants, Michelin stars, etc... Support this little gem in the neighborhood, it's totally worth it!

i recently lived in east harlem for 4 years so i was pretty excited when kiosk opened around the corner from me. the staff is super friendly and accommodating and the food is flavorful and filling. i will say i preferred the decor before renovation -- the tables in the back were framed by intricate woodwork with pillows strewn about. now that they've opened up the space it lacks some of that intimate charm, but it's still got good energy. there's a really cool table for 3 that is up the stairs and overlooks the rest of the place. ask for the special (which they seem to have more often than not) - saffron rice with chicken, shrimp and sausage. yum!

OMG!!! The best food I have ever had in my life. The place is beautiful. My husband took me here for a surprise date night. I had the Pan Seared Tilapia with balsamic glazed vegetable tajine & lemon caper olive sauce with a side of Asparagus. If this dinner was the last one I was going to have for the rest of my life, I would die a happy woman. IT WAS THAT GOOD!!!! Then they gave us the desert that was like a brownie but it was between a cake and brownie consistency with homemade ice cream with powdered sugar all over and raspberry drizzle to make it look pretty. I will forever call it "Sex on a Plate." There is no exaggeration to anything I'm saying. I am a very picky eater and very particular about where I go to eat. My husband knows me very well to take me here without me knowing anything about the place before. Everyone needs to go and check this place out. I can not forget, Oscar makes the best drinks in East Harlem.

My friend took me to this place for my birthday and I was in for a surprise. The food was delicious and the owner was so nice. They serve specialty dishes and great Moroccan food. It's a nice cozy and comfortable lounge in Spanish Harlem. I had the rice with lamb sausage and my friend had the tilapia. The owner was nice to bring me dessert which was a rich creamy piece of chocolate cake. It was heaven! They offer great tangines too! Next time I will try the hookah!

This is now my favorite spot in all of East Harlem. The couscous is amazing, as is the lamb tagine. The atmosphere is just a perfect and I could spend hours inside. Also highly recommended is the House Sangria. Get a pitcher, share with friends, start off with a Mediterranean platter, and a couple of entrees and sides. I also dig the murals and music. I am lucky to be a block away from this gem.

Such a cozy little hang in El Barrio! Last week, I spent a great deal of time hobnobbing through 100+ blocks of Harlem, and I'm bound to return for more adventures soon. But one familiar face I'll certainly return to is this here Kiosk. Being quite the fanatic of Mediterranean cuisine, their bill of fare hit the spot. An array of great-tasting spanakopitas filled with spinach, beef, and chicken, as well as perfectly-smokey baba ganoush, and falafel + hummus that'd satisfy any Moroccan-seeking palate. Upon my next hurrah, I'll have to treat my lungs to a few puffs at their hookah bar. Emphysema never tasted so good!

I had my first experience at Kiosk on monday night with a group of neighbors. It's really great to find a wonderful middle eastern spot in my neighborhood. The owner, Munir, (who is also the chef) stopped by to chat with us at the end of the meal. It's a great, cozy spot with authentic food that is priced very well. We ordered quite a few things on the menu and were very happy with all of them. I'll definitely be coming back and ordering delivery from them in the near future!

  • Ginny A.

Was really disappointed to find they only do the Moroccan specialty of chicken/preserved lemon & olive tagine as a special and there's no bastilla on the menu. Over 3 continents I've never been to a Moroccan place where these aren't staples. Unfortunately my next two choices on the menu were also not available because apparently they rotate the menu but there was nothing added so the food choices were very limited. Goats cheese salad was amazing, would love to know what brand the cheese was because it was the smoothest I've ever tasted but our server said she didn't know & apparently didn't want to check. The tilapia was reasonable but the rice was way too salty. Great cocktails & good music which didn't drown out conversation. Found the extra charges for charcoal & head changes weird but maybe that's standard in the U.S. (it isn't in Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, the UAE, UK or Australia & the basic price isn't exactly cheap to begin with). Finally it was annoying to have to run out to find an ATM because they didn't think to tell us their cc facilities weren't working until after we finished eating/smoking. I REALLY wanted to like this place which probably bumped up my rating to 3 stars and maybe I went on a bad night but unfortunately I wasn't really impressed.

MY FAVORITE HOOKAH SPOT HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!! The service is awesome! The food is super flavorful and amazing!!!!! The place is very cozy and the ambiance is great! The people there are very kind and always make it an exceptional experience. There were times that people would walk in close to closing time and they would welcome them with open arms and serve them without hesitation. They are always smiling and excited to see their customers leave with a smile. I recommend this place to EVERYONE!

Very nice service and cute place. Most food was very good: salad with apple and goat cheese, tilapia, rice (especially delicious - so well flavored), hummus. The only complaint was regarding the lamb kebab, it was very tough. The hostess was lovely.

I personally know the owner, the food is good...especially the couscous. This is a gem in Harlem, especially spanish Harlem. Unfortunately the food made me sick the last time and I haven't been back since, but eventually will go back as the food was really good.

Finally used a groupon I purchased a while back for this place. I live close by and had always wanted to check it out but it was not that great. First of all, its expensive! Bill came out to over $50 for mediocre food. I ordered the hummus side-it tasted home made but it was too chunky and could have used some more blender to make it a smooth consistency. For the entree, I had a chicken and shrimp paella for $16. It came on a small plate with three pieces of chicken and shrimp each. For the money, I would have expected a larger portion. My bf ordered the Kofta tajine which turned out to be a lamp and beef meatballs with a spicy sauce and rice on the side. Both dishes were small, overpriced and too spicy. The restaurant is small, NEIGHBORHOOD restaurant and not some fancy place. It has about 10 tables in the entire place with cushions on the seats and some moroccan lamps. That's about it. They also charge $20 for a kookah. While I did think the food was ok, this place is just OVERPRICED for what it is. I would return if it was cheaper but not worth the money at this point.

Okay food. Great hookah. Ordered shrimp. It had way to much garlic & vinegar and 5 super small pieces of shrimp. Not worth $9. Feta and spinach triangles were great. The sauce that came with it tasted like canned marinara sauce with spices added to it. It was a bit to tangy. Also ordered the platter with olive tapenade, baba ghanoush, and hummus. Baba ghanoush was excellent, tapenade was way to salty, and hummus didnt have enough salt. Bummer. Hookah was nice and strong. Food came out quickly. Server was a sweetheart but took forEVER to refill water which annoyed my sister because she drinks water like a thirsty camel in the dessert. Oh & I also came here with a Groupon. I'd return for Hookah but not food. It didn't seem like authentic Morrocan eats.

Even though it was a Monday night, there were a decent amount of people there and the service was timely. The waitress let us know that the Blue Mist flavor was the tops at that time, so we got one hookah and chilled out for a little while. We didn't get anything to eat so our bill was extremely reasonable. The music really made the experience as well. There were some great Arabic tunes and reggae as well as some new wave ambient music. I even spoke a little Arabic to the owner when we left. Solid place.

It's jenkier than you would expect from the site. The waitress was very nice and the food came out very quickly. They had a goat cheese salad with pears that was nice with a generous amount of cheese. Their hummus was good..babganoush average. The chicken kebab was not bad. Small bits of chicken and a flavorful rice. I'm used to Turkish kebabs so it wasn't what I was expecting. Smaller portion of chicken than I've had at other middle eastern establishments. It's really a "Meh.." but the staff hospitality bumps it up

I wasn't planning on going to this restaurant at all, because the restaurant I chose was closed down, great! But after walking on 116th street all we saw were spanish restaurants and I wanted something different, and a small sign that said Kiosk, and we didn't know what type of food it was until we walked in and asked to look at the menu. My boyfriend was sold, after all he did love Moroccan food, for me, I've never had Moroccan. We ended up getting seated immediately and the person who served us was so nice, small staff, just 2 waiters who looked like they owned the place, also working the bar and the back, and then a couple busboys to help bring the food out. We got the Middle Eastern Platter, and the babaganoush was amazing, less eggplanty than other places, but still really good. It came out with really hot pita bread slices, something warm, and served really fast and just plain yummy. I ordered the Merguez platter, which was the spicy lamb sausage, it was perfectly cooked, not too salty sausage that tasted peppery and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the lamb shank tajine and omg I should've ordered this instead but I'm glad my boyfriend doesn't mind me stealing his food! The lamb was cooked so tender and amazing, in their sweet prune sauce, and slivered toasty crunchy almonds with couscous. SO GOOD. They really did a great job on this item. And we also split the sangria, it was good, a little different more bitter than other sangrias I've had, but it was still refreshing, though I'm not sure I would want to pay $30 for a pitcher again. But definitely new favorite spot in the neighborhood!

Small little place in a sketchy neighborhood. I came here with a Groupon and had the Hookah which was great but the drinks were so-so. Their cocktails were a bit bland; definitely missing some pizzazz. Overall, a decent place to go to with a Groupon.

I never review pioneering places in my hood negatively if I can help it. We ordered a veggie dish to go that had carrot and other veggie slices that were I kid you not a half-inch thick and three inches long and nearly uncooked. Whenever I walk by NO ONE is in there. Once we went to dine in and yelled for several minutes to no avail at the entrance. Very strange. Weird. Believe me I love middle Eastern food and would love this review to be fictional and unfair, but it's too true. And several of the Yelp and Menupages reviews strike me as having been written by the so-described "super-cute" owner himself. Or his mother. Ugh.

Always an amazing time. My boyfriend and I had a hookah craving and discovered Kiosk was so close to our apartments. We have been numerous times and have never had bad service, bad food or bad hookah. The food is always great, try the Zesty Garlic Shrimp: its the definition of zesty. Drinks are awesome, especially the mojitos. This is one of my favorite places in NYC.

My first shot at Moroccan food. Cute little spot and great atmosphere. Small, quaint, and full of surprises: hookah, belly dancers, and a live DJ. The sangria is excellent and the chicken tajine (I was convinced to try) was quite salty but delicious.

We have been here a few times and the food is great. They also have a mango mesh drink that is very good. We always get the chicken pastilla here. However, today they didn't have so I went with the chicken shish kabob that comes with hummus and mash potatoes and that was very good as well. They also have hookah that I'll most likely try another day though.

I can't comment on the food because I didn't order any, but I will comment on the hookah and service. The waitress was not very attentive we had to walk over to where she was chatting with another worker for water refills and for our check. The shisha was harsh and the hookah didn't pull well. The hookah itself wasn't well made, the pipe fell out several times when we were trying to smoke. After standing up and asking for assistance she replaced the coals but didn't bring a new or different hookah. Soon afterwards we were getting ash in the pipe. Very unpleasant hookah experience.

I went to Kiosk last night, for the first time. The waitress was very pleasant. The wait for food was very reasonable. Food was great! I had lamb kebab. The spinach and feta cheese was exquisite! All food was cooked to order and therefore very fresh. The owner was very hospitable and made us feel extremely comfortable.

Decided to trek up here after work one day to check out a new 'hood for some food. I started with the crabcakes, though I knew they were probably store bought and heated up for me, I just wanted some crabcakes that night. Not bad, and the greens that came with it came with an interesting dressing, not sure how to describe it at all. For an entree I got the lamb shank, and that was a definite winner. Fell off the bone, perfectly flavored with the dates and almonds especially when combined with the couscous. I strongly recommend this dish if you want something genuinely Moroccan here. Dessert was a chocolate brownie and was very good too, though I wish they offered some type of Moroccan dessert or at least something from the area. Service here was excellent, the server was extremely friendly, I felt like he must've been a part owner or something because he seemed to take such an interest in making sure I enjoyed everything.

Solid Place! Came with a group of friends for a birthday day (they comped our dessert!) and had a great experience! I ordered the Tilapia and wasn't really expecting much but it was soooo good - cooked to perfection! Our group also had two hookahs, one Apple and one Berry-something or another. $15 for each which is a steal in the city!!! It is in a random location in the city and a little small but I live nearby so it's actually great to have it so close to my place!! It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

The atmosphere here was amazing. Moroccan music, dim lights, and beautiful wall paintings really whisked us away to Casablanca. For appetizers, we ordered the eggplant curry and goat-cheese salad. The curry was good, but the salad was much better. We each ordered the minced lamb and beef for our entrees, and only wished the portions were bigger. Dessert was bread pudding, which was decent.

I was very excited to check this place out but it was a real let down. The food was awful, the service was not up to par, and the ambiance was nothing special. We had a groupon so it wasn't too expensive, but the food is definitely not worth the prices they charge. Appetizer: The middle eastern platter appetizer was old, and the humus tasted like it came out of a can. The tomato cucumber salad was lifeless and bland. Main Course: For a main course I had the vegetable couscous which was a plate of couscous with the carrot/pea/corn/lima bean frozen vegetable packet on top. There was no broth, no spices, and no fresh anything. My partner had the lamb merguez which came with a side of saffron rice and vegetables. My partner stated that he has had better rice out of a packet, and the veggies were the same defrosted veggie pack as on my couscous. The service was very slow, though the staff were nice. We asked to take our barely touched food to go (we were going to add some spices and veggies to it to eat tomorrow) and the waiter ended up tossing the food (though it might be for the better). The decor was ok, but there are a million better places in terms of ambiance, and definitely food! I think the best part were the small woven baskets that the pita bread came out in, they were quite pretty :) Overall, I would not recommend this place at all.

Great food, great hookah, great hosts. This is an awesome addition to the many new restaurants in Harlem. Groupon users, don't complain about your 1/2 price meal. Be happy it exists! I look forward to happy hour.....

I came here maybe having high expectations. I was hoping for a real Moroccan experience: floor seating, belly dancers, hookah, eating with your hands, etc. this place really didn't have any of that except the hookah. We ordered a pitcher of sangria, which was very strong and not sweet. The hookah was very good and the food was very good too. I guess it really comes down to the ambiance. It's a very cramped space. It sort of felt like a low end diner that served Moroccan food and hookah. This place gets 3 stars for me for good service and food, but loses 2 for bad drinks and a somewhat unpleasant atmosphere.

I came here with a Living Social deal and found the entire experience to be decidedly less-than-memorable. The service was slooooooow, the wine wasn't awful, but definitely not amazing, and the food lacked any spark. I had the chicken kebabs and a few of the smaller pieces on the ends were too hard to even attempt to eat. I loved the lamps and thought the seating area slightly raised up a few twisty steps was really cute and intimate, but overall, I was bummed about how little I was impressed.

Went there recently because I was craving a shisha. A shisha and just that, because all of the so-called 'hookah bars' in Manhattan have loud music and drunk teenagers and are generally not what I'm looking for. This place pleasantly surprised. Thursday evening walk-in with no prior reservation and the place was almost deserted, although it picked up towards 9pm. We started off with my favourite shisha, grape-mint and it was very well prepared. We also decided to munch on something so we had the Middle Eastern Platter, which was babaganoush, taboula and hummus served with hot pita bread. The hummus was definitely not homemade BUT still very tasty somehow. The babaganoush was also excellent, probably homemade and since taboula contains tomatoes I didn't have any but my colleague gave it excellent reviews. I had a mint tea too, which was great but then again, it's hard to ruin a mint tea. We decided to go for another flavor shisha an hour in, which might have been a mistake. I asked our (lovely and courteous) hostess what her favourite flavor was and she recommended the chocolate-mint. I didn't like it but I have to stress that this was my fault, because I did ask her for her favourite. It was well prepared, I just don't like chocolate-flavored shisha. The ambiance was great, mood lighting, Egyptian music (strange in a Moroccan place?) and excellent decorating. Clean, overall, and not loud at all. Four stars for food, shisha, ambiance and friendliness of staff. Not five stars because of the inconvenient location and simply because it didn't have the makings of a five-star restaurant, which it didn't pretend to be. Would definitely go again.

We had never been to this place and tried the delivery for dinner tonight. For $16.62 we received a TINY portion of the mixed skewer platter. It was minuscule. There were 3 thin pieces of lamb, 3 tiny little shrimps and 3 decent sized chicken cubes. With a small side of rice, mixed veggies and warm pita bread. It turned out to be a very expensive meal $18 including tip (see photo). The chicken was very delicious. The rest tasted fine. We felt ripped off though.

got the livingsocial deal. all the food was just ok. The hummus and the pita bread was decent the chicken kebab that people raved about here was bland and has no taste the place was also very small and smokey inside too Don't think I would ever be back again

I've been to Kiosk several times since it's close to home, and I've good experiences each time. The apps are standard stuff like hummus, baba ghanoush, etc. I've had the lamb, which is pretty decent (not as good as Cafe Mogador in the EV, but good). Drinks are good too. The white sangria is lovely and refreshing. THe only thing is that this place doesn't have much ambiance. It's usually really empty so it's a little weird. They also have hookahs if you're into that.

I had a great dinner last evening at Kiosk. It was one of the windier winter evenings and cooking at home wasn't an option. I'm a newer fan of morrocan food and I have to say - the food was delicious! The lamb was delicious and falling off the bone tender. I plan to be a regular and it seems like a friendly place. I plan to be back!

My friends and I were visiting from DC over the weekend for the IMATS convention and were staying in the Bronx. I googled "hookah bars" close to the address prior to leaving DC and this place was first in the search. *GREAT FIND* The place was alittle hard to find because of how it's situated, but I just chuck that up to not being from NYC. We were greeted when we open the door by "Mo", he was a cutie! The place is small but very cozy, the decor is nice and you feel at home which was a bonus! The waitress "Lela" was VERY nice, so sweet and very helpful since this was our 1st time at a hookah spot. She explained how it works, recommended hookah flavors we ended up getting "Strawberry Margarita" flavor which def got us buzzed and drinks ie: the "Mango mash" was the bomb.com lol I had 2 of them but was feeling the 1st one..lol She warned me but it was "Divas weekend" so I didn't care..lol The other drinks ordered house sangria with diced fresh fruit very good and strawberry margarita very good. The drinks were made perfect the alcohol to mix ratio was perfect! Since we missed the "weekend happy hour" by 1hr the "owner I assume" gave us our 1st round as a happy hour special which we thought was very gracious of him to do so, he stated that he wanted us to feel comfortable and enjoy the experience. The food was so good, we ordered hummus(fresh made to order very good flavor), garlic shrimp with warm pita bread(plus a refill on the bread which was so soft) to share and I ordered the chef's special chicken tangine with saffron rice which was A+ for me the chicken was super tender falling off the bone, the sauce made with lemon and olives which was very flavorful. "Mo" who was very attentive and gave us a demo of how to smoke the hookah(we got pics to prove and did I mention he was a cuite!..lol) gave us another round of hookah on the house as well. When it was time to leave we were in no shape to drive, "Mo" was very gracious to hail us a cab to get home while we waited inside because it was cold and windy. I WILL def go back to this place when we are back in August. I would recommend it to the locals and anyone visiting! *GREAT FIND*

Good place to hang out on a Friday night though it was in Harlem. For appetizers, we started with the Middle Eastern platter which came with pita bread and the hummus, babaganoush and taboule. The hummus was one of the better ones that I've had! The babaganoush and the taboule were good, but nothing that stood out. For dinner, I had the lamb shanks with prunes and nuts. My jaw became sore eating this dish because the meat was so dry and chewy that my mandible had a workout. I wanted a tender piece of meat, but I got lamb jerky instead. So disappointed. I would have given this dish two stars, but my friend got the koft tajine that was 5-star worthy because it was very flavorful. We had dessert and it was just alright-tasted like a fudge cake with some sort of ice cream. Anywhoo, my friends smoked some hookah afterwards and they all seemed to love it. When the waiter was bringing the hookah to us, the table next to us was also excited because it reminded them of smoking up something else. We hung out there for a while just kicking back and lying on their soft pillowed booth. The staff was pretty attentive to filling up our waters and not hurrying us. The only bad thing was trying to find a cab to go back home at night. We ended up finding a black cab.

This was possibly the worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant. We started out with an appetizer that came with babaganoush and hummus. It took twenty minutes to bring this out to us and it was obviously from a can. We were shocked since we paid $8 for a spoonful of canned babaganoush and hummus. For the main course I had the merguez which came with couscous and vegetables. My girlfriend had the lamb shank that also came with couscous and vegetables. The couscous was obviously from a box and the vegetables were definitely frozen vegetables. Each entree cost around $20. The merguez tasted like the breakfast links you would get a diner. We complained about the food and they brought us free dessert that was so bad we couldn't eat it. It was this horrible cake that again was probably made from a box. Anyone who knows anything about middle eastern food will be extremely disappointed (actually if you eaten canned or boxed food too) and feel that they've been bamboozled by these folks. Our meal cost almost $50 and mainly came from boxed and canned goods. Don't waste your time and just skip this ripoff of a restaurant. For me it will always be my story of the worst meal I had.

The walls kinda felt like they where closing in on me. the AC was off and the weird curtains where just hanging right above my head. The hookah was good. $20 bucks with free charcoal refill. I went on a Sunday. Happy hour all day ($6 drinks). They have mojitos and this thing called kiosk punch or something. All i know is that it has tequila and a bunch of juice and it got me drunk and i only had 2 of them. But coupled with the smoke, i think the combination threw my right over the edge. Nice hang out for date cause it's really dark, so dark that i couldn't take pictures of my hot date.

Love this place. Haven't made it in, but everytime I order delivery, the guy who answers the phone makes me laugh (in that oh-so-good funny way) and the lamb penne is to die for. I have to say I order it once a week now that I've moved to the neighborhood. Go or call in an order. You won't regret.

First things first: the food here is excellent. Excellent. I came here with a party of four and we shared appetizers and entrees -- all were delicious. Our host (who I assume is the owner) was courteous, attentive, and made us feel welcome without hovering over us. I can't say enough how much we all enjoyed our meal. I had the leg of lamb with couscous and roasted vegetables. Yes. I'll keep it short: go here.

Just discovered this little gem after moving to the neighborhood a few months ago. They have some of the best baba ghanoush I've ever HAD! Lamb dishes are tasty as well - kabob and the merguez platter. Also have hung out here just for drinks and hookah. Hookah is fun and super affordable - but they were out of most beers when we went around midnight.

I found this place on one lazy summer afternoon with a friend of mine. After trying hookah on vacation , I decided to try in the city and actually get a meal. I love the layout of the place its small, quaint, and comfy. As soon as we walked in we were immediately seated and decided to try the hookah first. The hookah was good and the waitress was very attentive checking the coal. After finishing the hookah , we ordered our food. I ordered the wild berry cosmo and with the chicken tajine they were both delicious. All in all it was a good experience with the East Harlem gem.

I love the chicken kabob here with rice and pita bread and of course the sauce. The owner and staff are all friendly. I live on the same block and every time I come here it feels like family. They just recently renovated and expanded the place and it looks fabulous. Nice ambiance and the murals on the wall are awesome, I love it! To sum it up: Good Food, Good People & Good Atmosphere.

On the one hand, I like that The Kiosk is in my neighborhood and that the food is very reasonably priced. On the other, it's tough for me eating tagines after living close by Mombar and Kabab Cafe for a few years. Very few tagines I've had since come even close to the delightful ones at Mombar. And the pita bread is never as fresh anywhere else as that at Kabab Cafe. The mediterranean platter included a tapenade, a bean dip, and another that was more on the tomatoey side. If you like your tapenade with a very strong olive flavor, this might be for me. For me, it was a bit overstrong and too thin a spread; it lacked the thickness I associate with tapenades. The bean dip was mild. The tomato one seemed too thin as well, and I generally ignored this one. The waiter warned us that the lamb tagine is quite sweet. Certainly, honey's cloyingness was very present in this dish. If you like sweet savory dishes, this could work for you. For me, I would have preferred it a little more balanced with perhaps some red peppers or some olives. My friend, on the other hand, enjoyed it a good deal. Service is friendly and affable. To sum up: if you haven't spent four years being spoiled by Mombar and Kabab Cafe, this is decent food at very good prices.

This restaurant/lounge was a nice departure from the cuchifrito, fast food, Latino and African food mostly available in Spanish Harlem. I've been to The Kiosk on several occasions and I've always been satisfied with the service...the food is just very simple and nothing to get excited over. As an appetizer I had the Middle Eastern platter, which was good. The main course was a chicken kabob, which frankly wasn't anything exciting to write about :-( My dining partner had the Merguez platter, which are grilled lamb sausages with saffron rice glazed vegetables & harissa sauce. He wasn't very impressed with the flavor nor the presentation as the sausages looked rather blackened and reddish in color. The other dishes on their menu are tasty and flavorful though. The one thing that is worth mentioning is that the owner is mostly present at the restaurant; he's very welcoming and makes you feel like you are visiting his home...great customer service on his part! The restaurant is currently going through renovations that are going to make the place cozier. I am truly hoping that the menu will improve with the cosmetic renovations.
