The food is great and service is decent. The fried calamari was lightly battered and delicious. Empanadas were a little greasy but the churrasco and the mixed grill were very tasty!!! My bf and I have some leftovers that we are definitely looking forward to. Oh and the sangria was yummy!! Everyone is nice! Good atmosphere!

I've been here a couple of times on a date and had a great experience. Both times were Saturday nights so we were able to see the weekly Tango dance. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The place fills up quickly during these nights so a reservation is recommended. We lucked out the second time we went as we were told to sit at the bar while a table opened up and we didn't wait more than 15 minutes for it. The Mixed Grill is what we ordered both times and one order for two people is more than enough! We learned that the hard way. The server was great with his wine recommendation and was very attentive to our needs. I will definitely be going back to try something other than the Mixed Grill.

I was there for the first time to celebrate my friend's Judy 70th bday and it was an awesome place and the music and dancing was so much fun. Great service and so warm and great food. Highly recommended.

I have to join the other reviewers with one star. The food was not good. Even the rice was subpar.

Absolutely horrible food, service and overall experience. WORST MEAL OF THIS YEAR (probably many years) My wife and I took our kids and their significant others for an pre-holiday dinner. It was like the Grinch stole dinner. It took a half an hour to get someone to take our order. It then took more than a full hour for the food to come. At that point, we were just too starved to send the food back and try for something else. Maybe they count on this? Mind you, I've only sent food back twice in my life. So, for me to even think of it is a huge issue. 4 of us got steaks. Argentina is known for it's excellent beef industry. But this place..... They did give me a nice big knife (Crocodile Dundee would have approved) but yet I could not saw through this substance. I ordered medium-rare, BTW. But it was just an extremely poor cut of meat and LOADED with gristle. I ate the rice and beans in the hopes that it would provide sustenance and give me the strength to cut through the meat thing. But they even messed that up. The rice was hard and soggy as if they just dumped it out of the pot before it was cooked. The live music was an enjoyable style, but played so loud that it seemed to make everyone in the place uncomfortable. My son is 22 and likes to play his music loud. But even he had to step outside for a while to take a break. It was a long, miserable, expensive evening at the end of which, we were all still hungry! There was so little meat amongst the fat and gristle... When I showed it to the waitress she said "what do you want me to do about it? You ate from it already" Avoid this place like the plague

Dreadful service. Incredibly slow service and the waitress was giving attitude from start to finish. What kind of server takes orders from 8 feet away in a very loud room? The food is passable for the price. One of the steaks was barely edible. Busboy and the band were excellent. Believe the reviews trashing this place.

Groupon on a quiet weeknight. Good food, friendly, helpful and attractive waitresses. Perfection, no. A nice, tasty evening out in a casual atmosphere yes.

I came here since I had a Living Social deal. The restaurant look like a tacky catering hall but hey I was there to have steak not to decorate. They start by bringing you a complimentary bruschetta which was really tasty and a nice touch. Then they gave us some nice fresh bread. We ordered a baked chicken and a fried beef empanadas. The chicken one was really good however the beef one was blah. As my entrée I got the skirt steak with mash potatoes. The steak was made to perfection (I like it medium) and the potatoes were good. Since my deal came with a free dessert they gave us flan, it was good not the best. The service was okay a little slow but there was only one waitress for the whole place since it was a slow night. I will be coming back especially for their early bird dinner which is $16.50 for a three course meal.

The food was excellent!! Great environment. Very accommodating for families and couples. The mojitos were amazing. We came on a Saturday night with a reservation for 8. Learned some Tango and got to dance merengue with a friendly crowd. Would definitely come back

I love this place! If you are a fan of Latin culture and music, you will definitely enjoy this place! It is a steak house, so order steak! My favorite is a skirt stake, if you love your veggies, go with "house potatoes", which is potatoes sauteed with spinach and garlic. They have some amazing desserts, like flan and crepe with apples or bananas. All drinks are awesome and owners and stuff are warm and kind hearted people. Fun place to spend your Friday/Saturday night locally.

Beware!!! Turn around and go to McDonald's instead. You can tell a lot about a restaurant by the way they upkeep the place and how sanitary it is. Before you come in its filthy and dark. Once you come in, it looks like a cheesy catering hall turn restaurant but should be closed down. The glass cups used for beverages were dirty and had Xmas trees on them while the others were mismatched with the rest. The food was obviously frozen and microwaved while my mashpotatos were boxed. The prices were also high for fake cheap food. We actually saw the wine list which included bottles for $40 and up and saw the waiter leave to buy bottles at the liquor store that cost $8 and sell it for $40+ Please guys, skip this place. The food is horrid and this is a waste of your time and money. There's nothing Argentinian about this hellhole. I had to leave a star because it wouldn't let me post without one.

Came with my friend for drinks after work. The bartender barely understood when we asked her for drinks. She disappeared, we then saw her dancing with a waiter. While we sat at the bar there was a tray of mints that happen to be my fav! So 1 star for that!

Worst restaurant experience ever!!!! I am a very patient person but I don't believe waiting for your order for two, yes I said 2, hours is acceptable. We got to the place around 7:00 and at 8:00 were told 15 more minutes for our entrees. Then at 8:30 were told 10 more mins. And at 9:00 pm the waiter said another 30 minutes. That's when we did something we've NEVER done, we decided to leave. Apparently they had two big parties, so the kitchen was tending to them instead of the smaller tables of regular patrons. Unacceptable!!! And on top of this, instead of being apologetic, they overcharged us for the drinks we had while waiting two hours for our food that never came. Horrible and disrespectful!!! Never again.

This is probably the worst restaurant i have been to so far. This experience was a total rip off. The food was cold and the temp.of the restaurant was almost unbearably HOT. The food is overpriced and a tip that's included in the bill was over $25 but not worth $5. No one spoke english and the sangrea was served in a dirty beer pitcher. The wait for food was excessively long considering only two other persons were present. The strip steak was tough and the vegtables were salty. Do yourself a favor and don't go there.

  • Dee S.

Wowee, do I love the steak here!!! $18 for entrana, mashed potatoes, and a side salad! Woooo!!! Sometimes there's live music after 8:00, and they give you plenty of fresh bread, as well as a brschetta appetizer on toast on the house! The decor is ugly as sin, but the chef's a hell of a good cook! Flan is fab, you can skip the empanadas, but the steak is FABULOUS! Service is a bit slow (Argentine people time guys, let's face it). But the food is totally worth the time they take to woo you and cook your plate-filling steak. Come hungry!

Went to Tango at around 6pm on a holiday and was surprised to be the first ones there. Ordered a stuffed clams appetizer which was cooked with wine that was not properly reduced; each clam was like drinking a shot. Wife had the pork chops which were decent. I had the mixed grill which was very disappointing. The steak and short ribs were very fatty and the sausage lacked flavor (didn't know that was possible). The, what seemed to be, owner talked loudly on his cell phone during our entire meal and then sometime midway into the meal, tango music started playing extremely loudly. The prices aren't the cheapest - the meal plus a pitcher of sangria cost over $100 which I could have better spent elsewhere.

  • Rose L.

they have a great early bird that you must go for 4-6pm $20 all inclusive meal. you must ask them to bring you that menu - soup/salad, entree, dessert plus coffee/tea - can't beat that. it's great food - cooked right! ambiance is total gitch and they have a nonfunctioning ac so summer is sweltering there. and there's some funky wall to wall carpeting but the food is delicious. give it a shot.

You would think that an Argentinian restaurant would have a great steak - but nope, it sucked. It definitely did not taste good. The atmosphere is too dramatic and not romantic. On weekends it's EXTREMELY loud there, as there is terrible live music. Usually I enjoy a little music with my meals but even I found it annoying and deafening.

Its about time I finally wrote a review on this place. We came here because of the reviews of fellow yelpers, and we are glad we did! I came here specifically for the skirt steak, and it did not let me down. Perfectly marinated and grilled, served with that delicious green sauce, paired with some sangria on the side, and some delicious mojitos. The bread as noted before is amazing, warm, crusty outside and doughy inside. I cant remember what my girlfriend got because I was so involved with my own meal, but I believe it was chicken...I do know that she liked it as we have gone back several times. We have never been there when there is Salsa or Tango, but it is obvious by the disco balls and set up of the restaurant that they host live dancing...the whole floor in the middle is open and its all wood.

  • Jessi T.

Man doesn't live on bread alone. But the bread alone gives this place 5 stars. Holy wow... I mean.. it's crusty on the outside and soft and deliciously fresh on the inside. Another bonus is they serve it piping hot as if they just baked it especially for you. The service was excellent and so was the food... the skirt steak was tender, juicy, and cooked to a perfect "medium". The mussels were also fresh, light, tasty garlic sauce with no sand bags! I ALWAYS get sand bags in my mussels but this place was sand free! Not only did this place have good service and food but they had live music with salsa and tango shows. Inbetween the shows you can dance if you'd like. (Live music is only on weekends but they have Tango lessons on Mondays!) It is loud at this place but the energy and good food of this place makes it a very happy experience to eat at this restaurant. GO!

Lets start with the positive - atmosphere was nice, very cozy intimate setting. I liked the fact that they had live entertainment and guests were able to join in and dance to Tango. The hostess and owner were very friendly and nice and made us feel welcome. Now the negative - the food was not good. We had a groupon deal we used for 4 people which gave us $100 to use towards food and drinks. Our total bill came to about $200, which was shocking but after further investigation a $30 gratuity was automatically added to our bill. This place is a little pricey and the food was not up to par. Both parties had requested two different sampler platter. We requested for the food to be on separate grills, but the hostess assured us it was better to put all of the food one one grill. Not a good idea, since we all had separate entrees. I would never come back again. With the amount we paid the food was totally not worth it. The calamari was not good, and we requested beans and rice got brown beans instead of white (automatically comes with the meal). The staff is very nice and so is the entertainment, but for the amount I paid I would have rather spend that money at Mr. Chows. The only thing I really enjoyed was my glass of Sangria.

Had a groupon and since I have been here before over the years. I decided to try it again. Big mistake!! Place was dark and empty................only two people in the place besides the staff. Appetizer which was shrimps in garlic sauce was rubbery, chewy and the sauce was not garlicky but sour. I had the seafood paella..................was chewy and rubbery and had no taste. My friend had the mixed grill platter with a variety of meats and he said it was good. Food definitely not fresh and just reheated frozen food. Help them Chef Ramsay!!!! .

  • Leg E.

Disappointing!! The skirt steak was fatty and grizzly. We asked for well done and it was pink. The Shell steak was nothing special. Neither steak had any flavor. Just plain non-marinated steak. The paella shrimps were chewy and the calamari was so rubbery we couldn't even eat them. The portions are quite small for the price. and the prices are too high. The only thing they are generous with is the plain brown dry rice. The best thing about this place is the service. Would not go back.

  • Tim C.

Unfortunately they don't serve anything you can do at home with a microwave. Just ask if they can remove peppers on your steak and they can't do it, tells you everything must be predone. The brown rice tasted like it was microwaved and had no flavor, not even salt. The mashed potatoes were definitely boxed. Nothing was even plated well, just look at the food pictures. Sadly, not even worth it with a Groupon.

  • George L.

Well it wasn't made up to be what it is advertised. My gf and I used the groupon 49 dollars for 100 dollars worth of food seems like a great deal right? The waitress as polite and nice but she forgot our shrimp cocktail app and we ended up getting the app when we were almost done with the main course. We did have to ask for hot sauce multiple times but she finally came with it. Why is there not Tabasco sauce on every table? It was not busy at all and the owner was even there. The food was over cooked and dry and needless to say the best part was the 40 dollar bottle of wine. Also to mention the atmosphere needs updating it has Christmas colors and feels like a catering hall inside.

Food was ok not the greatest...places needs a renovation.. We went on a Friday so they had tango.. I felt like I had to pay to each them tango.. Service was slow at first but it did pick up after a while. Overall I would not recommend this place.

    (1)
  • Manuel S.

The venue was small and intimate. The food was good. The service was okay. The drinks were made pretty well, but could have been stronger. The tango dancers were great, but only came out to dance a few times; however, the performances that occurred throughout the night made up for it. The Tango dancers have a short lesson. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go again. I went with the Groupon and they do not accept it on Saturdays which I found outrageous. The Groupon does not cover taxes or gratuity. They also calculate the gratuity themselves which I did not like. I ended up paying $30 along with my Groupon.

Horrible horrible treatment by the owner Enrique . We had a birthday here of four tables and I had bought a groupon that in no where in the fine print states cannot be used on a Saturday, and the owner rudely said we don't take it Saturdays an just yelled at me and walked away. I cannot believe the customer service. And to think my family comes here so often. I think his treatment I the matter was just plain nasty

After seeing Buenos Aires on Groupon, my boyfriend, myself, and another couple decided to give the restaurant a shot on a Saturday night. We got there around 7pm and it was EMPTY. Maybe 1 or 2 other tables. Of course, we were promptly seated. Our waitress was sweet and made some recommendations. We ordered a pitcher of sangria which was decent and proceeded to order. We were initially served a fantastic bruschetta in addition to the traditional bread basket. I tried the calamari (which were very tender, but lacked breading), the mussels (the broth was too slimy), and the mussels (this was terrible, the seafood was inedible and the rice was mushy). As we finished our meal, more and more people started to trickle in. That's when the complimentary tango show started. There was singing and dancing. Lots of entertainment! We were obviously newbies and came at the wrong time, that's why it was so empty. You are supposed to come later on so you can enjoy your meal whilst others entertain you. Now we know. It was pretty pricey, even with the Groupon deal. The food was so so but the entertainment was so fun.

Went there on a Saturday night and that was a mistake. I don't mind the Tango dance show or the live singing. what I do have a problem with is you are trying to eat dinner and they want you invite everyone to the dance floor like you're at a wedding or a night club. Yeah, was not feeling that. the staff is friendly but not helpful. the food was ok. I asked for a medium skirt steak and it came out almost well done. The venue it self looks like it is still stuck in the 70's. Looks like my grandmothers living room. I would not be going back.

I went to this place with my boyfriend with a groupon and was very glad I did because the food is a little pricey. It was a Saturday night so we were able to enjoy watching tango dancers and great live music. The environment feels very welcoming almost like a family feel. I loved it. My boyfriend was not impressed with the food. I ordered their entraña with prosciutto which to me was very good but not amazing. I would definitely come back on another Saturday night. I loved it.

Bought a groupon. Thought it might be good to try an Argentinian steak house, but it was seriously lacking. First of all, service was incredibly slow!! Even though there were only 5 tables of people, it took 2.5hrs to complete a meal. The decor is lacking. The complimentary bread was heated on the outside & cold/stale on the inside. The appetizers were soggy, covered in thick sauce, and not so fresh. The steak was awful! Tough & unable to be cut despite ordering it medium rare. The seafood was hit or miss in freshness. Even the desert had a charred, overwhelmingly gas-torched taste. I'm very sad and mad I drove an hour to make it!

I was given a groupon for Buenos Aires Steakhouse from my mother-in-law and I decided to use it this past Saturday (1/18/14) with two of my girlfriends. We arrived at 7 and the place was practically empty but it took them several minutes to seat us. When we were seated they brought out a small appetizer of bruschetta and warm bread and I must say that was the best part of our visit. We placed our order with the waitress. I ordered Chicken Parm and my two friends ordered Chicken caesar salad and Chicken Parm. My friend who ordered the chicken parm wanted it dry (without tomato sauce due to an ulcer) and the waitress had to get another waitress since she didn't understand what my friend was asking for. We also ordered three sodas. Our meals were out before our drinks, when we asked about the drinks the waitress told us the machine was broken and they were attempting to fix it, so she refilled our waters and we started eating. My friend's chicken caesar salad was 19 dollars (meanwhile a regular caesar salad was 8 dollars) and when it was brought to us it was wilted lettuce that was turning brown with a dressing that was sour. We all tasted her salad and it was rancid. The chicken parm was disgusting. The edge or the chicken was fine but once your started to get to the middle it was mushy, the tomato sauce was the consistency of water and our sides of mashed potatoes were instant mashed potatoes not real potatoes. The final straw of our meal from hell was when they finally brought our sodas out. It was like they took glasses of water and poured coke syrup in them. We asked our waitress to speak to the manager. The owner of the joint walked over and very rudely asked what the problem was. We described our dining experience and the owner's response was "some people don't like our recipes, if you don't like our food you can leave. And please don't come back, we don't want your business". Please keep in mind throughout our dining experience we were polite, pleasant and never had an attitude with the waitstaff or the owner although we could have. I was completely blown away with how incredibly rude and unprofessional the owner was. I will never give this place a dime of my business again.

While the food may be tolerable, the service was abominable. For a waiter who has been there since the place opened, why didn't he know a salad was included-he had to check. Rice and beans never came; no checking back for second drink. Decor is still terrible. I know for sure why I never return on a regular basis.

Horrible, plain and simple. We had a large group come together and wanted to have a great evening of dancing and food. We had reservations set about 4 days in advance. When we arrived our table was not ready, it took them about an hour and a half to get us water, and 45 minutes after that our sangria's. At the third hour we finally received our appetizers and at that point we realized we had to leave because the food tasted like it was sitting out. Service was horrible, food was horrible, and I am not sure how they are still open.

This is probably the worst dining experience I have had in a very long time, 1st they refused to seat us where we requested on the side because every table was reserved according to them even though we had a reservation and even though the restaurant only had a few tables used. After that the waiter comes to our table and takes our order, I had looked at the menu online beforehand and found a dish I wanted to try but did not see that dish on the actual menu and was told that they don't make that dish on the weekends or something ridiculous like that; but to my surprise there was a gentleman 2 tables over eating the same exact dish I wished to order and when I asked the waiter he admitted that it was the same dish and that he had to ask the chef for permission. In the end "he did me the favor". Then we ordered our drinks and I guess they have no bartender so all the waiters make their own drinks , ps the Mojito my wife had was the worst we have ever tasted it was extremely sweet and had to be remade 3x. The food arrived and everything was really bland with little to no seasoning, I had a mixed grill platter with steak, chicken, shrimp and pork; the pork and chicken were extremely dry and overcooked while the shrimp was undercooked, the steak was actually cooked perfect but was not seasoned. Then the real fun began, I didn't know that they had some sort of tango/ live music show which I can't fault them for I guess I should have done my research a little more about the restaurant, but my wife and I hated it we couldn't have a conversation for the remainder of the night the music was so loud. As soon the performance started which was pretty soon after we got there we would only see our waiter every 20-25 minutes so the 60-90 minute dining experience that we wanted turned into a almost 3 hour ordeal. The owners are in the band as well so don't expect to get any help from them. Aside from the previous complaints when we walked in it was like a heat wave it was probably around 75-78 degrees inside with 100% humidity, we asked several waiters if they could raise the ac or a fan or something, everyone of them said no problem but did nothing about it. When I received my bill to my surprise they had added a 20% gratuity to my bill supposedly because I was using a groupon and that's the policy even though that is not written anywhere on their website/menu/groupon fine print, after some back and forth with a waiter he reluctantly removed it. then I was asked to pay cash if I could which I don't get but I didn't have cash so they were forced to take a cc and then I was told they don't take Amex so I had to use my backup visa. I would give this place 0 stars if I could and you may need to take a few Spanish classes before coming here because the entire staff has very limited English speaking skills.

Recently visited this place with a friend, hoping for some good food, music, and dance. We had originally planned to visit a different Argentinian restaurant in the East Village, but laziness kept us in Queens for the night, and this place seemed to have pretty good reviews. Though the decor is rather dated, we were encouraged by the friendly host, the live music and dancing, and the fact that the place was packed. A simple "amuse bouche" turned out to be pretty tasty. Food was decent, though a bit too salty for my taste. Admittedly, I'm not big on meat, so this was likely not an ideal pick. What ruined it for me was that service was very slow and unfriendly. The music was incredibly loud, as were the surrounding parties, and it was almost impossible to carry on a conversation. 2-3 stars for food, 1 star for ambiance.

We were there with a large party of 20 for a birthday dinner(all reserved ahead of time) and we ordered from a prearranged menu. My daughter ordered ravioli and everyone else was eating and her food still wasn't ready, so they brought her a piece of grilled chicken cutlet in the meantime. The skirt steak was delicious but the sides were very unimpressive. The rice they gave us tasted like Uncle Ben's, nothing worth paying for. All in all, it was 3 hours for dinner that was mediocre at best and horrible service. I did enjoy their sangria though. We enjoyed the live music, and the tango dancing. But as far as the food, we were not impressed at all. Very glad that we didn't pay for dinner or I would have given it 1 star. Definitely won't be going there ever again.

Beware, the food is not very good and the manager (Enrique) is an arrogant pig who can be very disrespectful. My wife and I tried this place for the first time, ordered appetizers, a bottle of wine, and entrees. Her steak came out overdone and dry. She asked the waitress if she could do something about it, the waitress brought over Enrique, who replied in a hostel manner, " You are not regulars here, we can't just lose money like that, you can wrap it to go if you like". I could not believe his attitude, he actually walked away like we were bothering him. Save yourself the bother this place is not worth it, there are much better places to go.

Where do I start?Walking in was already a huge disappointment as no one greets you and asked you if they can be of any help.Very poor decor ,by all means this is 2013 who in their right mind still use wall to wall carpeting, inside the restaurant is very dark but nevertheless they have a few uncleaned chandeliers that could have been used for more lighting. There were 2 waitresses there that in my mind had no idea what they were doing,my cousins and I were seated at a table for 20 minutes and no one paid attention to us,we had to get their attention,we had to let them know that we were ready to order.I guess our mistake was that we all ordered seafood ,the food was tasteless, the salmon was very dry and the mash potatoe was simply horrible.I just cannot believe how long it took for us to get our soft drinks,15 ,20 minutes, this is totally unacceptable. What made it worse is that I had a Groupon which was given to one of the waitresses, she took the info and wrote everything down on a piece of paper,to my surprise after we all left and were getting in our car we had this same waitress running after us like a Lunatic looking for a voucher number from Groupon,I mean really to top it all they do not speak english which makes it even more difficult .What an experience".This is one place I will never go back to .

If I could give them 1/2 or 0 stars, I would. I am starting to write this review as I sit here at the table. I have the time. We arrived at 8 pm, a group of 11, celebrating an engagement. It took half an hour to get water. It took about 45 mins to get drinks and the waiter forgot a few of them. And wasn't very nice about it either. Then at the hour mark, we finally got bread. After sitting for an hour and a half we finally got our appetizer but only after complaining. And since we ordered from the prefixed menu our appetizer was antipasto. Really? It doesn't even need to be cooked!!!! (Literally the platter was 3 pieces of ham, 3 pieces salami, 3 pieces if provolone, some olives, raw mushrooms, canned artichoke and sundried tomatoes, not impressive at all) Not only that but at the hour and 45 minute mark we have finally ordered our entrees. But again, only after complaining a bunch of times. And getting a bit of an attitude from the waiter. (They only take your entree order after you're done with your appetizer apparently. I have never heard of a place doing this). Our friend (who organized this little celebration) just went to find a manager to complain, we found out another table has been here for THREE hours and hasn't gotten their entrees, our patience ran out. The table behind us just got up and left. I am finishing this now a few days later---A Couple of minutes later we did the same as the table behind us, we left. (I have NEVER left a restaurant before in my life). We left more than enough to cover for the drinks and crappy antipasto we received. As we were leaving they were trying to bring more drinks and bread to the table, I guess to appease that fact that we were all mad. I love Argentinian food as my boyfriend is from Argentina and I have become accustomed to their food. When my friend had suggested going here after seeing it on Groupon, I was a bit skeptical. My boyfriend and his family had never heard of the place before. And when places offer half off expensive meals, I tend to wonder why. Well my suspicions were right. This place needs to get their game together. I have never been to a restaurant where service is this bad and I have never walked out of a restaurant before.

Never had Argentinian food before, this was a first. We had gone with a large party. Portions were very large and very tasty. I believe usually they perform a pretty nice show for you during your meal. We had gone a little earlier and they weren't really ready for action, but i'm sure its really cool. The wait staff have a hard time understanding english (luckily i speak spanish). Usually, this would deter from a restaurant experience. However, i think it added to the authenticity. It was not like you had to repeat yourself 14 times and your food was wrong.. You could just tell english was their second language. If it wasn't so far I would try again for sure. Might go again to experience more of the show aspect later in the day.

I went to Tango for an early dinner on a Saturday. The place clearly is a busier night time spot, because it was empty when I went. The food was phenomenal and the service was friendly and prompt. I definitely wanna go back.

While searching for different places to dine in Forest Hills, we entered Buenos Aires Tango last night and were transported to a world of passion, romance and $16 churrasco steak ! (yes!) When entering, I thought I had stumbled into a wedding reception of sorts as there were several large parties assembled. Birthday celebrations proved to be quite popular here. While the menu does not feature red velvet cake, the walls do and the white tablecloths, high-back chairs, chandeliers and disco ball speak 1979, there's something intriguing and almost comforting about such a place. This is your father and grandfather's argentine restaurant and on Friday and Saturday nights, not only can you eat here but you can dance too! We were treated to quite the show and the crowd was entirely into it. Tango classics brought tears to some diners eyes, a rendition of "Volare" had the crowd shimmying in their seats and an acoustic guitar version of "Something" by the Beatles was perfect background music. And if you didn't know how to tango, you were invited to learn! Alas, I was distracted by a 14 oz steak but otherwise I'd have given the forbidden dance a try. The menu is meat-heavy as this is an Argentine establishment after all. You'll find steak, steak and more steak but also chops, chicken and pastas. Fish for the ultra health conscious and a respectable wine list/cocktail menu for the drunk. Service was quite friendly as apparently all the waiters double as drink mixers too. We received a plate of bruschetta and then a basket of bread. The bread was warm and gobbled up in seconds as it tasted surprisingly good. Dinner specials included a $29 surf and turf-- steak and lobster tail. Other highlights are an early bird special from 4-6 during weekdays for 16.50. My churrasco came with rice+beans, a small salad and the by all means necessary chimmichurri sauce. Spoonfuls of green goodness that must be spread a top any meat for maximum flavor. And my steak was good, a decent size sirloin for the price, cooked as I wanted and almost too large to finish. The rice+beans were standard faire, with plump pinto beans and non-sticky rice. The salad was really a small corner of the plate with lettuce and onion but let's face it, I was there for beef, not leafy greens. Throughout the dining experience, various acts performed, from the acoustic guitar to a live singer to a demonstration of classical Argentine dance, complete with costumes and handkerchiefs. It's always a good sign when people know the lyrics and totally follow everything as that speaks of a certain authenticity that can't be bought. And this also means that they are coming for food that meets their standards and that's good enough for me. Dessert was a flambeed crepe filled with bananas that had the other table asking what exactly I had ordered. Once the flames subsided, I enjoyed every bit of the sweet liquor infused crepe. For a full multimedia experience of song, dance and dinner, come to Buenos Aires Tango. And who knows, next time you may see someone with two left feet trying to learn how to dance!

The service was good but the food was extremely mediocre. My wife and I were looking to try someplace new and decided on Tango for dinner. The meat was poor quality and everything tasted like you were eating at someones grandmother's house who had lost her touch in the kitchen. The food just really wasn't worth a fraction of what they charge. I would give this place one star but the live music earned it another star. Bottom line- save your money, save your time, spare your taste buds the embarrassment.

Empty. Absolutely empty. We went at 6 pm on a Sunday night and there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant; it stayed empty even as we left a little after 7 pm. I guess that singing and dancing starts later in the evening, so if you're planning on going definitely ask what times things start unless you like eating alone. That said the meal wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The decor in this place is dated, and the whole place feels a bit run down. Service was friendly; one waitress has a strong Spanish accent and only so-so English but it was good enough to place our orders. My wife got the mixed grill which she enjoyed quite a bit. I got the sirloin, which was mediocre (and came with a side of really bland mashed potatoes); I'd strongly recommend the skirt steak (which I tried, it was part of the mixed grill) as a better choice. Overall it wasn't a bad meal, but I'd definitely had better. Three stars is a bit generous, but I figure if you go when there's dancing it might be more enjoyable. The main problem here is competition; there are much better (cheaper and tastier) Argentine Grill places in Elmhurst; I'd prefer any of the places there to here.

Very high quality steaks. Decor was very fancy. Drinks were good and strong. Very interesting dance lessons as part of the weekend event.

I would never come here again. First they didn't accept my restaurant.com voucher. They were very rude and unprofessional! The owner comes over and gives me an attitude while speaking another language to the staff instead of talking to the customer about an issue. The drinks were horrible!!! A bloody mary was made for me with bad vodka and lemon juice. That was it. A tanqueray and tonic was even worse. It was pure tonic water. No gin at all. I could tell the owner was a cheap bastard with every aspect of this place too. You don't wanna accept my voucher then restaurant.com will hear about it and you will lose your right to be with them again. This place just screwed themselves big time. I can't wait until they are out of business. I usually don't down grade a place too much but this place and the owner deserve it. Trust me and do not waste your time or money here. Oh! And on Friday night there was 1 other couple there. That should tell you how crappy this place is! There is more but I'm getting aggravated just saying this so far. I am looking forward to talking to restaurant.com tomorrow especially that it says there are no restrictions on any days to use it.

My experience was fabulous. Was reminded of dining in a cruise. Great latin music, live music, professional tango dancers and a tango class along with a great Gaucho steak, juicy, broiled perfectly, and great side dishes as well. The only complaint I have was the stuffed shells for the appetizer - too much bread crumbs in some, not enough meat.

went there tonight (Monday) with my girlfriend and yes, as others stated, the decor of the place is a bit outdated, but the food was unbelievable. Our drinks, salads, entrees and dessert arrived in a timely fashion and we were not rushed thru our dinner like some other restaurants. My girlfriend's filet mignon wrapped with bacon was cooked to perfection, and the skirt steak was cooked just as I ordered it to be cooked. Waitress was friendly and asked us to come back on the weekend for some tango dancing. I laughed and said, I am more of a horizontal mambo person myself. She didn't get it. Price for the 2 of us was average, as average as any other steak restaurant and we can't wait to go back there with a few of our friends that we know will enjoy it as much as we did.

I have been to Argentina many times as well as the better, more established Argentine restaurants in Jackson Heights and this restaurant had the worst service of any restaurant I've been to either in the US or Argentina. After reading reviews on yelp, I was a little skeptical but was willing to give it a try since a couple we were going with had never tried Argentine food and really wanted to check out their tango show. If you are thinking of getting a groupon here, think again!!! There is a reason they constantly offer $50 groupons. There are better places in Jackson Heights. My favorite is La Fusta. We were given a table and had to flag down a waiter to take our order. The waiter we flagged down thought that the other waiter was going to take our table. Our drinks took at least 20 minutes to arrive. The beef empanadas were good. The menu only had 2 pasta options, which for a traditional Argentine restaurant is poor. I ordered the sirloin steak which was average at best. We've been having a heat wave in New York and their air conditioner and ventilation system was not working. You could see smoke from the kitchen filling the restaurant. They did have a fan on that didn't do much to cool the place so prepare to sweat. On top of that, they only refilled our water twice during the 3 hours we were there. The tango show started but the tango dancers only danced 2 or 3 times for a total of 10 minutes. The rest of the time, they played music from other Latin American countries such as Colombia as well as Salsa and Merengue. Nothing wrong with that but it's misleading for them to advertise a TANGO show when more merengue and salsa was played instead of Argentine tango. After we were finished with dinner, it took over half an hour to order and receive our dessert. Getting our check took another half an hour. To make matters worse, they added a mandatory 20% tip. They were lucky to get 10%. I felt bad stiffing the wait staff on a tip despite providing very poor service, for which management (or lack thereof) is to blame. Who knows how long I would have had to wait had I paid with a credit card.

wow, bad bad bad!!! Food was not only over cooked (all five of our entrees) but it was bland and burnt tasting. Server was attentive but sat in back of restaurant and played on his phone while we waited 40 minutes for our dinner. Five enfrees and two glasses of really bad wine, $200. Beware, spend your money elsewhere.

Second time back! and Tango you don't even deserve 1 star but Yelp is a kind kind site, and won't let me give you nothing! Food: Steak overcooked and fatty - HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT compared to the 1st time there Service: HORRIBLE Exclusion from Dancing cuz of Race - Who knew this still happens.... We were the only Asian Couple there, and When Tango time came about every table was asked if they wanted lessons or to dance, but our table (TWICE), even when asking the hostess why we were skipped, I was met with a blank stare. I will never come here ever ever ever again!

I came here with both my roommates when we first moved in, and it was just a strange experience. I had salad but my roommates had steak and ribs and everything was ridiculously fatty. It had good flavor, and I like fat, but not like that. I did notice a few strange things though, first the walls are made out of carpet. Like thick dark carpet which I feel like if it were a lighter color you could probably see all the nastiness that's on that carpet. Also, they had tango lessons that night, which was great and all, but kind of loud and somewhat strange- however the name of the restaurant is tango so I can't hate on it. The highlight of the meal was the chimichurri sauce and the bruschetta type thing they give you in the beginning of the meal. Unbelievable.

The service was excellent. The Churrasco steak was great. The Banana filled crepe with orange liquor was delicious but it's very sweet so if you need to watch your sugar intake, you need to tell them to put less sugar.

We used an Amazon Local deal for this meal. Frankly, I was surprised by the mediocre reviews. Service was a bit slow - but it made for a relaxing meal (which is nice given how many places try to turnover the tables quickly). Also, the food was worth the wait. We were a party of three, and for appetizers we ordered tomato and mozzarella, fried calamari, and a shrimp cocktail that was huge and very fresh! The calamari was also very good (as was the sauce). I didn't try the tomato and mozz. because it was quickly eaten (lol), and there were no complaints. Appetizers are big - two might suffice for three. For entrees we ordered grilled chicken and a mixed grill for two. The mixed grill was so big, that three could easily have shared it! The steak was excellent, as were the short ribs (?), and so was the grilled chicken. The sides were good - fries for the grilled chicken; though the side of brown rice and beans (for the mixed grill) was sort of small given the amount of meat that you got. However, the mixed grill also came with a very large side salad (lettuce and tomato with oil and vinegar dressing) which was good - no brown lettuce of which a prior guest complained. We tried Pampas on Metropolitan a few weeks ago. Though Pampas is a much prettier restaurant, its food can't compare to Tango! Overall, we enjoyed this place, and would return without reservation. Just a note, the decor is a bit dated, but it didn't disturb us.

Where's the beef? It's at Tango. Classic Argentenian style steak in many sizes, shapes, and forms. Seafood dishes also look really appetizing, though I have only admired from afar. Sangria is good. Flan is even better. Music and dance are incredible. They even offer tango lessons twice a week during evening hours.

I;m not a meat eater but my husband is (wait that sounds strange) anyway this is a nice place. Not great ambiance, but they did have a classical guitarist there which was a very nice touch.

I'm usually not one to criticize harshly, but this was quite possibly the worst meal I've ever had. 1) Food * Cream of potato soup with bacon -- It was like eating nothing. It was liquidy like broth and was devoid of any and all spices, never mind any hint of either potato or bacon... * Skirt Steak -- It was actually rubbery. I could neither cut it with my steak knife nor chew it with my teeth. When it finally made its way into my mouth, I noticed that the steak was covered in nothing but oil. No salt, no pepper, nothing that would actually lend flavor. No matter how hungry I was, I couldn't get through more than 3 bites. * Mashed Potatoes -- One word: fake (like from a box, not from real potatoes). OK maybe two words: gooey (I couldn't pick them up with my fork they were so liquidy) 2) Service * We ordered the cream of potato soup as one of the appetizers. The waitress forgot to bring it. When she brought out the mail course and we reminded her, she seemed shocked that we still wanted it. * After we had completed our meal, it took us a good 10 min to get the check. The restaurant was empty so it's not like the waitress was busy. She was just sitting at the bar chatting. After all this, my boyfriend didn't want to be rude and insisted that we take everything as a doggy bag. We promptly threw it all out at the first available trash barrel. $69 down the drain.

I'm all about the gauchos and how they operate so Argentinian skirt steak and a variety of meats are right up my alley. I had the mixed grill which allowed me to sample a variety of beef and it was great! They even brought it out on a mini grill so it was smoking and sizzling throughout the entire time, though I can see how that might ruin a romantic evening or serious conversation. They also broke out into song and dance later on in the night so go if you love music because the noise will carry.

I went here for my grandmother's reunion. There was nothing outstanding about the food, but I forgot about the restaurant figuring I would never be in the area to try it again. However, the experience has come back to haunt me. I received a letter in the mail stating that I had an outstanding parking ticket. I wondered how I could have possibly received a ticket I didn't know about or even remember getting. When I looked at the date and location, I remembered taking my grandmother to her reunion on that date and having the car VALLET parked. I never parked on that street myself so it is the only possibility. The vallet had parked my car at a meter (that apparently was expired), received a ticket and then didn't even bother to tell us about it. While I have nothing much to say about the food, I will say beware if you use their vallet service or you may end up paying $45.

Before I start this review let me say that Neither of us have ever written one before, and that we signed up for yelp.com just to review this place... The only reason we even went was because of the great reviews online. When we passed by we noticed that it was completely empty and were initially hesitant go in... But because of these reviews we took a chance (that was our mistake). When we first walked in we tried to overlook the very outdated decor (think Al Pacino in Scarface....Mirrors, Red carpeted walls, white chair covers, etc.) This supposed out of this world bread was no different than the bread you would get at any local diner. Again, we took a chance and continued to order. First drinks, Sangria and a Margarita. The Sangria tasted like fruit punch with pieces of fruit, and my Margarita was Ok at best...Then we were recommended the "special appetizer" Stuffed Avocado. Which was essentially Guacomole with A whole shrimp placed on top. I ordered the skirt steak and my girlfriend got the shrimp skewer.... Well, her rice tasted like Uncle Ben's and her shrimp was tough and chewy. My Skirt Steak was bland and tasteless, Thank God For Salt!. The green sauce was just a greasy mess that again had no flavor. The potatoes had no flavor either...And to top it off it was advertised that we were getting "Same Quality as before with discounted prices" What were the prices before? Each Entree cost about $25 dollars each.... The waiter was average so I can't even say something positive about that. Coincedently, I saw a friend that night who said he was there years ago and thought it was horrible. So when was this place ever deserving of these 5 star reviews???All I can say is if you want greasy dishes, with subpar drinks, a 1980's decor, and a over priced meal this is the place to go. But don't take my word, check it out yourself.!!!

Fun! Took some friends that are FROM ARGENTINA and they liked this place! Food was good, very friendly service and we were entertained with tango lessons. Went on a weeknight so it was very quiet but I would definitely go back again.

Went here last night with a date. I was starvinnnng ! and in the mode for steak. The ambiance of the place is really nice. Theres sort of a disco ball and club-like lights and a center dance floor where people dance tango, waltz. salsa etc. I would say its a nice place to come for a fun night with a date or with a bunch of couples and just enjoy. Now for Dinner We started out with a pitcher of Sangria, this was by far one of the best Sangrias we've had, me and my friend agreed. We ordered two empanadas for appetizer , one chicken and one beef. They arrived with the famous hot bread (which is just like the rest of the posts say, delicious crusty outside doughy inside). The empanadas were well seasoned the beef had green olives in it and spiced perfectly, the chicken missing a little kick but with some chimichurri sauce that was fixed. my girl friend for dinner had the lemon chicken breast and i had the skirt steak. the lemon chicken steak was alright, a little on the dry side and shy of salt. The skirt steak was .... ok .... hence the 3 stars . Portion was perfect, however it tasted like it wasnt seasoned at all so i poured a lot of chimichurri sauce on it. the side i ordered with my steak was potatoes provencal. which also had a mountain of parsley tossed with potatoes but no salt or garlic in them (as the waitress told us their was) all in all its a nice place for the atmosphere but i wouldnt go out of my way to come back here.
