Perfection. The pastries are perfect - plain croissant was as flaky as it should be, simple and buttery. The egg and bacon croissant was also stellar. I'm not sure why some of the other reviewers had a bad experience but I can say this was perfect for our Sunday morning. Fresh squeezed orange juice and a croissant. Can't beat that. Wifi, accepts credit card and serves alcohol. It's my new neighborhood favorite.

The croissants here are PERFECT. Came by when they were closing up and was able to get a few. Even though it was closing it still tasted like it came out from the oven. Probably the best croissant I've had in the city.

  • Gregory G.

Great concept. The "stuffed"croissant are outstanding! I had the egg and bacon and I definitely enjoyed it. The coffee is extremely good and the yogurt parfait is the best one I had in town.

    (5)
  • MichLee A.

If you are going to have "croissant" in your name, you better make the best croissant on this side of town. Sadly, Croissanteria does not live up to this expectation. The plain croissant, which is the only thing I bought, was too dry and lacked the texture that butter adds to proper croissants.

Things I love about Croissanteria: -Nutella & Banana Croissant (melt in your mouth goodness) -Prosciutto di Parma (basil/tomato/evoo make this an incredibly fresh combo) -Smoked Turkey sandwich on a baguette (fig jam - yes please) -The decor: complete with live trees and plants -Free ice water with lemon -Friendly staff Things I will learn to love about Croissanteria: -Cash Only (for now) -A little pricey -Crowded so you might have to wait for a seat

Really good breakfast/lunch. I had ordered lunch through seamless and after the estimated wait time came and went I called the bakery. The girl on the phone politely explained that there was an issue with the seamless and my food was on it's way. It arrived 5 minutes later with a written note attached to a bag of goodies apologizing for the delay. Sandwich was perfect. I will definitely be ordering again.

Great spot. Addicted to the yogurt parfait with berries, croissants are also unreal. Friendly staff, especially the croissant/food prep master who I see basically every day. Awesome addition to the neighborhood. Definitely worth a try if you are someone who does meetings/work/ or need a morning coffee.

A tasty croissant no doubt, the cheese in the ham & cheese just needed some more heat.

Delicious croissants and coffee. Sometimes that's all you want, and this is the place to go.

Cash Only, Free wifi For laptops, and Flaky, tasty treats. A touch too pricey.

  • Steve L.

Passed through here on a quiet Thursday morning recently and was pleasantly greeted by the staff. It seemed a bit pricey in general for what you're getting but the place seems to be some sort of pet project by some well-known food guy (you'll see his name on the right as you walk in, it escapes me now) so I guess that might explain part of it. Anyway, I got the three mini-croissant deal for $6, which included a sizeable cup of coffee. Mango, lemon and strawberry were all really great. Would visit again.

Delicious croissants and cute place to come with a friend or by yourself. The food is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for. Fresh and made in house. Try the prosciutto sandwich!

Delicious buttery flaky soft croissant..baked fresh daily. I paired it with an ice coffee...and Mmm was it good. A great way to start off the day. Also a nice place to just hang at and do your readings..seating is comfortable and not crowded. So don't need to worry about not finding a seat.

I'm from France and can easily say that it's one of the best croissant sandwich I had in New-York. Delicieux!

  • Inness P.

Visited NYC for the first time, and I was wandering around on foot by myself, which is my favorite thing to do in a new place. I almost walked by Croissanteria but it had the word CROISSANT in its name, so I thought I'd give it a try. I got the apricot croissant and AAAAHHHH it was so good! The apricot was fresh-ish (?) and gooey and great, and there was some kind of custard filling in the middle. A very good thing for eating on the go.

  • Jennie M.

Absolutely loved this place. Coffee is great, staff were super friendly! I'm always on the lookout for a good baguette after living in Paris for a while and their baguette is by far the best and most authentic I've had since returning to states. Definitely going to come back and come back often!

  • Tasty G.

Probably my favorite cafe in the east village. Great ambience. Comfortable and AVAILABLE! seating most hours of the day with mellow music playing that allows you to focus and get work done. Super friendly staff who make one of the better espresso drinks in the city. Not to mention, they have actually excellent, freshly baked croissants...which best of all can be ordered in mini sizes so you don't have to develop type II diabetes but get to try a nice variety. Nothing bad to say about this place.

  • Alissar T.

I am not one to write bad yelp reviews, and I will preface this by saying this is my first....... I walked in here on a Sunday morning in search of a quick morning coffee to go. The smell of croissants was incredible (I will give this place that). I ordered a small Iced Dirty Chai Latte on a 75 degree day (for $6.53). First of all, is that a joke? $7 for a small latte?? But fine...I smiled and paid, and figured for $7 it would be delicious! I also had no cash on me, and felt horrible not tipping, so scrounged up all the quarters I had to tip them $2. I get my drink after 5 minutes, and it's a Hot Dirty Chai. Not what I ordered. I debated saying anything at all, but after $9, I wanted the drink that I ordered. I nicely told the barista that I had ordered a Iced drink, and he proceeds to think.... grab a cup of ice, and condescendingly say, "Here, I'll put it on ice for you". *Proceeds to dump my drink over 4 small ice cubes* Um....... First of all, that's NOT a thing. What I received $9 later was a luke warm, watered down, still hot, but slightly cool Dirty Chai mess of a drink. My drink should have been remade, not poured over 4 cubes of ice with a condescending tone and smirk. I will never return to Croissanteria though the smell of croissants would have had me back the next weekend had my experience been a good one.....

  • Yad L.

I like how there are mini sizes for pastries. So, if you're indecisive like me, you can sample half of the menu. I wish they'd offer to warm up the pastries before stuffing it into a paper bag and handing it over to you. They didn't offer to me. I barely found a seat to enjoy my treats because this place is really popular for daytime-weekday goers. Seems like this neighborhood is in desperate need of free WIFI cafes where people can "work". Looks like they're trying to discourage this with the little "No laptops until 3PM" signs but no one seems to reinforce it. Most people there are comfortably wired in.

  • Laura M.

I don't think Croissanteria is a bad coffee shop at all. The soy latte was tasty. It just wasn't anything special. As for the atmosphere, I kind of feel the same way. Maybe i'm just jaded by the amount of coffee shops in the East Village, with their cold brew coffees, small pastries, and studying hipsters, but I kind of feel like - seen one EV coffee joint, seen em all. This one just didn't leave a memorable impression.

    (3)
  • Tara L.

Two visits to Croissanteria and I want to go every weekend morning for croissants and a latte. They do a combination of three mini croissants with a coffee for a discount...perfect. The only thing that makes it better is Eric getting a spinach ricotta savory croissant and us sharing.

  • John R.

I love this place so much and stop in at least once every time I'm in NYC. All of the croissants are amazing. While other places may do one thing very well, Croissanteria's entire selection is superb! My favorites are the almond, almond-chocolate, and savory mini-melt. Fresh squeezed OJ and good coffee, too. And it's just a nice, laid-back hangout with wifi. The Avenue A location is slightly off the beaten path, but that means you find a fantastic NYC bakery without a line out the door. Never change, Croissanteria!

    (5)
  • Allie C.

was searching for "best breakfast" on yelp and came across this spot. how did i never see it? its in the cut on avenue A with no big sign. we ordered a coffee, cappuccino, a regular croissant, chocolate croissant, and a chocolate almond croissant. came up to about $17 give or take. i think the cappuccino here is better than most other coffee spots in the city. and i'm pretty picky with my caps. nice ambience. the whole row of tables was filled up with people and their laptops so we sat by the window. more sleek than cozy kinda cafe. chill spot but they could add a little more seating.

    (4)
  • Melissa L.

Was excited for the place. Have had plain and chocolate and haven't been impressed with either. Plus if your whole shtick is croissants you should know they are only good when fresh and make them all day so they are fresh and warm, not cold and stale at 2 pm. Agreed the guy behind the counter was exceptionally rude. If you are going to shill expensive pastries in a poor, diverse neighborhood, you're going to need to get over yourself..

  • Elle G.

What I liked: Good cup of coffee (yay, Brooklyn Roasting Company!). A little expensive, but that's most NYC places for ya. This may have been slightly more than the average cup though. Nice, friendly counter guy. He answered a question I had and didn't act too hipster-y. (Can you "act" hipster-y? I think you can.) Cute little storefront. I'm sure it depends what time you go, but I was able to snag a table. Oh, and they have a decent bathroom...yay. I didn't eat there today. Will update again when I do.

Stumbled on this place looking for a nice place to do some work, and loved the jazzy music and vibe. Nice, comfy bench and 6 small tables, perfect for a coffee and a read. Prices quite reasonable, too. Will definitely be back--hope it doesn't get too crowded like the Bean.

  • Christopher L.

This place gets super busy on weekends. Love the coffee and croissants. Try the prosciutto sandwich.

  • Anita S.

Take a hint, the first person to review was from France. Just opened a few weeks ago and the French pastries are legit! Place is new but that doesn't stop it from being packed on weekends. Check it out before everybody else hears about it. Seriously, why is it so hard to find French pastries in E Village? No, I'm not talking day old croissants shipped in from New Jersey. I'm talking fresh. Really good espresso as well. Cool decor with lots of tables but no surprise it gets busy on the weekends. Pastries are baked fresh but they fly off the shelves.

  • Rebecca B.

Love everything about this place. Fresh-out-of-the-oven and cooked on-site croissants and other goodies are fantastic, coffee and tea is great, and staff are very friendly and remember you. Atmosphere is bright and nice for working. One of the greatest additions to the East Village in the 6 years I have lived here!

    (5)
  • Liza A.

If you want a hot, buttery croissant come here. The smell alone will lure you in. They bake the croissants on premise, so the heavenly smell permeates the spot. The spot also has baguettes, muffins and other options, but you come here for the bliss of layered pastries. You pay a little more here for the food, but it's more about quality than quantity.

  • Alexandra H.

The chocolate croissant was god but the raisin was crunchy and unsatisfying. Disappointing.

    (3)
  • Diana T.

What a rip off! 5.50 for a Nutella and banana croissant even though they had NO BANANA. Hmmm. Then the sandwich with egg chicken and bacon had RAW bacon. Gross. We were already in the park so I did not take it back. Plus the server was totally not caring about the banana situation. Never going back.

  • Joey B.

The chocolate croissant is awesome. Fresh and deicious sandwiches. The coffee is good, and they offer soy and almond milk. Nice employees. Simple and casual. I feel that the sandwiches are overpriced, even more than the overpriced Union Market nearby, and that keeps me from grabbing lunch there more often. I spend over $10 on a sandwich that doesn't even have too much on it. They are delicious but just a couple bucks too heavy.

Great, flaky croissants really are the star of the show. Casual old school coffee house with great music.

Sweet, beautifully decorated, homey cafe. Only had a cappucino but it was terrific. The owner is very nice and welcoming. I wish this place was in my neighborhood, on the UWS.

This is a really cute, cozy place in the east village that serves great coffee, delicious croissants and really fresh OJ. All of the croissants are yummy from the chocolate to the almond to just plain. They are flaky and fresh and you can't go wrong with any of them. If you are in the area and want some good coffee, a great croissant or both, go here!

    (5)
  • Alexander S.

Coffee is good (but not great - I'm spoiled, as I used to live above the LES Cafe Grumpy), while the pastries are absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD. Cute tables, incredibly friendly staff. Super busy on Sunday mornings.

  • Nick P.

This place is amazing!!! Fresh pastries (the best croissant you'll ever have), great cappuccino (props to the barista), and a delightful prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich on a baguette. Only top notch ingredients. I feel like I'm back at a european cafe!! Oh, and the chai tea latte is a must!! Any foodie would be delighted. Wonderful service and very friendly staff. I will definitely be back. Stop by if your in the neighborhood!

I'm a little torn. I liked what I got, but the price was just...let's just say I could've had a nice sit down brunch and pigged out at Maharlika for the same price. They have a good selection of croissant sandwiches with prices starting around $9. I got their lox croissant for $14. :O Aside from being fresh, I cannot for the life of me understand why this sandwich would be so expensive. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but for that price, the size of the sandwich is a bit small. A friend got some mini chocolate croissants and was so disappointed that there was no chocolate in it at all. Overall, a solid addition to Ave. A, but I'm not over the moon for it.

  • Bronwyn J.

YES. not only are the croissants LEGIT, but they make a DELICIOUS sandwich with a complex combination of fantastic ingredients with them. WELL. DONE.

  • Aaron H.

The D bag that used to work there that made give it a bad review is gone, so I'll admit it's a good place. It's a little pricey, but the food does taste exceptionally good. Only really bad thing, CASH ONLY. If you're going to charge that much for croissants, you should at least accept credit cards.

Most wonderful coffee ever. And the freshly made baked good are some of the best around.

    (5)
  • Mike K.

The coffee here is consistently great and they deliver trays full of dough up from a hole at the front and pop them in an oven right behind the counter which fills the place with the smell of baking goodies. They also make sandwiches and yogurt cups, etc. Go for it!

  • Colleen G.

Best Croissant I've ever had in NYC! I think it's even better than eating one in France. What an excellent addition to the neighborhood, so good in fact that I no longer want to move to the west village. The staff is great. Very friendly. I've been going practically every day since it opened. Couldn't be happier that Croissanteria is here in the hood! Love this place. Cat makes the best cappuccino and latte's. Free wifi too! You must try!!!

Update to my prior review: they seemed to have listened and got rid of the horrible staff which was replaced by 3 smiling helpful faces. I had the turkey baguette and a cookie, both fresh and delicious - you can tell they are using high quality ingredients. Bravo to management for getting rid of the mean counter dude - ill definitely return

Such a cozy neighborhood spot with some of the best chai in the city. They fresh brew their chai and for those who are real chai enthusiasts like me you definitely need to come try the chai here. They have an exotic blend of spices like cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and great kick of anise that really set this over the top. Also had a chocolate croissant - obviously had to try. It wasn't as amazing as I expected considering i was at a place called Croissanteria but combined with the chai definitely hit the spot. Will be back based on ambiance, service, chai and there is so much more to try!

  • Diana G.

I discovered Croissanteria for the first time today, and it is now my favorite East Village coffee place. The coffee was great, and so were the mini cinnamon rolls and the chocolate chip cookies were about the best I've ever had. Also, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. I can't say enough good about them. I will definitely be back.

Congrats to Croissanteria!I had an amazing almond croissant! Certainly the best croissant I've had in NY in 12 years. Whatever you guys do, keep it stable in quality and prepare for a line around the block...

When I learned this store had opened in the neighborhood I didn't want to get too excited, because more often than not one-item stores are a fiasco that lasts only a few months. This past week, I stopped by Crossanteria twice. The first time, I ordered a chocolate croissant. It was so good, that after a few bites I thought it was one of the best -if not the best- I've had in NY. Fluffy and crumbly, yet soft and melty, genuinely amazing. The second time, I went for a classic, plain croissant. But they had run out of the regular size so I bought a bunch of plain minis. They weren't warm when I ate them but they were still tasty and great. I had some coffee too....and it was good. Welcome to the neighborhood! I hope you're here to stay.

The last thing I would expect to say about a place is that it has "the best egg salad I've ever tasted"... I mean who cares about egg salad? But this little joint takes it to the next level. I've been in a number of times and always find the staff to be extremely friendly and welcoming (I saw some negative comments about them below but have to say, I've only experienced the complete opposite!). Sparing a couple of stars because I think the prices are about $1.50 too high for the portion sizes in most cases. For a "croissanteria" in the east village, selling to hungry, angsty, hungover hipsters, it would probably be a wiser business strategy to go with the jumbo, American-sized croissant, than the dainty paris cafe size. I also think there should be a lot more choices of items to accompany the croissants. They seem to only have a couple of options for breakfast sandwiches. More variety would be very welcomed I think.

Beautiful spot. Tall ceiling. Marble tables. Staff is wonderful. Coffee delish! Chocolate croissant even better. Great place to get some reading done where the music isn't blasting in your ears. Oh and the wifi actually works. Best coffee shop in East Village.

A wonderful new coffee/croissant shop and it's only a minute away from my apartment! The smell of bakery just kills me, it's too good. The coffee is fresh, fresh, fresh, and the friendly vibe is a very "local" feeling. Long may you last!

Delicious pastries and very good sandwiches. Everything is fresh and tasty. The croissants are arguably the best in the U.S. . Intimate, chill and nice looking spot to catch up with a friend, relax over a cup of coffee.

Hmmm...on a quiet Saturday morning, nothing beats a deliciously flaky croissant and coffee. The atmosphere is charming, and a mix of people:students, couples, doggies waiting outside. They offer a deal of 3 mini croissants for $4. Each mini regular and mini chocolate are only $1.25 each, so you should get the other more expensive minis if you want to make the most of this deal. I'd explain what I tried this morning, but frankly I can only guess. The reason for the 3 stars is purely based on the atrocious attitude of the one barista/cashier. We arrived with 2 customers ahead, and she barked "next guest!" a little too loudly each time. Requests were simple - an espresso, what type of cheese comes in this salad- but she was answering with a scowl. When it was my turn, I demurely asked for the 3 minis, so as not to further upset her. She rolled her eyes twice and then claimed she couldn't hear me. My bad. I spoke up, pointing to the 3 types of croissants/pastries left. She quickly picked them up with tongs, threw them in the bag, and gave us our change. The items themselves were great, hence they still earn 3. All were room temperature, but flaky and high quality. The "cake" was a bit too sweet for me. I might never know what I ate today, because our barista never bothered to explain. I even said as I was pointing to one of them "and that one left in the tin,not sure what it's called....."and she ignored me. There were not many people, but she was by herself (out front). Perhaps today wasn't her day, or they have better waitstaff on weekdays. I might stop in again to ask what they offer, but I have low expectations.

This place is decorated nicely and so homey! The seats are cushioned, the menu board is adorable, and the music is very fitting. I got the masala chai, croissant, and a cookie. The chai was underwhelming for something they make themselves, very light taste and overwhelmed by the milk. Treats were delicious though and would recommend! Sadly they ran out of the almond croissant, which I would come back to try! The barista talks with a lot of sass in his voice, so don't be thrown off, but he's friendly. *wifi - yes *outlets - limited, but yes

One of my favorite places to study, do laptop work, treat myself after a life win, etc. Get the prosciutto sandwich on a croissant. I promise you will not regret it. Everything here is freshly made and it shows. Croissanteria is my comfort place and I will keep coming back for more.

  • Maria O.

I had been meaning to try this place because I had heard it was good, but the freshly made sandwiches and coffee really exceeded my expectations...HIGHLY recommend the Mexicaine sandwich and any pastry...this is my new fave for hanging out with my book and Sunday quiet brunch, the staff is super friendly too.

I've been for coffee and pastries a few times now after dropping my little one off at school and every.single.time the girl behind the counter with glasses is a complete jerk. But more important - the pastries are nothing special and the coffee is not good. I had decided to give it a few more tried because its convenient for my morning routine until I heard a few other people say the same thing. So it's not just me. Ciao Croissanteria and cranky and rude woman behind the counter.

I absolutely love this café! Nice warm ambiance and very good costumer service. I really liked their new decorations. Coffee is very good! Can't wait to get another latte! Pastries are good and freshly baked.

Needed a place to grab something to eat and wait for my sister in the neighborhood and Yelp pointed me to this spot--I'm so glad it did! I ordered their fresh squeezed orange juice and their smoked turkey, Brie, and dijonaisse sandwich on a croissant (unfortunately by 4pm they did not have baguettes.) really tasty and filling sandwich. Solid croissant. Highlights: Free wifi. Found an outlet to charge my laptop. A sink easily accessible to wash your subway hands before you sit down to eat. Ample seating and comfy. Not quiet but you can easily put some headphones on and get some work done. Liked that it seemed like a lot of regulars came into this place. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the neighborhood and check out their other options (they also sell coffee and wine!)

A nice cafe set up and good croissant variety . The almond croissant is a must try ! We also tried the mini croissants - cinnamon , strawberry and chocolate almond but were not too impressed . The service and set up is average nothing exceptional .

I happened to be around waiting for my husband and friend for dinner. Wandering around in the cold and glad i stumbled upon this cafe. The second I walked in i smelled freshly baked croissants. The barista was very friendly. Cute place to study with a cup of coffee or just catching up with a friend. Next time, I will definitely try the croissants.

  • Matthew Z.

Mediocre and overpriced. $5.72 for coffee and croissant, neither notable. And if you have a laptop, you'll be sitting in the far corner, no matter how empty it is. Cafe Pick Me Up is just down the street.

Awesome coffee! We didn't get to try mini almond croissants as they were out but tried couple others and loved them.

Charmingly understated neighborhood croissant shop. Unpretentious, smooth coffee, polite staff that doesn't suck up or ignore customers. I stop here every Saturday morning to pick up croissants - if I have the time I sit and eat in the store. The best croissants are mini-plain if you like a high crispness/butter ratio. 4 instead of 5 stars because I've had better ricotta-spinach (a little bland and could be stuffed with more filing) but it doesn't stop me from ordering them when I'm in the mood.

The first time I visited Croissanteria was when I was looking at an apartment. I mean, sure, the apartment was nice and all but now I get to live within a few minutes of freshly baked flakey croissants. I have a weakness for pastries and this place definitely hits the spot. I am not a huge fan of typical bakery items (cupcakes, cookies) but I do like something sweet with my coffee and Croissanteria has many good options. I may be stating the obvious but the best item here is the croissant. It is perfectly flakey and light and always fresh. This place may have spoiled me because now when I get a mediocre croissants (like the one's at whole foods) I can't eat it because i know how good they are here. This place ties with Breads Bakery for the croissant but why decide? They're both good... One is for the morning and one for 30 minutes later. My second favorite thing here is the apple turnover. I usually hate fruit in desserts especially apples (making apple galettes over and over for your culinary pastry exam will do that to you) but the one here does not have a lot of cinnamon and is very light. I was not crazy about the twist they have (it's a croissant dough with pastry creme and chocolate chips) but everything else is really good, such as the almond croissants, chocolate croissants... Really if you get anything croissant here you can't go wrong. If you get here on time (early in the day) you can get one of their delicious fresh baguettes for $3.50. Croissanteria offers mini versions of some of the pastries and you can get 3 minis and a coffee for $6 (with a latte it is $7). They also offer soy/almond milk alternatives for those who don't drink milk. There are also sandwiches, salads, and wine. There is a minimum $5 on card but it almost always comes out to more than that.

Utter disappointment. Their house coffee is so diluted if taste like water. Their overpriced croissant was ok only and nothing to shout about. Doesn't honour restaurant.com voucher so don't even bother. Customer service was average too.

Delicious and fresh - I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast here last week. I got the prosciutto sandwich which was heavenly, freshly squeezed OJ (which I usually don't care for but here was so good!), and the chocolate almond croissant - do yourself a favor get that. It's so good. The mascarpone and chocolate mixture are heavenly. Can't wait to go again!

I got the prociccuto sandwich. Small and pretty much okay for the price offered. Place is also okay and does not close at 9 pm as mentioned in yelp.

Great, fresh food and baked good. My favorite thing to drink is fresh squeezed OJ and they have a machine. It is the best and not over priced. Coffee is great too. I can usually find a seat during the week to work or read. They play great music. Did I mention the food is great? :-) Staff is friendly.

The ham and cheese croissant was cold and over priced 9$. The bacon & egg was very fresh 4$ is worth it. The place was clean but the staff needs to be more upbeat.

Must have the French Ham (bubbling) gruyere croissant!

3 reasons why Croissanteria is still an East Village coffee corner gem. Scroll down if you want to get right to my review. This will be my first review post in "East Village Coffee Corner Series". I used to drink 3-6 espressos a day. When I decided to pursue a healthier lifestyle, I switched to decaf cappuccino: the ugly duck amongst all real coffee beverages and a no go for coffee conoisseurs. However, it is a great choice to conduct a review with because although it is still a regular order (speed and price), it requires just a bit more effort (service), and can therefore complement or destroy the coffee corner (experience). Croissanteria served mine creamy and not too foamy; in a somewhat small glass with a nice compact whole milky texture. It seems their beans are low on acid to give my mundane decaf cappuccino the right authentic coffee taste. Some coffee shops have served bigger but that's not what you're only buying here. 3 reasons why Croissanteria is still a East Village coffee gem. 1. YOU WILL FEEL LIKE A LOCAL. The guys and gals behind the counter actually like working here. Even after being open for over 2 years. Hence, depending on the size of the queue, they will throw in an authentic and funny casual conversation. 2. THEIR MUSIC CAN UPLIFT YOUR DAY IN MINUTES. Powered by a single Bose speaker, they play music that varies indie rock, reggea, folk, mellow minimal depending on who's DJ-ing and what time it is. I have never listened to a bad song here. But hey, who doesn't love The Cure. 3. YOU CAN HANG AROUND A BIT. This coffee shop is set up in such a way that you can sit, stand, wait and work or order your to-go quickly. Their set up has a few benches (although not all have cushions), tables and a chill corner near the window. This is not a place where you bring your laptop and work for hours. Not really appreciated, and this place is light on power sockets. Oh, you can also have a glass of wine, a baguette or one of their self baked sweet or savory goodies. So does Alexa Chung. Review rating (0-10) Speed & Price: 8 Service: 8 Experience: 9

Came here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. Ordered a macchiato and Nutella & banana on croissant. Pros: - croissant is delicious. The layers were thin and crispy, and it was not too oily. - they definitely did not skimp out on the Nutella. It basically oozed out of the croissant at every bite. - ambience of the cafe is relaxed. It has a cosy vibe and plenty tables/seats to accomodate customers. - they offer wine and beer also! Alongside they have a charcuterie board and wine deal. I am definitely returning to try this. Cons: - the coffee did not meet expectations. It was smooth, but the body was too light. I could taste a slight amount of acidity to it, but body was lacking robustness. Unfortunately I could taste more milk than coffee, which is a big no no for macchiatos. I can imagine their strength would be lattes instead. - staff is slow. The barista took almost 10min making the macchiato. There was no one else waiting for coffee at this time. A macchiato is literally a shot of espresso with a slight stain of milk. - banana in croissant is not ripe. In fact it was so raw it was slightly tough to bite into. Overall I would come back here for their food. I would like to try the charcuterie board next time, as well as their French ham baguette. Will not be ordering my coffees from here again. Definitely did not wake me up.

Great coffee and amazing pastries, the best cobb salad I've had in years. I really loved the capuccino and the orange juice is absolutely fresh and delicious! Super value for the price.

Now that I've acknowledged my croissant problem, I was excited to have a spot practically next door that could satisfy the cravings I've been having to find a croissant that equals my heavenly, previously reviewed experience in Germany. Sadly, I don't think this place is going to cut it, and it's mostly my high expectations that ruined it. Came in one Friday morning and bought the mini versions of the chocolate croissant and almond croissant. Both were good, but not super great. Not oven flaky fresh. I chalked this up to just being because they're the mini versions, so I hoped to go back and try again. Upon my second return early one morning before heading to work not long after they'd opened, I walked in excited to see the trays of goodies coming straight out of the oven. However, as the precious commute minutes ticked by, I wondered why my order was not taken down and filled a bit more quickly, seeing that it was morning rush time. True, there was a group of apparent tourists slowing things up with breakfast sandwich orders, but still. Finally, when I asked again about the delay, a woman, who I assume is an owner based on my two visits, said that chocolate croissants wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes. Sorry, but that's time I don't have to spare. And it confused me why such a popular item would not be ready to go at opening. I'll probably be back based on sheer proximity and fairly positive reviews, but I'm disappointed that this place can't be a go to spot on my way to work.

We took a hike from LIC to this place on a Sunday morning because my husband was craving for a good Parisian croissant. I wasn't thrill to get dragged over there at 9am. It better be a good place or I would be very grumpy for the day. BUT I have to say I was really impressed and LOVED it. Their pastries are very close to the ones we loved dearly in Paris. The almond croissant blew our minds (too bad they only had one left or I would get a few to go). It was SOOOOO good -- a buttery heaven. The latte was good and you know they are serious about their expresso drinks when they can do a few good latte art. The orange juice was just okay-- not because of the skill or anything, it's because oranges do taste different in France. We will for sure be going back again!

They have been "out" of mocha for for 3months now. Isn't that great? Oh and yeah. No orange juice too ! Why can't you take it off your menu board if you don't have it ?

What a gem. So happy I found this delightful place. I fancy myself a coffee snob, this place has the best coffee within a square mile. I brought my friends from st tropez and Paris. They confirmed these are authentic french pastry with the real deal butter. No BS. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Talking to the staff I hear they are adding to the menu. I will be back soon to see what new items. Also love that neighborhood and I think this place is a good fit. I hope they open another one on upper east side .

I don't know whether to give this place 1 star or five. I love the food -- the croissants are great, the ham & gruyere sandwich on baguette is amazing and most of the employees are super nice. That all makes for a 5 star review. But one employee there really just ruins everything. Her attitude is so bad, it makes me never want to go back -- and I used to go multiple times a week, sometimes even twice a day. The first few times I went in, I had such a wonderful experience with great customer service and super cool employees -- they even made me fresh baguettes once when they were out. Then, whenever they weren't there and the other girl was, the whole ambiance in the place was different. Her bad attitude just radiates from behind the counter. She yelled at my boyfriend once for asking for extra jelly; One time I asked her for extra jelly, and because she didn't respond at all (which people usually do when they hear you), I thought she didn't hear me. So, I said, "I'm sorry, I don't know if you heard me, can you throw in an extra jelly, please?" She snapped back, "I heard you, OK?" and threw the jelly in the bag. I hear her constantly snapping at customers -- to an old lady with thick glasses and obviously poor eyesight/hearing, when she asked what type of croissant an item was: "It's NOT a croissant, it's a cookie," super aggressively. Today, however, takes the cake. So I went in this morning and got a bunch of croissants, she was there and was rude, but whatever, right? Their croissants are good. My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to go back to get the ham sandwich for a late lunch. We walked in, noticed it was her again and prepared for some attitude as usual. When we ordered the sandwiches she said, "Um. Ok. But our oven is off so it won't be hot." I didn't understand. "Our oven is off because its a waste of energy. So your sandwich will be cold." I still didn't really understand. "We aren't using the oven very much and its a waste of energy so I turned it off and I'm not turning it back on." I still don't really understand this but... apparently she's too busy saving the environment to make my sandwich? Needless to say, we left and went down the street to Tompkins Square Bagels, where they are still willing to toast sandwiches. To be clear, this isn't me being picky and wanting a toasted sandwich for no reason. It says toasted on the menu, and it's supposed to be served hot. Served cold kinda defeats the whole purpose. From now on, I'm gonna look through the window and if I see her working, steer clear. If I were the owner, I would be PISSED if I found out my employee not only had a horrible attitude but would rather save me a few bucks on the electricity bill than make money serving customers. Let's be real -- she probably doesn't give a shit about the environment, and definitely doesn't care about her boss' electricity bill. She just can't be bothered to help customers and didn't want to do ANY work today. She should've just called in sick. That way, she wouldn't have to work and wouldn't scare away loyal customers. If I were the owner, I would REALLY pay attention to these yelp reviews. Almost every review here is super positive, regarding the food, at least. Every single negative review is because of the staff and the customer service, or lack thereof.

I am so glad that Clinton Street Bakery had a two hour wait. I would never have ventured into Alphabet City if it weren't that and my Yelp app. Food: the croissants with smoked salmon and ham were excellent. The Americano was PERFECT. I tried the Cappuccino and Macchiato, but the Americano was to die for. Definitely the best coffee I have had in a long, long time. The chocolate chip cookie and raisin baguette were also quite good. Everything seems freshly made! Prices are quite high, though! Service: the person behind the counter seemed to know every single person in line! One of the owners even chatted about how he had a sports bar in Shanghai some years ago but came back to open this business. Quite impressive. Decor: it's simply decorated. The WiFi didn't work for some reason. Everyone here seemed quite educated =). I shall return.

If your in the area, go here for a latte and a crossiant! This was the first time I visited and I'll definitely come back. I am very particular with my expresso and pleasantly surprised by how good the latte was here. I ordered the banana and nutella crossiant - delicious! Couldn't have asked for a better breakfast. Service was also fantastic! Super friendly folk, and quaint location. Great for a snack or small lunch to read a book or converse with a friend.

Stopped in for a chocolate chip cookie because I was attacked by a chocolate chip cookie craving. It was delicious--not too big, so either you don't feel awful about it (or the second one...), moist, lots of chocolate chips. This is one chocolate chip cookie that's worth the calories. Once I'd finished licking my fingers, I looked up and noticed the rest of the place. Pretty cute. They have advertised on a chalkboard a pretty great deal. A meat plate (salami, olive, etc.) for $14, or $30 with a bottle of wine! Go forth, have a cookie (and/or or a bottle of wine) and enjoy!

Wow this little place has a great vibe and makes great food. From the sweet to savory. I would recommend getting something out of the oven fresh as nothing beats a warm pastry. They even have beer and wine at reasonable prices. Only downside is that it is a hike from any train.

Coffee is good, Toby's estate, if a bit weak for this Aussies taste. Baguette great! The only flaw is the icy service. :(

I love sandwiches using croissants so imagine my joy when I discovered this place only a few blocks from my job. Their sandwiches are fantastic! For breakfast I love a chocolate croissant with their coffee which btw is quite good and I'm also happy to learn they recently joined CUPS. For lunch I love the sandwich with organic chicken salad, arugula, smoked bacon, and egg. Delectable and filling. I will say they are slightly on the pricey side but I just love croissants so I can't avoid this place. They also serve freshly squeezed orange juice which is awesome. And they serve wine and have a happy hour in the evenings. So yea, this place is a great all day spot!

Not sure what happened here - staff seems to have disappeared, leaving the the worst customer service I've ever encountered in its wake. Eight bucks for a croissant and coffee, two bites into said croissant I was told I had to "sit in the back" because they "don't allow laptops" near the entrance, even though (a) I don't have a laptop but a tiny tablet, and said (b) the no-laptop rule doesn't apply to the second-rate Russian models perched at the window, surfing away. Other tables empty. Wonder why? I should have known Senor Tuck-furd's trying to build a Studio 54 when, before I could order, he barked "DRIP?" and shoved a plastic cup in my face. No laptops? How's "no customers?" I don't think the culture-of-humiliation strategy works in small cafes, although I might be wrong. But I guess I'll never know! On the plus side - forget about the fact that the encounter ruined my day, who cares - this type of treatment is a valuable experience for a fairly attractive, white male; THIS type of dynamic is what women have been recently complaining about - and it is indeed difficult for men to empathize, because for most people, lived experience is a prerequisite for empathy, and this is not their fault. I won't even get into ethnicity, but I will say that the undercurrent of violent aggression is a real thing, and maddeningly difficult to prove or even describe. Probably the only way to demonstrate it is not even through personal testimonials but via literature. This is indeed the strongest argument for art in a society. The croissants are superb, though.

The East Village can be a wee bit sleepy early in the morning. It is fun at night but a quiet quintessential historic NYC neighborhood afterwards. So arriving early to shops that open on the side of later we were pressed to kill a little time before meeting up with our appointment. Serendipitously French bakery and coffeehouse Croissanteria beckoned us in with the promise of a nice place for a little sit down, handcrafted coffee, a loo (let's be real, it's a luxury when far from the home port) and a counter full of freshly laid out warm pastries. It was also eerily quiet in there as they had on no music and conversation was only to be found at the register. All the side tables were taken with people scurrying away on their devices. But they had their coffees and we were cool with the mellow pace. I ordered one of their fresh pressed orange juices made by their fancy automated oranger juicer and The L. had a very frothy soy mocha latte made by the nice barista. Each was served in a rounded glass. I am used to French coffee in a thicker Picardie style tumbler but his was hot and required a napkin to carry it over. My orange juice being room temperature had no issue. We sat and imbibed milling away along with everyone else and voila! the music was put on making the experience that much better as it had felt almost like a contemplative sanctuary feel. I had meant to purchase some pastries for take home but the time got away from us and we had to dash. My bad! The almond croissants looked especially tempting. Next time! youtu.be/MYSVMgRr6pw

I live right upstairs from this cafe. Every morning I can smell the delicious pastries from my window. The employees are kind and the food quality is great. The sandwiches and croissants are so good and there fresh made orange juice compliments the fresh pastries very well, it's a great breakfast/brunch/lunch experience that will have you coming back many times after!

This place could be great,,, But one bad employee can ruin anything, and boy do they have a terrible little employee taking orders. Word of caution, avoid the short girl with black girl who is always wearing a hipster beanie. She is super rude. Taking my money elsewhere.

I'll be nice, The coffee was good. The Croissants are abit over priced... My wife and I had Egg and Bacon Croissants it was good and the 3 Mini croissants Chocolate and regular it was ok. Something about it just being good and but not great and not cost efficient to make the slightest full will only earn 4 stars... I went home to eat snacks after...

Croissanteria...the name says it all. If you love croissants as much as I do, this place is for you. I came early morning on a weekday (oh the things I do for fresh pastries) so I didn't run into any crowds there. All different types of croissants and croissant sandwiches. Some other pastries too and of course, coffee. I had the nutella banana croissant and a cappuccino. So good. Cash only, kids.

Pros: -Looks really nice inside -Friendly service -Deliciously flaky and buttery croissants -not too expensive -good cup of coffee -large selection of espresso/coffee drinks Cons: -Kind of a small selection of food -Limited seating If you're like me and tried going to the Clinton St. Baking Company but saw it had a 1.5 hour wait, then be aware that this cheaper, quicker, and delicious breakfast option is only a short walk away. If you're in the neighborhood then make it down here, the food tastes great. I wouldn't call it a destination in its own right, however.

Haven't tried the croissant or latte yet but the cashier was so unfriendly and weirdly pressured me to pay with cash even though the credit card machine was working...and then seemed annoyed at this extra step of swiping the card and printing a receipt. The place was empty. You should be happy someone came in! Also who carries cash in NY??

What happened to the friendly staff? Just keeps getting worse and worse. (See my previous reviews as the stars keep falling off) Also- answer your phone? Seriously annoying. I like to call and order sandwiches ahead or call to check to see if they have the ingredients - prior to getting there and being disappointed. And where did your French baguettes go? I loved them and you haven't had them in forever!!! Sadly, Not sure I am going to waste my time here anymore.

A lovely, croissant-centric cafe. Important to know: lots of seating, free wifi, super chill and nice staff, and all the sandwiches come on either croissants or baguettes (win!). I had a grilled cheese, on a croissant! Fab idea and delicious. The Boss is very good as well. Fairly small portions (I'm used to huge croissants, apparently), but still very good.

Sold out of eggs n bacon croissant at 11.00 sad face. BUT French ham saved my day. And finish of with banana n Nutella. So full. Lovely latte with almond milk, easy music, really good place for breakfast.

Coffee - delicious Service - terrible The barista couldn't be bothered to make the drink for me. Had an attitude and wouldn't make eye contact with me. He wanted to ask me if I had told him I wanted skim milk and did so by not making eye contact with me and repeating it out loud to the ceiling. Add insult to injury by paying $7 for your drink.

Hit or miss with pastries. Sometimes the muffins taste dry. The spinach croissant is pretty good though. The orange juice is super pricey and sometimes not sweet enough. The lay out is relaxed though and quiet enough so you can study while others chat. Staff isn't the friendliest.

Of all croissant options, my favorite is pain au chocolat, and in NYC I have not found anyone who can beat Balthazar (that distributes them all over the city, including many of the kiosks at LaGuardia, which is where I usually pick them up) . I was hoping Croissanteria would be able to be a close option for me because I live nearby but their version is a little puny and not flaky enough to satisfy my craving.

  • Jeannie H.

So before I found Croissanteria my fav place for chocolate almond croissants was at Ceci Cela in Soho but I have to say..this may be my fav place now especially since it's closer to me!! Lol In one seating, I had three mini croissants (chocolate, cinnamon and strawberry) and an ice coffee for breakfast and believe it or not, decided to have lunch here too! The smokey turkey was TDF and the mini chocolate almond croissant with a cappuccino for dessert was something else. Now if you're counting that was 4 mini croissants and a sandwich in 3 hours! The ice coffee and cappuccino were awesome. I had to get out of here ASAP or I would of tried everything else before dinner... The best Croissants in NYC, Paris in NY!!!!!

-Pain au Chocolate: tastes like a normal one. Not that great but I'm not a fan of these anyways because there's never enough chocolate filling. -Apple Turnover: the croissant is nice and flaky and the apple filling good but there's not enough of it. -Choc

Loved the fresh croissants. I'm a sucker for chocolate croissants whenever I see them. The croissant was light, fluffy and with just the right amount of chocolate. The Mr. had a specialty croissant that he loved as well. The cafe is very easy maneuver and has a decent amount if seats for folks who want to enjoy their treats there. The highlight of the trip however was a older lady who randomly came into the shop and started telling at the staff for no reason. The staff handled the situation with grace and the lady went on her way. Strange, but oddly comical at the same time.

Underwhelming. The chocolate chip cookie was uncooked, and the almond chocolate croissant was just average. The place looked promising, but the goods were just mediocre, if that.

Very cute coffee shop, coffee is excellent and the ambience is great! There is plenty of room to sit and they always play the coolest music. If you never been here before you must try the croissant it is amazing!!

I used to go here a lot last year, the staff used to be very nice. Today I went again and the staff (new people) was terrible. They were extremely rude when I asked them to please reset the wireless because it wasn't working. Then they pretended they reset it but they really didn't. Never going here again. When I asked again ( I really needed the connection for work) they didn't even look at me. I am sure the owners would not be happy to witness this.

Come here mid-morning or mid-afternoon for a cup of their house blend coffee and a chocolate croissant. Coffee is good and the chocolate croissant is heavenly! Buttery, light, crispy exterior with a soft and warm pastry dough enveloping soft chocolate ganache. The croissants are made fresh here daily and are the perfect snack indulgence. I have not tried the savory croissants here but I'm sure you can't go wrong. If you're thinking about it - do it!

The fresh croissant was amazing, my latte was very good as well. The service was nice but now after I've read some of the reviews I'm thinking why didn't anyone mention the specials to me, 3 minis and coffee with juice for $9! Maybe I was late, I got there at 3 but, I also didn't see it advertised in the store? I'm definitely going back for more croissants!

Nice spot for some well brewed coffee. Seating is a bit hard to come by, but the space is there. Their tuna sandwich was more like a lettuce sandwich. Totally dig the serving coffee is clear cups.

This review is long overdue... They are doing just about everything right at the Croissanteria. Highlights for me are: the amazing coffee, really delicious croissants, great atmosphere, smoked salmon sandwich, friendly baristas, close proximity to my apartment, and the hot croissant man who works here (marry me?). My personal favorite croissant is the cinnamon/hazelnut/raisin swirl (best breakfast ever), but you really can't go wrong with any of the freshly-baked pastries here. They are now accepting credit cards AND serve alcohol--woohoo! They have excellent orange juice and I bet the mimosas are even better.
