I was extremely disappointed in the food. The only reason this is getting three stars is because the wait staff was very attentive. I got the pumpkin ravioli for dinner and looking at it, it appeared that there was cinnamon on it, but I could absolutely not taste anything. I mean anything. For appetizer we got the ricotta cheese and my son, who will eat absolutely anything, took one bite and refused to eat anymore. The cannoli we got for dessert was delicious, but it was the only thing that we had with any flavor. I was so looking forward to this place, and I'm sad to have been so disappointed.

Went in for lunch after accidentally finding it on a trip to Little Italy deli next door. What a great airy space, solid food & service. The bar space is gorgeous and open kitchen is great to see. I'll definitely be coming back for dinner in near future.

I've been twice and walked away thoroughly satisfied both times. For a weekend night it's probably best to make a reservation since everybody else seems to agree this is the new hot place in the area. The fried clams were excellent. The bread they brought to the table was good (and the olive oil they brought without asking --nice touch), but the bread would have been better warmed up. The pasta is made fresh and you can tell; and high marks for the bolognese. My wife got the chicken parm and after tasting several bites I realized she picked the winner - it was seriously top notch and I couldn't get over the breading on it. I haven't tried the pizza yet but after watching them make it as you walk by, it's definitely on the list to try. Couldn't fit in desert so I can't comment on that either. The staff was attentive and friendly, which added to the experience. Took a while for the food to come out, but I think they're still working out a few kinks in the operations, which is totally understandable. Not a cheap night out, but completely worth it for me. Two great experiences and I'm already planning to go back for more.

Me and my family around 40 people total .it was in between a afternoon and evening wake.the price was $28. A person. 4 tables of 10.each table had a large plate of antipasto and salad.that was good.after that they came with a small bowl of spaghetti and that bowl was to feed 10 people? Then came a small bowl of penne Ala vodka for 10 people? Then a plate of 10 small pieces of chicken breast with mozzarella. To be honest the food was good. But to pass a tiny plate of spaghetti and penne around a table of 10 was a joke! Believe me no one over filled there plates.some people had NO pasta at all! On my plate alone I took the equivalent of two fork fulls of spaghetti and 5 pieces of penne and one piece of chicken and a good amount of salad and antipasto. When I walked in and this being the first time I was here I said this place looked nice and that I wanted to come here again.but I must say this place is a total rip off and will never see me or anyone from are group again.

Really wanted to like Scalia & Co. Heard lots of good things about the deli and the pizza; could have been a significant improvement in the Monroe dining landscape. Alas, not quite what we hoped. Beer and wine selection were good, and the fried mozz was excellent. But the mains were meh. Linguine with vongole was too heavy on garlic and light on flavor. Special raviolis has a taste of soap. But -- I very much would like Scalia & Co to succeed. So would be willing to give another try, even though will find it hard to get in-laws to join us (and this time they have to pay).

This is NOW one of my favorite places. What's great is its in our town. No more long drives to NYC just to get REAL AUTHENTIC Italian dishes!! The food is all homemade fresh everyday. Homemade pasta, ricotta, mozzarella, everything is amazing. Oh, and the MEATBALLS are out of this world. The family who owns this place are kind and welcoming. They make you feel like their extended family. I have been here many times since and every time I have taken friends and family. They all said "OMG this place is delicious". We are totally coming back!! Plus the decorating and bar are so pleasing.

Stopped for a drink and some raw bar after work. Great oysters. Little necks were closer to cherrystones. Drink was made perfectly. Definitely coming back!

I gave them 3 stars because they must know when you sit in one of their booths and someone is sitting in the next booth, but behind you, you go for a ride each time they move. Men tend to move more, so if you have a guy in back of you, hold on! It is a HORRIBLE distraction from the otherwise fabulous restaurant. Food is wonderful, we had an app and 2 different entrees, all great, really great! Service was extremely thoughtful and near perfect. Just don't sit in a booth. We will leave, if no other table is available upstairs. There are a couple of other great Italian restaurants near by. P.S. Cannoli is fabulous.

A good first impression ! Efficient service and already a solid menu. Also a sharp and modern decor, not frequent in Monroe. If they keep on track and on target, It has the potential to quickly become a fun place to stop by for a tasty bite or a full italian meal in Monroe ! -The antipesto plate was generous and tasty. -We ordered gluten free fusilli bolognese and pepper and fennel crusted salmon. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce very tasty but it could have used a little more sauce to lighten up a bit the raggu. A matter of taste, we like our bolognese "saucy". Keep the dense meat raggu for the lasagna. This being said, the raggu was very good. -The salmon was perfectly cooked. It came out moist and married well with the warm tomatoe/olive/pignolli garnish. -The tiramisu was fresh, flavorful, enjoyable and ... big ! Not the best tiramisu we've had but this definitely not the store bought, bland and runny concoction you too often get. This is homemade with quality ingredients! We just like it with a bit more coffee, coco powder and mascarpone. Next time, we have to try their pizza too !

You can't help loving this place....the atmosphere - nothing like this in Monroe, the staff - lovely....Selection of booze - top shelf.....finally some place to go a bit upscale yet casual. Good Luck fellas!!!! Thank you for the new addition to the quiet town.

Took the family and had a great meal. Very friendly, family-owned place. Hearty Italian dishes. Waiter and owners very nice and interacted with the kids even. Beautiful brand new place. Bar is awesome. Open kitchen. Looks like it would be good for a Happy Hour for some drinks and a snack too. Top 2-3 Italian places that I have been to in Orange County I would say (if not the best but I will save that designation until I visit several more times).

My husband & I took his mother out for dinner on Saturday as she had not been there yet & we had once before. The first time we were there it was wonderful, the food was incredible & our server, Colleen was amazing. This time, not so much. Our server, I believe her name was Maria, was absolutely terrible!! I work in the restaurant business myself, so I expect a high level of service when I am able to go out. It took about 10 minutes to receive the drink I ordered, which wasn't very good (tasted like cough syrup). It wasn't even busy so 10 minutes for a drink is annoying. We were then put off when we wanted to just put in our appetizer order, because my husband couldn't decide what he wanted for his entrée, but were told that she couldn't do that because she needed to have our order in it's entirety. SERIOUSLY!!! That's absolutely ridiculous!! So my husband felt rushed to choose his entrée because he didn't want to have his mother & myself wait to eat. I get this isn't the servers fault being I'm sure it was how the kitchen wanted them to put orders in, but it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The food, again, was very good, no complaints there. When it was time to pay our bill, we put our card in & it took about 10-15 minutes to get it back to sign! She passed our table twice as I saw the bill in her apron. She could've easily dropped it on the table as she was passing. Next time, if there's a next time, I will only ask for Colleen to be my server. As annoying as it is to ask for a certain server, I would much rather walk out & go somewhere else than be served by Maria again.

I was disappointed. The waitress was humorless, the space was loud, the food was ok and the drinks were extremely over priced.

Buffalo mozzarella appetizer was the best I've found outside Rome; may have to make a trip back to Monroe (my home town) from California just to get it again; like candy. Pasta is excellent, pizza is great; shockingly good food in Monroe; probably the best restaurant in town. Atmosphere is also lively and reminds me of some of the italian places I used to eat at in Manhattan. Service was great; waiter was entertaining and attentive, and reminded me of how thick my own NY accent used to be ;-)

Just had lunch with my family, wow ... Amazing service and most importantly the food was fresh and delicious! You have to stop in when you are in the Monroe area, you will not be disappointed!

This is exactly what Orange County needed, classic and original Italian dishes made to perfection, the way your grandmother would make them for Sunday dinner. The food is absolutely fantastic with varieties on the menu from brick oven pizzas, beautiful entrees, and savory deserts. What this place also has is a beautiful bar if your in the mood to change the scenery when you want to grab a drink. I've been to Scalia and Co a few times since they've opened and has already become my favorite restaurant in the area. If you haven't gone, go, if you have, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Enjoy!

We reserved a table for four at Scalia last night. We arrived on time - the host quipped, "You must be my reservation", the implication being that we were their only reservation - we would've just shown up and taken any table, but it was a special occasion so my husband thought it wise to reserve a table. We were then down to a very odd little table literally beneath the stairs just beyond the entrance where we'd be sure to be both cold and cramped. When asked for a real table further back we were told they had given all of those away and were not seating upstairs. The staff is very friendly if a little hyper - hard to get them to stop long enough to make an order - we had to stop ours three times consecutively to complete our requests. The food here is fine, with the exception of the pizza. I had high hopes for this pizza as Scalia likes to talk up its 800 degree pizza oven. My pizza was soggy on the bottom, due perhaps to the preponderance of flavorless watery sauce. Indeed when I asked for some oregano I was told they didn't have any - I suspect they don't have much in the way of spices period based on the very bland, undercooked pizza. The crust would've been quite tasty otherwise, and the mozzerella was fresh. The others in our party were fine with their meals. Scalia is a relatively new restaurant with a pretty cool vibe for OC. I wish them well and trust they'll work out the kinks.

So far so good. The place is really nice with a fancy bar and a nice upstairs loft for additional dining. The food was decent, but not great. The portions were also very healthy!!!

I am very surprised to see such good reviews for this place. The restaurant must have family and friends reviewing. This place is AWFUL - little italy next to it is great, but they do not translate well into the restaurant side of things. First off i thought the decor was awful - and the menu "lunch" was limiting. The waiter we had was RUDE, NON HELPFUL and just an overall unpleasant person - NOTE: YOU SHOULD FIRE HIM. Then the food comes. The bolognese sauce looked like mushed dog food it was simply the worst i have ever seen and perhaps the worst part of this is the person in my party who ordered this was sick for 2 days after. This by far was the worse place i have been to in a long time- better off going to Angelos in Harriman, NY for good italian pasta dishes. Do not go here. Sincerely disappointed, and i really hope the owner takes a better look at his service and cook.

They hosted my son's rehearsal dinner and did an amazing job! We dine there a couple times a month since the day they opened. The dinner specials are outstanding...tonight I had Rainbow Trout. My husband hates the Yankees but loves the Bronx Bomber pizza. Service is excellent. Love this place!

Lived in the area for about 4 years and sadly shopped in this strip mall but never noticed this place. The food was really good, our waitress Colleen was awesome and the vibe of the overall place is what I've been looking for ever since I've moved to this area. I'll be returning back often. Wine on tap??? I thought it was strange at first but was surprised on the quality. Maybe a tad too much carbonation (if your into wine, you'll know what I mean) but honestly liked it. Found my new local spot and will return. Highly recommended for all including family with kids.

We ate here twice, once at night and another time in the day and both visits were literally like night and day. The place has a beautiful industrial/ contemporary/ Tuscan mix decor with both rust colored and brick walls, exposed pipes... The first visit was wonderful. We didn't know what to expect, but were awestruck at the flavor, the delight by the FRESHNESS of the food we were eating! The owner came around with fresh mozzarella, the drinks were on point, the place was packed and the night was magical. It's been a while since I've tasted such fresh, properly cooked food. The wood fired wings were our appetizer. I had the margherita pizza, he had the seafood fra diavolo. We vowed to return... We came back for lunch. It was quiet, but we were so ready to revisit our previous experience. Like chasing a high. The waiter was cold. He was abrupt, and by the time we asked for our check, we'd decided he was downright rude. From bossing the rather sweet and friendly young bus boy around IN FRONT OF US (who happened to be extremely helpful btw), to making up a dumb@ss excuse as to why he didn't bring out any rosemary ciabatta while we waited for our meal... wtf?? Reading a few other reviews here and on Trip Advisor, I see others have caught on. We stopped by a third time (not to eat though). I spied the same dude determined to squeeze a family of 4 into a corner by joining 4 stools and 2 tables even though they insisted on a dining table upstairs! There was no 3rd dining visit for us simply because we'd rather come out of our pockets for places that offer EXCEPTIONAL and CONSISTENT customer service-- as Best of Little Italy next door does. Rude people, myself and drinks don't mesh well. Shame.

Service was attentive and the food was delicious.prior to our appetizer the server provided us with fresh warm rosemary focaccia with balsamic and olive oil. The fried calamari appetizer was fresh, tender, and flavorful. It came with a delicious garlic Herb dipping sauce. We ordered the Bronx Bomber pizza and a meatball parm sub. The portions are generous and they were both incredibly good. The parm came with a dollop of housemade ricotta. So good!

This was our second time here and both times were great! We went there last night for dinner for our anniversary and it was a great experience. The drinks were great and made well, we ordered oysters on the half shell, two appetizers (Antipasto Don Vito & Calamari Fritti) and dinner and everything was delicious! I thought the portion size was great as well. I ordered the Shrimp Parmigiana Ala Moda and my husband ordered the Chicken Parmigiana for dinner and both were hot when they came out and very flavorful! They happened to overhear it was our anniversary and they brought over two glasses of prosecco on the house, which I thought was a very nice added and unexpected treat! I think it was a great atmosphere, they were a little busy for a Tuesday night but not busy enough that we had to wait for a table. I will definitely be back!

Do not let the outside fool you, this place is SO PRETTY INSIDE. Beers are 10/10, our waitress Colleen 10/10, this place doesn't feel like Monroe. The food was SO GOOD. The foccacia, mezzaluna frittas, holy s**t!!! The cutest little water boy filling glasses. Try the Peroni Italian beer amazing. I was floored by my experience and freshness of the seafood!!

This new staple in the area was much needed. A very crafty (see what I did there) restaurant adds a bit of life to the town that desperately needed a great restaurant. The atmosphere is very inviting and the background music allows for easy conversation. The whole wait staff was very good and attentive throughout our whole visit. For starters, we tried the Antipasto Don Vito that had a great assortment of Prosciutto di Parma, sopressata, marinated mozzarella & aged provolone and some lettuce coupled with the clams oreganata. Both orders were fresh and had some excellent flavors that I would recommend. For entrees, we tried the Fennel crusted Salmon fillet that had an excellent balance of a salty crust with some capellini that had black olives and a garlic & herb pesto. It also came with some very well cooked asparagus. I tried the Bronx Bomber pizza that was cooked well-done even without me asking for it to be that had an excellent char of flavor on the crust. The sausage, pepperoni and basil all complimented one another so well, that I cannot wait to come back and have another. I am not sure how we made it to dessert, but we ordered the Chocolate/Espresso mousse that was so rich and excellent and also gave the panna cotta with a berry coating that was so rich and creamy and a perfect way to end the meal. Top it off with an espresso and cappuccino, what more could you ask for? Overall great experience and I look forward to the next visit. Buon appetito!

I have been a long time customer of the owners deli business and they have always served the finest quality Italian food. I was very excited to try the restaurant and finally got a chance tonight. As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you are transported into a "city" feeling. The decor is beautiful and well thought out. Our server was extremely attentive and the drinks were generously poured. The calamari was one of the best I've ever had, the pasta was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. Definitely will be returning very soon!

  • J. G.

The food is incredible and beautiful bar area....however, I'm only giving it four stars because the wait staff was a bit immature and obnoxious. Too much chatting/yelling/hanging out/disturbing the atmosphere when the bosses aren't around. But, back to the food....their pizzas are phenomenal, especially the fig/prosciutto. Delicious wings...very different....arrived on a bed of sauteed onions and focaccia. Will absolutely return, but I think they need more serious servers for such a trendy place.

The staff over at Scalia is one of the best Ive ever had. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a great date night and tried everything from the oysters to the wine on tap to the pork chops and espresso martinis. Everything was five stars. The owner himself was kind enough to chat with us. We will be back again and again.

Food Food Food. Huge portions of delicious Italian cuisine. Nice decor and wonderful waiters and waitress' that tend to your every need. The $29.95 dinners cannot be beat. Every entree is different with a wide selection, with appetizers and dessert that are by far the best ever. A must go to restaurant. Will return and keep returning.

Have been going there since they opened. At first it was a novel menu. But they have not changed it at all. All very heavy food. They don't have specials. It would be nice if they had some lighter fare. Maybe some northern Italian dishes.

What an absolute gem of a place. The food is outstanding the atmosphere is incredible and the staff is the absolute most professional courteous and dedicated wait staff I have experienced in a long time . You can tell the owners put a lot of work, heart, time, and dedication into creating an atmosphere that is worthy of a 5 star place,. And the food? Delicious. Don't miss out!

Scalia & Co. Is everything amd more for delicious cuisine right here in Monroe NY. Family owned business who really know how to welcome their customers with great food. The staff have great hospitality and know how make great choices with their menu. Nice atmosphere and ambiance. Took my wife to celebrate her birthday and looks like we most definitely will be regulars. The lobster feteccuini was remarkable. I had the salmon with tomatoes and asparagus. One word delicious! Definitely a must to see for yourself.

Definitely a great start. The waiter made a point to say that they didn't have their full menu and they were still working on timing things in the kitchen, so we expected a somewhat rocky experience. But they definitely pulled through. I was a big fan of the decor. This place would fit in well in NYC. There was only one table that would be wheelchair accessible, so that might be a problem in the future. (Otherwise, the tables downstairs are either high tops, or a row of booths that are a step up. The rest of the seating is up a flight of stairs.) We ordered the meatballs for an appetizer for our toddler. She loved them! They were delicious and came in a bowl full of sauce, which was great because many places don't give enough sauce, and some ricotta cheese on the side. The only negative comment I have is that they weren't hot. Of course, given that it was for our toddler, it worked out better that way, but I could see how others might not like that. My husband had the mezzaluna fritti, which he said was tasty. Again, it came with a ramekin of sauce, which was much appreciated. I had the fettucini with meat sauce and it was absolutely delicious. The pasta was al dente and I prefer mine a little softer, but it wasn't a big deal. It had amazing flavor and the sauce was very meaty. My husband had the chicken parmesan. It was huge! Also very tasty--good combination of flavors and spices. My only observation was that the sauce and cheese didn't cover the whole chicken. But it came with a side of pasta (menu says angel hair but it was spaghetti), so the entire dish was a large serving. No chocolate desserts :-( so we passed on anything sweet. I'm so excited this place opened up in Monroe. I really hope they are successful, which would hopefully encourage other restaurants to open.

Came here 10 minutes after the kitchen closed but was welcomed with open arms and invited to stay and eat. The customer service and hospitality was amazing and the food tasted homemade and very delicious. Large portion sizes and they started us off with a free heart-shaped pizza! Would recommend anyone stop here- very good experience!!

Scalia & Co is no question the best Italian restaraunt in Monroe. It has only been open for a little over a month and the staff is already incredibly efficient. I've dined there three times now and each experience has been a excellent one. The meatballs are phenomenal. They have an appetizer version that I highly recommend just to get a taste. Coming from someone who lives in NYC this place has a very New York feel to it in a little intimate town. This is a must visit if you live in Orange County

Amazing. Best meal I've had in Monroe and I've lived here for twenty years. I had the Sunday meat gravy, friends had Bolognese and Chicken Parmigiana. Each dish was like grandma would make. Excellent service. We will be back.

My girlfriend and I made a long awaited trip to Scalia & Co last night as part of Restaurant Week. We made 8 o'clock reservations and were seated 10 minutes after arrival by our waitress Colleen who was extremely tentative and very kind to give our orders to. The restaurant was bustling which was expected at this well talked about establishment. I started with the French onion soup which was generously topped with fresh provolone bubbling over the sides of the bowl. My girlfriend had the Fagioli where we both uttered the words "my mouth is watering" simultaneously. Needless to say, it was the best French onion soup I've had anywhere, while my girlfriends only complaint was there was little to no beans in her dish as the menu stated. We were then given our entrees, I was presented with a Fettuccine Bolognese topped with a beautiful array of meats with fresh homemade pasta. It was the best pasta I've had outside of Italy. My lady had the shrimp parm, a gigantic serving with tons of shrimp and fresh ricotta, it was exquisite. We finished the night with a delicious palenta cake with a flavorful fig compote, and a beautiful panna cotta. This is an amazing restaurant which will no doubt have great success in the future with it's great family orientated atmosphere and astonishing food. We will definitely be back again.

This is the best place around, orange county needed something like this, its a family business and you could tell as soon as you walk through the door.We were greeted by Marco from what we found out later was one of the owners the youngest of the 3 brothers. He introduced us to his Mom who was also greeting people just to help out (a lovely lady) He told us our table would be ready in about 10 minuets which was fine because we were early any way and we wanted to have a couple of drinks at the bar. The bartenders were also very friendly attentive and fun. We told Marco to give our table away and we decided to eat at the bar we were just having too much fun there with rest of people and the owners MOM and dad Vito and Denise.they had some of there friends there that were just having so much fun singing and dancing eating and drinking ( i thought the friends might have a drinking problem but they said they didn't they just don't get out much ) anyway lets get to the food we started off with a pizza the Bronx bomber absolutely the best. The bartender told us it was made by the other brother they call Smiling Pete and that was the truth we were there for 3 hours and he never stopped smiling. We had baked clams and calamari Fabulous. For dinner I had the Bistecche ala Griglia NY Strip Steak...let me tell you that this steak was the best I ever had in my life! My wife had the Fettuccine ala Bolognese also was the best.for dessert we had Tiramisu and NY Cheese cake you could tell the it was homemade. By the end of the night we new the hole staff and and the whole family now we felt just like family. Compliments to Chef Kenny and chef Marc (Marc)who is also an owner the food was superb. We were also introduced to VJ the oldest of the 3 brothers there Sister Diana (a lovely young lady) It was so good that i told them I want a standing reservation every Saturday night for 4 and if i didn't come i would fill the table.keep up the great work you guys have home run over there in Monroe.
