Food was great, nice atmosphere and service was great. Our waitress name was Sally. Very nice lady, always have passion for many questions we asked.

I have been there several times in the last few years and the food use to be amazing, a five star rating, but the last 3 times I was very disappointed. This use to be my favorite place for fish fry but this night we where very disappointed, the fish and fries where luke warm at best. the next visit was worse, had the roast beef, loaded with fat and grizzil. two weeks ago had the pork chops, way ovef done, tasted like sawdust. I doubt I will ever go back, Oh did I forget to mention that my vehicle had a scratch on the rear fender, the parking is really tight.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to tour Frank Lloyd Wright's Graycliff. The restaurant, with a casual tavern atmosphere, has a lovely view of Lake Erie, although we had to eat inside because it was pouring rain. The service was friendly and fast and the fish fry platter was delicious and huge (my husband and I shared the small size).

My husband and I ate at Rodney's for the first time in a long time tonight. We were very disappointed in our experience. Although, Sally, our waitress was very good, and attentive as she could be, we will never, ever take a table in the "Lounge" near the bar. We were offered a table in the lounge and accepted it. Unbeknownst to us, I would have to move my chair a few times, since ignorant patrons at the bar, were basically sitting on my shoulder, I had more mens butts against me then I would have wanted. Everytime I moved my chair, they just backed up away from the bar and leaned against me. What's wrong with people? I almost turned around and punched a guy in the butt. :) In the future, I feel that the hostess, should mention that the "lounge" area is loud, and never sit anyone near the bar, unless they don't mind people pushing against them, when they are trying to eat. The owner of the restaurant should build a partition, even if only a half wall to keep the bar patrons, away from others that are trying to enjoy dinner. Now, to mention the dinners. My husband and I had the fish dinners. I had the half portion. The fish was cooked to perfection, but I ordered rice as my "potato", and a double order of cole slaw. I got triple cole slaw, and no rice. I'm sure that was a mistake in the kitchen. Sally, offered my husband his choice of potato, and he chose the "french fries." He was very disappointed that he got "steak fries." These are not French Fries, and the waitress should have told him that. We would return, but never again sit in the lounge. The fish fry was delicious. Minus the problem with the "potato" choice.

I've been going to Rodney's on and off for the last 30 years when I visit my folks in Hamburg. I just went back recently and was reminded that they have one of the best fish fry dinners in the area. Just a light coat of batter and a nice, big piece of fresh fish. Many establishments cover up off-flavors in their fish with excessive batter. At Rodney's, the haddock itself is the star of the show, not the batter. Isn't that how it should be? Another plus is that they serve steak fries, not fake fries. In the past I have always enjoyed most of the sandwiches as well. The atmosphere is pure neighborhood pub, but slightly upscale. Not a dive-bar, but a place where the working man or woman still feels welcome.

A favorite place for 15 years, but food has gone downhill badly over the past months. On several recent visits, broiled fish was raw, swordfish was overcooked and dry, and beef on weck was badly well-done and tough, easily the worst I've ever had anywhere in WNY. Took 10 minutes for server to come to our table on a recent Friday (and only after we complained) even though the dinner crowd had thinned out, Then it took 40 minutes for food to come out. Servers are usually great though. The renovation in the bar with hardwood floors makes it very loud and not as comfortable as it was.

Our favorite place to go in Buffalo for a fish fry. It's amazing! Mac salad and steak fries are very tasty sides. We've had many other meals (Buffalo chicken sandwich, chicken cordon Rodney, French onion soup, prime rib) and everything has always been great!

Went to Rodney's last night with my boyfriend for a late night dinner (I was told they were open later than most places during the week). We grabbed two bar seats and ordered food and a few beers. I had the Rosy Sandwich and my boyfriend had the Josie Sandwich, both of which were different types of roast beef sandwiches. They were so delicious. My boyfriend had a side of sweet potato fries and I had to mac salad - also very yummy. The bartender was friendly and chatted with us through our meal. We loved our experience and will be back frequently!

I've been here 4 times and never had a problem. The steamed clams are awesome, fish fry is excellent (salads are very tasty), but my favorite dish is the broiled scallops dinner)! Great location on route 5 and friendly staff! Patio is nice in the summer.

Best Baby Back Ribs Ever! I rarely eat ribs anymore because it's hard to find one's worth ordering! Well...did TAKE OUT from Rodney's today and went for the ribs. They were perfect. The half rack took up my whole plate. They were smothered in thick, sweet, tangy BBQ sauce. The meat SLID right off the bone! There was very little fat at the top. Soooo...5 STARS for sure. Oh yeah, I ordered fries on the side. The fries are the fat steak fries which I usually don't care for, but these ones were cooked through and crispy. I will be back for more!

Rodney's is a great place. Nice ambiance. Excellent food. The service is always very good. It's a smaller restaurant, but the bar has a nice atmosphere if you need to wait a bit for a table.

Solid food and good beer. Huge portion of scallops that was accompanied with rice, salad and good bread. Service was good. A good value for the money. I'd go back again for certain.

I used to,love Rodney's But it certainly isn't what it used to be. The over all quality of the dishes has gone down. Including the service. I was disappointed the last time I was there. I would not go back.

I am baffled at how this place was so packed and so many people were eating fish fries because if they keep coming back for them they must never have had a good fish fry. Tasteless cheap batter, bland fish, and the skin was still on the fish (which is absolutely gross), AND both my wife and I found a (small) bone in the fish, at which point we both were done. Came with cole slaw and mac salad straight from a 5 gallon pail (or so it tastes). I've eaten fish fries at a lot of places and Rodney's is one I will not be eating at again.

  • Merridy K.

Rodney's is one of my favorite places to get fish. Their fried fish is always fresh and yummy, but equally tasty is their haddock au gratin. It's baked and covered with a delicious parmesan crust that makes my knees weak. I don't mind passing on the fried version when this is on the menu. The sides of macaroni salad, coleslaw and potato are tasty and generous. Best of all, you can get fish, and other seafood any day of the week. I promise, you won't be disappointed with your meal at Rodney's.

  • Meghan R.

Good food at a decent price with very, very generous portions. The atmosphere is just okay, and the lack of any view onto the lake was the main reason this so-so restaurant isn't a 4 or 5 star place.

  • Joe O.

This is one of our go to restaurants. We never have a bad meal, the service is always good and they have a very nice patio overlooking the lake. It's far and above the best of the lakeside spots in the Southtowns. Our favorites on the menu are the French Dip, Chicken and Artichoke, Spinach salad and the best wings in the Southtowns. The fish frys are also good. It's a standard menu but everything is done well in a good atmosphere.

  • Kristine B.

Nothing to rave about here. Solid portion sizes, average prices, mediocre food. I ordered the grilled salmon. It was well cooked, but fairly flavorless. Fish fries seemed to be a resident at every table, but I'm not a fish fry kind of girl so I couldn't say if they are worth the visit. However, they did serve the most delicious homemade, melt-in-your-mouth bread to the table. If I were only rating the bread it would be five stars! The service was pleasant and friendly. But I wasn't thrilled when our waitress disappeared for a good half hour and I sucked and crunched on ice cubes in her absence. It's certainly not a destination, but the locals kept it hopping so they must be doing something right.

We just cameback from our dinner. Well the service was terrible. Out server was a young blond girl about 22-24. Robin the barkeep(was the only bright spot in the meal) refilled my beer and my dining partner's pop or we would still be waiting for a new drink. I always get the fish sandwich with a side salad, which was so small, it was ricidulous(the salad). I had to flag her down(our so called server, (which I use that term very loosely) for a tartar sauce and my dining partner ordered a chef salad with NO "Chick Peas" as they are allergic and the salad was brought out with them after my dining partner had eaten a portion of that salad. At first my dining partner did not notice them buried in their salad and when we finally got a hold of our server, she said "I'm sorry"(not believable after rolling her eyes) and they were finally brought the proper requested salad. Hopefully they will not get ill. It will be quite some time before we go back again.......terrible service = terrible tip.........bad, bad ,bad

I have been going to Rodney's for over 20 years and usually would be happy to leave a 5 star review but lately I hate to say the service is going down hill. After taking my mother there tonight for mothers days I was beyond disappointed. Our server (pat... As in Patricia) had maybe 1 other table and took for ever to get drinks, to take our order, etc etc. the French onion soup was cold, and the bus girl spilled butter on my Lap while clearing the table. I love Rodney's but it.s not the place it used to be.

  • Amanda A.

I have been to Rodney's several times because my boyfriend's parents are regulars. It is very casual and they have great outdoor seating. Even though it's across the street from the water, you can still enjoy a sunset from out front on the patio. It definitely isn't "on the water." But, it is close, and that's a perk! They are known for having great seafood, and my BF likes the scallops. They give you a load of sea scallops for a great deal! I am not a scallop person, but I do like their crab legs. I had a chicken sandwich once that I had to return because the consistency of the meat was totally weird and seemed fishy. I was turned off. Other times I have had their chicken-- it was fine. I just appreciate when a restaurant's food is consistent. This restaurant has decent grub and very reasonable prices. However, the interior is nothing special. The service is usually pretty good, but I have had a few bad experiences. Nothing to complain too much about.

I am not one to light up that fifth star easily but my two most recent visit to Rodney's definitely deserved it. I have family in Boston as well as Buffalo and I have eaten "Fish Fry" in both locations but hands down Rodney's rules the true fish fry. The fish itself is done with just the right amount of breading and the filet is end to end on the oval plate that it shares with hot, crispy dinner fries, slaw and macaroni salad. We bypassed the mac salad and slaw and opted for side tossed salads, which were fresh and just enough greenery to offset the guilt of the yummy fried entree. As a testament to how good it was one our first visit, we ate the same thing again three days later. Our servers on both of our visits were friendly, prompt and made us feel at right at home. I live in Florida and people ask me all the time where my favorite seafood restaurant is...sorry Sunshine State but I am going to start sending them to Rodney's in NY!

  • Chere G.

This place is not bad considering it's in Western NY. Nothing different than typical American fare you'd find in Boston. I come here with my Aunt when we are visiting family in Buffalo and the food itself I rather enjoy. Great Fish Fry's (The thing to do for Buffalonians - especially on Good Friday), great salads and sandwiches. My favorite treat is their Onion soup and most recent find is the toll house pie - which tastes like cookie dough and is served hot with the melted chocolate morsels and dollop of whipped cream. I seriously had to wipe a spec (OK a few smudges) of chocolate from my face becaue it was that good! However why I'm writing a review is to make a point to the nasty bartender that a certain word is reserved for but I shudder at the use . She was the most the rudest being alive and makes the most evasive of Bostonians look like a wuss. I don't know for the life of me why she is like that, or why she continues to work there other than the fact she must be related. All I can say is it's too bad - I won $500 on Keno and gave her a $50 tip (No thank you - OK). I asked to order a drink she made me wait over 10 minutes to serve other patrons even though I was there before them. Yeah I'm not the type to give and expect to receive in return, but common courtesy that goes without saying. Apparently this women does not possess an ounce and unfortuantley making the rest of the waitstaff, not to mention the restaurants name look bad. But oh, you know what? You've been Yelped Bitch - yeah that little red card I gave you this is what it's for. Now kiss my ass and Happy New Year. I can only hope you consider to take your nasty behavior and knock it down a few notches. Look forward to seeing you in May when I can give you another one. 3 stars for the other servers as they are all kind, and quality of food because it's very good. Lack of 1/4 star because you make Barcardi and Coke with generic Cola (what kind of restaurant doesn't have at least Pepsi?) and lack of 1 3/4 stars for the rude bartender. Please for the sake of a pleasurable expereince, get a clue (and next time don't eff with me).

I've been to this place twice in the last couple of weeks, and got the fried shrimp. Holy cow, that is some tasty dang shrimp. It's in a whole other category from a place like, say, Red Lobster. It's more like the kind of food you get when you visit Cape Cod. Really tasty and good, check it out. I can't wait to go back.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
