East Bay is the most amazing diner that I have ever been to in my life. The service is quick, the food is fresh, and they have so many healthy, delicious vegetarian options. There prices are low and the entire staff is SOOOOO nice! Management is extremely generous and professional. I've had many of my events (personal and professional) catered by East Bay. All of the guests raved about the food each time. My family and friends love to go there.

It is a seldom that I take my two young girls out alone when my wife is working a night shift. We usually do something nature related and then grab food. My older daughter is VERY picky with food and there only a few places I can take her. Diner's are always a safe bet because they have everything. Being close to Wantagh State park where we just left a nice walk on the water I figured it was quick and easy. First off, the place is swarmed with snotty patrons... AND I mean snotty. It is not a kid friendly diner by any means! THE BATHROOMS are disgusting absolutely disgusting... your better off going in the parking lot by the dumpster for a clean atmosphere. It took almost 10 minutes for a waiter to come to our table and just say hello and bring water. We were ready to order then but he said I will come with water in one minute and said nothing else. Took 5 mins to come back with waters and he took our order. Food was pretty quick for a Saturday at dinner time with roughly a 15 min wait. This was the last time our waiter come to our table. Our waiter looked like he only had about 4 other tables... and we were not paid attention to at all which kind of made me the most pissed off. We finished our food quickly and with two small children I was going to wrap some food. He went to the table about 8 feet from us 5 times while never checking on us even when TRYING to grab his attention. After we finished our food it took almost a half hour for him to come to our table with a CHECK! I had to flag down a water boy who barely knew english to ask him for boxes and to get my check for me. At this point my younger daughter who is 3 and recently potty trained was saying she needed to go to the bathroom for the past 15 mins. If it wasn't for having to wrap my food I would have gotten up and walked out without paying. Luckily the water boy came and gave me my check and my food. I paid then took my daughter to the ABSOLUTELY FILTHY bathroom which I had to clean myself for a minute so she can sit and go. There are 3 times in my life where I left a restaurant without giving no tip... This was one of them. Hands down one of the worst dining experiences I have had in years. Like another review wrote just keep on driving and drive away fast. The fancy decor cannot make up for the HORRIBLE employees who were some of the least friendly people I have seen in a business in a while and no service. Hope they go out of business!

Men. This place has average food at best. Still can't understand why people flock here from its former home in Bellmore, it's really not good. They put down a bowl of poorly prepared wings when you arrive. These are the warning to you for things to come. Tried dinner there twice as well as breakfast twice to give a fair shake since I live within walking distance. Hint: if you're in a car, keep driving. If not, get in one and look elsewhere.

Dine or Ditch? Ditch... the food, the leftovers, the leftovers of the leftovers, the leftovers of the leftovers of the leftovers... This place is the epitomizes the difference between QUANTITY (lots) and QUALITY (none). The ONLY "compliment" I've ever heard about this place is "you get SOOOO much food." However, I've never been able to convince one of the old folks that being able to eat terrible food for three days is not better than eating a good meal. Beyond the lack of good food they also have the most inept "wait staff" (they've earned those quotes) I've ever experienced. I think service can go a long way and this place has managed to get the bottom of the bottom. If any waiter (or anyone) ever hears someone say " well, anyone can wait tables" they should immediately go to this place to prove that person wrong. An immediate apology for their gross misstep in this belief will be the least they get in return. That said, East Bay has managed to make doing everything wrong work for them... kudos. Unfortunately, I've found myself here far more often than I'd like so I'll just sum up some of my "top" stories that I believe summarize what you can expect from East Bay... Once I went and ordered a chicken salad sandwich. In case you've never had one, it's pretty simple, couple slices of bread, lettuce, tomato, chicken salad. Well, mine came with the addition of crusty, old, melted cheese on the plate... like from whatever meal the guy before me who had the plate must have ordered. I was disgusted, but I was with some family and they were eating so I couldn't really leave. So before I call over the waiter I rip a piece of bread to make sure they actually give me a new sandwich and show the waiter my plate. He asks "do you want a new plate?" (like my sandwich touching old food would in no way bother me) to which I reply "no, I want a new sandwich." He goes off and within a few minutes my "new" sandwich has arrived and as I expected, my bread is magically ripped in the exact same place. So I call over the waiter and ask "this is a new sandwich right?" and I get an immediate "yes." and then I show him the rip, the one I made to make sure they didn't just give me a new plate and he just says "well, I could get you a new sandwich." to which I told him to just take it away. Who wants to be lied to over some new bread? Who wouldn't be disgusted by their food being on a dirty plate? Also, thankfully I ordered something that I picked up. I would NOT have enjoyed this yester-meal surprise at the end. Another time I was there with a friend and he wanted some late night food. So we went and I just got a cup of coffee to keep him company. When I finished my first cup I looked for a waiter to refill the cup. I then realized that for the next 20 or so minutes we were the only people on our side. No patrons, no waiters, no bus boys, no managers, NO ONE. The next person we saw, was while my friend was still eating (and he managed to flag the guy down), he went to take away my cup. Like he decided I was done after one cup while my friend was still eating instead of doing the logical thing and ask if I wanted more. When I asked for a refill it still took another 5 or so minutes to get the coffee. For my third (and final) act here, I ordered the Romanian steak (just about the only food I found decent), just like the two other people I came with. It came with soup, salad, and the entree. The waitress managed to bungle this up in such amazing fashion that only a waitress at East Bay could do this unintentionally. After 20 minutes out soups came... well two of them did. The other came 10 minutes and several inquiries later. Finally, the last soup came. Then the salads...30 minutes later. Now, in fairness one of my fellow eaters orders specific things on the salad, but does go over it to make sure it's right. Came out TOTALLY WRONG. Like not even in the ballpark. I couldn't even imagine what happened between the order and the delivery. Finally, it's entree time right? RIGHT??? Haha, you've never experienced East Bay. Well after about 45 minutes and several more inquiries I find out from the waitress "the kitchen made the wrong steak" for just me and she informed me I shouldn't blame her. Well, that's fair. The kitchen makes the wrong steak it's not her fault... until she brings out the check showing us she put in the WRONG STEAK!!! She lied right to my face, made a mistake and wasn't even smart enough to cover her tracks, offered us nothing in return for this crazy 2-1/2 hour dinner, and then...THEN charges us $2 to make up for the putting in of the wrong steak (to account for the price of my steak) which I think made it a nickel higher than the ACTUAL COST OF THE MEAL. So I paid more for her mistake (yes, I know it's a nickel, but its the principle). To say the least, I was not happy. Every time I was asked about my experience and each time when I said "terrible" the manager couldn't care less. I hope to never return.

The food was good, however this diner is run by thieving liars. We went for dinner the bill was 35.10 we paid 41 dollars expecting to get 5 .90 back instead what I can only assume was the owner handed me back only .90. When I asked politely for the rest of my money he rudely, nastily and loudly insisted we gave him $36.00 and refused to give us our correct change. Very interesting considering my husband only had 20s in his wallet. Now I understand that mistakes happen but we know how much money we gave him. We will NEVER come back, and unless you plan on paying with a credit card or have exact change I'd suggest going ANYWHERE ELSE, unless you can afford to have them steal from you!

We pulled into the parking lot and there were only 4 parking spots left. We thought we would have a long wait but it is big inside and just as the hostess said..there was only a 10 minute wait. we ordered the prime rib steak dinner. So reasonably priced at $21.00 which included soup, salad, prime rib (a real prime rib..not a roast beef ), 2 veggies and dessert. Everything was so fresh and tasted awesome. The cheesecake I had was a real cheesecake not like a mousse type I have had at other diners. The portions were huge..had to take a lot home for another meal. Definitely going back to try their other entrees. oh and they give you chicken legs and bread before dinner!!!

Visit Date: December 26, 2014 Came here for lunch with my friend and her nephew. I was trying to be healthy so I ordered the portobello mushroom wrap in a whole wheat tortilla and I let my friend take home the fries when she wrapped up extra food that her and her nephew didn't eat. The service was quick and friendly at this diner, the food seemed very fresh and the atmosphere was interestingly aquatic. In this diner you will find waterfalls encased in glass and digital aquariums. The food was very good, my wrap was moist, delicious and had a perfect amount of equal ratio ingredients inside. My only gripe was that the food was way too hot when it came out and I couldn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked to because it was piping hot. I wouldn't have liked it to be cold obviously but it would have been good if it were a little cooler when it came out of the kitchen. Besides the piping hot food I would say this diner is a good, clean place to have some grub.

Traditional diner food with very friendly staff. I really like the interior too. And coming from Manhattan the prices are super cheap they even have eggs benedict on weekdays

The food was decent, and the service was ok. While the place was hopping, I felt the service could have been better. We had a party of 5, and had breakfast and lunch foods. It seemed that the lunch sandwiches were better then the breakfast.

I am convinced that the East Bay Diner has a top secret 3D printer in their kitchen that can materialize just about anything in an over-sized portion. We didn't set out for the diner but after trying a few other spots that were closed for Memorial Day, an exercise in retro roadside Americana was in order. From a purely financial perspective, my $15 veal parmigiana was large enough for three future servings. (And could have been shared in one serving by four people) My wife and I were clearly the age outliers on this Monday. The place was jam packed with the silver haired set and I don't object: it was like being at a Denny's in Florida. The interior has a wall of awards and honors for the owner, adding to the feel that this is a place that is truly part of the community. (As opposed to a fly by night hipster pop up carpet bagging the latest trend and disappearing back to Middle America when demand drops). East Bay Diner certainly has roots and a popular following. The walls have flat screen images of fish bowls. There are plenty of mirrors and jelly fish like lamps adding to the nautical decor. The book that is otherwise known as a menu had just about anything you can imagine in the broad spectrum of American/Continental cuisine. You won't find avant garde pushing of the envelope here and that is fine. Sometimes you just want a tremendous helping of veal parm. I was nearly full on the chicken soup and salad that each entree comes with. A surprise touch was the delivery of a plate of chicken wings to add into the soup if there wasn't enough meat. Our waiter was all business and did not feel compelled to tell us his life story. There was a directness that was refreshing and distance that harkens back to an earlier era. My veal parm was truly mammoth, covered with cheese and tomato sauce with a bed of spaghetti hidden beneath. I plunged the fork into my mouth, paused and realized that this diner's culinary output was actually quite tasty. I could only take so many forkfuls, however, before becoming full and having the rest wrapped up to go. My wife's entree came with dessert included so we shared a slice of apple pie. Once again, the union of large portion and good taste occurred. When returning from Jones Beach in the future, East Bay Diner will certainly be a place to revisit.

We came here for dinner last Sunday, a group of 12 and arrived early enough to get a table before the dinner rush. Our waiter was great. The portions were substantial and food was great. They key us take desserts home. We love this diner for the value the service and great food.

Look, even though i'm not a fan of the place, it's just so damn convenient... Pending what you order, the food is either, fine diner food, or what the heck was that?.. Normally I write these long intricate reviews, but it's a long island diner. There are more then there are gas stations on the island. If you just don't know where to go, find another diner unless you're right nearby. And if you are, walk across the street to the much more delicious Tennessee Jeds.

I am from San Francisco, California and ate there recently although I was born and raised on L.I. They start you off on chicken appetizers, which were fun. We asked for no butter on any of the food and the restaurant complied happily. My wife and I shared a fish which was excellent as we're the vegetables. I gave in to cheese cake for dessert. It was one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had anywhere! The portions are enormous and the service is excellent! Also the prices are amazingly low. When I was paying the bill I mentioned how good the cheesecake was. They had me pick another big cheesecake slice and gave it to me free. If there is not enough food, they have cookies to sample. So you have good, tasty food, excellent friendly, service, enormous portions at a very, reasonable price.

I've always been pleased with breakfast at the East Bay Diner. Exactly what you'd expect from a diner that knows what it's doing. Dinners have always been delicious -whether we eat in or I stop by for takeout. Huge "diner" portions. Great sides and desserts. I love the brook trout almandine and other seafood dishes (I don't eat meat). Servers can sometimes be a little surly but overall the food is good quality, large portions, nice bread basket, cole slaw, etc.

  • Rich M.

I am shocked at the bad reviews, because I have never had a bad experience at East Bay. I have found the food always good and, yes, they give you so much. The prices are also very fair. The people I go with have been going for years and years, so they have to be doing something right. Also, the parking lot is always filled, so they have to be doing something right. For me, the staff is always adequate and friendly. Try it for yourself.

I only had the corned beef hash and eggs , however I must say that the food was excellent. Hash browns were abundant and perfectly seasoned , crispy and chopped . The decor is a phantasmic fantasy of " under the sea " finding NEMO delight ! I half expected FLIPPER to bring the check . Our waitress was delightful , in his stead . Try it , especially if you have young ones . Thanks :)

The owner, imported hag who seats you, and wait staff are as tacky and brash as the over the top Little Mermaid / Pimps Nightmare décor. I can't believe this place survives. Maybe it's the abundance of geriatric patrons who seem to be drawn to this tasteless shrine to bad taste and worse tastings. The minute you're seated and Igor appears and swaths your hand delivered appetizer plate with a filthy damp dishtowel then drops a small platter of mealy grey onion scented chicken wings on your table. What ever happened to slaw & pickles, which you now have to ask for? The left dining room is staffed by ex-strippers who passed their prime in the 60's. Opt for the right side and you'll witness a compliment of carnival mutants and pinheads. The food is below average diner fare in abundance. The prices have been on the rise since opening after they moved from Bellmore a few years back. Skip this sideshow and head up to the Sunrise Diner a mile away.

I don't even know where to start. Came here for Mothers Day early dinner because family wanted breakfast for dinner! Extremely crowded - as soon as we were seated we were brought over some barely cooked, slimy chicken wings - had to ask 4 times for someone to take them away as we were interested in BREAKFAST food for dinner - waiter was profusely sweating - which made the thought of eating the food nauseating - service was terrible - food was mediocre at best - bacon undercooked - eggs runny - waffles burned - probably worst diner I have ever been to - no clue why this Place is packed all the time - will never go back - disgusting!

Typical diner food, nothing special. Very large portions but very pricey for a diner. The place is always packed and people seem to enjoy it here.

Okay, so I might have overdone it with my previous review. I think it was because our waitress was a ray of sunshine. Felt another late night binge come on and I came back, and I was seriously disappointed. I just took bites of what my sisters ordered, pancakes (bland and soggy, like they made them earlier and attempted to heat them through) and a burger. So overcooked, but honestly, our horrible waitress didn't even bother asking how they wanted it cooked. Huge pet peeve of mine. Any red meat that is ordered, it is appropriate and necessary to ask they preferred temperature. Everything sucked. And the bill was pretty high too, which I don't really understand. Our waitress was sitting at another table reading a newspaper, and the diner was full at the time, so I thought that was odd, also she seemed bothered when we asked for things. Not great.

Had dinner there the other night, the diner has definitely gone down hill. The salad was dry and wilted. The dressing was tasteless and watered down. My fish was not bad, everything else was tasteless down to the black and white cookie I took home. Our waiter David is always a pleasure. Would not recommend this diner for dinner. While the portions are abundant, I'd rather have smaller but tastier portions.

Best diner on LI! I have been going to the East Bay Diner ever since I was a little kid and I enjoy the newer location even more, with it's slightly- trippy sea decor. When I go, I sometimes order a 3-course dinner that comes with a huge portion of food, most of which I end up either sharing with someone else, or bringing home. Easy Bay is definitely known for having fresh, delicious fish. Omelettes are also great. Easy bay has excellent, friendly service and a huge menu, it's a great place to enjoy quality time with friends, I never feel rushed out. Watch out for the women's bathroom though, it can be quite a mess usually.

  • Madi A.

Food was fine but I was with a party of 8 and when they made us separate the checks (which we did correctly), I ended up having to pay $36 for pancakes. The employee was extremely rude and did not care about the obvious wrong check that had been administered to us. She was extremely nasty to us.

  • Lauren J.

I had the second worst omelette of my life at this diner. And the worst was in India and gave me food poisoning, so for me to think an omelette is bad you can be sure that for real, it was bad. Everywhere I go I order the same thing - egg beaters with American cheese, broccoli and mushrooms. The thing that was put in front of me was a both overcooked on the outside and strangely watery on the inside. This was the case for the other omelettes at our table as well. Gross. The many positive experiences I had at the old location during my teen years prevented me from writing a review until now - I felt bad to give a negative review to the place I had loved for so many years. But c'mon. Its an omelette. How hard is that to make? Go to the Lighthouse Diner instead.

This has to be the nicest diner around. It has an ocean decor to it with porthole fish tank windows and pretty lights which sets it apart from other diners. The value here is amazing. I mostly order fish here and its very delicious and can definitely be shared by two people or you can take half of it home and easily get another meal out of it. Most of their fish specials come with a salad, soup, potato, vegetable, and dessert. I recommend the manhattan clam chowder its quite tasty. The service is very friendly here and they will go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. We live about 30 minutes away and still choose to take the drive out here over our local diners.

Don't know what happened. We usually go for the ambiance, its beautiful, but the food has gone south. I ordered eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was a yellow paste. Plus the waitress on Saturday morning July 5th acted like she was bothered by us being there. Which is surprising because when we go for lunch the waitress is fantastic. Sorry see you next year.

this is the worst diner on long island. I will never understand the hordes of people waiting outside,,,but then again Long Islanders are sheep. The food is god awful and the service is surly at best. Not one smile among the whole rude bunch. I ordered a burger delux,,,came out terrible,,smelled rotten. i tried to get the nasty witch waitress attention but she snapped at me,,,im busy wait a minute so i got up and left. they can take it deep.

My family and I always go to this diner and we are NEVER unsatisfied. As far as I am concerned this is one of the absolute best diners in the world. I am shocked and confused about some of the negative posts I have been reading because this has never been my experience in the dozens of times I have been here over the last 5 years. The decor is beautiful. The staff is excellent and most of the waitstaff are veterans. The food never disappoints. The seafood dishes are excellent. Prices are not low, but portions are huge and most meals can be shared by 2 people without issue. To those complaining about the chicken Marsala wings delivered at the beginning of every meal to every table on the house....yes they are unconventional, but they are free. If you don't like them, don't eat them. It's that simple. Most diners give nothing for free, so I consider them a bonus. East Bay is a class act and I can never justify going to any of the other local diners because it's just that good.

  • Shawn N.

There were 15 empty tables in front of us, yet we had to wait over 5 minutes to be seated. As we were being seated, leftover random chicken pieces were left on our table. They looked half eaten. That's a very weird choice to serve. Maybe bread would be better, which we did finally get. Two of our side dishes were screwed up - and they had to take back the whole plate, which makes me think they are re-serving the side dishes that were mistakingly given to us. We had to chase down the waiter to get the kid meal desserts, and when we asked for the check, he gave us one for the wrong table. And the parking lot is a NIGHTMARE. DO. NOT. GO. HERE. There are MUCH BETTER diners on Long Island. I would give ZERO stars if YELP let me!

I recently found myself back at East Bay for another try. I have to say, not the biggest fan of their dinner items. But I do enjoy their breakfast. I am such a breakfast for dinner foodie. It's just one of my favorite meals of the day. Our waitress was very nice and was patient since this dinner I was catching up with a friend. I ordered an egg white veggie omelette with American cheese, whole wheat toast and hash browns. My friend got a grilled chicken avocado wrap with waffle fries. I can't vouch for her personally but it looked good. We got a big bread basket and cole slaw with pickles. (Random, I know.) As for my meal, it was pretty good. It was chock full of vegetables and the hash brows were extra crispy. One thing I didn't like was that originally she said if I wanted a different cheese she was going to have to charge me an additional $2....seriously? To switch the cheese? I mean omelettes are made to order anyway. Luckily, being that she was nice she said that she would try to do it with no additional charge. But I mean come on, that's a bit excessive. And like all diners, but especially this one... those portions are HUGEEEEE. I mean I get full after eating half of my meal. With the amount of food you get, you'll surely be going home with leftovers. Conveniently close, okay food. Will stick to my breakfast for dinner here.

How hard is it to make diner food. I couldn't believe how bad the food tasted. I have this place two tries because the renovation was nice and close to home. Both times I left disappointed.

A typical convenient, neighborhood diner. East Bay opens early, closes late, has a very large menu with all of the American diner favorites, and consistently serves fair food. It is centrally located on the south shore and has a big private lot which simplifies parking,

East Bay Diner! What have you done? I've always thought of this place as DECENT-- not quite worth the inflated menu prices but inoffensive overall. For me, the location and decor made it a fun spot for a late dinner with friends. But last night! Oh my. Truly unfortunate. First of all, the "Cheesesteak Panini" I ordered resembled neither a cheesesteak nor a panini. It was more of a roast beef sandwich on some sort of pita bread, with an au jus taste to it. Generous amount of meat, but the sandwich was a messy ordeal with no coherence to it all. Aside from being difficult to eat I simply didn't care for the taste, and - in a truly rare move for me - didn't even finish half my meal. The second, far more significant problem was with the service. The issues were minor at first - the server forgot to bring the French dressing with my girlfriend's Cobb Salad, after a very specific conversation about which type of French dressing came with the meal. Okay, no biggie, this sort of thing happens all the time. When we lifted the Cobb Salad bowl, we saw that the plate it was served on was dirty, greasy, and covered with what looked like bits of hamburger, complete with the receipt from someone else's meal. We pointed out this mess to our server and explained that we didn't want to continue eating. Instead of an apology, we got a lecture about third-world countries, the abundance of America, and how wrong it would be for us to waste this food. She refused to take the salad off the bill, and basically implied that we were being petty freeloaders in asking her to do so. A talk with the manager finally got the offending salad removed from the bill. Meanwhile, my other friend had been charged for an order of fries that never arrived at the table. The manager simply gave him cash to put towards our bill, rather than re-running the whole receipt. This part was more amusing than frustrating, but it was a fittingly unprofessional end to a thoroughly disappointing dinner. There is no more reason to excuse the questionable prices here - I will steer clear of the East Bay Diner from now on!

Would go there quite often for take out service. Decent food for the most part. Last order we placed I was kept on hold 5 minutes. Hung up. Called again 5 minutes later. same woman answered and said hold on. I said you had me on hold for 5 minutes. No apology she just said "fine what do you want?" I gave her my order. Picked it up and got home. My sons order is missing. I call them up and tell them she says you can come pick it up or next time you order just tell us we owe you something. I said no that never works. I paid for it so ill come get it please keep it warm. So I get there and she says "oh here's what happened. I wrote it down and he" (I don't know who she was referring to) didn't type it in the computer". So you didn't pay for it. I said why didn't you tell me that on the phone I wouldn't have driven back from 3 towns away?!? I pick up the bag to leave and she says "wait you have to pay for that". I said are you kidding me!!! You made me drive back here, the food I have at home already will have to reheated to eat. Stupid me actually paid for it, because I figured they had my credit card number from the first transaction and would just charge it. I then said listen we probably spend several hundred dollars a year eating from here. I will never come back again. She says "fine don't come back" WTF? Never, ever go to this place!!!!!!

uhm, diner food just tastes better when you're intoxicated, unfortunately i was totally sober this time around. i think the only plus here is the baked chicken wings you get as a free appetizer. who does that?!? well maybe another plus is the "so bad that it's good" interior design of the place. okay then, two good things equals two good stars.

First of all, the decor is the bee's knees. It's exactly what you want from a Long Island diner. Huge neon displays shout your name from halfway up the road. They have chandeliers over every table that are IN THE SHAPE OF JELLYFISH. Unbelievably cool. But that really is where the awesome ends. Everyone in Seaford has been saying this is THE diner to go to and I think this may be evidence that the people of Seaford need their heads checked. When I first try out a diner, I stick with some safe basics that no diner should screw up. Ever. So here's what was on our table: matzoh ball soup, french fries with mozzarella and gravy, grilled cheese, vanilla milkshake, soda. Now. Not one of these dishes poisoned us or made us physically ill. But it was a quiet night and our cheese was congealed, our gravy was so gloppy it looked like it was mostly made of gelatin. and the vanilla shake had an inappropriate aftertaste. Matzoh ball soup actually okay. Our waiter finally deigned to ask us how our meal was after we attempted to catch his eye for a check twice. Then he came back to ask us if we wanted any of our food to go without bringing us our check. I'm glad the whole bill was under $20 for two people but I won't be going back until I hear there's a new chef.

There are a lot of crap diners on long island. This is not one of them. The shrimp souvlaki, Greek combo, and the portobello wrap are all phenomenal. The decorations are so ridiculous and awesome; the jellyfish lights are the cutest.

A cheap, open late diner on Long Island's South Shore. Food was the usual diner fare, but done well and at reasonable prices.

This is definitely going to be my go-to diner from now on! Reasons why: - Along with complimentary bread, you get complimentary chicken wings! - Even on an extremely crowded night, we received full attention from the staff. - We made several modifications to our order and everything arrived at the table as we requested. - The portions are huge (even for a diner). - The food is delicious.

For a diner I can say I enjoy the food very much. Prices are where they should be. Ive been to plenty of diners and this one is on of my favs. The service is typical for a diner but the food is good. Bison burger is awesome.

This diner is A- ok. They let you eat your food and talk to friends without having their servers constantly trying to grab your plate. The menu is full of options to choose from providing ample choices for those with dietary restricts and carnivores alike. I would definitely recommend the vegetarian wrap and the seafood diablo as they were favorites of the table. Also, if you love marine life, the ambience is spectacular. It has a beautiful fish themed decor. The two drawbacks were that the home fries weren't great and the parking lot was packed out.

This place has one thing going for it - atmosphere! Hands down this is the nicest diner on Long Island both outside with it's water feature and landscaping and inside with it's ocean theme - you really feel like you're walking into something special. Unfortunately that's where the compliments end. I have given this place a try three times and all were strikes - sorry but now they're OUT! Poor service and poor quality food - and every time it was weird because they would get most of our orders right but then totally mess up others and show no concern for making things correct. The service here is really bad, the staff act like they don't care if you're satisfied or not with your food. Given the location and the appearance they will probably be able to survive just fine by attracting new customers because they don't seem concerned with keeping old ones. I'd rather enjoy one of the many smaller LI diners where the staff cares about making sure you'll come back again and again and the focus is on the food not the atmosphere.

Ahhh the precious enclave known as East Bay to the locals. Meant to describe the surrounding waterway, but also, so much more. The east Bay is a treat in the neighborhood. The food is very consistent as far as a diner is concerned. Their pancakes are standard and generous. At supper time, patrons are given a plate of grandma's chicken wings to nibble on. They aren't buffalo wings, so don't get excited. They are fun just the same and just as long on tradition. The decor capitalizes on the nautical name in ways I would never have thought of. My favorite is the jellyfish inspired light pendants that sway over the booths. Not to be matched by the 'Under the Sea' motif. Easily the best Diner in these parts, hands down. Even their sister Diner in Bellmore can't hold a candle, I mean starfish to this locale.

The outside decor of this diner looks inviting but my experience changed drastically upon entering the diner. I waited a long time to be served despite the fact that there were waiters standing around doing nothing. We were finally served by a waiter who looked like he would have preferred to have root canal. My panini was a sloppy, unappetizing mess. The french fries were tasty and I wound up eating those and leaving the panini. All in all, it was an unsatisfying experience!

This place is great! I've been going there since it has opened and they make a great hamburger, the chili and sea bass is fresh and the price is exceptional. the portions are nice and the decor is beach themed. Very nice staff and pleasant. The place is huge and there is always seating.

Probably the only diner I'd go to on the island. Huge quantities of food. I tried my moms roast beef, dad's turkey and my rigatoni a la vodka with portobello mushrooms and chicken.. Roast beef had great flavor, turkey was juicy and not bland. Wasn't crazy about the stuffing. I first didn't like the marinara sauce they exchanged it and put vodka sauce. Great service and always accommodating.

Terrible food, ridiculous prices. Here's what really pissed me off. They have a kids menu. If you're a parent and you're out to eat with your kids you appreciate a kids menu. It should be a smaller portion of something that kids generally like to eat. It should also be at a generally lower price. After all, its a smaller portion and the restaurant is making a good chunk of change on what mom and dad eat so cut a guy a break, right? Well we ordered a hot dog with fries off the kids menu for my daughter, $10. A bit steep for a kids portion of fries and a hot dog I think. But the worst part is that it wasn't a hotdog. It was thicker, like a knockwurst. And it didn't taste right. Also, guess what? You're 10 bucks doesn't even get you a proper hot dog bun. They took 2 hamburger buns, and toasted them and threw the mystery sausage on that. Kids are picky, it;s just a fact. And for east bay to try to get away with this and over charge you to boot is just shameful. ANd for those of you who are so impressed with the decor, the wall of water is leaking all over the floor and the fix thay have for it is to put big clumps of paper towels all around it. Classy!

I tend to agree with the previous review. The outside of this diner has a very inviting feel to it and once you walk in - you'll be amazed by the lavish decor. I immediately was drawn to a beautiful free falling waterfall at the entry of the diner. As I examined further there was a large plasma TV hanging on the wall and an aquarium like a digital picture frame (with the computerized fish swimming). All signs led me to believe this would be an awesome dining experience. Once we were seated a gentlemen in a suit presented us with a plate of wings and bread. Now I know most diners don't give you anything, but after seeing the shape of this cuisine, I'd almost prefer that. The chicken looked like something out of a Griswauld's bbq (real tomato ketchup Eddie?). There was nothing appetizing about it at at all. It was the homemade Perdue Chicken all yellowy dumped on a plate. Perhaps if you got this at a friend's house you'd eat it to be polite, but nowhere else. The bread, was nothing special either. For my meal, I decided to go simple...a bacon burger. The burger came back with no bacon. the bun had a thumb print in it as well. That's not a big deal to me- but to some of you it might be. It was decent, but I'd rather have went to Wendy's. To me the look of the restaurant is inconsistent with the quality of the food. I know it's just a diner and I can't expect much, but I've had delicious diner food before. This 1 ranks very low on my list.

Diner with excellent decor. As previously reviewed, this place does indeed have a gorgeous look to it - whoever did the design work really let it all hang out - it is really a gorgeous place from the outside to the smallest details inside. The food itself was fine - nothing better or worse than you get anywhere else. Prices seemed average overall- Service was very good but then again we hit it at night when it seemed rather quiet. Overall it was very good- the place almost screams for you to stop as you are driving by with all of its magnificent neon signage. Big parking lot around the perimeter.

We started with unappetizing chicken wings. They were unappetizing because of the sauce they use, a very distasteful smell, at least in my opinion. We next graduated to the coleslaw. Bad bad coleslaw. I mean just no taste. My wife said it was because they didn't use that much mayo (maybe their really cheap?); regardless it was bad. I was quickly not enjoying myself.... I ordered a pork souvlaki dish. WHAT A MISTAKE! Have you ever had bad souvlaki at a diner (that's Greek owned)??? It was just plain tasteless. Same crappy sauce. Even the Tzatziki sauce had no taste. The greek salad was worthless. And the french fries, well what do you think? I want to know how can you destroy Tzatziki??? I mean, it's just plain yogurt sauce. They probably diluted it to save money.... The best part of the meal - the mints you get when checking out (at least they were bought commercially). BTW, check-out didn't go smoothly either. So $30 later, I'm still hungry! I will not be back and neither should you. Otherwise a very pretty interior.

The food - which is your typical standard diner fare - is great. But you're seriously not going to care about the food as much as you'll be finding yourself looking around at the decor the entire time you dine there. It looks like you are on a cruise ship. Or at a live showing of The Little Mermaid on Crack. It's a *wee* bit over the top. Take special note of the digital picture frame aquariums that adorn many of the booths - looks like the Windows Aquarium screen saver! But without the error messages. Score!

Looks very nice from the outside. That's all this place has going for it. It was a Monday night around 7:45pm and it was packed so I thought it was going to be good. They brought out complimentary bread and chicken wings. A nice gesture except the wings looked like they had just been hacked off the chicken before I walked in. Immediately my skin became the same consistency of the skin on those wings, all pale and full of goosebumps and hair. I figured I'd get what I always get at a diner which is the beef gyro deluxe. What I got was a plate of slop. Well it was a bed of Greek salad (with celery, yuck) with a bed of fries on top of that with the gyro on top of the fries. I like to eat the salad first so I had to put the gyro on another plate, then push the fries to the side. Unfortunately it was hard to keep the ketchup off the salad. And the sauce for the gyro tasted like chlorine. I'm not sure why the place was so busy, I can only assume its full of cheapskates who only order soda and dine on the complimentary chicken(?) wings and bread.

Ocean themed Vegas! Thats what it looks like outside & inside, from the bright lights to the jellyfish type lamps inside... My friends moved down the block and were excited to take us to this diner. Unlike the other reviews, I have to say the food was pretty good! Burgers were great, fries yum large portions average prices. Food came out in a timely manner, and the waiter gave fast refills on drinks. Id definitely come back again!

We've been to this diner twice after doing mascot gigs in Jones Beach. I'm not sure why we do that other than because it's near the Wantagh Parkway. The decor is a nice ocean theme but you're definitely paying for it because the so-so food is rather expensive. I had the bison burger deluxe, which oddly enough is cheaper than the deluxe beefburger. However, the "deluxe" is only the standard burger with the addition of fries, lettuce, tomato, and 2 onion rings. Nothing else. The diner provided complimentary pickles and coleslaw.

I had eaten at this diner 2x (and was fine with it, had bfast and lunch in those 2x and was fine even with their generous portions) before the 3rd one finally said stick a fork in em. The atmosphere is indeed very inviting. Not your typical look of a diner with the dim lights and what have you. But on one Friday morning, a few of us decided to go over after we went to Jones Beach to commemorate the anniversary of my grandfather's passing. A few of us ordered pancakes and what have you. Okay. About my 2nd pancake I started to realize that something wasn't tasting right. I thought maybe it was the type of syrup I had put on them. My 2nd one didn't have as much. I asked my cousin, who also had pancakes if his pancakes tasted weird. He concurred. Then my grandmother tasted them and realized it too. They were without a doubt, sour. So we called to the waitress. The waitress said she could give us something else at the same price. We didn't want anything since we were already kinda knocking on full. She got the manager. The manager could not have been more insensitive. She talked condescendingly to my cousin (well why did you eat a whole pancake?), denied that they could have been sour, that she'd served pancakes all morning and no one complained. What a [female dog]. Believe me, I completely understand where these reviews are coming from. Don't think I'll be heading there for a while.

great local diner, head & shoulders above the others in the area...if standard diner fare is what you're after, look no further - great burgers, outstanding fries, terrific breakfasts & more...a little expensive, but easily made up for by the nice atmosphere, huge portions & great quality of food you get here

I confess to having a soft spot for the East Bay - the first date with my darling dearest was here. That said, it's a pretty good eatery anyway. And yes, the decor is...fancy. Very nautical, for sure. Very...blue. The gratis bread is tasty - nice crust, soft inside. The gratis chicken wings look...eh. I'm not a huge wing fan, so I haven't partaken. These look limp & a bit greasy, though. As for the menu: I've never been dissatisfied. Cheese/hamburgers are juicy, breakfast sandwiches filling, panini nicely grilled & well-filled. Fries're crisp, yet yielding. Sodas are sodas wherever you go. And they sell boxes of cookies! Bakery-style Italian cookies, I mean. My mother loves them, & I think they're pretty good as well. I do have a caveat: If you go anywhere near a mealtime, the parking lot is packed. With a capital "P". With lunatic drivers. And no non-street parking nearby. Good luck!

I've been coming here for years. For the most part the food is pretty good but it is better some days than others (that is probably why the reviews for East Bay are so mixed - some days they just seem to be better than others). The service is also usually pretty good. They are a little bit more expensive than other diners on LI but you get a massive amount of food so it balances out. Just a quick warning - they are very crowded between 5 PM -9 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. If you go on those days at those times (especially 6 PM -8 PM), be prepared to wait for at least 15-20 minutes.

I went to East Bay with my aunt and her significant other yesterday. It was a Sunday at about 5 PM. It was busy but when we were leaving about 6:30 or so it was very crowded. The ambience here is just terrific. Beautiful Diner with a nautical theme. The tables are spaced apart nicely, its a bright, cheerful place and the service is very friendly. The portions were huge, the prices were reasonable but alas the food was just average. To start, they put a small plate of chicken wings on each table. As one of the previous raters mentioned they aren't very good. They're very fatty and the skin just doesn't seem cooked. I'd advise them to try some other complimentary item, a cheese bread or something? I had the Broiled Triple Crown special which consisted of a piece of flounder, scrod, and salmon. The flounder wasn't bad, the salmon was just average and the scrod was not great. The fish was a tad over-seasoned for my taste as well. I won't hold that agaInst them because some may find this tasty. My aunt ordered a Chilean Sea Bass which she shared with her significant other. Huge portion but it wasn't very tender, the top was crusty. We're guessing that its cooked quickly and at a very high temperature so as to quickly accommodate the burgeoning crowd. My dinner came with two unremarkable side dishes, a very mushy Baked Sweet Potato and a few big pieces of Broccoli. Their bread is sort of like a challah bread but not very fresh and not very tasty. I may be over-doing it here because the food was not bad it was just unremarkable. Everyone here is very friendly from the hostess to the young lady at the register to the rest of the staff. Its a place I want to like. I think I'll try it again some day and if their food improves it would be my pleasure to rate this place four or five stars

Dennis is the owner and the staff is usually pretty good. Great value and the portions used to be better. May have down a notch. Chicken is put on the table along with bread. Variety is nice. When leaving, cake and cookies are on the counter.

The most magnificent diner I have ever seen. Rock and flower gardens, a gigantic plastic wave when you enter the parking lot and pretty blue water waves throughout the restaurant - in the walls, on the ceiling, in the bathrooms... The design is nearly a work of art. Before you rev your engines and your minds, let's get to the food. I was a big fan of the East Bay Diner of old, the Bellmore location of the same owners. Something's changed here. Nothing's been especially delicious. The prices are the highest of any diner I have ever been to. My parents love this place, but that might be because they are getting comfortable in their 60's. I don't get it, once people get old, are they suddenly not attuned to flavor anymore? Why do they get set in their ways going to sub-pasta diners? They are wooed especially by the big portions there - they usually share one dinner and have enough for a couple of meals during the week. One caveat: the place gets packed, the lines are like the outside a Benny Goodman concert. In my experiences, the food has been bland, prices have been too high, the service didn't care, but the decor is kinda cool. 2 stars.

We just had a great meal at the East Bay diner. I read the bad reviews, but I just had to go in and check out the surreal decoration of this place. It is over the top and really does add to the late-night drunken diner experience! I had the jumbo shrimp souvlaki which was delicious. It was not like any souvlaki I have ever had before. There were heaps of yummy sauteed veggies on top, with well seasoned jumbo shrimp all resting on a grilled pita. I thought the tzasiki (sp?) sauce was tasty, but honestly my dish didn't even need it. The waffle fries and the greek salad were equally tasty (though the Greek salad came with some random and most definitely not Greek ingredients, it was still tasty) My friend got a sauteed veggie platter which was also very tasty. It came with a baked whole sweet potato which was pure deliciousness! Service was efficient and friendly, especially for a diner. Definitely will be back!

Our family used to go to the "old" East Bay before it relocated to Seaford, and we were never disappointed then. I took my mother there yesterday because my 7 year old son went a month ago with his Dad and loved the steak so much he's been talking about it every since. He had the steak again, and devoured it. We each had a fish dish (trout almondine and Chilean sea bass, respectively) and were both totally wowed by the preparation and taste of the entrees, as well as the sauteed spinach and broccoli that came with. We were given huge portions and every bite was delicious. Yes, the soup offerings were weak, but this is a diner, so to be expected. We are definitely coming back for more deliciousness. And no, the chicken wings were not brought to our table... only a bread basket!!

As diners go, this is a pretty good one. And as diner decor goes, it doesn't get much prettier than this. The "under the sea" theme is really beautiful, and I especially love the jellyfish light fixtures. The food here, like any diner, is hit or miss. And try to avoid going during any daylight hours where there's a special offer to avoid the huge droves of senior citizens that will pack this place to the brim. As odd as it sounds for a diner, there will be a wait time on these types of days. The curly friends here are a must and they also make a great milkshake. Everything else I've had has been decent and affordable. However, a year or two ago they started giving "complimentary appetizers" while you wait for your food ot come out. Now usually this is a good thing, but in this case it's slimy bad tasting rotisserie chicken, which actually diminishes my appetite just from looking at it. You also get bread which is fine. This chicken though convinced us to take a hiatus from the East Bay Diner for quite a while. But all in all minus the slimy chicken (if they still do that) it's a pretty nice diner to grab a quick bite.

I have been to this diner many, many times. They do have a wonderful atmosphere, they spent a lot of money on this place and it shows. Last week we 5 went over there for dinner; my wife ordered the Fisherman's platter that had 1/2 a stuffed lobster on it. The lobster smelled quite strongly of ammonia. We alerted the waitress who showed it to the manager, the short man with the facial hair. He never made eye contact with us, and walked away, and she came back and told us that what we were smelling was the iodine that his vendor puts in the tanks to hold the live lobster and that the lobster was fine to eat. We asked that he come over. He had no interest in us and he offered no apology. He treated us as if we were there trying to get a free meal from him. We left immediately and spent the rest of the day worried if my wife would get sick or not, as she had eaten the topping of the lobster. She did not. And she reminded me of another time when the kids menu fish fillet tasted 'not so fresh'. I was not only disappointed but frankly as a Greek I was embarrassed by this man. I spoke to him in Greek so as not to cause any scene, but still he would not admit to any wrongdoing. Look up 'lobster' and 'ammonia' to see how dangerous this could have been.

This place is great. I've never been to such a lavishly decorated diner. I agree with the previous review, it does seem a little bit over the top. I usually grab a burger and wings from here, it's right on par with the previous east bay diner in Bellmore but the prices are a tad bit more expensive. I guess its the price you pay for jellyfish light fixtures and digital aquariums...

Gotta wonder why Guy Fieri hasn't shot here yet. Pretty much the sine qua non of diners. If you order a full dinner here and manage to make it through the chicken fricasee, the bread basket, the soup and the salad, and STILL have enough courage to tackle the entree and dessert, then you should seriously consider a career in competitive eating. The sheer volume of food that arrives at your table mandates that you're gonna be bringing home enough leftovers for tomorrow's lunch and probably tomorrow's dinner, too. The food here is pretty darned good right across the board and the options are endless. The ultimate no-brainer when you're hungry and you have no idea what you're in the mood for. As far as sheer "bang for the buck", no place around even comes close. The waitstaff has seen and heard it all and will, if asked, probably perform open heart surgery on you or dance a mazurka on your table. Trust me. They've fielded stranger requests. (And somehow they smile through it all, which would seem to indicate that they are all probably heavily medicated.---No other rational explanation really exists.)

East Bay Diner is superb!! We eat there several times per month and many of those who live in our condo community do the same. You can't beat the quality and quantity of the food at East Bay. The only Italian food that my husband will eat is Chicken Parmesan, He likes the one East Bay makes better than at Italian Restaurants. How can you beat the large pieces of the chicken with three Jumbo Shrimp Parmesan? We share the meal and bring enough home for a third meal. The bill is usually $21 plus tip for two. The service has always been excellent. The wait staff is most accommodating. I was just there with my son who could not believe the portion. His selection came with soup and salad, he didn't want soup and asked for a double salad. Most other places just add some salad to the original salad as a double salad. One diner where we eat charges you extra if you want a second salad instead of soup. At East Bay he was given two oversized salads! There was so much to eat that he couldn't even touch the spaghetti that came with the meal. His meal was full of large scalllops, jumo shrimpl and pieces of checken. There is not doubt that the East Bay Diner is 5 star!

Don't be fooled by it's looks. The food sucks, the service sucks, and the prices are too high -- not that price is really a factor because the food and service has convinced us to never return. WHAT is with that HUGE bowl of smelly boiled yellow chicken they put on the table??!!! Nobody eats it. Do they throw all of that chicken out every time they seat a table and no one eats any? I think not. At least that's my guess. But I don't have to worry about it because we stopped eating there after only two attempts.

I never thought a trip to a diner would end up as a trip to the Twlight Zone. Look I would never put down an eating establisment based on its customers, but I don't know whats going on here. My wife and I were enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon when I suggested we eat out, Bellmore and Wantagh have many fine informal eaterys this is not one of them. We sat down at our table, when I looked across the room and there was this old women wearing clown makeup. I don't mean heavy makeup as sometimes old people do, I am talking about more makeup then the Joker in the old Batman comic books it was disturbing to say the least. My wife asked me what I was stareing at, when she turned around she gasped and told me she wanted to leave. I talked her in to staying when the watress arrived who seemed pleasent enough. She took our orders, then five minutes later this old guy comes over wearing a doublebrested suit totaly out of place in this atmosphere. He looked more like a funeral director, no smile, just a total blank expression. I tried to make small talk with him, he did not respond, he puts this basket of bread down, and this this plate of the most nasty chicken parts I ever saw in my life. It looked like grabage, and the odor was horrrible. I would not even give this to a stray dog. My wife and I both fled the place in horror, and ended up eating cereal for dinner what a dump.
