There is an item on their menu called The Glorious Feast. Even now, a week later, it pains me that we were unable to order it, not so much because I love stuffing my face with barbecue, but because I can't report back to you about how good that barbecue was. You are the most important thing in my life, dear reader. Unfortunately, we already had dinner plans in a few hours, so we had to take it easy on the food. Accordingly, we ordered the fried mac and cheese, the peach chipotle wings, and the brick of tobacco onions (somewhere between a bloomin' onion and onion strings). Let me just say that American Glory knows how to fry things, and their sauce game (accompanying as well as on the table) is on point. We were not sad about any of them. Someday I'll return to see if the barbecue is just as tasty. Three extra things I appreciate: 1. They knew to give me the Mets pint glass without asking. 2. There's a decent selection of beer and bourbon. 3. Their wine is listed on the menu as Fancy Grape Juice, and the non-alcoholic beverages under Temperance.

We stopped here for lunch while staying in town. The menu looked good and seemed to be pleasing to our crowd. We were seated right away and drink orders were taken. The friendly waitress then came back and took our food orders. Some of us ordered meat platters while others ordered sandwiches. The food came out promptly, though they had my combo wrong so I had to see the whole plate sent back and wait a bit. People seemed to enjoy the sandwiches. The cornbread was very good. Some of my group enjoyed the maple butter, but I found it too sweet. DW had a brisket and BBQ beef sandwich. It was okay, but didn't come out very warm and got cold quickly. I had pulled pork which was good and rubs which were average. Some people liked the Mac and cheese, but I didn't think it had enough cheese sauce and the pasta was over cooked. My main issue was I couldn't find a BBQ sauce I liked. There was a chipotle sauce that was too spicy and thin. There was a maple-like sauce that was too sweet and the mustard type sauce didn't hitter spot. Some of the menu items were over priced, though the beer was reasonable.

We eat here every time we take a weekend trip upstate. The fried mac-and-cheese balls and fried pickels are not to be missed! As a man with southern blood, I have very high expectations for my BBQ. Though it's not quite like the western NC bbq I'm used to, it's very, very tasty. The brisket is also delicious. The servers are always very polite, and are excellent at recommending beers. Definitely make it a point to stop in while you are in the Hudson area!

Food was excellent and the cocktails are amazing. They are not super sweet and syrupy but let the drink be itself. Good selection of whiskey, bourbon cocktails and good beer. Only downside is it is a little loud. Not to hard to get past as the bbq and drinks are so good.

Eaten there several times and always enjoyed. Good barbecue and comfort food. Lively bar scene but if you want to eat dinner without the noise, there's an upstairs dining room. Charles B

Excellent pulled pork. Very moist. Great bun, tasty sandwich. Yummy homemade thick chips. Perfectly poured Guinness. Highly recommend. Good service not rushed. Yummy

Had a fabulous lunch at the American Glory on Saturday, May 23rd. It was crowded, but were able to score a couple of seats at the bar. The services was friendly and the food even better...that says quite a bit as my husband is from North Carolina and he has bbq sauce in his blood. He loved the pulled pork, the homemade pickles and the slaw...and I had the porkbelly skewers which were to die for....beer selection was ok...a tad pricey for a pint..but still I enjoyed the couple that I had. Would definitely go back as the chili looks great and there are other things on the menu we would like to try....worth the drive from Albany area...when looking for someplace besides the Dinosaur...etc...in the Capital District.

This place is fantastic!! Really delicious BBQ. I had the BBQ pork sliders and fries and was fully satisfied. The fries were cooked perfectly, not soggy or greasy at all. My friends also got a variety of the pork sliders but one thought hers were too spicy. So maybe if you're sensitive to spice, don't get those or ask for no seasoning. We also had the Mac and cheese balls for an app. Really good, although they were just a tad cool in some places but that didn't bother me cause they were so good. The atmosphere was really fun. If you're in the mood for live music, go there ! I don't know If they have live music all the time, but I liked it. I'm not usually one for really loud places, but it was such a good time and I would highly recommend :)

Stopped by here for a pre-dinner cocktail. I got one of the featured cocktails with bourbon - it was nice! I also liked that it was under $10. Overall, the vibe was casual and a great spot to have a meal where you want to get your hands dirty! I saw plenty of tables feasting on finger-licking BBQ. I can't commit on the food, but the cocktails were good.

I was looking forward to some tasty ribs and a good draft beer. Instead I got tasteless dry ribs that tasted two days old. Absolutely no taste in the meat. There were plenty of sauces to pour onto the ribs but they did not make up the difference. Owners have no pride. This place was good when it opened several years ago. Not anymore. But the tiny overpriced side of beans and dirty rice...wasn't bad. Mario

We should of heeded of vocalized opinions from those who have been to this place, but throwing caution to the wind, my husband and I decided to give it a try .... biggest mistake ever made. To start with it took 4 people who were working in the bar area to decide where to put us .... the place was not busy with diners, as much more so was the bar, which was packed with loud foul mouthed drinkers, we were not there to belly up to the bar but for dinner. After being directed upstairs, set at a table, with menus .... we actually think they forgot we were there. After of 20 mins or so we were asked if we would like to order of a beverage. 10 mins later our beverages arrived, and our order taken. Dinner was of prime rib for myself, my husband having Cajan cat fish .... the dishes when arrived, I admit looked okay but the flavoring quite over done. The prime rib was very over smoked, and I could taste of cajan .... perhaps to save time they combined our order to cook .... my husband could not eat his meal, too much cajan spice .... yes he knew it would be spicy but it was way too much. We let the waitress know that the catfish dinner was uneatable and we were told we should of said something when she first served us .... as she could of had it fixed, we nicely explained that she had disappeared, and the meal was 90% untouched .... so where was the problem? No we were not our for a free meal, and did not expect one .... nor was my husband offered of a replacement. The bill arrived, nothing removed, no apology from anyone on the meal of spoil .... a high tip was suggested on the bill .... it was not given. I would suggest .... unless you like your food tasting of burnt planked wood smoke and its your thing of eat by all means go there and enjoy .... if not, please do not waste your time or money, we will not be returning. A well deserving 2 star give, for this place of not so up to par.

I've been wanting to try American Glory ever since it opened, but I never got around to it. So I finally hit it up a couple of weeks ago with my cousin and sister for a girl's night. First off, it was a Tuesday night, we arrived at about 7:30 and there was live music playing. I'm not a big fan of live music in restaurants, especially small ones with bad acoustics. The "band" was about six feet away from where we were sitting and it was so loud, you couldn't think let alone talk to each other. Now, in this type of establishment, I might expect there might be music on a Friday or Saturday night, but on a Tuesday night at 7:30, I really just wanted to have a nice quiet conversation. Thankfully, they only played for about a half an hour longer and from then on it was very pleasant. The food was just okay. It really depended on the dish. For appetizers, we had mac & cheese balls and buffalo shrimp. The mac and cheese balls were pretty good and strangely addictive. The buffalo shrimp were average, save for one that was discovered to either not have been fully cooked or had gone bad. That one was not so good. The entrees were good. Probably would not be considered authentic Southern BBQ by the connoisseurs, but for me it seemed pretty good. Dessert was an oversize choco-chip cookie and chocolate flourless cake. Both were good, flourless cake was better! *Charged me for a refill, which is a small mason jar with lots of ice. I think soda was $1.95, charged $1.25 for refill. I don't like it when restaurants charge for refills, especially when your'e not being excessive. On this particular night, the employees seemed to be in a hurry to leave. There was one waitress and a bartender. Shortly after we received our meal, they started cleaning up the tables, taking the condiments off, etc. This was about 8:15, I would say. They advertise as being open until 10 pm, but they were turning away tables starting at about 8 pm. I would estimate that about 7 couples came in to eat and they turned them away saying that they had shut down the kitchen because they were slow. I believe that's called a lull! I'd be concerned if I were the proprietor as they probably lost quite a bit of $$$ from what I witnessed. And if I had been one of the people they turned away almost 2 hours before the posted closing time, I wouldn't come back.

When this restaurant first opened years ago, I went all the time. Food was good, portions were good, drinks were good, and atmosphere was GREAT. Great location on Warren Street. Stopped going 2 years ago because food got not so good, drinks weaker, portions smaller. A friend and I thought we would try it again this past weekend... NEVER AGAIN. I ordered the smoked chicken breast, thinking how bad could chicken be? BAD. Tasted foul (no pun intended). Seriously. I'm not exaggerating. And I ordered a Mint Julip. First one was weak. Asked for it to be stronger second time around, and they did make it stronger, but with the cheapest ass liquor around. A really bad tasting drink. It's too bad to see how this place has gone even further downhill. And the place was not packed, which proves how many people are recognizing what a lousy restaurant this has become. Never again.

It's hard to know what to make of this place. Makes me a little dizzy thinking about it. Some of the food is pretty tasty. The St. Louis ribs had a hint of smoke (could have gone a little longer in the smoker, wherever that is); the collard greens were nice and tangy; the chopped brisket had good saucy flavor but was kind of chewy. The not-so-good: the sliced beef brisket was a vehicle for saucing, nothing more (and could have used more smoke). The baked beans were meh. And a couple of the table sauces were actually rank, tasting half-stale. For the price--$18 for a two-meat platter--you'd like more consistency and value. Two ribs is pretty stingy. And while the space is nice, by 9 p.m. on a Saturday night it was no place to bother eating dinner. The bar crowd was overflowing, and it took half an hour from finishing our meal to get the check. Three stars feels a little generous; I'll call it 2 1/2 and a C-.

Wow. Why the bad reviews??? Husband & I have been here twice, with a year between the visits. BOTH times were AWESOME. (I'll only be reviewing the most recent, which was 2 days ago). We ordered: The 5 beer tasting flight, Stuffed bell peppers, and the Sliders (meatloaf, sloppy joe, Pulled Pork, & Brisket) The Raspberry Chipotle Beer (their own brew) was my favorite. The stuffed peppers were everything they should be. The sliders were so filling and all delicious. The Sloppy Joe slider & the Meatloaf sliders were my favorite. The Pulled Pork was yummy, but had a vinegar-y taste. The brisket was just a vehicle for the Maple Chipotle Barbecue Sauce, which is DELICIOUS, so I didn't mind at all. The Meatloaf and Sloppy Joe were AMAZING. The staff (especially the two bartenders that have serviced us BOTH times we've been here - a blonde girl & a brunette boy with blue or green eyes - lunch shift) ARE AWESOME. So friendly, so nice, so helpful. Even gave us suggestions on where to shop etc. Even the live music was good last time. These other yelpers are hatin' for no reason!

WOW! Tough crowd! I can't say I'm a BBQ connoisseur but the food here was really good. My wife had the St. Louis ribs and I had the spare ribs. Both were perfectly done! The sauces added a nice touch. In the end, we thought it was too much food and we only ordered the 6-bone portion. Granted the sides weren't really spectacular but it was the ribs that were worth the price alone. Service was excellent and the staff was always cordial. Our waiter always found the right time to stop by and ask how we were doing. This particular Sunday there was this great singer on the guitar which was pretty good. My wife and I sat on the table right in front of the stage and we really had a great time. As a matter of fact, we had such a great time that after checking into our hotel we came right back, sat at the bar and spent the rest of the afternoon listening to great music, having drinks and chatting with Natasha the bartender about parking tickets. Sorry to disagree with the naysayer but this place is definitely worth the trip especially if you want a little 'spice' after a full day of browsing in antique shops.

Never consistent but winter walk was the end- I can understand limiting the menu, but raising the prices? Making everything ala carte? Maybe those who only come for special events will keep coming but as a Hudson regular never again!

What a bunch of complete assholes. I went in to meet a friend and was waiting at the bar. I went to use the bathroom and then was standing at the bar, debating whether or not to stay and have my friend come there. The doorman approached me and told me that I was loitering, took my photo, and told me the "cops are on their way." I asked what he was talking about, said "I don't understand, do you think I stole something?" And he said that I did because i was loitering. !!?!?!?! Needless to say I left and will never ever be back. Fuck this place.

I also don't get the bad reviews, but have heard that they were a result of a case of sour grapes...Anyway...My friend and I decided to get a very late lunch and were REALLY hungry because it was almost dinnertime. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel welcome and at home. We ordered everything to share: the mac and cheese balls, the fried calamari with banana peppers, and the lobster roll special. The food was very good and the service was extra-attentive and friendly. The lobster roll was full of large lobster chunks, the mac and cheese balls were so tasty, and the calamari was a little piece of heaven. I would definitely recommend American Glory for anyone looking for a nice comfort food place. Next time I want to try the BBQ and sweet potato fries that everyone was raving about!

Food is good. Not amazing, but hey, it's a BBQ joint in Hudson. The selection of sauces really make it fun. We came back a second time after such great service right after they first opened. This second time, quite a different experience. Slow service, they seemed shocked to be busy on a Saturday evening in the summer (derp, whatdya expect during a blues festival?), and the food (all courses and cooked items) seemed overdone. We'll be back again, but much more scrutinizing. Glory, ya got one more chance!

Food is very subjective and this my take Appetizer was sampler with onion rings, rib lets, fried pickles and Mac and cheese balls. The only good memorable thing was the onion rings. Next was corn and potato chowder. It was ok but sweet which was unexpected, they had put carrots in. The Corn Bread that came with the chowder was very good. Had the Spare Ribs wither backed beans and bacon and corn with butter. The beans were to sweet, they had been swimming in maple. The corn also had pesto in it that wasn't to my taste either. The ribs were tough hard to get off bone, and in general not very tasty, only managed to eat 2 of the 9 ribs and turned down offer to take the rest home. Been here, done that, no need to do it again.

Pork plate tasted good, nothing special. Price is a little high. Patio area is cool. No side substitutions allowed, and standard side is pickles and onions.

Certainly the best BBQ in the area. Nice atmosphere, friendly wait staff, reasonably priced. I understand the owner (s) renovated this 100 + year old firehouse. Keep up the good work.

3 Stars for American Glory BBQ. I've only eaten here twice. I didn't like my catfish, but the Pulled Pork Sandwich was n the top 25th percentile of Pulled Pork Sandwiches I've had, and their FF were def to my liking. They were in a quasi Belgian/ French/ Dutch Frites style..the beer selection is pretty good including a few locals. It's not at all pretentious or hispterish, which may account, in part , for the low ratings that Alexandria A was wondering about

  • Danika A.

Reader beware: I'm reviewing this place as a bar/restaurant, not a BBQ joint. Neither my husband nor I ordered a BBQ dish, so I can't comment on the quality of their BBQ. This is one of those times when I'm glad I didn't check Yelp before visiting a restaurant. I imagine this place must have gone through a dark time to earn its current 2.5 star rating. Perhaps they have learned from their past mistakes, because my husband and I had a very enjoyable lunch there. Service was good. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about their selection of beers on tap. I had one of the ciders, which came with cinnamon on the rim (I do wish they would have told me about that ahead of time. Not a big deal). I had the stuffed peppers featured on their brunch menu, and they were very good. I was impressed that the peppers weren't over- or underdone. They still had a bit of crispness to them without that raw quality. A great vegetarian option. My main complaint is the price. $14 for two stuffed peppers was a bit much, in my opinion. Based on the experience we had, we'd definitely try it again.

Some of the most unhealthy food I have ever eaten. Everything seemed like it was straight from the freezer and not worth the price. On the upside, the atmosphere is nice, but they should invest more effort into their entrees.

Wow... what's with all the bad reviews for this place? Admittedly, I've only been here once a few months back, but we thought the food and service was very good. The reviews read like a bunch of gossipy housewives bitching about this or that. Maybe it's not the finest establishment in Hudson, and certainly not by NYC standards, but it's way better than most of the crappy places to eat in a 20-mile radius of Hudson. We had the BBQ feast for the four of us. As noted on the menu, if it's not enough, they'll bring out more, no extra charge. So, we're thinking "game on!" But lo and behold, there was so much food, we barely made a dent, and had enough food to take home that last us for almost a week. Yes, the BBQ isn't the best I've had, but it's as good as any I can get in the region. For every BBQ place, there's always some freakin' Southerner who criticizes anything BBQ as not "authentic". If I wanted real Southern BBQ, I'll go South! For up here, it's good enough. The beers were good, too. This is a good place to hang, and prices are reasonable for what you get. I'm looking forward to going back.

Everything tastes frozen and slathered in too sweet sauces. The restoration of the former fire house is gorgeous though.

I'm editing and expanding this review since yelp thinks i am a robot reviewer. I am not a robot nor do i have any issue with the owner or anything like that (although it does seem odd that 3 times as many reviews - mostly negative, have been 'filtered' then published). sad to say i have been to american glory 3 times. each time the food has been awful. the comments that it's sysco bbq seem dead on. the service is friendly, but that doesn't make up for being inedible. i would eat a hot dog at 7-11 before going back to this place.

Hudson is a small, close-knit community, with a lot of "foodies" with rather high expectations, so when a new restaurant or bar opens it's a big deal. American Glory was highly anticipated. Unfortunately the reality doesn't live up to the hype. The space is beautiful - an old restored firehouse - awesome bar, upstairs dining, small stage for live entertainment. But somehow it misses the character of an older building, not to mention the character of the surrounding town, and you feel like you're in an Applebee's. There was much touting of the "authentic" barbecue. As a born and bred Southerner, I'm pretty picky about my pulled pork and sauce. I tried different dishes on a couple different occasions and pretty much everything was a disappointment. The pulled pork was rather dry and tasteless, and the selection of sauces they offer were awful, all way too sweet and obviously not home-made. The sides tasted warmed-over or even worse, microwaved, and were either too salty to be edible or completely bland. The Hudson restaurant and bar scene is small and rather incestuous. All the owners and patrons are friends, and everyone talks. So the stories about the owner of American Glory, or the Glory Hole, as it has come to be called by locals, have spread quickly. After initially buddying up to his neighbors, he has now turned on most of them and has even managed to get himself banned from a couple of bars. This isn't the personality or attitude this town needs or deserves. Overall, a major disappointment.

  • Jill H.

This was TERRIBLE barbecue, and my family isn't even picky about their BBQ. The ribs were tough, flavorless and fatty. The sauce was gloopy and sweet, and every single one of the sides (except for the pickled cabbage) was awful. Avoid this place if at all possible.

  • Mike W.

Maybe my expectations are unreasonably high. Did you know at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Manhattan you can get an enormous plate filled to the brim with succulent pulled pork, deliciously buttery beef brisket, ribs, two sides and cornbread for $18.95? Manhattan!!! At American Glory, back in my home county in rural, upstate NY, you'll pay a dollar more for the same combo. But guess what?! For that extra buck you'll actually receive LESS food and it will be completely shitty! Yes. Brisket is fatty. Fat makes it wonderful. But two of my three pieces shouldn't consist mainly of fat. Again, I embrace this fat, but not when it's rubbery as all hell and dominates the meat. I'm also unsure what makes the pulled pork "North Carolina" as claimed. Where's the vinegar and spice? Hell, what makes this pork any different than some simple braised pork with a small amount of BBQ sauce? Nothing. The coleslaw was disgustingly soupy, not creamy, the ribs completely mediocre and the cornbread oddly chewy. The undercooked collard greens were the highlight of my meal. There are some things I enjoy about this place. The bar attracts a big crowd and fills a void in the Hudson bar scene. That void being a place to here some music, down some reasonably priced beers and accidentally get into a fight. The actual building, a converted firehouse, is also pretty awesome. Overall, a cool building and a poppin' bar does not make up for uninspired BBQ and spotty service. The service will likely get better as time goes on. Can't say the same for the lackluster food, but one can hope.

I've been here multiple times and have had great experiences and some not so great. The bartenders and servers are all very friendly, however the food is a little pricey for the quantity. The food is quite good, but nothing spectacular. They usually have a good selection of beer on tap, however I've been told over and over that they will have an exclusive beer that never seems to show up. They have an open mike night that usually has bad acoustic covers and terrible poetry. This is a good place for lunch or an early dinner, but avoid for late night.

Lots of mixed reviews here. Went for first tome expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. The warm space features lots of brick, a long crowded bar and high ceilings. Lots of beers on tap and a long shelf of small batch bourbons. Check the price first; the Bookers was $18 a pop. Service was diner level proficient. We ate upstairs since the band was setting up on the main floor. A friend and I split a sampling platter for two. Moist, smokey St. Louis and spare ribs were meaty and wonderful. Pulled pork also moist and smokey. The sweet pork needed no help from the side sauces which ranged from insipid sweetness to watered down supermarket banality. I suggest they 86 all their sauces and seriously try to produce some that compliment the food. Brisket at other BBQ places is dry enough to make you gag. Surprisingly not here. Best I've had and that includes Daisy Mae in NYC. The cornbread was too soft and sweet and the sides pretty good. The baked beans ok but the red beans much better. Desert looked standard BBQ joint...sweet and sticky. We opted out this time. The owner showed up twice to schmooze. Seemed like a nice guy and asked our opinions of the food. You get the feeling they're willing to make changes where needed. We'll see when we return. We definitely will.

My husband and I went to American Glory on a Friday night around 7:30. It was reasonably busy but not packed - the wait staff was a little frazzled, but they'll get the swing of it soon, I'm sure. I ordered a mint julep and my husband had a beer - the mint julep was a very strong pour and a little unbalanced, but OK. And it was served in a cute mason jar. We had buffalo wings as an appetizer - the hot isn't as hot as I had hoped, but they do offer an even hotter option so we'll be getting that next time. They also have many different kinds of hot sauces on the table, but none of them were very hot at all and were heavily reliant on chili powder. Not bad, but in a BBQ place I expect some HOT options! I had the pulled pork, served with french fries and topped with cole slaw and pickles. I would've preferred more bbq sauce on it, but maybe that's a personal preference. It was delicious nonetheless and reasonably priced at around $8.50. My husband had a sirloin burger that he absolutely adored. The price was around the same as well. The ambiance is nice - brick walls, old timey photographs on the walls. They were showing Little Rascals on a big screen upstairs with no sound, which I think they could probably do without. There was also a cliche bar guitar player downstairs who was alright. I was sitting upstairs so I can't speak to if it affected conversation on the first floor. The downstairs does have seating out on the street which is a nice touch, and the bar is spacious and carries a few local beers along with the usual types. All in all, a good experience, and we look forward to them getting their restaurant legs. We'll definitely return.

OMG....worse ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket I ever had! DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT for anything!!!! Don't say you are not warned. Their so called SLOW cooked ribs are tough, beef brisket is fat and tasteless (the kind of meat that you won't even cook for your dog!!), pulled pork is very dry like paper! Service is slow but friendly. After we told the waitress how bad the food was, she said she will tell the manager....15 mins later, she came back to ask if we want to have dessert(and you think she will say how can I make up for the horrible tasting food). I have to tell her I dare not even try! The green beans looked more like over cooked beans, the collard with ham is like overcooked pickled vegetables, the pickled red cabbage was ok. My husband and I have travelled the world and have lived in San Francisco for 16 years. There is no where in our 16 years in San Francisco have tried such horrible BBQ!! The cabernet was ok but the syrah was a little off. We asked for water when we ordered our drinks but it wasn't served till we were half way through our meals. Took the waitress quite a while before bringing our wines. Julie

This was such a great place we went two nights in a row! The bar staff was amazing and the BBQ top notch. We visited the Hudson area for just a few days and it was the best food we had. Seemed pricey at first but the cost was commensurate with other new restaurant/bars in Hudson. Can't speak for the tables, but the experience was awesome at the bar! Being from Louisville, KY (Home of Bourbon & BBQ), this place ranked right up there. Disregard the complainer reviews and give it a try!

So I'm not from the area but I have eaten at both a ton of BBQ places and half of the restaurants on warren street. American Glory suffers from two key flaws. The first of which is the same as what many other restaurants on Warren st suffer from. It doesn't know what it is. Much like the red dot, Mexican radio, etc... the restaurant is trying to put a shirt and tie on a teenager and call it a pro. It's not. Non of them are. They all serve mediocre food while trying to be classy. Maybe if American Glory took a step back, stopped focusing on presentation and trying to be modern, then maybe it could be good. Second, the food is bad. They have crispy french fries on the menu which are really just meh mushy french fries. The macaroni and cheese balls (a growing trend in the food world) are dried out and too crunchy. The veggies for sides are typically prepared very poorly. I went and got corn on the cob as a side for the platter for two and noticed a few things wrong. 1) There was only 1 cob of corn on the platter for 2 2) The corn was clearly boiled and then put on the grill to get char marks. This makes it taste mushy. 3) The corn was wilted in some spots meaning it was probably old Beyond that the actual BBQ ribs, turkey leg, and other meat, with the exception of the pulled pork, were all bland and dried out. Again, the plate came out looking very nice, but tasted poor. Finally, the beer list is good but stay away from the mixed drinks. The Jameson and Ginger I had was served in a small glass filled with ice and very little of either Jameson or Ginger. Others around me were similarly disappointed with their drinks. Ultimately, if you love BBQ and want to go somewhere nice, try Bubba Beans. This place should try being a fire house again.

nice place that doesnt know if it is a martini bar or BBQ place,,,have had much better, have to agree with most of the other reviewers. My server was great, I sat outside in the sun on a lovely day.

We checked this place out based upon a recommendation we had seen while at the adventure park at Catamount about 20 minutes away. We had no expectations and had never been to Hudson NY but we knew that we were hungry and wanted some good BBQ comfort food. The staff was very pleasant when we walked in and we were seated right away. We chose to sit downstairs near the bar. The decor and the ambiance was pleasant. We enjoyed looking at all the trinkets, statues and pictures around the bar/restaurant. The wait staff was attentive and accommodating. The pulled pork dinner (with Texas toast) and sandwich (and sweet potato fries) were very tasty and enjoyable. The garlic mashed was good. The Cole slaw was ok but I was spoiled with some of the greatest Cole slaw you will ever taste when we visited Memphis a few years back. I have yet to find anything even close to the Cole slaw there. The place is kids friendly. Although my two are older than toddlers but not yet teens they brought over crayons and 2 regular coloring books. Not only did the kids enjoy it but my wife colored some pictures too! The kids had the 1 lb burgers which is much more than they usually eat but they really enjoyed them and they were cooked just right. Their drinks were served in mason jars which they loved. The portions were a good size, not too much and not too little. The price was reasonable as well. The 4 of us with dessert and a couple of Beers with tip was just a little over $100 which I think is very reasonable. Overall a nice place with decent food! What more can you ask for these days!

Exactly - meh. I have had much better. For some reason I have been fascinated with the entire food concept of "American BBQ." Therefore, since I travel a great deal, I always go out of my way to find "authentic" BBQ. The problem is with this place is they actually do try, but they miss on so many levels. The mac n cheese balls were boring oh wow they so boring, the flavoring was wrong on the ribs, and the service was vacuous teenage girl lousy. However the cheese grits were decent as was the pickled cabbage. Desert was decent - cupcakes (the best I have had)...pumpkin pie good (although the crust was not good) and the strawberry shortcake was just alright. The bathrooms were clean and the bar seemed interesting. Go and taste it on your own, but I will probably not go again.

After reading the reviews, I went in here with pretty low expectations. This place is terrible. Food is terrible and overpriced and I think they serve budlight and call it a microbrew. I don't know how anyone could screw up BBQ, but my ribs were both dry and watery at the same time. I spoke with some people in the town and the consensus among the locals is that this place is an open-sore in the middle of an otherwise incredible town. My advice is to avoid it at all costs. Late night music at Helsinki is much better. If you are from NYC and coming to Hudson, this place is the equivalent of a B&T bar in midtown east or directly across from Penn Station. This would be a 0 star if it was an option.

Decent BBQ but not fabulous. Good bar- type atmosphere. Nice selection of brews including local Chatham Brewing Co. CNBC's Jim Cramer looming silently over the bar was a bizarre touch.

What a bummer! The first week this establishment was pretty good, both food and service. Atmosphere wasn't bad, a little shiny "plasticy" but not too bad, although bastardizing an historic firehouse was certainly a red flag, (no vision). Since then the place has consistently gone down hill. The last couple times the food was terrible and as far as the atmosphere it's basically a sports bar... and rowdy at that. The brisket was reheated one too many times, dry as a bone as were ribs, tough. When we told the waitress she just went blank faced and the matter went no further. The clock is ticking .

If you read my other reviews (especially BBQ type places) you can see that I'm a fan of food and not in particular BBQ. I've had BBQ in Memphis (Payne's, Corky's, Rendezvous), Muscle Shoals (Bishops), New Orleans, North Carolina, NY (of course) and a lot of other places. Most of these places had good to VG to orgasmic type BBQ and some (read my reviews) sucked. They were all different (dry rub, wet, falling off the bone...etc). American Glory BBQ is VG BBQ. I do believe they have steadily improved the BBQ since the time they opened, but that's a great thing! They keep working it until it's right or they want the food to get better. The ribs i had were more of the dry rub variety (not bathed in BBQ sauce) and were meaty and tasty. They give VG size portions and the food re-heated very well the next day. The sliders are really good and you get a nice sampling. The wings are good. They are more smokey than say traditional Buffalo style (or Candlelight Inn style), but are a nice size, tasty and meaty. One of the reviewers reviewed American Glory as a bar/restaurant and not the BBQ. That's actually a great thing because that's one of the "special" things about this place. It has a great vibe if you just want to hang out, sit at the bar and have a beer or cocktail. They have great beers on tap (that they rotate), great live music (usually acoustic), not too loud and very friendly. I've seen 20 somethings hanging out and AARP'ers having dinner, drinks and getting up and dancing to whomever was performing. Hudson is a great little town that's on the rise again and that's a great thing, but it's still a quaint little town that's not exactly jumping at night. I don't think they want a wild, loud, noisy drunk crowd coming in at night and disturbing the peace. This place is lively on the weekends, but only in a good way. People really seem to be enjoying themselves, the music, the food n drink. Hudson needed a place that has some nightlife with some live music, bluesy vibe, but is not rowdy at all and very well run. I got to know the manager, Natasha a little bit and she does a great job. I really believe that great BBQ is a wee bit subjective, but i do believe that the food at American Glory BBQ is VG and the overall vibe puts it over the top. It's good to see a downhome style BBQ place with good food, live music (thank god) and a friendly vibe in Hudson, NY.

Should have read the reviews on Yelp before we dined but there wasn't much open on a Tuesday evening. Knowledgeable bartender. Try The Cuke martini if it's warm outside or a Manhattan with a touch of Laphroaig scotch added to your rye. The bar offers great seating. My advice, sit here, have a drink, maybe an appetizer, but go elsewhere for dinner. The Po-Boy Oyster sandwich was most disappointing. Oysters were canned, not fresh. Sandwich was only half eaten. The chicken wings likewise were not that appetizing. I'd skip them as well. I had a brisket sandwich. Good, but the sauce was overly sweet and without much pizzazz. Therefore, I can't say much for the BBQ. The table next to us had chicken and waffles. He really seemed to like it and it did look good. Maybe that's the way to go next time. My advice is also to skip dessert. The Berry Crisp and Kentucky pie were both unimaginative and the chocolate on the pie was so hard that it was difficult to eat.

What surprised me most about American Glory is that they appear to serve CAFO-finished meats when some of the best farming in Upstate NY is right in their back yard. The food was just mediocre, so I guess that might have something to do with it. If you want to eat something that tastes good and is raised ethically, go to Grazin' near the park further up on Warren Street.

I dined at American Glory BBQ last night after walking around Warren St and realizing that 90% of the resturants are closed on tuesdays. We were promptly greeted and brought to a table by our friendly waiter. It was only about 6pm so the resturant was nearly empty except for a few bar customers and one other table. For our first course: pork belly. This was dry and tasted like it came frozen, out of a truck. For our entrees my friends ordered burgers which they found to be delicious. Unfortunately the steak I ordered medium rare, arrived well done. It was so tough that I could barely cut it with a steak knife. Our friendly waiter took the dish back and apologized. I asked if I could have a burger instead but he assured me that the chef could prepare me another steak, which I agreed to and asked if I could have it rare just to be sure the kitchen would not overcook it. The second time around the steak was also prepared well done. I sent it back again and decided to cut my losses. By this point the rest of the table had already finished their dinner. I was able to look past all of this at the time since I was with good company but the appalling part of the experience was when we got our bill. Our server apologized again, and informed me that while he asked the manager comp the steak, the manager refused to do so. I didn't feel like arguing or causing a scene, let alone turn it into a focal point of an evening out with old friends whom I never see anymore. I can not believe how COWARDLY the management was, hiding in the back after being told the situation and making our server tell us that, instead of coming out and telling me to my face that I have to pay $20 for a steak that I couldn't even eat. The resturant was not busy at all! It's not like we didn't spend money either, for three of us our bill was about $200 before tip, which I imagine is a high check average for a burger and BBQ joint. It is an unacceptable way to treat your customers. Especially customers who spend alot of money at your resturant and drink your $30 Scotch all evening. I won't be returning to American Glory and you can bet that we will be telling all of our friends to steer clear of this place.

We drove up from Brooklyn for the weekend and were drawn into this BBQ place from the street by the amazing live music being played by two young guys on the guitar and drums. We got a great waiter, a delicious lobster roll special, and nice seating near their cute outdoor area. The service and great live blues music kept us there for a few hours. This is a place we're going to make a must have for future trips to the Hudson Valley.

Had a mixed but generally positive experience at American Glory on Saturday night. My friends and I stopped in Hudson overnight and were looking for a chill, casual place to hang out and diffuse the tension after being trapped in a small car together all day. Manager/greet instantly put us in a good mood, and got us settled. The band was great and worth coming back for. We were seated near the window and it was loud but not deafening. We could still chat. One of us has a gluten allergy. She had the chili and didn't get sick (although even after a long conversation with the waitress she was still brought a piece of cornbread. The ribs were really good and rib eaters were very happy. I had the sloppy joe, which was fine but not served on Texas Toast as described on the menu....it was just a boring burger bun and not all that sloppy. Probably, I'd give American Glory 4 stars if not for our server. She was pretty brusque and challenging to communicate with. For example, I asked for mashed potatoes instead of fries. She told us we couldn't make substitutions so I ordered a separate side of mash and planned to share the fries with my friends. My plate arrived with no fries, just a pathetically small scoop of mash. Apparently, you can make substitutions... you just have to pay $2.50? It all seemed a bit petty to me. We tried to catch the server to ask about the fries and order more drinks but she ignored us for the rest of the evening. Rather impressively so actually, given that she walked past us half a dozen times. Overall, I'd recommend this as a nice casual spot for keeping a diverse eating group happy...vegetarians, carnivores, gluten free folks were all left pretty pleased.

What a great find! I'm not a fan of bbq so hadn't tried this place out yet, until noticing their lovely little al fresco section last night. Soon the outdoor tables will come inside for the season, so we decided to take the opportunity and enjoy the lovely weather. We weren't disappointed. A sizeable menu offers abundant options beyond just standard bbq. I had a very unique eggplant dish that was out of this world, and my husband's chicken and waffles with local maple syrup was something fun and different. Sangria was exceptional (my fav). We shared the berry crisp for dessert and I can say from the food to the drinks to the service, our experience was a very good one, and I can now add a bbq restaurant to my roster of top pics. Highly recommended!

I've eaten here before and it was decent, but this last time it wasn't good on many levels. The ribs were fatty and over cooked, the service was poor(our server was inattentive- we had to ask for things like napkins and water multiple times before we were given them), and everyone in our party felt ill after we had eaten. We enjoyed the live music and atmosphere, but unfortunately that was all that was good about this visit.

I can only comment on the bar, as we were at American Glory for some evening libations. The atmosphere was casual and fun. There was a good selection of local beers. The bartender really made us feel at home. He was professional and helpful, interacting with our group without being intrusive. We had a great time, and he had a lot to do with it. Nicely done!

I'm on the fence about American Glory. The food is good, not great. I like the atmosphere and the service has generally been pretty good. The most recent time, we got the Q' for two plate. We also got the maple bbq wings as an appetizer. The wings were out of this world. The entrée had a wide variety of bbq. Riblets were the best of the bunch. Full size ribs were good but I've had better several times. The smoked turkey leg was tough and full of tendon. Cornbread is above average. The sides were generally good- garlic mashed and baked beans were above average. The collard greens left something to be desired. I guess I have two issues. The first is the food. We LOVED the wings and riblets, but most everything else was just okay or pretty good. Combo that with the second issue- $60 for dinner for two for mediocre food and you get- you guessed it- 3 stars.

I was in Hudson this week on business and my business associates and I decided to stop in for dinner while we were exploring the shops on Warren Street. I ordered the third-slab of St. Louis ribs, while one chose the pulled pork sammie and the other decided on the cedar plank salmon. The ribs were cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of crunch on the outside, yet moist and juicy inside. There was plenty of meat on the bones and the house sauce just kicked it up a notch with its sweetness. I was very pleased with my meal, and as were my associates with theirs. We sat at a table on the sidewalk and had a nice, enjoyable time chatting over our meals and drinks. I would definitely go there again.

Myself and my six hungry friends showed up last Saturday and we were kindly accommodated in their upstairs room... no host at that time 5.30pm so it took them a while but eventually all good. Food was awesome! The brisket is biiiig! The pulled pork isn't what you are expecting so be careful! We all agreed that the best one was the beef & brisket. Anyway, all was served on time, fresh, beautiful pottery... we had a great time! Thanks Crystal!

I've been to American Glory three or four times. Each time was just okay, hence the three star rating. Their food is decent. I typically get the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries on the side. The pulled pork is decent - not great but not bad. Their sweet potato fries...these are GOOD. Love them. So much, in fact, that I think I annoyed my two friends by raving about them so much. I've also ordered the New England clam chowder. This was decent - not the best I've had but certainly not the worst. My main fault with this is that it was served with corn bread. CORN BREAD! Though the corn bread is delicious with the meals, it does not go well with NE clam chowder. One time I ordered a cookie skillet sundae. It was GOOD. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The staff is always very friendly. My biggest gripe about American Glory is the pricing. While the food is okay, you aren't served a particularly large serving. Certainly not enough to warrant the prices they charge. Also, other comments have stated that when there is a live band, it is near impossible to think clearly. I haven't been at this restaurant when there has been a live band, but I can imagine that would be a nightmare if you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy a meal because the downstairs is pretty small. There is an upstairs dining room that is large and condusive for having conversations while dining. If you're heading to American Glory and there's a live band but you want to be able to converse, try upstairs.

Friday night and a talented couple were playing nice, upbeat folk and blues. The place is comfortable and commodious , warm and friendly, several taps of beer and a fair selection of booze. Great staff: Cheerful, helpful, friendly, quick. Mercifully, only one large TV over the bar. There is an upstairs but I never got there; I ate dinner at the bar. Let me preface my remarks by saying that I've wandered around the South in search of Blues and Bar-B-Q for years; I have a good idea what good bar-b-q and ribs taste like. The food was, generally, between just OK to fairly good, with a reasonable sized menu. I had rice and beans and mac and cheese for sides. The unremarkable rice and under cooked beans was nothing special. The mac and cheese was was nice, thick and flavorful. The "giant" ribs were not giant but they were fairly good: Tender but not falling off the bone, nicely cooked, with a dark brown crust, and flavorful. Not much evidence of smoke. The chopped pork was as the ribs but also a bit dry. Down south, I've found, there is less of the foolish hyper-aversion to fat. It's the fat, I believe, that carries the smoke, much of the flavor and renders the meat "moist" and a reasonable amount is actually good for you. A bit more fat would have improved the ribs a bit and the chopped pork a bunch, as would a bit heavier dose of smoke flavor. If this was only a restaurant, I would probably have rated it 3 stars. But this is also a bar, a music venue and a place to hang out. As such, it was very pleasant and I'm likely to return.

Came here this past weekend with my future in-laws. I was looking for a place that had a nice ambiance, big enough to hold a large party that included young and sometimes loud children, and of course good food. I had been to American BBQ before and had mixed experiences, but I have to say this past outing really impressed me. First off, the service is great. Professional wait staff that aims to please. If I wanted to nit pick, I would say that I found asking for water was a bit annoying, but overall the waitress was fast, knowledgeable and even took our picture. Wait times were reasonable. The food was excellent. Despite being a group of fussy, professional Italian eaters, we were pleased with just about everything that was put in front of us. The appetizer chicken wings were solid. Smoky with just enough heat to make you want to grab another. Their renditions of hush puppies were also very flavorful with a nice texture, albeit dry. Even the fried calamari, which we were hesitant about ordering, were tasty and not overcooked (which is easy to do). I ordered the half chicken, which was moist and perfectly seasoned. Everyone marveled when the behemoth of a turkey leg arrived at the table. But the real piece de resistance were the jumbo-sized ribs. Everyone ended up sharing the two orders intended for my mother and future mother-in-law. The dry rub had the perfect balance of sweet, salty and smoky. They were cooked to perfection and had us all wanting more. The sides of moist, chewy cornbread and slightly sweet pickles were also spot-on. We ended up taking some cornbread home with us and having it the next day. Hudson has a lot of nice dining options nowadays and I love them all, but this place definitely stands apart.

We were in town visiting Hudson for the day and decided to stop in at American Glory BBQ because I'm gluten-free and BBQ joints usually have some GF options - and their menu made mention of gluten-free options. This, alone, is worth three stars to start off with in my book. Thank you, thank you, thank you for understanding that this is important to an ever-growing part of the population. The food was OK. I had brisket and a side dish of Rice & Red Beans. The brisket was pretty dry and the rice and beans tasted like it was directly from a package - watery and bland. I did not have any adverse reaction so I have to assume they are true to their word in regards to their gluten free claims. My girlfriend and I got a very strange vibe from this place - we were basically ignored after being seated. We got the feeling that this was a place that catered to locals and didn't care much for us as city-folk visiting for the day. I know its a tough-to-define criticism but we did not feel welcome. We plan on returning to Hudson but I think we'll pass on a second visit. There are other gluten-conscious options in the area - but - maybe this would be OK if you have kids that are gluten-free and don't have very refined tastes.

Excellent home town BBQ joint - great food, fresh & reasonably priced, we have never had a bad meal here. Our friends were a bit tipsy and the owner even offered to get them home! If you are in Hudson - do not miss this place; you wont be disappointed!

We had the BEST experience here. My youth group had to stop for food after breaking down on the highway for 4 hours during a road trip. We called ahead, they reserved a place for us, and even offered to help with a tow if we needed! The food was delicious. I got the turkey leg with cornbread and others in my party got the ribs and burgers-- delicious. The service was great, and they were very welcoming to my middle school students. The restaurant, knowing what a tough day we had, gave us a big discount on the bill. Can't thank you enough! You turned a terrible road trip story into a much better experience.

As good as it gets! I've eaten at American Glory on several previous trips to Hudson, NY & loved it every time. Great beer selection, fantastic BBQ, and an overall atmosphere that can't be beat. In fact, my wife and I loved this place so much we decided to have our Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding After-Party at American Glory. The owner, Joe, made the whole process extremely easy. He was even on-site at all of our events. We'd give it 6-stars if that was an option. Run, don't walk!

Ordered take out this past week, woman was very friendly but was disappointed when I arrived home to eat. Ribs were dry, Mac and cheese balls had no flavor hardly any cheese, pulled pork sandwich ( I use to love) not good either. The food has changed a lot in the past year and not for the better! Sad to say after years of loving this place, I will not be coming back after that meal!!

Eh... when I saw the scene, smelled the smoke, and saw the tequelia with jalepanos I had really high expectations. Went with the rib sampler, mac and cheese, and the mushrooms with hot peppers. The smaller ribs were pretty good, but these things were tiny. I mean, seriously, smallest ribs I've ever had. Good they gave 3 instead of the 2 that were supposed to come with it, but even still. The other ribs were giant, but not especially tender. Mac and cheese was good... little bit of bacon in there. The mushrooms with peppers... take some mushrooms out of a can, add them into a can of chopped peppers, and microwave for 30 seconds. Overall, it is pedestrian, but not especially good BBQ. Will work if you are in a fix for BBQ, but not if you are looking for high quality.

Good atmosphere, live music and GREAT BBQ!! We were seated quickly on a Friday night and the service was fast and friendly. If I have one complaint it is that the beer could have been colder, but it was busy and they may have not been on the fridge too long...other than that, this is the best BBQ I've had in the Northeast.

We had an interesting experience when we asked how they can serve "beer battered" chicken and fish but had recently taken the "beer battered" shrimp off the menu... I asked the waiter why they couldn't batter shrimp? Isn't everything made to order here? The answer is NO. Just about everything comes from frozen here. And with the prices they charge and the service they give, we won't be back.

Quality BBQ food (possible of N. Carolina appellation), good brews, reasonable prices, live entertainment. The kids enjoyed their sloppy joes and I enjoyed the pulled pork immensely, the Mrs is boycotting meat presently and had fish which she liked.. I almost didn't go because the reviews, but the place looked nice outside (and is), and I was won over quickly by the proper southern style corn bread. Service was attentive and swift... I liked this place and will be back.

Awful! it was our first stop to eat while in Hudson. Had cold food, and awful service. Order the chicken wings and they where cold and not cook thoroughly, which ended with me having food poisoning. My sister order the soup and it was cold, how can soup be cold? its soup. I also order a side of mac and cheese and it was so cold that I decided not to eat it. Our waiter was not good at all either, spilled water on our table and then did not even come back to clean it up. I had to request napkins to clean his mess. Needless to say we didn't come back to this place after that.

This space used to be a glorious old firehouse. Now it looks like an Applebee's--completely remodelled with all the character zapped out. Unfortunately the food is about four notches below Applebee's. Here you'll find below-mediocre, previously frozen, overpriced fare; gratingly loud, somewhat competent live music; and frequently boisterous and tacky customers who seem to have come in by bus and been randomly dropped here--since it's hard to believe anyone would be a return customer to this establishment, and anyone familiar with all the great Hudson food choices wouldn't be at American Glory in the first place. All in all, a blight on Warren Street. It's too bad because the area could really use a cool and casual barbeque joint with good live music. So much promise, such poor execution.
