Food is plentiful and tasty. Delivery was on time as per the estimate from the guy on the phone. Open late and inexpensive. Would recommend.

Food was good but I ordered online and it took a long time. I also saw a coupon on the counter when I arrived for a free small pizza (after spending over a certain amount) so I waited for that as well. I would just recommend calling 30-45 min. before you want your food,.

I don't know whether to get this place 3 stars or 4 stars. I have eaten at a lot of pizza places in my lifetime I have also ordered from a lot of pizza places in my lifetime. I have never had such problems ordering over the phone before. The guy that picked up the phone barely spoke English and I wasn't asking for anything special I asked for two Roma wraps which is listed on their menu as well as on their website. This guy had no idea what I was talking about. He asked me three times what I was saying. Then I ordered an order of mozzarella sticks. The guy was not understanding what I was saying at all. I had to repeat mozzarella sticks six times. I was in a very quiet area there was one person next to me. I had full service on my phone. Finally somebody grabbed the phone away from whoever I was talking to that did not speak very good English and I told him I wanted to Rome wraps and mozzarella sticks. Quickly he said is that all it will be at your hotel in 15 mins and that was the end of the conversation. I was on the phone with this guy for about 15 to 20 minutes to order two Roma wraps and mozzarella sticks. I am not even making the story up I had somebody right next to me that experience the entire thing I have never in my life had that much trouble ordering something. The only reason that I'm giving this place for stars is because the food was actually very good. I was not impressed at all by the ordering process of this pizza place. I mean it's too freaking wraps and an order of mozzarella sticks. The wraps that we had were the Roma wraps they were very good there wasn't any roasted red peppers in there but overall the wraps were big and they had a good flavor. Some nights they do offer college specials if you're a college student just show your ID and I'll give you a discount on your pizza. The mozzarella sticks were good but you can't really screw mozzarella sticks up before I'm in a deep fryer. I was staying at a hotel and I ordered my food from the hotel the delivery guy came very quickly in about 15 minutes. The food was still hot when it arrived. Overall this place is good for food. however the ordering process here was terrible. I mean when you spend 15 to 20 minutes on the phone for two wraps and an order of mozzarella sticks that is absolutely absurd to me. PROS: - food was hot when delivered CONS: - took me 15-20 mins to order 2 wraps and mozz sticks WTF!!!!

Let's talk about the pizza. You go to some places and the pizza will come out beaten and dripping in grease. Pizza is not meant to be messed with, but, at Golden Grain they perfect the art. If your looking for a great slice of Pizza that is great tasting and doesn't make you feel over filled, I recommend stopping here. The first time I ever stopped in, I was with my girl friend and it was around 2AM. The case was filled with our favorite slices and when the pizza was done, the nicest lady came over and delivered it to us and also gave us some garlic knots to try out for free. If your ever in the colonie area and looking for a quick bite to eat, this is your spot. Hands down the BEST pizza in Albany!!

Having to eat gluten-free because of actual allergies (not because of fad diet) and feeling accents of cross-contamination, there are few places I feel safe ordering from. This is one of those places. Yes, english is not their first language, but enunciation and patience will pay off in the long run. I love pizza. I could eat pizza (different toppings for different moods) every day for the rest of my life and be happy. Having to eat gluten-free (g-f), this can be cost prohibitive and even difficult to find a consistently decent pizza. But I believe I have. The crust they use for g-f pizzas is good as far as thickness, texture, and taste are concerned. So I tend to look for a pizza shop that has my toppings and both decent sauce and a decent cheese mix to top it off. Unlike most people, I am not a fan of heavy cheese on my pizza; I always order "easy on the cheese, not too much please" and they always get just enough to make it a pizza and hold toppings on, but not too much. And, big points for this one, they are always patient when I specify that I need them to be careful about cross-contamination because of allergies. I have never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time. We have ordered on a busy Sunday (game day) and got delivery on top of that - we expected at least an hour wait. They told us about 35-45 minutes and our pizza arrived 37 minutes later. As for the price, I have to say that ordering any specific item as g-f can add quite a bit to the cost. Their pizza stays well within reasonable pricing - I always feel like I've gotten some kind of a deal only paying $13 and change for a decent sized pizza. The only reason they aren't getting 5 stars is because I fell in love with another g-f pizza - one that is no longer available (they recently closed their store) and Golden Grain was not it. Golden Grain offers a great g-f pizza... just not *the* one. That 5 star rating is being tucked away for the other gal's pizza.

Third times a charm, the owner read my review and contacted me to make sure everything was okay with my previous orders and listened to my opinion, I decided to try once more and was very pleased this time around. The service was great and the pizza was how I like it. Thanks for the pizza it was great! I would recommend this pizza joint, hands down.

Best pizzeria in terms of taste and generosity. I've seen how they make the food and its crafted well. Always delicious and fresh when I order a pizza. My friends and I gobble it up pretty fast. The menu has a wide variety options, I has whole grain and other special things to choose from. I'd choose this place but would have a hard time picking what I would want

Extra cheese on the pizza makes a world of difference. Also, tried the Parmesan garlic boneless wings today, and was thoroughly underwhelmed. I believe the chicken is ground up processed and formed into nuggets. Definitely not chicken breast. More like those nuggets McDonald's used to have before they changed the formulation.

Delivery was on time. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and cheese. Maybe my standards are too high, but I would not order it again.

Pizza is inconsistently good. Not the best but does the job. Service isn't the greatest. They are slow and their technology lacks. Additionally, they've screwed up our order a few times. Wings (boneless or bone-in) are very good. Buffalo chicken salad is good too. Nearby so it is our spot for pizza.

Okay. I'm an honest Yelper and will do my best to give the best info possible. I just moved and don't have my kitchen fully set up so I tried Golden Grain again after a poor first experience. What brought upon the second chance was a call from the owner to apologize and make things right. My full order was credited. My second chance was earlier in the week to try the pizza. I called and ordered for pickup as I wasn't ready to go through the delivery again. I ordered a cheese pizza. When I arrived at the shop it was very clean and not your typical small pizza shop. Quite a bit of seating. I decided to jump on the garlic knots and get them added to my order. After I ordered the garlic knots the pizza I ordered was taken out of the oven and was pepperoni. The owner was there and took the pizza off my bill and threw in 2 cheese slices. I don't eat pepperoni and didn't have time to wait for a new pizza so I took it and went. So for this trip I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. Now I'm using my credit for the super bowl and have ordered a cheese pizza and garlic knots. I wanted to order an XL cheese but they were only doing larges for the superbowl. After placing my order I got a call back that garlic knots were not available for superbowl. I ended up getting a cheesy knot instead and thought they were alright. Now for the pizza it has the proper sauce to cheese ratio but the dough is kind of eh. It takes a lot more to chew and the crust is hard to eat. I feel like the dough is plain. Overall the pizza gets a 6.5 out of 10. All in all I want to give this place better then a 3 start I just can't do it. I appreciate everything the owner did to make things right. That is a big thing to me. I will keep giving this place a try because of the owner.

I love this place and frequent it often! I usually call for pick up and they've gotten my order right each time. There was one customer whose order was inaccurate after a couple of tries and he left very peeved even after his pizzas were free. We always order a gluten free pizza for me, three-topping cheese for my wife and a white pizza for my daughter and the quality has been consistent. Having celiac, I will say that in my opinion Golden Grain has the best gluten free pizza and I've tried quite a few. It seems most like a "regular" pizza than others I've sampled. We've also used Golden Grain for occasionally catering a Saturday lunch for UAlbany's Weekend MBA Program and they've done a good job. The only issue was the first time we used them and they couldn't find our Executive Education Center location even though it was at the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber, literally a long stone's throw from the restaurant.

This review is not on the pizza, but on the terrible service I received on a recent visit. I am very sad about the bad service actually, bc we really do like the food (which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1.) On a recent, very busy Friday afternoon, I placed an order through the online service Mealeo. I placed my order at 2:45 pm, for pick-up at 4 pm. I received a confirmation email, boom, all set. When I arrived to pick up my order at 4 pm, I was met with blank stares. I showed them my confirmation, and after about three minutes of whispered conversation, the counter person was sent back to tell me that their internet was down and they had not received the order. Ok, these things happen. However, I have about 10 minutes to feed two hungry kids when I get home before we have to run out again. So fine, we can skip the food I ordered for the adults and I decide to get 3 slices to go. Not heated up, just in a box. My frustration came when they wanted to charge me for the 3 pieces of pizza. I feel like they should have given them to me, since they were the ones who messed up. (Why is there no mechanism for them to notify their online order company when their internet is down?) I said as much to the person behind the counter, and was told that he "just works the register." When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that there was no manager there and asked, "I thought you were in a hurry?" It was $6, so no big deal really, but I just think they should have made an effort to make some sort of amends for their mistake. Giving me the pizza would have been a gesture that I would be telling everyone about. NOW I am telling everyone how lousy their service was.

Friends have been raving about this pizza place and I had a Grubhub offer so decided to give it a try. Lots of options here and several specialty pizzas. Gluten free pizza is offered here for those who have a gluten allergy/sensitivity. Online ordering was made easy and I could pay using PayPal. The pizza was made to my expectations and liking, especially the crust. Toppings were not skimpy and the pies were fully covered with cheese. Sauce was perfectly seasoned and just enough in my opinion. Did not get a chance to try the other menu items including hot subs or wings yet. Picking up my orders were also easy and quick. Tried the chicken bacon ranch pizza and the Hawaiian pizza so far...looks like pizza night again will be in the near future!

Food is good...business practice is terrible.. If you order through Grubhub they cant handle the order. Constant screw ups and attitude... its really too bad because the food is good...but staff sucks!!!

One night recently I decided to order from Golden Grain. We recently moved closer to this place and I decided since they're so close, I'd give them a try in hopes of having a great pizza place to stop at easily on my way home. However, I was sick so I made them deliver. The delivery was within the time they said they'd be here. I ordered online, which is always a bonus. I like adding things up and seeing how much I'm spending and maybe deciding to add that extra order of something tasty. I always try to order the same things from new places to compare them to our current favorites. Thus, I started with an order of garlic knots. The order came with 10 knots (the minimum you can get) and I think we at 2 and threw the rest away. The knots themselves weren't bad, but I don't think there was much garlicky buttery deliciousness on them. They had a sprinkling of garlic flavored something on them, but we questioned whether they just gave us bread knots or the garlic ones. Disappointing. Next up was some wings. We went for medium sauce and though the sauce wasn't plentiful, it was pretty standard with flavor. The wings weren't very high quality and had a lot of fatty and other little tough bits on them. We at them, but weren't impressed. I'd skip them if I ever ordered again. We ordered two types of pizza - a modified Hawaiian and Bacon, Tomato, Ranch. The Hawaiian was what you'd expect. We sometimes splurge and switch out the ham for bacon, which I did this time. The cost of a 2 topping pizza was actually $1 less than the Hawaiian on their specialty pizza menu. (Remember that plus of online ordering - that's definitely one of them!) The toppings were not generous, but were adequate. The BTR was pretty decent. However, they either have the most masterful people applying the ranch or their pizza is mass produced. The ranch came in a perfect design on top. It led me to be a bit suspicious of their "hand made" type of pizza. Also, magically, the pizzas were the exact same size around. We put 1/2 of one and 1/2 of the other in a box together to store and they just looked like they made a perfect whole pizza. Maybe their dough comes pre-made or is rolled out by a machine, but definitely was strange that you couldn't tell the two pizzas apart in size. Overall, the pizza was okay, but nothing that knocked our socks off. Overall, for what I paid for the food, I was a bit disappointed. In a market where there are so many pizza options, this definitely isn't a top choice. The food wasn't all that impressive and it's not cheap enough to make me sacrifice that quality.

Received a call from the owner. He apologized and made it right by replacing my order. He has restored my faith in this business and I will continue being a faithful customer.

We've been waiting an hour and a half for 6 pizzas. They told us 20 minutes ago that they were on the way and they wouldn't comp any of the pizzas. Just called back and they didn't have our order or address. Save yourself the hassle and don't buy from here.

Food is great, isn't made right half of the time and the delivery quoted 45 minutes after 1 hour and 15 minutes was upset that they had to wait for me to leave the office and said he had a lot of deliveries. Had a hard time ordering as there was a language barrier. I would order again but only if it was to sit in and eat so when my food was made wrong I could get it corrected.

I have nothing good to say about this place!! They were 30 minutes late with my food. Everything was cold and didn't taste good at all. Even my boyfriend who isn't a picky eater whatsoever said it was gross. I ordered jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks and the cheese was cold and firm. I also ordered a chicken parmesan sub and a meatball parmesan sub and they were cold and the cheese was firm. Tried to call to get my money back but they only wanted to send out the order again. The food was just gross and cold. I only live 8 minutes away, 2.8 miles so there was no reason for the food to be cold. Even if it was warm it wouldn't of been enjoyable. Nothing tastes good and definitely will never be ordering from them again. Caution to anyone who does!!!

Thanks Yelpers. You gave an out of towner a great tip. The pizza was great. We were looking for a light inexpensive N.Y style pizza and this place delivered a thin crispy and delicious slice of pizza. Hoe do you beat $2 a slice for dinner.

The delivery was fast and the guy was cute and clean. The "grandpa pizza" is like the authentic pizza Europeans eat and it is worth the price. These days in Italy they do not have enough Italian pizza makers to meet the pizza ordering demands abroad. Foreigners in Italy are taught the pizza ropes, so it is not a lost art and the world can still enjoy great passed down pizza recipes. It is no wonder the American Jersey shore cast was also taught how to make amazing pies, but they are not as special as they would like to think. The Importance is to keep these traditional pizza recipes especially in the homeland. Wait a minute who invented Pizza anyways? I forget.

Ordered take out from here, and the person who took our order was very rude. After waiting for close to an hour, the food came. And they got the order wrong, bringing chicken wings instead of the boneless buffalo chicken we had ordered.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
