Their food is good, but the prices are expensive. When I lived in Calverton for nearly 8 months, I only went to B&B 4 times due to the prices. They charge Manhattan prices, even thought they're not on the main path (like CR 58 or Montauk Highway). My favorite place was Subway in Riverhead.

My seven year old son said it best," I don't want to eat here. It's so dirty. There's flies everywhere. All over the walls. Ow! They are biting me. Let's go! Let's eat outside.... Ugh there's flies out here too!"

Was in the area for work. Stopped in as it was close to the location. Greeted with a smile and service was prompt and polite. The sandwich was great - excellent chicken cutlet and the bagel was fresh. Went back 10 days in a row during my stay and I wish I lived closer. Thumbs up.

The Bean & Bagel Cafe has taken over the space that used to be The Carving Board Restaurant. It's adjacent to Miloski's turkey farm, and is actually a pretty convenient location (for me anyway) to grab a bagel or a cup of coffee on my way to work in the morning. While the bagels aren't at a destination making level, they are still good. If you're going for just something to eat, I recommend the corn muffin. One of the better corn muffins I've had in the Riverhead area.I've stopped several times for breakfast and I must say that I have never found the staff to be anything other than accommodating, friendly, and quick. I even had a conversation of the merits of the English Premier League and Arsenal vs. Manchester United with the guy behind the counter as he was filling my order. And I'm by no means a regular. So I don't think I received the special treatment some of the other reviews claim. Hell, the 2 reviews so far couldn't even get the name of the place correct. There is an ampersand there...Bean & Bagel. So maybe by actually reading the name of the store and calling it as such, I can be treated as a regular. That being said I've stopped at the Bean & Bagel Cafe more times than I ever had at the Carving Board, so it's clearly filling a void (not a big one) in my daily life.

A quaint, family operated deli/bagels with subpar food and service that will remind you why the divorce rate amongst white middle aged women is soaring. You enter this spacious, glorified bagel stand and are greeted by either a squirrelly fellow with spiked blonde hair and the ambition of a morbidly obese power bottom, or a chubby woman with cheesy gold jewelry and haggard skin. The woman comes across as excessively invested in her duties at a bagel slicer, which I found particularly unsettling. She will make a concerted effort to sell you at least one item you have no interest in. Her desperation is poorly masked only by her cheap smile and overwhelming selection of jewelry, obviously worn to assert herself as more than a counter waitress. The food goes over no better than the gold-plated-white-trash who will sell it to you. The bagels are tough, probably shipped in from a wholesale warehouse on a weekly basis. I wouldn't venture too far into any of the complex menu items, they are sure to disappoint. Nothing I've eaten at Bean & Bagel ever gave the impression of quality. The overall feeling I walked away with is this: Bean & Bagel is suffering from absentee owner syndrome. I have a strong suspicion that the man who owns this hellhole spends the majority of his time bouncing around between his failing pizza joints therefore the reigns have been handed over to his lovely wife, a converted housewife, who attended a handful of night classes back in the mid 80's giving her a a sense of superiority over her socially awkward employees. The best excuse you could make for why you've allow yourself to become a regular customer is lack of competition facing this restaurant. If you love low quality food at a competitive price and service comparable to that of your high school cafeteria be sure to stop by and check out Bean & Bagel Cafe.

I live 5 minutes away from this place. The bagels are good but the coffee is horrible. It is very weak and literally has no taste. I had to give this 2 stars because Coffee should be just as good as the bagels especially if you're going to put "Bean" in the name. They should spend a little more money and add a few more scoops of coffee to the brewer. It's really a shame I have to go to a gas station, minutes away on the corner of Edwards to get good coffee but they don't have good bagels there. I do not have enough time for two trips. The coffee comes first.

I've given Bean & Bagel a few tries, and I'm just not a fan. The coffee is too weak and has no taste. The egg sandwiches are cold. I really don't understand how you make a cold egg sandwich when they're made fresh when you order. Cold roll, cold, unmelted cheese and luke-warm eggs. And it wasn't just me, it was the same for all 4 sandwiches in my group. Add that all up and top it off with higher-than-average prices and I don't think I'll go back again.

I don't go to bagel places often and If I go it's only for bagels or egg sandwiches. This place has really good bagels.. Their veggie cream cheese is the best I've ever had. Unfortunately their egg sandwiches never satisfied me nor my family and friends. We stopped going here for the occasional weekend breakfast egg sandwiches because they would either be made wrong or the cheese wouldn't be melted-- like the cook slapped it on there last (kinda half assed). Who doesn't want melted delicious cheese on their egg sandwich ? I don't want cold boring cheese. When I make eggs at home I melt the cheese .. When I get them out at different deli's they melt the cheese .. So I don't really get why they just don't. The sandwiches also don't come with complimentary juice or coffee like most bagel places do on LI. So for a real NY egg sandwich with a free juice or coffee I'd rather travel the extra miles. For a bagel I'll go here.

I can't believe the negative posts. I live around the corner from Bean & Bagel..... We stop in often for breakfast sandwiches, bagels and sometimes lunch sandwiches. Everything is always delicious! Their prices are average not overpriced at all. I love the specialty cream cheeses ( bacon herb & french toast are my favorite). Everyone behind the counter is friendly and helpful. I was even pleasantly surprised with fresh brewed pumpkin coffee a couple weekends ago! I really can't think of a negative thing to say.... Everyone in our household loves the Bean and Bagel.

Bagels = Good. However, service is extremely slow, and the coffee station (self-service only) is set up horribly. I could never make this my Sunday morning bagel stop because of this. And, the coffee is only average at best. Guys & gals, you need to pour someone a coffee at 7am on a weekend!!

This is one of the best cafes in the Riverhead area. They have very friendly staff and the food does not taste like it was made out of a machine. I believe they have the best bagels on the whole East End. I defiantly recommend you come to this cafe

I tried twice in the past week. First time I. I ordered a bagel salt with butter and an everything with cream cheese. Ok it was about 2:30pm. But the bagel were hard I mean hard hard. Had to rip it with your teeth to get a bite and the butter was melted!! The bagel wasn't hot so how was the butter melted?? Crazy lol. I guess butter was warm idk. So like i said because it was late that day I gave them a pass tried them three days later at 10:20. Walked in no salt bagels!!no everything bagels!! no onion bagels!!! Few other bins empty but those are my go to. Bought a coffee was weak. 3strikes yeeeerrrrrrrr out!!! Best of luck with your adventure.

I love this place. Great sandwiches and soups, and always greater by a very friendly and hospitable staff. Prices are reasonable and service is prompt. I highly recommend stopping in on your way to or from Riverhead.
