I've been here twice and both meals were unremarkable and unmemorable. The first time was a couple of years ago for a work luncheon. The food was okay, nothing special. I usually remember what I eat when I go to a restaurant, but I don't have the slightest idea what I had that day. The most recent time I ate here was two months ago for lunch with a co-worker. Just like that insipid experience I had at Cugini's two years ago, I honestly don't remember what I had to eat, although I do remember it being good...whatever it was.

Visit restaurant.com and you can pay as little as $1 for $25 gift certificate to this wonderful neighborhood Italian spot. Portions are HUGE, the bread is always served warm, the servers are super friendly and every main entree comes with choice of pasta or salad. They also started a $17.95 prix fix dinner but print the coupon and get whatever you want. Perfect for a reliable mid-week or weekend meal.

This pizza is excellent along with many of the other items on the menu.

Has one of my favorite buffalo chicken slices around. Good crust, tons of chicken and buffalo sauce. And for the price you can't go wrong

I have been eating here since the mid to late 90's - I was in the place the day it opened. The ABSOLUTE BEST GRANDMA PIZZA IN THE WORLD NO COMPARISON AVAILABLE I have tried a few other things here like the lemon chicken. But I have literally driven 45 minutes each way (from my suffolk house) to buy a couple of these pies just to put in the freezer. When I am in town, I always come here for slices, a mini grandma, or a full size to go. These things are so good I have debated giving them away as gifts for christmas. The owners, though I wouldn't want to meet one in a dark alley, are always friendly when present and even recognize me from when I was a kid. Staff has always been professional. I did sit down once for dinner here, had the lasagna and was just as impressed as always. This is a MUST for lunch and dinner. If you live within 20 or 30 minutes, there is no other place to go for pizza. Clean as a whistle as well, from back to front.

Nice little pizzeria restaurant. The pizza crust is very thin, airy and light. The Neapolitan and Sicilian slices are perfectly blended with a delicious seasoned sauce. The staff is very friendly, but be patient during the lunch hour. It could get a little hectic, especially when people are paying for a slice and drink with a credit card. This holds up the line as they process one transaction after another. There is a more formal dine in area to the side. I haven't had the pleasure to dine in and try the more eclectic menu, but perusing through the menu and coming across items like "Tortellini Bolognese", "Broccoli Rabe with sausage" and "Saltimbocca alla Romana", something tells me that I will be back. I'm just afraid that when I return, my eyes will be bigger than my stomach! Pass the "Tums" please.

I really like their grandma slices. The sauce and crust are a perfect blend for flavorful pizza. I haven't tried anything else yet.

Pizza is pretty good. Many varieties. Shrimp parm hero wasn't bad but was lacking flavor in the sauce. Sauce is very bland. The place it self needs remodeling. Stained wood is like worn to shreds & if the outside looks worn I can only imagine the kitchen. It's not bad, just needs a tune up. Got a pie from then the other day. I was told 30 minutes, get there in 25,got home n pizza was cold. Smh. Before the owner died, sauce had flavor, place was always looking shiny &New... They need to clean up there act cuss they could be a 5 star place.

I've been eating grandma slices from Cugini's for as long as I can remember. I don't dine in as often as I would like, being as the fried calamari is my kryptonite! The dining room is a little cramped, but the specials keep me interested.

My family used to order pizza from Cugini's every Friday night as long as I can remember but unfortunately their food has been very disappointing as of late. I agree with Antonio's review, it seems as if they have been using cheap products in their dishes. The sauce they use on the pizza and in their pasta dishes is not as good as it once was. Cugini's used to be very popular, especially with the Chaminade boys but with the tons of pizzerias that have popped up over the past 5 years, there are better options

Let me start by saying I've enjoyed take out from there for years. About six months ago, I had a problem with a counterman who tried to overcharge me for a slice. When I said I'd had the same slice the day before for $1.50 less he pretty much called me a liar. so it was with this background that I attended a small birthday dinner for a neighbor( I live three blocks away, on Beebe) Our waiter tried hard but he's in the wrong profession. didn't know the specials, stumbled over drink orders and in three courses, gave the dish to the right person perhaps half of the time. Food was mediocre,t he manacoti serving was quite small- two pieces, and we were overcharged for drinks . When we pointed out that only one of us was drinking beer, but we were charged for four instead of two, the waiter looking like he didn't understand. Despite the fact we let it be known it was a birthday party, no one even wished her a Happy Birthday, I wont be back.

I've eaten here before once or twice. Good pizza, but its a small place, and it tends to get crowded quick!

This review is for the restaurant. I have been coming here for about 15 years since I was a kid. The wait staff and management are always courteous. Our food is always served hot and tastes great. They have a very wide range of selections, and they will make something special for you if you ask them. I have sampled ,any of their entrees and always enjoy it. I have literally dined here over 100 times over the years, not including pizza. I have never had a bad experience. We love it.

Went here on a recent Saturday night. We used to go here often but had not been here for quite a while. Made reservations for 7PM and when we arrived there were 8 people in the whole dining room. We had a party of 6. I noticed that there was only 1 waitress that I knew from before. None of the "old timers" that had been there for like ever are working there anymore. So that was not a good sign. Our waiter on his 1st days ever being a waiter was so lost it was embarrassing to us. He couldn't answer questions about the specials he had trouble reading to us. After each of us ordered he would give us the thumbs up. (Really?) Our meals came and 2 of the orders were totally wrong. My side order of wheat pasta with meat sauce came with some kind of orange sauce on it. Our waiter told me it was bolognaise. I asked him if this is different than meat sauce or is this all you had. He went back to kitchen to find out. 15 mins later he comes out with Capelini with meat sauce and places it down and says I gave you different pasta with fresh made meat sauce. And again he gives the thumbs up. Then I tell him that I wanted wheat pasta and if a customer orders wheat pasta it is for a reason and not for you to decide what to give. After all the mishaps were corrected we hung out and caught up with each other. The whole time we were there one table of 4 left and another 4 came in. That was it. At about 9:15 we ordered coffee and desert our waiter came back with the deserts and told us they had no regular coffee made. Ok can you make us fresh pot and was told no only decaf was ready. So we had decaf. Can't believe they would not make us coffee. Then it got very cold in the room and we asked to put the heat back on as we are very unconfutable. The thumbs up waiter said he would try. Well that never happen. This used to be a great place to eat. The food was outstanding and you always had a great time. I can see why nobody comes here anymore. The food is good but nothing to have to go back for. As far as not even wanting to put up a pot of coffee and now losing more customers you have to scratch your head as why? When there are so many restaurants nearby you can't skimp on quality, service, details, etc.

This place is so bad and filthy dirty. Ask them to see the kitchen and if look around the cockroaches and rats are bigger than the people that work there. The food is rushed out and you can tell. This place has gone soo down hill. They buy the cheapest quality products and do not appreciate their customers. There are much better pizzerias in the area. Goto one of them

If you're in the area, Cugini's is the perfect spot for some very good pizza. The Neopolitan pizza is prepared perfectly, not too doughy/thin crust with a balanced portion of tomato sauce and cheese. And if you thought their Neopolitan pizza was good, wait till you try their delicious thin-crust grandma's pizza!! If you're looking for a slice a bit more interesting, their Spicy Buffalo Chicken is also very good. The dough is made thicker so that it can handle the loaded chicken on top without falling apart. The chicken is tender and moist with just the right amount of heat. Their mozzarella sticks are gooey and tasty, though fairly standard at best. Garlic knots are short of amazing, and I'd probably skip them for another slice of pizza.

After eating pizza and food here for many years I have to check in and say that the food has gone way down hill at what was once a very reliable neighborhood italian eatery. The pizza is always delicious (especially the Sicilian pizza, which never disappoints, especially when you are fortunate to get it fresh out of the oven). However after eating there twice for dinner in the last month, the food is sadly off the mark. A platter of calamari fra diavolo on linguini came out in a mess of oily water that they tried to pass off as a "sauce". It tasted like dishwater and oil-totally gross. Last night, I tried again, thinking I should play it safe, I ordered veal parmigiana. The dish appeared in less than 5 minutes, obviously micro-waved or re-heated old food with cutlets that had been prepared long ago. The tiny portion was covered in a melted cheese that had the melt appearance that only a microwave could yield. The meat was tough, chewy, almost leather in texture. The side of spaghetti was requested in marinara sauce, but arrived in a micro-sized bowl of tepid sauce with the consistency of tomato juice and tasted again, like dishwater. Sadly, this plafce is best now for a quick slice at lunch time and I have crossed it off my list as a reliable italian eatery. There are far better places less than 5 minutes away that have much tastier food, with management that appears to take pride in what they serve, which is obviously not the case here. Looking for a good alternate, try King Umberto in Elmont, Umberto's of New Hyde Park, or the former partner of Cugini--now called Dangelo (formerly Cugini II). The food at Dangelo is really tasty, and they are a stone's throw from Cugini. Shame on you Cugini, you had it in you at one time--I'm very disappointed in you!

Pizza / Restaurant. This place is actually very good - everything is fresh and tasty. It is a little off the beaten track being at the back end of a small strip mall- you can only see it from the road if you are traveling west - or if you know it is there. They have a room where you can have a small party but it is best for running in there at lunch time, getting the goods and going back to work. Prices are average- but worth it. Parking on side and in back.

I have been eating here for many years, I even had my bridal shower in the restaurant! The food is wonderful, very fresh. The sauce has a very unique flavor, unlike any other pizzeria I have ever eaten in. Everything from their regular slices, chicken parm, rigatoni a la vodka, manicotti, everything is awesome! Great local eatery. The only down side is that the acoustics in the restaurant area are kind of poor so it gets very loud in there as people end up needing to shout over the increasing noise as the place fills up.

The pizza is great. If you go to the formal dining room, the dishes are just A-OK.

We had such a bad experience dining here. The service was soooo slow that our children almost fell asleep at the table. I ordered veal parm, which was inedible when it finally arrived. Overcooked and chewy. My wife ordered chicken francese, which tasted like it came out of a can. We sent both back to the kitchen. When the asked if we wanted anything to replace them with, we had to say no because we had already waited an hour for lousy food. They were not at all apologetic. Maybe still a good place for takeout pizza and pasta, but we will not be dining there again.
