LOVE THEIR PIZZA! Their mozzarella stuffed garlic bread is SUPERB as well. It's my favorite pizza joint in the area (and I've tried lots of different places). It's a little overpriced, but the quality makes up for that. The pizza is great. Crust is thin but crispy, not oily either. Their ingredients are fresh and they don't skimp on the marinara or the cheese. I'm quite impressed that it being a chain and it still maintaining really good quality food. I would order weekly if I could afford it!

Decent pizza, but the delivery is horrible! My one star is for this location & delivery only. I would give their pizza itself 3.5 stars... I'll explain: I was so excited to finally find a pizzeria that uses FRESH mushrooms up here in the Heights. After we moved from the Upper West Side, we could not find fresh mushrooms anywhere, only canned! It was a shockingly horrible predicament, as it is our fave topping. (w/ pepperoni if diet allows) I will also say that I've eaten Famous Famigia pizza many times. I used to order from their 96th St. location for a long time when I lived down there. It wasn't our primary joint, but I generally enjoy their pizza and salads. Having said all that, I can not bring myself to order from here again. I tried it on five different occasions. Each and every time, the pizza arrived looking like it was placed in a centrifuge before being handed to me. Obviously the pie needed a couple more minutes in the oven to crispin and the delivery guy handled it like a football on his bike. If it wasn't cooled too much, I would have to redistribute the cheese with a fork in order to make it edible. If it had cooled on the way (winter time) two slices are cheese-less and useless. I would never complain to an establishment directly about a delivery because I know those guys work really hard for not much money... but the pizza arrives in such a crappy state, that we no longer order from here. Sadly I am left ordering from Dominoes to get fresh mushrooms! Can you imagine, I live in the pizza capital of the world and I have to order Dominoes! A little bit of me dies inside every time I dial their number. It's like having to call McDonalds to get a decent burger. Ridiculous! Famous Famiglia is an emerging chain that needs to take some time to consider their brand and user experience before they can truly launch onto the national stage. I hope to add more stars to this review someday!

No offense NYC, but Philly spoiled me with some great pizza joints. You've really got to step up.. I was expecting so much more! Anyway-- okay, so I'm sure at some point in time Famous Famiglia Pizzeria was tasty. After all, now else could they have become "Famous," and supposedly THE pizza chain in NYC? I've tried their wares at a couple locations around NYC now, and have been sorely disappointed each time. It's not just the crust. The cheese tastes like a pale shadow of real cheese. Toppings are dry and stale tasting (especially the cubes of chicken). Service is efficient but surly and impersonal. Even with this particular Famiglia chain being so close and convenient for CUMC students, I would recommend the extra 2 minutes walk to Como Pizza any day.

This is really 2.5 stars The Salad was very tasty--crisp greens and a good dressing. BUT the pizza, the pièce de résistance, really sucked :( I know this is a chain but this is friggin New York!! The Famiglia in Time Square is even better than this--the crust was really bad. I am stubborn, so I tried it a second time ( I just couldn't believe it was so blah) and got the same result --so no more $$ from Niambi

It's a great slice of pizza. I couldn't ask for much more. Staff is outgoing and friendly. Very clean pizzeria. Overpriced, but what isn't in NYC?

We have ordered from Famiglia for the last few years and it was always pretty good until recently- the last three times something was different. The crust seems thinner and way saltier- a weird change. And the cheese has thinned out. My 5 year old daughter has even noticed the difference and won't eat it when we order. Unfortunately I think we are going to have to try elsewhere.

Another self-proclaimed famous NYC pizza chain. The regular slices are around average tasting and the Sicilian always looks dry and old. The napkin reads " New York's Favorite Pizza." You'd have to be from the south or midwest or have only eaten at Chuckie Cheeze's, Gumby's or Rocky Rococo's to actually believe this is the best pizza in NYC. I might have given 2.5 stars if they didn't give the false claims.

Itsmy Sunday place to go... The staff is nice, the place is clean... They have multiple offerings to suit your palate... From salads to pizza to calzones... The one problem I have is that sometimes the homeless come in there and bother you... But the manager is quick to act... I usually get 2 slices of the Supreme... Delicious... And they have delivery...

This was the best pizza I've had in NY in a while. I don't live there, but I've visited NY 5 times and pretty much eat only pizza every time I visit. I like white pizza with ricotta cheese (I will try to upload the picture I took), and I think this was the best slice of white pizza I've ever had. We also went to Angelo's Coal Oven pizza, which was not bad. My husband really liked his mixed peppers pizza at Angelo's, but Famiglia's is my favorite and I will come back every time I visit NYC. Also, my husband really liked the Calzones at Famiglia's. I'm not sure why this place has bad reviews, perhaps other people have different tastes or order different food. But we will definitely be back for more white pizza & Calzones.

I cannot exaggerate how much I hate Famiglia. Every Columbia Medical Center event that advertises free pizza is catered by Famiglia, and every time they dash my hopes. The bread is flaccid and impotent, the sauce is weak, the cheese too greasy. I feel uneasy after eating 2 slices. Why Famiglia Pizza is still in business boggles the mind. I submit that they're actually an anti-Italian campaign funded by the Irish. The only way for pizza to taste that bad is on purpose.

I've only tried the fresh mozz, tomato, and basil slice ($3.75), but it's pretty tasty, convenient if you're disembarking from the A-stop at 168th and the staff are pleasant enough. I would take it to go since the ambiance leaves something to be desired.

As an Italian and a huge fan of Italian food, I really dislike Famiglia. It is a miserable, commercial, attempt at a 'homemade' italian pizza. Nothing is fresh, everything tastes cookie-cutter and like it comes out of a can. Everything is ridiculously overpriced. If you want Pizza, go to Como next door and get something for real...

I work at a university and there are times when we need to feed a large amount of students in a small amount of time. And this is who we call when we need that. They always deliver on time and dealing with the manager is always pleasant. He's quick and efficient and doesn't try to chat with me about anything. Which I like. I'm kinda cold and impersonal. Don't judge me.

I love me some autentic italian pizza. Shit, I rather go to a mom and pop pizzaria before I hit Domino's and Papa Johns. This is why I was excited when I moved up to the heights and saw that there was a Famiglia Pizzaria. I know it's a chain but the pizza is still good. Or it varies with location I guess. This place has a bad service. Dude was having a convo with some other guy as he took my order. In the process speaking over me as I placed my ordr. I had a Basil and mozzarela slice. The pizza was a bit dry. Not to enough sauce for my liking man. The crust was really hard like its ben sitting for a minute. I was tempted to get another but did not due to the fact that the slice was just not good. Very dissapoint with this Famiglia Pizzaria. I hope they read this shit and do a better job. Palabra!

okay, so this place is like the dominoes of New York. Yet, it is ten times better then they are. It is really good pizza for being all over the place!

  • Craig G.

This place isn't that great. The pizza is very expensive and it doesn't taste very good. The tables are always dirty and the staff is so busy talking to each other that they are not paying attention to their jobs.

Not even the best pizza I have eaten in many other parts of the country not known for pie quality. They must hasve paid dearly for the moniker as "prefered pizza of the New York Yankees"? Give it a try and decide for yourself.....

This place is convenient when out with co-workers that can't eat meat on Fridays. (Oh, is it past Easter yet...?) My co-worker Fergus and I stopped there for a quick early dinner during one of our shifts at CUMC as the freshness of the tuna salad at Shangri-La by 5 PM was brought into question. We got a Caesar Salad to share, garlic knots with cheese to share, and he got a slice of the pizza with fresh mozzarella. I got the pizza with (what I thought was only) broccoli and fresh-sliced tomatoes. The greens in the salad were quite superb and a medium-sized salad was MORE than enough for both of us. However, the croutons were not crunchy as they had sat in the salad platter, most likely, all afternoon long. Fergus ate his pizza contently enough, it seemed. He wasn't a fan of the first garlic knot he consumed, but he said the second one was better. I said because it was overflowing in the garlicky oils of it's departed brothers."* I pizza that I got had mushrooms hidden underneath the broccoli, tomatoes, and cheese, much to my dismay. I don't like mushrooms! I'll be like a whiny two year old about this. I DON'T LIKE MUSHROOMS! A secret pleasure of mine in life? The garlic knots are baked in a pouch of aluminum foil that is filled with the knots and the cheese. I enjoy picking giant globs of melted cheese from the foil and stuffing them into my mouth. I told Fergus to look away as I did this, as it was slightly embarrassing, but I obviously wasn't embarrassed enough NOT to do this. Just because I'm 25 years old doesn't mean I have to be constantly classy or act age-appropriate. * - Whomever understood the Homer Simpson reference in this sentence is EPIC.

Have you ever had to pat down ziti with a paper towel because it was swimming in a half inch of grease? This is what I get for not ordering from Antika.

So I'm not even going to front. Blah, blah, I know it's a chain, but seriously, this is some of the best pizza I've honestly had since I've moved to NYC. Here's why: 1) THEY LIKE CHEESE. Something NYers know nothing about with their tissue thin layers of cheese on pizza. I don't play that mess. My ass ain't vegan for a reason! 2) THEY LIKE BREAD. Crispy, but deliciously chewy all at once bread, not that floppy crap that I'd HAVE to fold over (even though I refuse for all of my days to do such a thing). 3) They're open pretty late, so that helps for a nightwalker like me who sleeps and eats at odd hours. 4) It's relatively cheap and never fails me. And they make good white pizza FTW! Thus, they win my heart and I'm not ashamed to say it. The Famiglia boxes that accumulate in my recycling bags from time to time prove it.

Who ever said "even bad pizza is good pizza" is full of shit. The pic of the slice is sad and limp, if I ever went to prison, this is what I would expect pizza to taste like. There was no crunch, the sauce was barely noticeable and the dough tasted like cardboard. Cheese was nice and chewy but no flavor. The chicken was OK. The tomato and basil was terrible, I was not a impressed. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Let me put it in simple words... Disgusting. We ordered baked ziti and chicken parm, not only did we wait 1 hr to get our food but it was also almost inedible. The food was nearly burnt. When I called to let them know they offered to re-deliver... No thank you I wasn't waiting another hour. Never again

  • M C.

Yuck! Don't ever order any pasta..almost always burnt. There was nothing open at this time so this was my only option and they failed again.

pizza at best was OK slices on the small side. ordered 4 slices and 2 drinks if I payed attention or if they made an offer I would have payed the same for ordering a sm pizza.

MOAR BASIL PLEASE i dont know why it is so hard for them to give you extra basil on the fresca pizza. I ask every time and they never do it. I'm paying almost $20 dollars for a small pizza which, without enough basil, seems pretty pathetic.

I've had pizza from here many times and have noticed that the pizza tastes different every time I order from this pizzeria. The pizzas are sometimes overcooked to the point where you can't taste the cheese anymore it's just chewy. The sauce is okay, it does seem a little out of place with the cheese and crust. Their garlic knots are pretty good. Delivery is kind of slow so expect a long wait. Overall, there's something missing from these pizzas that would make them amazing. You could get better at a thousand other pizzerias in the city.

Yelp's been bugging me to review this for some time. I went in September, sorry this review is so late! My sister wanted pizza, so I went here with her and then next door to Chipotle. The inside is just old and unattractive. She got a salad and pizza. The salad is taken out of a big bin that was probably made that morning. This was confirmed when the croutons were like mush. When we asked for new ones, we were told that they did not have fresh croutons. Odd. The pizza was pretty bad too, sister and dad both didn't like it. I didn't even bother trying it because it looked so bad. The one guy working decided to step up and give us the money for the salad back even though we didn't ask, so he gets a star for that. There's no reason to go to Famiglia with Chipotle next door...skip it.

Pizza is okay, but very greasy. A good place to eat if you're looking for a quick bite, they sell pizza by the slice. Conveniently located by the metro station.

Worst pizzeria ever, didn't even waste my time with there food with all the constant racism and no customer appreciation. How can someone possibly want to waste there time with this pathetic place.
